#i watch the mentalist every year it is my favorite
Text
was tagged by @mooshkat (thank you friend!!) to list 8 tv shows for my followers to get to know me better!
for someone who repeatedly watches the same shows over and over and hyperfixates on certain fandoms, you’d think this would be easy for me but …. it’s not 😂
1. 9-1-1 2. 9-1-1: Lone Star 3. Young Royals 4. The Mentalist (Patrick Jane my beloved...) 5. Broad City 6. The Good Place 7. Black Mirror 8. Disjointed
I will always be re-watching at least one of these, if not multiple (right now, it's Broad City and 9-1-1 hehe)
anyway, since I just watch the same shows over and over again, I'm excited to see what everyone else watches! @wheelsupin-five (I tried tagging two-cut-lines at first lmao) @paqerings @lilbuddie @the-likesofus @shortsighted-owl @poughkeepsies @alyxmastershipper @leslieknopeinthepit

Tumblr Fandom: A Year in Review 2023
Tagged by @mistmarauder and I'm pretty sure I'm contractually obligated to do as she says so...
Top Five Blorbos: Eddie Diaz, Evan "Buck" Buckley, Patrick Jane, Edgin Darvis, Xenk Yendar
Top Five Fandoms: 9-1-1, Fast & Furious, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, The Mentalist, The Witcher
Top Five OTPs: Buddie, Xedgin, whatever the hell Dom/Brian is called (there is so little fanfic for them I am weeping), Jisbon, House/Shenanigans uh I mean House/Wilson/Cuddy
Shoutout to Some New Friends: @princessfbi and @tulipfromtheinternet have been very kind to me, leaving treats out on their porches for me to sniff. I even let them pet me after a few months of slowly earning my trust!
Shoutout to Some Old Friends: @mistmarauder and @catdadeddie are two friends I grew closer with this year, and have done a lot to restore my trust in people. They've put up with an unfair amount of prickliness and distrust on my part with grace and love. @evcndiaz has also put up with me dropping into her inbox with fun (horrifying) facts about human anatomy, which earns her a gold medal. And of course @givemeunicorns @devilsbrokerank @captainofthefallen and @extasiswings continue to be my rocks and remind me that there are good people in this world, and that some of those good people might actually love me.
Favorite Creation You Posted This Year: Genuinely I feel like with my Halloween fics I have done the best work in my fanfiction career. I'm shocked at how proud I am of the fanfics I put out this year, including my Wednesday fic and my Xedgin fics. It's impossible for me to choose a favorite.
Favorite Creation Posted by Someone Else This Year: @kittykatthetacodemon had me reading fic for fandoms and ships I'm not even in or shipping? she's just that fucking good? holy shit go watch Mag7 and then read her fics just. just do it.
People Who Brightened Your Year: @lisbonsteresa always and forever brightens my days, and it was a delight this year to be in the same fandom again as she got me hooked on The Mentalist, @mistmarauder always makes me laugh even (especially) when she's roasting me, and @extasiswings helped me get away from the real world a couple times when I needed it.
Anyone Else You'd Like to Mention: I'm so grateful to all of my readers, always. Your enthusiasm and comments are what keep me going. Thank you thank you thank you.
Five of Your Favorite Authors This Year: I'll be honest I have barely read any fanfic this year since I simply haven't had time but a quick shout out again to @kittykatthetacodemon because Mist forced me to read her fanfics at gunpoint and I've never been so happy to be at gunpoint after reading them. I've reread her Hobbs & Shaw fics literally a dozen times, she nails the hysterical over-the-top banter from the F&F films and it has me giggling every time.
Oh and @henswilsons. Forever and always making me laugh with your delightful fics. Never stop, dear.
Five of Your Favorite Artists/Gifmakers/Podficcers/Etc. This Year: @captain-hen so many times I see a gifset that makes me insane and it's by you, you menace. @like-the-rest-of-la lovely art from a lovely person. @bucksketch you make art that has me screeching and twirling my hair and kicking my feet. @mistmarauder your podfics, babe, you know how much I adore them. Um I'm terrible at remembering urls (I'm even worse with names). Uh. Um. Uhhhh. Uhhhhhhh... *we're all still waiting days later*

You sat quietly at the table staring at your big brother in amazement. You never thought in a million years you’d be sitting at your brother’s wedding, but here you were. You smiled as you watched him dance with his new bride. John had always been a player, but ever since he met Alana, he was a changed man. You fiddled with the fall floral centerpiece while you got lost in your thoughts.
“There’s my gorgeous girls,” a warm, familiar voice said from behind you. You turned in your seat to see your gorgeous boyfriend, Marcus, approaching the table. “She’s out like a light, huh?” He nodded towards your daughter, Sarah, who was sound asleep in your arms.
“Yeah,” you said quietly. “I guess flower girl duties wiped her out.” You looked down at your little angel. She had her father’s dark hair and eyes, but her face was an exact replica of yours. Marcus sat down next to you and gently brushed a wayward curl off Sarah’s forehead.
“I’m surprised she’s sleeping through all this noise,” Marcus mused.
“Are you really, though?” You asked with a quiet laugh. “This child sleeps like a zombie.”
“True,” Marcus laughed. Sarah was almost a year and a half old. You smiled to yourself when you thought about how the last three years had gone. You had finished up with grad school before Sarah was born—thank god. You had been lucky enough to to find a job right away, and they were more than happy to allow you to work remotely so you could be home with the baby. Being a new mom and juggling a new career simultaneously had been stressful, but Marcus was there with you every step of the way. He was the best dad. Sarah was his whole world, and he loved her with an intensity you never imagined existed.
Things between you and Marcus were amazing. He was still just as doting and passionate as he was that first night in the hotel in Denver, almost three years ago. You glanced over at your parents. They were thrilled that John was finally settling down. He had met Alana about six months after your first Christmas with Marcus.
Marcus had told you about his encounter with Alana on Christmas Eve once John mentioned who he was dating. You both shared a laugh, and Marcus was genuinely happy the kind woman who helped him buy your favorite present had finally found a good man.
The only cloud on this joyous day was your parents’ lack of understanding on your own marital status. Despite being together three years, being madly in love, and sharing a daughter, you and Marcus were still not married. Not even engaged. Your families were completely baffled. Your brother—the serial heartbreaker—was now married to a woman that he had known less time than you and Marcus had been dating…and you and Marcus have known each other your whole lives. So…why no ring?
It was a simple answer. Neither of you felt the need to rush it. You both were enjoying your life, and the ring would come in time. You had wanted to finish school and work for a few years before getting married anyway. The unexpected arrival of your daughter had thrown a bit of a wrench in your plans, but neither of you wanted to get married before you were ready just because you had a baby. Marcus was fully on board. You did ask him about it just before Sarah was born though. Marcus was well known as a man who loved to commit…so why no official commitment with you?
He had smiled your favorite smile—the one that made his eyes crinkle on the sides—and tucked your hair behind your ear.
“The reason I was in such a hurry to make a commitment in the past,” he had explained, “was because I was always afraid of losing them. I never felt that they were truly mine. Never felt they wanted the relationship as much as I did, so I—stupidly—thought making a more profound commitment would ensure they stayed. I know better now. It didn’t work out with all my other relationships because I was never theirs. I was always yours. We were made for each other, Peanut. I never have to worry about you not being mine. You were always mine. It just took me too damn long to realize it. I’m in no rush to solidify this relationship in the eyes of the rest of the world. You’re the other half of my soul. I can wait as long as you need me to. We have forever. What’s a few more years?” That revelation had resulted in many tears (of love and admiration) and one of the hottest nights of sex of your life.
You were grateful that Marcus was giving you the time you needed. But it had been long enough. You had accomplished everything you wanted to before settling down…and you really wanted to be Mrs. Pike.
You looked back at your gorgeous boyfriend. He was smiling warmly at you.
“How about you let Grandma hold Sleepy Beauty for a bit so I can dance with the most gorgeous woman in the room?” He asked.
“Marcus,” you scolded gently, “you can’t say something like that at someone else’s wedding. The bride is the most gorgeous woman on her wedding day.”
“Alright, if you say so, Peanut,” Marcus said with a wink. You laughed and stood up to bring Sarah over to your mom. She gladly took her only grandchild from your arms so you could step into Marcus’s. He held you close as you swayed to the music.
“This is a beautiful wedding,” you remarked, looking around the room.
“Yes,” Marcus agreed. “And Alana does make a beautiful bride…but I know you’ll be an even more beautiful bride one day, sweetheart.”
“Soon,” you answered. Marcus froze.
“Soon?” He parroted. You nodded. “Are you telling me you’re ready for the next step, baby?”
“I’m telling you that, the ball is in your court, Agent Pike,” you answered mysteriously. “Do with it what you will.” You grinned at him devilishly.
“Oh, sweetheart,” he smiled, “I’ve had years to think about this. Get ready. You think I’m romantic? You haven’t seen nothing yet.”
“Do your worst,” you said with a grin.
“I intend to, Peanut,” he replied. “I intend to.”

🍄⭐️🌺🍀
oooo we're getting deep!! i love these questions.
I'll do a read more since these are longer asks <3
send me an emoji!
