#i loved to write as a teen but i never wrote in english so i'm very unskilled
Note
I never requested so I don't know if I'm doing it right. But I wanted to request the self aware bsd cast with a shy teen reader with a not so good background. Maybe the reader wants to be writer but gets made fun of for it (bonus points if they look up to poe and oda). I'm not sure if this is the write way to request but feel free to ignore this.
Hello! Hope, you liked it.
Your dream matters
Self-Aware! Platonic! BSD characters x GN! Teen! Shy! Reader
Self-Aware! Platonic! Edgar Allan Poe x GN! Teen! Shy! Reader x Self-Aware! Platonic! Oda Sakunosuke (Slight! Self-Aware! Platonic! Fyodor Dostoevsky x GN! Teen! Shy! Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Description: Set after BSD gang got into your world. You always want to be a writer. But no one supports your dream. But then, Bungou Stray Dogs characters get into your world. Your life is changing. Hopefully, for the better.
Fluff, comfort. Reader are well-read.
Warning: Bullies. Neglectful parents and teachers.
Part two: Reunion
OOC. English is my second language.
Tumblr media
You loved reading all your life. Ever since you were a child, you prefer reading to playing.
You always wanted to be a writer. You wanted to write about people, about magical worlds, about talking animals. Furthermore, you wanted to share your ideas with others.
Because of your love for literature, you have decided to watch Bungou Stray Dogs. You liked all characters.
But, two characters were your favorite. Edgar Allan Poe and Oda Sakunosuke. Writer and person, who wants to be a writer.
You can even say, that look up to them.
Bungou Stray Dogs characters (especially Poe and Oda) soon became your comfort characters.
Because, you have a feeling, that they won't laugh at your dream to become a writer.
______________________
When you were in a kindergarten, you didn't have any friends. Other children always thought, that reading books is boring. They prefer to play outside, run around.
While you were sitting somewhere in the shade, reading another fairy tale.
You wanted to have friends. You want to have someone to talk to. To discuss books.
...
But you have no one. Other kids don't want to talk to you. They called you boring.
Because if that, when you start going to school, you were shy and quiet.
But this time, you had a dream... A dream to become a writer.
Dream, that everyone laughed at.
At first, it was a homework. To write a short fairy tale about animals.
You wrote about kitten, who was friends with butterflies. And how he helped butterflies to arrange a beautiful celebration.
When you read it to your teacher and classmates, they liked it. But then...
"I want to become a writer!"
Silence. Then your classmates started laughing.
"You will never do it!"
"Writing is not a job!"
"Soon no one will read books!"
And the teacher didn't do anything to calm your classmates down.
You weren't that naive. You understand, that your fairy tale wasn't The best story in the world. But... You were still a child. You are allowed to dream.
You hoped, that your classmates won't laugh at your dream again. Or, at least, you will have someone, that will support you.
...You are in a middle school now. In a year, you will start high school...
Classmates still laughing at you.
"Hey, Super Star of Modern Literature, how many people bought your books today?"
"[Y/N], can we have your autograph? I will show it to my grandchildren. Will tell them that I knew The Great Author when they were a pathetic nobody."
"Why are you still laughing at me? I didn't do anything wrong."
At first, you tried to ask teacher for help. But they ignored you.
"[Y/N], been a writer is a silly, childish dream."
"You won't write anything good. You will never be as good, as real writers "
"But I want to try... What if someone will like my writing?"
At the end you were too shy, too ashamed to ask for help again.
You hoped, that your parents will support your dream.
"[Y/N]! Writing is not a job! You must become a valuable member of society!"
"All writers are lazy alcoholics! Stop wasting your time!"
"But you are drinking without been a writer. You two are stuck in dead-end jobs. You hate working. You don't have hobbies... Why you don't want me to have something that makes me happy? Why you lash out on me instead of going to the gym to do boxing?"
"I... I know, that writing is a lottery, but... I just want to write something... I only want to tell a story"
...
"Please... I just want someone to support me... Just one person"
But at the end, no one supports you. But deep down, you still dream about becoming a writer.
But you never spoke about your dream again.
And then, one day, you saw a picture of Edgar Allan Poe from Bungou Stray Dogs.
After spending some time on learning more about BSD, you decide to watch it.
Then you read the manga.
And install the game.
______________
In the middle of June, characters from the BSD franchise appeared in your room.
____________________
You still weren't sure, how Fitzgerald managed to get this house. You still don't know, how they manage to get a custody over you.
The only thing is clear. You are now living with your comfort characters.
You start changing. At first, you were too shy to spend time with them. Especially with Oda and Poe. But, after something happened, you became more open towards your new family.
You became closer to them, thanks to Fyodor Dostoevsky.
_______________
You walk inside your home library and plopped down on the chair. You groaned and cover your face with both hands.
"Hard day?" you hear someone's voice. You nodded. You hear, that someone move a chair closer to you and sit near. That mysterious someone put a hand on your shoulder. "Want to talk about it?"
You were annoyed. So annoyed, that you decide to vent.
"Today, I had a school literature club meeting. We were discussing our favorite book characters. We could name anyone we want, doesn't matter, who is the author."
You take a breath.
"So I talked about Rodion Raskolnikov from Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment""
It was silent for a moment. Then mysterious someone asked again.
"I guess, teacher doesn't like your answer?"
You nodded again. If you weren't that annoyed, you would notice, that your listener had well known among BSD fans Russian accent.
"Yes. They told me, that Raskolnikov is a terrible person and can't be anyone's favorite. I... I never said that I like what he was doing, but he is more complicated character, that teachers told us about. Moreover, they are doing Dostoevsky dirty, while teaching about him in high school... Oh."
You finally looked at the person, you were talking to.
Right beside you was sitting Fyodor Dostoevsky. His hand was still on your shoulder. The man himself was smiling. He looked both amused and worried.
You want to disappear. You were embarrassed, that Fyodor heard your rant about his real world counterpart.
Fyodor asked you another question.
"Did the teacher let you explain your choice?"
You shook your head, still embarrassed. Fyodor laughs.
"Then why won't you explain it to me?"
You looked at Dostoevsky with a mixture of disbelief and embarrassment.
"I am serious. I want to hear, what's your reasons behind liking Raskolnikov."
Fyodor squeezed your shoulder. You gulp and star talking.
"Well, first, let me tell you what author himself write about Rodion..."
At the end, you and Fyodor had a full on discussion about book characters. Others joined you two.
Starting that day, you slowly, but surely became closer to your new friends. You even confess, that Poe and Oda were your favorite characters.
__________________
You still didn't tell others about your dream. But now, you nave a real notebook to write your ideas in.
Your life changed.
You lived in a new home. With a new family.
But you still were going in the old school.
____________
Mori parked the car not far away from school. He turns towards you and smiles.
"We are here, Little Light. Be careful at school."
"I will, Uncle Ougai, don't worry. See you and other after school"
After getting a hug from Elise and a head pat from Mori (with a quiet "You can call me father, you know?"), you left the car and walked towards the school building.
You hope, that today is going to be good.
____________
This day was terrible.
When you were walking in school halls, someone ran into you. You fall, and your schoolbag was opened. Your notebooks were on the floor. You quickly pick everything up and hurry to the next class.
You didn't notice, that your notebook with writing Ideas were stolen.
After the lunch, you got a notification.
Someone posted photos of your notebook pages on the school site.
And a video. A video of bullies, mockingly reading your notebook. Tearing it apart. Destroying pages.
And comments under the post...
"The Weirdo are still writing?"
"LOL, cringe fanfics!"
