hello can i request dazai, kunikida, and fyodor with an insomniac s/o who's really tired after a busy day but can't seem to fall asleep no matter what and gets frustrated bc of it

♡ cw: Reader is an insomniac (I genuinely don't know how that would manifest itself as a trigger but hey! I'm just one person in a sheltered world. Stay safe everyone <3), probably super inaccurate because I myself am not an insomniac and don't really know everything about it, Dazai horny, mentions of taking medication, mentions of alcohol, swearing

note: I feel like garbage cus my writing takes forever and I feel like I'm letting y'all down for taking so long with reqs, but I don't know what to do to fix itttttttt. Apologies for errors and I hope you enjoy x

Dazai:

Well reader. You're lucky you cuffed yourself a night owl

He'll help you calm down from your frustration and tell you that it's fully normal. Everyone has trouble falling asleep, and you just haven't figured out an effective routine yet. He doesn't really know what he's talking about but if it makes you feel better then meh

His first suggestion would probably be sex, to tire you out. Even better if you go for multiple rounds just to be sure~

Yeah right Dazai, like anyone's gonna wanna fuck every single work night (besides him lmao). Safe to say, the idea is thrown out pretty quickly

He'll throw some similar ideas around (not necessarily sexual but certainly 'if they're tired out then they'll fall asleep faster') but those are all just temporary solutions, so he gives up quickly. What else did you expect from him?

He might also suggest drinking yourself to sleep since alcohol is a depressant and makes you tired. You have to remind him that excessive drinking is actually not good for you and should NOT be used as a substitute for sleep meds

He reckons that it's best for you two to let sleep overtake you naturally, and so you may as well just stay up for now.

From then on Dazai treats every single night like a sleepover. He'll wanna watch movies, eat snacks, and talk all night even if it's a work night and you absolutely shouldn't do that

If you want, he's happy to do something more chill like cuddling while sharing a pair of earphones playing mellow music

Whatever it is that the pair of you decide to do, he'll likely find that it helps him just as much, maybe even more, than it helps you. And he's grateful for that

Kunikida:

I feel like Kunikida also has at least mild insomnia, so he knows just how you feel and is right there to help you out

He's got it all ready. Fans/blankets to balance out the room's temperature, a warm drink (milk, tea, whatever you prefer), basically all the stuff Google would suggest

He would do all of that stuff alongside you even if he's already tired enough to fall asleep on his own because he understands the struggle. He doesn't give up until you're asleep and honestly get you a man who would also do that

He also discourages you from things like caffeine before bed or napping during the day to help you get more sleep at night

He'd make a whole new bedtime routine for the two of you and adjust it based on what works, it'd be like a whole thing that he takes super seriously

He'd suggest reading before bed and recommend/lend you books that he likes, and also read to you if you really pleaded for it. He really enjoys reading and he would be thrilled if the pair of you had a little thing you did together <3

If they don't give any side effects/react poorly with any meds you may already take then he would also give you some of his sleeping pills (because let's be real he's fully stocked with them. this man)

Kunikida would let you cuddle him in your sleep whether or not he likes it or it makes him sweat, because let's face it you need the sleep and he needs the physical touch. It's basically a win-win

He gives you permission to wake him up if you can't sleep and need his help, or if you want company in your waking time.

He honestly does whatever it takes to help you because he cares so much about you. Perfect man fr

Fyodor:

Bold of you to assume that Fyodor sleeps. Like ever. He's too busy being evil or something

When he learns that you're an insomniac he's fully willing to let you stay up late with him while he's working if you're in need of company. He doesn't care whether you're just on your phone or reading a book or whatever

If you ask him he'll also let you sit in his lap and cuddle him (as long as you don't bother him- if you do he's sending you right to bed)

Fyodor knows that calming music is a good way to help people sleep, so if you're down he'd be willing to play something mellow and soft on his cello for you

He probably wouldn't admit it but he kinda likes that you find it hard to get to sleep since it gives him an excuse to spend more time with you

But if you really do wanna get to bed then he'll have some tea made for you and he'll read to you. His voice is very relaxing and nice to fall asleep to and he kinda knows it (he's smug about it too because he's a bastard)

If you find that you actually sleep better in his presence then he's more than happy to move a couch into his office and let you sleep there.