🍄 what is something that’s happened in your life that you wish you could go back and change? losing my job a few months ago. it shattered my confidence in what i fear is a very permanent and far-reaching way. associates aren't confident to begin with (they shouldn't be—it's the stage of the career we're in, and most good supervisors say they'd be more concerned by an associate who doesn't have some level of self-doubt), but it's now combined with a fear that i can't trust my supervisor as someone i can ask for help and me questioning every decision i made in the last year. it literally shook me to my core and it makes me so upset because what little confidence i did have was so hard-earned and important, and even though everyone (including my own therapist who is also a supervisor) agrees it was my supervisor and not me, i truly don't know if i'm going to get over this.
⭐️ what is one of your biggest accomplishments? Why is it so important to you? everything about undergrad. i know it's cheesy but it's truly where i became who i am, all because of those people and experiences (particularly getting in/choosing to go, my minor, and my hospitalization/pandemic graduation, as those were the most defining parts).
🌺 what is the best gift someone has ever given you and why is it so important i love talking about gifts so I'm going to name a few hehe sorry
literally every gift you have given me could fall into this category, but the first one that comes to mind is when you sent me those watercolors. it was very much out of nowhere and the way you encourage me to keep practicing art is just so meaningful to me.
the goodbye gifts I got from the last daycare I worked at and my traineeship site for grad school, because both made me feel so loved and understood and I was proud of myself for taking it in.
my favorite undergrad professor gives copies of a book to some seniors, but she gave mine to me a year early because i was having a really hard time with the core classes for my minor ending (meaning i wouldn't see her every week). i was in tears about never seeing her again (we both knew damn well i'd see her again) and she took me so seriously. she gave me the book and told me she wouldn't dedicate it until i was actually graduating, which meant we had to see each other again. it meant so much to me that she took me seriously and made an exception for me.
🍀 what is your comfort show/series and why is it your comfort show? How has it helped you?
I think eventually my answer will include Castle or The Mentalist, but not yet because of the "gets in way too deep" thing.
I think it's a tossup between Bones, Friends, and Gilmore Girls, but I might go with Gilmore Girls. Of those three, it was the last one I watched (I watched when I was 16/17), but it meant that the height of my obsession coincided with me moving away to college, so it's really associated with my freshman year of college 💜

rules: tag 9 people you want to get to know better or who are just your friends who you always tag on these things wait who said that. i was tagged by @vivathewilddog
last song: "the absence of god" by rilo kiley. when i was at a wonder years show last month, "it's a hit" came on one of the between-sets playlists, which obviously made me want to listen to the entirety of more adventurous, which i then went home and did, and then my favorite tracks from the album migrated over to my metro playlist, which i was listening to on shuffle on my way home from work today and that was the last song that played before i got back to my apartment.
last show: i am going to interpret this as last music show, since there's a tv question right below this, and concerts are more interesting. i saw vienna teng at a tiny coffeeshop this past weekend! it was lovely! she's so good!!! also last month i went to two wonder years shows in a row and lost my voice for several days. they're also so good!!!
currently watching: i'm watching 911, abbott elementary, and bob's burgers loosely as they air (usually within a few days of the new episode dropping), and i'm watching ted lasso but i'm a few episodes behind, because apple tv logged me out of tasha's account and it's a pain in the ass to log back in. i am very slowly working my way through succession and just finished season one. also, because sometimes you need to put on a gimmicky procedural from the mid-late '00s and let it totally smooth out your brain, i've been watching the mentalist to unwind before bed. it is such a stupid little copaganda show and it makes my brain feel so smooth.
currently reading: i just finished the member of the wedding by carson mccullers, which is the book for this weekend's book club meeting and i'm excited to discuss it with my pals! and i just started the dead romantics by ashley poston, which i can tell is going to grate on me a little, stylistically, but i'm soldiering on because i'm trying to give more contemporary romances a shot. i am also still slowly working my way through the home team: fathers, sons, and hockey by roy macgregor — i read a chapter every week or so, it usually makes me cry, etc etc.
current obsession: god i guess it's still. fuckin rat boy. ratthew. tkachuckles cheese himself. and his big dumb german boyfrienemy. also i know it's been over half a year but i'm still obsessed with the hum goes on forever. also obsessed with playing old jimmy eat world songs on the guitar, with making silly little beverages with the office keurig as afternoon treats, and with maggie’s and my current main chatfic, which will never leave the gchats but sustains me nonetheless. OH also obsessed with that one cidery, iykyk, i wanna go baaaaaaaaack
i'm tagging @hopetorun @bropunzeling @leapyeap @drysdaales @birdcage @thecroissantgirl @bakingblues @slightly @devantesmithpelly if y'all want to! 💖

Recently I got myself into the Criminal Minds hole, and I've gathered some things that I may or may not understand.
Bit of backstory. A few years ago, I was watching TV and came across The Mentalist series, which I really liked at that time, and after I got somehow bored with my obsession I had a thought to search something similar.
Lucky for me, I've come across Criminal Minds. At that time I wasn't playing favorites or having much thought about it, but because of tik tok I gave a chance again, and started rewatching it. Usually, I get bored with long series, but somehow this series hits some things on my list.
Now, the things that I've seen the fans do and say that I don't understand.
1. Simp for Will. I don't have anything with the actor, but I don't find him that attractive? He looks nice but not enough to say he is freakishly handsome. I personally don't like his character that much and tbh in some seasons he feels like he doesn't belong there, but the writers had to do something with him. I also know the rumor that the writers tried to kill him many times but somehow they let him live. In season 16 too is the beginning of an idea to kill him.
2. Hate JJ. I know that her confession was out of nowhere and out of character, but somehow I think the writers had an idea, and not enough episodes to run it. It was weird? Yes. Unexpected? Maybe. Didn't make any sense? Debateble. The thing that made the hate be possible is the fact that the writers made "mother and family woman" be the entire personality of JJ, forgetting that she was an interesting character before that, and the whole confession thing was seen as a betrayal to that "personality". The haters have to understand that over the seasons you rarely see JJ being able to express her emotions. She usually helds them until she can't. Seeing her best friend getting trough things that she can't help with or save him is something that messes you up, and accounting the fact that we know JJ sister committed, she was scared of losing someone again. Feelings may come in these situations, que to the time Will was in danger and JJ accepted to marry him, although she didn't like the idea. Also being at a gun point is a stressful situation. Is not a bad idea what the writers did, but the execution is shitty. They could've made her and Will break up or make their relationship be in shambles, smth to make sense. So hate the writer, not the character.
3. Babying Reid but sexualising him. This one is quite funny cause he doesn't like to be babyied. There are some fans who are really aggressive in protecting Reid, some of them are JJ haters and they have a problem with everyone that "dares" to say that Reid made mistakes in the past as well as any other character. Some are like that, but other add to the protection the sexualising. I don't understand why would you baby him, but the next second say something so out of character of him. I know headcanon exists but damn I've seen some assumptions that were so disturbing. Please keep the fantasies to a minimum.
4. The obsession with prison Reid. I guess bet on the fans to find something so traumatic be so sexy? Jesus
5. The writers and their inconsistencies. Here I think is easy to understand so no need to explain.
6. Luke and Matt. I think they are nice characters, but they feel like something to fill a void. Which is sad, tbh. Because you can make a character be something else and still have the same characteristics of another character. Luke for example, make his character, don't try to make him be like Morgan because is not easy. Every, character in that show, up until season 11 has been there for a while, and the roles they have, they're not just that. At one point the character gets some things that the actor makes and imprints on it. Like with Reid and his mismatched socks because MGG wears them like that. Or Shemar who is a natural flirt etc. Matt is a successful family man but we already have someone who has a successful family life. Make them different and interesting.
7. Not respecting other ships. I've seen fans who are Jemily or Jeid shippers that get constant hate by the Jill shippers(I know that there are other ships, but this one I saw recently) . What's canon is canon and rarely can be changed, but like I said headcanon exists. I personally think that you can enjoy every ship you want without troubles. You want to ship Jeid? Do it. You want to ship Morgan and Reid? Do it. You keep the og ships? No problem, but don't disturb others.
8. X character is superior. Every character is different, and every character has some things you may or may not like. Coming to compare a character with another, when they don't have anything similar, is an asshole move. Enjoy your character and be nice.
And that's about it.

I’m not sure if you’ve answered this before, but in case you haven’t, what are your top 10 characters? I’ve always had the same couple of character in mind but working remotely for the last few years made me watch a lot of current and past tv and I’ve changed my opinion a lot. Some characters that I thought were amazing when I was younger are really underwritten or bland, or just not what I thought at all lol. It’s nice to have a better perspective but it also made me stop rewatching because I want to keep some old favourites still!
Lol, anon, the wrench you've thrown into my night! I might have been asked this before, but I don’t think I’ve ever answered, it's always been so difficult to pick and rank, but for some reason, I decided to give it a try tonight.
Oddly enough, I don't really think I've experienced what you have, but aww, that sucks, to lose faves like that, or to be afraid to lose them. :x Hopefully you’ve been able to add more!
I think the difference for me is that I don't really have individual favorites so much as archetypes? And that's going to show in this longass list of way more than 10 characters.
I decided to do a read more for both length as well as to give myself the option to edit in the future:
So this isn't an official list, I tried to make a list years ago and realized how difficult that would be and decided it'd be better to do archetypes/similar groupings, because there are SO many awesome characters, I can't remember and list every one of them, but archetypes I have a much better handle on.
