Intro! in more depth
hello! i finally actually got tumblr wow. no more just lurking on the web version and getting screenshots from friends :)
my main focuses for this blog will probably be: (1) music, (2) ace/aro spectrum self-discovery stuff, (3) general stuff about psychology, (4) personal art projects. i also tend to ramble about random things i discover about being a person so if that shows up here don't be surprised. not sure if people usually make different blogs for these things but we'll see i guess.
my life: i am a university student! i'm a cognitive science major with psychology and neuroscience concentration and a gender studies minor. almost done with my bachelors yippee! i also have a radio show where i'm a DJ and get to propaganda the masses (/lh) yay. probably implied there but i am over 18 (i am 20). i also reside in the US. i am also queer. i use they/them pronouns and identify somewhere within the non-binary umbrella. probably agender. i am also currently unpacking my sexuality but i believe i am pretty strongly on the aromantic spectrum. i have been finding myself identifying more as just ambivalent to like everything gender/sexuality of late. i am a floating orb in space time idk man. most of why i made this account is to find more aromantic education resources.
i am also autistic and adhd, along with some crock pot of other stuff like anxiety depression ocd cptsd, and potentially bpd (also unpacking that one) and probably other things i am not remembering. insomnia if that counts i have incredibly chronic insomnia. some day maybe i will share my sleep charts where we see my average sleep hours are like 3 per night it's a nice chart.
i'm a leftist- or something around that area, terms can vary. if you are in any way a bigot, go away. this is not a place for homophobia, transphobia, racism, xenophobia, zionism, ableism, victim-blaming, sexism, or any other kind of discrimination etc. i strive to be aware of everything that i say but if there's ever any issues i am unaware of or could improve upon speaking about, feel free to educate me if you'd like!
i use tone indicators! will try to remember to put them in as much as i can if something needs it.
Tumblr media
i do a project called 'an album a day' and i'm hoping to share that for 2024!! if you have any super awesome albums to share, send them to me any time! above is a picture of last year's album a day! I will tag those posts with #azantisalbumaday2024
some current music hyperfixations: the narcissist cookbook, careful gaze, bloodywood, fast animals and slow kids, set to stun, bring me the horizon, fall out boy, muse, the amazing devil, nothing but thieves, autoheart, vienna teng, art sorority, jean dawson, my chemcial romance, you me at six, and like a million other artists for whom i don't know enough of their discography to list them here.
the main genres i listen to are metalcore, rock adjacent anything, metal, idk how to describe genres. i really love most music but rock adjacent is my main one. i love music very much i am incredibly autistic about it.
if you use it, feel free to follow me on last fm here!!
hobbies/other interests: trying to get hobbies that aren't being a student, playing piano, zines/lyric videos (working on these), zentangles!!, dogs, trying to be politically aware, applying to jobs i guess, general crafting things, hanging out with my friends whom i love dearly, board games, listening to music (but you probably got that already), psychology, autism (i am autistic dw), the sims, minecraft, OH i forgot spreadsheets i LOVEEEE spreadsheets. also will occasionally go on rants about books or movies, most currently, whiplash and bojack horseman but im sensing a hunger games fixation reemerging.
i am trying to get back into reading. planning on reading some webtoons and the new hunger games book soon so maybe we'll see stuff about that too.
my hot takes: radiohead is good, wet socks aren't that bad if you have ventilation (crocs for example), and days should have 26.5 hours.
feel free to ask me questions or lmk if there's other things i should add to this post. idk how to use tumblr

Today was the September gathering for our “Ten Thousand Tangles Creative Community Tangle Club” (simply “Tangle Club” for short!), with a group of us meeting up at Walkerville Artists Collective for a relaxing afternoon of tangling and socializing. For this “3-Pattern Challenge” session, members were introduced to “Boulder Builder” by Bunny Wright, CZT, “Boofont” by Joanna Quincey, CZT, and “Damsel Leaf” by Annett Rümpler, CZT and challenged to use all three patterns to create a design on a 3.5” square Zentangle tile. I think they rose to the challenge very nicely - isn’t their work lovely?! There’ll be more fun times to come, so if you’re in the Windsor area and would like to get together with other Zentangle enthusiasts, watch out for our scheduled gatherings and plan to join us!