"Hey, maybe they have another notebook, where they write porn stories?"
"Will you calm the [CENSORED] down! Stop flaunt your stupid dream before our eyes!"
"Your notebook is only good to be used as toilet paper!"
After school, you hurry home.
____________________
You slam the door behind you. Not paying attention to anyone, you hurry to your room and close the door. Soon everyone heard the muffled cries.
Everyone was quiet for a moment. Chuuya was first one, who spoke.
"Who? Who dared to hurt our [Y/N]?! Who made them cry?"
"I know the answer" Katai, who checked your school site, showed everyone post with your notebook.
Fyodor stood up. His voice was cold.
"I will deal with this little bastards. Kolya, Chuuya, Dazai, you are going with me. Oda, Poe, can you, please, check on [Y/N]? They like you two."
Without other words, Fyodor walked towards the front door. Gogol,
Chuuya and Dazai followed him.
_____________
You heard someone knocking on your door.
"[Y/N]? It's us, Oda and Poe. Can we come in?"
You manage to sob a "yes" and bury your face in a pillow.
The door was opened. Oda and Poe slowly approach your bed. Oda kneel before your bed, while Poe sits on the bed edge.
Oda spoke first.
"We saw the video. Are you okay? The Bullies... They didn't hurt you to take away the notebook, right?"
You sob more and shake your head.
"No... They stole it... Is it wrong for me to dream? Is it wrong for me to want to be a writer?"
Poe put his hand on your back, softly petting it.
"It's not, [Y/N]. Your dream matters. Your dream can become true. I will help you."
Oda spoke again. "And I will also help you."
You look at them in disbelief. Did they just? The characters you always looked up to support you?
Poe answers your silent question.
"I can teach you, how to write. We will do writing exercises, we will discuss your writing, I will give you a critique. I will support you on your way to becoming a writer."
Oda rub away your tears.
"Don't listen to the others, [Y/N], you can become a writer. We will work on it together."
You cried again. This time, out of happiness. You jumped up and hugged both Poe and Oda at the same time. They hug you in return.
"Thanks you so much"
Finally, you have someone, who supports you and your dream.
_____________
🐾 Everyone from the BSD gang will support you.
🐾 Poe is mentoring you. He is a good teacher. He points out what you are doing good and what you are doing bad.
🐾 Oda and Poe will help you publish your first book. Just a little storybook.
🐾 You got good reviews and it was quite popular. You got some money from it.
🐾 You buy presents for everyone. Oda, Poe and Fyodor got a three different "Best Dad in The World" cups from you. Mori was devastated. Now he tries even harder to make sure you see him as a father figure.
🐾 On the side note, now you are being homeschooled.
🐾 The Bullies (seven people), who created a post, were found stuffed in one trashcan. It takes half a day to get them out of it.
🐾 Person, who write a comment about toilet paper, was stuffed in the school toilet.
🐾 Teachers were also scared. Rumors said, that someone attack them and teach them a lesson on "How to be a good teacher".
🐾 Slowly, you are becoming more and more confident. Now you are sure, that you can be a writer. All thanks to your new family.
_____
A/N : The bit about Raskolnikov happened in real life with me. When my literature teacher started asking us about our favourite characters from classic literature, I said, that I loved Raskolnikov. I had a feeling, if my teacher could, she would expell me for this words.

Fanfic Writer Questions
@askweisswolf tagged me, thank youuuuu for thinking of me ♡
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Huh, 12 apparently? A lot of them are shorts and gifts, though.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
66,495???? When did THAT happen (I have never opened the statistics tab before can you tell)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly and forever Fallen Hero my beloved, but I have one (1) foray into Baldur's Gate 3.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Hmmm, my "main" fics really: 1. Splinters (Fallen Hero, Una and Ortega's relationship's turning points) 2. Dialogue Box (Fallen Hero, people having conversations) 3. Hopefully, No Biting (I can't believe this is in the top three JKLHGLKHGLH. Probably the oral sex helped.) 4. Hauntings (Fallen Hero, little mindfucks and experimental chapters) 5. The Heist, a three-part gift about Hollow Ground and @kittlesandbugs Sidestep, Riley. This one was a passion project, very happy to find it (surprisingly) in the top 5.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Usually, yes, if I can't reply directly to the commenter on another platform! If people are lovely enough to take the time to write, you know... Right back at them.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
No endings to my fics, really, but the angstiest as a rule is Hauntings.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
No endings to my fics, really, but I think my happiest / sweetest / peacefullest might be one of my recent ones--Shipname: Burnt to the Ground (it's sex, but not sad babygirl sex, you get me?)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No.......... But if you want to go and hate on Hollow Ground when they appear in my fic please be my guest lads I'm right there with you.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not sure my sex scenes count as smut considering I'm firmly rooted in the suggestive rather than explicit territory. I write metaphors for fucking, more like.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not really! I'm such a one-trick pony man, all my money's on Los Diablos.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Hmmm.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have not! I do like to fuck around with language and I have translated part of my fics once or twice and then back again just to throw a punch into the English and its pacing though. And I used to translate fics out loud for my friends who couldn't read English when I was, like, a teen.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Started to, didn't finish, but the idea's there somewhere—co-writing with @astarien is the heights of existence obviously.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
... Chargestep. I guess. I guess they're alright. Whatever.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
If I want to finish a work I do—but there's nothing I'm gunning to end yet, except for shorts, which I finish in one-go.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Hm, I don't really know... I enjoy dialogue, action scenes, and fucking up pace, musicality, analogy, words and format so that language says more than it usually does, or shows more than it usually does—goes further than it wants to go if you don't give it a shake—and makes you FEEL. That's what's in my brain when I write.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Fucking... plot. Logical pathways. Lore. I do not have a brain.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Love it! I gesture at it but keep it in English when I don't know the language (too scared of fucking it up, and not enough control over tone / nuances / connotations), but if I do know the language then absolutely.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
In my little notebooks when I was 8? A French Child Fantasy book I loved. But the only fandom I've written seriously for is FHR.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
My darling, though not my easiest, is Splinters. The hard-hitting writing moments are compiled there, I usually break out of a chapter a little brain-weird and all rabbit-hearted, it's always a blast to get to work on it.
Annnnd I'll tag @astarien, @kittlesandbugs, @ejunkiet, @impossible-rat-babies, @rab-bitly, @witchfall, @silvery-bluish, @ladyshivs, and anyone who feels like it!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
tagged by @eusuntgratie 😘
How many works do you have on ao3? 24
What's your total ao3 word count? 195,342
What fandoms do you write for? primarily men's hockey rpf and queer as folk, but I've also written for teen wolf, 911, and cmbyn.
Top five fics by kudos: Catalepsis (britin, qaf) Sick Day (buddie, 911) Open Your Fucking Eyes, Justin (britin, qaf) A Knight in Shining... Clubwear? (britin, qaf) The Great Poxing of 2013 (sterek, teen wolf) okay this is making me sad for my hockey fic 🥲
Do you respond to comments? always! but I don't get many, comparatively, and i produce like two one-shots a year, so it's not hard 😂
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? probably Confrontation (britin, qaf). It's a short, dialogue-only fic of an argument, and there's no resolution.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? oof I don't know, I tend to write happy endings, so there's a lot of choose from. I have a couple tknp fics that are about them getting together, which always makes for a happy ending, but I'll go with Wildflour (tknp, men's hockey rpf) because it ends mid-hookup, and that's always fun.
Do you get hate on fics? not yet 🙏
Do you write smut? yes! it's not my strong suit and it always takes me forfuckingever to write, but it's in there.
