Movie Night
kol mikaelson x reader (minor poly!mikaelsons x reader) | requested
summary: kol is unsure about letting his siblings meet you, afraid they'd scare you away and he'd lose his best friend (and the girl he's in love with). but when he finally brings you home one night, his family has a reaction he never would've expected.

“They asked to meet you again,” Kol says suddenly, “I keep saying no, but they keep asking.”
You smile a little, curiosity peaked. “What’s the harm?”
“They’re… difficult sometimes. You know how families are.” He bites his tongue, afraid to say too much. You two are best friends; very loving and protective of each other. But there seems to be only two responses that the Mikaelsons ever give: complete obsession or extreme dislike. They could either love you or hate you, and Kol’s not sure which is worse.
“Yeah, but what family isn’t complicated? I’m sure they’re not so bad.”
“Y/N,” he sighs, tone somber, “are you forgetting my brother is Klaus Mikaelson? The greatly feared hybrid that terrorized Mystic Falls before he even arrived to town? And the rest of them are only a diluted version of his madness.”
“You aren’t.”
“You didn’t see me in the 1600s, darling.”
“Well that was then and this is now. I’m not afraid, Kol. I know you’ll keep me safe if they try anything.”
“You know I will. They wouldn’t dare.”
“Then there’s no reason to worry.” You give him another smile.
As soon as he meets your eyes, he looks down immediately. Your smile gives him butterflies. Kol would be lying if he said he didn’t harbor a little crush on you. That’s part of the reason he doesn’t want you to meet them - he’s afraid they’ll scare you away and you’ll want nothing to do with him. “I’ll try not to,” he finally replies.
A few minutes go by before you groan and shuffle in place. “This line isn’t going anywhere.”
The wait time on the screen says fifteen minutes, but it’s been way longer than that. You take a sip of the drink balanced in your arms amongst popcorn and snacks.
“I guess that’s what we get for trying to see a new movie on opening night.”
“Do you still want to see it?”
Kol’s juggling his own handfuls, or else he would’ve taken yours so you wouldn’t have to carry it. When he realized he couldn’t carry yours on top of his own, he apologized. It’s little things like that that make you want to cross the best friend boundary. He’s just so sweet, funny, and gentlemanly. Though you have yourself convinced that you’re way out of his league. I mean, come on - why would an original vampire date a mere human? You shook your head a little to send the thought away.
“Eventually, yeah. But I’m not so committed to this line.”
Lost in your head, you forgot you asked him a question. It takes you a second to ponder a response, but then he continues,
“Alright, how about this? We’ve already got the drinks and snacks, so why don’t we go to my house and watch something there? It’s plenty dark, usually quiet. It’ll be just like the movies.”
“Wait, did you say at your house?” Usually your own house is the movie destination. Did Kol just propose to go to his instead?
He shrugs, “my family wants to meet you, you aren’t intimidated by them. They might be there and I could introduce you, or we could slip in and watch a movie in peace.” You’re stunned for a minute, and he starts to take it as hesitation. “Unless you don’t want to. I understand completely if you don’t.”
“No, we should! I’d love to meet your family, Kol, no matter how scary.”
“Okay.” He puts a smile over top of his worry while he fishes his keys from his coat pocket. “I’ll drive.”
On the short ride to his house, he gives you a basic rundown of each of his siblings. He knows you already know most of what he’s telling you, but it distracts him from his nerves. And you, recognizing he seems more antsy than usual, listen quietly.
“So to summarize, they’re all pretty outspoken, very protective, and often threatening, but if you’re someone they care about, you have nothing to fear.”
Kol swallows hard at that. You’ve got it on the nose, but your awareness doesn’t give him much comfort. “Yeah, pretty much.”
“Okay, cool. Let’s go.”
To his horror, all three siblings are in the living room at that moment. As soon as the two of you enter, all eyes snap to you.
“Well that was a quick movie,” Rebekah had started. Then she sees her brother’s company. “And who might you be?”
“Bex, Nik, ‘Lijah, this is Y/N. Y/N, this is the family.”
“Hi!” You greet them with a smile.
For a second, they only stare. Though Elijah’s first to speak, “Very nice to meet you, Y/N. I suppose you are the friend my brother speaks of so often?” When you nod, he continues. “My, was he right when he said you were beautiful. Those e/c eyes remind me so much of the stained glass windows they used to make in the 1100s. Kol, do you recall it?”
Once he gets over the perplexed feeling running in his head, Kol clears his throat. “I do, brother. And yes, Y/N is quite beautiful, as I told you. She’s a good friend.”
“More than beautiful,” Klaus compliments, “she’s a work of art. Would you like to sit, love?”
Your face turns red as the men praise your features. Your response comes out in a stutter. “U-um, I’m okay. The movie we tried to see had a really long line, so Kol suggested we just come here to watch one instead.”
“Kol suggested it? I’m surprised he would let us meet you. He’d been denying our curiosities for months.”
“Don’t put her on the spot, Nik, she’s-”
“Oh, she’s fine, brother. She’s doing well for someone in her position. Y’know,” Klaus twirls a strand of your hair between his fingers, “it must be quite intimidating to meet a whole family of original vampires all at once.”
Don’t scare her, Niklaus! Ease up on the poor girl,” Rebekah interrupts, swatting his hand from you. “And don’t touch her without her permission.”
“I’m sorry, love. Your hair just looked too soft.”
“It’s alright. But um, yeah, it’s a bit intimidating, but I’m not easily shaken.” You straighten your back. “I was actually wanting to meet you all, too.”
“See if we live up to the tales?” Rebekah teases. Her eyes stare into yours, and you find it hard to maintain eye contact.
“Not really,” you admit, “just wanted to meet Kol’s siblings. Out of curiosity.”
“Ah. So are your expectations met?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t know what to expect.”
Elijah then steps forward. “Tell us this, Miss Y/N. Do you feel safe in this moment? Or would you like Kol to take you away from here?”
It’s an odd question, even to Kol. The man’s throat dries and he narrows his eyes. Is his brother threatening or welcoming you?
“I um…”
“Please, be honest.”
“I’m good. I mean, I feel safe.”
Elijah’s straight lips curve into a smile. “Delightful. It was an honor meeting you, Miss Y/N.”
“T-thank you. You too, Elijah. All of you, I’m glad we got to meet.”
“I second that,” Klaus approaches you again, “what a lovely girl my brother’s brought home to meet the family.”
“Friends, Niklaus,” Elijah mutters under his breath. It’s quiet, but you can still hear it. “He’s said they’re just friends.”
Klaus gives the man a look, like he’s doubtful of that, but then turns back to you. “Apologies. What a lovely friend you are to my brother. Perhaps, if you’re available later, we can talk more. I’ll show you one of my favorite paintings. The shade is just like that of your skin.” His eyes travel your body like it’s a piece of art, and you can’t help but blush.
“Okay. I’ll be sure to stay a while after the movie.”
“Wonderful!”
The eldest two leave you with the youngest two. Kol, teeth clenched in aggravation, turns to direct you to his room. His sister, however, beats him to your attention.
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Y/N, as my brothers have said. My, my, I sure do see why Kol speaks so highly of you.” She smirks a little. “Enjoy your movie, and if you need anything, I’m just down the hall.” As she walks away, she flashes you a wink, then disappears.
Kol wastes no time bringing you to the lounge room where he and Bex used to kill time some hundred years ago. He explained in the car that they’d watch old black and white films in there together, while their brothers were off running amuck. Even now, they still retire to the darkened room for the occasional movie.
“Sorry about that,” he says the minute he shuts the door.
You cock your head at him. “Sorry about what?”
“Them.”
“What about it? They were nice.”
“Y/N…”
“What? Were they not nice? Is that their ‘not nice’ behavior?”
“No, darling. That was actually the nicest I’ve ever seen them.”
“Then what’s the-”
“They were all flirting with you, darling. Ogling you. Not a care about it.”
“Oh,” you whisper, realizing he might be right.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. We shouldn’t’ve come here.”
“Wait, Kol, it’s alright. I don’t mind.”
“No, it was totally inappropriate. In fact, I should talk to them about not doing it in the future.” He starts to rant. You’ve learned to not interrupt Kol when he’s ranting, because he’ll miss every word you say. “God, I didn’t want them to see you because I thought they’d scare you off, but I didn’t think they’d so openly hit on you! Elijah, too, where did his manners go? And I mean, I know why they were. You’re gorgeous, Y/N, and I’d want you, too, but…” he stops, realizing what he had admitted.
Your heart leaps out of your chest, but then falls to the hard ground all at once. I’d want you, too, but…
“But what?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“Kol.”
“It’s nothing, darling.”
“Kol, tell me. Please!”
He takes a deep breath. “I can’t have you. I can’t put you in that kind of danger. Being your friend puts you at risk enough, but if we were anything more, you’d become a target. I can’t let that happen; I can’t let anything bad happen to you.” One glance, he allows himself to take, before dropping his eyes back to the ground. He sees your frown, but misses the way your eyes search for him. “Besides… you’re better off with a human, not someone with such a violent past like myself.”
“Well I’d like to disagree with that last part,” you snort, “your past doesn’t matter to me. Right now is what matters. Also, being a vampire doesn’t make you violent. Plenty of humans are violent.”
“That’s not the point, Y/N, I’m saying-”
“I know what you’re trying to say. But I’m saying I like you regardless of whatever you’ve done in your past. And - since you already admitted it, what’s the harm in me saying it, too? - I like you. More than a friend. I have for a while.”
Finally, he looks up at you and doesn’t break eye contact. “You do?”
“How could I not?”
“But what if you get hurt? If we were to have something?”
“Well, one, you’d protect me. You already do, so why would it be any different now? Two, I don’t care. If that’s the only thing standing in the way of us trying this out, then we’ll just have to face it head-on. And who knows? Maybe it’ll never happen. But I want to be with you, if you want it too.”
“More than you know, darling.”
“Okay,” you breathe out, giddy with excitement. “So what first, boyfriend?” You test the term out, tasting it on your tongue. You like it.
Kol’s smile tells you he likes it, too. “Well I have a great idea for our first date. How about a home movie?”
“Perfect idea. What time?”
“Right now.”
The two of you move to the couch and assemble your drinks and snacks. Only this time, when you sit beside one another, he can confidently put an arm around your back to pull you close.
“A true gentleman waits until at least one date to kiss the girl,” he mutters into your ear, “but that’s not counting these.” Then, you feel a quick kiss to your cheek.
Your face blushes instantly. “Okay, so how about you press play so we can get to the end of the night?”
He senses your quickened heart rate at the thought of getting to kiss him for real. It makes his own heart race, too, but he holds himself back. Instead, he gives you another kiss on the cheek in the meantime. “Oh, we’re just getting started, darling.”

