Yeah Shen Qingqiu’s actions in the novel make sense when you know he’s reacting to what he thinks will happen from the original pidw as well as coercion from the system, but Luo Binghe’s actions also make sense given wtf has been happening since Shen Yuan transmigrated in.

Imagine: you’re chosen by an immortal master to be taught, only to be viciously abused by said master and all your fellow disciples save one —> 4 years in your shizun qi deviates (supposedly) and begins to treat you like his favorite person in the world; the abuse stops —> 3 years later your now favorite person in the world (the only person who seems to genuinely love you) throws you into hell with no warning and tells you it’s because you’re a demon…despite having taught you not to hold prejudice against someone because of their species—> it takes you 3 years to climb out of hell, and you decide to avoid your shizun, whom you still love, out of respect for him, but the next time you cross paths on a mission, he won’t even look at you—> not only will he not look at you, he prefers the company of another man who looks like you over you, and that man acts like you’re the danger in the situation—> you try to meet your shizun later and he immediately jumps out a window to escape you, again acting as if you are the danger in this situation—> you finally catch up to him and your feelings finally catch up to you now that you are reunited without any distractions. What’s your reaction gonna be?

Like, I cannot impress how fucked it is as a survivor of abuse to have your abuser publicly treat you like you are a threat to them, despite that never being the dynamic of your relationship, once you are (seemingly) able to stand on equal footing with them, and then having the people who watched you be abused then treat you like public enemy #1 (and they don’t even know sqq threw him into hell!!! lbh never reveals this!!!!) And throughout all this, Luo Binghe was also grappling with the fact that however many times it seemed like sqq wanted to kill him, he still loved him! I think being a tad bit unhinged was actually a great show of restraint on his part, tbh.

i'm thinking about black knight and how well - written sonic is, and it sort of turned into a funny thought on like.............sonic's like a hard dude to get in the head of? he's so, like...defined by his mythology rather than himself, and in a lot of cases he really works best when you're not in his head. like yeah why DOES sonic spare lancelot, gawain, and precivel but clearly doesn't give a shit about killing arthur? i think its cos his warm and loving heart and also his unwillingness 2 tolerate tyrants but he doesnt say that, and the fact that he rarely outright talks about his motivations or the like makes that more interesting. hell when percivel asks why he saved her hes like 'eh just a whim' jgdskfhldsfg. and like yeah i dont think thats True, i think he was always gonna save em, but like. yknow what im saying.

and part of that is what makes it hard for fandom to agree on just who he is, cos he really is ruled by whim to a certain extent but more than that because he just...Does Shit. he doesnt really talk about why or how, and when he DOES talk a lot abt why and how is when i, at least, start to feel like we're getting ooc. i dunno this hog is my friend and an enigma

Thinking about this one weird c!ponk neg post i clowned on a long time ago with my friends and now that the dsmp is over i think i was too harsh on it for their characterization of c!ponk. Truly they were ahead of their time on that one

#the only real gripe i had was their assumptions abt the cc which were. yikes im not gonna lie #but that being said yeah there is something to be said about c!ponk's capacity for cruelty towards ppl who have wronged her #and her treatment of sam is warranted up to a point tbh #but then we get to the finale where she is just. needlessly cruel #its so fascinating and some would call it derailment but i genuinely believe this was a perfect portrayal of negative character development #her resentment and anger consumed her until she was not only fully willing to commit violence against sam but actively enjoying it #which is something sam NEVER did #you always get the sense that he is disgusted with himself and his justifications always felt like a defense mechanism #against the crushing guilt his actions cause him to feel #ponk is laughing and saying hes going to savor this hes DELIGHTING in sam's fear and suffering and i want to study them like a weird bug #c!ponk crit #c!ponk neg
