I've opted to share from three fics- Suddenly in the Silence, Where All This Love Comes From, and Wrestling Angels:

Suddenly, in the Silence:

"I think the closet is haunted," TK says, fumbling the buttons of his lapelled pajama shirt. Carlos faces the opposite side of the room. "But it's from Ikea." "Not that one." TK throws an arm towards the white pre-fab nothingy unit that had housed their pajamas. "I mean the old Reyes relic." "My dad's tatarabuelo built that," Carlos says defensively. And occupies it now, TK thinks but does not say. Instead, he opts for, "It might be fun to sleep in your old bedroom like we did that time before. Snuggled up in that creaky twin with your adorable horse comforter over us." "My old room," Carlos breathes a laugh, "Is the most haunted in this house." "With memories, though, not ghosts."

Where All This Love Comes From

A single tear slips from Carlos' eye. Years ago, there was a young man in New York City called TK Strand and he had no idea that in Austin, Texas, a stranger called Carlos Reyes was aching, yearning, pining for exactly him. He had no idea how loved he was going to be by someone he had yet to meet. He had no idea how wonderful he was as a person with or without a partner – but he was about to find out. That's why you have to keep living, Carlos thinks, so you can find out.

But love is going to come into his life, and it won’t be what he’ll expect, because it’s going to be TK Strand, a firefighter who shows up in Austin from Manhattan following a relapse. He’s a little fierce and rough and moody and funny. He’ll bring disorder to the orderly life he’s about to work so hard to create for himself and himself alone. TK will cause him pain, and he’ll push TK’s buttons, and then it’s going to work out, and he’s going to marry him. And TK is going to be the one to ask. Love is going to be powerful, runaway, gutting, enormous – yet weirdly and utterly defined by the small moments as much as the major events. It’s going to feel physical and invisible, like storm winds that take his breath and knock him off his feet. He’s going to have sex. He’ll have it with a few guys before TK, and every time with each of those guys, it will be somewhere on a sliding scale of outright bad, awkward, embarrassing, mediocre, good, better, great, fantastic. With TK it will be different. Supercharged, mind-blowing, right from the start, and it will also be gentle, romantic, connective in a new way. It will always be a deeper experience than with anyone else. It’s going to mean something real every time, even from the beginning when TK insists that it’s not going to, and Carlos will pretend as much as he can that he doesn’t mind.

Buck and Eddie broke up on a Tuesday night, because of course they did. 

Buck had been on tour for six months at the time and turns out long distance relationships are way harder than they ever gave them credit for— not to mention the constant scrutiny and rumors they had to deal with. 

Honestly, Buck doesn't blame Eddie at all for finishing things off. Eddie was always too good to be true anyway, and he deserves better than whatever Buck could ever give him. Eddie deserves happiness and he deserves being worshiped and adored… and he deserves peace. Something Buck could never give him, no matter how much he wants to. 

Admittedly, the break up has been hard and he's been heartbroken since that video call— they couldn't even do it face to face, for God's sake— and he's been spiraling more than ever. The fans and the magazines and gossip sites have been speculating about the reason like crazy for months, even from way before Eddie actually broke up with him. (Buck can't help but to resent them a little bit for that.) but nothing prepared him for this. 

Standing at Eddie's doorstep, looking at the man face to face for the first time in what feels like an eternity— his big beautiful brown eyes shining with something like longing and regret and so many emotions that it takes every cell in Buck's body not to fall to his knees and beg for one more chance. 

"Hey, Buck." Eddie whispers, voice low and quiet and cautious. Buck feels like crying. 

"Hey, Eds." He swallows thickly.

what you said about maxiel fanfics with endgame lest4ppen, yes, I agree. someone mentioned this before, but maxiel is slowly dying on ao3 while it seems to be thriving more and more on tumblr.

for me it's 50/50 because I don't mind where I'm reading, but here we have more one-shots and pieces of WIPs (which is good because it means authors don't feel the pressure to turn everything into a 50k story, so they can just post their ideas even if it's incomplete), but I personally LOVE longer stories, so I would love to read more and more about every single one of them.