Hi everyone! If anyone is actually seeing this, that is 😅 I thought I would take this chance to reintroduce myself and pretty much get all my thoughts about my page in one place.
First of all, my name is Saturn. Just like the planet. And you may refer to me with whichever pronouns you prefer, I’m not picky in the slightest about how people refer to me. :)
Second, I have fairly recently rediscovered my love for creating art. I mainly create abstract and/or zentangle pieces, though so far there are only a few I’m proud enough of to post. I also occasionally draw other things, which could be anything from little mushroom fairy houses to recreating posters from games I play.
I’m not on here looking for fame or anything like that. I just think tumblr is a neat place and perfect for sharing what I create. And if this somehow miraculously finds an audience, cool! That’s all for now. If you’ve read this far, thank you <3
-🪐
(Also if any of you on here are on the Tsuki’s Odyssey subreddit, I’ve posted a couple of my works there. I go by -m-chan- over there, so please don’t think I’m stealing any art 😊)

what would you like to be doing artistically five years from now, what are your sources of inspiration? Create a coherent, organized post.
I'm an artist that doesn't really work with Zentangles. Obviously explaining in my last post I find them boring and aggravating. But the kind of art I do deal with is Character design and poses. I'm also a cartoonist and working on becoming a full on animator. I describe my style as more of a wacky cartoon/anime style. I use the best attributes of certain art styles I love like large legs with huge heads. Here are some examples of what I can do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I create lots of stories with my characters so I imagine them doing lots of different actions in different art pieces. I also mainly work with digital art but I do sketch traditionally sometimes. As a kid I've always sketched around and made little doodles but I never really gone anywhere with it. I didn't bother putting detail into it cause I never saw myself as an artist. But when I was in middle school I saw friends of mine drawing in their notepads and I wanted to do what they were doing. I started to take it as a hobby in 8th grade, taking a sketch book with me where ever I go. And then the rest was history. I even got a certificate and a medal for my artistic abilities because my teacher saw how much I enjoyed them.
Something I do plan on doing for my future is definitely animation. I've always been fascinated by cartoons and I've always wanted to animate my characters. Just this year I've been learning the basics of animation and I feel like I'm getting somewhere. And soon once I've gathered enough experience I plan on doing a 5 minute long song animation that I had the storyboard of since I was a senior in high school. It is my dream to complete it and one I can see myself at the end of my years long protect.
A lot of big inspirations for my art and my style of it comes from my friend Jade but also some online artists like Diamond Pastry, Kekeflipnote and Telepurte. All 3 being animators with unique styles. I'm actually good friends with Diamond Pastry, and I commission them regularly. Here's some commissions that I've payed her to get.

Art journaling as self-management of your mental health
Journaling for personal care alleviates the distress inherent in mental illness as well as the stress of mental illness stigma for health and maintaining a delicate balance between medication, therapy and creating a positive support system. The blessings come from learning passionate self-care and finding expressive outlets for the sometimes overwhelming emotions and triggers. Journaling as a kind of self-care is easy, fun, unique, and most importantly, journaling is good for your mental health.
Journaling as a self-driving car increases your mental health awareness and recovery as it provides a safe place to hold your thoughts and emotions without fear of the reactions of others. It can also help in times when there is something to say but you can't find the words to express it clearly.
Journaling can take many forms: on paper (like a bullet journal), blogging, private digital journals, or with artistic journaling, which combines text, color, and a host of available media for self-expression (try zentangling ).
Journal of Emotion and Gratitude as Self-Care My first exposure to journaling was through a human relations course. The teacher asked us to keep 2 journals throughout the term: an emotions journal and a gratitude journal. The purpose of the Emotions Journal was to provide a safe place to capture intense emotions - anger, sadness, fear, etc. and just write for free. No editing, no self-censorship, curse if you will, but let go. The process allowed me to read the entries, identify negative thought patterns that were holding me back or to identify triggering events.
The Gratitude Journal is a place to write about "What's Right for Me". It takes no effort to find the things that bother us in our lives. The inner journey to find what is going right - even just "I'm here" - requires healing and loving soul-searching. I keep these two logs in a Google document so that they are password protected and are only for me.
Art Journaling for Self-Care and Mental Health Art journaling is another self-care tool that you can take with you in your mental health recovery toolkit. My foray into artistic journaling began 3 years ago when I had consecutive medical crises which each took 18 months to diagnose and resulted in emergency surgeries.
I bought a sketchbook, paints and pens and started splashing my frustration at going through 6 doctors, trying to find the right phone number for the right service and the feeling of betrayal by my body. The magic of art journaling is about tapping into the subconscious and bringing it to light. My 1st piece is called "Can you hear me now?"
Over time, I have learned to let the pages speak for themselves: inspired by color or a mental image, a sentence or a line, the composition is built. Recently I discovered zentangling which is a form of creative meditation in which the creator doesn't care about the final image. My last piece is a reflection of my thoughts on my mother's passing and is titled "Willow Cries For Me".