He's also happy to forfeit (SOME) work so he can come to bed earlier and help you sleep. And he's also happy to cuddle you because you're warm

Fyodor will basically just help you get to sleep with methods that he uses to get himself to sleep because it's the only way he knows how. Even if it doesn't work please give him credit for trying because he really is trying super hard T-T

I know you’ve gotten asks already talking about how happy they are that you’re going more in depth on the subject of Vox being trans in your next installment, but I can’t help myself… I’m so excited that you’re writing about that. It can be difficult to find trans rep in fandom spaces sometimes and your stories are so well written that this is like a gift from god. SO ANYWAY I’m super happy and your works are amazing and I just hope you know how many people value your works for all that they give.

Secondly, I was wondering whether or not Vox would have been trans on earth or just in hell? I mean I’m sure it would be difficult considering the time period but I also couldn’t think of a reason why he would be cis on earth but trans in hell. UNLESS he realized he was trans in hell/was finally able to do something about it?? Anyway, all of this is just speculation, I am only curious!!

Regardless, great work. It genuinely means a lot to me, if no one else :)

Oh, man, I'm ngl, one of my little, "Wait! I can do anything I want!!!!" moments of going mad with power once I got more and more experience at writing was realizing that I could just trans anyone's gender at-will and I didn't need anyone's permission for that. I still remember the first time I quietly decided an OC of mine was trans (love you, Laledy, you obnoxious asshole). I'm always a little apprehensive to start writing trans characters in new fandoms, mostly because I've been in a number of fandoms that have corners that get very tetchy about their weird gender role stuff, but it's consistently been met with such a positive reaction that it really brings me joy. So thank you so very, very much!!

My personal take on Vox in 666 specifically (a lot of which isn't going to come up because he does not want to get into it) is that he wasn't personally really in a position or environment conducive to considering trans-ness as, like, a thing that happens when he was alive, and he put his all into putting on The Correct Gender Performance with the vim and aplomb that we see from him in canon, plus all the underlying bullshit that goes into maintaining that facade. So, y'know. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, minus the Jewish. Which did not do amazing things for his mental health, not that he let himself pay attention to that at the time!

And then he wakes up, in hell, with this weird-ass demon body with a television for a head, and - well, it just makes sense to present as a man at that point, doesn't it? Hell is dog-eat-dog, and he's not going to pick the submissive gender to put himself on the back foot from the start!

He figures out what the fuck being trans even is eventually, just. Not for a while, and not until after someone like Valentino, having known and assumed that Vox is trans as a given for fucking months, mentions it offhandedly to Vox, who had been mentally describing himself as "just lying about his sex like those girls in stories that get shit done by dressing up as men". Then he gets to have his own little spiral about it, and also why it's upsetting him, and why he felt so vulnerable about Valentino knowing, and why Valentino specifically, Mr. Fishnets, Heels, and Microminis, is the one that ended up in a position not only to know this about Vox but for Vox to feel comfortable having any kind of sex with. It wasn't something Vox had to analyze back when it was just "her" freaky boyfriend being into pegging!

Okay, fuck, I have even more feelings about trans Vox than I thought I did, hahahaha.

Might fuck around and write a staticmoth-centric prequel interlude at some point if I have the brain cells for it. Vox is a lot more confident and comfortable with his gender now, to the point where he can absolutely see fucking around in a dress for kinky reasons as crossdressing and not being forced back into a box that doesn't fit, but it'd be neat to explore the earlier days. Val isn't here for gender, he's here to be sexy, but Vox... this IS the origin of the daddy kink, just saying.

S2E3 thoughts:

They absolutely fucking FACEPLANTED. Fully shit the bed. on the pacing for Nynaeve's arch challenges. I'm going to talk about this to distract myself from the loss of My Boy Uno. Let me explain:

The core of the arches is to stare down the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future and beat the shit out of them. Aspiring Accepted are meant to look at the regrets, the wrongs, and the joys of a life they could've led and say "No, the ring and shawl mean more to me." THAT is the point. The way out (which astute readers and watchers alike may remember "comes but once") must come when there's a reason to stay in the dream for this to work.