and personally I just don't like lest4ppen at all. I understand the need to tag maxiel because daniel is the bad guy and the "shitty boyfriend" or whatever, but I just don't like seeing those stories 😬

will always preface asks like this by saying people can like what they like and find joy in whatever, i ain't gunna turn my nose up at anyone or anything, lestappen just doesn't make sense to meeee personally, but honestly whatever butters ur bread!!!

as someone who has dabbled here and there in this writing lark, for me there is a distinct difference in ao3 posting and tumblr posting....ao3 to me is formal, ur presenting something perfect, a fully-fledged story, a beginning a middle and an end (not in all cases but i just mean in general). most stuff i read on ao3 is fully-fledged nuanced ideas that the author has obviously spent hours of time crafting and experimenting with.

tumblr fic is inherently fun and blase and easier to throw out there into the ether and forget about really. tumblr fic doesn't need to follow grammatical rules or structure etc etc....it can just be a fun prompt game response or a quick lil fic that you had fun writing and wanna share with ur people?? both have purposes and both are enjoyable to write imo, just depends on what ur feeling and how much u want to expand on said idea??

when it comes to the maxiel of it all....idk how rude or pointed i can get here without getting into shit....so i'll try and word this gently....you have to keep the eco-system alive....i think comments and kudos are GREAT but honestly, if someone reblogs my fic with a fun few tags, i love that more, because in a selfish way, i might get 1 or 2 more readers from that because its going out to an even wider audience?? but its more than that!! engage with ur writers, message them on here and shout at them about their ideas, send them prompts, recommend their fic to ur friends...but i will stand by i think one of the best things you can do, if they make a fun lil post or graphic for their fic...reblog it...ur not only spreading the maxiel gospel, but ur also supporting that writer?? too many times on here i see people's fic graphics flop yet big blogs are leaving them comments on ao3 and look, EACH TO THEIR OWN and also i can sometimes be a bad reblogger dont get me wrong, but LIKE, there are some wildly talented authors on here who just need to be pushed into the limelight a little bit more??? idk if im wording this correctly, but sometimes there are fics that fall through the cracks because no one engages with them, and if ur an author who has put blood sweat and tears into that fic, ur not exactly going to be motivated to post another maxiel fic if u dont think ur going to get engagement from it (again, fic writing isn't necessarily about engagement or response, but let me tell u when i get a fun little comment or someone messages me about a fic i published, it inspires me to write more????)

maxiel is definitely alive and kicking, i follow some stunningly good maxiel authors, but at the same time, its about pushing forward those smaller writers as well and not thinking ur too cool for them???????????????

and so with that, this flufftober, kinktober, spooktober or whatever tober u are a part of, reblog the fic, talk about the fic and enjoy the fic

hi anon, im glad you like the stuff i make ;w; !!! and ohhh, sure i got tons of tips for that!.....so many that i actually wish i cld get u back here to ask what specifically about starting a story u'd want tips on but for now, i'll go for a general overview :D!!

cuz....to me (i.e. based on my writing process, which i'll be drawing heavily from for these tips), the act of Starting comes in three distinct steps, one after the other:

Idea Generation (what is the story gonna be about and how do i get ideas for that?)

Concept Organization/Outlining (how is the story going to be about this idea and how will i be executing it?)

Creation (GAH, HOW PUT WORDS ON PAGE!?!?!?)

so i'll give general tips for all three!!!

Idea Generation Tips

(this is the step that i personally have the least trouble with because my brain makes 5 new ideas every day. it's kinda a curse now because it leads to me having too many wips and concepts and only 1% of them gets to the Creation period jhvjhVJKSHFVHJS BUT ANYHOO, TIPS-)

Check Out Prompt Lists (super fun and easy way to get an idea! theres tons of story and fic prompts out there that you can search up here on tumblr, some of them being lists of lines of dialog or lists of AUs or scenarios. even if you dont follow a prompt exactly, they can be great at kickstarting ur brain into thinking of something related that you Do wanna pursue)

Open/Ask For Prompt Requests (if ur brain doesnt have any ideas, u can ask around and see if anyone ELSE has ideas theyre alright with you writing! my tot fics "reviews for Time's Antiquities, South Stellis | Average Rating: 4.8 Stars" and "but little do we know, the stars welcome him with open arms" were both inspired by anon asks i got!! to those anons who sent those asks, i owe u my life....but yea, maybe other people can give ideas to you! or, again, give Something that can inspire another thing in ur brain to take shape)