if asexuality or aversion to sex comes from trauma, that is absolutely something a therapist and you are supposed to address, that's not queerphobia and equating it to conversion therapy is kinda disgusting and queerphobic itself lmao
That is not what I said in the slightest, to a point where im questioning if youre asking me this in good faith at all. Please actually read and/or reread the words I typed before accusing me of things like this. My initial post was not even worded in a way that was vague enough to be misinterpreted this way.
If you still don’t understand how misguided you are, here is my attempt at putting it more clearly :
Yes, aversion to sex and/or romance and lack of sexual/romantic desires can come from trauma. Therapy can help that, if you find the right therapist. However, from my own experiences, I can tell you that the way a lot of therapists approach this is at best, ineffective, and at worst, downright retraumatizing. If sex and/or romance makes you uncomfortable, being convinced to take part in sexual/romantic acts without you having desires for it or being downright averse to it is a recipe for disaster (for most people). It just puts you into more non-consensual and traumatizing positions. That is what exposure therapy is, and that is what most therapists have tried (and sometimes succeeded) to do to me. Horrible experience, would not recommend to anyone. This approach tries to cure the symptom instead of the issue, and is deeply based in ace/arophobia (seeing “fixing” a lack of attraction as more urgent and important than addressing the source of the issue, the actual trauma).
Also, no. If someone doesn’t feel like fixing their trauma for any reason, nobody should push them to. A therapist can absolutely inform the patient on the benefits of doing so, but trauma work is incredibly hard, very much a long-term thing, and can put the patient in an extremely vulnerable headspace. It’s the mental equivalent of breaking a bone to set it right again. For an abuse victim who just got out of that situation, it is completely understandable for them to want to enjoy their new-found freedom and joy as much as they can, for as long as they want. Pushing them towards trauma work without the right environment, mindset or literally anything else they feel might make this not the right time for it can cause further damage, especially knowing how the current psychiatric institution works.
Asexuality and aromanticism, however, do not come from trauma, or any other neurological differences. It might be affected by it, and people with life experiences similar to aro and/or ace people are welcomed in the community (for exemple, sexual and/or domestic abuse survivors that are sex/romance averse), but it is not caused by it. Most therapy settings are not informed about asexuality, and assume it is a symptom of a underlying issue, that needs to be fixed. The same kind of exposure therapy that I talked about earlier is often used to “cure” aro and/or ace people, putting them those same non-consensual and traumatizing situations. That is conversion therapy, and medical use of coerced corrective rape. These therapists are, often with methods similar to gaslighting (and I use the original meaning of the word here, not the diluted tiktok version of it), convincing people to do sexual and/or romantic acts that they have no desire to do, to fix an issue that doesn’t exist, with the explicit goal of making someone not queer. Please explain to me how that is not conversion therapy.
Other forms of arophobia and acephobia are prevalent in psychiatric institutions as they are today, tho I wouldn’t call most of those conversion therapy. You only need to look at the notes on my post to see what I’m talking about.
I genuinely hope that this is a formative experience for you, and that in the future, you learn to actually read what is written before you send messages like this. Have a good day.

not to be too parasocial but...the denial playlist is giving very much 'it is nothing now, but it was everything then'.
sure, maybe taylor is beyond the point of acceptance and obviously has moved on from that part of her life, but she definitely had to revisit it repeatedly whilst making this album and the playlists. thats the thing, when you reopen a wound after a long time, you have a better understanding of it. but it still hurts.
ig that's pretty much it ; taylor realises she was screwed over, wasted a lot of time etc. let's say she's even angry about it. she categorises those phases of her life based on how she feels bout them NOW rather than how she did then.
she has healed ; she's indifferent at best and disgruntled about letting herself be wronged at worst. that utter lack of positive feelings about that time in her life compels her to overlook the positive aspects of those songs.
its always been "all's well that ends well" for her, and that one didn't end well at all. so, she applies the opposite logic on it - it must have always been bad.
memories of intense periods in our life often tend to decieve us and twist the true version of events - omitting important info and planting fake ones. it might make us think that everything was black and white, either complete bliss or pure agony. but it was neither, and that's why those songs were conceived in the first place. that's why she struggled so hard to salvage the relationship. that's why it hurts.
"i can't make it go away by making you a villain" but our brains tend to subconsciously dilute the details of such moments, sparing us the heartbreak or atleast make it easier to digest.
taylor feels right now that those songs were written in moments of delusion and perhaps she's right, but what's more likely is that it WAS good once upon a time. she just wants to forget it, and that's okay. it's her songs at the end of the day.
its always been "all's well that ends well" for her, and that one didn't end well at all. so, she applies the opposite logic on it - it must have always been bad.
with respect, anon, this feels like too big of a big conclusion to jump to. we haven't heard the album, we don't know the full story, and she's probably going to be processing it/her feelings about it for a long time. (or maybe she won't!) they could change tomorrow, next year, 10 years from now.
idk how to articulate why this is rubbing me the wrong way, sorry. this is giving when joever first happened and my feelings were getting hurt the way people talked about relationships and breakups and the shaming and the "she should've KNOWN" of it all.

