Jaebum had been dreading this day since October hit. Even though there were two Holidays before it, Christmas items were already being put out on display already. And his boyfriend, Mark, was an avid Christmas fanatic. Christmas songs began to play in the house in November. Shopping began in October and of course, the decorations had to be up the day after Thanksgiving. Okay. Well the day after the day after Thanksgiving because the day after Thanksgiving was super, mega shopping day and Jaebum refused to go shopping anymore after nearly dying the first time around.
“Babe!!”
“No.” Jaebum grumbled as he looked up from his phone, eyes landing on Mark as the other male dragged out the newly purchased boxes of inflatables and statuettes of lighted creatures.
“Oh come on, Grinch. Give me a hand.”
Jaebum sighed as he stared intently at Mark. He lowered his phone and started clapping, which didn't amuse Mark as much as it was amusing himself.
“Jaebum, help me decorate.”
“Mark, it's not even December.” Jaebum commented.
“Exactly and our neighbors already have their lights up. We need to do the same!” Mark huffed, a pout gracing his beautiful lips.
“Americans…” Jaebum grumbled and Mark grunted. Walking over, Mark took a seat on Jaebum's lap and crossed his arms as he stared at him.
“Hey now, you agreed to move with me to LA. Don't even complain about us “Americans”. You're gonna be a citizen soon too.” he grinned. Jaebum groaned and wrapped his arms around Mark's waist and held him close.
“Yeah, I agreed. But you go a little excessive when it comes to decorating.”
“But you love me.” Mark pointed out cutely, voice taking on a higher pitch. Jaebum groaned and rolled his eyes as he lowered his head to rest on Mark's shoulder.
“Alright. Fine, let's go put up the decorations.”
Mark grinned and clapped his hands happily before throwing them around Jaebum's neck. “Thanks, love.” he said and smiled. He leaned in and kissed Jaebum's cheek. He slipped off of Jaebum's lap and made his way back to the boxes he had been carrying and picked them back up and started walking towards the front door.
Jaebum gave a deep sigh as he watched his boyfriend leave out the door and wondered to himself exactly why he just couldn’t say no. But he supposed it was because the other was just an amazing man in general. Everything he had ever wanted in a partner. Jaebum honestly considered himself lucky that he was able to snag such a beautiful and pure-hearted man to call his own. Getting up from the chair, he moved to the door, ready to meet his maker.
~*~
“Jaebum!”
Jaebum clung tightly to the edge of the roof, lights dangling from his body. Mark’s hand wound around his wrist, gripping tightly and for a moment Jaebum thought maybe he wouldn’t actually die. Granted, their house was only one story, so maybe if he fell he wouldn’t actually die and just break something. But still, the fear was real. His heart was racing as Mark started pulling and he did his best to help push himself back up as well. Thought it was difficult since one arm was tied to his side by the lights.
Between the two of them, they managed to pull him up and over the side, both laying on their sides. They hadn’t exerted that much energy, but they were panting as they had just run a country mile. Jaebum looked to Mark, whose eyes were still wide with fear, his cheeks flushed red. “This is why I don’t want to decorate,” he spoke after a moment of silence between them. A large smile spread over Mark’s lips and he laughed.
“It’s not my fault you’re an absolutely clutz.” he teased. “Are you okay?” he finally asked, trying to calm himself from his laughter.
“I’m just peachy,” Jaebum grumbled and groaned. “Mark unwrap me!”
Mark snickered as he leaned over and started unwrapping the lights from Jaebum’s body. “I have to admit, I kind of like you like this, all tied up. Like your my Christmas present.” he teased.
“You know, sometimes I wonder about your mind and where it goes.” he commented. He was more than happy when Mark finally removed the lights from his upper body, and he was able to finally sit up on his own.
“It goes on a lovely trip and brings me back such amazing commentary when it returns.” Mark chuckled and Jaebum could only roll his eyes. He couldn’t deny that. The things that Mark would say were sometimes very questionable, but funny or suited for the situation. Mark had his own style of living and commenting on life and that was one of the things that had intrigued Jaebum about the other when they first got together.
“You’re so silly.” Jaebum smiled.
“That’s why you love me.”  Mark said, pausing in his work to stare at into Jaebum’s eyes. “Right?”
“Mmm, well it’s not the only reason I love you. But definitely one of the reasons.” Jaebum said as he leaned forward slightly.
“What are the other reasons?” Mark asked, smiling ever so slightly at Jaebum.
“There are too many to list. We don’t have all day, we need to finish getting the decorations up.” Jaebum said. “But trust me when I say, there are so many reasons why I love you and nothing will ever change my thoughts on that.” he said. Closing the gap between them, Jaebum pressed his lips against Mark’s in a chaste kiss. Mark hummed against the lips, leaning into the kiss for a moment before pulling back.
“Alright. Let’s get back to work and this time, try not to kill yourself. I know you hate decorating but that doesn’t mean you can just throw yourself off the roof.” he teased and Jaebum rolled his eyes.
“Yeah yeah yeah. I’m just saying, I’m not taking this all down in January.” he said and Mark pouted.
“But Bummie.”