Craziest crossover: I haven't done any. Although a friend and I have (briefly) discussed the possibility of a tknp/firefly crossover, which I think would be amazing if I could wrap my head around the scope of it.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that i know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated? nope, but that would be so cool.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? nope. writing is a very *very* casual hobby for me, and I know that it would stress me out to feel like I constantly had to keep with a deadline and/or that i was letting my co-author down.
All time favorite ship? christ, sophie's choice much? Even though it's not the fandom I'm currently writing and reading the most right now, I've got to say britin from qaf. They're so formative for me, and I always come back to them. They're like, the foundational sunshine/grump ship in my world. With tknp a close close second. Currently I'm mostly reading firstprince.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? i'm not really a wip person, I only have the brainpower to have one fic in my head at a time, so i tend to write, finish, post before i start something else (no matter how long it takes goddammit). but I do have some slightly more fleshed out qaf ideas that I may or may not come back to... but since most of them are pretty similar (something bad happens to justin, brian helps him out), I definitely won't write them all. I also have some ideas for fandoms i'll probably never write for again, but then again, never say never.
What are your writing strengths? dialogue. I like writing it probably more than any other part of my fics, and I feel like I'm good at it. Humor, which surprised me when I started writing because I started in the qaf fandom and almost all of my fics there skewed angsty, but I love adding humor in when the situation calls for it and I feel like I can be funny? I hope? 😂
What are your writing weaknesses? oh smut for sure. it takes me FOREVER to write it because I just... I don't know, get bored? I think I just find writing action sequences difficult generally, and what is smut if not action. Also world-building, which is why I tend to stick to very canon or canon-adjacent writing.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language? sure, if it fits the character and situation. I haven't had reason to do it, but I could throw some basic Spanish in or like, single words in other languages, but I'd hate not getting it right so that would hold me back. I do find it annoying as a reader when there's a lot of foreign language dialogue in an english language fic and there's no translation.
First fandom you wrote in? first ever was technically buffy back when I was 14, but that was me writing it with the intent to change the names and pass it off as original fiction for my freshman english class. And I got an A! The first straight-up fic I wrote was for one tree hill. First fandom i was *involved* in and wrote for was qaf.
Favorite fic you've written? oh god why. I can narrow it down to two IF I MUST. First, Catalepsis (britin, qaf), it's my only true multi-chapter fic and at 82k it's my longest fic by like 70k. It took me literal years to finish, I'm super proud of it, and even though it's long I've had multiple comments about people rereading, which is always amazing. And The Great Poxing of 2013 (sterek, teen wolf). I just love it, it's funny and sweet and flirty and the only teen wolf fic I've written. It wasn't planned, I had a flash of inspiration and banged it out in two nights in front of the tv.
tagging @bigassbowlingballhead @madsworld15 @winderlylandchime and anybody else who wants to do it! (sorry if you guys already did it and I missed it, this week's been crazy) 💚

Fic tag game
got tagged by @fangeek-girl ❤️❤️
How many works do you have on Ao3?
I have 7 works but 3 of them are fanfic lol
2. What's your Ao3 word count?
1896 words total. Your girl is definitely one for brevity LOL
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Wednesday, that one drabble I made for The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, and I've been writing for Star Wars (though I haven't posted anything yet) and Mrs maisel (i wrote a whole short fic for that almost a year ago but I forgot about it completely until I found it in my notes apps, I should get around to posting it)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I don't have 5 fics total but here's my current count in order:
1-Lies
2-The world's a little blurry
3-Pretend
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes always! the fact that people are READING my stuff and taking time to comment has me 🥺🥺🥺
My writing ao3 isnt linked to my main email adress though so sometimes it takes me a while to respond because I wont see it until I periodically check my fic stats
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
.....Probably The world's a little blurry let's be real (I'm going to fix it it in the next one in the series, I promise!!!)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
akdadhjgsjgd hard to say all my shit is angsty, I guess Pretend?? kind of, it's less of a downer than the other ones. The final part of Come a little closer will have a happy ending though I promise! (already finished writing the end, I just need to write the beginning lol)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No ❤️ I don't think any of my stuff has gotten enough attention for that lol
9. Do you write smut? What kind?
NO my ace ass has no experience with that so I wouldn't know how 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️(I might need to in some future project, fortunately a lot of my friends are perverts (affectionate) so I could probably ask for some guidance if it comes to that LOL)
10. Do you write cross-overs?
No, I'm not a big fans of crossovers in general so certainly have never felt compelled to write one.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No
13. What WIP you would like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
So many ugh I cant even choose, it's more rare for me to actually finish something than the opposite, that's why I'll never post anything unless the whole thing is finished (only exception is my current series, but that's because I felt like each fic making up the series were self-contained enough that they didn't need to follow up immediatly to work? if that makes sense - plus the first one was a one shot and only thought of how to follow it up after posting it)
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
ANIDALA MY BELOVED
15. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm really good at imagery and emotion (being a poetry writer goes brrrrr)
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
DESCRIPTIONS oh god I'm so bad at it. My fic are vibes only lmao, what are they wearing? where are they? what movements are they doing? NOT IMPORTANT how about I offer you 12 metaphors on how this character is feeling instead. (though I'm forcing myself to work on it haha)
I also struggle with any longer story arc... there's a reason all my stuff is so short lol
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it's in french it would be pretty fun since it's my ✨first language✨ hehe. For other languages I'd see if one of my friends speak it but otherwise idk if I'd include it bc I don't want to butcher another language, I've seen too many english authors put french through the ringer it's painful 😭
18. First fandom you wrote for?
I guess Julie and the Phantoms? I never posted it but I had a pretty advanced fic for that. unless you count the 13 reasons why fic I posted on wattpas when i was early teen but we dont talk about that
19. Favourite fic you've ever written?
right now it has to be The world's a little blurry, I just love how it came out hehe
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
none right now.
Anyway tagging @nonamemanga @beri-allen @unlifeira @realmermaid333 @suchaladyy @witchysith @king-crimson-works @theycallme-thejackal and anyone else who might want to do it!

Writer Tag
Thanks for the tag @venus-haze <3
How many works do you have on AO3? 29
What's your total AO3 word count? 230k
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Tender Threads
Satisfy Me
One Big Wet Spot
Say Please
The Hand That Feeds
(All Homelander fics) ^
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Most of the time, but lately I haven't had the energy or the time. My social battery is pretty fucked, but I do read every single one of them and love them
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? So it's technically unpublished, but it basically ends with Ben (my oc) sentencing himself to die pretty painfully alongside Homelander with that thing that got revealed in Gen V. If you know you know
What’s the fic you've written with the happiest ending? Honestly, Envy.
Do you write crossovers? I've done an AU crossover for the same fandom, but not really
Have you ever received hate on a fic? Most of the hate I get is in my tumblr inbox. I haven't really done/said anything about it bc no one really wants to see or hear about it tbh, but I've gotten a fair amount of shit for pairing homie with a guy and then also more for pairing him with a trans guy. I think the only ao3 hate i ever got was barely even hate, more like someone bitching that my tender threads formatting wasn't to their liking bc it's Y/n formatted
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yessir yessir. Honestly just whatever i'm vibin with
Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that i'm aware although i don't think i've written anything steal-worthy
Have you ever had a fic translated? no, but @anon-nee has been my personal jesus christ in helping me make sure my english to german translations in tender threads has been accurate. love you nonnums <3
Have you ever co-written a fic before? technically no, but @homelanderbutbig did a collab with me and made this to pair with a fic i wrote, which i feel like is co-creation so i'm gonna say yes anyway. love you HBB <3
What's your all-time favorite ship? honestly i don't really have one, unless i can count my ocxcanon ship in which case it's benlander
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? i have a depowered homelander fic where ben answers the door one day and ryan, now in his late teens, is there to finally see homie again after all those years went by. i adore the concept but i'm like NEVER in the mindset i need to actually write something like that
What are your writing strengths? yall got strengths?
