Feitan carefully held the little girl's hand. He had never held another child before, but he knew that he had to be gentle. The little girl seemed to have calmed down when he held her hand, but she was still silent, her big eyes fixed on Feitan's face.

He walked through the city streets, avoiding the busy crowds and the noisy traffic. He lived in a dirty alleyway on the outskirts of the city, in a small tent that he had set up against the wall of a building. It was a quiet and secluded place, hidden away from the rest of the city.

As Feitan approached his tent, he saw that the little girl was still looking around, taking in her new surroundings. He carefully let go of her hand and spread out a small pile of blankets on the floor, and he sat down.

"This my home. You live here" he said. "This where we live now."

Feitan spent the rest of the day showing the little girl around their little home. The little girl watched his every move with a mixture of curiosity and caution. She still didn't speak, but Feitan could tell that she was beginning to feel more comfortable around him. He knew that it would take time for her to trust him completely, but he was patient. He was determined to give her a safe home, no matter what.

As the days passed, Feitan and the little girl settled into a routine. They would wake up early in the morning and Feitan would go out to scavenge for food and supplies, leaving the little girl to explore their little home.

The little girl was still mostly silent, but she would occasionally make small noises or gestures that indicated that she was beginning to understand Feitan's language. He was grateful for even the smallest signs of progress, and he made sure to reward her with smiles and gentle touches whenever she did something new.

Despite the difficult circumstances of their lives, Feitan and the little girl were beginning to find a sense of comfort and security in each other's company.

One day, while sitting in their home, there was a whistling sound outside of their tent. The little girl looked up, startled, and Feitan could hear the hesitation in her breathing. He quickly stood up and walked to the entrance of their home, cautiously peeking out.

To his surprise, he saw his fellow Troupe member Shalnark standing outside. Feitan hadn't seen him in a while, and he wondered why he had come to visit.

"Hey Feitan," Shalnark greeted him with a smile. "Long time no see. Can I come in?"

Feitan hesitated, unsure of what to do. He didn't want to bring any unnecessary attention to himself or the little girl, but he also didn't want to be rude to Shalnark.

"Hmm, sure," Feitan finally replied, stepping aside to let Shalnark in.

Shalnark looked around their tent, taking in the small space and sat on the floor. He noticed the little girl sitting quietly in the corner and gave her a friendly wave, but she didn't respond.

"What bring you here?" Feitan asked, trying to keep his tone casual.

Shalnark's expression turned serious. "We're having a meeting. The Troupe. Tonight. Everyone's going to be there. I thought you should know."

Feitan hesitated for a moment, thinking about what to do with the little girl. He couldn't just leave her alone, and he didn't want to bring her to a Troupe meeting. But he knew he couldn't ignore Shalnark's request either.

Feitan looked at the little girl, who was sitting quietly on the blankets. He knew he had no choice but to take her with him.

"Ok. Will come" he said to Shalnark.

Shalnark nodded, sensing that Feitan didn't want to talk about it further. "Okay, let's go then."

Feitan picked up the little girl and held her close to him as they walked to the meeting place. He could feel her small hand trembling against his, and he knew that she was scared. He tried to reassure her by patting her head, but he could tell that it wasn't working.

When they arrived at the meeting place, Feitan saw the rest of the Troupe sitting around the old building. They all looked up when he entered with the little girl in his arms. There was a moment of silence as they took in the unusual sight.

Feitan walked over and sat on a huge rock then made the little girl sat down next to him. He could feel her tiny hand clutching onto his shirt tightly, as if she was afraid he would leave her alone.

The meeting began, with the Boss discussing their next job. Feitan tried to pay attention, but he couldn't focus with the little girl sitting next to him, her wide eyes taking in everything around her. He knew he had to find a way to take care of her while also being a member of the Troupe. He would have to figure out how to make it work.

Chrollo could sense Feitan's distraction and looked over at him. "Feitan, is there something you want to share with the group?" he asked, his tone even.

Feitan hesitated, unsure of what to say. He didn't want to reveal that the little girl's presence was bothering him.

"Nothing." Feitan answered.

Chrollo raised an eyebrow, but didn't press the issue further. He knew that Feitan would share more if and when he was ready.

"Very well," Chrollo said.

The Boss continued with the meeting, explaining that their mission was to steal a supply of food from a truck that was delivering it to a nearby village. The people in Meteor City were in desperate need of food, but the truck was owned by a rival gang who had no intention of sharing their resources.