I don’t get how you’re a Rhaenyra fan but a Dany hater 🤨 like Rhaenyra committed a lot of atrocities in the end.
I don’t hate Dany! She’s smart, she’s funny, she’s got some of the best magical scenes in the series - she’s got some of the best scenes in the series, period, her last dragon fever dream in agot is like top 10 for me easy - and she’s a character that is conceptually similar to like, theon or ned or cersei in that she is really firmly rooted and informed by her past traumas, and I love characters like that from a writing standpoint. I have definitely talked more negatively about her bc it’s basically impossible to not be constantly inundated with takes i feel are just the most vapid or deranged or whatever takes in the world, but you can say that for anyone who feels anything at all about dany bc she is a very polarizing character! i think some of her narrative is frustratingly written, i do not mesh well with a large section of her fanbase, and i actively hate her show counterpart, but show dany is a vastly different character than book dany is (i mean just age alone, like with robb and jon, some of your sympathy evaporates bc they are too damn old to be acting this stupid). ultimately, a lot of the "hate" people think i feel for her is directed at what i feel are stupid opinions on her character or her show counter part's place in pop culture, or just like, normal analysis and critique that i do of every character in this series.
i will acknowledge that i tend to describe myself as "pro stark, pro blacks, pro smallfolk" so people know the general gist of what they're signing up for when they start interacting with me, but that is such a simple way of diluting all of my feelings for all of these characters. like "pro stark" in the sense that they are the most rational of the leaders we get in the main series, and have a connection to the land, people, and culture that is important, but i've pointed out plenty of times that robb's war is harmful to the people of the riverlands, regardless of whether he's justified or not, and i've been posting about how ned and cat fail to properly prepare their children (and the north in general) for Real World Politics, to the detriment of their kids. "pro stark" in the sense that i thought show dany wasn't just deranged from season 1 she was also wildly unlikable and nauseatingly stupid, you could see her "dark dany" turn coming from a mile away because these were not subtle writers interested in exploring why dany would decide "dragons plant no trees" and instead focused on her looking hot while she set shit on fire (same way they were less interested in looking at why jon failed as lord commander and had him be the action hero fighting at hardhome). definitely most of my aggravation at "dany" is at the show version, and while i do get why people feel that if you're a proponent of the "dark dany" theory that you're "anti" dany, but I am not anti book dany! i just think like rickon stark, shireen baratheon, jojen reed, aegon vi, etc she is very much doomed to die a very tragic death.
and i do not like characters based on how little atrocities they commit lmao, like, if i were to list my top 10 favorites, probably half of them have committed some extreme war crime. theon is a rapist! jaime is a shitty ass partner to cersei, a deadbeat dad despite living in the same building as his kids, and a failed child murderer! bran is mind raping hodor, understands on some level that what he's doing is morally repugnant, and keeps doing it anyway! pretty much every targaryen i like has committed some sex crime heinous enough to get them life + 25!! bobby b raised joffrey!!! i know i facetiously say shit like "rhaenyra did nothing wrong" but i'm well aware she's out here torturing people, same as like 75% of the characters we interact with in the whole series. so "rhaenyra commits atrocities" or "dany commits atrocities" is just not how i look at these characters (and not to get into stan wars here, but good lord, "rhaenyra commits atrocities" she is not the only or even the worst person in the dance! like 85% of these people suck and the ones who don't - which is limited to like, helaena, jace, nettles, and addam almost exclusively - either die or disappear because That's The Point. also, i was raised SDA alright, you gotta be a really compelling character for me to get past being super catholic, it's in my dna to be a spiteful hater of catholics!! catelyn stark is my one exception to this rule folks!!!!).
as to why i like rhaenyra - for one thing, saying that emma d'arcy is a better actor than emilia clarke is like saying cillian murphy is better than bradley cooper. they are just not on the same level lol. i definitely have my critiques of show!rhaenyra's writing but i also think she's miles better written than show!dany and her story is also more interesting because her writing is much less nonsensical. for another, i think book rhaenyra and book dany are wildly similar characters (for a reason!) meant to be in conversation with each other, and i very much enjoy what that conversation is saying about power, nobility, gender, sex, war, and identity. on a more technical level, while fire and blood is a mess writing and world building wise, the one thing it does better than the essos chapters (because it doesn't take place in essos, it takes place in westeros, and george struggles much less fleshing out "western poc" than he does "eastern poc" ya know) is that rhaenyra is not the only insight we get into the conflict. the people she loves, the people she rules, the people she harms, they all have a pov and a voice in a way that missandei, irri, jhiqui, rakharo, jhogo, grey worm, on and on, do not, the way that basically every single character that isn't westerosi except mmd (who was killed in book one) is not afforded. it's just a lot easier (as of right now) to talk about rhaenyra as a character because we have her beginning, middle, and end and the povs of people who hated her vs dany, we have the beginning and middle, a lot of arguing over what her end will be, and no one in the narrative as of yet who has even the barest criticism of her decisions besides cardboard cut out villainous slavers.
so like...no i do not hate dany, and i don't feel it's necessary to asterisk every post about rhaenyra with "i know putting a hit out on nettles and addam, locking the smallfolk into KL without easing their burdens of the war, positing herself as an exception to male line primogeniture instead of pushing for absolute primogeniture, and using torture on tyland and vaemond's family was fucked up, i acknowledge that she's flawed" when i talk about her, nor do i feel the need to defend my position on dany on the off chance one of her more annoying stans finds my posts and decides i hate women because i said i didn't like her sexual relationship with irri.

im going to be so honest, helpol/polytheistic circles need to become more discerning and aware of a writers voice & intentions. first and foremost, unless you're reading the direct greek (and reading it CORRECTLY! that shit is hard!), you are reading someone else's best guess. read as many translations of the same text as you can. and pay attention to who is writing what/writing when/writing how.
especially when it comes to roman age texts, what we might label as "original intent", and maybe more accurately "original understandings", of legends and figures get diluted and replaced. rome was a very different world to the greek city state, to hellenistic egypt, to archaic-age islands. obviously greek stories aren't devoid of personal or cultural sentiments (see: hesiod's works, any philosophy), but a lot of the discourse i see about texts is roman v. greek interpretations.
(along this, don't be afraid of cold-emailing classical professors for book lists. the worst they can do is ignore you, but there's a 90% chance it's also their passion, so they may have useful commentary on different translations.)
also remember that texts are later versions of the stories we know and absolutely had alternate readings/etc. orality was a major part of storytelling in both markedly theistic and non-theistic* settings. a symposium story is not meant to have the same effect that rhapsodical stories have — setting and reciter are too different and aim at different things.
does this make confidently entering helpol spaces daunting? absolutely. absolutely it does. i hesitate to count many of my years as a follower because i did not keep much of this in mind. however, as a classics major, i will say that it, 1.) gets easier the more you practice this awareness, and 2.) makes it far more useful for you in the long run.
i will not deny the use of personal gnosis in your own beliefs and practice. you can argue, and many have, that the very foundation of greek religious thought was personal or local gnosis rather than panhellenic/codified gnosis. however, personal gnosis often comes after understanding the gods as the original members of our religion did. "if he means this for them, what does this mean to me?". being able to read not only explicitly religious texts (ie. homeric hymns) but cultural literature (ie. plays & lyric poetry & etc) with a discerning eye has improved my connection with the gods and changed the ways i root them in my life. i can only hope that others will be willing to make that plunge and do the work for themselves.
i do understand that this is hard — especially for people who are not academically inclined etc. — but this is also one of the many Research Religions. fundamentally, by following this path, you will end up doing some (if not a lot of) research, critical analysis, and extraneous academia. take your breaks, make the process as easy for you as you can possibly make it, but don't let the fear of it being hard deter you from doing it.
read, learn, think, worship. this is the foundation for connection.