What are your writing weaknesses? all of them
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? i think it's fine so long as there's clarification shortly after for the readers who may not understand, and also that you've somehow gotten it cross checked by someone who actually speaks the langauge so ensure you're not just saying some wild shit. but ultimately do whatever makes you happy idk bro i don't make the rules
What was the first fandom you wrote for? Prometheus! i was am down so bad for david omg
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? astarion/tav. i wanna write something sooooo bad but i just can't get in the headspace for it
What's your favorite fic you've written? probably satisfy me because the role swap was incredibly fun and it's REALLY fucking cool to unbind homelander from his own behavioral patterns and manifest them into a reader's concept. like, of everything i've written, i could most clearly imagine everything that happened in that fic and i'd find myself grinning like a sick fuck while writing about literally eviscerating a man's chest cavity lmao
No pressure tags: @blindmagdalena @hom3landr @irenadel @slasher-smasher and anyone else who wants to participate

Ao3 WIP Tag Game!
I was tagged by @nonamemanga a while ago but I didn't have time to do this until now! Thank you for thinking of me!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? Thirty Eight! (37 on my account and 1 that is currently anonymous!)
2. What's your AO3 word count? 170,914 (oooh!)
3. What fandoms do you write for? Netflix's Wednesday (2022), DC Comics (Mostly Batman), Danny Phantom. Other fandoms I have written for but I wouldn't consider myself as currently writing for are; Disney's Descendants first film, Teen Wolf, Fantastic Beasts and where to find them the first film and Netflix's The Witcher. If we're counting my long-abandoned fanfiction account I have also written Dr Who fic, I think maybe a Sherlock one and Without a Trace (2002-2009)
4. What are your Top 5 Fics by Kudos?
In ascending order:
5) Hang On, I Still Need You (Descendants)
4) The Captivating Case of Percy’s Imaginary Date (Fantastic Beasts)
3) Bad Boys, not Bad News (Teen Wolf)
2) Espy Me, While I Watch You (Teen Wolf)
1) a language they cannot understand (Teen Wolf)
5. Do you respond to comments? If I can think of something to say! I can't always though unfortunately.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I generally write the most unrepentant fluff so I think Once Bitten, Never Shy? But I still wouldn't classify that as angst.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Again, most of them are pretty happy! I'm not going to reread 38 fics to check but the overall fluffiest, happiest AU I've written that comes to mind is The Only Garden My Heart Will Ever Grow In.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I don't think I've gotten hate in my comments but I did get an unkind comment on Tumblr fairly recently saying I needed to get a lot more feedback before publishing (I do have betas) - amongst other less friendly suggestions.
9. Do you write smut? No sorry. When reading fics I'll be like "Hmm this unsafe-kink, publicly-set, PWP is a little too vanilla." But when writing I'm like, "They kiss...with the tongue....I guess."
10. Do you write cross-overs? Yep! A bunch! I haven't always loved crossovers but over the last few years I've really come to enjoy them. On my account is a few DC x DP fics (Danny Phantom and DC Comics) and one, very poorly written Batman and The Witcher I never want to think about again.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? Niet.
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Yes! Not all of them are published and I don't think I currently have a cowritten fic on my ao3 account but yes, as a process. I enjoy it but also find it challenging to blend writing approaches and deal with time zones.
13. What is a WIP you would like to finish but doubt you ever will? All my fics are completed. However I just begun a new AU (Wyler) that's VERY ambitious so we'll see how that goes.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Malec. Have I ever written a Malec fic? No. Will I? Probably not. The fandom is low key intimidating. But in my heart I have so many AUs.
15. What are you writing strengths? I think my comedy and worldbuilding?? Maybe? I'd feel more confident if a reader of mine weighed in on this.
16. What are your writing weaknesses? Length. It took me almost the whole year to get to the end of A Standing Reservation in the Eye of the Storm. I'll never be one of those people who can smash out 30k in a few days.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'm not 1000% sure what this question refers to. I think it's important to check that any real-world language is written correctly. But with real-world languages AND conlangs, ensuring readability is so important. My preference is probably the sentence in English with the dialogue tags something like "he said in flawless Mando'a" but an immediate translation in parentheses at the end of the paragraph (hover text is good but doesn't work on mobile) is decent OR have the in-text reply make the dialogue fully evident:
"3456 234567 2345?"
"Oh, I love this song too, I'd love to dance with you!"
Encoded footnotes are alright, and my detested option is full separated out glossaries that give the meaning of each word used for me to string into correct order for each sentence. A headache.
18. First fandom you wrote for? Can't be sure...I think I was involved in a Five Find-Outers and Dog fanfic (not that I used that word) as a child that never made it near a computer, let alone the internet.
19. Favourite fic you’ve ever written? OH easily A million years ago, last night & at the end of all things (also known as AMYAL). The words flowed and I loved every moment. However, I did also love writing Espy Me, While I Watch You back in 2017. I wish the third story in the AMYAL verse came 1/3rd as easy.
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day? None! Often after a fic is fully published I never think about it aga...That's all a total lie and I feel sad DAILY over the complete hash I made of Pry This Home From My Cold, Dead Mountain because I loved my au so much and I failed to show anyone why. It was just NOT good.

20 questions for fic writers!
