A reason I don't mind ignoring Teen Wolf canon and only interacting with the fanfiction. Is because to me the show tried to no homo Stiles & Derek's potential relationship by pairing them up with the nearest female character, And in Derek's case one abusive relationship with Jennifer and then in the movie implying that Derek does have feelings for Stiles; my only gripe is that no one ever stayed on that show so Derek will come back eventually, and it's shocking how there is already 569 fanfictions of Derek, Stiles and Eli being family.

teen wolf and how it handled sterek is fascinating and should be studied. they invented the playbook for social media age queerbaiting with the way the pairing's popularity was capitalized on.

what's interesting is how people will deny there was actual support amongst people involved in the production and actors. they'll also deny that there's any support within the show's narrative or character interactions.

gotta girlboss, gatekeep and gaslight those gross sterek fans in the year 2023, you know. even when the fucking movie baited us yet again and dylan wasn't even in it. .

the show walked derek and stiles back quite a lot. we don't really know the details as to why exactly. was it jeff himself? was it higher ups in the ranks of mtv and viacom?

(and gotta make note of that erica to cora to malia pipeline and how the writers loved to torment derek.)

yet they still kept dropping the crumbs until hoechlin left and even then we had moments were it was teased.

the series finale promo even used derek and stiles to draw back the viewers it'd lost. like i was here on tumblr when it dropped. it was a bunch of tired fandom girlies cursing jeff davis's name.

there is a reason for this iconic post after all

it's pretty well known that sterek fandom splintered off from the main teen wolf fandom and it's still going. it's an independent thing and long learned to ignore canon. it was no shock to me that the second it was announced that derek would have a son in the movie that fandom adopted him and than coupled with that w o w casting decision (which hoechlin himself did) it's no surprise people looked at vince and went "something gay happened here"

and sterek is still being teased-- complicated feelings for the jeep holy fuck jeff -- but fandom looked jeff davis in the eye and said

In their description of this recent match, the Muscleboy Wrestling website promises lots of classic pro wrestling by Zach Ramos and Tripp Evans. The captions beside my animations are copied directly from the promo page for this video. I swear they may be speaking directly to me when they promise to please their "most avid fans of old school pro." Thanks boys, I am pleased!

It pleases me to know that Muscleboy (and most of the other Underground wrestling producers) continue to pander to my demographic: wrestling fans of a certain age who still love this fake old pro style shit and want to see lots more of it, so they go out of their way to include some classic rasslin videos among their products.

And it pleases me that they take the gaity up a notch by utilizing attractive models in skimpy, bulge-enhancing trunks as the performers of the good old classic rasslin moves. Yet they still capture the essence of vintage pro wrestling: the look of the gear and accessories (e.g., wrist tape, bicep straps), the iconic holds of yesteryear, the exaggerated suffering and selling (such agony!), the muscular physiques, the strutting and posing, the campy flamboyance -- it checks all the boxes for a fan who grew up enjoying the apparently devastating impact of Big Elbow Drops just like these...

The mainstream televised wrestling promotions transitioned away from this antiquated format long ago, now giving their fans a faster performance with less body contact, less selling, and less homo-eroticism. So I definitely appreciate Underground producers for recognizing the continued demand for classic pro style action and for filling the demand by giving us plenty of what we crave.

Can I share a view of the Louis fanbase? Unfortunately, because Louis’ fandom still comprises mostly of 1D fans or Larries, all of their perception is grounded in the Larrie material which is handed down from old Larrie Twitter/Tumblr/IG/YouTube posts. All of this content is highly skewed to form the narrative that Larries/1Ders wanted to pass down. The big Larrie blogs now were not even existent when 1D was active, a lot of the information they share today as facts in untrue but they are not really interested in facts. What this has done is really dumbed down the boys personalities and turned them into 1 dimensional people (1D :)), which they really weren’t. From 2013 onwards, the media basically treated 1D as Harry’s band. All the focus was on him, hence a lot of what you would find on Tumblr or You tube would all be focused on him and the others would be just side characters. Concert goers focused their cameras on Harry for the most part, people like Ellen Degeneres had interviews where each question was directed at Harry and the others were there just as props. It wasn’t fun for non Larries or people who were not big Harry fans in the 1D fandom so people ended up aligning to these cohorts.

Louis for instance was a big flirt on and off stage with all the boys not just Harry as Larries now like to proclaim. Here is a post that I am sure not many Larries today would have seen.

They will however have seen Harry and Liam being homoerotic on stage because that’s part of Harry being gay saga.

Louis was always the one who was the most comfortable with showing genuine affection. He really set that tone for the band. He has done the same with his band now as a solo artist too. It’s not about homo eroticism on stage, it is about care and affection with Louis.

