reading tdr for the sake of being able to talk about it and i think its fucking insane (extremely derogatory) that megfitz keeps trying to hamfist a story about gentrification using a guy known for having a richass family and BEING rich himself moving into a run-down community. and then being like oh he doesn't have much (he's a millionaire) oh he just doesn't have other places where he belongs (he is literally adopted by fucking bruce wayne) this rich white boy definitely belongs in this community of impovrished poc and is the perfect vehicle for me to talk about gentrification. right.

fuck, man. just read nightwing vol. 2 #93 and it really is exactly as horrible as everyone says.

and it's released the same month as outsiders 2003 #12, where helena leaves the team, with these parting words to roy:

even before this he was blaming himself for donna's death and trying to self isolate. and roy has spent the last three months off the team to recover from getting shot in the chest a bunch, so he hasn't been around to clock just how bad dick's mental health has gotten and try to pull him out of it. of course he isn't letting himself get close to anyone.