This is messy because there might be overlap between groups but I spent a while tonight organizing them and sorting into a kind of spectrum so I think this is as good as it gets.
Oh, you may think they should be in different groups, but these are simply why they matter to me:
Boss ass bitches - The characters who're smart and ambitious and wield it well, it's plain fun watching them in charge:
Jessica Pearson Brenda Leigh Johnson Kerry Weaver Baroness Spoor (Crest of the Stars) Siuan Seo-hyun (Mine) Chrisjen Maria Hill (Added 2022-12-22)
Compassionate leaders - These are the leaders who're also of course badass and fun, but what I like about them specifically is the work they've put in to be kind, so it’s not a coincidence several of them are working to fix past mistakes. The rest are just very good at leading in ways that center other people:
Lexa (Kenshin/Xena - This was one of the earliest entries and my effort to try really group whole archetypes into single representative characters, so you can see how that works) Claire Redfield (movies version) Two (Dark Matter) Dutch (Killjoys) Kat Loving (Strange Empire) Warren (Z Nation) Naomi Nagata Janeway Amalia True (Added 2023-02-18) I might put someone like Laura Peterson in this one or the one above
Good-hearted and competent - These are the people I love for BOTH these traits, that their competence and skills are part of their personality, and it serves them in being good:
Seven of Nine Moiraine Kat Edison Donna Clark (HACF) Jessica Fletcher Ginger (Filthy Rich) Drummer Sam Carter Bobbie Draper Ellie Sattler Nakia Trinity Teresa Lisbon (Mentalist) Lafiel (Crest of the Stars) Probably the longest list, I'd put people like Kirsten from Vigil, Fear Street's Deena, Bletchley Circle's Susan, etc here
Incredibly big-hearted - These people may be many things, including extremely competent, but my first love for them is just how much they strive to do the right thing:
Kara Danvers Nausicaa (Ghibli) Raya Sister Julienne (Call the Midwife) Hi-soo (Mine) Jade Tanchingco Khirad (Humsafar) Rory Gilmore James Holden (Added 2021-12-23 - Moved here 2022-03-04) Frodo (Added 2022-03-04) Ava (Added 2022-12-06) Cruz (Special Ops Lioness) (Added 2023-09-03) Mickey Bolitar (Shelter) (Added 2023-09-07) This is where characters like Buffy and CW’s Nancy Drew (or every version, really), etc would also go
A little self-centered or demanding or flighty but ultimately still very lovely:
Glinda Upland Blair Warner Michiru Aaliyah (Special Ops Lioness) (Added 2023-09-03) Where LM Montgomery heroines and Fatin from The Wilds and Bess from CW’s Nancy Drew would go
A lot more self-centered or demanding but I love ‘em:
Rachel Berry Monica Gellar
Veering into straight up bitch territory but usually because of some insecurity or other: April Stevens Paris Gellar Quinn Fabray Katie Fitch Ava (General Hospital)
Neat characters who always win:
Harley Quin (not Harley Quinn, but the possibly only supernatural Agatha Christie detective, the personification of death) Psmith (Favorite of Wodehouse protags)
Doofuses:
Jay Kulina (Kingdom) Jean Ralphio Saperstein Kenneth Parcell Randy (Enlisted)
Misc:
Eve (Killing Eve - No idea where she falls now given her writing) Kurapika (and similar wildcard characters, not leads, too strong, others include Fuji from Prince of Tennis, Yukimura Sanada from Samurai Deeper Kyo, Soujiro from Kenshin, Doc Holliday from Tombstone) Keanu characters

You just had to bring the symbol of Victory into this didn't you?!???? Is this some sort of euphemism I should look forward to or!??!?!?????
Yes!! Let me “paint you a picture” (groan)... Also, I sat down to draft my response and it's somehow *gestures at this whole mess* 2300+ words!?? And confession time! I’ve never even SEEN "The Mentalist"! Everything I know about Marcus Pike has come from cute GIFs and the Internet and fanfics… so… I don’t even know what’s going on with me today. But thank you! :D
(This is leaking over from this post if anyone needs to play catch-up)
Paris
Word count: 2300+
Rating: mature, 18+ only
Outline: Marcus Pike x “You” in Paris, reader is an Art History Professor (cis/het female reader; “blank canvas”/no physical description/no name/no use of “Y/N”)
Warnings: slow burn; cute Marcus Pike; coffee and pastries; kissing and stuff; public-ish sex in the Louvre after hours; spontaneous P/V sex (probably unprotected, idek) we're all adults here, wrap it before YOU tap it!
It’s like, you and sweet Marcus have definitely hit it off and you’re really into each other after that field trip meet-cute and your date, but you haven’t slept together yet. He gets called away for a case, so you wish him good luck and hope that you can see each other again soon.
A few days later it’s spring break and you have a trip to Paris planned to complete some research for your next publication. You email Marcus while you're waiting to board. You let him know that you’re going to be out of town for a few days, but that you hope his case is going well, and maybe when he's back you two can pick up where you left off?
You land in Paris and check your messages, and you see that Marcus has replied to your email. He says he can't share the details of his case, but that he hopes he'll be wrapped up by the end of the week, and that he definitely wants to see you again. He asks about your research trip, so you shoot a quick email back to fill him in on the details.
You get to your hotel and sink into a hot bath with your phone. You open your emails, and your brain tells you that you're just checking to confirm the details of your appointment with your research contact in the morning... but the little uptick in your heart rate tells you that you're actually looking for another reply from Marcus. And it's there. He says that he loves Paris and that your research sounds exciting. He asks where you’re staying? You give him the name of your hotel, and tell him that you haven't stayed there before, but it's cute.
Before the water even gets cold you have another reply, sending the butterflies behind your navel into a tizzy. He says that he's stayed there once or twice and that the café in the lobby has excellent pastries. You smile and let yourself imagine a vacation with Marcus, here in Paris, sharing pain au chocolat over a little table in the café. You refill the tub with hot water and sit daydreaming for so long that your fingers prune up.
You get out of the bath and wrap yourself in a plush robe, and sit on the edge of the bed. You email Marcus back, wishing him a good night and telling him that it's late where you are, but that you promise to try one of the pastries in the morning with your breakfast coffee. By the time you're in your nightgown and ready to sleep he's responded, wishing you sweet dreams and hoping that your research goes well. You smile and reply, "Thanks," and then drift down into pleasant dreams.
The next morning you take yourself to the little lobby café and treat yourself to a café crème and an almond croissant. Marcus was right, and you nearly moan aloud as you wrap your mouth around the flaky pastry. You open your email and send him a picture of your croissant with one bite missing, and you joke that you blame him for ruining you for any other boulangeries you might visit during your trip. By the time you're done with breakfast he's responded with a wink emoji and a quick "Sorry I ruined you," and you desperately want to email him back and boldly ask him to ruin you in other ways. You stop yourself, and your brain can't think of anything appropriate, so you just don't respond and you leave to go to your research appointment.
The day is long, and the dusty archives and a few misfiled papers cause small irritations. But you find a few of the things that you needed, so you call it productive enough. You break at 3 p.m. and decide to start again fresh in the morning. Maybe an early dinner and another scalding hot bubble bath will set you right. You decide that the weather is nice, and that your hotel is close enough that you can stroll back and people watch, disconnect your brain from your work and transition into relaxation mode along the way.
You arrive back at your hotel and go to your room to change. There is a card slipped under your door, the front desk letting you know that you have a delivery of some kind to pick up. You try to remember if any of your colleagues or your boss mentioned that they would send you anything? Is it paperwork? Some kind of file for your research? You decide to shower and change into a nice dress to lift your mood, and then head back out for dinner.
You take the card to the lobby desk and hand it to the desk clerk and he disappears into the back office. When he returns you're surprised to see that he's holding a floral arrangement, not huge or ostentatious, but lovely and cheerful and somehow your favorite color exactly. The clerk sets the vase on the desk. You reach for the card and open it.
"Good luck on your research. -Marcus"
You break into a wide grin and you practically float back to your room. You set the flowers on the room table and open your email to thank him. You send him a photo and an effusive "Thank you!" and a winky kiss emoji. Is that too much? No - if one little emoji scares him off then he's not the guy you thought he was.
He responds within minutes, a quick "You're welcome. Glad they arrived in one piece." and his own winky kiss emoji. Your heart flutters and you reply immediately, "They're really lovely. Thank you for thinking of me."
A moment later his next email pops up: "Can I take you to dinner and pick up where we left off?"
You reply: "Absolutely! I'll let you know as soon as I'm back in town!"
He responds: "No, I meant tonight."
You hesitate, does he want to call you and chat on the phone while you eat dinner? Some kind of video call, like a virtual date? Before you can type your reply, a new message pops up: "I'm actually in Paris. My case is here and I arrived a few days before you did. I didn't want to scare you off or come to your hotel unannounced, but I'm free tonight and I'd love to see you."
You throw your head back and laugh. This is definitely way more fun than eating alone and people-watching. You message back an enthusiastic, "Yes! I'm ready when you are!" and he emails you and says he'll see you in 30 minutes in the lobby. When you get downstairs he's waiting by the front desk, all soft scruff and loosened tie and warm brown eyes, just as you remembered. You smile and hug him, and in that moment you feel like a fairy-tale princess meeting her prince, being swept off your feet in the most romantic city in the world.