XD! My Kindle, for some reason, has decided that I am into DILFs.
It’s latest rec for me:
Tumblr media
I love especially that it is a GRUMPY single dad romance.
I really want to know what I bought that made my Kindle think I was into Grumpy DILFs. Like, this kind of thing is pretty much all it recommends to me.
It will stray as far afield as:
Tumblr media
Just a GRUMPY dude romance. (A stand alone with 3 sequels apparently)
But it really is mostly Dads and Husbands.
Understand that the Kindle books I’ve bought over the last few months are:
The Hidden Palace: A Novel of the Golem and the Jinni
Nothing Lasts Forever (The book that inspired the movie Die Hard)
The Martian Inca
The Art of Spiral Drawing: Learn to create spiral art and geometric drawings using pencil, pen, and more
Understanding Chinese Fantasy Genres: A primer for wuxia, xianxia, and xuanhuan
Meander, Spiral, Explode: Design and Pattern in Narrative
Zentangle Primer Vol 1
The 12 Week Year for Writers: A Comprehensive Guide to Getting Your Writing Done
About 25 more books on how to write fiction
How Long 'til Black Future Month?: Stories by N. K. Jemisin
You’d think I would get recommended books on writing. Maybe some Fantasy. Maybe some action or mystery. Maybe even arts and crafts. But, nope. It’s all DILFS all day for me.
My wife is now asking me if there is something I need to tell her XD.