Feitan listened intently, his mind racing with ideas on how to execute the mission. He knew that the Troupe had to act quickly, as the rival gang was notorious for their violence and would not hesitate to retaliate if they discovered the theft.

After the meeting, Feitan pulled Chrollo aside. "Boss, I need to ask for your help with something," he said, looking at him seriously.

"What is it?" Chrollo asked.

Feitan explained the situation with the little girl and his concern for her safety during the mission. Chrollo listened carefully, nodding understandingly. "Don't worry, Feitan. We'll figure out a way to keep her safe," he reassured him.

The day of the mission arrived, and the Troupe set out to intercept the truck. They had planned the operation meticulously, with each member assigned a specific task to ensure the success of the mission.

Feitan's role was to disable the truck's security system and keep watch for any potential threats. He slipped into the shadows, his eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger. Suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching. He tensed, ready to attack, but then he saw the little girl's face peeking out from behind a nearby tree.

Feitan's heart skipped a beat. He couldn't believe that the little girl had followed him, but there was no time to dwell on it. He quickly scooped her up and hid her behind a nearby bush, telling her to stay quiet and out of sight.

With the girl safely hidden away, Feitan resumed his position and successfully disabled the truck's security system. The rest of the Troupe quickly moved in and began to unload the food from the truck.

However, their success was short-lived as the rival gang appeared on the scene, armed and ready for a fight. The Troupe quickly took defensive positions, their weapons at the ready.

Feitan's heart was pounding in his chest as he watched the rival gang approach. He was ready to fight to protect the Troupe and the little girl, but he didn't want to risk her safety. Suddenly, he heard a loud explosion, and the rival gang was thrown back, their weapons flying out of their hands.

Feitan turned to see Chrollo, standing confidently with something in his hand. "Let's go, Feitan," he said calmly, gesturing to the rest of the Troupe who were already making their escape.

Feitan grabbed the little girl and followed after the Troupe.

KilluGon and the Chimera Ant Arc

idk what to title this. but it’s basically just a few interesting killugon parallels and connections i found in the CAA. (SPOILERS AHEAD!!)

“Precious.”

“You’re the only one for me!”

The Killua scene happens in chapter 219. The Palm and Knov scene happens right after, in chapter 220.

Y’all know the story. Killua fights a rabbit and proclaims Gon as his “most precious friend” . Killua thinks of all their moments together, the most emphasized one being from the dodgeball game when Gon said some gay shit to him.

“KILLUA JA NAKYA DAME NAN DA!” is the exact phrase Gon used.

It’s a romantic phrase in Japan. The English equivalent is :

Killua is the only one for me! ; it has to be Killua! ; Killua is my one and only!

READ THIS ARTICLE. IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING ABOUT GON AND THE PHRASE HE USED.

The top panel is the next chapter when Knov caught Palm using her power without his permission. He manipulates her by saying “Your blood is precious resource.” , knowing exactly how that word would affect her. After hearing Knov say “precious” , Palm thinks to herself “Knov is the only one for me!”

i wanted to address that each scene uses different wording BUT they all mean the same thing, just like how there’s multiple ways to say English words and phrases, it’s. the. same. thing. romantic phrases. preciousness. one and only.

Gon :

じゃなきゃダメなんだ (Ja nakya dame nan da) = You’re the only one for me / It has to be you

Palm :

しかいない (Shika inai) = You’re the only one for me / There is only you

Killua :

大事な (Dajina) = Precious / Important

Knov :

貴重 (Kichō) = Precious / Valuable

Anyway, the point is, Togashi’s intentions with this little connection is clear. Knov calling Palm’s blood “precious” and Palm saying “Knov is the only one for me” which was expressed in a very romantic manner, and it all happened like 15 minutes after Killua and Gon said the same things abt each other.

Palm and Knov paralleled Gon and Killua from the very moment they were first introduced.

I’m working on a separate post that focuses solely on the parallels between PalmKnov and GonKillua because it’s a lot.

“Can I stay by your side?”

“Would you stay by my side?”

The bottom panel is the conversation between Meruem and Komugi before they... you know... shinjuu.

I know I talk a lot about Palm and Knov paralleling/reflecting killugon but the parallels with Meruem and Komugi go CRAZY. It's so underrated. The above dialogue is just one example of the many parallels.

Isn't it interesting how Togashi chose to make Gon and Killua reflect not just one but TWO romantic pairings so far?

"I want to stay by your side... always........."

"I'll stay with you... forever!!"