You have dinner at a cozy bistro around the corner, Marcus making you bubble with laughter as you talk. He listens to you moan about the missing pieces of your research, your pressing need to track down a letter from one artist to another that was mentioned in an old diary but which hasn't yet surfaced. You're sure it's around the archives somewhere, just waiting for you to piece it together with the rest of your project. Marcus tells you that his case is almost wrapping up, and if you want he can arrange to catch the same flight home as you. You smile and tell him that would be nice.
You finish dinner and he asks if you want to go to the Louvre, and you check the time and say that they're almost closing. Marcus smiles at you and says, "Don't worry about it," and he looks a little mischievous. You tell him you're up for an adventure, and he takes your hand and ushers you into a taxi.
When you arrive he asks the desk staff for someone he knows, and you make a quick run to the restroom. When you return, Marcus has two laminated badges, special access for professionals and visiting staff that allows you to stay for a few hours past closing. You can't believe your luck, being allowed to spend extra time in one of the most special places in the world, not to mention that your escort is the most handsome and charismatic man you've ever met.
You start in the Denon wing and wander through the museum, talking and laughing quietly, enjoying the opportunity to see things that you would normally have to fight hordes of tourists to see. And maybe "enjoy" isn't the right word, because if someone asked you how you were feeling right now, you would say you were "on cloud nine" or "elated" or "floating." It feels like a dream, and you're not sure if you're going to remember all of it later, but you desperately want to, and you're trying so hard to file every sight away into your brain.
When you reach the Mona Lisa, an odd hush falls over you, and you realize it's the first time you've ever seen it without a crowd twenty deep in front of it. Marcus seems to know what you're feeling, because he takes your hand, almost shyly. And he keeps holding it, warming your fingers as the two of you walk on. You stop in front of Delacroix, "Liberty Leading the People," and you tell Marcus that it's the first painting you ever fell in love with, a million years ago in high school during your very first art history class. You look at the painting and he looks at you, and when you finally turn toward him he captures your mouth in a warm, urgent, soft kiss. You can feel your eyes sparkling at him when he pulls away, and you don't say a word, you just smile and hold his hand as you walk through doorways and up and down stairs.
You come around a corner and there it is, probably the most famous statue in the world: the Venus de Milo. She takes your breath away, and then Marcus does, too, stealing a kiss when you least expect it. And you're torn completely in half, unsure if you would rather keep kissing him or just stare at the curves and planes of her body. So you try to do both; you kiss him and keep one eye on the Venus and you start to feel dizzy, like you've overloaded on sugar, but it's just the impossible circumstances that you've found yourself in.
And you break apart from him, and take his hand again, leading him into a corner that's a little more private. You back yourself against a wall and pull him to you by his tie, and you kiss him the way he deserves, with your full attention and precision. Minutes pass slowly, and you only come up for air because you're afraid you're going to faint. Your thigh is blazing hot where Marcus's hand has raked up under your skirt, and the only reason you don't fuck him right there is because of a security camera keeping watch on the alcove.
You tell him that you both should finish your tour and go back to your hotel, and he agrees. You try to keep your mind on the art, and you tell Marcus about how awestruck you were as a student when you learned about the way that sculptors could depict every curve and dimple of a woman's body through the wet drapery technique; the sensuality of the human form made only slightly more modest when viewed through a veil of fabric; the sheer awesome impossibility of marble carved to look like gauze.
You both get lost in the conversation, and you wander up a staircase and around a corner, and there it is: your absolute favorite piece of art, the piece that you have studied and memorized and dreamed about. And you've seen it before: you've been to the Louvre a handful of times, but this time there are no noisy footsteps echoing off the marble, no tourists trying to capture the glory of it with their tiny and unworthy cameras and phones when there are perfectly good books and postcards available in the gift shop... the Nike to end all Nikes, the Winged Victory of Samothrace. You are, quite simply, blown away.
And if it had been a normal weekend walking tour of the sacred Louvre, if you had been there with anyone else... you wouldn't have ended up wedged against the wall of the archway to her left, skirt hiked up as Marcus pounded into you, one of your bare legs hooked over his hip and your arms wrapped around his neck. If it had been any other day or any other time, you would have stopped him before he unzipped his fly and pulled his erection out; you would have had some remaining shred of propriety, of decency. But it wasn't a normal day and he wasn't a normal man, and you really weren't yourself.
You had gotten carried away by the late hour and the thrill of being allowed to wander the empty museum, and if you were being honest, you really wouldn't have wanted to stop it. You wanted to give in to the romance of the city and the priceless treasures on display and the heady conversations with Marcus. You wanted to be exactly where you were, with exactly who he was, doing exactly what you were doing and feeling exactly how you felt as he thrust into you and grunted your name like a chant while you traced the lines of the Nike with your lust-blown eyes.
You didn't make it to the Richlieu wing until a year later, on a sunny Saturday morning with your new husband Marcus.

I'd almost forgotten how much I loved The Mentalist and ship Jisbon, but I'm rewatching and more obsessed than ever :) So I need to fangirl with you: Who are your top three favorite Mentalist characters? (I already know who your top ship is!) Do you have any unpopular opinions on the show? What's your favorite season and least favorite season? And favorite Jisbon moments? ("All of them" is an acceptable answer!)
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEEE THE MENTALIST!!! SO. SO. MUCH.
Rewatching that show seriously got me through lockdown in 2020. I think I ended up watching it from beginning to end, like, 3 or 4 times that year. Even now, when I'm in need of a comfort watch of some kind, I will plop down and put on a random episode. (The number of times I have watched 6x22's Blue Bird is...obsessive.) Not only is the whole Red John plot suspenseful and engaging but the show itself is the perfect mix of witty, emotional, and moving; the characters are great; and the slow-burn ships (namely Jisbon) are everything.
ANYWAY.
Favorite Mentalist characters:
Patrick Jane
Teresa Liisbon
Kimball Cho
Unpopular opinions:
Not sure if this is unpopular exactly, but I always wished that they would have done more with Tommy Volker's character. He and Lisbon had a vibe, you know? He was always borderline hitting on her, trying to seduce her with his slimy arrogance, and I don't know, I guess I thought the writers would have done more with that. Every time I watch their scenes, I can't help but think about how he gives me creepy/possessive vibes. He definitely strikes me as the type of man who would want her for himself, especially because she wasn't interested at all and was always rejecting him, and I think they missed the boat with that. Even when I rewatch now, I'm still half-expecting him to kidnap her at some point during his multi-episode arc because I think it would've made sense for his character as well as would've fit into the plot.
I wish they would've explored The Blake Association more after they caught Red John. I think they could've flushed out that subplot into s7. I have a hard time believing they could have ferreted out all the law enforcement individuals who were involved simply by catching Red John, but that's just me.
Favorite season:
3 or 4, I think. Can't choose lol. (s7 is great because of all the Jisbon couple moments, though. I somehow still can't believe we were lucky enough to get a whole season of them being domestic and adorable)
Least favorite season:
I'm not sure I have one, tbh. I pretty much love the show from start to finish
Favorite Jisbon moments:
The short answer is ALL OF THEM lmao but there are some particular ones that stand out. (These are in no particular order)
When they slow dance to "More than Words" in s2
Pretty much the entirety of 6x22's Blue Bird but especially, especially, his plane declaration and the kiss scene when he's in holding
When Lisbon comes down the stairs in that dress he got her in Blue Bird and they make eye contact--you know, before everything goes to hell
Jane's proposal - the symbolism of his ring! My heartttt!
When Lisbon gifts him his glued-back-together teacup
When he blurts out "love you" before fake!shooting her in s4 - I literally scream every time I watch it because it's just this subconscious admission he can't hold in anymore
This moment because it's so soft:
Tumblr media
When Jane temporarily loses his eyesight and wants to know what Lisbon's face feels like when she's smiling 🥺
The freaking series finale - not only the wedding but their last scene together *radiates with happiness*
When they're reunited after Jane's 2-year on-the-run stint in Mexico and she gifts him socks, which he treasures, wearing them from then on because he's a sentimental besotted fool
This scene, because he tells her how much she means to him even though he leaves her there so he can expose Red John on his own, wanting to keep her safe
Tumblr media
That flirty moment on the bench when he tells her she "looks great in that hat"
When they do the fall/catch trust exercise
How closely they walk in general - I mean, they're almost always shoulder-to-shoulder and sometimes you can't tell if they're holding hands or not - these two know no personal space
I'm probably missing a bunch of other moments that I love but this a pretty solid list!