Thank you for tagging me @thotpuppy! I'm reading everybody's answers, it's so fun!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
46. Though only 14 of them in English.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
582,115 holy shit
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Teen Wolf. I've translated for Sherlock before, though.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. The Happiest of All (Sterek, Explicit, 32,5k, ER, Angst, Miscommunication, Stiles runs away from Derek thinking it's for the best. He's wrong) 2. Untouchable (Sterek, Explicit, 17,1k, ABO, Univesity!AU, Courting, Stiles is the new hot omega, bad boy!Derek is the only one allowed to get close) 3. Safe (Sterek, Not Rated, 974, ER, TW Movie Fix-it.) 4. Wait For Me (Sterek, Mature, 64,6k, Spark!Stiles, Cursed sterek, very soft and desperate, forever love) 5. Treasure (Sterek, Explicit, 71,2k, Historical AU, Courting, Heavy Angst, Derek saves Stiles and baby Eli from gold-digging suitors in the most feral and tender way possible)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I answer each and every one, except for emojis. I also stopped responding to comments on Safe because it exploded so quickly and there was an avalanche of comments and I got anxious and I'm still overwhelmed SORRY
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I cannot decide between Wait For Me and Treasure. In both Stiles loses people, willingly or not, and it's devastating that this is something he will have to live with. But both have happy endings, don't worry.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Lmao, it's pwp Devoured (Sterek, Explicit, 5,2k, Sex God!Derek, Human Sacrifice!Stiles). I mean, Stiles is getting fucked by Derek in front of the dozens of deities, and everyone is jealous of them.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, people have been very nice to me. Some people don't like how soft my Stiles is but it's whatever. However, I anticipate the hate from a certain character defense squad for the fic that's coming out in November. I hope they'll never find it.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yep. It's porn with feelings. And they MUST hold hands. Stiles moans and whimpers and Derek has a filthy mouth. Both are feral sluts for each other. Also monsterfucking. It's Derek Hale's fault, don't look at me, look at his tiddies
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, and, please, don't start
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. Though, I, myself, translated a lot of fics. It's a unique and wonderful experience. I don't think authors realize how deep into their heads we crawl, how we dissect every paragraph, every sentence, how much we immerse ourselves to convey what the author was trying to say. Some fics I banged my head over, they were so hard to translate. Others were so easy and wonderful, it was a joy to work with them. Yes, the last one was Waiting by isthatbloodonhisshirt. I fucking loved working on it so much.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, and I don't see myself doing so.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
STEREK
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Listen. Mutual pining!Sterek, established!Cordia. In order to save the pack from the Monster of the Week, Stiles and Lydia have to work together to defeat it, and they cannot tell anybody what they're doing bc the pack will die if they do. Naturally, the cheating rumors start. Cora is furious, Derek is devastated. Stiles and Lydia see how much it hurts their loved ones, but they would rather have them heartbroken than dead. Only when Stiles kisses Derek goodbye before going to die for his pack, do they realize that something's amiss. It's so angsty and so epic and I've had this idea for over a year.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Purple prose. Conveying emotions. ANGST. I will make it my life mission to make my readers cry.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Action scenes (including smut because sex is an action scene). Sentences have to be quick, short, with lots of verbs and not a lot of time for emotions. I am not made for that! I try, though, I'm learning, HOLD ON. I also take a long time preparing for super emotional scenes, I just sit there and stare at the monitor and breathe anxiously.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Not a full dialogue, but small words like endearments HELL YES! I had an absolute blast with Treasure, having Stiles call Eli cute pet names in Polish. I feel somewhat comfortable with including Polish, bc my native language has the same/similar roots (?), so I understand when the Google Translate is spewing bullshit at me. I'd love Derek to speak more Spanish, but I know that GT is shit, so I have to stay away. Believe me, I know what it's like to read something in your native language and cringe bc of how wrong it is.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Sigh. Sherlock. I translated a fic and it ended up being an overnight hit and it's still the most popular Johnlock fic I've ever translated. The first fic I wrote myself was for Teen Wolf, Sterek. I would probably die from cringe if I looked at it now.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Treasure MY BABY MY LOVE MY FAVORITE CHILD ugh I'm so proud of it, of Stiles, of Eli and Derek in it. It's incredibly raw. I'm also currently writing a fic that's going to come very close to being my favourite. Maybe, even surpass Treasure. But now, I can say with all my heart that Treasure is my best work. Second is The Happiest of All.
This has been insightful and fun. Not tagging anyone, feeling shy, if you want you can steal the questions (hidden below)

not to get sentimental about humanity or whatever but actually yeah there is good out there guys. i promise you i promise you there is so much good. look here is my list:
when i was a really little kid i cried after losing a carnival game (obviously i was 4 so i sucked at it) and the pre-teen age boy who won gave me his prize. i'm pretty sure i still have it somewhere 15+ years later.
one time i was crying on the train and the woman across from me gave me a snack from her bag; i tried to wish her a good day as she got off at her stop and was worried she didn't hear me, but the woman next to me reassured me she had without me ever asking.
when i had a meltdown at the hozier concert because my $40 t-shirt was stolen, someone behind me who was about my age gave me a fidget toy, and when i tried to return it they told me i could keep it (i still use it often, it's one of my favorites).
at the same concert, during the same meltdown when i was in the bathroom, the woman in the stall next to me asked me if i was okay and told me that things like that had happened to her, but that i still got to be there and (in her words) "see the guy" and it made things a little easier for me (i only ever saw her heels and her fingernails, but i later found out she was my dad's coworker, and she told him she was glad im doing better now).
in my freshman year of high school, i complimented a guy's overwatch shirt and we talked about it for a while before class started; years later he told me that it was the nicest anyone had ever been to him up until that point and that he still appreciated it—which shocked me, because he ended up being one of the most popular kids at school and is still good friends with a lot of my friend group.
when i was talking to my asl professor about why i was out of class for a few days (i was in the hospital for a few days following a suicide attempt) she hugged me and told me i was beautiful, and i still think about that professor nearly every day, and how she would always tell us about how much she loved her wife and their life together.
not long after that, my english professor reached out and wished me a happy thanksgiving because she knew i had been having a rough semester, even though she didn't have to and probably didn't do that for any other students (as far as i know).
when i was sorting through old papers i found years of hand drawn and painted birthday cards from one of my best friends, who made me one every year, and it made me realize how long they had been there for me during my worst.
i always start to feel dread when i leave for school, but one day, a girl accidentally got off the elevator on my floor, and then i proceeded to get off on a different wrong floor, and we both ended up in the same elevator and laughed about how we both made the same mistake, and wished each other a good day. it made my walk to the bus stop a bit easier.
at a writing conference, as part of a writing exercise, a woman told me a story about how she left her shitty ex boyfriend and had been single since, and i told her about how much i loved media analysis and symbolism; i wrote her a poem and she drew me a drawing. we never spoke again, but for a few minutes, it felt like we were old friends.
one of the bartenders at my old job loved our coconut macaroons, so i would save one for him so he could have it with his coffee. it was such a simple exchange, but it made me feel warm every time.
at that same job, i worked on my birthday, and once we were closed i asked the kitchen for any leftovers they had. they ended up making me an entire appetizer and singing happy birthday to me.
one time in the coffee stand drive thru, the guy taking my order got excited when he saw the pokemon on my dashboard, and pointed to his car across the parking lot with a gyrados in it. he then pulled a bracelet out of his pocket that said "cute" and said i could have it because of all my cute pokemon. later, i went again while wearing it and saw him, and his coworker said that he just loves making bracelets for people.
for whatever reason, a claw machine at a mall nearby had fraggle rock plushes inside; my friend and i spent forever trying to get some, but couldn't, and we both struggled to find good listings online. when i finally got my friend a mokey plush for christmas, they tackled me in a hug, and it's now one of my happiest memories (they then insisted on paying for my boober plush later on, so now we match).
and i am certain there are many many more instances i am forgetting. and i know things are fucking bleak now and always. and i know it's hard to see. but there is so much good. there is so much love. even from strangers. please believe me. life can be so full of love.

Hi Samantha! I really love your work. So, I loved to read as a child, but stopped when I got to middle school just due to falling out of it, I guess. No other real reason. I rediscovered my passion for it when I was about 18 and entering college. I ended up falling so in love with it I changed my major to English after a year, and picked up some creative writing courses as well. I’ve never tried to write a book, or even a story, really. But it’s something I desperately want to try, it’s a dream. I also have a little job working with books and I love the insight I’m getting into the publishing world. I guess I’m just really nervous about the idea of starting, because I feel like I’ve missed the chance. I’m 21, and I feel like I’m too old to start now. I feel like so many authors have been writing since they were very young, working on the same book for many many years, and that authoring a book has to be a journey you got a start on early in life. It makes me sad, but I haven’t even attempted anything, just letting my ideas fester in my brain because it just feels like there’s no point now. Sorry to rant! But I’m just wondering, what are your thoughts on the author journey? I know not all author journeys are the same and I don’t always see them being shared. Have you ever felt like you missed a chance with something in the book writing world?
It makes me so sad that you feel you're too old to start writing when you're only 21. I really hope this doesn't sound patronising, as I know I'm only nine years ahead of you, but 21 is so young. You have so much time ahead of you.
