Lecture for Day Five of Dreamling Week

It starts with a call.
Hob’s phone buzzes against the nightstand once, twice, thrice before he startles from his slumber. Morpheus’s arm is flung across his chest, fingers digging into his sides as Hob shifts. He leans over, stretching a hand out to pick up his cellphone. Hob chuckles as Morpheus groans and nuzzles his face into his side. He picks up the phone, pressing the far too bright green button on the screen and sets the device against his ear.
“’llo?” He answers, voice gravelly with sleep.
“Hello, is this Mr. Gadling speaking?” a woman’s voice chimes in his ear. There’s background noise, people talking urgently in the distance. Hob frowns.
“This is he.”
“My name is Sarah, I’m a nurse here at St. George’s hospital. Your sons, Robyn Gadling and Orpheus Gadling just arrived here about half an hour ago.”
Hob’s stomach drops. He sits up, heart racing in his chest. One hand reaches out and snags Morpheus’s arm shakily. A million scenarios race through his mind. A car wreck? They’d just gotten their own cars, finally. Did they go for some late-night joyride? Did they sneak out and someone tried to mug them? Or worse, did one of them try to . . . he knows Orpheus had been having a hard time with school and friends lately . . . but surely he wouldn’t have tried . . . he’s been doing better, he said he was doing better? Why weren’t they home? Where did they go? Oh god, is it fatal? Are his boys alive?
There are tears streaming down his face. He’s vaguely aware of Morpheus’s voice calling to him, frantic, his husband’s hand shaking him gently, but worriedly. The nurse’s voice calls out to him. Hob blinks, the world getting clearer as the stuck tears fall. He takes in a shuttering breath.
“Fuck, sorry. Are . . . are they okay? What happened?” he manages, finally. Hob turns to Morpheus, blue pleading eyes meet his. Hob just pulls him closer, tucking his husband’s head under his chin.
“Your one son, Orpheus, is fine. He was drunk still when the ambulance arrived, but not to a degree we were concerned about. He was the one to call 999. Your other son, Robyn, had a blood alcohol content of .38 percent—” Hob’s heart stops “—He’s okay, at the moment, and we predict he’ll be fine after spending the night. It’s a good thing his brother had called us, though. Much higher and it could have been fatal.” He lets out a strangled breath as he holds Morpheus tight. He can feel his husband’s arms wrapped around him equally tight. Hob bets he could hear the nurse from how close they are.
He clears his throat before talking. “Okay . . . okay, thank you. Thank you for calling. We’ll be down there immediately.” Hob hears the nurse say something—probably a farewell of some sort—as he lets his cellphone slip from his hand onto the bed. They both stay there for a moment, Hob’s heart still racing in his chest.
“Hob?” Morpheus’s voice says quietly in the silence of their bedroom. “Would you like me to drive there?”
And it’s then that his brain decides it can’t hold back tears anymore. The image of his son, of his Robyn, lying in a hospital bed, not even eighteen yet, wrecks him. It’s worse knowing just how close it could have been to him lying in a mortuary drawer instead. And Hob would have slept through it all, not knowing that his world had been destroyed. And now his husband, his wonderful, thoughtful and caring husband who hates driving with a passion, offers to drive because he knows Hob would probably get them in an accident if he’d tried to drive right now. And for some reason that just does it.
He sobs into Morpheus’s shoulder both in fear and in relief. He knows he’ll cry more once he gets there, but Orpheus will be there, no doubt terrified as well, as Robyn too, once he comes to and Hob needs to be strong for his boys, so he has to cry now. He cries, body-shaking sobs, as he clings to Morpheus’s form until the tears finally dissipate and his head clears.
Hob sniffles, rubbing his nose and eyes on his arm. Morpheus’s hand finds his face, thumbs delicately wiping away what Hob missed. His husband leans forward and presses a kiss to his forehead, gentle and sweet, before sliding out of the duvet and walking to the closet to fetch them both clothes.
The drive to the hospital is a blur. Streetlights pass overhead, lighting the car with shades of golden white at random. The streets are wet. Puddles of green and red and yellow lights reflect out of them. Morpheus is behind the wheel. A duffle bag rests on Hob's lap filled with spare clothes for both of their sons along with water bottles and snacks and phone chargers and anything else they may need.
This is how they handle things, Hob’s come to realize. For most days, when life is simply life, Hob relishes in the minutia of it all, of being prepared and making sure things are going where they need to go and doing what they need to do. It’s a reason he enjoys teaching. The quizzes and tests provide an easy sense of accomplishment with checkmarks and rubrics and set results. Morpheus, usually, works on a more whimsical flow with little structure and whims that easily change to fit what he needs in the moment. Oddly enough, it works well between them. And, it seems, when things like this happen and the worry and stress are too much, all the systems Hob’s build for himself, all routines and structures fall away and he’s left floating like a leaf in the wind.
Had it just been him, had Morpheus not been here, he would have gotten to the hospital, one way or another, but his mind would have been left behind. He’d have been frantic, cut loose, running off emotion and stress. Probably would have turned up without a shirt and still in nothing but his boxers. But Morpheus becomes his structure. He becomes a ship in the ocean that he can cling to against the unpredictable rapids. And his husband navigates it with ease, following steps that in hindsight are obvious, but were previously hidden to Hob.
He does not know how he would survive without him.
They must have parked at some point and Morpheus must have wrangled him from the car because he’s currently staring at his husband’s back, the gray duffle bag slung over his shoulder as he guides Hob by hand down the far too bright hallways of the hospital. The air in the white corridors is chilled and despite the fact that it’s two in the morning (he thinks, at least that was when the call came in), the place is alight with people—mainly nurses. Morpheus stops in front of a room and turns to Hob, tears held firmly in, but still glossed over the surface of his eyes.
Fuck. Hob’s heart sinks. He’s been so lost in his own head he hadn’t even asked Morpheus if he was okay. Hob gives his hand a squeeze and musters up something close to a smile while he can because he knows he’s gonna lose it again once they step foot inside this room and he sees Robyn.
“Are you ready?” Morpheus asks him, eyes trailing over him. Hob takes a deep breath in, holds it, then releases it. He does that once more—advice Morpheus had given him after they’d taken Orpheus to the A&E when he’d bumped his head on the school playset pretty badly and Hob proceeded to freak out. Then Hob nods. And Morpheus is opening the door and leading them both in.
The first thing Hob hears upon entering the room is Orpheus’s raw voice calling for them both. The second is the steady beeping of the heart monitor attached to Robyn. The third is his own voice breaking as he steps closer to the hospital bed.
He stumbles over, feet moving on autopilot, as he collapses at the side of the sturdy bedframe. Robyn’s eyes are shut. There’s an oxygen tube running to his nose and an iv dripping into his arm. His skin shines with sweat, his hair damp, but he’s breathing. And his eyes flutter under his eyelids. And all Hob can feel is the rush of relief as he reaches out and holds his boy’s hand between his own.
Hob rests his head against their clasped hands, head tilted to stare up at his baby boy. There’s anger, brewing beneath all the pain and worry and fear, and Hob knows he’ll need to step away to get the worst of it out before he talks to his sons, but for now, he lets himself float here, in-between emotions where all he needs is his son’s pulse under the tips of his fingers, and to watch the steady rise and fall of his chest.