What were your thoughts on the Disney live action version of The Little Mermaid??
It's a live action Disney remake and they're known for being creatively bankrupt for good reason. At worst, live action remakes ruin the original and at best they dilute the brand so it isn't as if it's going to be a good movie, but I think a lot of people are surprised it isn't as bad as we've come to see with other movies? Which, I will say, it isn't as bad as Cinderella 2015 (could anything ever be lol) and I would place it more in the shot by shot remake category of BATB and TLK. Over all though I wish they did their own thing with it (it's tricky though because it was a copy and paste in some respects, but then they left certain things out too that I thought was odd given how identical the plot is and how the absence of aforementioned dropped material weakened certain characters and storylines). I'm someone who holds original content dear to my heart (I haven't even seen the Broadway iteration because seeing someone who's not animated Ariel/Jodi be referred to by that name or singing Part of Your World just makes me sad, I even limit the park performer content I take in and I don't watch the sequels at all) so I did feel a little disheartened to see how much they copied and ripped from the original. Like the opening scene we see of her is taken directly from the animated movie, down to the dialogue, how they copied Part of Your World, even with the shot of her reaching toward the surface at the top of her Grotto, the waves splashing behind her on the rock, just everything and I don't know, it just makes me sad because it's done on such a higher budget now and people are saying it's "so much better than the original" and obviously this movie JUST came out and there's a way higher budget so it's going to appeal to modern audiences more but. It just feels like they carried everything over from the original to this film's detriment? Like...you can say the 1989 movie takes from the original story too and isn't original, but that production gave the mermaid the name Ariel and it gave her red hair and a green fin and a best friend named Flounder that was a fish and a crab named Sebastian and created the song 'Part of Your World' and a Prince named Eric, etc etc etc, and this movie copies it to the point where it doesn't even make sense? (Like even the new face character, who they market as a different person, is brushing her hair with a dinglehopper and is talking about her friends Sebastian and Flounder and it's like how is this different? lol why not give Halle's mermaid new or different friends or just something that set her apart and allowed the story to be original to Halle)
Like Sebastian and Flounder were invented for the medium of animation, so to put them in this photorealistic world just doesn't make sense. Why not make them merpeople and adjust their characters, or replace them with new characters that are humans/real actors? Also, why does her name have to be Ariel- why does she have to sing the same songs? Why can't she be her own character, why can't this film its own thing? (Also, Melissa and Halle both imitate the original at times heavily so that, even in the same scene sometimes, when there's a line that wasn't in the original movie and they don't have that vocal reference to go off of, they sound completely different than they did a few seconds ago; Naomi Scott's Jasmine does this sometimes, too) Because this movie is just going to suffer unflattering comparisons to the original- the Grotto destruction scene makes me feel nothing in this movie, the performances are flat and uninspired, the singing isn't anything to write home about. I think a lot of it comes from the fact that most of the cast didn't really fit the roles they were given- Melissa and Javier admitted to texting the director, begging for a part- and the director's openly shown that he doesn't understand a lot of the original movie so, if you don't understand the source material, it could never be adapted well. The first rule in Hollywood is never bash the movie you're remaking and the director did this many times (every live action Disney movie does). But, like I said previously when discussing BATB, maybe if it was its own thing, it would be passable because we wouldn't constantly be reminded by the superior version that already exists? I don't think Emma's Belle would've been that bad if they didn't make her an interpretation of the animated character? She doesn't need to be named Belle or have a garish yellow dress or sing the songs from the animated. They should've readapted the story and gone from there. Brandi's Cinderella is a perfect example- she doesn't dilute the original and, while there are parallels, she's totally her own performance and both can coexist peacefully without being at odds or making the other worse. She doesn't steal the original's dialogue or songs (I know she's an adaption from the stage show) and she brought forth her own portrayal that isn't copying or stealing anything from any other ones. I see a universe in which Ilene's Cinderella would exist without Brandi's and in which Brandi's Cinderella would exist without Ilene's.
Also, I don't really want to get into it, but I do think that this film presents us with really questionable ideals when it comes to how we depict women and there's so much in that movie that's genuinely problematic/reinforces negative stereotypes and I hope people will realize and push forth for better representation and artistic integrity moving forward. However, unlike really bad live action films where nothing good comes of it (Cinderella 2015, Maleficent), I do like how much positivity has surrounded the fandom because of this movie and I think viewing this film as a star vehicle for Halle fares much better than treating it like an interpretation of an animated film. I also hope this is a step in the right direction for better diversity and more people of color finding leading roles and that our casts will be more diverse in front of and behind the camera moving forward, because they were only scratching the surface here with what could've been done and it still ultimately reads as a very hetero/white production.

The Role of Mobile Responsive Design in Landing Page Optimization
Tumblr media
When it comes to managing an effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategy, few faux pas can be as detrimental as duplicate content. Although not penalized by Google directly, duplicate content can significantly affect your site's SEO performance. This blog post will delve into the impact of duplicate content on SEO and offer effective strategies to address and avoid it.
Duplicate Content: A Saboteur of SEO
Duplicate content refers to substantial blocks of content within or across domains that completely match other content or are appreciably similar. This can be either a result of careless copy-pasting or simply reusing content elements extensively across your site.
It may seem harmless on the surface, but duplicate content can be damaging to your SEO performance in several ways:
1. Dilutes Link Equity: When multiple pages have the same content, external sites linking to your content may link to several versions instead of concentrating on a single page. This dilutes the value of inbound links, weakening the ranking potential of your content.
2. Wastes Crawl Budget: Search engine bots have a finite resource - the crawl budget - which dictates how often and how many of your pages are crawled in a given time. If a large portion of your site hosting duplicate content, search engines could be wasting their time crawling multiple identical pages instead of discovering new or updated content.
3. Confuses Search Engines: If you have multiple versions of the same content, search engines can get confused about which version to index or rank for query results.
Addressing Duplicate Content: Best Practices
Armed with the understanding of potential problems caused by duplicate content, let's explore some methods to address and prevent such issues.
1. Use 301 Redirects
When you move a page or permanently replace it with another, make sure to implement a 301 redirect - essentially a change of address note to Google - to prevent multiple versions of the same page from existing.
2. Utilize the Canonical Tag
The canonical tag is a piece of HTML code that tells search engines which version of a page you want them to treat as the 'official' one during indexing. It can be especially useful if you have multiple URLs with similar content.
3. Carefully Craft Your Content
The best way to avoid duplicate content issues is to create original and unique content for each webpage. Avoid copying and pasting content across pages, and if you need to quote or reference external content. Make sure to do so in small volumes and include proper attributions.
4. Manage URL Parameters
URL parameters like click tracking and certain eCommerce functions can create a vast array of duplicate content within your domain. Make sure to manage these parameters correctly and consider having them excluded from search engine crawling if necessary.
5. Be Cautious with Syndicated Content
If you syndicate your content - that is, allow others to republish your posts. Ensure that they link back to your original content. And use the canonical tag to acknowledge the source page.

