pokey is SO BLUE!! bro has blue tights that melt into the shoes seemingly. a connection to everything being SIGNULAR. that's a stretch BUT! they look like stereotypical shoes in a theater closet (not blue but the shape). as some one in theater, the shoes are usually uncomfy and pointy NOW. these shoes look comfy but theyre still pointy! i dont know much about shoes but yes.

I am in love with his musical. I was very lucky to get to go and see The Phantom of The Opera at His Majesty's Royal Theatre in London.

I LOVED IT.

I have been listening to this sound track on repeat all week, I have been so invested in this story, I just had to cross over it. So this is a crossover of the musical, not the movie, very important distinction because the musical is different, and better

Honestly I have a lot to say but I'll ramble in the tags heh.

Dream is going to be left gender ambiguous here, so if you want them to be a he like regular Dream you can, but if you want them to be a she like Christine then you can!

Also Cross' scar is only present for some of these drawings, because I decided he gets it from broken glass coming off the falling chandelier.

A kind of more detailed synopsis of how the Crossover lore works. And my concept art :)

In this Cross over, Dream and Nightmare were twins, but from babyhood, Nightmare had a strange mass of gloop around his eye. First covered with a small mask, the mass grew more over time. He ran away from home at age 6 and was taken by a circus to become the star of a freakshow attraction.

Over his travels he learned a lot and was proven to be a musical prodigy, but the mass grew. Soon wrecking one side of his face and covering one side of his body, that's why he wears one glove, and has the tendrils, hiddenunderneathhis cloak.

Eventually he found himself at the opera house, and lived there secretly, living as the oprea ghost.

And then who should turn up, but Dream, moving in with the other dancers after their mother's death. It didn’t take long for Night to recognise their twin, and seek to keep on eye on them from a distance. To protect them, but also teach them to sing.

Protecting to be an angel of music, and instructing Dream from the shadows. And Dream growing convinced that he's the spirit of their 'dead' brother, and they were kind right.

And in a true dreammare fashion, some of this sibling protectiveness turned into a bit of a more twisted obsessive love in Nightmare...

And that's most of the stuff that is changed, the rest stays mostly the same.

spoilers ahead!!

ok first of all: absolutely incredible. putting that out there first. i love this musical so much. jorge and everyone involved have done and continue to do fantastic work and it really shows.

i love how jorge brings back earlier parts of songs into later ones: both music and lyrics. it brings me so much excitement to see the connections.

now onto the songs:

song one: (the underworld)

the atmosphere is intimidating; you can feel the fear the characters are feeling. and when the souls of his men arrive: the vocals oh my god, i love them. and the imagery of them in the sky above him, watching him. and the infant from the first saga mention. the way the dead characters come back in this song is so heartbreaking but it’s amazing. hearing a polite’s reprise of open arms hurt so much oh my god. (jorge literally mouthed “i’m sorry” during this part in the livestream) oh and odysseus’ mom coming in too?? heart broken again. (also finding out jorge’s mom voiced her, awwww)

also i’d just like to add this comment jorge made during the live stream: no i’m not ok, it actually made me cry lol

song two: (no longer you)

this song is so poetic and i love it so much. of course there’s foreshadowing in this song cause he’s literally a prophet but the way it’s done here is so amazing. i love all the instrumentals in every song but the ending one for this song is so amazing oh my god.

song three: (monster)

dude the character development and change during this song: chef’s kiss. him mentioning the past antagonists of the earlier sagas and then comparing himself to them. him giving up all his morals so they can get home; so he can see his wife and son again.

“what if the greatest threat we’ll find across the sea… is me?” what a great line oh my god.

ooh and ending the saga with “i’ll become the monster.” i love it.

conclusion:

i love this musical so much. the music, lyrics, art, everything, like in every saga, is absolutely beautiful. just incredible.

Assassins as DSMP Characters

So i got really into this musical called "assassins" by steven soundheim, which is about 9 of the presidential assassinations (attemped and successful), and i was listening to "another national anthem" earlier today, and i got the random idea of it but with dsmp characters

It mostly started off from when I was listening to "the gun song" and thinking about SBI as the assassins there (Czolgosz as Techno, Booth as Phil, Guiteau as Wilbur, and Moore as Tommy). Then I was trying to think about the entire cast: that Czolgosz could really fit c!Techno, and then making the connection with Guiteau and c!Wilbur, Booth as c!Dream, the balladeer as c!Tommy, the proprietor as c!Ranboo or c!Phil (I leaned more toward c!Tommy), and then Byck as c!Ranboo

Keep in mind I haven't seen any recordings of the actual show, I just listened to the soundtrack and read about people's reactions to the show in comments and such. And also, it's been a while since I've consumed any primary sources for the dsmp, so I'm mostly going off memory (and I generally only watched Techno/Tommy's streams, though I did tune into others time to time)

I then fully fleshed out the whole sort of "cast" for "another national anthem":

Booth = Dream Zangara = Jack Czolgosz = Technoblade Hinckley = Sam Fromme = Karl Moore = Nihachu Guiteau = Wilbur Byck = Quackity Proprietor = Ranboo Balladeer = Tommy

For Booth and c!Dream, it was mostly cause they're both the most, like, "comically evil" of the bunch. I don't know exactly how to describe it but I'm sure everyone can get what I mean.

For Zangara and c!Jack, the whole sort of bitterness Zangara showed in "how i saved roosevelt" just reminds me alot of c!Jack's character, specifically the whole tommy anti plot that he had.

For Czolgosz and c!Techno, this was based on "the gun song" where Csolgosz' monologue about the workers strikes really similarly to c!Techno's anarchist opinions. I think in general communists and anarchists appear somewhat similarly to each other.

For Hinckley and c!Sam, Hinckley's whole bit in "unworthy of your love" just reminds me a lot about c!sam's "oh woe is me i do it for him"

For Fromme and c!Karl, I'm gonne be honest I don't remember why I made this connnection. In my notes I just wrote "karlnapity breakup." I feel like in general Hinckley and Fromme (and to a lesser extent Byck and Moore) don't really get much attention compared to the other assassins.

For Moore and c!Niki, same situation as with Fromme-Karl.

For Guiteau and c!Wilbur, it's because Guiteau is the most, like, manic!crazy of all of the assassins, which just reminds me alot of c!Wilbur. And just alot of beats from Guiteau's characterization feel VERY similarly to pogtopia!wilbur

For Byck and c!Quackity, I feel like Byck had alot of cynacism that feels very in line with c!Quackity's character

For the proprietor and c!Ranboo, I just feel like the proprietor is like sympathetic to the plights of the assassins, which to me felt very in line with c!Ranboo's whole "choose people not sides" bit he had going on. I was considering putting c!Dream here, considering he supplied people similarly to the proprietor in "everybody's got the right" but I thought that c!Dream would be better as Booth.

For the balladeer and c!Tommy, I just think that c!Tommy comes across as a stereotypical "oh but we must have hope no matter what!" shonen protagonist, and the balladeer just feels like a sort of antagonist to the assassins' cynical ideas, some people described him in "another national anthem" as if the embodiment of the American Dream (tm).