I do feel this is partly the fault of the publishing industry, which often heaps an unusual amount of praise and attention on young authors. I know that firsthand, because I was one of them. Even at the time, I was worried about other writers potentially having thoughts like these when they saw my story, and those of other authors who got their deals in their teens or early twenties.
I started writing as a serious hobby at the age of 12, but if you make time for a bit of writing every day – or even most days – until you're 28, you'll have built exactly the same amount of experience that I had when I wrote my debut, The Bone Season, at 19. Every time you write, even if it's just for an hour or less, you gain a little more experience and skill. It is never too late to start. Please don't let yourself believe you've missed your chance to get your ideas out there. Leigh Bardugo was 35 when she wrote Shadow and Bone. Sally Green, author of Half Bad, started writing when she was about 49. There are many, many examples of authors who started ‘late’ and have very successful careers.

ok. hi!
i feel like i have to be transparent about the reasons i haven't been writing as much lately, especially now that i have answers.
in late 2023, i wrote sporadically because i was struggling with my physical health in ways i wasn't really aware of. i'm very happy to report that my reasons this month have nothing to do with that.
as some of you beyond my circle of friends might know, this year was the last of my phd program. i defend my dissertation in a week and a half, which is wild. but since the school year began, i've been applying for all kinds of academic jobs. i applied for some within my field and some outside of it (i.e. english composition, something i have lots of experience in but don't always love!). in early february, i found the perfect job posting in my field, one day after interviewing for another decently fitting job. never one to count myself out, i applied for it and got an interview about four weeks later.
after one conversation with some of the faculty, i knew in my bones that this was the place i wanted to be, and i hoped they felt the same way. it was a strong feeling -- one i haven't really had about other jobs and schools in the same way. it gave me the same feeling as my undergraduate institution, and if you know me, you know how much i loved my undergraduate institution/how much i've wanted to work at a school just like it. i always said, "i would go back there and teach if i could." and even though i couldn't go back home, this school felt like a similar answer to what i wanted.
yesterday, after visiting the campus, meeting the faculty and some students, and teaching an example lesson about my passions, they offered me the position. this morning, i accepted.
i am so incredibly grateful that i get to live my dream. and i get to do it at a school where everyone is in love with what they do, from faculty to students. there is nothing better than loving your job and learning how to be really good at it, and that's where i get to be. there were a few minutes there, early in the school year, where i was so panicked that i wouldn't be able to teach, that it would all stop when i defended. but it won't. i don't have to be heartsick thinking i'll never talk to students about pasquale and giuseppe's horse in shoeshine again; that i'll never get to give my spiel about the "R" rating keeping teens from seeing the movies that will most speak to their struggles. because i get to do that and so much MORE! and hopefully for a very long time!
so, this is why i haven't been writing. because i've been doing that thing that lucy did, just off the page, just in the margins where you couldn't see. i don't plan on stopping -- never! it's just that things might get a little slower as i venture into the next (ultra exciting) phase of my career.
and now i can write more accurately about lucy's own job search process!

20 Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ ꜰᴏʀ ꜰɪᴄ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇʀꜱ
Thanks for the tag @mycupofrum !!!
Ao3 Username: graceless_lady
1. How many works do you have on A03?
21 fics.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
353k
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Harry Potter
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
the ghost of you, it keeps me awake (Sirius/James, M, 73k, WIP)
and a love that I dreamt of came to me at my worst (Sirius/James, E, 90k, complete)
In Plain Sight (Sirius/James, E, 30k, complete)
The Wedding Date (Sirius/James, M, 25k, complete)
you'll see me in hindsight (Sirius/James, E, 35k, complete)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! Sometimes it takes me a while to carve out time to give a proper response (esp if pesky RL gets in the way) but I always plan to respond even if it takes me a while. It always, always makes my day to see a comment pop into my inbox and I reread comments a lot to keep up motivation when writing so its the least I can do <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably tell me you love me, come back and haunt me (S/J, 23K, complete) although its more of a bittersweet ending rather than an all out angsty one. I love laying on the angst when working through a fic but always aim to give something hopeful at the end (Sirius and James had enough tragedy in canon imo haha)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'm a HEA girlie, so like most of them.
Maybe you'll see me in hindsight because the happy ending was hard won and I lingered in the happy ending for longer than usual.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Rarely, luckily.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Sometimes. Usually its pretty vanilla in terms of kink.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No. Well, I did when I was a teen, but those were pretty terrible so luckily there is nothing of that published :P
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I dont think so (luckily)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, I have been lucky enough to have four translated (or partially translated) from English to 中文-普通话 國語 (links below)!! I am always so flattered when someone offers to translate my fics.
【授翻】In Plain Sight 昭彰 by hsothe
【授翻】在人生低谷中坠入爱河 by MoAhx
【鹿犬】令我无眠的你的幽灵 by amnesiaby
【授权翻译】tell me you love me, come back and haunt me by foxleaaap
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I'm quite insecure/secretive about my writing before I am ready to publish so I don't know how well my process would work with that... but it would be cool.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Sirius/James always... my longest running ship by far. I always circle back to them.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I want you to ruin my life. I ended up anon-ing it because I felt so guilty every time I saw it on my works page. But I just lost the thread of that plot completely and had a few changes in opinions about how I think Sirius in Slytherin would be, which clashed with the story already written. But I'll never so say never, I've started to have some thoughts about it again, so maybe I'll get back into it...
16. What are your writing strengths?
Hmmmm um, the beginning of fic? Idk I feel like writing the set up for fics is at least the easiest part for me. I love thinking up what if scenarios and running from there.
Dialogue and angst & hurt/comfort also comes must easier to me than like action scenes and fluff.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Where to start lol, the most frustrating ones for me I think are plotting and writing a satisfying ending/climax.
I also struggle a bit writing clever characters as smart as they should be (hamstrung by my own intelligence lol).
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Not sure if my opinion really counts here as someone whose only fluent in english, but I like to see it if its done respectfully and makes sense in the story.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
and a love that I dreamt of came to me at my worst
This was my pet project over a really special time in my life and I think I will always have a massive soft spot for it (and find myself drawn to rereading parts of it often). I also managed to throw in a lot of tropes I personally really enjoy into this one (mid aged Sirius & James, midlife crisis James, competent Sirius (and James), mutual pining, co-dependency, jealous James, Harry having loving parents/adults in his life, etc).
This was so fun! Tagging: @jamesunderwater @bullets-from-another-dimension @lovelymasks @forestdeath1

chaotic book ramble so I can stop spiraling into the abyss: my childhood favorite books that I've been thinking about lately
I start college in four days, where I'll be pursuing an English degree. I've been both a reader and by extension a writer my whole life. lately, I've been thinking about the books I loved when I was younger that fueled this passion and thus helped me along to where I am now <3
The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer. I still have my old copies of these books, and when I tell you they are well-loved, I mean they are well-loved. they're sort of fairytale retellings, and take place in the Land of Stories, which exists as a parallels world to this one where fairytale characters are real and living beyond their happily ever afters. the books follow twins Alex and Connor, who find out (spoiler?? lol) that their grandmother is the fairy godmother. all sorts of stuff goes down, and honestly I only remember half of it like a fever dream, but I remember really loving it in book five (?) when they get to meet the characters from stories Connor wrote. honestly, I probably read the entire series over fifty times, and that's not an exaggeration. first read them the year the third book came out, when I was nine. waiting for the rest was, I recall, absolute torture.
the Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. this is so funny to me, because these books basically set me up for my later teen years and loving the Folk of the Air series by Holly Black - but I digress. I first read these at age eight in a high-stress time of my life, and as a result they were likely deeply formative. they follow twins Jared and Simon (more twins ??) and their older sister Mallory (thinking back, she was absolutely part of my bi awakening). they move with their mother into the old Spiderwick mansion, and soon discover a fieldguide all about faeries and different fae species that live in the woods surrounding the house. I honestly think that the plot of these books is batshit, but I still sort of love them. there's a movie, but it's terrible, and aggressively condenses the plot into something completely unrecognizable.