“Dad?” Orpheus says, voice hoarse from tears and disuse. His wide eyes follow Hob as his husband collapses beside Robyn’s form. Morpheus’s heart clenches in his chest at the sight, feeling helpless. This is not how either of them saw this night going.
He walks over, kneeling beside Orpheus who sits on one of the hospital room’s chairs. Morpheus takes his son’s hands in his own and speaks. “Orpheus, let us give your dad a moment with Robyn and get you into a fresh set of clothes.” His eyes fall down to the soiled shirt Orpheus wears, smelling of cheap liquor and wet from the rain. His son nods, eyes still glued to where the rest of their family rests, but allows Morpheus to gently guide him up and outside of the room.
They walk in silence for a moment, wandering down the brightly lit hallways until they reach a free bathroom. At this late hour, it’s empty. He closes the door behind them with a quiet sigh before setting the duffel bag onto the sink counter. Orpheus stands, watching with a blank expression that Morpheus catches in the mirror, as he fishes out the set of clothes he’d grabbed for him along with the old grocery bag for Orpheus’s old clothes.
He turns, handing the stack over to his son. Orpheus takes them and quietly locks one of the larger stalls behind him. It’s now, while his husband is away and Orpheus is busy, that Morpheus allows himself a small moment to breathe. He grips the counter with his hands and sags against it, chin to his chest. He cannot cry yet, there is still much to be done, but he allows himself a handful of ragged, gasping breaths, silenced only by the noise of the bathroom fan.
The stall unlocks and Orpheus emerges, eyes red from tears. He walks up, bag in hand and sets it on the counter. Morpheus pulls his son tight against his chest and loses the battle as Orpheus sobs against him. Tears fall down his face. He presses his nose into the top of his son’s head and thanks whatever god is listening that the two of them, despite it all, are safe and alive.
They both stay there, Morpheus rubbing his son’s back, whispering gentle words to him, allowing the tears to fall freely between them both. Time passes until he hears a snot-filled sniff against his chest and he feels Orpheus step back and out of his hold. He lets his arms fall, raising one to wipe his own face clean.
“I’m so sorry, father, I—It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I don’t know how it happened, I swear—”
“It’s okay,” Morpheus says, cradling his son’s face in his hands. “It is okay. Breathe.” Orpheus takes a shuddering breath in as he nods. Morpheus sighs as he leans forward and presses a kiss to his son’s forehead.
“You called for help. You got your brother here in time. I am so proud of you for that,” he whispers against Orpheus’s skin. “We will have a further conversation about this, but for now, all I need to know is this: are you okay?”
Orpheus nods, tears welling up in his eyes once again.
“Good. And are those that you were with okay?”
He sniffs, but nods once more. “After Robyn . . . after he passed out, the others got freaked out, so they either stopped drinking or went back home.”
“Good. That is. Good.” Morpheus prays that no other parents need deal with what they are currently experiencing, but he trusts his son’s judgment. Whatever alcohol was in his system, Orpheus seems level-headed now. He takes a breath. The details of the night are less important at the moment. They all will have a lengthy conversation about this later. The main priority now, however, is ensuring that both of his sons are okay, physically as well as mentally.
He wraps his arms around Orpheus once more, giving him a firm squeeze. “Come. Let us check back on your dad.”

Hob sits on the edge of Robyn’s bed when Morpheus and Orpheus return. He turns, eyes raw from tears. He gathers a weak smile onto his face to greet them as they close the door behind them. Orpheus steps forward, but stops, wrapping his arms around himself instead. Hob’s smile falls. He can only imagine how Orpheus is taking all this (now that his brain has come back online to some degree and allows him thought beyond being able to see and feel Robyn). He lifts his arms, spreading them out and Orpheus comes running.
He wraps his arms around his other son, gently rocking him as he holds him close. Orpheus doesn’t cry, not much at least, though Hob suspects he had plenty of time to do so with Morpheus already. He simply sniffles here and there and clings close. Hob meets his husband’s eyes over Orpheus’s shoulder. The room is filled with red eyes and somber tones, the sound of Robyn’s stable and persistent heart-beat and the sniffling noses the only noise.
It’s a few hours later when Robyn opens his eyes. Orpheus lies flat on the bench seating along the window, a thin hospital blanket draped over him. He rests on a pillow Morpheus pulled from his duffel bag—Hob jokingly called him Mary Poppins after pulling that thing out. They sit in chairs dragged closer to the bed, simply watching, Hob’s hand in Morpheus’s.
Hob’s heart skips a beat when brown eyes meet his at 5:09 in the morning. Robyn groans as his eyes flutter open. He stares up at the ceiling, blinking slowly, before gazing around the room. His brows are furrowed and he winces as he moves his head. Then, his son’s eyes find his. They widen, flitting back and forth between him and Morpheus.
“Dad? Father? What—”
Hob jumps out of his chair and is leaning over the bed to wrap his son in a hug (still mindful of any soreness he may have) and prides himself on not immediately breaking down. He hears the creak of the mattress behind him as Morpheus, he assumes, sits on the edge of the bed.
“I’m so happy you’re alive,” Hob whispers into Robyn’s hair, peppering kisses to the top of it as he speaks. “Christ, I’m so happy. I was so worried. Fucking hell, Robyn, never scare me like that again!”
“I didn’t mean to,” Robyn says into Hob’s shirt. He leans back—no longer nearly smothering his son—and sits on the edge closest to him instead. He reaches out and cups Robyn’s cheek, thumb rubbing lightly over the oxygen tube. “Where . . . wait, am I in the hospital?”
“Yeah, yeah you are,” Hob says, glancing over to where Orpheus was laying. Their other son stirs, eyes opening sleepily from the noise. He sees Robyn and quickly sits up, eyes now wide. Hob gives Orpheus a gentle smile before turning back. “You’re lucky you had your brother with you. He’s the one that called 999.”
Robyn’s head snaps to Orpheus with anger. “You called them? What the hell!”
“Robyn!—”
“You were passed out!” Orpheus cries.
“Yeah! Like drunk people are sometimes, I didn’t need to come to the bloody hospital for it!”
“You weren’t responding, I was worried—”
“I thought you had my back!”
“I do!”
“Come on now, boys,” Hob says, looking between the two of them.
“No, you just wanted to get me in trouble with Dad and Father cause you were mad that Eurydice was talking to me the whole night and not you—”
“That is not true!”
“Boys, just stop it!” Hob cries, pushing Robyn back against the bed from where he’d angled himself up to fight with Orpheus.
“It is and you know it! You were jealous that the one person you came to the party for liked me more than you so you wanted to get me in trouble with our dads and so you could look like a hero to Eurydice!”
“Robyn . . .”
“I never should have invited you—”
“Enough.” Morpheus’s voice echoes in the room. Hob turns to see his husband standing in the center of the room, jaw tense, as he slowly looks from Orpheus to Robyn. Hob knows his husband has looks that can kill, but this stare is on another level. Maybe it’s the early morning sun barely peeking through the window, maybe it’s the dimmed hospital lights, but the shadows over his face make him look downright nightmarish.
The boys silence themselves, both looking away from anyone. Orpheus, more hurt than anything. Robyn, still pouting in anger. Hob sighs and slumps back down in the chair. The relief he’d felt seeing Robyn looking around quickly fades into frustration and anger, especially after that fight. He rests his head in his hands and takes a moment to breathe before he starts yelling in return.
“Robyn,” Morpheus’s voice calls. “Your blood alcohol content was .38. Anything .4 and higher is potentially fatal. Had your brother not been there or had anyone not called for help tonight, we would be getting a phone call telling us our son was dead rather than just in the hospital.”
Hob lifts his head in time to see Robyn’s eyes widen in fear. He pales as he turns towards Morpheus. His heartbeat on the monitor jumps.
“. . . what.”
“We could have lost you.” Morpheus steps closer, circling to the other side of the bed and takes Robyn’s hands in his own. “We could have lost you,” he whispers.
Tears well in Robyn’s eyes as he turns back towards Hob and Orpheus. Hob takes a breath and nods. “It’s true, love. Tonight was a close call.”
“Oh.” Robyn visibly deflates and lets himself fall back against the pillows. Morpheus lifts a hand and runs it through his son’s hair. The tender act still sends a warm feeling through Hob’s body, despite the grim circumstances.
“You should apologize to your brother,” Hob says, voice low, the adrenaline and fear of the night now fading away. He’s exhausted, mentally and physically.
Robyn nods and turns towards Orpheus who’s still perched on the bench by the window. “I’m sorry, Orpheus. I . . .” Robyn sighs. “Thank you. For saving me. I . . . I shouldn’t have said all that.”
Orpheus looks down, hands in his lap. He fidgets with his fingers and shrugs with a single shoulder. “’s fine.”
“It’s not, though.”
Orpheus just shakes his head, turning to look back out the window instead. Hob sighs quietly. Clearly this night hasn’t just been tiring for him, but for everyone. Not that he’d ever thought otherwise, mind, but it hurts to see his sons like this. He’d been so grateful at how close they’d been when he and Morpheus got together. They’d truly been best friends, it was a miracle.
He stands, glancing between the two boys then turns to Morpheus who still stands beside Robyn, one hand in his own. There’s something to be said for the language that two people can create between each other. He’d always thought it was a bit of a joke when long lasting couples claimed to be able to read each other’s minds or know what the other was thinking from across the room, but after twelve years of marriage and three years of dating before then, Hob believed them.
Morpheus nods to the question on Hob’s face and turns to grab the duffel bag. He pulls out Orpheus’s old clothes and hands them to Hob before sitting back down in one of the chairs. Robyn watches them as Hob steps close and wraps an arm gently around around his son. He gives him a firm kiss to the forehead before stepping back. “It’s late. I’m gonna get Orpheus home. Your father’ll be here and we’ll be back later, I promise. That okay?”
Robyn nods. “Okay.”
Hob smiles and turns towards Orpheus who’s already standing and holds out a hand. He walks closer, his arms crossed over his chest, and Hob pulls him in for a quick side hug before guiding them towards the door. He stops briefly to give Morpheus a kiss on the cheek and whispers a quiet “thanks, love”. Then, they’re out the door. Hob glances back, looking at Robyn connected to all the tubes and wires and Morpheus beside the bed, blue eyes turned towards their son. Robyn’s words, the first words out of his mouth after waking up in the hospital, come back to mind and the anger bubbles back up. He takes a deep breath and closes the door behind them.