(they make me so sick it hurts)

Importance

I never realized how big of a theme "importance" was in hxh. It connects everything all together.

In the top left panel, it explains how Komugi is important to Pitou because of how Komugi is important to Meruem, and Meruem is important to Pitou.

But the thing is, although Pitou already knew it, Meruem (at the time) didn't realize that Komugi was the thing most important to him. The thing most important wasn't his initial goal of taking over the world, but the person he met along the way, the one who flipped his world upside down and gave him his first feelings of friendship and love.

Meruem didn't realize Komugi was most important to him until after they were separated and reunited again. He fully understood her importance as they prepared to die together (shinjuu).

Oh, and then we have Gon, Killua, and Palm, of course. And Ging.

We're all familiar with Killua's little breakdown. Palm reassured him that she wasn't the one most important to Gon, but that it was Killua all along. Killua is the most important to Gon.

Killua then also becomes important to Palm, because of how Killua is important to Gon, and Gon is important to Palm.

But the thing is, although Palm already knew it, Gon (at the time) didn't realize that Killua was the thing most important to him. The thing most important wasn't his initial goal of finding his dad, but the person he met along the way, the one who flipped his world upside down and gave him his first feelings of friendship and love.

Gon's true feelings and thoughts are actually still unclear, which leads me to believe that his story with Killua isn't over yet. I can only assume that he'll have a similar realization just like Meruem.

According to the bottom right panel, Gon will "inherit" the heart of realizing what (or who, in this case) is truly important. Togashi told us right there in bold lettering.

You alr know that man is cookin somethin real good up 🔥

"You are the one most important to Gon."

Love

"It'll be a lovers suicide."

"His most beloved...." "Gon."

"Love will always prevail!!"

Ok but can we talk about how HISOKA of all people was the first to say it outloud that Gon and Killua are something more than friends? His little speech doesn't sound that ambiguous to me, he make it pretty clear that Gon is KIllua's beloved, right after using a hetero romantic couple as an example. read my post about this moment here!!

Love love love. HXH IS ABOUT LOVE. The main love of focus is between Gon and Killua, obviously.

And yeah, i know two of the panels aren't CAA related, but everything is indirectly connected to that arc so i'll allow it.

I already have a post regarding "the teachings of love" and how it connects to killugon. here ya go.

yeah. that's all i got for tonight.

long story short :

hxh gay killugon canon killugon reflect romantic pairings everywhere even hisoka admits it KILLUA LITERALLY ADMITTED IT OUT LOUD. killugon will reunite and maybe shinjuu together. thats how they end. just like komumu and meruru

rating record of ragnarok characters /10, because i can.

DISCLAIMER: i’m only rating the characters based off what the manga & anime has portrayed. i’ve done little to no research on these people themselves, which is why i don’t condone anything immoral that they’ve done. this was written before the release of chapter 73+

a/n: i think i wanna do this for every anime + genshin & val. PLS WATCH IT & LMK IF YOU GUYS LIKE IT. also i dont care abt grammatical and/or punctual errors, this is a shit post

MANGA SPOILER WARNING!!

THOR: first of all, he’s so fucking hot. his smile caught me so off guard tho, i kinda just stood there watching the screen, baffled. not much character to him, he’s just hot. 7/10

LU BU: i’m chinese, i literally feel so happy when i see chinese characters. biased, but definitely a plus. he, just like thor, has little to no character. first character i called hot, is hot, but there are hotter characters. (what, i am not talking abt hermes wdym?) 7/10

HERMES: 10/10. no explanation. my man right there. i literally scream & cream every time i see him. why is he so fine. not a single panel or clip where he looks bad. pls eat me out, sir i beg. i will serve you. ONE CHANCE. JUST ONE?? i’m in love with him. who needs real men or women when hermes.

GOLL: she is SO ANNOYING. her eng & jp voice are both annoying asl. she’s that one character, that exists in mostly every anime, used to explain background info & battle info on other characters. brunhilde is too nice on her. she reminds me of when i first saw yachi (haikyuu) on screen. yachi, too, was annoying. but i grew to love her🫶. 1/10

BRUNHILDE: SHES SO HOT. ATE. SHE ALDNAHDISKZ. yeah, what else is there to say? 8/10

APHRODITE: she truly lives up to her version in the greek mythology. hottest woman/goddess alive. ate. her boobs, i want to squish them & bury my face in them. WHEN IS IT MY TURN TO HOLD THEM? 8/10