Just Ramble With A Friend (SO MANY OF MY FIC IDEAS started because i was just goofing off and playing idea volleyball with fandom buddies in our DMs (shoutout to sam samsspambox, z lukevonhagen, and beck beckthebeetle for being the main culprits of this). like, what started out as a joke conversation eventually makes go "oh no wait i actually wanna see that as a fic" and then boom, Idea Has Been Acquired. but fr, talking with another person makes your brain create things u never thought about before. it's both tons of fun to chat with a buddy as a sounding board, and it yields awesome concepts for stories!)

For Fanfic Specifically, Think About What You Want To See In Canon But Hasn't Happened And You Want It So Bad It's Driving You NUTS (this can be anything from missing scenes you wish were expanded on, scenes you wish went a different way, character relationships you wish you could see more of in canon, go nuts! the fun thing with fanfic is that it's a fertile playground for all the what-ifs, and a lot of my fics' ideas were simply found because i thought "man i know tears of themis is never gonna show me deep found fam moments/artem ptsd consequences after main story 6.2/mariluke, so imma make it myself" JHVSJDHF. ideas are hard to make sometimes, but brains are so good at desiring things. and all those desires? those can also be Ideas for a fic!)

Concept Organization/Outlining

(very much skippable if your writing style/personality is more receptive to free-wheeling!! im just the type of writer who always needs an outline to begin something. it helps me structure a raw idea with no shape into something clearer that i can envision a story for)

Outline A Rough Chain Of Events Chronologically (this can be as simple as three bullet points, what happens at the Start of the story, the Middle, and the End. or maybe you can go list down the portions of your fic according to the Freytag's Pyramid Plot Structure: Exposition, Inciting Incident, Rising Action, etc etc.)

Outline A Rough List Of Stuff You Just Want To Happen In The Fic (if your brain is like mine and isnt too great at chronological thinking, make a list of just all the plot points and events or even dialog exchanges u Want to see in the fic. you can organize it in the order u want later once uve put everything down)

Outline The Themes (moving away from plot, many stories are more focused on feelings or characterization or themes. so make a list of the Concepts you want to tackle. this is something i do for my fics that are more introspective, so i outline shit like "EVENT THAT MAKES LUKE INTERNALIZE SELF-LOATHING followed by EVENT THAT MAKES LUKE'S VIEW BE NOTICED BY ANOTHER CHARACTER")

Creation

(the worst part of writing....is the writing JAVFJVSDKHFDJHJ but nah fr this is the part i have the hardest time with, so here are tips that help me kickstart the word engine)

You Dont Have To Start Writing The Fic From The Beginning Of Its Story, Start Writing Wherever (confession: a good 75% of my fics are ones where the first scene i actually wrote down was not the start. instead, i just wrote the scene i was most excited to write. and usually thats somewhere in the middle! i do this cuz it makes my brain happy, and a happy brain is much easier to pull words from than a sad brain. plus, when i see the scene I Like Best already written, it gives me motivation to do the rest of the fic because oh my god i want everybody to sEE THIS ONE DANG SCENE!!! start writing the fic at whatever point you want, in whatever order comes most naturally to you, is my point. you can fill the rest in later, but hey, starting to write where you Want has gotten you Started. now you just gotta finish, and finishing when you already have something down is much easier than starting from 0)

Set Tiny Wordcount Goals. And When I Say Tiny, I MEAN TINY!!! (writing is intimidating but if you set a goal of say, 100 words written for a wip per day, at the end of one week, you'll have 700 words. at the end of two, you'll have 1400 words. at the end of a month, 3000. small goals help since it makes you do Something, and that Something will inevitably compound, no matter what goal uve set. and let urself be proud of the goals uve achieved!!! writer brain gets happy when you tell it it's done a good job at reaching a wordcount goal, and like i said earlier, happy brain is much easier to work with than sad brain)