That is not what they fucking did in the episode.

This isn't about divergence from the books, this isn't about my own personal preference; this is about the show establishing a concept and then just drop-kicking it backwards into a wastewater treatment pond.

First dream gets a soft pass. What the hell was she gonna do there? Go upstairs and get killed/kidnapped? I dunno, it was just weird and didn't set up the nature of the challenge very well.

Second dream, we see a problem. The way out only appears after we've implicitly established that there's nothing Nynaeve can do to help. What the hell's the point of that? Of course she's capable of walking away! The show used its visual language to explain very explicitly that Nynaeve can't Heal here and consequently can't do anything to help, then uses regular language to tell us she's not wanted there (bearing in mind that she doesn't really even know how to Heal at this point in the books, so it'd be an herb situation anyway). This is mostly how it goes in the books, sure, but because of the placement of the Healing attempt, there's basically nothing more for her to do at that point besides sit by Tam's side and watch him die. This would've been more potent if there was absolutely any inkling that there was more she could do to fix the situation.

Third dream is the faceplant. I'll tell you what should've happened and you'll agree with me: the arch should have appeared as she watched the boys die, then she should've had to go through it as she watched the Trollocs go into the house after her daughter. Waiting until almost everything was lost, then letting her try to carry her daughter to safety, makes it a non-choice. There was literally no incentive to stay.

There's genuinely nothing wrong with Nynaeve's characterization in this whole sequence. I actually love it dearly. I just think they went 0 for 3 on a very crucial part of the pacing of the sequence.

Anyway.

Mat's fun still. It's super weird how much less antsy he is than his book counterpart--or, at least, how much that antsiness is channeled into smaller physical tics rather than large-scale paranoia and anxiety. I haven't gotten a grip on what'll be driving him yet, but the show is doing a good job telling me that they'll set that up soon. They'd fucking better, at least.

I'm getting weirded out by the power dynamics in the Tower--unpopular or not, Liandrin has absolute authority over the girls in the books by virtue of her status, and turning that on its head in the show just so Egwene and Nynaeve can have more effective rebel moments feels super odd. I don't understand why they're doing it that way. Egwene's confrontation with Liandrin at the ring melter was more confusing than, like, cool.

Rand's plotline is wonderfully paced for a whole-ass different show. His whole shit is going so slowly compared to everyone else's (except Mat) that it's just jarring to cut back to him having made next to zero progress. Arguably the most jarring part is that his goals are unclear right now. I'm speaking from my girlfriend's perspective here, who has not read the books: how the hell did Rand track down Logain, how the hell did he figure out this plan, how the hell did Selene get them into that party, etc. etc. NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING because I'm thinking it too. I fucking know how, don't worry. And my girlfriend can wait to find out, don't worry. The problem isn't that these things aren't been spoon-fed to you, it's that everything else is. Rand's arc in this season is creating a lot of pacing dissonance; it's running so much more slowly and steadily than the other characters' lightning-quick plot sprints that it just feels out of place. Great in isolation, confusing in context.

Perrin's plotline was HRRRRRRGHGHGK

We don't talk about Uno. Do not say his fucking name around me for at least three weeks. I need some time.

Like many others, I've been investing a great amount of time into Cyberpunk2077. Also, like many others, I find myself hopelessly smitten of our favorite edgy rockboy (and, by proxy, the musician industry.) I'm a musician, what else did you expect?

Enduring a particularly awful series of grievances, I am attempting to try making more art. If nothing else, to help me cope and heal. Unfortunately I am also one of those writers that despite fairly positive (thank you t-t) feedback, I hesitate. Trying to change that. SO here's a new blog for me to post my works and partake in activity weeks.