Harry Potter, by... Harry Potter. isn't it great that, after his time at Hogwarts, he decided to write a seven-book autobiography?? so funky of him!! anyways - I read these at the ripe age of ten, and stuck by loving them since. HP was my first fandom, and maybe the one I'm fondest of (actually, thinking on this, no), and Hogwarts in general holds a lot of nostalgia for me. this being said, I still love the books, but I have to say that I reread them last year for the first time since I was maybe 14/15 and um. wow. Mr. Potter you are?? problematic??? someone please tell me why the adult man who was allowed to abuse children in a position of power for sixteen years got a redemption arc but the literal CHILD who was born into an abusive and power-hungry family didn't. also why is Dumbedore hailed as such a bloody saint?? he's worse than fucking Voldemort. I said what I said. also it's super confusing that Harry never mentioned in his autobiography that his Sirius and Remus were happily married and living at Grimmauld place. weird storytelling choice I guess!!
all those damned Warrior cats books by Erin Hunter. I swear to god these books had crack in them I ATE THEM UP from the ages of like. eight to eleven?? maybe??? genuinely, I must've reread them a hundred times, but I could tell you NOTHING about the plots. a few vibes, maybe, but zero plots. did they even have plots?? were plots a thing in those books??? how was I so obsessed with them???? funniest part is the fact that I see people talking about them on the internet now and it's just. insane. actually insane.
Lockwood and Co by Jonathan Stroud. full transparency: I read these for the first time at age eleven (around the time the fourth book out of five came out) and now remain an active member of the fandom. I love these books, and these characters, with my whole heart and I want nothing more than them to be happy. the Netflix show, though I have some pretty severe gripes with it, is still really amazing and absolutely deserves a second season. the books are set in London, where ghosts are real deeply dangerous, and follow the main trio of Lucy, Lockwood, and George. I reread them at the start of the year in preparation for the show, and they're genuinely just incredible works. I sobbed a lot reading them. they're absolutely comfort reads for me; 35 Portland Row is home.
wow. that was a lot. there's honestly several more I could talk about (School for Good and Evil, Percy Jackson, etc), but this is a long enough post for now, ha. love you all <3

*crickets*
would it even be me if I wasn't very late to the party
when did you join ? what made you join ? what do you remember from the plotlines that were current at the time ? where were you in life when you joined and where are you now ?
I believe it was the end of 2016, but I havent been able to find Lis original blog in a bit to double check. At the time I joined I hadn't roleplayed in forever, and was just getting over my first break up and needed a distraction. I had found chambord around before but never joined it. I believe I first saw chambord when I went back to an old rp blog and someone from that group had been using their blog for chambord. Even in Hshq i was not known for my consistency in activity but honestly this rp was the longest period I ever wrote anything. From highschool through university to now being almost done with my masters in a whole fucking continent is trully insane. This rp saw me through most of my 20's and the last of my teens. That's crazy.
which characters have you written over the years ?
Oh god, so fucking many. I know I will forget some. Lis will forever have a specially place in my heart. She went through so many changes but she was always a fucking mess and I love her for it. I'm not sure how long it would have taken all 3 of her iterations to be happy but she would be fighting tooth and nail the whole time against it I'm sure. You can not say she was not determined (to be fucking miserable).
I loved all of Lis's versions, and I tried to keep her core the same but I'm not sure if that sucessed. She came from very different backgrounds and was in so many different situations. I will never forget that original Arnauld murdered their parents in cold blood just for that crown.
Lisvent was so so fun and I was so happy when Hailee came up with him. As many have said in the past my like for Levente showed up to much in Lis by the end. I don't know if they would have found civility at any point, but maybe Lis would have grown cold and mean and meet him halfway. This Lis was much harder to write as sad and misserable because the spanish were such a - not functional maybe but loving family. It's hard to be the saddest gay when your sister loves you i guess?
The last Lis was probably the most deranged. I do not regret her though, but I think she had straid to much away from what Lis was at her core. She was older, and much more manipulative and I think i never quite got her right. but her and Stela were very fun while they lasted <3
Miray <3 my sweet. I do regreat I never finished her bad bitch transformation. But at least her and Hafiz made up and were happy by the end of their days together. Who would have through. I like to believe by now her and Layla would have made up too because anything else would be to painful. Daisuke is still on thin ice however. She will forever be Aslan's first born, and I think this fight at the end just shows that. She was finally rebeling against her real father.
A surprising third on this list perhaphs will be Arthur Sr. I know I never did much with him ( and I loved seeing C's take on him, she brought him to life in a way I never could.) but the english siblings plot, even if it has been over for a while specially for me, was one of my favorite things.
That brings us to Reha, who is 1000% living with Bruce's in his country house, she has sheep and has a long term lumberjane girlfriend. I will not take questions. I don't think she's talked with any of the siblings for a while, but maybe one day she will grow a spine and appolagise for all she did to all of them. Face her errors and all that.
Petro was a wild mess but I enjoyed my time with him. I will never forget the one word to one gif sibbling thread. I've said this in the fam chat already but Petro is a girlfather now, he co-parents with the mother but they're not together. I don't think he will ever grow up enough to be a good husband but I like to think he will be a good father at least. He may still be after claude or whatever name Inna has for him this week.
I would also like to talk about nic tho i don't know if anyone remembers him. He was very fun to play and I'm sad I never did more with him. The protest t-shirts are a fun memory.
There are a few others I never had much time to do much with, valentina, seonhye, Genoa, Ariel, a bodyguard from galicia, Rhea sister of Gaia not to be confused with Reha, probably more
I can't forget andrés in all this mess. Him and Lis are probably my most recognizable characters of hshq, Bandrés was so fun and I can't believe we started this with Dani being 5 years old and he's almost a teenager now. That's insane. There are a lot of inside jokes coming from Bandrés and ASS and I don't think I'll ever forget this ragtag team of MeanGirls wannabees (MeanCatalans). Thanks Evy for making Andrés so fun to play with both Barbie and Sergi, and thanks Dee for entertaining our crazy with Simó after so long of these two being unsupervised <3.
what is your favourite plotline that you've been part of ?
Probably Catalonia. It became such a big part of hshq and I enjoyed it very much. But I'll be honest - I was always a fan of making up the wildest craziest shit up possible but I rarely could make it to the end. So Catalonia was only my favorite cause Evy took it on and made something real of it. I was a very bad political player.
I really enjoyed the "Everyone hates Andrés" gag too. This man has had 2 friends his whole life and no one else can stand him.
All of the other plots mentioned above were so fun too however. I'm truly so grateful to everyone on this rp for putting up with my bullshit.
what about other people's plotlines ?
I loved all of Arnauld's shit tremendolessly and I'm forever in awe of Martha and her caraterization of him.
who is your favourite character from the ones you've played ? why ? what made you love them ? what made them so fun to write ?
I love all of them very differently. I think it would likely be a tie between Lis, Miray and Andrés. This will likely not surprise anyone as they are the i've played the longest. They were very fun to write because I could dip my foot in politics without having to be too involved. I think that was always my downfall in this rp - I was not good at the political plays.
if you could relive a plotline, which would it be ?