OTP Tag Game
I really needed a distraction today and I saw some other people doing this game and it looked fun. I won't tag people because it's long but please do it and tag me if you want! Rules: pick your 10 favorite ships (can be in random order) and then answer the questions. Choose ships before reading the questions! 1. Romanogers - Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanoff (MCU) 2. Huntingbird - Bobbi Morse/Lance Hunter (Agents of Shield) 3. Seeley Booth/Temperance Brennan (Bones) 4. Keenler - Elizabeth Keen/Donald Ressler (The Blacklist) 5. Olicity - Oliver Queen/Felicity Smoak (Arrow) 6. Jisbon - Theresa Lisbon/Patrick Jane (The Mentalist) 7. Percabeth - Percy Jackson/Annabeth Chase (PJO) 8. Hodgela - Angela Montenegro/Jack Hodgins (Bones) 9. Thea Queen/Roy Harper (Arrow) 10. Dousy - Daisy Johnson/Daniel Sousa (Agents of Shield)
1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 6? Technically I shipped Jisbon before watching the show because my best friend watched it and would recount the angst of them still not being together to me every week on our walk to school. I think the first episode I watched was actually the first episode they kissed and I was in love but I didn't actually watch the show for many years. But yeah, I shipped them the entire time I was watching the show. I really fell in love with their dynamic though around season 3 or 4. 2. Have you ever read a fanfic about 2? Uh Yes. A lot 😅 I've also wrote several Huntingbird fics. @bobbiamorse is my favorite Huntingbird author so everyone should check out their fics! 3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/Tumblr screen saver? No, but to be fair I never have couples as my profile pic or anything. If I had a Blacklist specific blog though, Elizabeth Keen would definitely be my profile pic and Keenler might be my banner 4. If 7 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be? I would be devastated. Rick Riordan put them (and me) through way too much pain for them to not get a happy ending. No. I refuse to believe that Percabeth isn't endgame. 5. Why is 1 so important? Because they are perfect. Their relationship was underrated but their chemistry was off the charts. They may have never got together in the movies but every single scene they had together was impactful. CAtWS was a phenomenal movie, "I didn't want you to be alone", the 2 years on the run, the 5 years after the snap, "see you in a minute", Steve saying they were her family. All of these moments (and many more) were so small but packed a huge punch. I know people liked their friendship but they literally embodied everything I love in a good OTP. Natasha is also one of the most underrated MCU heroes despite being one of the original 6 Avengers. And Steve Rogers/Captain America is the hero I strive to be. We have similar personalities and he's probably my second fav hero after Nat. So the pair together just meant a lot to me and I love them
6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship? Roy and Thea are a serious ship and didn't get the love they deserved! I know they were both background characters but in general, I think the writers dropped the ball a lot when it came to their potential. The one later season episode where Roy came back was like a balm for my shipper heart and I will stand by that they eventually found each other again and got back together. 7. Out of all of the ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry? That’s. This one is tough. Top 3 is definitely Olicity, Dousy, and Romanogers. All 3 of these, I started shipping almost instantly which I think speaks to chemistry. Dousy had less than 10 episodes between meeting and getting together and yet it was one of the most authentic relationships on the show in my opinion. The relationship was shocking but so perfect and natural. Plus, seeing Daisy happy was exactly what I needed from the last season. Romanogers I already discussed but yeah, I think they have a lot of chemistry because every interaction had so much emotional meaning to it. Olicity has to make the list though because they were the first ship I fell in love with purely through a mutual's tumblr posts. Long before I watched the show, I shipped Olicity because every gif made of them (before they were even together in the show) had them displaying so much love for each other. Even the writer's acknowledged that their chemistry is the only reason Felicity became a regular cast member instead of a rare background character. 8. Out of all your ships listed, which ship has the strongest bond? I feel like almost all of them have incredibly strong bonds forged by years of friendship and partnership in highly dangerous scenarios. But for this question, I will say Booth/Brennan, Keenler, and Jisbon have the strongest bonds considering it took 6-8 seasons of them being FBI partners before they finally admitted their feelings. They all exhibit unwavering trust in their partner and a willingness to do almost anything for their protection. Their bond goes far deeper than their romance. (And I totally could have also thrown Romanogers in here but I've said my thoughts on them) 9. How many times have you read/watched 10s fandom? I don't even know how many times I've watched AoS at this point 😂 At least 3ish full rounds and several partial rounds. But I've only watched season 7 twice. 10. Which ship has lasted the longest? I think that award has to go to Angela/Hodgins and Booth/Brennan although they have the unfair advantage of having 12 seasons lol. Angela and Hodgins technically have a season on Booth/Brennan but considering they got less focus, I'm saying their equal. 11. How many times, if ever, has 6 broken up? 0 unless you count Jane running away in a panic them breaking up but I don't really consider that since they were married a few episodes later. 12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 2 or 8? Almost definitely Bobbi and Hunter. As much as I love Angela and Hodgins, Bobbi and Hunter are trained spies and have seen a lot of weird crap. 13. Did 7 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason? Did they hide their feelings from themselves? Yes. Hide their relationship from others? No. They kissed and got thrown in a lake for the best underwater kiss ever. 14. Is 4 still together? This question is rude and I take personal offense to it. 😭😭😭 Listen, Keenler is together in my heart but unfortunately, the writer's are cruel, evil people who wanted to make fans hate their show by killing off the main character. I have refused to watch the current season because of this. #ElizabethKeenDeservedBetter 15. Is 10 canon? Yup! Only two ships on this list aren't canon but luckily, Dousy is one of them and they are kicking butt in space on the SWORD team 16. If all 10 ships were out into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win? This is way too hard considering most of them are some type of superhero/spy/FBI agent. I would guess that Romanogers, Huntingbird, and
Percabeth would make it the longest but who would win among them is totally up in the air. 17. Has anybody ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship? Um yeah, Oliver and Felicity 😂 Like yes others tried to use the other for pain purposes but no one was better at sabotaging their relationship as themselves. See Seasons 3, 4, 5 and bits of others for prime examples. 18. Which ship would you defend to the death and beyond? ALL OF THEM! There is not one ship on this list that I don't firmly believe belong together and were good for each other. I wouldn't consider them OTPs if I wasn't ready to go to battle for them 19. Do you spend hours a day going through 3’s Tumblr page? From time to time, yes. Unfortunately, Bones has not been airing new eps since 2017 so their isn't new (canon) content to fill my soul but Bones is my comfort show so whenever I need a pick me up, I will go through the tag. 20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of ten ships to break up forever or else she’d break them all forever, which ship would you sink? Unfortunately probably Thea/Roy. I think technically they weren't even back together when the show ended. Which means they've already been apart for years so as much as my shipper heart loves to believe that Thea went back for Roy like people suggested, I would be okay with that never happening if it meant my other ships got their happy endings (which several did not. grrr)
This was extremely fun and just the distraction I needed. I told myself I wouldn't let this get too long but with 20 questions, it was kind of unavoidable.

Prologue
File folder lands with an inaudible plop drawing your eyes from the computer screen to pages scattered across the wide expanse of your already cluttered desk. Traveling upward, brow cocked with a half smile on your mauve painted lips, pausing to take in the set of Marcus’s shoulders. Arms tightly crossed over broad chest, “Something I can help you will Pike?”
“Got your go bag handy?” Countering with his own question left hip cocked out studying your confused drawn features. “Got a break in the Barnes case, seems he’s setting up shop in New York City,” one hand coming out to point towards the file. “Specially bought a block of brownstone houses, pictures in the files of what he’s turned them into. Son of a bitch thinks he can flaunt his stolen wealth right in front of our noses.”
Nabbing the file and thumbing through. Pausing with a small gasp the beautiful architecture drawing your eyes. “It looks Mediterranean but I’m not sure without a closer look,” glancing up to catch Marcus’s eye. Hard edge to the normally soft chocolate browns, “How’d you get this information? Especially the photo’s Marcus,” attention returning to glossy eight by ten. Fingers tracing the common ivy vines climbing up impossibly pink limestone walls, back down over the balcony with its pointed trefoil arch cut into the stone. You could only guess at the type of wood used to construct the balustrade of every balcony you could see. Clear turquoise water catching your eye tracing the mosaic of tile visible. Mentally calculating how much money the cost of renovating a brownstone costs, let alone a whole block.
Till a throat clears and you look up, heat raising over your plush form at getting caught drooling over the spectacular architecture. “Never finished your thought Y/N,” teasing smile tugging at his full lips. Enjoying the awe he see’s written over your beautiful face, a rarity in your line of work these days.
“Just that,” swallowing you look back at the file in your hand. Flipping through the photo’s pausing once again. Eyes damn near bugging out of your skull when they land on those cerulean blue’s you long since pushed into the back of your memory. Praying Marcus didn’t catch your slip, “We could actually nail him this time and hopefully get back all the stolen art.”
Nodding Marcus sensed you holding back, having seen the flicker pass over those deep orbs he’s tried many times to forget during the dark of night. “There’s more,” bottom lip worried between his teeth while watching your expression flip from neutral too curious in a matter of seconds.
“Don’t leave me on pins and needles Marcus out with it,” clutching the file to your ample chest not sure if you’ll like his next words. Running a hand through his perfectly kept dark brown locks noticing he’s tugging slightly. A nervous habit you figured out about three weeks into the partnership. Same hand lands on the back of his neck rubbing tension away. Another tell which has your gut twisting, “Spit it out Pike I’m not getting any younger.” Trying to make light of the matter to put you both at ease.
“How would you feel about taking a little trip to New York City Mrs. Rossi?” Seeing the array of emotions cross your face from confusion, to thinking and understanding little gasp accompanying the revelation. He’d find the display endearing if your facial features hadn’t settled into one of uncertainty. “Don’t do that Y/N you’re the finest agent I’ve ever worked with, don’t doubt yourself.”