Yes im well aware of what he did and what role the groupie tape had in the trail. No i do not support that man but the idea of groupie was just so cool. This is all fiction < 3. All of that is old shit i wrote 2 months ago when i started to write this then i took a break and now im wondering if i should finish.

A slim, long finger pushes the VHS tape into the player. Click. The tape is in and will begin playing the video shortly.
The 30 minute tape is cut short at 17 mins as the lady on the couch pauses it.
"You can never release this. If this ever reaches the media you will be fucking over. I mean it"
The lady's eyes were filled with fear as she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. The man standing behind her nodded solemnly, clearly understanding the seriousness of her words. He reached for the remote and turned off the TV, the screen going black as the room fell silent. The tape was carefully removed from the player and hidden away; the secret it held was locked tight.
The house is loud. Music is loud as drunk rockers dance with girls and, most likely, high-ranking groupies. A small girl is navigating her way through the crowd of people to the stairs. Your arms are full as you carry a big painting. This would be the day she met her idol. Up the stairs and now in front of a hallway of rooms, you just had to find out which one Hoseok was in.
Knocking on a door to get nothing then opeing another to see a group orgy. Lets act like you didn't see that. Shutting the door quickly your small frame walks over to the next door.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
You open the door to see a man with dark long strands with his nose to a table. He looks up, coke on his nose. Its him. The man on the painting you had.
"Are you Hoseok?" you ask tentatively, trying to keep your voice steady despite the nerves that were starting to build up inside you. The man nods slowly, a small smirk playing on his lips as he gestures for you to come in. You step into the room, your heart racing with excitement and uncertainty, unsure of what is to come next. This was the moment you had been waiting for—the moment when you would finally come face-to-face with the man who had consumed your thoughts and dreams for so long.
The man stands up. His heavy boots hit the crusty and creaky wooden floor boards. He guides you into the room and closes the door behind you.
There is no way you were a groupie. This was no slut. But a girl who could only dream of being a groupie. "sit down" he commands, his deep voice sending shivers down your spine. As you take a seat, you can't help but feel a surge of adrenaline mixed with fear. What did he want from you? Your mind races with possibilities as you wait for him to break the silence and reveal his intentions. But one thing was for certain—you were no longer just a fan, you were in the presence of the man himself, and the reality was both exhilarating and intimidating.
"Are you here to suck my dick?" Hoseok says nonchilantly
his eyes piercing into yours with a mix of curiosity and amusement. Your heart races at his blunt question, unsure of how to respond. You had fantasized about meeting him and being close to him, but you never expected this level of directness. The air between you crackles with tension as you search for the right words and the right way to navigate this unexpected turn of events. Your mind races, trying to process the sudden shift in the dynamic between you.

You feel a wave of shock and embarrassment wash over you as his harsh words hit you like a punch to the gut. The fantasy you had built up in your mind shatters in an instant, leaving you feeling exposed and vulnerable. You struggle to find your voice, feeling small and insignificant in his presence. The weight of his expectations hangs heavy in the air, and you realize that the reality of the situation is far from the dream you had envisioned.