Early Bandrés fighting was so fun to write. They became so very friendly by the end (good for them of course but still). We tried to shake them up a little but never will quite be like those early Bandrés threads where they couldn't keep their hands off eachother, nor stop arguing.
is there a plotline that you'd edit now if you could ?
I don't think so. I would like to finish some things I never did but fully change something? I would have maybe made Lis 3.0 her own character so I could have explored her more mean spirited, manipulative vibes more.
what's a plotline you wish you would have been able to finish before closing or just write more of ?
I would have loved to give Miray a more finished storyline. Have her figure out her place in the family and the world in general. She was to immature by the end and too lost, I wish some of that had been fixed before I lost all my time with my masters.
what is your favourite ooc memory ?
I have so many. I enjoyed the group discord very much over the years. I also love the verb naomi'ed until the end of my days.
My favorite might be the day everyone posted voice posts of the characters names in the correct language- it was so fun to hear these characters names correctly!
There is so much of my growing up that is tied to this group. My mom knows about some of you guys. "I'm talking to my brasilian friend" "Oh I know someone who lives in Northern Europe"
where can others find you if they want to get in touch ?
Discord is probably the easiest. I have a tumblr I use for little but if you'd like it @glitradora and if anyone would like it please feel free to ask for my whatsapp number either here by message or on discord <3
what else would you like to say ?
I will miss this rp so much - and surely I will lose track of some of you guys because of it closing. If so I hope to find you at some point in the future. I've know some of you for 8 years - that's longer than some of my irl friends. It's going to be wild to not have an hshq to come back too. but I will be bothering you all in the discord as long as it stays open. <3
ps. speciall for serre: 🍅🍅🍅

I just finished reading Collision (WOWSIE what a wild ride) and since I’m always inordinately curious about the authors’ backgrounds I’d just like to know how old you are and if English is your native language? Ok tbh I quite literally gasped when you threw out the little fun fact before the epilogue about how you started writing the fic when you were a teenager and now I’m wildly intrigued to know how old EXACTLY you were when you wrote that monstrosity of a story because - again - WOWSIE!
THANK U ❤️❤️ english is definitely not my first language no heh i'm swedish! (which is surely detectable in the early chapters. n probably throughout generally.) but i've always loved the english language n collision definitely played a part in polishing and refining it!! n now i'm doing a masters degree in english lit so hey
as for my age, i started thinking of the concept when i was 14 (yikes!). n then it was just brewing for like a year while i occasionally entertained it n just fantasized abt characters n plots i never thought i'd truly write. but then i slowly started writing in 2014 n when i had the first 6 chapters i started uploading 😌 so i wrote it over the ages of 14-18 (n then when i finished the epilogues i was 20). so uhhh yeah! it is truly a pillar of my teen years! but that's also my valid excuse for all the flaws i itch to correct whenever i revisit it :^))

Sorry if this has been asked, already. Do you remember when your passion for fic began? Was it in childhood?
I ask this, because my own journey started at age 9 with Highlander. There were so many possibilities for Duncan to pair up with male characters, yet the writers insisted on that pitifully bland female pairing.
I fixed the problem.
ahaha nice, well done you ⭐ I've still never watched that show even though one of my parents did, like a lot of things I think it might have been deemed ~too mature~ for me when it was airing.
I do know that when I was about age 5, I wrote a story on my parents' computer about being friends with a.. I think it was a rhinoceros? I've still got it somewhere, it's printed out on that old-ass printer paper with the detachable strips full of holes down each side 😂 I did enjoy fiction writing in the occasional school English class assignment, and from what I recall I might even have been half-decent at it. I also vaguely remember watching Stargate as a teen and thinking at one point about how much I wanted to see two of the characters getting it on (I've actually spent the last couple years racking my brains trying to remember who exactly it was, and I'm still not sure. Might have been Cam and Daniel but it could just as easily been, like, Jonas and Martouf for all I know).
But, I had no idea I could actually just... write my own stories about other peoples' stories until I finally discovered fanfic in my early 30s 😶 Once I did, though, hoo boy. Haven't stopped since, save for the occasional burn out / writer's block of a month or two here and there. I love it.

20 Author Questions
Tagged by @blackbird-brewster, thank you, this was so fun!!!
How many works do you have on AO3?
Only five so far!
2. What's your total AO3 wordcount!
83,545 apparently, which is much more than I expected.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently and on AO3, only Criminal Minds, but in my time on ff dot net I also wrote for House MD, Grey's Anatomy, Once Upon A Time, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Annie (in hindsight, what a random assortment??)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Twin Flames (377 kudos)
Sin to Win (234 kudos)
midnight (184 kudos)
lean for me (170 kudos)
All This and Heaven Too (73)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I always respond to comments! Usually whenever I update with a new chapter. Comments make me so so happy (seriously I cannot even begin to describe it) so I really want to show my appreciation to readers, even though I'm usually quite bad at thinking of ways to reply.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hm most of my fics are unfinished, but if all goes to plan, midnight or All This and Heaven Too will probably have the most bittersweet endings.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Twin Flames! Maybe lean for me too if I ever finish that.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not on AO3 so far. I used to get some hate on ff dot net, but I think commenting culture in general is a bit harsher over there so.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Only unpublished for myself so far haha. But (perhaps controversial) if I ever post any it's going to be f/f omegaverse because it's underrated and there's a tragic lack of it everywhere.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written?
Definitely! I'm obsessed with fusion crossovers and there's lots of half-finished ones in my docs and notes app. My only published one so far (and I suppose the craziest) is my Criminal Minds x Twilight crossover midnight though.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge! I hope not
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've had someone ask to translate Sin to Win into Chinese, which was really cool!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I co-wrote like three chapters of a OUAT fic with my ex-best friend years ago, but I think we got bored and abandoned it, so no clue if it's out there somewhere still.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Easily JJ/Emily, literally do not get me started on how tragic they are, idk what it is but I've never been so obsessed with a ship before.
15. What's a fic you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Sorry to anyone who likes it because it was my most popular fic until very recently, but probably Sin to Win. I really hate what I did with the plot from Chapter 2 onwards and I'm confused about what past-me thought a cognitive interview was, because that's almost definitely not how they work. The plot's just a mess that I'm not sure how to unravel lol. I am still totally in love with the premise though, so maybe in the future I'll start over and delete the last few chapters.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I would definitely say writing descriptions (easily one of my favourite parts of writing in general), I love getting to capture a vibe.
Also conciseness (thanks to every English teacher I've ever had, and all the hundred word short stories I was forced to enter as a teen lol) although it can definitely be a double-edged sword when trying to reach higher wordcounts.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
OMG definitely dialogue. Idk if people reading my fics can tell but I avoid it as much as possible, and that's because between my autism and social anxiety, I just genuinely do not know/understand what people are supposed to say in a conversation + how (although I definitely think I've at least improved in structuring dialogue realistically), especially in character.
Also, just like, plots, lol.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Personally, I tend to prefer for the writer to just be like, "she said in French." I'm bilingual, English is my second language, and I feel like often when people write poly-lingual characters in particular they're kind of clumsy about the character using another language. I've definitely seen people do it very well though!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh boy, I'm actually not sure if I remember, I must have been like twelve or thirteen at the time. I'm going to tentatively guess Grey's Anatomy.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
It's between Twin Flames (my baby, the first fic I've ever finished) and All This and Heaven Too (I loved writing young JJ and Emily so much).
No pressure tags: @kingofhellsdaydream @introverted-author @ellegreenawayslover + anyone else who fancies it