My first major fanfiction in some time was born of a simple yet fun idea: AU where Johnny gets a body of his own and he and V do their own things (and yet still have this weird mirroring quirk that they do that both of them seem genuinely unaware of somehow) meets a musician-songwriter from the country music side of the industry. She's a darling for the camera, she plays the part. That's how she's survived in the industry. Unfortunately her manager, who 'discovered' her, a nobody nomad in the badlands that had a knack for sweet yet sassy lyrics and campfire rhythm, and offered her a lucrative opportunity to perform her music and make an income to support herself and those important to her. When her relationship with her manager begins to turn poorly, what is one anti-corpo, super softie at heart to do when he learns of the danger she's in if she goes against the label's wishes?

Even if it's just for fun, it'd be cool to know if there would be interest in a fem!icon!OC x AU Johnny Silverhand with a body (male v) that more explores the capitalist consumerism of the Night City music industry and the politics within...

Hi again Niu, it's the wee baby beginner tarot reader anon. I wanted to pop in to tell you I saw your thank you post, so your message definitely reached me :3

I'm so happy to hear that the reading was helpful! That was actually the first reading I've ever done for someone else. I saw your original post asking for a reading, I happened to have some free time and my deck was right there, so I thought maybe I could at least try and see what came out. I wasn't expecting much since I haven't been reading very long and I still feel like I'm a newbie a lot of the time, (I'm actually the same anon who asked you about alternate interpretations for the 5 of wands back in July when it kept coming out in readings I was doing for myself,) but I figured I should try because it would at least be good practice doing a reading on a different subject than I usually read about for myself.

I certainly wasn't expecting to hear that it was so accurate! That genuinely shocked me in the best way. I had a huge smile on my face all yesterday afternoon after I saw your post. I've mostly just been doing card a day draws every day for myself to learn the energy of each card across the different decks I have, and bigger spreads when I have a bit more time. But its been hard to objectively tell if I'm getting better at reading the cards when my only feedback so far has been going back through my tarot journal to check how accurate the readings I did for myself weeks or months ago turned out to be.

I have a history of struggling really hard with learning new skills and not getting any better at them even when I'm practising and practising consistently for long periods of time. I assumed it'd be the same with learning tarot and so I haven't had enough confidence as a reader to even offer to do readings for anyone I know irl. But something about your post made me really want to try and help if I could.

So I think Spirit was being a bit cheeky with the both of us and tossing us at each other when we both needed it. Because your message made me so happy and gave me the confirmation I didn't know that I needed that tarot is something I should keep going with and that I am actually getting better at it as I practice and maybe I shouldn't second-guess myself so much.

Yammering About Pseudoregalia

As a fan of 3D platformers, I had heard about Pseudoregalia several times before playing it. How it was one of the best 3D platformers of the generation, if not ever; How it controlled super well; How the goat lady was hot.

Having played it now, I agree with all of these things.

I feel like if I went into the mechanics, I would just be parroting things I heard from people like NitroRad, so I'll make it brief. Sybil is genuinely very fun to control, gaining a moveset over the course of the game that leads to some amazing traversal. At the end, if I put my mind to it, I could easily get to any bit of geometry in the game from any starting point. That's not a measure of my skill- More of Sybil's, and her mechanics.

If I had to complain about anything, it'd be the combat. It'd be one thing if the game didn't really expect much from you in this department, but there are a couple instances where you have to actively engage with a very basic system against not-exactly-basic enemy types. I found myself getting smacked around a lot. Doesn't help that the big enemies outright make you lose your sword and have to go pick it up. Feels unnecessary.

One thing I chalk it up to is feeling like I don't have enough range on my attacks. Which actually is something addressed... If you have enough health and don't get hit. Get hit, your "level" goes down, and your range and damage with it. It honestly feels undercooked in favor of the much more ambitious and in depth platforming. I feel like the game didn't even really need combat, at that point.

Overall, definitely agree that Pseudoregalia is a great game, and more than worth the price of $6 USD. If you like 3D platformers and haven't picked it up, you have very little reason not to.

What were you doing before you started taking this survey? I feel like a fool remembering how I thought Saturday was going to be a rest day, because today has been everything but. Before this survey, we went to pick up paint for my sister's room; I went to my dentist appointment; dropped by Feliz to get ensaymadas my mom needed to pick up; three different drive-thrus because by lunch we were all starving, only to be met by super long lines so we just gave up; then had homemade lunch at home.