“It’s not,” pulling your bottom lip between indenting upper teeth trying to figure out how to ask. Going for blunt, “Who’s my partner? Please tell me it’s not Miller or Morales, there’s no getting along with either of them. We’d blow our cover…”
“You’re looking at him,” words cut across your babble stopping the flow of words with a gapping of you jaw. “We gonna have problems already wife?” Infusing his tone with a playfulness not felt as his thought run an iron man triathlon through his mind.
Even since the file dropped on his desk half an hour ago Marcus knew there’s only one person who could help him pull the mission off without issues and actually bring James ‘Bucky’ Barnes to justice. Only true concern brushing against his better judgement? His feelings kept buried under duty, and honor. The job always coming first, and the fact you’re his partner. Bringing this high class thief to justice could also destroy the friendship he’s built over the last five years with you. Or… slight shake of his head to push those thoughts firmly away. Needing to focus on catching Barnes and nothing more.

Pedro Pascal is flying high on The Mandalorian, but defining success by his earthly bonds
The Wonder Woman 1984 and The Mandalorian star is one of EW's Entertainers of the Year.
Tumblr media
Human connection. It’s vital. Especially in a year like 2020. Especially for Pedro Pascal. So it’s ironic that the 45-year-old’s highest-profile success to date is working with an adorable animatronic puppet, inside a chrome helmet he famously can’t take off. "It is why I wanted to do this show. Selfishly, I knew [the Child, a.k.a. Baby Yoda] was likely to make people fall in love with the show," says Pascal of tackling the title role on The Mandalorian, the Emmy-nominated hit Star Wars series, which returned for its second season on Disney+ in October.
The Chilean-American actor has an eye for choosing projects where he’ll stand out, from popular network procedurals including The Good Wife, The Mentalist, and Law & Order to his breakout roles as the charming — and horny — Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones and, soon after, DEA agent Javier Peña on Netflix’s Narcos. But it’s the stoic bounty hunter safeguarding a frog-egg-eating 50-year-old toddler that’s made him a household name. The new season of The Mandalorian followed Pascal’s galaxy-traveling warrior as he searched for the home of the Child, generating countless memes in the process.
Playing the Mandalorian has been one of the hardest and most unique experiences of Pascal's career to date. At this point, it's no secret that he wasn't physically under the helmet as much as he would've liked in season 1 and recorded his dialogue in post-production to match what his doubles, stunt actors Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder, did on set in the armor. Giving a largely vocal performance was a challenge for a physical actor like Pascal, who is almost unrecognizable when you compare his turns on The Good Wife and Game of Thrones, for example, because of how he carries himself. Yet, being on set way more in The Mandalorian season 2 didn't make his job any easier because he still had to figure how to make Mando compelling while also being as economical as possible in his physical movements and vocal performance.
"I'm not even sure if I would be able to do it if it weren't for the amount of direct experience that I've had with being on stage to understand how to posture yourself, how to physically frame yourself into something and to tell a story with a gesture, with a stance, or with very, very specific vocal intonation," says Pascal, who believes his collaborative relationship with creator Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni, a.k.a. his "Mandalorian papas," also helped him inhabit the role in season 2.
Speaking of collaboration: Working with comedian Amy Sedaris, who plays gruff Tatooine mechanic Peli Motto, was one of the highlights of The Mandalorian’s sophomore season. “I followed Amy Sedaris around like a puppy. [I was] like, ‘Hey again. I’m not leaving your side until you wrap,’ and she’s like, ‘Cool,’” Pascal says. “I love the Child — it really is adorable — and it is so fascinating to see it work, but somebody who makes you spit-laugh right into your helmet will always be my favorite thing."
Pascal longed for those kinds of interactions during quarantine, which proved difficult for the actor who was living alone in Los Angeles. But he lights up, is even giddy at times, when the conversation turns to bonding with the Community cast right before a charity table read back in May (he filled in for Walton Goggins), or FaceTiming his friends to celebrate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' election victory on Nov. 7. "Ahhhh! Ahhhh!" Pascal exclaims, reenacting the joyous calls with buddies like Oscar Isaac that Saturday morning. "It was screaming and jumping and dancing and crying…. I very arrogantly took screenshots of everything and [shared them], like, 'I am a part of this!'”
"I'd be less nervous playing tennis in front of the Obamas than I was seeing a reunion of these people that I think are brilliant and have this incredible chemistry with each other and stepping in and having really, really, bad technology in this new space that I had moved into. I really resented having to actually participate acting-wise because there were instances where it was way too much fun to watch."
- PEDRO PASCAL ON SHOOTING THE COMMUNITY TABLE READ.
His appreciation for those around him has only grown during the pandemic. Before flying to Budapest to film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent with Nicholas Cage, Pascal leaned on his bubble for support. Community's Gillian Jacobs, for example, hosted him for an outdoor socially distanced pizza night every Saturday in the early weeks of lockdown. (He suspects that's why he was recruited for the sitcom's table read when Goggins couldn't participate.) "The friends that got me through it are absolutely everything to me and very beautifully marked in my head. I've got old friends and new friends that literally did nothing short of parent me through the experience," says Pascal, who has "survivor's remorse" for being in Europe right now. "I feel guilty not being [in the States] with my friends through [this tumultuous time] but also grateful that, individually, I was able to gain a little bit of separation from the stress of it."
Tumblr media
Those tight bonds helped redefine, or at least clarify, what success means to him. "I want to make sure that my relationships are right, and I want to make sure I'm nurturing meaning in a sustaining way, and that won't necessarily be related to getting good jobs and making lots of money," he says. But he'll take them — as he did for both of his 2020 projects, about which he's thrilled. And how could he not be, starring in two of the year's most feverishly anticipated properties?
Besides The Mandalorian, Pascal appears in Patty Jenkins' superhero epic Wonder Woman 1984, which has endured a Homeric journey to its release (read: several pandemic-related delays). Thankfully, the odyssey is almost over because Warner Bros. recently confirmed that it will open in both theaters and on HBO Max on Dec. 25. Pascal is stoked audiences will finally see his turn as the villainous Maxwell Lord because playing the greedy dream-seller pushed him out of his post-Game of Thrones action role comfort zone.
"With Wonder Woman, [Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig] are doing the action, baby, and I'm doing the schm-acting!" he says, hilariously elongating that final syllable. "I am hamming it up!" (Indeed, Pascal reveals Cage inspired his performance in one particular scene.)
Tumblr media
But Pascal felt he was up to the challenge because everything he needed was right there in the screenplay, which Jenkins co-wrote with Geoff Johns and David Callaham. "I didn't have to take something and figure out how to put more flesh onto it. I had to achieve getting into the skin of what was being presented to me," he says, contrasting the experience with playing a DEA agent for three seasons on Narcos. "For me, Colombia was almost the central character, and then I was allowed to make him depressive and to tonally interpret what the character was. And in this case [on Wonder Woman 1984], there was just so much for me to meet rather than to invent."
He continues: "That was an incredible delight and challenge because Patty Jenkins is a director who loves actors and when she sees she can ask for more, she does. And there isn't anyone better, in my experience, to give more to."
In 2021, he rejoins the good guys as an aging superhero and father in Robert Rodriguez's kid-friendly Netflix drama We Can Be Heroes. The inherent optimism of the Netflix film's title also complements Pascal's hope for the new year. Says Pascal, ”If [fear] can take a little bit of a backseat and not be the main character in everybody’s life, that would be great.”

Faithie’s Tag You’re It Corner:
Get To Know Me:
Thank you for the tag @supernaturalgirl20 🥰 my first real tag. Nobody ever really tags me in much…
Rules: Tag a few people you want to know better; make a new post, don’t reblog!
If you have anything else to ask me after this go right ahead! I’d love to answer your questions!
Favourite colour: Blue 💙 my second is 🧡
Currently Reading: Well I am a very sporadic reader, when I do read I’m reading two or more books at a time all while listening to the sound tracks (if they have movies connected to them) of those said books as I do read… the two books I’m working my way though for the millionth time right now would be The Magic Mountain and Maze Runner. I am also getting ready to start American Assassin again as well. Oh and of course my daily fan fiction. My phone is always open on a fan fiction if am not working on my own fic work.
Last Series: I’m currently watching two things at the moment. I am currently watching Moon Knight and The Mentalist (I’m slowly working my way though all of Pedro Pascal’s work 😉). But what I watch Varys everyday… I watch a lot of T.V. And Movies…
Sweet, Spicy or Savory: Most of the time sweet, but I do have odd times where I crave something spicy or savory. I mostly chose sweet or savory though. Spicy is only there far and wide.
Coffee or Tea: Neither if I had to choose a hot drink I’d probably go for hot chocolate, but I also do VERY occasionally like my tea. It also depends on what tea it actually is. I love the smell of coffee, but HATE the taste unless sometimes it’s in a cold brew even then most of the time it’s a no.
Three Ships: well I have a lot. I have real world and fictional. Three real world ones would be 1. My mamma and dad 2. Cole and Sav Labrant and 3. Jeremy and Carolyn Shada and for my fictional I’d say 1. Cinderella and Prince Charming (a classic…) 2. Lady and The Tramp (another classic…) and 3. Danny and Lindsay Messer. There’s definitely so many more where those came from…
First Ship Ever: Either my Mamma and Dad or Anakin and Padme Skywalker or Danny and Lindsay Messer not really sure which one came 100% first.