ZEUS: idgaf what anyone says, he’s not hot. not even his younger self. he looks like mirio (mha) turned netero (hxh). love his character tho. the eyes scared me at first. he’s hilarious. 5/10

ADAM: my friend, the one who recommended snv to me, told me he’d be more my type. he was, minus the fact that’s he literally butt fucking naked. nice ass cheeks tho. def pretty boy, his wife is hot too. i want her more😋. his line abt fighting for his children made me cry. should’ve won. i say, let hermes be uncleless & fatherless. 7/10

POSEIDON: he was fs the blueprint for adam. anywho, yk hes fine. SOOO FINE. meowing for him. he doesn’t beat hermes tho. nobody beats hermes. well, look wise at least. it was rlly hard choosing who to root for in this fight. that’s a lie, i was always on humanity’s side. sad he died:( 9/10. -1 for being a little, arrogant, narcissistic, egotistical bitch. 8/10

SASAKI KOJIRO: see, zeus coulda been hot like him at that old age. man aged like fine wine. character was a W. hot, determined, good character, funny. what else can you want from a man? 8/10

HERACLES: disappointed. so disappointed. he looked better in the disney ver. this fight was so boring for me. you’re telling me i’m supposed to watch the fight instead of ogling at hot characters? no. character was okay. 6/10

JACK THE RIPPER: massive L. not supporting a murderer. next. 0/10

SHIVA: hot from the beginning. 4 arms? do what you want to me, sir. 3 WIVES? tengen (kny), is that you bro?😭 anywho, he’s cocky, def my type irl LMAO. i wouldn’t let that slide tho.. his wives are hot too😋 8/10

RAIDEN TAMEEMON: i paid very little attention to this fight. don’t remember his backstory too well (i read this fight not even 24 hours ago btw). not that good looking, not ugly either. i liked his character, upset he took 3 of shiva’s arms. why 3? why not 2? he got 1 arm left. 4/10

BUDDHA: THATS MY GOD RIGHT THERE. ate. i’m not religious, and neither are my family, but they are buddhist, so by default, i am too. i personally think buddhism is the best religion, but we’re not gonna get into that. i have very valid reasons btw. love his personality, love his looks. massive W. ofc he fights for humanity. he’s a walking W. 9/10

ZEROFUKU: precious. definition of deserved better. what made me sad, is how he was written during the fight. he’s consistently hitting, with little to no strategy. his backstory is sad, but his battle exp was written poorly. also the random ass monster possessing took me tf out. 7/10

HADES: fine ass mf. he’s so different from how he’s usually portrayed, both look & personality wise. the first W netflix has pulled. he’s hot and responsible? persephone, we can share him babes. also, the relationship between him & poseidon made me SOB. like actually. hurt so bad i made an angst edit. 9/10

QIN SHI HUANG: first off, i don’t do research on my own ethnicity’s history. i didn’t even know who tf lu bu was. my family knew tho. with that aside, PROUD TO BE CHINESE❗️ he’s so fine. SO FINE. the way his character was written, was wonderful. i loved the fight between him & hades. the tension & the lengths they went to try & win. 9/10

BEELZEBUB: his backstory was so tragic. what i didn’t like, was how they rushed his & lilith’s story. like, they kinda randomly said i love you to each other. i’d love to see their adventures tgt. lilith, leave that emo thing, and come be w me. he’s fine too. i rlly like how they introduced him. 8/10

NIKOLA TESLA: i don’t have much of an opinion on him. very chatty, which i don’t actually mind. i guess we’ll have to wait for more chapters to release before i form an opinion on him. 5/10

ODIN: the hair bro. THE HAIR. i keep forgetting he exists, but i’m not his biggest fan. not bad, but i prefer his sons. i do like the theory of him being a traitor. he looks the part. 5/10

LOKI: honestly, i liked him a lot in the beginning, but now, it’s like he’s kinda on the side. cute & hot. thor is the better brother tho. speaking of, how tf are they even brothers? moving on, i like his personality. i like his shocked, mixed w angry, facial expressions more. 7/10

ARES: the hair again. very stylish, i do like it, but it took me out. walking around looking like a school girl. i don’t like how he tries to be a know-it-all w hermes, when he literally relies on him for info. but that’s my man for you. his expressions are SO WELL. 6/10

ADAMAS: i was awfully confused, at first, when there were 3 older brothers to zeus. usually, it’s just hades, poseidon & zeus. not his biggest fan, his character was rushed. 4/10

BONUSES

JESUS: i was very happy to see jesus. i’m not sure why, i just was. why is he the only character, THAT LOOKS LIKE THEMSELVES? 9/10

Isekai - Yandere!ShalnarkxFem!Reader 02

Prologue Chapter 01 Chapter 03 Chapter 04 Synopsis: You have an unfortunate encounter with Truck-kun which leads you to wake up in the HXH universe.