5-4-3-2-1 Tag Game!!
Tagged by @alidravana ! Thank you so much for the tag! :D
top 5 works i’m proudest of (not in any particular order):
Since I only have two actual works, I'll just put them both LOL:
Just Us - Keegan and Merrick havea moment after the events of the game
My Bed Is A Pool And The Walls Are On Fire - Keegan being delirious for 1000 Words
top 4 current wips i’m excited about:
Mostly all Whumpuary works since they've got my full attention rn LOL
Woken Up Like An Animal - Fill for the prompt Nightmares. Logan makes friends with Mouse after he accidentally kicks her across a room. Title is a line from Human by Daughter (aka one of the best Logan songs to exist LOL)
Keegan's Hypothermia fic - Prompt fill for Hypothermia and "Stay With Me" - Trying to play into the found family as much as I can because I am a SUCKER for it) Pending title ^^
My Heroes Are Dead (They Died In My Head) - Prompt fill for Betrayal. Bitter stream of consciousness, takes place after Struck Down, from Keegan's perspective (but Ajax's fate will be left ambiguous so he might be dead, might be canon divergence that lets him live) Title is a line from Diluted by Slipknot
I Won't Give Up On You (So Don't Give Up On Me) - Prompt fill for "Don't Do This" and Blurry Vision. Not entirely sure what this will entail but it will probably center around Hesh and Logan :) I love :) Angst :) I'm just hella into the title and the prompts as a combination. Title is a line from The Sadness Will Never End by Bring Me The Horizon
top 3 improvements in my writing:
Actually rewriting drafts. A lot of the time, I don't typically rewrite drafts, but for some of the Ghosts ficxs, I've actually got multiple different versions of fics LOL
Uhh I'd say I've definitely developed a stylised way of writing? Which, is actually pretty much just the way I write normally AHA - a lot pauses in strange places, and of course the angsty internal monologuing. I also like messing with structure when I can (Unfortunate House of Leaves simp over here)
Catching when my tenses slip. I don't know why, it might be due to roleplaying, but I find that I often flip between past and present tense in the middle of writing (where it wouldn't make sense to) But I've been able to catch it, lately. Makes editing fics a bitch LOL
top 2 writing resolutions:
Just posting more honestly. Last fandom I wrote fics for got a grand total of three fics because I didn't get to finish the others LOL, and then I kind of drifted off to other things (it's still some of my best angst work, so hopefully I can bring that energy to the Ghosts. The character I fixated on actually might have some similarities to Logan ssooo 👁 👁)
Maybe trying to branch out more? My two modes of writing are Hurt/No Comfort (hilarious, because I hate reading Hurt/No Comfort) and Whump so maybe I can try smth else? Maybe romance? Definitely not something I'm familiar with writing, but it feels like something I could try. (The real issue is finding ships I wanna write about /hj)
number 1 favourite line:
Hmm, this is hard, so I'm going to make up for all the other ones I can't fill by giving a few LOL
From Just Us, I'm quite fond of this line:
Shame stirs in his stomach, making him nauseous before working its way up, gripping his heart and then balling up to cause a lump in his throat that he tries his best to swallow around. "I miss him." The shame ignites like a gasoline trail, flaring quickly into anger (whether it's at himself or Rorke... it's hard to tell with all the smoke) that only makes him feel more sick. "God damn it, I miss that piece of shit."
From the Nightmares fic I'm working on (almost done with it!):
Her eyes did more than enough talking on that front, strangely expressive for how closed off she otherwise seemed. They told a thousand stories; all indecipherable, written in a language that no one could speak of, but could understand all the same. The mind's exact tales of suffering were locked away, hidden, but their effect still seemed to shine from the soul's very own fractured looking glass. A hint of resignation acted as dust upon the reflection's surface; a house haunted by time more than any other phantom.
and then this giant excerpt from a WIP abt Hesh :)
Occasionally, a glimpse will come to Hesh’s mind. Sometimes it’s intrusive, lightning flashing against a canopy of dark clouds, shaking the foundations of his mind with a deafening roar. Sudden, brief and violent in nature. Other times it’s… slow. Easy and gentle, like ocean waves crawling their way up the beach; soft, hushed. Almost comforting, if not for the deep grief that the tide often brought with it, the wind brushing by carrying the faint echoes of laughter and excited voices.
On days like this, the wind only seems to carry his own distant screams. The tide now feels lonelier than it ever did. That one set of footprints trailing in the sand was just that; a single set. The second set of imprints settled in his own stride now gone.
Instead, the ghost of his shadow is embedded yards away, a trench dug out by desperately grasping hands, reaching for anything. Reaching for him.
It’s still the gentle ease of a memory washing over him, sea foam gathering, swaying and receding slowly, but that’s perhaps what makes it worse. The slowness. The time he has to sit there and dismantle himself from the inside out, while his own head taunts him with things he no longer has, can no longer reach out for. Even the ebb and flow of water can wear down cliffs with enough time, steady and persistent in its movements.
Imagery galore! LOL
tagging... @bubble-dream-inc , @goorehound and @neon-amnesia (If y'all want to, don't feel pressured to! ^^)

Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food
This album is the beginning of the legendary team up of David Byrne and Brian Eno. Rather than help polish their sound Eno understood that the shaky offbeat nature of the music was the appeal. Byrne's anxiety and confusion towards things around him is, as usual, in full display. Now this isn't really my favorite Talking Heads album, but that's like saying it isn't my favorite flavor of ice cream. Still I feel like there is a steady step up in quality for each of their first four albums and this one being in the middle of that evolution makes me feel like it's more or less on here because of Take Me To The River. That leads into my last point. Take Me To The River is one of their best songs. I've gushed about how much I like Al Green before so when I say that I much prefer the Talking Heads version you understand how much that means. Green's soulful original has nothing on the neurotic spin that Byrne gives the song.
Tumblr media
Parliament - Mothership Connection
The influence this album, and the entire P-Funk catalogue, has had on music is staggering. Tracks from Mothership Connection are some of the most frequently sampled in all of hip hop history and George Clinton still produces to this day. But that's not what it's about, that's just what it is. I cannot explain to you in words why a song whose lyrics sheet is mostly "Gaga goo ga Gaga goo ga Gaga goo ga ga" is one of the best things ever written. I could put on the reviewer hat and talk about how the mythology represents an idea of hyper positive afrofuturism that necessarily can't take itself too seriously without diluting the message and how this relates to the dying excitement for the civil rights movement from the 60s. But that is only half the story. The other half is an interstellar DJ coming at you from the Chocolate Milky Way to tell you about the messianic Starchild and his battle with perpetual downer Sir Nose d'Voidoffunk. It's chaotic, funky, psychedelic, utterly thrilling, infinitely memorable and just one of the best albums of all time. It's honestly fucked up that it isn't at least within the top 100.
Tumblr media
Luther Vandross - Never Too Much
This is my first time knowingly listening to Luther Vandross. He seems really happy! Like usually when you get a soul funk type guy he's always got this seductive smoldering vibe going on. But Vandross is just so excited to brag about how good his girl is. I can hear his smile. He's backed by a fantastically corny all synth funk orchestra with a hint of disco. It's not an album I'd put on myself, but I was definitely enjoying it.
Tumblr media
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
Gerard Way seriously shows of their musical chops on this album. While I like other MCR records better, I can't deny that this has the best musical arrangements. And yes, you heard me right I prefer the rest of MCR's discography over Black Parade. Yes even Danger Days. Fite me. The thing about Black Parade is that, while a fantastic album overall, it feels lyrically extremely overwrought in places. And I'm sorry, but this is specifically a problem for me in most of the actually popular songs on the album. Mama, Teenagers, and yes even the title track kinda have me rolling my eyes a bit. And the bonus track, Blood, makes me want to jump out of my skin from schadenfreude. Thankfully these moments don't tank the album quality overall, but I think it deflates a bit from Mama onward.
Tumblr media
Funkadelic - One Nation Under A Groove
It may seem odd that George Clinton led two bands simultaneously that shared most of their personnel. But see Parliament was more dance oriented and focused of the spiritual character focused side of the P-Funk mythos where Funkadelic was more psychedelic and soul focused with an emphasis on secular aspects of the mythology. This album focuses on tight grooves and long form improvisation while Uncle Jam tells you how to pledge allegiance to the nation of Funkadelica. You can always count on not getting normal ass shit where George Clinton is involved. And this album is just that. Long bass grooves with the guitar doing basically whatever it want and gang vocals that are mostly weird chants. This is the only album where you'll hear someone yell "the world is a toll free toilet" over literally the best groove you've ever heard.
Tumblr media
Big Star - Radio City
#1 Record is obviously the better record so why was it rated lower than this one? It clearly goes Radio City < Third < #1 Record. Whatever, more or less repaste what I said about their first record but with like 30% less enthusiasm I guess? Don't misunderstand me, I love this record. I love Alex Chilton's rougher more indie take on power pop. Definitely listen to all three Big Star records, they're fantastic. (Also listen to Chilton's solo debut Like Flies On Sherbet. Everyone hates it because it sucks but its also secretly actually really good. But it does suck tho. Like in a good way.)