Now it's 4:12 PM and I hardly have a weekend left because we'll still need to go to church tonight, then I have an all-day event for work tomorrow + a wrestling show to attend in the evening.

Do you live somewhere where it’s completely safe to walk alone at night? I do, because it's a gated subdivision. The moment I step outside of the village and into the main highway might be a different story.

Have you ever lived with someone who was a total slob? No, we like keeping the house tidy. Even at its messiest I'd say it'd still be considered relatively clean. A lot of households I've been to are super cluttered so I'm lucky my family didn't fall under that trap.

Would you rather be able to talk to animals or be fluent in every language? If you were fluent in every language surely that includes animal ones? < There we go, haha.

Does your kitchen have a pantry? Yes.

Do you live below your means? Or do you spend every penny you have? I live below it because after three years of doing exactly the opposite and spending money as long as I have it, I finally learned how unhealthy and unsustainable it is. I hardly touch my earnings now and my biggest current vice is just spending on food because I don't know how to cook.

What are some foods you enjoy cooking? I don't know how to cook and can't see myself enjoying it.

He's rather enthusiastic to have a partner he cares for so much, but if you've told him or if he's noticed that you'd prefer for him to turn down the hype a little, he'll definitely try to be a little more "chill" about it. He's rather inexperienced, but he's always eager to do his best in any situation, and when it comes to you he tries to bring his A-game and do his best to make you feel happy and loved.

He would absolutely love to learn about new things with you! Despite how he may seem, he's actually pretty knowledgable (when it comes to cybertronian artifacts and history, of course) and a fast learner. That isn't to mention that as a new-comer to Earth, he intends to learn as much as he can about the planet, not only because he thinks it'd be good to better understand the species he's trying to protect, but also out of genuine interest himself.

So if there are any interesting facts about the planet that you'd like to share with him, or books you'd be willing to lend him, you'll be his go-to source for everything there is to know about earth and humans. (A brief callback to one of my other things, this of course means that he'll be calling you whenever he has a question about something, but the more he does it, the more it seems like he isn't actually curious about what he's calling to ask you about, but rather he's instead doing it to hide the fact he really just wants to talk to you.)

And of course in exchange for everything you tell him about Earth, he's going to return the favor (as long as you ask him something he actually knows about)... But with your interest in space, he'd be able to tell you a lot of things about the stars and cosmos, all of which he learned about in the academy and from Alpha Trion while he was a guard at Iacon. Or he could tell you about cybertronian history, or cybertronian customs that he thinks you'd find interesting or funny.

But aside from that, he'd strive to impress you in whatever way possible, but unfortunately that's a bit... Difficult for him, since the first things that come to mind include feats of strength and shows of his fighting capabilities, but due to your dislike of violence, he decides to opt for other means instead. He quite literally searches up "ways to impress your crush" online and tries out the ones he thinks you'd like the most, like showing off his smarts, or showing that he's really interested in whatever's on your mind.

He's also the type of S/O who'd definitely try out stuff that their partner's into, so he's willing to try out a whole bunch of your hobbies if it means the two of you get to hang out together. I'd like to imagine he's particularly fond of listening to you play music, and perhaps he even hums along when he grows more familiar with the tune.

He'd definitely try to help you come out of your shell and he actively encourages you to live life whatever way makes you happy and live life with no regrets. He's also pretty quick to recognize most of his mistakes and make up for them accordingly. He also always emphasizes that he promises to learn from them (and he does for your sake).

Breakdown

He's actually pretty chill and easy-going as a partner. He doesn't usually do any showy romantic expressions of love (unless you like them), but that doesn't mean he takes the relationship lightly. He particularly enjoys just spending as much time with you as he can in your day-to-day lives. You don't have to do anything special like go on dates, he's just perfectly content hanging out with you and doing whatever you can together.

And contrary to how he looks as a "big brutish tough guy", he's actually very gentle and chill when it comes to you. He enjoys joking around and maybe the two of you even have a few inside jokes that you laugh about from time to time.