Once you've calmed down you decided to buy the game guide you were holding and a couple more. You were dealing with Shalnark after all. Buying a phone might not be the best option. Depending on the model it would have GPS. It would be way too easy to find you. He might not know your name but he knew your face and your voice. There might be a nen ability out there, one Chrollo might have, that could track you down with just that bit of information.

Internet cafes would be your best bet if you wanted to access the web. You hoped there would be one close to your hotel. But for now, you decided to focus on the game guides you just bought. There could be some helpful cheat codes in there.

Once you arrived at your hotel room you decided to take some drinks from the overpriced mini fridge. You had more than enough money to pay for whatever ridiculous fee the hotel had on taking any of the items from the fridge.

You put all the game guides you bought on your bed. You had the Fortress Watch guide, one for a game that looked like Grand theft Auto 5, one for a game that looked like Skyrim, and lastly one for a game that looked like Minecraft.

While you knew the Fortress Watch one had cheat codes as well you were drawn to the one for the game that looked like Skyrim. You remember there being a code for godmode and you were desperate to activate it. And sure enough, the first cheat code listed on the page was the one that activated it.

You were quick to activate it. And unlike last time when nothing happened after filling in a cheat code your vision filled up with two words.

Godmode activated.

Reading that filled you with relief. Feeling like you could breathe easy now knowing that Shalnark nor anyone else could hurt you.

But you weren't satisfied yet. While you couldn't get hurt now you were still very vulnerable in comparison to a lot of people. You had the perfect defense, now you just needed some offense.

While you could try your hand at nen that was too slow. You needed power and you needed power fast. And the guide you were holding was perfect for that. Apparently, this game had spells. Basics such as shooting fireballs to healing and more.

Since you were immune to damage now you decided that you didn't need healing spells. So you decided to focus on strong spells. Ones that could hopefully help you survive in a world full of crazy nen users.

You quickly filled in the cheat code that lets you use the spell Fire Storm. It was the strongest fire spell in the game. But when you tried to activate it you found that nothing happened. Part of you was relieved as you realized you would've burned down your room if you actually succeeded. But you were still worried that nothing happened.

That's when you noticed a new bar in your vision. This one was titled mana and it was completely empty.

Turns out you needed to follow the rules of the game and mana was still necessary to use spells. Luckily for you, there was an infinite mana cheat code and you were quick to fill that in.

And also a less damaging spell. While you would survive it you doubted your neighbors could. So you quickly filled in a cheat code that activated the spell Candle as well. This one just produced a small flame in the palm of your hand.

Seeing that your mana bar was completely filled you activated the spell. Amazed to see a small but bright flame flicker in your hand.

On top of that despite activating it rapidly for a minute your mana didn't go down. Relieved that both cheats worked you turned Candle off and went looking for more spells you could add.

In the end, you added a bunch more spells: 1- Invisibility 2- Telekenis 3- Flame Thrall 4- Incinerate 5- Bound sword

The first two were pretty obvious. The fourth was a weaker version of Fire Storm. The third summoned a fire elemental that would defend you until it died or you told it to return home. And the last one conjured up a sword for two minutes.

The last one made you remember something. So you hoped the book would have these codes as well. And luckily for you, it had. Items could be added through cheat codes as well.

So you added some impressive-looking swords and shields to your inventory. It didn't seem to matter how much you added to your inventory. And even if it did the game guide had a cheat code to activate infinite capacity to your inventory anyways.

It made you giggle. You were now the world's best conjurer and you couldn't even use nen. With that in mind, you went through the other game guides in search of other useful items you could add.

The GTA knockoff had guns and other firearms. So you added a bunch of those as well. While not useful against someone like Uvogin you really hoped you wouldn't run into him anyways.

The Minecraft-looking game guide didn't really interest you at the moment. It wasn't as if you were going to mine for ore anytime soon. But than you saw the cheatcode for a diamond sword. Feeling intrigued you added it to your inventory.

When you made it appear you gasped at how pretty it was. Even though you weren't a skilled sword fighter it could still be useful. You could sell it. Although you doubted you would get in much trouble financially any time soon to deem that worth the time.