On Universes Beyond
I think there are two huge issues behind the normal Magic fan whining when it comes to Universes Beyond.
First, there's the fact that Magic is almost thirty years old, and this is the first major push toward using the game as a vehicle for licensed tie-ins. There's a lot of resistance to it based on decades of precedence. Fans are accustomed to the MtG team's versions of real-world inspirations like gothic horror, Greek mythology, and Japanese cyberpunk. Throwing literal Optimus Prime into the same exact game as a Voltron-inspired card feels like it's diluting what fans already love about the design.
A side note to this one is that there are lots of properties that fans don't want to engage with at all. The Walking Dead is brutal, and Warhammer even moreso. Magic traditionally doesn't cross into the levels of gore and violence that some of these things do. Other properties like Doctor Who are more science-fiction than some fans really want in their fantasy game (though I'd argue the game has always had scifi elements, and that most scifi properties aren't as devoid of fantasy as people seem to think).
Second, there's the fact that it shines a light on how bad the demand for some cards is, and how WotC often fails at reprinting cards enough to accommodate the players. To a certain extent, all Magic capitalizes on FOMO, urging players to get the cards while they can, before they shoot up in price on the secondary market after they realize they need it for a hypothetical future deck. By making unique cards that are obtained in new and less common ways than most other cards, it can feel like Wizards is forcing fans to purchase products they might not have otherwise. There's a feeling like it's a second Reserved List, which is something that people are terrified about.
As for both of these reasons, I don't personally feel that way, but I understand them. Universes Beyond is doing nothing Magic hasn't done in the past (or wouldn't have done, had it had the resources), and arguably is taking the game places that it should have gone a long time ago.
I love that we're getting a Lord of the Rings set, that we've gotten two whole Dungeons & Dragons sets (though I think those are being treated as crossovers more than licensed tie-ins), and that they're actively exploring bringing my favorite characters and franchises into my favorite game.
Do I hate that TWD and WH40K cards exist now, and that I may one day have to play a match with them in it? Sure. I despise those properties. You know who doesn't? My best friend who's finally interested in the game now that Rick Grimes can be his commander. That's a win for me, no matter how much I may dislike zombie soap operas. And now that he's interested in playing a Chun-Li card, I can introduce him to Narset.
In fact, my only issue is with the absolute glut of product we've been getting over the past few years, and the associated product fatigue. Seriously, let us rest our wallets a bit!
Magic is a game that's always changing. Faster now than it has in the past, for sure, but in ways that make it more appealing to new players. I have concerns over how much they can add to the game before they're forced to slow down, but ultimately, this doesn't seem like WotC is trying to squeeze every penny out of its existing fanbase in a desperate cash grab. If anything, it feels more like it's rushing to catch up with what it could have been all along.

So, I've began some research on BPD and it seems have some of the symptoms, but I don't experience splitting, my mood swings are tempered by the embarrassment (as in, I hide them because I fear being labeled as overly emotional or apathetic, because i've been told so in the past) and my fear of abandonment/rejection is attached to specific people, not my family. Can you have a diluted version of BPD where you don't have all the symptoms? I don't want seem to like an edgy teenager.
Hey there,
I know from personal experience how easy it can be to do some research into possible diagnosis’ we may have or be suffering from but I also know from personal experience how dangerous and unhelpful this can also be.
I say this because yes, you could have BPD or a form of it, but the symptoms that you are experiencing may also be from another mental health condition that you are yet to be aware of. This is why it is so important to seek professional help and advice from your local doctor or GP and discuss your symptoms with them. And yes, they may not have all the answers you are looking for like a definite diagnosis but they will be able to refer you onto someone who will be able to help you and support you if you would like and are requiring this.
I like to think of symptoms of a diagnosis like an umbrella that sometimes joins with other umbrellas depending on the sharing of symptoms of a different diagnosis. And when a single umbrella shares the relevant symptoms to warrant a diagnosis it draws to the handle of the umbrella which includes possible help/ support or therapies that could possibly help the person to better understand, live and deal with the disorder if that makes sense?
This is why it is so important to be correctly diagnosed by a professional so that they can offer the best treatment/ therapy options out there for you!
I really hope that this has helped a bit and please do let us know if we can help to support you in any other way!
I’m thinking of you and hope that you are going well!
Take care,
Lauren