He's pretty fond of the great outdoors too! And though patrolling may still be tedious work, the scenery makes it all the more worthwhile. Not to mention that it isn't as boring whenever you offer to tag along for the ride. There are other times where the two of you go on foot, and he'll let you sit up on his shoulders to let you get a good view of the area. Or if there are any neat trees you'd want a closer look at, he'll make sure to lift you up there carefully and let you pick a leaf or a flower out of them.

Whenever the two of you patrol sparsely populated areas with lots of wildlife, he'll occasionally point out animals here and there, and he'll sorta make a game out it.

"Oh hey look! Dog! One point."

"That's not a dog..."

"What do you mean it's not—oh, wait, it's a horse, right? The horns make it a horse."

"Horns on a horse would make it a unicorn. That was a moose."

"That's what a moose looks like?"

"Yeah??? What did you think a moose looked like?????"

Of course he isn't any good at naming the animals he sees, but he thinks that it's neat that you get to tell him what those animals are, or what that plant is, or what that other neat thing is that he saw on the road.

And I feel like he isn't that squeamish or disgusted by bugs, and I think he'd find beetles or any kind of resilient or strong bug super cool despite their miniature stature.

Animals aside, Knockout once recommended that Breakdown should take you out to the theater, saying that it was a romantic thing that humans do. So you can expect drive-in theater movie nights to be a frequent thing from time to time. He'll let you sit in his cab and he parks somewhere with a good view of the screen. He claims that he doesn't find horror movies all that scary, and actually nitpicks at the actual details themselves, but from time to time you'll notice the subtle way his frame begin to shake and his tires twist during some particularly scary scenes... Tease him about it if you will, but not once will he ever admit to being afraid.

And also if you're ever interested in learning self-defense, he definitely would step up and offer to teach you how to punch people in the face. "You never know when it'll come in handy" is what he says to justify it.

He's not usually someone who gets hyped over gifts. That doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't like them, it's just that he's never received many gifts before, so he doesn't truly understand the hype around them. But once you come around and give him gifts, he gets around to understanding the appeal. He gets happy and a little excited whenever you bring him something, and he also tries to get you gifts to return the favor! But given his situation as a giant robot, he can't exactly do that for you, but what the two of you could do is check out old junkyards to see if there's anything neat to take.

ok so yes I am stealing this type of concept from myself. and yes it is obvious that i love this type of trope ahfknd

so basically i just immediately imagine how adorable it'd be if dream coming across a species of egg he wants to take care of, that instead of heat and warmth to hatch it needs happiness/laughter.

eeeeeeee :((( all i can imagine is just c!dream (or any variation of dream) finding these eggs and are like "yes 🥺 mine now" like some deep parental instincts take over that he can't explain

and after this he spends h o u r s trying looking and researching through book after book to find a look alike so he can identify what eggs they are. otherwise how will he know how to take care of them!

the one who finds them is actually george ! who was helping dream research after the younger had begged him to ahfkbsjs and when he thinks he's found it he just grins and goes to tell dream the good news

dream is ecstatic to have an answer! so much so he doesn't really realize the circumstances. like "dream, i don't mean to ruin the celebration and be the voice of reason, but the eggs need levels of serotonin from the caretaker, including genuine laughter. do you have a plan of how to do that?" george asks this with an eyebrow raised. he himself already has an idea they could go with but he wants to see what dream will think of

dream goes silent in thought. he could get sapnap to chat with him maybe. surely if they have a fun conversation there's sure to be bits of laughter in between right? he looks to george though. he knows his friend well and he knows when the other has an idea

when george tells him what he's thinking, he expects dream to outright refuse or at least go defensive but he *doesn't*. he wants so badly to be a good caretaker to these eggs he's totally willing. and in fact he's actually a little excited to try! from now on daily, or at the very least every other day, as dream holds the eggs and gives them warmth or care he'll have to have someone lightly tickle him to get the laughter the eggs need :(

they don't go overboard, not much is needed. most of the time it's just high pitched titters and quick giggles, something to do to unwind at the end of the day :((((