From the desk of
Tumblr media
Update:
I am not that far behind. I am in the process of reviewing and completing work. I am thinking about my project. I’m feeling better. I got up, showered, dressed nicely (no wig, just my soft hat), sorted some laundry, made a commitment to quit smoking.
My pomos are short - 15 minutes.
I have a hard time focusing on tasks so a 15 minute Pomo takes about 30 minutes prep.
Why?
I am reorganizing my work flow, generally forgetful, anxious, headachy, and concussed. It takes me a bit.
Don’t be sad for me!
Using planners and erasable pens seem to be helping!
These photos are taken using an IPhone 10. The passion planner is what I’m using at the moment.
Pomo goal:
Tumblr media
Task List:
Tumblr media
What I know:
Each task will take about four pomos. Typically, reading one article when I’m well will take about ten minutes.
After the big mistake!
(My top to bottom Boo-boo)
It will take maybe two to three times that length.
Thats:
4 pomos * 2 | 4 pomos * 3
1 Pomo = 15 minutes
30 minute break after 4 pomos
So a simple article with a few notes and an insight statement can take me anywhere from three to four hours.
What’s actually happening:
I usually work in half hour blocks. I take an hour break after about a half hour. Sometimes it’s more like two hours. I feel as though I am unfocused and tired very quickly.
I don’t catch most of what I’m reading. My reading comprehension, focus, short term memory, recall, and executive function have been diminished.
I typically aim to work from 11 am till about 5 pm. I also enjoy working from 5 pm to 11 pm with the hopes of live-streaming from 1 am till 4 or 5 am.
I do some Pilates and Yoga Asanas when I get cloudy. I mainly don’t want to do anything but writing is helping. So is moving around. So is listening to music.
What’s next?
I would love to finish today to prepare for the next phase of the program. After initial research the education requirements and costs are simpler for web development. Completing a Bachelors in CS at University of the People is one part of my path as are all the free and low cost resources for Web development and Data Analytics and Science.
What about Human Services?
I work slowly through peer support certification and volunteer on Therapeer and 7 cups. I am am almost finished the DBT skills course through Ursula Whiteside Consulting.
Why aren’t you a singer or musician?
I am! I just don’t make money being a singer, student, writer, or anything other than an intern.
I have performed at BAM, Carnegie Hall, for various events for Politicians and Heads of State. I was in several choirs that frequently performed in the public for pay. As a member we did not receive payment. Albums were recorded, competitions were won, and I moved on to study computer science and chemistry.
Years later, I still sing. I have performed for weddings, baptisms, funerals, and at small bars and cabarets. Not recently. Being a gigging musician takes work, connections, and focus! Like being a writer, you find your own work and create your own oppportunity. I have never had a manager. Nor did I make a portfolio for any of my work! Ha! I have a few keepsakes hidden away.
I have never recorded a demo or made an album. I have sung my heart out for fun on Smule Karaoke. Not a VIP member. It’s on special now for $50/ year.
Wait, aren’t you a visual artist?
I am an ardent doodler, zentangle aspirant, and watercolor affecianado. I enjoy taking art classes and hanging at Fountain House Studio. I enjoy all styles of calligraphy including brush lettering. Fiber craft, photography, pottery, and digital art among other art forms - help me think, relax, and be happy.
What about that Triple Threat thing?
Yes. Sure. Not a professional though (meaning no monies are made). I have been an extra and played small roles in movies that were cut at the final viewing. I consider being an extra or trying to perform for fun in community theaters but you know - rusty.
I thought you were a YouTuber or Instagram Model? Twitch, right?
Kinda. Kinda. I admire your interest.
What about writing?
I am hitting a snag when it comes to my Freelance writing portfolio. This blog is different than the kind of work I want to write.
Professional writing is different in many ways than sharing information on a blog. I want to write blog posts that are SEO friendly, informative and fun. Maybe one day - white papers.
I am also a story teller and poet. I write journal entries (mainly online) and I also complete the “daily pages” writing exercise. I have a relatively short bucket list when it comes my desire to be a successful writer. Being in a writing fellowship and creating a writing fellowship for aspiring writers outside of academic institutions is a goal. More Puerto Rican writers please. Modern stories - not just about jibaros. Thanks.
Leave me a tip!
Pro writer aid? Sure!
Tumblr media
Until next time!
Update:
At 9PM I submitted my Google Class assignments. All I could think was at one time, I would have finished it in a week (at most). But after a few weeks of fighting off brain fog and exhaustion, quitting smoking, exercising more, and planning and reviewing the requirements of not on the internship but of my academic program - I managed to finish this small section.
Expect a longer post detailing trying to review all of the articles I’ve been avoiding. I did manage to review the VCH literature. I want to reread it again to understand how they reached the conclusions they did about the various totals that were tabulated. Based on the available data - they seemed off. Hmm.
Should I ask Kevin? I want to make a pilates routine. My tummy is kind of flabby.

I love how the general consensus on what makes my art style my art style has so far been consistently these:
1. Apparently, the most recognisable thing is the way I draw mouths???
2. All the “curves” in my style go towards the centre of my characters (like the faces), and all the “points” are on the edges (like the hands).
3. L E G S.
4. I tend to do things in black-and-white (mostly through the Zentangle method) the most. Close runner-up was using Washi tape and a dangerous amount of stickers.
5. And you people really like how I line my art??? What??? I thought I was terrible at lining stuff??? This was really surprising...
Also, under the cut for what I personally thought everyone would say:
...I thought everyone would instantly recognise my art style because of the fact that I don’t draw shoulders. I was legitimately and pleasantly surprised that everyone answered “IT’S THE MOUTHS”.