One of the criticisms the Larries will have about Louis is that he seems to not encourage female artists and surrounds himself with men. This is also a bit one sided. One of the first collaborations of any member of the band was Louis with Bebe Rexha. They seemed to have a very comfortable chemistry when they did promo. Louis had her sing the opening verse of the song. He also wanted to put together and manage a girl band initially. On xfactor, he seemed to gravitate towards Ayda and showed her the most respect. Very different from the working relationship Harry seemed to have forged on the movie set of DWD with Florence and Olivia. Wonder if he would have treated a male director in the same way?

Also, Louis’ friends and family will be presented in really bad light by the Larries but no one can deny that he has always kept them around. Stan was there almost all through the xfactor journey with him, he is the one who invited his friends over from his hometown for the big party he had when they were first getting successful. His celebrations were never about inviting the Beckhams to his birthday party. Remember when he took his great grandmother to the Savoy for her birthday, I am sure the Larries today don’t have any masterposts about that. His family must have done something right for the amount of love and care he has always shown them.

Yes, he has vices such as he is a chain smoker, he likes to party and consume alcohol and is a self confessed stoner but that’s not all there is to him. I wish he gets to have a fandom one day that is not just built on Larrie masterposts but a more balanced view.

The cupcake image of Harry also percolated down from Larries and 1D fans. It’s amazing to realize that what Harry took away from Louis’ legacy of brotherly camaraderie and acceptance of all sexualities and genders was that it was good marketing.

Flag waving and photoshoots were done for marketing. Privately, Harry’s romantic partners were strategically chosen for business. They were discarded when they outlived their usefulness. But L/Harrie masterposts are all about Harry-the-victim. They will not call him out for his friends or his choices, just as they cannot accept that Louis isn’t the crude caricature they make him out to be.

I don't think that's true at all! I think before the Adam stuff he carried every feud. When I used to watch Dynamite he was often the only entertaining thing on the show. I just hate this particular guy right now and I'm not even remotely in the majority. Some dissidents rolling their eyes aside, people fucking love that shit, they are still eating it up, he's playing the crowd (perhaps some of the cause of my bitterness lies here, as my friend once said... a popular jock, rich kid and asshole who gets cheered by his beta orbiters - that's just a school bully, plain simple).

I don't think Punk carried that feud, he just ensured it stayed serious and psychosexual rather than no homo comedy and now we're getting no homo comedy, and that's just not for me.

You know what I've been thinking about recently? That if Stucky was actually just a friendship and everyone agreed on that (excluding us) Tony would definitely have a line telling Steve something while referring to Bucky as "your boyfriend". There's no way Tony wouldn't do that. But I don't know man, I know if anything, it would actually be the opposite. but also, can you see my point?

Like yes, if anything, it should be the opposite. but I'm saying that because they knew and they didn't touch that subject whether we're talking about Marvel Studios or people in their universe. So to me that seems like more tension buildup, you know? They barely ever gave us "direct" reference to that matter (I correct, they never gave us), and with a lot of other ships, real people or fictional characters, the actors or the writers just go with it jokingly. Sometimes they even talk about it too much and after that, for me the 'craving for more' stops and I realize or assume that this is definitely just a joke. If it were not, they would never do it. And for Stucky, it's the exact opposite, poor guys can't even talk about it not getting edgy. And I crave that. Because I guess I'm a masochist 😂

Oohh, I'm not 100% sure if I entirely understand what you're saying, but I think it's that the fact that in the MCU no jokes were ever made about Steve and Bucky being lovers only reinforces the notion that the bond between them is in fact more than just platonic, and that the creators were well aware of that, yes? And that if any of the movies had jokingly alluded to a romance between Steve and Bucky, it would have actually kind of undermined the ship more effectively than the whole 'straightwashing', no homo thing that Marvel decided to go with instead?

I have to admit, although I believe you, I don't actually recall whether or not a joke like that was ever made in any of the movies. I feel like it must have been, but that might well be because I've only watched the movies a couple of times and I've read so much amazing fic in which that is a given that is has completely replaced canon in my mind 😂

But if you're right, then yes, I fully agree. It's SO obviously present in the Cap movies, this deep love and bond they share, that it would be kind of crazy if no one ever made the 'boyfriend' joke or something to that effect. And if so, the fact that no one did almost has to mean that that was a deliberate choice (because they're cowards and they were afraid of giving people the 'wrong' idea and invite them to ship them (more), even though in reality it might have actually done the opposite, mostly because people were already intensely and very seriously shipping them, lol). Of course, the topic has come up during promo, and the Russos have joked about it too, but the movies themselves were very rigorously no homo'd, that much is true. The closest we got to someone alluding to how it really was was Rumlow's "Your pal, your buddy, your Bucky" line, I think, but that was far from a joke, of course.

The recent promo material of all of us stranger made home think about an actor au mormor (just because Paul Mescal has very seb vibes)

And also about Jim as an actor.

In my mind he was a child actor being kind of abused by a greedy father /parents and then he broke free of it, grew up and during his teens early adulthood he indulged in those little homo erotic adventures and didn’t care who saw ( possible tension with Carl ?)