literally the whole time dream is giggly and slightly whiny when the tickles gets to be too much or too fast. he doesn't wanna hurt the eggs! dream holds them close to his chest and a comforting hug. his eyes are closed and his cheeks are super red. he and george engage in little bits of small talk here and there but mostly it's just cooing and teases met with embarrassed complaining and giggly comment about how it tickles :( the eggs always hum in happiness to all the laughter <3

anyyywaayyyyy. it’s all super cute coz of the following reasons;

dream failing to realise what he’s getting himself into until george’s hands are literally on his sides. like not taking into account how embarrassing it is and everything

soft tickles 😖 like ughhhhhhh my heart. the lil titters, the soft coos and teases. the idea of him holding his egg so close so that it gets all his giggles 🥺

the fact that it happens daily 😭😭😭 like straight away i’m imagining dream having to remind george on certain days. :(

also hcing that caring for the eggs makes dream an absolute softy. which he’s ok to show in front of george. but absolutely in denial about it when it comes to showing others. despite their being nothing logical about adopting this egg, he will still manage to find a way to explain his reasoning without admitting that everything about his decision was one made from the heart. he just wanted egg to care for :(

How do you feel about Sally's energy-wrist blades from the Reboot era of Archie?

I LOVE THE RING BLADES! THEY ARE VERY COOL! JUST LOOK AT THEM! LOOK!!!

All fangirling aside, yeah I genuinely feel this is an element that benefited the storytelling and was, so far as I'm aware, integrated smoothly. Full disclosure, I still haven't read the reboot comics (plz halp), but from the bits I'm familiar with, I think the ring blades fit in perfectly.

Even without knowing the reboot comics, though, I can definitely say that this fills a gap in Sally's character. It's easy for a character like her to end up as a one-note when a writer leans too hard into a prominent trait -- in this case, Sally's intelligence and strategy skills. We all know she's usually the brains of the operation, and when left to her own devices, she typically will do something clever with a computer to accomplish her goals. That's all well and good, but it means that other elements of her character get overlooked, particularly her gymnastic abilities.

At no point in any canon I'm aware of does the series ever come right out and say that Sally's a gymnast, but they show it consistently. That makes Sally a HUGE physical asset! Not only does that mean she can likely get into places that a lot of other characters couldn't (either by flexibility or just being able to launch herself in the air), but it'd also be very easy to integrate all kinds of different combat skills into her character. You could really lean in either direction with that, too; it'd make perfect sense to give her a combat style that's less about direct force and more about being nimble and light-footed to redirect the opponent's power, or you could take advantage of the fact that gymnast's bodies are pretty much pure muscle and are often WAY more powerful than onlookers typically expect. No official source ever seems to have noticed that (or been interested in it), and instead she often ends up sidelined, left behind at HQ, or worst of all needing to be rescued.

The introduction of the ring blades opens the door to all kinds of expansions of Sally's character. First and foremost, they broaden the sorts of roles she's even CAPABLE of playing in a given narrative. The Sonic franchise as a whole has kind of run into the DBZ problem, wherein the story becomes so full of super-powered characters that it kind of necessarily shuts out anyone that's not super, even if they're still extraordinary by average standards. Sally's ring blades help even the score and give her character more versatility by legitimizing (if not outright demanding) her presence in situations that would otherwise neglect her. Not only can she hold her own, but she can coordinate with the team and help others that are in a pinch. It's the same effect that came with the introduction of Amy's hammer.

Furthermore, adding the ring blades also led to new world building, so far as I understand it. Again, I haven't gotten to read those comics yet, but from what I understand the ring blades (or rather, the technology they're built from) is an Acorn family thing, as I recall seeing her father use similar weapons once. And that's super cool! It gives us a little bit of history for the royal family and expands on the type of relationship Sally has with her dad!

There's probably even more ways in which the story benefited from introducing the ring blades, but sadly, this is as far as I can go without knowing more details (and since I DO want to read this for myself, no spoilers please). But even with my limited info, yes! The ring blades are v cool, A++ would ring again!

have you been struggling with loneliness back in your hometown. i feel like i have no friends and i’m about to graduate and move back in the fall and all my highschool and childhood friends are still at school. my college friends are all over. i just worry i’m gonna be lonely and need to make friends in my hometown

a little bit honestly but it's not as bad as I thought it'd be? I genuinely have 0 friends in town other than my boyfriend (who definitely makes it easier, but he also works full time and I'm unemployed rn so weekdays are pretty empty. plus i'm not thrilled that my only local friend is my boyfriend lol). meeting new people is one of my main goals for building my life here at home, because I do plan to stay here long term.