His hand locked on your delicate wrist as he brought his other hand to your face with a loud smack. Cheek red with his hand print, you stand there in shock, unable to comprehend what just happened. His sudden violence sends a wave of fear through your body, and you can feel your heart pounding in your chest.
The pain in your cheek serves as a stark reminder that this man is not who you thought he was. As you struggle to break free from his grip, you realize that the fantasy you had built up in your mind has turned into a nightmare. You gather your strength, and with a newfound determination, you finally break free and run, leaving behind the shattered remains of your once beautiful dream. "Such a fucking slut " he spat. "Coming into my room acting like you didn't come here to take this dick."
"You think guys are going to want to fuck you?" His hands are grabbing at your tits through your cotton dress. "Stop!" You scream, pushing him away with all your might. Tears stream down your face as you scramble to get away from him. He overpowers you and keeps grabbing. "You think you're going to get married and have a nice family?" You fight back with all the strength you have left. "STOP!" You scream loudly, but he brings his hand back to your face to shut you up. "Sit down." He pushes you into a leather chair, and you feel trapped and helpless. His words ring in your ears, and his hands are still lingering on your body. You know you have to get out, but fear paralyzes you.
He brings rope to you, and before you know it, you are tied down to the chair , unable to move or escape. Tears stream down your face as you realize the severity of the situation.
The feeling of helplessness weighs heavily on you as you struggle against the restraints, but deep down, you know you must stay calm and think of a way to free yourself. Your mind races with thoughts of how to outsmart him and break free from his hold, but the fear of what he might do next keeps you frozen in place. It's a battle of wills, and you know you have to find a way to survive this terrifying ordeal.
Hoseok turns away to grab his pill bottle, emptying the lat 2 in his hand. "Open your fucking mouth." As he approaches you with the pills in hand, a sense of dread washes over you. You know you cannot consume whatever is in those capsules, but you also know that refusing him might lead to consequences you cannot bear to think about. With a deep breath, you muster the courage to speak up, "I won't do it.”
His eyes meet yours with a mixture of anger and disappointment, but you stand your ground, determined to fight against his control. In that moment, you realize that survival means more than just physical escape; it also means holding onto your own agency and resisting his attempts to break you. His strong hand grips your mouth and forces your jaw open.
You scream and scream, but he shoves the pills in. His pretty finger is pushing down your throat to make sure you take it , choking and gagging as you struggle against his relentless hold. As the pills slide down your throat, you feel a sense of defeat wash over you. But deep down, a fire ignites within you, fueling your determination to never let him control you again. He started to untie the rope and free you from the chair. He knows you will try to escape him again.

kurapika is a kind and reassuring alpha. he wants his omega to feel the safest when she's with him, to appear as flawless as possible to make her feel sheltered and in good hands.
you don't doubt him at first, kurapika is always smiling brightly. his polite smiles soothes any worry you might have as if he had everything and everyone under control.
he might manipulate you into thinking you're imagining things if you ever get suspicious of him. he's cautious, very careful about what he does and what he says in front of you. nothing would shatter his world more than see his omega wary of him. that would mean that he failed his task at shielding you from anything unpleasant and his thoughts would torture him if it ever had to happen.
kurapika is overly worried about you, you're so frail and innocent, and he knows how mean and scary the world is, especially for sweet omegas like you... which is why he got his hunter licence. kurapika had to be better, to improve himself so much to the point that no harm could be done to you.
kurapika hates unnecessary violence. you often tell him that he's kind and benevolent and that's why you love him so much. he does feel guilty about how brutally he murders all those people who had bad intentions towards you, he's afraid you'll look at him differently if you were to learn about it, but it had to be done. he would never let anything scary come close to you, he's especially vigilant that he's aware how of horribly people are able to treat soft beings like you. he has witnessed it first hand and he dreads the thought of not being capable of protecting you well enough and seeing you hurt.
kurapika is very rigorous about which individual has the right to interact with you. he's always suspicious if you say you're going out with someone or if a random person talks to you on the streets. he fears them corrupting you so much, he'll glare at them, possessively shielding you away from their gaze by putting himself in front of you, eyes red in anger and chasing them away from how powerful his scent gets. the type of scent which makes you feel more vulnerable than usual because of how bad it affects you. those domineering pheromones of him weren't meant for you and he feels so bad you had to spend such an awful moment because of him.
kurapika will baby talk to you, assuring you you don't need to go out to actually be happy. his terror of losing you grows stronger each day and the simple fact of not having you in his vision field is enough to send him into a state you're the only one able to soothe by submitting and baring your nape to him. you wait for him to scent you, all docile, while you feel his respiration calm down.
kurapika monitors you. he started by advising you certain clothes before straight out telling you what to wear. he's the one cooking for you, he can't have his precious omega hurting herself in the dangerous kitchen. he makes sure to feed you healthy meals so you're always in good shape and keep a strong body. he's putting you to sleep at the same hour each day, sometimes forcibly so because of how stubborn you can be. kurapika knows better than a dumbly cute omega like you. you need all your hours of sleep end of story. if you're persistent, he'll either drug your hot beverage with sleeping pills or coax you into agreeing by promising you he'll take you out tomorrow if you comply right now.
kurapika knows how easy it is for him to make you obey and submit, you're his omega and he knows everything there's to know about you.
overall, kurapika is insanely worried and preoccupied about his omega. he wants both your and his world to be about your relationship only, others can get lost honestly. it's fine if you don't love him immediately, his main responsibility is to protect you, you'll eventually come to love that side of him, he's sure of it. for now, all he wants is to be needed and make sure you never experience anything traumatising just like he once did, and keep that sweet and pure mind of yours untouched.

One thing that "bothers" me with paynland(is that how you spell the ship name? I have seen three different varstions sorry) is that I fear it won't be slow progression they seem to need rn.
Like, yeah, I am a multishipper, but I am also aware paynland is likely endgame and I totally understand why! They are so devoted to each other and no matter what other people they love, what paths they take, at the end of everything, they will have each other, when everyone else moves on, in one way or another.
But I really feel like they have a lot to unpack before they are ready for that relationship? They both have traumas, which yeah, everyone does, but theirs clash in a way I fear would make things complicated? Even when we see flashbacks, we see very little of Edwin's life, where he clings only to the events that led to his death and then, of course 70 years of hell. Charles, on the other hand, clings to life. Of how unfair his whole life was, so full of pain and then he died, but he still clings to what he lost. That's why he likes Crystal! She makes him feel the way he could have felt if he got to live.
And Edwin...doesn't quite understand. Not yet, anyway. And I feel like beither Edwin nor Crystal fully understand why Charles is so angry. Edwin reassures him "you are the best person I know" but both he and Crystal calls Charles' anger extreme. Was it tho? We only see Charles get violent when they are threatned as a way to protect them. And I do wonder how the writers will bridge that gap between them. Charles cannot fully give up his violence, because he needs ti be able to protect people he loves and Edwin cannot fully let go of his fear of it, which is understandable due to his time in hell.
Which isn't that much of an issue with friends, but in a relationship? Hm. There is a lot to unpack. Which is why I am kinda hoping we'd get several seasons so they can properly develop. Because Charles and Edwin understand each other so perfectly in some things, can predict what the other will do or need in a dangerous situation. And yet, it took Crystal shaking things up to make both of their buried feelings resurface. Feelings one had to bottle up for over 30 years!
Idk. Maybe I am overthinking it, but I feel like for them to work, they both need to work on accepting themselves-and the things the other hid from them.

In all honesty why do you think Killua made the number two comment to Gon? I feel like he doesn’t realize how messed up that is to say to someone who has gone through extensive trauma trying to prove himself to a father who also put him in “second place” to something he deemed more important. It was hurtful and I don’t see how that can be repaired now. Even if they do reunite Gon is going to just step on eggshells and fear that even one slip up will cause Killua to just leave him again. Idk I just feel like separation wasn’t the solution here. They needed to talk and then stay together. But “taking a break” rarely works out for any relationship. It also sucks that Gon constantly told Killua how important he was to him but Killua NEVER returned this sentiment verbally so Gon’s just stuck thinking he’s a piece of shit who destroyed his most important relationship. Killua really did just say “screw Gon I have Alluka now”.