Give Yourself All The Time You Need (i know this sounds counterproductive but sometimes....the best thing you can do for the part of your brain that wants to start creating....is waiting til it's ready. dont pressure yourself, cuz brain will get sad. dont be too hard on yourself, cuz brain will get sad. start when you want to start in the way that works best with your brain and see where things go, but be patient with yourself. sometims Starting is actually the longest part of writing a story and thats fine. it will happen. trust)

inner monologues, because they jump around too much and i eventually stray from the original thought. or anything thats not closely tied to a character ... i'm really strong with character driver things but if you hand me a plot, i'm gonna struggle (which may be why the r&j au is failing LMAO) and how i said with dialogue, it ends up being dry and makes the scene move a little too fast. i'm really bad at slowing down scenes 😭

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

Okay. I know I've shit all over Rooftops & Bookshops, but I was able to picture so many of the scenes in that fic SO vividly and clearly, I think I would have to pick that for a film. Specifically, I'm thinking of the scene in the breakroom. That would just be SO funny. And also some of the writing things that bother me now wouldn't be an issue on screen lol

OR I would say You Hear His Voice Once and You Know It Again as a comic. There are so many parts that I think would make really amazing panels rhgruaghr if anyone wants to make fanart for it they are more than welcome to!!!

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?

Ballroom dancing, which is funny because I actually barely used the research lmao it was for Too Wise to Woo Peaceably

oh boy uhhh okay here's a teaser from the jaytimkon piece!

“He didn’t do anything wrong,” Kon explains, because he knows it’s true. “Are you upset?” Jason asks it like he knows the answer, which of course he does. He’s a bat.  “I guess.” “Did he say something that made you upset?”  “Yes, but—” “—Just because he wasn’t trying to hurt you doesn’t that mean he didn’t.” Kon looks up as Jason takes a bite of his bun, then breathes out a little through his teeth like it was still too hot.  “That doesn’t mean he should be shot?” Kon says hesitantly.  “Step two is empty threats, sweetheart. If I wanted to shoot him, I wouldn’t have to steal bullets from B.”  Kon’s cheeks burn.  Sweetheart. He’s heard Jason use endearments for Tim before, Darlin’ and Baby and Gorgeous and Pretty Boy, and seriously how did Tim think Kon didn’t know they were fucking—but he’s never heard sweetheart come out of Jason’s mouth. His stomach is fluttering, warmth radiating through him, and he wants to giggle in a totally manly and not at all school-girly way, wants to tuck a lock of hair behind his ear and— “Don’t shoot him,” Kon says, a smile creeping out for the first time since this morning. Jason grins back, and his smile is fucking gorgeous.

Tim shifted the groceries in his arms while they waited outside Barbara’s door, eyes flashing over as Jason reached up and tugged the helmet off. Tim forced his eyes back to the door.  “You have flour in your hair.”  “Hm?” Jason asked, tucking the helmet under his arm.  “From the helmet.”  Jason peeked inside the helmet, finding a small streak of flour across the inside. He made an irritated tut, trying to arrange his bag and the helmet so he could get a free hand. Tim sighed and turned to him, shifting the bag in his arms again. He reached up to do it himself, then stopped when Jason pulled back a little, eyes wide with surprise. Tim’s hand hovered in the air, and he raised an eyebrow, waiting for permission.  Jason sighed, then leaned back in.  “Go ahead.”  Tim finished reaching for the streak of white that didn’t belong. He ran his fingers through it, shaking them slightly so that the flour would come out.  Jason’s hair was softer than he thought it would be. Even though they were both still wearing their dominos, Tim could feel Jason’s eyes on him. He looked back, his hand slowing down. “Thanks,” Jason said, his voice was low and rough as it broke the silence, making something warm flare up in Tim’s gut.

i have too many wips/drafts/pieces of writing i never used anywhere. so im posting them bit by bit because why not. some will be more completed, and some will be unfinished, but i like pieces of writing in them, so im releasing them to the world.

Naomi was usually able to ignore the constant aching of her body. Their destination and her motivation made it easier to do so. If she reminded herself why she was doing this, it made it easier to endure the pain that came with each injection and to endure the strain of every single muscle in her body.

But something during that night cycle had brought a numbness with the aching that scared her.

She’d climbed up on their cabin, curled under the covers hoping the exhaustion would bring her sleep and not the thoughts that edged on the back of her consciousness.

Memories of a lifetime ago, that would serve nothing but further upset her.

Jim entered a while after, having to reply to some messages sent by Avasarala. She hadn’t asked for details, just let him know she was going to lie down.