Currently Working On: hmmm 🤔 idk there’s way too many to name 😂. Y’all can just go take a look at my upcoming works page on my writing page @fandomgirlz01
Fave Piece Of Clothing: not really sure… I really love my 50s/40s styled dress (it’s kinda in between the two styles…) that I wore for my graduation and all of my graphic tees. I also really love my Faith like a Mustard Seed shirt… idk though. I’m not really sure I have a “favorite” though. I’m the kind of person whose favorites are almost always changing except for the very few ones like favorite color etc…
Comfort Food: Umm idk I’m more of a snacker. I snack all day then when it comes to actual meal times I don’t normally eat all my food unless I didn’t eat all day at all, but I do really love my mamma’s tuna casserole and could eat a whole pan of that. Idk if that counts though. I do really love McDonald’s and will eat that at every chance I get so I guess McDonald’s is my “Comfort food”.
Fave Time Of Year: Again this is always changing, but I mainly find myself liking like in between spring and summer… ya know when you wake up in the morning and it’s just nice outside then slowly though out the day it progresses into warmer wether… I absolutely love those days they just seem… peaceful.
Fave Fan Fiction: Umm I pretty much like everything, but I am an absolute sucker for anything angst to fluff or like besties to lovers or when the guys is absolutely protective of the girl or when one character saves the other. Idk if y’all would like y’all can look though my other page @reblogingqueen for more insight to what I usually read.
Tagging: No Pressure

What’s in a Name?
A/N: This is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever written in my entire life. But it’s soft. Because Marcus Pike is soft and deserves all the love. Granted, I’ve only watched The Mentalist all the way through once, so...do with that what you will.
Pairing: Marcus Pike x F!Reader (no y/n)
Rating: PG for mention of guns??? I just want to be on the safe side. Idiots in love. Falling in love with someone and not knowing their name. Cliche use of a Quote from Romeo + Juliet.
Word Count: 3.3k
Summary: The five times Marcus Pike tries to learn your name and the one time he actually does.
Tumblr media
Pike was unlucky in love. He knew it. He had started to accept it when things fell apart with Lisbon. His friends and fellow agents, the assholes, actually took pity on him and said he’d find the right person eventually. He just didn’t anticipate having to meet her over and over again.
... that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet... (Romeo + Juliet)
Sometimes, every once in a while, he actually hated his job. Sure, he got to go undercover, stop criminals, right some wrongs, and be called ‘agent’ on top of it. But, right now, listening to some sycophant rant and rave about the “superiority of Cubism over Dadaism,” he wanted to switch careers. There was supposed to be a sale of a stolen Cézanne happening at this gallery in Los Angeles and Pike had suspected the guy with the too-tight three piece suit and bad transatlantic accent was the ring-leader of the whole theft and re-sale. He just needed to not spork his eyes out until he saw money pass hands from the agent he’d sent in to pose as the buyer and the thief-turned-art-asshole. He thought it would only take an hour or two, busts like this usually did—but this guy loved the sound of his own voice so much that he had been going on a tangent about 20th century art movements for nearly four hours now and had somehow gathered a bit of an audience, too, debating with others, and the like. It was exhausting just listening to him.
“If you give me ten dollars, I’ll spill some red wine on his shirt and he’ll be forced to leave.”
Marcus looked to the left at the sudden voice and found a woman pretending to look at the piece in front of him, just like he had been doing. She was pretty, dressed in a high-end dress and sky-high, red-bottom heels, and looked every bit the part of an old money socialite. “Ten dollars?”
“I’d do it for free, but I need to receive some sort of incentive so I’m not just doing it out of spite. I heard that’s bad karma.” She hid her smirk behind the lip of her champagne flute.
“I’ve heard spite is a fantastic motivator.”
She hummed and squinted at the painting as if she cared. Maybe she did. “This is an awful piece of work. Truly, one of the worst I’ve ever seen.”
The man behind them continued to talk just as a waiter passed by with a platter full of red wine and she skillfully plucked one from him without missing a beat. She finished her champagne and handed Pike her empty flute. His eyebrows raised as she smiled at him.
“I’m Marcus.” He held out a hand for her to take. She shook it with a smile but didn’t give her name in return. She winked and walked away—right toward the mark.
And yes, she dumped red wine all over him.
There was a collective gasp and he watched the scene with a muted sort of fascination as she then managed to make the art thief smile with some joke she must have said and then he walked away to clean up. The crowd dispersed. The other agent was able to snag the thief and make the exchange and handcuffs were placed on his wrists all within a couple of minutes.
Maybe he should have actually paid her the ten dollars. She really did just speed everything up.
But, when he looked around to find her, she was gone.
                                                            **
The second time he met her was at an art auction in D.C. There was no sting. No operation. The Art Squad had recently helped the auction’s sponsor recover a priceless Van Gogh piece and they had insisted the entire Squad come to the black tie dinner and auction, foregoing the 1000-dollar-charge-per-plate the ticket usually cost. The food was good. The wine and champagne was obviously expensive and Pike was sure he’d see some of the art that was being auctioned off in his case files in the next few years. That was just the way of the world. He looked around at the displays and glanced at the sheets where people had written down their bids. Some people were being generous—most others were being cheap.
He slowed to a stop in front of a small Dalí and then down at the auction sheet. It was currently up to only a few hundred dollars. He wouldn’t win, he was sure, but he could pretend to participate in this ridiculous auction.
“I didn’t take you for a Dalí fan.” Her voice was still smooth and he knew, instinctively, that she was smiling before he even turned to look at her. She was draped in sky blue silk and pearls, reminding him of Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.
“I think he’s iconic, to be sure.”
She sidled up to him and looked at the small painting. “Thinking about bidding? It looks like everyone else is besotted with that original Warhol.” She hooked a thumb over her shoulder to reference the crowd steadily growing on the other side of the ballroom.
But all he could focus on was the smell was her perfume. Expensive and floral, it seemed to fit her perfectly.
Manicured fingers handed him a Mont Blanc pen from the depths of her designer bag. “Best of luck, Agent Pike.”
As she walked away, he realized she knew his last name now—somehow—and he still didn’t know hers.
Pike tried to find her again in the mess of rich people, to ask her name and how she knew of his ‘agent’ status and last name. But all he managed to do was catch a glimpse of blue silk as she exited the venue.
“Do you know her?” A tired-looking man asked as he walked to Pike’s side. “She left a large donation and my boss will kill me if we don’t have a name to write in our next list of donors.”
“I…I don’t actually. Did she bid on anything? Maybe we could get her name that way.”
And for the next fifteen minutes or so, he filtered through the crowd, trying to ask inconspicuously about his Venus and if she had bid on anything. And, when he finally learned that she had bid on an Alphonse Mucha sketch. And he almost felt lucky. Almost!
Because, as he made his way over to where everyone was pointing, he saw only two scribbles on the sheet. Surely he could discern which one of the names was hers.
One was Richard…
And the other one was just a scribble of blue ink, smudged beyond legibility.
                                                         **
(A few weeks later, he was delivered a package at his office. Inside was the Dalí he had bid on. On a slip of paper was a smudged smiley face and the word: Enjoy!)
                                                        **
The third time he met her was decidedly less glamorous. The Art Squad had been trailing a group of thieves across the East Coast when they finally caught up to them in Boston. Pike had hoped they’d be able to catch them in the act and be done with it.
Instead, what they found when they stormed into the art museum, was the thieves holding several hostages. And, of course with his luck, she was among them.
Her hands were behind her head and she was on her knees as one of the thieves pointed a gun to the back of her head. Boredom was, surprisingly, coloring her face but she smiled when she caught sight of Pike. “Hi, Marcus.”
“Hi,” he said in return, fighting a smile of his own.
The whole thing was over in just over an hour and the hostages were released and the thieves were carted off in the back of a police van.
And maybe now he’d finally learn her name.
He was the lead agent on the case so he had to answer a million and one questions from other agents, from outside law enforcement, from the press. And, belatedly, he watched his least favorite agent, Rhett Brown, approach his unnamed Venus. The agent was fine when given a gun and told to shoot—but how he’d managed to wind up on the Art Squad was a mystery. He’d lost or misfiled more paperwork than anyone else Pike had encountered put together.
Pike knew he needed to finish all of this nonsense—and really, he shouldn’t call it nonsense, this was important—if he wanted to even have a chance to get her name. But the local police asked a lot of questions (they were doing their job, he couldn’t blame them) and then the press conference dragged on (again, they were just doing their jobs). And by the time he finished, he jogged back to where the former hostages had been held as they were being questioned.
And, of course, she was gone.
Pike pulled Rhett aside and asked for his notes.
Rhett nodded and stuck his hand into his suit pocket and then froze. “Oh no.” He quickly patted down his other pockets and shouted at another agent, “have you seen my notepad, man?”
                                                            **
Pike was tired when he met her for the fourth time.
The deposition had lasted longer than he anticipated, stretching long into the night. The case was a strange one, involving inheritances, forged wills, and a “disappeared” Jackson Pollock that “reappeared” across the country. The hotel was nice, however, and he slumped into a stool at the hotel’s upscale bar and ordered a pale ale.