I'm trying to view it positively though! I'm treating it like a little challenge for myself to put myself out there and try new things. For example I'm signing up for a climbing gym, which is a notoriously social place with lots of twenty somethings, so I hope to meet some people there (and worst case I just have a fun new activity to fill my time). I've never tried climbing before, but getting out of my comfort zone hasn't failed me yet!!

I also randomly ran into a guy I barely remember from 6th grade while I was at the dispensary with my boyfriend the other night, and now we have plans to go to a comedy club together on monday. He was giving off really friendly fun vibes but I hesitated getting his contact info bc it's been so long. Then I figured I had nothing to lose and it might end up being a good friendship, so I did it anyways!

My point is- I'm actively taking opportunities for socialization here, even if I think it might be weird in the moment.

I've also just been focusing personal growth via daily habits-- this helps a lot. Having a set list of things that I NEED to do every day occupies my time and leaves less room for feeling lonely and bored. Reading, running, playing the guitar, exploring the city (like trying new coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks)... all things to do :)

It doesn't feel too personal not really having a social life here right now, because I know my college friends are still here for me if I need them! I'm making sure to maintain those friendships. It sounds like you have plenty of friends in your life, even if they're not in your hometown. Hopefully you can remember that not having a super active social life when you get back isn't a reflection of the kind of person you are! I also hope that you can lean on the friends you've made over the years.

it's definitely harder to meet people now than ever, but being patient and knowing that it may take some effort to meet people I want to be friends with is making it bearable.

My character is a magic user who bound their heart and mind to a demon (we r girly bffs and talk mentally almost all the time) and together they conjure nightmares in peoples heads for cash, it's like a hitman type thing but the target doesn't die they just can have their mind warped to believe things or be made afraid of things. We could do some really extreme shit with Bills mind hopping and altering abilities, but he's at a point in his existence where he does not wanna fuck with large scale shit. (he hath experienced death and does not wanna do THAT whole ordeal over again) and I simply have no interest in anything that could force me out of the shadows. I love being mysterious.

There's wanted posters for my character but they don't have pictures, just info that there's an evil wizard woman and a magic triangle poisoning dreams and warping minds, and to contact with any info (it's a really long shot for a wanted poster, most ppl who actually read it think it's a joke)

I do not view myself as a part of an actual movie plotline in any way, I just wanna insert myself into the world itself so not REALLY ever, I guess in terms of the movie years prior (cause then jacks alive LOL)

3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self insert?

I think I would be generally liked by people who don't know my evil deeds, I have a sadistic side but l'm polite and charismatic, so l'm truly one of those villains who'd be so nice the hero might go 'oh god I forgot this person manipulates minds and has no issue with murder.’ Which I WILL say this fictional version of me in this villainy narrative would be a lot more nasty than I am in real life, this character doesn't blink at violence and crime and finds specifically evil power extremely enticing.

So I genuinely think it'd be a 50/50 if a character would like nice Dev or hate evil Dev. Cant help being a Gemini!!

4. would you be considered a main character, side character, villain, or something else?

I am absolutely not a main character, l'm like side villain who shows up sometimes to assist if I’m asked, but usually fucks off cause I have my own thing going on, and I'm really not interested in stopping the heroes of a story or anything like that. I'm not interested in no large scale schemes, just having a good time.

5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?

I do not I am a standard human being with a highschool diploma and a song in my heart but because I am psychic linked to a chaos demon I can benefit from what he's able to do. I can Do magic spells and I have a small bank of knowledge on how to make a handful of potions without a recipe (or they're scribbled on stained post it notes that I keep in my wallet). My character also dabbles in Creating spells but they don't go super well often because that takes a lot of work and I give up easily LOL