“Thought you’d be asleep by now”, he said with a groan as he sat on the edge of their bunk and began undressing. First his mag boots and then his jumpsuit.

“Couldn’t sleep.” Naomi watched him, her head resting on her pillow and her eyes trailed on the muscles on his back as he took off his shirt.

He turned then towards her with a question in his eyes.

She smiled at how well he knew her. Once that’d have felt terrifying. It still did at times if she were honest. But it also brought her a comfort that'd been long gone. Even for something as simple as this.

She nodded, carefully sitting up without showing any of the intense discomfort her body felt. But he must have known she wasn't feeling all that well because he was already helping her pass the fabric over her head and through her arms.

If it were anyone else, Naomi would've found the gesture condescending. But when she looked at him he had a gentle smile that had his eye crinkling at the corners, all she felt was an overwhelming affection and couldn't stop herself from letting out a huff of air.

They settled into each other, as they did every night, Naomi with her head pillowed on Holden's shoulder and her arm thrown over his torso. And today even that effort felt exhausting.

“I gave birth on Ceres”, his hand that was stroking up and down her side stilled suddenly but she didn’t hear any comment. If she had to guess she’d assume he didn’t want to stop her from speaking at the rarity that was her opening up.

“Probably wouldn’t have made it anywhere else.” On Pallas, in one of the ships she used to make runs with, she didn’t stand a chance.

There was a calmness in which she said like it wasn’t what actually was but a simple fact.

But it was a fact.

It was the gravity of the situation. The corollary of the lack of consistent gravity growing up. A few years back, when she wasn’t the Naomi she is now, she’d have said that wouldn’t be a bad outcome. It certainly would have spared her the heartbreak.

“Naomi-”

“I remember the room I was in… I was alone, but there was this woman singing some song. Must have been a nurse or…”, an OPA member, the kind that once she would have thought as family.

Please don’t ask me about it, she thought. I can’t tell you anything more.

“I don’t think I could understand the words and I’m not sure if I ever learned her name but I still remember the melody.”

It all seemed out of place. Her confession, the topic, everything about it.

Except it wasn’t.

Because her body ached more than ever and she couldn’t help but revert to the last time she’d felt this bad. Because Jim doesn’t get everything yet, he doesn’t get Marco and all she’d been through but he can get pieces of herself. Because it was an indirect way to ask what she needed.

I was alone then, held together by a stranger's kindness. I was alone and scared and in so much pain and I don’t want to be that now.

(She leaves out the code she wrote just a few days after in a room next door. That is harder to bear than the gravity the planet would soon force on her.)

Naomi almost got lost in the memories. Too vivid. Too painful. Neither, both of them.

However, a low hum pulled her out of it. It was nothing like the melody she remembered but no less comforting. Perhaps even more so.

Because unlike the previous time, there was actual love and care behind it. This man… Truthfully she meant for her memory to be taken more metaphorically but the earnestness of his gesture meant more. His earnestness has always been a source of great affection towards him.

She buried herself further into his arms, letting the rumble of his voice soothe her as it vibrated through his chest.

“Mother Elise used to sing this for me whenever I had a nightmare”, he whispered in between hums. “But I'm not a good singer, clearly.”

His small jest was able to draw a laugh, albeit a small one, even here.

“Well, I've heard worse.”

“That's comforting.”

“No, keep going. It's nice. I like it.”

Jim leaned down to press a gentle kiss right at her hairline before resuming with her request.

His steady hand on her side, his deep pleasant scent, the soft material of his shirt on her shoulder and the tone of his voice grounded her back to their small cot better than anything that day.

Every ache and bruising stopped feeling like a distant sensation and came back to here and now. Feeling like her body once again.

In the midst of all that, she hadn't paid attention to the new warmth of the blanket that now enveloped her or had realised how much effort it took to keep her eyes still open.