It was set in front of him quickly and he drained half of it without much fanfare.
“I always thought you looked more like a whiskey kind of guy.”
He nearly spat out his drink.
She slid into the stool next to him and ordered a top shelf cognac. Her lips were painted a vibrant shade of red and left a mark against the glass as she took a sip of the amber liquid. “Long day?”
“You could say that. You?”
She nodded with a small smile. “What’re you doing in New York? More FBI business?”
“Something like that.” He took another drink of his beer and she watched him over the edge of her own glass. “How’d you know I was in the FBI?”
“We have friends in common. I know Charlie—you helped him get back his precious Van Gogh.”
“Ah, Charlie.” He nodded in understanding.
“Yes, he went on and on about the FBI agent who saved his marriage—imagine that, an entire marriage hanging on the edge of one painting.” Despite cognac being meant for sipping, she had already nearly drained her glass. “Imagine my surprise when it was you—the man from the gallery opening who basically gave me full permission to dump wine on a pompous asshole.” She watched him laugh as she took another sip of the dark amber liquid. “Charlie pointed you out when you came to the auction. The man can hardly remember his children’s names but he remembers yours.” She smiled and he could have sworn he’d never seen anyone so beautiful. “But I like the um…” she gestured at his chin and then placed her finger beneath her nose in a childish imitation of a mustache. “It’s a good look.”
He laughed—she was good at making him laugh. “I was undercover.”
“Oh?” It came out with another laugh. “Aren’t you mysterious?”
“I’m mysterious? You know my name and my job—and that I think Dalí is iconic. I know nothing about you.”
“What is there to know? I procure art for people who have too much money. I spend more time on planes or in hotels than I do in my little apartment in New Orleans. I like Humphrey Bogart movies and a good blanket.” She smiled before polishing off the last dredges of her drink. “See? Now you know more about me than I do about you. And it is all far less interesting.”
His heart had lodged itself higher and higher into his throat as each word passed her lips. “No…I-I think you’re really interesting and beautiful and I…I would love to know more.”
She was embarrassed, he could tell, but she still smiled. Her mouth opened to say something else and-
-a bellhop stepped to her side. “Your bags have been loaded into the car, ma’am.”
She turned and thanked him, pressing a few bills into his hand before she stood and grabbed her purse. She put a few more bills—far more than her drink could have possibly cost—onto the bar top and signaled to the bartender that she was paying for both their drinks before he could even think to stop her. “Thanks for the company.”
“Yeah. Of course.” He was in a bit of a daze as she leaned down to press a quick kiss to his cheek. The familiar scent of her expensive perfume touched his nose as she pulled back.
“I’ll see you around, Agent Pike. But really,” she once again mimed the mustache, “it’s a good look.”
He murmured his goodbye, head still pleasantly swimming, and watched her walk away.
It took him a full five minutes to realize he still didn’t know her name.
                                                     **
The fifth time he met her, he’d been stuck at O’Hare International Airport for five hours. Five hours in the worst airport known to mankind. His flight back to DC had been delayed and then delayed some more and then delayed some more. He’d only been in Chicago for a few days to help lead some training to the local arm of the Bureau. Nothing exciting. And now he was stuck waffling between two equally awful airport restaurants for dinner while he continued to wait.
“Hey stranger.”
He turned to see her walking toward him, a designer carryon being wheeled behind her scuffed sneakers. Her hair was up in a lop-sided bun and she had traded her dress for a pair of jeans and an oversized band t-shirt. And why was his mouth filling with saliva? She threw her arms around him in a hug that he quickly reciprocated, squeezing her around the middle as she laughed lightly in his ear. “It’s good to see you. I see you kept the facial hair.”
He laughed and scrubbed a hand over his patchy beard and mustache. “Yeah, I guess I did.” Pike cleared his throat, trying to not sound so smitten. “Where’re you heading now?”
“Home, thankfully. I’ve been go-go-go since I saw you last. It seems everyone wants to give works of art as presents this year. I’m kind of scared what Christmas is going to mean.”
He smiled, liking to know about her life, how she felt. “Been anywhere exciting?”
“Paris and Milan lose their charm after a while. But I finally got to go to Casablanca.” There was a near twinkle in her eye now. “I felt like I should’ve been running around in a trench and fedora, chain-smoking. God knows how many times I muttered ‘here’s lookin’ at you kid’ to myself like a loon.” She shook her head as she bit her lip. “Sorry. I ramble when I’m jetlagged.”
“It’s okay, really. I…I like it.”
She shoved at his shoulder with another laugh. “Careful. You’ll make me fall in love with you.”
“Would that be so bad?” The words tumbled out of his mouth before he could stop them—something he usually did when he let his stupid, romantic heart take the lead.
She tilted her head as she looked at him with an almost shy smile playing on her lips. “No. No, I don’t think that’d be bad at all.” They looked at each other, each fighting a smile and stupid fluttering of their hearts for the near-stranger in front of them. She broke the little daydream by clearing her throat and glancing away for a moment. “And you? Been anywhere exciting?”
“Just Chicago. Had to lead some training. My flight’s been delayed for a couple hours. Hopefully, I’ll be out of here before midnight.”
“Well, if you’re looking for a good place to eat in this hellscape, I’d recommend the restaurant near C26. I’ve yet to get food poisoning from them—and the food’s pretty good, too.”
“You want to join me?” He asked, something optimistic blooming in his chest.
But her smile fell. “I wish I could. But my flight starts boarding soon.”
As if on cue, there was an announcement over the intercom. “Hello passengers and welcome to Flight 306 to New Orleans. Right now, we will start boarding with our group one passengers and active duty military in uniform.”
“That’s me,” she said with a sigh. “But it was good to see you, Marcus.” She reached out and squeezed his hand.
He squeezed her hand for a moment, keeping her still. “You know, I still don’t know your name.”
She paused and then laughed, a full-belly laugh that quickly had him laughing, too. “It’s-”
A passenger cart beeped as it zoomed by, carrying a few elderly women.
“Group one, you’re free to board. Group one,” the announcement seemed to echo in the terminal, overly loud on the old speakers.
He swore he saw her lips move. He did!
But then she was squeezing his fingers again and walking away.
                                                     **
The cherry blossoms were in bloom. Aside from the terrible crowds they brought and the overall mugginess that came with the season, it was one of the things he liked about living in DC. He was sitting on a bench and watching the wind blow through the trees, rustling the pink and white petals gently. His lunchbreak was ending soon and he’d have to get back to the office. The other agents had caught on about his “mysterious lady friend” when he’d finally arrived back from Chicago and had been ribbing him about it ever since. (“How did you not get her name already, Pike?!” A question for the ages.) He crumpled the wrapper from his sandwich and tossed it in the nearest bin, preparing to leave the park.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, just for a moment.
But when he opened them, she was standing in front of him like something out of his daydreams. She smiled at him before helping herself to the space beside him on the bench. “I was told you like this bench when the blossoms are in bloom.” She waggled her eyebrows. “Your fellow agents are very chatty, you know.”
“You came looking for me?”
“’Course. I was in town. The auction I need to attend isn’t until tonight and…yeah,” she trailed off, embarrassment coloring her tone as she looked away from him for a moment. “Yeah, I thought I’d see you.”
His smile was so big he was sure it was going to break his face. “I’m glad you did.” He reached out and curled his fingers around hers as they rested on the bench beside her legs.
Her smile was shy but she squeezed his fingers in return as she kept looking out over the cherry blossom trees. “It’s pretty here. I’d love to wake up and just see this.” She waved her free hand toward the blossoms.
“Well, it happens every year. You can come back.” Or you could stay, his traitorous, lovesick heart whispered. But no, he wouldn’t say that. No yet, at least. He could take this slow.
But then she kissed him, quick and soft—he nearly missed it. And she was quickly leaning back against the bench, trying to school her features into indifference.
“What is your name?” He asked, question bursting forward.
She guffawed and pulled her hand back with an exaggerated flourish, fighting another smile. “I told you at the airport!”
“There-there was a transport honking and-and an intercom and then you left-!”
She cupped his cheek in her hand and the words died in his throat. She smiled again, fighting a laugh, and whispered her name.
He whispered it back, rolling the letters across his tongue carefully, pressing it into his mind to keep and hold.
He liked her name.

Favorite Sherlock (BBC) Fics of 2019
Once again, my hopes of getting through some of the very tantalizing fics that finished up in December are simply not going to materialize anytime soon, so rather than delay any longer, here are my personal picks for the fics I enjoyed the most last year.
Disclaimers: This list is obviously skewed toward my own personal preferences and reading habits. There are plenty of other fics that I enjoyed, and even more that I simply didn’t get around to reading (yet), so it’s not a judgment if your favorite (or one you wrote) isn’t on here. Think of this as a sampling rather than a definitive list. I hope this will help you to re-acquaint yourself with fics you loved, give a chance to others you may have skipped the first time round, and possibly discover something entirely new and astonishing.
And now, in descending order of length:
Voyages of the Bakerstreet (528,359 words) by fresne Rating: Explicit Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, John Watson/OCs Summary: Starfleet never really intended to assemble a crew with a half trained doctor and an alpha Augment with authority issues. But they also didn't really intend for the Borg to make it quite as far as they did. And so...These are the Voyages of the USS Bakerstreet.