I don't agree with this interpretation at all; to me, there are a number of complex reasons why Killua made that comment, and I don't think it will destroy their relationship by any means.
This post--In-Depth analysis on the Hidden Reasons behind Gon & Killua's separation scene (ep 147) Why Gon is 'Number 2'--is the best starting point for anyone trying to understand the separation, in my opinion. It's cohesive, uses supporting evidence from the series and demonstrates the careful wording used in the separation, and it makes more sense than any other interpretation I've read of why Killua would make such a comment to Gon. I keep referring back to this post because I truly think it holds keys to understanding the separation that other posts I've seen don't.

In addition to the insight provided in that post--where Killua is trying to put some distance between him and Gon for Gon's safety and well-being, essentially--I also think it's:
a) Partly how Killua is trying to steel himself to leave Gon, by telling himself, Gon, and Alluka that Alluka is his priority for now
b) Part of Killua's campaign of teasing Gon lightheartedly on the topic, to bring it up while at the same time downplaying the emotional effects of what happened between them--because when they're separating is not the right time for them to seriously address it or work through it
I do think the second place comment hurt Gon a little, but...Gon is already aware that he hurt Killua, and after his life was literally saved by Alluka (Nanika), being put in "second place" is not the worst outcome ever, honestly. Plus, it confirms he's still one of the most important people to Killua even after everything that happened between them! Killua is not saying Gon is trash to him now, even though it is a bit of a jab.
I've also said before that I think Togashi had Killua make this comment with awareness that we, as the audience, would be like, "Uh-huh Killua, sure, interesting of you to say this so shortly after you centered your entire life on him for basically the whole series and even seriously considered doing a lovers suicide with this guy..." We're most likely supposed to see it as Killua not being fully honest, even though Alluka does obviously mean a lot to Killua and by necessity she has to be his priority now. Plus, even Alluka herself says she'll give Killua back to Gon after a while. She must have some idea of how much Gon means to Killua, to be so willing to "give him back." I've said this before, but I see this line from Alluka about giving Killua back to Gon as a promise from Togashi to the audience that this isn't forever.
Gon isn't clueless; he knows Killua cares about him even though Killua struggles to express it verbally. The degree of trust and unspoken understanding between them in the dodgeball match is a good (albeit complicated) example of this. The two didn't communicate to the degree they needed to during Chimera Ant Arc, which makes sense because they're young and have their own issues and it was terribly traumatic for both for them, but they also have a good understanding of each other overall, and it's not giving Gon enough credit to assume he has no idea just because Killua hasn't said it. He doesn't know the full extent of Killua's feelings for him, certainly (I hope he will someday!), but he is aware Killua cares about him. Even when it comes to the separation, Killua expressing his pain shows that he still cares about Gon! He's saying that what happened still hurts, because he still cares! He's making light of it, but it's honestly a step in the right direction for him to be discussing it at all. If they can't be honest with each other about how what happened impacted them, they can't heal.
Of course it would be better for their relationship if they talked it out fully and came to some sort of resolution, but neither of them were in a place where they could do that quite yet. Killua is too closed up emotionally and hurting from seeing Gon essentially die in front of him, and Gon needs to recover from essentially throwing his life away and saying those things to Killua that we know he regrets. They do need some time apart to reflect and grow.
Are the two boys in a complicated emotional situation currently? Yes. Do I think this dooms them to never reconnect or heal their relationship? Absolutely not. I see their separation as more of a "We gotta go our separate ways for now because we both have things we have to deal with," (both externally and internally) than anything final. They agree to stay in touch, they express sadness at having to part, they make it clear several times that this is a temporary parting. Why make them clearly unsatisfied with having to part if they're not going to have an opportunity to make things right later?

