I just finished reading create a simp and I loved it!! I was wondering though why everyone forgot about her streaming career??

the reason why nobody remembers yn’s streaming career is half due to an internet hoax and to yn’s final stream.

in yn’s final stream, she announced how unhappy she was as a streamer and how she wishes she could move on from it without it following her around. most of her fanbase, because of the news and how drained she looked) agreed to just let her go and all agreed to just pretend she never existed (a final act of kindness to their internet gf) a few months went by and that, surprisingly, worked out. (some internet partners still currently gaslight people who bring up yn until they delete their posts)

the internet hoax, however, got the rest of the general population that knew of yn (remember she wasn’t super big) to think that she died 😀

so the people that know of yn either think she’s dead or are giving her freedom to move on from the public eye in peace.

tldr; internet is kind and evil at the same time to yn, so she exists but doesn’t to some and is dead to others.

Tbh I just really hate people that make me care for them and then turn around and make me suffer by watching themselves willingly put themselves through hell. They think they don’t deserve love. They think they don’t deserve to exist. They think they don’t deserve to be happy. They take my love for them and just throw it back in my face. They take the time and effort I put into them and basically say it means nothing. Their addiction to their misery means more to them than me.

My sympathy can only go so far. I only can care so much. Why should I save someone that repeatedly throws themselves into the fire?

But I will because I love them. And because of that, I hate them.

doctor who coming back in the year of 2023 when terfism and biological essentialism and transphobia are on the rise and making one of THE most hyped up episodes by bringing back fan favorites david tennant and catherine tate. all about being trans

showing rose being bullied and her grandma struggling to get it right but still being supportive. and shaun and donna being the greatest parents by being ready to burn the world down to protect their daughter. the doctor asking for the meep's pronouns AND IT'S NORMAL???

and all of that is brilliant to see rose as a trans character and it is important to the narrative. BUT THEN. ROSE BEING TRANS SAVES DONNA'S LIFE BY TAKING HALF OF THE METACRISIS. BECAUSE THE DOCTOR IS MALE AND FEMALE AND NEITHER AND MORE. AND THAT IS INTEGRAL TO DOCTOR WHO AS A WHOLE. and it saved donna's life

to see doctor who be so BLATANTLY trans and nonbinary at the core of the series. the multiple references to the fact that before fourteen, thirteen was a woman. so to see this? trans people stay winning. thank you doctor who for doubling down on the importance of the doctor being trans because oh my god I am so emotional about this

correct me if i’m wrong cos i don’t watch dune.. but i’ve seen people call paul a tragic character. except isn’t he a whole white coloniser tricking indigenous poc into believing he’s a prophet to serve his own interests? that’s inherently evil that cannot be a tragic character imo

so yes that is correct that is what happens. the tragedy is that he is a sixteen year old boy who gets a vision of this happening and he is TERRIFIED and absolutely does not want this to happen at all. He does not want the holy war he does not want to be the chosen one he initially very much wants to fight alongside the fremen as equals trying to liberate themselves from their current colonizer without becoming the messiah because they have common political cause.

And then the entire second half of the first book (and the second movie) are about the concessions he makes to himself bit by bit by bit (well it’s the only way to save his mom and sister. well it’s the only way to prevent nuclear war. well he does want his revenge. well maybe he IS special.) Until by the end he has lost 100% of his humanity, fully wants to be the messiah and is willing to manipulate people into thinking so, and has declared himself duke of arrakis in his father’s name and made a play for the imperial throne.

you’re right that it’s evil. the book and these movies agree with you. the tragedy is watching a child who desperately wanted to avoid this slowly completely lose himself to it anyways. i don’t think “tragic” and “evil” are inherently mutually exclusive.
