off topic but also on topic its so clear that the genshin/star rail (saying both cause theres a large overlap) have no capability of thinking.

there are so many fics where *reader* somehow becomes a (sex)slave or is forced to do horrible shit and just general dead dove behavior. the fact that the author used INGAME LORE, CANON BACKSTORY FOR THE CHARACTER proves how braindead so many people are.

like people try to free slaves/captors in media isnt a new thing. theres a lot of art of that angelhusk ship where one gambles for the others freedom (never watched it but its an example)

YOU'RE SO REAL FOR THIS!!! y'know I was sooo confused when people started screaming for blood when the authors are using his IN-GAME LORE in their fics and then claims that the people who enjoyed writing those have "white-knight syndrome" like cmon sjsadhjg you're giving me a fucking stroke.

I'll say it again, wanting to give slave aventurine or someone a better life DOESN'T mean they have "white-knight syndrome" when they have good intentions!!! We were all were crying for him and his tragic past, we all wanted to comfort him, and we at some point also wished for his salvation and the betterment of his life. These people need to stop throwing these "white-knight syndrome" accusations cuz it's definitely not about that. And like you said, it was his IN-GAME LORE. I already expected some authors to write about reader saving him from his slavery and there's nothing wrong with that! Cuz please, don't tell me you won't help the guy out of his abusive owner, let's be fr here.

Like you also said, many have been writing yandere/heavy dark themes about reader being literally SA'd and R'd by said character (do not tell me you guys haven't read all those fics where Aven was our debt collector and in paying our debt, he noncon or manipulated us into sleeping with him 💀) and now they wanna talk about morals?

I get their point alright, I truly do. Like I said in my other post, I do not condone the sex slave! aus about aventurine and the master/slave bdsm cuz his story truly hurt me and I'm uncomfortable sexualizing his slavery when I know about his story and what happened to him as a slave. I think there’s something worth noting about how narrator acts as if he’s bounded to stanley and how he has to ‘deal’ with his nonsense and actions when he can leave whenever. It’s something we know that he can do, he’s not bound to stanley in any physical sense. There’s many moments like the infinite hole where he comments on leaving. He can leave stanley whenever he chooses. So the fact that he waits and is (debatably) patient feels worth noting.

Basically my point is, waiting for stanley during any ending is ultimately his choice and there’s something very deep about being bound to someone in an emotional sense than a physical one. Because he very much is still clinging to stanley as much as he can despite being able to just leave. Then again, endings always have different meanings and circumstances but it just seems a point that he almost always decides to stay and wait it out or will always come back, just in case.

i also find it interesting that all of neytiri and jake's kids have names that all seem to go together and can be related to neytiri’s name somehow. neteyam is extremely similar to neytiri, tuktirey is said almost identical to neytiri even though the spellings are different, and kiri seems to be taken from the last 4 letters in neytiri. they all fit together - except lo’ak, which sort of plays into his feelings of being an outcast within his family.

This is intended as a loose, not-that-serious “generalization,” but I feel like you can sorta tell the age of a httyd fan based on how they react to Stoick’s relationship to Hiccup in the first movie.

Other life factors aside, someone young is more likely to side with Hiccup and relate to the ways that Hiccup feels uncomfortable with his father’s disappointments and expectations. They’re more likely to call Stoick unfair, perhaps even go so far as to say he was abusive. 

Meanwhile, I feel like many adult fans understand and sympathize with Stoick. They understand the nuance and struggles of a parent trying to help your kid, steer them away from wrong and dangerous paths, appropriately call out and discipline bad behavior to protect them from worse consequences, puzzle over your kid’s seemingly contradictory claims, handle the weight of many stressors, and sometimes make mistakes, even big mistakes (it doesn’t make you a bad person, but, like every parent, imperfect).

I first saw HTTYD when I was in high school. I saw things from Hiccup’s view. Now I’m 30 and I see things from Stoick’s. I think that’s part of the magic of HTTYD - both father and son are relatably real, struggling through things an everyday father or son would. To say Stoick is an abusive parent is as inaccurately reductive as saying Hiccup is a menace. Stoick made a few poor and questionable remarks that hurt Hiccup, and Hiccup did wildly questionable, disobedient, reckless, and dangerous things that hurt or scared Stoick and the rest of the village. Both sides had blind spots for how the other felt that exacerbated the other’s stress. I love that HTTYD understands both sides made mistakes, both sides are intended well, and both sides struggle with miscommunications. 

I love that HTTYD didn’t reduce either Hiccup or Stoick in depicting a miscommunicating, on-the-opposite-side-of-the-coin, still-love-each-other family.

Not because it would be an issue if they broke up, not because of anything reasonable, just the optics of dating someone who is technically his subordinate. Like is Passione’s Head Mafioso of Human Resources gonna call them into his office? Have a talk about office romances and power dynamics? Gonna make them take one of those two hour HR courses? so. i just came to after THE most disastrous night. i was hurting. told my friends i needed a drink. purposefully drank way too much, talked about my ex and sex-related traumas to some unifriends, came out as trans to my bff, made it home in one piece god knows how, napped for like an hour with coat and shoes still on and keys still in my hand, then got horribly sick, forced myself to make toast and drink water, got sick again, forced myself to make more toast and drink more water, peed like fifteen times, and woke up like half an hour ago at five something in the morning with toast on the bed? i thought i'd eaten it all? but there is a slice of plain toast on the mattress. phone's battery at 6%, heart coming out of my ass, stomach all fucked up. and my head is fucking killing me. like i don't think i've ever drank this much before. i got home at like 9 pm which means i haven't touched alcohol since 8 and that was over 9 hrs ago. i don't think that my head's still supposed to spin, not after i had water and toast multiple times. i can't even take shit for it because i'm not going to fucking die mixing alcohol and meds. although i think i threw up most of it? anyway. this is like- my new low. unsurprisingly, i'm hurting even more now.