“No! Not finish the lights!” Jaebum said and tossed one of the evil strands at Mark, who caught it with a laugh.
“Love you too babe.” he winked and blew a kiss at Jaebum, the other just shaking his head and moving to continue to hang the lights on his side of the roof. Decorating was something he really hated, but he would suffer through it for Mark. Because he loved Mark, and he would do anything for the other, just to see him smile.

Polar opposites
Summary: Even amidst all the anger, he would never break the one he loves.
Word count: 1446
Pairing: Jaebeom X OC
Warning(s): Angst, minor violence
A/N: It's been a long time ~ I was clearing out my drafts when I stumbled upon this. This was written in 2018, and reading it again made me go "Oh? This doesn't seem like a bad writeup?" Heh.
Jaebum thought that their love would overcome all obstacles, just like in romance movies and novels where the couple would fight and then, make up afterwards. He thought they would live happily ever after as long as they are together. That their love could stand the test of time. That their love was such a strong force that anything was possible. But this was reality, not those made-up published fantasies of a romanticist's mind.
They were cosmic stars clashing which perfectly described their first encounter. They collided as she rushed for class while he skipped it. Papers scattered everywhere and profanities escaped his lips. She scrambled for her papers while he for his cigarettes. As soon as he collected his things, his fists were clenched and ready to land a punch on his victim's face, but she had already disappeared into the corridor. And that was the first time someone ever managed to escape the wrath of the famous delinquent, Im Jaebum.
He spent his days searching for the rude girl. In Jaebum's defense, she did not utter a word of apology for bumping into him and almost getting him in trouble. When he finally got her, she had been extremely clueless about him and that bumping incident. She blinked up at him with innocent and clueless eyes that Jaebum could not even argue anymore. Nevertheless, Jaebum found her as a new target, bullied her to no end. However, she never cared about his antics and ignored his existence. She never feared him as all the other students did. But that one time when Jaebum went too far and shoved her down the corridor, she had this flame in her eyes when she met his. For the first time, Jaebum felt scared for his own life. Nothing happened though, but she started to retaliate. She got on his nerves, but funnily enough, she always managed to get away with it.
Amidst all the animosity, there was a change of heart. It wasn't a gradual evolution of emotion. Rather, it was something that was sparked on a snap. Jaebum had wandered into the field to taunt her. But a baseball was flying towards him unbeknownst to him.
"Look out!" he had heard someone cried out before there was a whoosh sound right in front of him.
As if time stood still, he could see clearly how each strand of her hair fluttered in the wind, how her hand was outstretched right in front of his face, how the ball slammed onto her glove.
It was stupid, Jaebum thought, to feel his heart skip a beat at such incident. But it happened and Jaebum thought she caught his heart along with the ball.
Afterwards, Jaebum became a blushing fool whenever he saw her. He still disturbed her, but no longer as extreme as before. He didn't know how or when he actually mustered courage to confess but the next thing he knew, they were a couple.
Nevertheless, couple or not, they were still two very different individuals. He still preferred streetwear -- leather jackets and dyed hair -- while she preferred smart casual. She was the epitome of a successful woman: smartly dressed, with an aura of confidence. He was violent and aggressive while she was calm and collective. He was fire while she was water. His foul temper always ruined the surroundings but never her. He ruined, she fixed. He was destructive, she was constructive. He explodes, she implodes.
Because of their contrasting personalities, their love was like hot coal. It was scalding to be held, but it spread warmth to the hearts.
Nobody understood why they were together in the first place. Their closest friends always had to deal with them barging into their place with tear-stained faces or fury. None of them understood how they manage to get married and settled down together despite the endless arguments. They were not the happiest couple. They never were. Never had anyone see them smile to each other. No one understood their love.
Except them.
"We'll be fine. We'll always be," her words rang in his ears. He scoffed. Who was she to say that? Indeed, he loved her so much. But she was not him. She could not understand the pain inside. He curled himself up on his bed, letting himself be consumed by sadness and guilt. He screwed up big this time. He had it all, but his pride just had to ruin it. Tears dripped onto the bed sheets that her scent still lingered on.
His endearment for her was too overwhelming. A month had past since the incident occurred and he missed her so bad. Jaebum hoped, every second, that she would show up on the doorstep of the apartment (he no longer called it home) with her bags. But time past by and she did not come. He laughed at the wee hours of every night. He thought to himself. He deserved it. He was a jerk who ruined everything and was a screwed up person himself. He got himself drunk with the little remnants of her in the house, in his mind. He played their memories over and over - her sloppy kisses in the morning and night, her sweet voice that was his favourite song, her soft touches on his skin. Every single little detail of her was etched deeply into his memory and onto his skin.
Every night, he roamed around the streets alone. As he drowned himself in the memories, he always ended up in the neighbourhood of his in-laws. He stood at the pavement, staring at the 9th floor of the building, hoping to catch a glimpse of the woman he loved. He stood for god knows how long, not tearing his eyes away from the windows. But she never looked out of the window.