Pandæmonium: Abyssos thoughts/reactions
I haven’t typed up my thoughts on something like this since Werlyt, which goes to show the kind of way I’m feelin’ about it
Going into Abyssos I was really worried I wouldn’t like it... Asphodelos brought up some of my “oh, I really like Elidibus” feelings but in general I don’t have a massive attachment to any of the Ascians or Ancients asides from Lahabrea. So when Asphodelos threw some wrenches in with Erichthonios, being a “bad” father, Athena, I wasn’t sure if I would vibe with him..? I was really nervous they’d overly rely on twists and that it would dilute what should be Lahabrea’s The Dying Gasp/Seat of Sacrifice moment, y’know? I just wanted him to get the emotional closure that Emet and Elidibus did
And when I didn’t get attached to Elpis in the same way others did, this sort of felt like Endwalker’s last chance to really sell me on the Ancients past my initial story experience. It had a lot of pressure on it’s shoulders :(
BUT I REALLY LOVED ABYSSOS, I AM SO RELIEVED
Tumblr media
- I’m glad Lahabrea is Hephaestus (Hephaistos? I need to get used to that) but we still got a twist..? I guess we don’t know how it will impact the future but it’s very interesting that he basically Sundered himself before Sundering was really a thing. I get the impression that his little lobotomy incident is going to have an impact on how he went off-kilter after the actual Sundering..?
- I call it a lobotomy as a joke but it’s actually so upsetting to think that if it does have a longlasting effect/come back to bite him in the ass... that he really did go through with that, admitting he was terrified to do so, in the hopes it would be for the best
- man
Tumblr media
- The “...Say my name.” moment was so badass and I am so glad that not only did the Elidibus enjoyers get their moment, that it was as slick as it was. I really do love Themis a lot, and I was really glad that him and Lahabrea were proper colleagues
- The mention of Emet and Igeyorhm noticing the change in him was nice in both a “worried about him” way but also it kind of reminds me of Thancred in ARR
- I’m glad we could mention Thancred in a dialogue choice
- And speaking of me seeing all of this through my bias-tinted glasses, he really did end up with the Gaius vibe? Viewing this person who we suffered at the hands of through a different lens, seeing their attempts at having a good heart get ruined by their terrible actions. The WoL barrelling through the door ready to fight them, only to skid to a halt when confronted with a terribly sad and pathetic old man living with his regrets. WoL is understandably so bitter and on edge at the start, but like Werlyt, by the end is smiling and making little jokes
- man
- So Hephaestus of mythology is typically depicted as being lame/physically “deformed” or “ugly” and I feel like they kind of leaned into that with how Hephaistos looked compared to the older Lahabrea? To the degree I was kind of uncomfortable at first because he was obviously being painted as the crazy/evil/ugly version of an otherwise very classically attractive/sane guy, the way Lahabrea calls him all the parts of himself he is ashamed of... with the context of Hephaestus essentially being physically disabled in a way that is meant to be seen as grotesque, I was fearful it was gonna be lowkey ableist, but I think with the way things went, it wasn’t too bad. I think the first few shots of him were super unflattering on purpose, but when you saw him in the context of younger Lahabrea later on, he looked more like him and less like something that was meant to be jarring and negative. I dunno, it’s something I’m thinking about
- Like why does Hephaistos not have eyebrows, but Lahabrea does...
- Anyway,
Tumblr media
- I CAN’T BELIEVE HE IS MAX HEIGHT... I even went to check the heights of the Elpis cast and he is the only one who is max height. I’m feeling so normal about it
Tumblr media
- HEUGH
Tumblr media
- I was pleasantly surprised at how much they mentioned Azem? It confirmed that Azem does know about us, which is absolutely fascinating and a lot of room for thought. I liked Lahabrea acknowledging them too, because that still fits in nicely with what I had in mind for mine :)
Tumblr media
- I’m in bits, I’m sorry, just look at him
Tumblr media
- I love this moment SO MUCH, the hostility is there briefly on both sides but Lahabrea immediately backs down like “no, you’re right”
Tumblr media
- I got kind of emotional seeing him and Themis help us with the platforms in P7!! The chain motif and him being midway between sincere and rolling his eyes about it is very charming
- I really loved Hegemone and Agdistis... their music was incredible and they had the two most fun fights. I’m gonna have a lot more thoughts on them once I’ve worked through the immediate Lahabrea on the brain
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- The first thing in the post-ShB world that really gripped me about Lahabrea was how the NPCs in Amaurot and Anyder talked about how loved and highly respected he was. So this got me in the same way, as did the mention of the rest of the Convocation being worried... people really did love him
Tumblr media
- The way he can’t even look her in the eye as she passes on, but gives a simple thank you. I don’t know, I found it very fitting and poignant. I think this is where my heart started to break a bit
Tumblr media
- NOT SURE WHAT I’M FEELING, BUT I SURE AM FEELING IT
- The Hephaistos fight... it was basically everything I wanted from a Lahabrea fight in this raid series LAUGHS... The fire imagery cranked up to 11, and I was dying for a remix of Thunderer because that’s the OG Ascian theme in my eyes. The other Ascian motifs were cool too
- My only concern was that it was too perfect but was ultimately not the big P12 Dying Gasp/Seat of Sacrifice finale... I wonder what P12 will be. I want to assume some kind of Athena/issue arising from re-combining Laha and Hephaistos, but my dream is something to do with “our” Lahabrea from the present
Tumblr media
- You can see the resemblance best here, and I think in this scene they dial back on the shadows on Hephaistos’s face that had me worried they were going for “ugly on purpose”... he is in fact handsome too
Tumblr media
- I don’t have much to say here I just think he’s very handsome
Tumblr media
- AUGHHH this scene was good. I mentioned it before but I like the angle of “overworking and over-analysing relationships” they’re taking with him because it does feel like a nice parallel to Thancred
- I’m so curious about Athena... I do like her if she simply is as she’s presented at face value. I guess you could see it as kind of [wiggly hand motion] how they tried to make her out as pure evil bitch who wronged poor poor innocent Lahabrea, but I’m here to support women’s rights and women’s wrongs, y’know? I am fascinated to see if there’s more to it though, so I’m happy either way. I did want her to have possibly just girlbossed too close to the sun, so I’m happy she was twisted in the end
- The nods to the Ascian Prime stuff was really neat. The “I am become you, and we are become one” dialogue that Laha and Igeyorhm have in Azys Lla
- Not sure why Athena was white tho. The melanin went missing along with the eyebrows
Tumblr media
- This was sweet because it really was the “smiling at Gaius at the end of Werlyt” energy. I can’t believe Albi would ever make such a sweet face over Lahabrea. Not forgiving, not forgetting, but finding a nice small moment of cheer at the end of the day
Tumblr media
- This is the line that got me really misty eyed. It was nice recognition that Hephaistos is Lahabrea, and a nice moment for Erich
- I really, really love Erichthonios now. I wasn’t sure where I stood on him in Asphodelos? I had such a shaky experience with Endwalker, and spoilers, and my expectations, but the father & son dynamic panned out really well :) He is now in the same soft spot in my heart as Ryne and Allie
- I got his minion on my second run so I’m happy about that too
Tumblr media
- I just really like this
Tumblr media
- This is cute, too
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- I AM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED TO BITS ABOUT THIS. My biggest wish for Pandæmonium was that it would tie back to present day; for me, delving into Lahabrea wouldn’t have the same emotional impact for me if it didn’t. To bring it back to Emet and Elidbus’s last moments, it’s their histories with us as Unsundered that give those characters their impact? So seeing Pandæmonium itself now tied in with the aetherial sea, mentions of the crystal wanting to be made whole again, and then mentions of the Sharlayan professor going missing in Azys Lla has me really excited... I don’t really mind what MacGuffins they use to bring back “our” Lahabrea, but I want it to wrap up with us making peace with all the different iterations of him. I think that would do him the most justice, narratively for the player, and for the WoL.
- So overall, I am very pleasantly surprised. I like what they’re doing with Lahabrea, and I feel so engaged with this story now, in the way I had been missing since Werlyt/Bozja/Omega felt like they were for me, you know?
- I’m feeling so heartbroken over the whole “a calm heart stays the course” thing and seeing all these facets and fears to Lahabrea... what feels like reconciliation between him and his own identity, with Erich, but knowing there’s another tier to go, plus the Sundering. It has a good impact
- I was also gunning on this to help me get the vibe right for my Azem. I’ve struggled with their design for so long, and while this didn’t really include them + my Azem has a foundation away from Lahabrea, it did still help inspire me!
- I can’t believe I have to wait 8 months for the finale
Tumblr media
- I also can’t believe a part of Lahabrea canonically said “Hehe.”

WHEN YOU’RE STRANGE
Opening this weekend:

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness--On the one hand, I'm a little over the Marvel "Multiverse." On the other hand, this newest adventure of Marvel's mystical mage is a lot of fun.
For those who may be unacquainted with this conceit in the "Marvel Cinematic Universe," I'll summarize as best I understand it: The Multiverse is the premise that our reality exists alongside countless concurrent realities in other dimensions, complete with other versions of ourselves and the people we know, including our favorite superheroes, and that many of these alternate realities are similar, but none are quite identical. When we dream, according to this movie, we're really experiencing a taste of the lives of other versions of ourselves.
The Multiverse has already played a major role in two previous entries, 2018's dazzling animated flick Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where it was wittily used to explore racial, gender and other variations on comic book themes, and last year's Spider-Man: No Way Home, where it was used as an amusing excuse to mingle the actors and situations from various "reboots" of the franchise. In both cases, it was also a spoof (and a servicing) of the familiar, OCD nerd need to make every "canonical" version of a pop culture franchise at least technically consistent with every other version (Star Wars and Star Trek fans sometimes demand this too).
Enjoyable as both of those earlier movies were, I'm afraid that the Multiverse has the effect, for me, of diluting the dramatic stakes. Death has always been negotiable in superhero stories, of course, but in Multiverse-heavy yarns, major characters--iconic characters--are killed off, or lose their heroic status, and it doesn't feel like it matters that much, because there's an apparently endless and easily accessible supply of replacements from other Universes.
Thus I don't know how sustainable the Multiverse gimmick is for me; even though I greatly enjoyed the original 2016 version of Dr. Strange, I went to this sequel a little grumpily. It turned out to be a  non-stop, vigorously imaginative blast.
This time the surgeon-turned-sorcerer Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is called away from the wistful experience of attending the wedding of his ex (Rachel McAdams) to come to the defense of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), a teenage girl who has innate magical powers she can't control. She's pursued by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who for some reason needs the kid to obtain a book that will allow her to steal the life, including two little boys, of a suburban-mom version of herself in another Universe (all of this is related, I understand, to a Marvel TV show called WandaVision that I haven't seen). Strange and his allies attempt to prevent this; tentacled Lovecraftian abominations interfere with his efforts.
Or something like that. Big-name Marvel characters from other franchises turn up, sometimes in new versions, sometimes in versions we've seen. Epic surreal action scenes leap giddily from Universe to Universe. And if you sense more than a nod or two to the Evil Dead flicks, it probably won't surprise you that the director is Sam Raimi, back after a hiatus from directing features. His wild headlong style is as exhilarating as ever, as is his flair for macabre slapstick, and both are splendidly abetted by a driving score from Danny Elfman.
Cumberbatch plays Strange with his usual old-school movie star suavity and aplomb, and Gomez is charming as America. The standout in the cast, however, is Olsen, who keeps her voice down and makes Scarlet Witch intimidating, but also poised and glamorous, with a strong undercurrent of the sorrowful.