Driver line ups.
Every year a new there's the traumatizing silly season and every year a new people are complaining and not understanding why certain drivers get signed with certain teams. There’s many thoughts to have over this and with the help of my autism and the horrendous lists i made to compare all the data, here’s the driver line up strategies of the teams and my guess on silly season.
Upfront, a few notes; it’s difficult to compare all the teams because certain teams like Ferrari have decades of knowledge on driver line ups, legacy and money while teams like Haas need to build all that first. Furthermore, team strategies change quite drastically and get influenced by changes in team principals and intern problems the public may not be as aware of, so you are not only allowed but also asked to question anything i say here and comment your own ideas. These are mainly my observations and guesses.
Considering influences, I would like to start with Mercedes. One thing that has been big with the winning teams forever, is their strategy to ‘build’ their drivers and teams. Every team wants to sign drivers for a long time period, because it's easier to win if the team knows each other, plus it's better to have younger drivers because they are more likely to stay with the team and that's how you get drivers like Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes for eleven seasons. Another thing about Mercedes is the fact that they do not take rookies, usually. They take young drivers that have shown to be good with another team and try to keep them for long and since they are generally considered a winning team, they don't have to fear not finding a good second driver (well, they had). This is also the reason why I doubt that they’ll sign Antonelli; pretty likely to see drivers like Tsunoda, if he shows more good results. A few months back I would have said Albon, but many people didn't want that because they feared a repeat. Whoever thought brocedes wouldn’t be brought up here underestimates their influence on the sport. I'm not even talking about all the PR-drama, but the way they almost ruined the team with their crashing into each other, aggressive fighting and miscommunication in the team. It was expensive, stupid and no team wants to deal with that drama, which is why we come to Redbull now;
Red Bull signed Perez for peace. With Webber and Vettel back in the day, they know how teammate rivalries can ruin the team and they want to avoid that, so their bet for the past few years has been; have an outstanding good driver as driver number one, let him win and make all the points and get a solid second driver. Perez is not good enough to become a serious threat to Verstappen, but he also seems to not hold a grudge at that, which works perfectly for Redbull. Sure, they could have signed Sainz, but if you look at Ferrari right now, he tends to drive too aggressively, crash, and redbull does not want to afford that drama, can’t get points if your teammates crash each other out. Another tactic of redbull is the junior team. Redbull doesn’t take rookies either, they go to torro rosso/alpha tauri/RB or whatever they call themselves now and then get upgraded to redbull.
The whole tactic of torro rosso/alpha tauri/RB is the following; get a good rookie driver, let him drive for a year and if he seems to be good, put him into redbull. If he’s bad, drop him. Many young drivers only drove a season at Torro Rosso and were instantly dropped and couldn’t find a new seat, at least that used to be the strategy until they rebranded to alpha tauri first and now Visa cash app RB (i think). Right now, they are more on track to really become their own team. With multiple seasons Ricciardo and Tsunoda, these guys are used to the team, but it poses a problem, because Tsunoda didn’t sign up to build this team; he had assumed to be bumped up to redbull, but since that seat is filled and he doesn’t seem to be able to outperform Verstappen, he’ll leave and RB will be back on their rookie-traumatizing track, probably with Liam Lawson.
A team that does NOT care and just simply decides to not think that much, is Ferrari. Also nicknamed the retirement home for world championship winners, they once again decide to ignore all redflags. Who can blame them, red is their favorite color? Just like all the other good teams, they try to build their teams, only that they are a bit too prestigious in certain cases and usually don’t take rookies, or even younger drivers. They want the best, but Ferrari has been really inconsistent in recent years, so no one who seriously contests for a WDC wants to sign with them if they are already in a good team. They don’t care though, they sign good drivers even if they risk everything by that. It's clear by signing Hamilton; Leclerc is too media trained to say anything mean about Hamilton when they unavoidably crash next year, but they will try to beat each other up behind the garages, probably. It's a difficult situation, deciding which of them gets preferred when it comes to strategy, but if you look at current Ferrari situations, that doesn't bother them. Questionably, when Vaseur needs to mention he has to hold Leclerc and Sainz back from murdering each other, but it's been like this for decades in Ferrari and maybe they hope all the angst will bring out more desperation for wins? I probably will never understand them.
Next big team on our list; McLaren. You should know about me, I love McLaren. Well, that's a lie, I love their drivers and design but I absolutely loathe their team principal and whoever had the idea for their horrendous drivers line up. One of the few things i do respect about their team is the fact that they actually take rookies; they try to build up their teams and they aren't afraid to invest in rookies, as you can see with Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris, but one thing that i absolutely hate about them is their obvious favorite child behavior. To put it clear; if it wasn't a rule, McLaren wouldn't have a second driver. Their line up strategy is basically; ‘let's get a very bright young man as a first driver, build his whole career, get him long contracts, get him his own show whatever. Oh, we need a second driver? Yeah, let's adopt that bastard over there’. The favoritism is actually insane, which is why the second driver often gets replaced pretty fast, but with them signing Piastri, a second rookie, we could see a slight change in their behavior; sure, he wasn't as sponsored by McLaren as Hamilton or Norris were, but it seems clear to me that different than Sainz or Ricciardo he also almost gets the first driver treatment; he’s young and perfect to build the team so they will try to keep him as long as possible, thus having both drivers in their line up actually building up the team, plus they are young, very good and seem less likely to get all too dramatic; maybe one of the reasons they signed Piastri, but i'm not quite convinced it'll stay this way.
Williams is interesting, by their history they should be one of the top teams but they look more like one of the worst teams right now. Williams is sort of Mercedes junior team, they take the rookies for Mercedes which is why I was surprised Albon didn’t go to Mercedes, but as of now it seems that they will keep their rookie program up, so my guess for the future is that they will drop Sargeant and instead focus on building up another rookie like Kimi Antonelli for Mercedes.
Haas is interesting because they are so new, but from the last few years it's pretty clear they also try to build up their team with Magnussen but they struggle with that, since different than the big teams, drivers generally don't want to commit to them and so their team is rather filled with rookies or other drivers that seek to prove themselves in a bad team in hopes of getting signed by one of the actually winning teams, best example for that is Bearman where it’s already clear that if he proves himself he will have good chances for a seat at Ferrari in a few years and who would choose Haas over Ferrari? Haas also cannot afford to get a former good driver and most experienced drivers don't want to stay at Haas, as long as they have better chances elsewhere, so they’ll only sign short contracts considering the Sainz rumors. I think we will most likely see a Magnussen and Bearman line up in the next few seasons and either they manage to proof the team and become a midfield team like Aston Martin or they will slowly turn into the junior team for Ferrari
For alpine, Stake and Aston martin i'm not so sure. These teams went through loads of rebrandings, switches in the team principals and those positions in the last years that i can only guess that they try to copy the winning teams’ strategies but end with a similar fate to Haas, but personally i have to admit i do prefer it this way, since it leaves more spaces open for young drivers, these teams are usually filled with either rookies or drivers that are driving their last seasons before retirement because no other team wants to sign them, it's a good way for younger drivers to get into F1 without being under the insane pressure that teams like torro rosso used to put on their new drivers who knew they'd be kicked if they didn't perform in a season; in these teams, there's more learning from experienced drivers and i assume we could maybe see these teams work their way up in the course of a few years, but for the next season there will maybe be switches between these teams when it comes to drivers but i also have high hopes to see some rookies on here.
In the end, I also have quite a few thoughts on the drivers. We need to focus on new drivers, rookies, because these are getting quite interesting. The current F1 grid is pretty old. I know it’s been a problem for many years, having less rookies, but not a single rookies this season? Come on, and we are at fear of not getting a new rookie for ‘25 either! With F1 becoming more and more expensive it becomes almost impossible to get into F1, no matter how good you are, because signing a rookie is expensive. Let’s compare drivers here; many people are mad about Red Bull signing Checo again, but they underestimate how cheap he is if you compare him to any possible rookie. Sure, Checo gets paid a lot, but he also brings in sponsors and a bunch of merchandise sales; the people love him, you can sell merchandise with him and you don’t need to invest in interviews or whatever to make people like him, he's already popular. Furthermore, he doesn’t need to get accustomed to the car. Yes, he sometimes finishes badly, but it's still a safer call than getting in a rookie that would fail most of his first races because these guys are not accustomed to F1 cars; there's barely any training today, especially if you compare it to years ago. I’m currently reading Lewis Hamilton's biography so I can take him as an example; it's mentioned how much he was able to test the McLaren before his first race, sp obviously he was already used to the car and thus able to have a great first season, while rookies now just get thrown into the cold water. I would argue the teams are also trying to get too young drivers too. If Mercedes really signs Kimi Antonelli you’ll see him crash next year, that boy is barely used to the F2 cars! We all know they try to build their drivers for many seasons, look at Hamilton, but most of the young drivers lack so much experience! Look at Sargeant, a few more years in F2 would have done wonders for him. And i get it, they want to break Max’ and Redbulls records, get the youngest drivers and the next big story but this whole thing is just fucked up. That’s another post though.
On the other hand, F2 comes more and more into focus so I think in the following years we will see more F2 drivers getting big sponsors so the money isn’t that big of a problem anymore. But that’s also for another post!