After you put everything in your inventory you decided that it was time to leave. Not just your hotel but York New as well. You needed a place far away where you could test your spells without anyone seeing you. It wasn't nen after all so anyone could see this.

After checking out, assuring the receptionist that you didn't need your money back, you made your way to the airport. From there on you could find your best destination.

Part of you wanted to visit Whale Island but you didn't want to risk putting Mito and the other people of Whale island at risk.

If money wasn't so easy to get you would try your hand at heavens arena. Maybe you could've been the only non nen user to beat anyone above floor 200. But you weren't interested in that mess. It would put too many eyes on you. You were trying to lay low for now after all.

With all the time in the world and nowhere else to be you decided to just go to the airport. Hopefully, you would find your answer there.

Unfortunately, your destination was now the least of your worries. Because you overlooked one simple thing.

You didn't own a passport.

Without it, you couldn't go very far. And since you wanted to at least leave the country that left you trapped here.

Fortunately, you still had a whole bunch of money. In fact you had more than you could ever use. After remembering a cheat code that gave you 50.000 instead of just 1000 you went ham and added money until you ended up a millionaire.

Part of you was worried that someone would check up on to see how you got money so fast. But turns out your card was a prepaid credit card. Which made it much easier to avoid being detected.

After cashing in enough money for a fake passport you made your way to an internet cafe. While you didn't have access to the hunter web you were sure you could find a convincing fake passport on the dark web.

But that was easier said than done. After searching for an hour you started to realize that illegal goods wouldn't be so easy to find.

"Fake passport? Now, what do you need that for?"

"To get out of the country." You reply with a sigh.

A silence kicked in before you realized what you just did. You pretty much jumped out of your seat as you turned to the source of the voice. And who else would it be other than Shalnark?

Fuck, when did he get here? You thought to yourself.

Once again the word Cute popped up in cursive. Making you blush. Embarrassed that he thought of you as cute and frustrated that your fear was endearing to him.

"I'm afraid ordering anything from this site will give you nothing but a trip to prison. But I can help you if you need it?"

The offer of help was suspicious to you but unfortunately, you currently couldn't read his thoughts.

"What kind of help?"

"The kind you need."

"That's vague… But alright I suppose. As you already know I need a fake passport. Money is no objective either," you pulled the large stack of Jenny out of your pocket. Making Shalnark frown for a second before his smile returned.

"Careful with that now, you wouldn't anyone else to see that. Someone might put a target on your back," he advised.

You normally would've taken that more seriously, and not just because he was a terrifying thief. But you were invincible now. Not to mention even if it got stolen you could just make more.

All you did was nod before putting it back in your pocket.

"Besides, I don't want your money."

"You don't? Then why would you help me?"

"Just because I don't want your money doesn't mean I don't want anything else." He smiled at you. Making you want to back off. His usual smile was offputting enough as you knew how awful he was inside, but this one was too eager for words.

Without any prompting on your part, the blonde kept talking.

"I want you to go on a date with me, Y/N."

The moment he said your name your blood ran cold. Turns out he was more intrigued by you than you hoped he was. Because he took the time to look you up.

Most likely getting frustrated that he couldn't find anything about you too. While you had no clue how he found out your name you knew that him using your name was a warning.

He was asking you out to be polite. Not because he had to. As if to prove you right he pulled out his phone. Which made you flinch. It took you a second to calm down. Which was a second too late as he already saw it.

His smile grew and you only now noticed the words floating beneath his face. But you were too panicked to read them. Unfortunately, they quickly disappeared as he spoke up again.

"How about tonight at the Catch 44?" he asked but it was clear that he wasn't looking for an answer. "I'll book us a table for two at 6 pm. The restaurant has a black tie dress code, so wear something nice." All that was said without any input from you.

Not that it mattered. His word might as well be law. You might be unbreakable but that didn't mean he couldn't get to you in different ways.

Despite all the spells and firearms you had, you were sure he was still stronger than you. Killing you wasn't an option but capturing you sure was. Even if you decided to fight him you weren't sure the collateral damage would be worth it.

Which left you with little choice but to agree. So you nodded at him. Which caused his smile to brighten. You could swear his eyes started to sparkle too.

"Great! I'll see you there! Don't be late, Y/N!" Those words felt more ominous than they should. But everything the manipulator said felt ominous to you.

Just like yesterday, he left by waving at you until you were out of sight. Once he was finally gone you slumped in your seat. Letting out a long-suffering sigh.