Before she drifted asleep, she heard Jim whisper, "You're alone anymore. You'll always have me," but the exhaustion overwhelmed her and before she had a chance to wonder if she'd spoken any of her thoughts out loud, she fell into dreams of planets and gravity wells and a different life that would've never belonged to her.

if you have followed me recently then this will probably not affect the speed you see my fics in, this post is primarily so that my older followers know why i have been slower in releasing my series', wips, requests etc

i love posting for all of you and hearing all your positive feedback and comments but unfortunately my eating disorder has resurged and it's just not possible for me to prioritise posting over fixing this and my wellbeing as i've had a lot of not nice thoughts biting their way in again. i also don't think anyone will be surprised when i say that this fandom has also driven in some stress and discomfort recently so i need a break away from that as well even though so many people have been so nice to me on here

!! HOWEVER !!

i will still be posting as often as i feel comfortable with so this is not a goodbye and the longest i think i will be gone might be two weeks at longest (i'll put up another statement if it does end up being longer than that)

for now fic recs have been on hiatus because i plainly haven't had the time to read them but when i get back oh ho ho i have a big ole spam list for you

Sorry, this one has been sitting in my inbox for a little while; I wasn't trying to ignore you, I've just been trying to formulate a response that articulates why happy endings are a thing for me.

I've said this before (maybe it was too long ago at this point?) but I write happy endings as much for my own sake as for anyone else’s. I write because I see so much hurt, so much darkness and I want to see (and be) the opposite. I write because I have been deeply hurt, my heart wounded and bruised (beyond recognition, it sometimes seems). There is so much to despair about, so many things that want to drag us down and make us believe that we are made to stay in the mud. I want (perhaps the better word is need) to be part of what lifts people up. I want to give comfort and hope.

Writing, for me, is about healing something that is broken; sometimes that broken thing is something a reader asked for me to write about, sometimes that broken thing is the world. But more often than not, that broken thing is me.

Honestly, a little bit of my heart is in all of the things I write, a little of my search for healing, a little bit of hope that things can and do get better. I write happy endings because I want that for myself and for all of the people who come to read my fics to escape the things that are hard for them. When I write, I am creating a world where good gets to win, where love is stronger than hate, where there is enthusiastic forgiveness and acceptance. I am creating the world that I want to live in.

So no, I don't think that writing only happy endings constricts my creativity or my ability to write more things. I'm not trying to be prideful, but I have literally posted over a million words worth of fics and hundreds of stories, my WIP folder is so full that I’m sure some of those things will never see the light of day. In short, my creativity isn't suffering.

In conclusion, I am not trying to imply that only writing happy endings should be a thing for everyone. I’m more than happy for other authors to write the things they want to write- I know healing, and joy, and catharsis, and anything else we’re looking for when we read can be found in all sorts of ways. But writing happy endings heals something broken in me and gives me hope. And I share the things I write in hopes that it might do the same for someone else.

I always start out trying to respond to everything when i post a new fic, but then i get overwhelmed pretty quick. lo siento mucho.

I don't usually go for angsty endings tbh! I like a lot of angst in the middle, or i go for kind of bittersweet endings.

characterization; particularly I've gotten the feedback that i'm good at writing characters in different circumstances from canon while keeping their personalities both Intact and Logically Justifiable.

ending things, both in the sense that i start a lot of stuff and don't finish it, and the sense that i usually have too many ideas and don't know how/where to cut off a plot.

google translate always does me dirty so now i usually just write the dialogue in english and use a dialogue tag like "she said in *insert language*"

iiiiii think it was Rise of the Guardians! before that i mostly did over-dramatic RP on the cricket magazine forums where i had characters like a half-dragon bounty hunter.

probably the ishvalan elrics fic! fma is already full of a lot of meaty concepts, and it was fun re-conceptualizing the canon plot and character beats while keeping the arching plot intact. stuff like that is like a puzzle to me, it's very satisfying when i finish one and it gets positive feedback!

I'm sorry this is so horrifically long, but you ended up asking about one of my longest and long-standing projects! And please feel free to send as many asks as you like!

I don't even remember what I saw that reminded me of the concept of a Soulmate Goose (AO3 tag: "Alternate Universe - The Soulmate Goose of Enforcement"), wherein the premise is: one day, you wake up with a goose sitting on you and it leads you in some way or another to your soulmate, shenanigans ensue (it's often paired with the tag "Goose-typical violence"), and then you say oh and kiss and/or complete whatever other romantic rituals the author deems necessary, the goose disappears, and presumably, you continue to kiss and hold hands for eternity or whatever.