OK I’ll play. What insecurity visions could Matt torture Bell’s Hells with? Ideas under the cut for length and also trigger warnings for general trauma and awfulness because, after all, it's emotional torture and manipulation:
What can we guess from what we've seen of the first vision?
Well, Chet saw himself as a child murderer/werewolf version of the big bad wolf, so clearly these visions don't have to be based in reality. They just have to be emotionally resonant.
I suspect a lot of the things we all think should be in the visions because they're commonly discussed among fans, won't be. The players are all aware of those issues and Matt knows that, so if the point is to catch them by surprise, he'll have to try other things. I mean, would anyone have had Chet murdering children on their bingo card before s3e97?
I'll still include the obvious stuff in the list below because my silly brain won't move on to thinking about other options until I have those out of the way.
Another thing, that vision both played on Chet's fears and a soft spot for Travis, so we shouldn't be surprised if the other visions also have dual targets.
The visions could target issues and events that happened before the group met to add to the confusion about whether they're real or not.
Regardless how far the visions are from reality, they have the power to convince their target that they're real.
What visions might we get for each member of Bell's Hells?
Chet
His abandonment by his family, maybe showing what he fears might have happened to them.
The possibility of passing along his curse to his friends or other innocent people.
How little he was able to help in the fight that killed FCG, i.e. the curse he embraced to give himself the power to do more and be more actually not being enough to protect the people he loves.
Being old and either dying without leaving his mark or dying alone, abandoned, and forgotten.
Losing his ability to create using wood or maybe create anything period.
Laudna
Delilah, of course. There’s a lot of ways that trauma could be flavored but my guess is a vision of the children of Whitestone dead at Laudna's hands thanks to Delilah's influence.
Seeing herself hanging her friends on the Sun Tree.
A rehashing of Bor’Dor's death and her doing something similar to all her friends or other people close to them. Keyleth perhaps?
Imogen rejecting her, but maybe not over something obvious like Delilah. Maybe something more integral to Laudna herself like her stunted maturity? Maybe showing Laudna a version of her life where she's trapped in place but everyone else gets to grow, change, and live fully rounded adult lives.
Betrayal from within the group. I’d guess Imogen and Team Issylra would feature highly in that if it happens.
Dorian
We already know that the visions will target the fate of Cyrus, taking the slant that Dorian never let Cyrus take responsibility for his mistakes while simultaneously dragging his brother into the consequences of his own mistakes.
Opal losing herself to the Spider Queen and how he could have saved her by taking the crown himself.
Dorian’s cowardice (whether real or imagined) and tendency to run away from problems/complications is probably too obvious, but it could still be pretty juicy to explore.
The potential destruction of the Silken Squall due to the changes in magic and both he and Cyrus not being there.
Alternatively he could see a life in his home where he’s forced to abandon all the elements of himself and his travels that bring him joy. A future of soulless work and obligation, alone and without the outlet of honest self-expression even in your private hours would crack a lot of people.
Fearne
She thinks she is going to be fine but I don't think so. Like we saw with Chet, the visions don’t have to be based in reality to cause harm
She has some abandonment issues from her parents. I wonder if, rather than taking that head-on, the spin will be around her parents “selling” her to Morri for a favor.
The possibility of her father hurting or killing everyone she loves to try to exalt her.
Do people really love her for herself or for who she was manufactured to be? How much trust can she put in their love? Does Nana love her or does she just see Fearne as a useful card to play in her long game of manipulating fate?
Dark mirror Fearne could show up here, but I doubt it since we just had her a few episodes ago.
Fearne has struggled with understanding death. How would she react if all of her friends were gone or turned against her?
Imogen
The most obvious is Liliana/Laudna not loving her enough to choose her over opportunities for power or control.
The call of Predathos and being fated to surrender herself to it.
Watching Laudna lose herself to the point of committing horrors and having to decide whether to fight her or watch others suffer.
Failing at her mission and facing the consequences of all the death and suffering Predathos could cause.
The death of FCG and that, towards the end of the last Otohan fight, Imogen chose to play dead rather than continue fighting.
Orym
The deaths of his husband and father-in-law seem pretty likely but surely Orym/Liam would expect that? Maybe having Will and Derrig guilting Orym about his feelings about Dorian? It doesn't matter that in reality they'd both be happy for him to love again, just that Orym feels he doesn't have the right to want that.
Having to follow through on Keyleth’s order to kill Bell’s Hells if they become a threat.
Choosing not to kill Bell's Hells and dealing with what he fears Keyleth and his family would think about that.
Seeing Whitestone and Zephrah destroyed and Keyleth and Vox Machina killed because he failed to stop Delilah from taking over Laudna.
Something from their Issylra trip. Maybe the assault on the temple? Maybe something to do with Bor'Dor?
Just the idea that he'll never be good enough to save the people he cares about, perhaps featuring FCG, Will, Derrig, and Eshteross.
Becoming someone hard and cold, delighting in his fighting abilities for their own sake. Basically, becoming Otohan.
Ashton
A lot of abandonment issues in Bell's Hells, and Ashton is maybe the worst of the bunch in that area. His vision could be facing his parents and the Nobodies as they tell him how worthless and disappointing he is? Not smart enough. Not charming or kind enough to make real friendships or keep anyone close. Why would anyone want to be around them for long?
But also maybe they're too much? Too angry, too emotional, too violent, too soft. They're both too overwhelming and too reckless. They can't be trusted with fragile things, like other people's lives (featuring FCG, Laudna, and Fearne for extra pain).
I don't think Ashton is jealous in the way a lot of fans try to make them out to be, but I do think they're insecure in their relationships. So he wouldn't begrudge Fearne her poly relationships but might wonder if there's still room for them in all that? They're glad Dorian is back, but does that mean his close relationship with Orym will be discarded now it's no longer needed to help fill that void? Are they only a convenient, temporary fix that their loved ones use until something better comes along?
Maybe something about Issylra, either Hearthdell and Abaddina or what happened to the Hishari?

Malyen's physically careless around Alina. I know mental abuse isn't physical abuse YET, but how far is from this short line- from not thinking she might fall- to not thinking she might hit herself, when he suddenly realises her inside a room full of furniture?
I wanted to yell at him... Yes Alina, send him to Healer! Dr. Mengele's assisstants by day, emasculated man child's caretakers by night. Who needs rest?
I wanted to smash my fist into... Sometimes wanting to hurt your loved one isn't about passion, but helpless anger you won't let yourself act on for fear of losing them.

... except his "common" is popular and faring well. Hers is sickly and dependent on him. How am I belive he is anything but bad FOR her, when he's incapable to admit this?
It's also hilarious he mentions rank, when he hardly acts as her subordinate. That's not only about cold, polite distance, when people can see. As I wrote before- he should be thinking about her safety and how his actions reflect on her.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe you were meant to be a queen and I’m not meant to be anything at all? Yeah, it might be all that romantic media, but if you can't bear the thought she might be a goddess to your speck of dust, perhaps you don't deserve her.

Something something Benji becoming exactly the person everyone in town wanted him to be. Because then he knows what he has to do to be loved. Because the best way to keep people from noticing you’re different is to let them think they know everything about you. Because being violent gives him a purpose, even when he knows how other people view him, even when he’s the protector, even when the person he’s most willing to hurt is himself. Because his own greatest fear is the responsibility that comes with being anything else.
I’d say one of the main themes across the whole Beartown story is how the best and worst of a person or a town (or a hockey club) tend to stem from the same place and wow the constant conflict that is Benji Ovich.