Botox Injections: Treatment, Recovery & Side Effects | Kosmoderma
Tumblr media
The desire to look young and beautiful is eternal. With this desire as a guiding light, several treatments have been developed in the cosmetic and beauty industry. Botox is one such prominent treatment method used to battle the signs of ageing. It is a non-surgical way to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines. If you are thinking about getting Botox to refresh your look and go back in time, you should be aware of the side effects, recuperation time, and treatment methods. We will explore all aspects of Botox in this extensive post, including how it functions and what to anticipate before, during, and after the surgery.
Understanding Botox- What Is Botox And How Does It Work?
“Botox” is a brand name for a neurotoxin, botulinum toxin. This neurotoxin is produced by the Clostridium bacteria. It is a diluted and refined version of the toxin that is suitable for both medical and cosmetic applications. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Botox for a number of medicinal and cosmetic uses.
Botox works by temporarily paralysing or relaxing particular muscles in the treated area. In order to stop muscle contractions, it works by obstructing the impulses that travel from neurons to muscles. A smoother, more youthful appearance is achieved when the targeted muscles are relaxed, which reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles in the skin layer above.
Dynamic wrinkles are the main focus area of treatment with Botox. These are the result of long-term, repetitive facial motions. Crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines are common examples of these.
The Botox Treatment Process
Botox is a minimally invasive, quick procedure that is often referred to as the ‘lunch-break job’. It is usually done at the doctor’s clinic, and you can go back home or to work immediately after.
Consultation
Make an appointment for a consultation with a licenced healthcare provider, such as a plastic surgeon or dermatologist, prior to receiving Botox treatments. The doctor will examine your skin, talk to you about your issues, and decide if Botox is the best course of action for you at this visit. Together with giving you an estimate of the number of units required for your therapy, they will also go over the possible dangers and advantages.
Preparation
Botox injections require very little preparation. To lower your chance of bruising in the days before your appointment, you might be told to abstain from alcohol and blood thinners. During the consultation, let your provider know about any allergies, prescription drugs, or underlying medical issues.
The Injection Procedure
Getting a Botox injection is a quick and painless process. The Botox solution will be injected straight into the targeted muscles by the practitioner using a tiny needle. The particular area being treated and the severity of the wrinkles will determine how much Botox is administered and how many injections are necessary. The procedure takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. The common areas treated by Botox include the following-
Forehead lines, the horizontal lines on your forehead
Glabellar lines, the vertical lines between your eyebrows
Crow’s feet, lines that radiate from the corners of your eyes
Bunny lines, lines on the side of your nose
Smile lines, the wrinkles that appear when you smile
Neck bands, line on your neck
Post-Injection Procedure
After the injection, you can usually get back to your regular activities right away. Botox treatments require very little to no downtime. But for a few hours following the injections, you should refrain from massaging the treated area, lying down, or engaging in strenuous exercise.
The Recovery Period
Recovering from Botox treatment is uneventful. The downtime is minimal. However, you need to keep in mind certain things, which will be explained to you once the procedure is complete.
Immediate Effects
The results of Botox treatment are immediate. You will be able to see visible changes almost immediately after the procedure. However, it will take about two weeks for the full effects to be visible.
Results And Maintenance
The results of Botox treatment are immediate. You will be able to see visible changes almost immediately after the procedure. However, it will take about two weeks for the full effects to be visible.
However, these results are not permanent. They usually last three or four months, after which wrinkles may emerge and muscular function gradually resumes. Make routine Botox visits if you want to keep the desired effects. Some people discover that the effects last longer over time, enabling them to go between treatments for extended periods of time.
Botox injections can occasionally have unexpected side effects, such as a frozen or unnatural appearance. Usually, an untrained professional or over-injection causes this. It emphasises how crucial it is to select a licenced and experienced practitioner.
Possible Side-Effects Of Botox Treatment
Though rare, there are some potential side effects that will be explained to you at the start of the procedure. These side effects are minimal and usually subside on their own in a couple of days. You may experience the following-
Mild redness, which resolves in a couple of hours
Bruising, which may take a few days to subside. This can be well-concealed with make-up
Swelling around the treated area, which subsides in a day or two
Tenderness in the treated area
Mild headache which resolves in a couple of hours
Drooping eyelids can happen in rare cases where the toxin migrates to adjacent areas. This usually resolves in a few days
Less common complications include infections, allergic reactions and ptosis (a persistent eye droop). These complications necessitate medical intervention.
The Right Candidate For Botox Treatment
Botox is safe and ideal for anyone seeking relief from wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of ageing. You are an ideal candidate if-
You are between 18 to 65 years of age
Have realistic expectations from the treatment
Do not have allergies to botulinum toxin
Are in general good health
Botox is not for you if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or if you have any medical condition that contradicts the use of the toxin.
A thorough assessment with a qualified medical practitioner will help determine your eligibility for Botox.
Botox injections, which provide a quick and efficient means of reducing wrinkles and giving the illusion of younger skin, have completely transformed the field of non-surgical cosmetic operations. Botox has gained popularity as a treatment for people looking to revitalise their appearance because of its short recovery period and low risk.
It is important to know about the procedure, recuperation time, and any side effects before getting Botox. The first and most crucial step in guaranteeing a positive and secure Botox experience is selecting a trained and experienced practitioner. You may confidently enjoy the benefits of Botox, knowing that you are taking the required steps to attain a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance by adhering to post-treatment protocols and being informed of potential problems.

Mobile Marketing: You Can't Ignore It Any More
One important thing about mobile marketing is that you need to present your material in a unique manner if you want to grasp their attention and lock them in. If you want to get started or improve your current marketing plan, then this article is what you need to read. Be sure to advertise your mobile marketing options via other communication channels such as social media sites, print campaigns and your web site. With the tremendous volume of mobile applications and trends available to customers, directing them to your mobile options may be the difference between them signing up and not knowing it is an option. A key tip for mobile marketing campaigns is to restrict the quantity of offers transmitted to your list. Distributing offers too frequently dilutes the sense of urgency you might otherwise be able to create in the minds of subscribers. Generating a sense of scarcity encourages your targets to take advantage of offers each time they are presented to them. Use your message recipient's real name. People like to feel important and recognized, and adding their real name to any messages you send out will give them those feelings. Making your customer feel like you are personalizing messages to them is a great way to make them feel welcome to your business. When creating advertising for the mobile web, you must ensure that the content is compatible with a majority of different mobile browsers. This is important to consider because you do not want to inadvertently restrict customers from being able to view your content. Stick with the major phone manufacturers and double check to see if there are any restrictions that the service providers may have in place. Keep your text messages, social network posts and e-mails brief and concise. If the message is too long, people tend to dismiss it immediately. The message shout be short, urgent and contain a call of action. It should not be a quarter page ad, but instead a short message aimed to alert consumers of discounts or promotions. Even if someone subscribes to your messages, they may still want to unsubscribe for whatever reasons, so make it easy for them to do so. In every single message that you're sending out via mobile marketing, make sure you're including an unsubscribe link so that people can opt out if they choose. Your mission statement will help you design the best campaign possible. Having a set of rules you abide to will help you avoid making any dishonest decisions. Be sure that you understand that a mobile site is not just a scaled-down version of your business, but it's actually a summarized version. Many mobile marketers make the mistake of attempting to scale down their entire business and ultimately end up losing customers. You do not need to create two separate businesses here. When you email your customers, you want to specifically ask them for their cell phone number. Tell 누누티비 바로가기 that if they give this information you will be able to text them discounts, news about a product and any other important announcement that your company has going on. If they consent to this, they will give you their number. Be sure to send text messages. People usually have a ringer that will go off whenever they receive a text. They also tend to check it right away. Just make sure to send small files such as photos of a new product that you have available, thus allowing the customer the option of receiving texts or not. Consider adding advertising to your website that specifically built for the mobile environment. Your traditional web banners are not going to cut it on a mobile device. In fact, if you have optimized your site for a mobile experience, those banners are no longer even visible. There are a lot of great mobile advertising platforms out in the market, including AdMob, iAd and MobClix. Investigate them and choose the right one for you. To summarize, the implementation of your mobile marketing plan is one of the key factors. You only have the attention of your audience for a split second before they may turn elsewhere. Ideally you will be able to take all of the advice provided in this article and use it to build the perfect mobile based marketing model.