Just one date couldn't hurt, right?

i have been fed and i must make stupid internet doodles about it

my wife is so successful and popular (said with distress) and she is doing her best and she just wanted to do healing and said 'noooo' to murders and she cried about kacho and hates being called old and kurapika is the only one she can rely on and i'm gonna cry

more thoughts (not interesting) under the cut because this is an art blog but I am compelled to yell into the void about this chapter

man I was ready to be happy just to see Melody for one panel, but there was So Much in this chapter 🥺 feels like we're getting to see some new facets of her personality (see: Old Maid Melody lmaoo) and it's so fun

it was nice to see her and Kacho getting to interact a bit more openly - for some reason I was expecting nen-Kacho to be more of a separate entity, rather than the "brought back to life" kind of deal where she basically feels and acts like she's the same person? I like it though, I want to see her messing with Melody some more lol

I was wondering if Kurapika's goal might come up re: the fourth prince's invitation, but it seems like the immediate concern with Fugetsu takes priority, which makes sense Zhang Lei also wanting a private audience is interesting, I wonder if that could give her and Kurapika an opportunity to meet up and plan things out before she visits terrorsandwich? Before all that, though, they'd have to deal with Benjamin (assuming it's a first-rank-first-served kind of deal), no idea how that's gonna work out unless they actually pull off the Just Murder Everyone plan

also lmaooo the love confession 😂 one the one hand I feel like all her initial suspicion and mistrust towards glasses guy has to be a setup for him to actually be more honest than she expects, but I still can't help being a bit skeptical of him... both because there has to be something going on with the heartbeat thing, right?

and also, even if it is probably what's most practical for the situation, I'm not toootally sure if I love this "stop being sad and go use your powers to help us do murders" thing lol (granted kacho was very on board with both of those, too, but. idk man, maybe at least try to comfort her a little or something? xD)

that said, he is kind of risking his neck to help them, and i Am extremely in favor of anyone and everyone being in love with melody, so i appreciate him for that haha

okay, totally baseless "theory" #1: he's melody's dead sonata friend possessing the body (& therefore lying about the not believing in ghosts thing) - probably unlikely given Fugetsu is also said to be "possessed" and that looks very different, plus it sounds like that's something Melody should be able to notice? but it'd give him a genuine motive to help her out while lying through his teeth about all the details

or totally baseless theory #2: he's literally just a normal guy with a medical condition

melody: but I just don't get it, HOW can your heartbeat be so calm and steady all the time?!? kaiser: oh, cause of the pacemaker you mean? melody:

(**based on about 2 minutes of research I don't think that's quite how pacemakers work, but it's hxh universe, there could be Something)

(on an unrelated note, I also really liked Tyson in this chapter…sounds like she was basically pressured into a death battle she assumes she won't win, but she's still just out here baking birthday cakes and trying to have a good time :( rootin for her)

...and finally can I just say, even if there was a good reason for it, I think it's hilarious that Melody's reaction to someone liking her is just "hmm... 🤔 kinda sus" alternative responses to "i love you": "with a heart rhythm as precise as an atomic clock?! yeah right!"

It is one of my favourites so far! We got a lot from just few pages and I am very happy about it :)

Here come some random thoughts:

1- It seems that what I mentioned here and here about the Heil-Ly being the Spiders' mirror is being addressed already:

The Heil-ly are the Spiders' negative foil and Morena especially is Chrollo's negative foil. They are meant to bring to light what the group and its leader have been refusing to face about themselves.

I would not be surprised if the more we know of Chrollo's background the more his connection with Morena becomes clearer thematically. Speaking of connections...

2- Hello Sheila!

For people, who have not read it (even if I doubt there are that many by this point :''')) she is the girl Pairo and Kurapika find and help out in Kurapika's backstory. She is the reason why Kurapika wants to explore the world. Unconsciously she is also probably the reason why he wants to become a Hunter himself. She is presented to us as idealistic, good natured and determined to become a Hunter, even if she is definately clumsy and slightly unprepared to face the world.

This chapter shows a younger Sheila, but keeps her characterization intact. Moreover, it reveals she comes from Meteor City and used to be friends with Chrollo. This info is very interesting because it gives us a hint of what may have happened between the Kurta and the Spiders:

The Spiders annihilated the Kurta and stole their eyes. However, they also left a note with Meteor's city motto, which has been reminded to us this chapter: "We refuse nothing, so do not take anything from us".

This modus operandi feels strange and contradictory. After all, the Spiders are introduced as ruthless thieves that killed the Kurta for their eyes. Uvo's words in YS together with the cruelty they displayed in killing the Kurta (forcing adults to see their children die, so that their eyes become a more brighter red) seem to confirm it. However, the note they left behind seems off... what could the Kurta have ever taken from them?