At around the same time, a friend informed me that Cody calls Anakin almost exclusively by his first name in the books and comics and the sheer disrespect necessary for that to happen absolutely killed me. I did not and will not be doing a fact-check because I believe we need whatever droplets of joy we can wring from this wretched washcloth of a timeline.

Looking at the dates, I'd just published my first Clone Wars fic and discovered two things in the process: 1) I needed to write more clone relationships immediately; 2) Cody's a right bastard.

Naturally, I decided it would be hilarious for Cody to get his goose and for it to run directly for Rex…only to be intercepted by one Anakin Skywalker. Anakin is, of course, enthralled with the idea of true love and building a home and a sense of belonging.

Cody would rather put own his eyes out with a spork. Hijinks ensue.

I started writing from Cody's perspective and got pretty well into it before I realized that in order for this rom-com scenario to work he'd have to: 1) realize that Rex likes him very much, 2) realize that, he, too likes Rex as a human person. At this point in the story they'd been fucking for months. Cody has been extremely chill and very relaxed about Rex in the CC groupchat. There was a whole thing with a grenade and a compass.

So I had to start over with someone who both had at least 50% of this mission-critical information, or at least the ability to stop playing 5D asshole chess with himself to figure it out, and also didn't make me want to do a little recreational enucleation.

Sorry, Rex.

A couple other fun facts:

The goose is a manifestation of the Living Force and therefore cannot die. Cody discovers this and starts sending GT-0101 on air reconnaissance missions.

The goose will not be paid in kisses or revelations. The goose demands blood. The goose will only accept human sacrifice; that is, total emotional honesty and nothing less.

(Does Cody just end up dying with the goose still next to him? Who can say.)

What this means is that you could fuck in front of the goose all the livelong day and it would remain, with its beady eyes and horrible beak teeth.

Cody is the first clone to get a goose. Make of that what you will.

the DSMP Lost Boys AU. GOD i was on some shit when i was thinking abt that. it was literally so perfect. i still have the other half of the references buried somewhere deep in my wip folder but i just. never finished it. i was probably never gonna write an actual fic for it but god did i want to do more screenshot redraws . it was so perfect. i still think abt it sometimes when i watch lost boys like. damn .... sam is so tommy coded . i love you annoying little brothers

ANOTHER dsmp one: vengeful spirit. god. fuck . where do i even start. vengeful spirit was my baby i cared about it so much. it was my ghostbur-centric character study fic series where after cwilbur was revived, ghostbur fought his way out of limbo kicking and screaming and then they had to deal with the consequences of both existing in the living world at the same time. very heart player core. something something you hate yourself so much but now there are two of you and youre different people but also youre the same guy and you hate that your brother trusts the dead fish eyes version of you more than the living breathing one. aka ghostbur gets to be angry because i really just wanted to see him snap and punch something. unfortunately the first fic totally flopped and i had nobody to bounce ideas off of so i was the only person in the world to care about vengeful spirit. i had like 12 oneshots planned out and they were each titled with song lyrics from a song in the playlist (which still exists btw) and i made a layout and everything. A LAYOUT. i never outline things dude thats how u KNOW i went hard for this one. another factor in its death tho is i started writing it like.. right after the cwilbur revival when there was a huge lull in lore streams and i was trying to fill in the blanks. but because i am a slow writer eventually canon surpassed me and i was like "hm this is too divergent now and since i am the only one who is going to read this it will simply live in my brain forever" . also i think my time for writing dsmp is way past me now. sad! oh well theres other fandoms.

third one is NOT dsmp related but it IS general minecraft related. fuck dude i have so many ideas about minecraft worldbuilding. its such a perfect game to write about. i have so many minecraft ocs that have super complex lore that will probably never see the light of day bc im like. how the hell do i convey this information without actually showing people my minecraft world. the intricacies. there are so many. i cannot play this game normally i have to make a story every single time. As an aspiring writer who never posts my shit i shall also help our little friend.

1. NEVER add too many of , because those make your fics seem slow paced and annoying to read, especially to those with short attention spans. Using less of , makes your writing seem more confident and relaxed.

2. Allow others to comment and suggest shit, but never change a fucking thing unless you actually WANT it and see it as something YOU ARE NOT PRESSURED TO DO.