touch-averse or touch-starved? an analysis of boba fett's attitudes towards physical touch in legacy of the force
a sufficient number of people expressed interest in this topic that i'm finally making this post! i find this facet of fett's characterization quite fascinating and naturally wanted to share, especially bc it's so unexpectedly nuanced in a lot of ways. so here it is, for the consideration and enjoyment of fic writers, expanded universe enjoyers, and general fett fans alike!
touch is (ostensibly) unbearable because it's a form of compassion. throughout the series, if there's one thing we learn can put fett into the fight-or-flight reflex, it's compassion. at multiple points, his gut reaction to someone showing him compassion is to either lash out at them to get them to stop (as he does with jaina), or if he's not willing to do that, get away from them as fast as he can (as he does with sintas and occasionally beviin early into their friendship). fett explicitly equates more intimate forms of touch (such as hugging, or taking his hand) with compassion and states outright that he has no idea how to respond to such gestures. yet, fett's attitude towards touch cannot be boiled down to simple aversion, because
fett's reactions to physical touch read more like someone who is touch-starved, not touch-averse. despite the attitude towards compassion explored above, when fett is actually faced with compassionate touch, his reaction is not what one would expect. in contrast to when people try to verbally show him compassion, which will get the aforementioned fight-or-flight response, compassionate touch provokes much more ambivalence. for example, when sintas reaches out to take his hand, he initially "dreads" it—yet, when she actually touches him, the text tells us, "He needed her to let go of his hand; but he didn't want her to." similarly, though fett seems to express relief that mirta isn't the type to hug him or take his hand, in the very previous book, we seem to have evidence contrary to all parts of this statement. namely, mirta places her hand in his to reassure him when he's undergoing a very painful treatment for his fucked-up-clone-DNA disease, and his reaction is to immediately take her hand and, when the doctor starts lining up the needle, to squeeze it with such force that mirta "thought he'd break every bone in her fingers." these do not read as the reactions of someone who is averse to touch, but rather, someone who is actually quite touch-starved.
(note that it is not at all uncommon for fett's actions/emotional responses to be at odds with the image he projects. he is not at all a reliable narrator of his own internal experience. for example, at one point he claims to not feel ashamed of anything he's ever done, despite the fact that we see him explicitly grappling with feelings of deep, paralyzing shame for how he treated sintas. beviin even teases him for this habit at one point, responding to fett's claims of professional detachment in the face of his obvious care for others with a cheeky, "'course, i believe you 😉")
furthermore, as we see with mirta, fett can get downright clingy when he's worried about someone. in revelation, fett and mirta both take part in a mission that eventually forces them to split up into separate strike teams. fett is, to put it mildly, rather anxious about this. he fears that something will happen to mirta when she's on her own, and that furthermore, it will be his fault for agreeing to take her along on the mission in the first place. significantly, the separation is book-ended by two instances of fett physically grabbing mirta. first, when mirta begins to climb up into the other part of the ship, fett grabs her by the ankle to try and slow her departure, a result, we're told of his "sudden fear for her." he doesn't let go until she shakes him off. later on, when they're reunited, with mirta covered in someone else's (though fett isn't yet aware of this) blood, jaina observes that he grabs her tightly by the shoulder "as if he was going to shake the daylights out of her." both of these reactions seem to be purely instinctive and visceral; it seems fett's first, kneejerk reaction to the fear of losing someone is to physically grab and hold onto them. again, his actions don't align with the detached, touch-averse image he sometimes portrays.
finally, the characters who know fett best seem to know to offer physical reassurance in the face of painful/distressing situations. specifically, we see beviin and mirta offer physical touch as reassurance; beviin places his hand on fett's back when he's watching sintas suffer from carbonite thawing sickness and is anxiously waiting to see whether her mind is still intact, and, as mentioned above, mirta places her hand in his when he's receiving treatment for his genetic disease. and that's not to even mention how sintas's first reaction to seeing him in emotional turmoil is to try and take his hand. for all that fett tries to put on a distant, untouchable facade, the characters he cares about most and vice-versa can see through it within the text itself.
in conclusion, i feel like if a character he cared about actually hugged him, fett's reaction would be something along the lines of this image:

ive never felt more rural than i have in the past few weeks since hanging out with a lad who has only ever lived in cities. what do you MEAN YOU'VE NEVER DONE A MORRIS DANCE

YOU ARE JOKING#and also the CONCEPT of a village is baffling to him. i said there's probably about 100 people in my entire village#and we don't have a pub or a single shop the closest ones are in the NEXT village over which is a 3 mile walk#and this boy was HORRIFIED. we are both in a constant state of thinking the other is taking the piss#and now every time i think/do something abundantly rural im SO self-aware 😭#my mum told me the farmers are gonna do a xmas tractor run through our village this year#(they usually miss our village bc even by village standards it's tiny)#and she was like 'shame you'll miss it! i'll send you a video!' and im there already picturing this boy's face when i show it him#like sigh. yeah. yeah okay maybe the rural england is ingrained deeper than i feared. never escaping the allegations etc#had a conversation with him the other day that concluded with me 100% genuinely being like 'you need to touch grass'#i literally said 'i think it would fix you. like actually go and touch some grass what the fuck'#bc at this point he's so far removed from nature that it's INSANE TO ME. i didnt realise how much i took growing up rurally for granted#THESE PEOPLE DONT EVEN GET DRUNK IN FIELDS. Time and the Deity
I am thinking of a land saved by a little boy, that saved a little boy.
Termina watched the stranger soothe the pains of another child gone, and gave him another song, another bit of magic. He acted to save. Termina's heroes were dead or dying, so the land gave them to the boy to strengthen him, to reforge a new living hero.
And he blossomed in this, collected such happiness, dragged the land back from the brink again and again and again, until he could save everyone. Until he and the land and the power shaped a deity, and did save everyone that had poured life into them.
And that deity is Termina too - it's people, their gratitude. Gratitude so divine it could cleanse a demon- or change a human into more.
But then the boy left Termina. And the deity is not known in Hyrule, not needed in Hyrule. The hero child isn't either.
Come back home, the god in mask calls. Come back to Termina. We need you. Why did you leave?
The child says nothing and ignores the call. He is looking for someone else. Someone that left him without a word.
But eventually, years later, he needs the god again- he puts the mask back on and draws a divine sword.
The enemies fall at his feet. And then his feet step over the bodies, moving back towards Termina. He cannot stop, he cannot turn the direction of home, the ranch, his wife and life there now- the god of Termina can move once more, and he is going back.
So the hero, no longer a child, cuts the godhood off him.
He can't put the mask back on, ever. If he does he will be whisked away to another world, and he won't come back. It's a beautiful world, Termina, one that he loves and is grateful to- but he chose to leave. After everything he has lost, he will not lose that too.

decided to play the heirs of fate dlc this weekend (ive been meaning to for awhile; admittedly my knowledge of it all comes from browsing the wiki, and i really wanted to experience the anankos characterization for myself). this isn't even the part i was excited to get to BUT I AM REELING OVER IT..........FOR REASONS I WILL DISCLOSE IN THE TAGS (from part iv: light's sacrifice)

#during shigure's explanation about why there's gaps in the kids' memories my brain IMMEDIATELY flipped to krad's post about whether --#gunter actually remembers how much he loved his family/is the revenge really for them or is it more so for his own satisfaction --#and like. OH MY GOD. IS IT NOT SO UTTERLY CRUEL THAT PERHAPS THE TRANSITION OF HIS REVENGE BEING FOR THEM ---> BEING SO FOR HIM WAS IN --#FACT BY ANANKOS' DESIGN ALL ALONG RATHER THAN JUST AN UNFORTUNATE SIDE EFFECT OF THE POSSESSION..........#gunter honey you may have been more under his thrall than you realized#this would totally align with how he's only able to tell corrin about his family once he's free from the possession. cuz anankos is no --#longer deliberately stealing his memories to make him more willing to act on his behalf.......ough........#of course i still think gunter purposefully indulged in that power from anankos.......latching onto it as an opportunity to exact his --#revenge without really being aware of all the consequences that would coincidence along with that#and of course this is just a lil tidbit for my own self insert lore but if anankos stealing memories is a thing he purposefully does to --#make his victims more malleable that would explain why he would not remember his time in askr or leigh upon returning to the world of --#revelation :''''') and perhaps it would slowly come back to him post game#teehee. having many thoughts. brain exploding. typical behaviour.#once again fates storytelling is fucking exceptional like is it not brilliant that the degenerating dragon who has lived among his people -#far longer than one likely should. and has been scorn by those ppl he so loved as now their memories of him are only full of fear and --#hatred. ends up stealing people's memories to make them more useful in his plan to destroy the world. much like how his own memories have -#been lost to time. and he is a victim to time just like anybody else.