Well, Sheila might be the answer to this conundrum. What if after Pairo and Kurapika said goodbye to her she was spotted by the Kurta Elders and killed to keep their location a secret? Her death would explain why the Spiders chose to attack the Kurtas of all people... Knowing Chrollo's coping mechanism I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to avenge Sheila hiding his grief behind an utilitarian objective, like... let's take the Kurtas' eyes and sell them at the black market.

I also think I prefer this theory over the more cynical ones I have heard about. Sheila being necessarily malicious towards the Kurta to the point she would help the Spiders to kill them would mean 1) that the Elders were right and the outside world is bad... hence Kurapika's childhood dream (which btw it is Gon and Killua's childhood dream) is worthless and 2) that Kurapika is indirectly responsible for his people's death, which really doesn't work for his arc and his survivor's guilt.

Sheila being an unknown catalyst to violence and tragedy instead works better on mutliple levels. First of all, it would make Kurapika's idealism the right thematic choice over the Elders' cycnism and fear of the other. Secondly, it would fit with the exploration of the cycle of revenge as fundamentally wrong and damaging to all sides. Thirdly, it would be sweet tragedy for both Chrollo and Kurapika... after all, Kurapika's dream comes from a person close to Chrollo, while Chrollo's act of violence hurt 2 friends of Sheila, who had helped her.

3- Kurapika and Chrollo's foiling is now deeper. Their background show them both as sweet idealistic kids, who grew up in secluded places dominated by a hierarchical group of elders. They are both considered prodigies and take an interest in the outside world. Kurapika is enchanted by Hunter D's book, while Chrollo scavenges Meteor City's ruins to find tapes and discover more about other cultures and languages. Still, it is clear that the both of them were deeply traumatized by a cynism catalyst... Kurapika's the destruction of his clan, while Chrollo's is yet to be seen.

4- This foiling makes the structure of the arc overall stronger and clearer. To be more specific, Kurapika, Chrollo, Tserriednich and Morena's criss crossed foiling seems to be the thematic heart of this storyline.

As already stated, Kurapika foils and opposes Tserriednich, while Chrollo has Morena as a counter-part. However, Kurapika also foils Morena, while Chrollo clearly foils Tserriednich as well.

Both Kurapika and Morena have become key figures in the current war and both are trying to spread the knowledge of nen, but they do so in opposite ways. Kurapika hopes that more people learning of the power would mean more princes would survive and the status quo is protected. Morena instead wants to fight the status quo, by provoking a revolution by sharing nen with people from humble origins. Not to consider they are both on a suicidal spirals.

Both Chrollo and Tserriednich are instead collectors of people. Chrollo collects people's "souls" (their nen powers) in his book, while Tserriednich collects body-parts. They are both incredibly intelligent and ruthless and even if they are so far being more passive... they are clearly 2 of the main forces who will influence the war. Not only that, but it is possible both have isolated themselves from others:

It is too soon to say, but the group of "friends", who are clearly smart and talented, but choose to keep their distance from Tserriednich, so that they can preserve their "friendship" with him is interesting... and it touches on something common to all 4 characters: loneliness and isolation.

Kurapika has friends ready to help him and has quickly become the center of an alliance among hunters, but he chooses to keep everyone at a distance. He avoids answering his loved ones calls and tries not to involve his closer ones in his business.

Chrollo is the leader of a group he himself has chosen to treat as an ideal instead than a family. He clearly loves and treasures the Spiders, but probably because of this and of the fear of loss, he has chosen not to treat them as individuals, but as a part of an organism that is immortal precisely because everyone is replaceable.

Morena is the leader of a group she is clearly using for her own great suicide attempt. She acts as the savior and the messiah of her people, but she is really just a gamer using them and herself as board pieces.

Finally, Tserriednich is a Prince who believes himself to be superior than everyone else. He apparently has no problems killing his own friends. And yet, he seems to have people, who are loyal to him, despite it all. People who would like for him to change, but do not believe it to be possible, so they are uncertain on how to reach to him... or even if they can reach to him. Not to mention Theta, who sees him as dangerous and tries to slow his progress with nen. She even plans to kill Tserriednich. However, she is also ready to kill herself after his death. There is clearly something deeper going on with the 4th prince army...

And this is all... more or less... I also have some crack theories and ideas, but they are really just headcanons and not meta thoughts :)