3. If you feel like you want to rewrite a fic, dont delete the old one. Use it as both a draft and the basis for the rewrite, and a way for you to see your improvements.

4. Write when you are NATURALLY inspired. This is the reason i hesitate over releasing my writings to the internet. My computer and phone are full of many WIPs, but most of them are more like long prompts i havent worked on in like... 5 years or more? I have tried forcing myself to do things that are similar to what originally inspired me to write those things, but i find my work severely lacking compared to when the mood strikes me, in both length and quality. I know the pain of having to wait for a new chapter to release, and the hell of seeing "discontinued" on a work i enjoy, and i swore to myself i would NEVER do it to anyone myself.

(i am a big fat liar. I have one work posted and i havent posted on it for two years, but i am in denial.)

5. Use the tags properly. I dont give a fuck if its an international event on the fucking platform, i better see the fucking correct tags on that post or i will fuck you up. If you tag it "english" it better fucking BE english. If its an event, USE the PROPER TAG for the event. (Example, MerMay 2022). If it is FANART, TAG IT AS FANART. Its an extreme trigger for me to see improperly tagged shit. If it lacks a tag that isnt THAT important im alright, such as "we die like (character)s fat ass". But if its something like the work is promised to be Pure Fluff but is ACTUALLY ONLY SMUT AND NO FLUFF i will PIKA-CHUU!!!! YOUR ASS SO HARD.

This story has several names at the moment, this is just the one I've used on tumblr since you asked and I didn't wanna be like uhhhhh *breaks out wheel with options and spins dramatically* (okay I kinda did)

Others being "the way the stars whisper" "written in the stars" and "the stories stars can tell"

For background information, as I've learned many people didn't know, elves (like penguins and many other birds!) Essentially mate for life. They have one love, and if that love passes for any reason- they do not remarry. They also don't sleep around (according to Tolkien since I know this is common in fics and no hate! I am just going by what he says specifically because I WANT TO) because for elves sex = marriage. And they marry for both life AND death.

I believe this story is going to be 100% OC, as i haven't even decided if I'll be sharing it online online, as of yet. I have let others read it. The only one who has completely caught up to where I am currently at is @thehistoriangirl 😂💜 she's waiting (im)patiently for me to continue.

This is the story of Haldir and his love, where she is taken from him (kidnapped) and how she gets brought back after she's found, how they heal together, and conquer all adversity together. He does go to Helms Deep, but he doesn't die, ans comes home and they deal with the fall out of everything else coming about.

That is as vague as I can make it (not because I want to) as to not lose completely everything in my explanations. So if you'd like to know more, or anything specific I would be more than happy to share!

As a writer, I can speak for many of us here, we LOVE talking about our pieces simply because we have so much that goes into it. Lore that doesn't make it into the final product but gives explanation. Pieces we had to cut due to fluidity. Alternative routes not taken, and why!

We love our characters and we want you to love them, too. We just don't get the same sort of audience wanting to see bit and pieces of our WIPs as artists do (mainly because they're not quite as interesting as artists WIPs as it's hard to get a full picture from a few sentences)

Steve blinked, finally putting two and two together. “You’re Corroded Coffin?”

The man winked, then bowed extravagantly. “I am the owner, yes. Eddie Munson, in the flesh.”

“Jesus, you even sound like you’re from a shitty metal band.” Steve rolled his eyes, then dumped his dustpan in the garbage and started to take his apron off.

“Whoa- hey, shitty? I’ll have you know, metal music is the foundation of the music we know today. We wouldn’t have musicians like Gerard Way or Taylor Swift if it weren’t for shitty metal bands.” Eddie squinted at him, tilting his head slightly. “What’s your deal, anyways? You could at least say thank you, you know.”

Steve let out a surprised laugh, hanging his apron and turning to Eddie. “Thank you?! For what?”

“All of your extra business today! I got a ton of customers coming in with your cute little cake boxes. I’m sure quite a few of my clients came by after their appointments, too. I know it’s a pretty popular area, but that much foot traffic is rare for a weekday. So, you should be thanking me, I got you some extra sales today.” Eddie smiled at him, teeth bared and shoulders squared, the epitome of confidence.

Steve decided right then and there- he hated this guy.