It became a habit for him to come around everyday. He was too much of a coward to knock on the door. He was too afraid to face her. He knew he was in the wrong, but he never knew why he was not brave enough to face her. He wanted her back so bad, but his body just would not move a step closer to her. She was there: she was within reach, but he just could not take the step. He missed how her silky hair would easily let his fingers card through. He missed how his hands were so much bigger than her face. He missed how perfectly fitted she was in his embrace.
Then he saw her.
He could easily identify her even if she was drowned in the crowd, even in the darkest of the night. She wore the hoodie he recognized so well: her favourite (and his too), a present from him. She stuffed her hands into the pockets of the hoodie and she strolled down the streets, her back facing him. She was all alone, and very easily he could have approached her. But he did not. He followed as she entered the convenience store. She smiled at the cashier as she paid and he died a little inside. He yearned for that blinding smile to be directed at him again. He yearned to see the skin around her eyes to crinkle and her lids to be turned to crescents upclose again. He yearned for her so much. But he could do nothing, only to love her from afar.
The famous Im Jaebum, who never fled from a fight, was in fact, a coward.
So Jaebum came home, all drunken in his own misery and agony. What started as soft sobs escalated into fury. He threw a fit. He smashed the vases, the glass furnitures. He broke all the photos they smiled happily in. He punched holes into the walls. His skin tore and his blood dripped onto the hardwood floor. His head hung low and he rested his palm against the wall for balance, before he leaned his back against the wall. He let himself slid down in agony as he cried. He did not know what was more painful: his torn skin and dripped blood or her absence. Perhaps it was both.
Or perhaps it was the wrath he incurred himself for being destructive.
Everybody knew how bad his temper was. Him throwing a fit would mean the destruction of the world. He would break everything and anything he saw.
Even amidst all the anger, he would never break the one he loves.
The only one who braved the flames of fury was the one he vowed he would never hurt.
But he broke it.
So she left and he knew he deserved it.

our main character in the hall of fame is bang hyeji! dizem por ai que é a estrela mais bela de 1995, além de citarem suas semelhanças com kim jisoo (blackpink), mas não acho tão parecida assim, quem sabe. sua ocupação? ser uma estrela já não basta? tudo bem, fiquei sabendo que é dançarina e acompanhante de luxo em um bordel. antes de ir, fique com uma fofoquinha dos bastidores, fiquei sabendo que é bissexual, então é melhor correrem porque duvido que ela fique solteira por muito tempo.
buscando por f/m ou f/f e o plot pode ser na coreia do sul.
Tumblr media
SINOPSE

Pairing: Im Jaebum x female reader
Genre: angst / romance / soulmate au / fluff ending
Warnings: emotional angst, swearing, right person wrong time trope
Prompt: “I’ll sleep on the couch.” - #13 of Idea Starters
Word count: 4136
Tumblr media
In all your years of existing, you assumed you would meet your soulmate in a romantic way. Bumping into one another on the street, the first snow cascading down as you looked into his or her eyes. Giggling as you step into get a coffee and crossing paths with your destined one in the line, their drink order being the same as yours. Being interviewed for a job, failing it, and then meeting your beloved in the same office so it’s not so much of a let-down.
You might have watched one too many romance movies in your life. You had dreamed about the grand gestures and the little ones equally. Even a meet-messy would be better than this.
“I’ll uh, I’ll sleep on the couch. Just for tonight,” you mumbled after taking one look at your cousin’s boyfriend who had opened the door.
Your heart was thudding so dangerously loud in your chest that you knew he had to hear it from where he stood still stunned in the doorway. By some miracle, you had dashed inside the house and over to said couch in the living room, placing your luggage down beside it before you moved to the bathroom down the hallway and promptly locked the door.
Not only had today been the worst day of all days, but you had also gotten stuck in the downpour as you packed a suitcase of your belongings and left your apartment in a rush. You had texted Zara earlier about your predicament, and she had offered you to stay at hers until you were back on your feet again. Your cousin had mentioned she was away for the weekend with work, but her boyfriend Jaebum would be home, and she’d tell him that you were coming over to stay.
It all had started to sound like things were getting better.
Boy, had you been wrong. As soon as the door swung open, you felt the immense rush of your soul pushing to the surface, your eyes widening as you took the man in before you. His eyes connected with yours in the same incredulous way yours were, his mouth falling ajar.
He was your soulmate.
And he was dating your cousin.
The gentle knock on the bathroom door jolted you away from sagging against it, your wild stare turning on the wooden barrier. You had come in here to hide. Sure, it made sense that you took a shower, given how frozen your body had been from the soaked clothes. Now, you were too numb to register the chill on your skin, your mind reeling from your soul’s discovery.
“Are you okay?” he asked tentatively, and you clamped your eyes shut as a lump formed in your throat.
You didn’t want to cry. Not again.
You didn’t answer him, listening intently to the sounds on the other side of the door. There were no retreating footsteps. Instead, you heard a barely breathed out curse and then his body sliding heavily to the ground on the opposite side of the door.
Slowly, you mirrored the action, curling up with your forehead pressed onto your knees.
“You’re Zara’s cousin,” he stated, his husky voice causing you to hold your breath for a moment in its wake.
You wished to be anywhere but here.
Could you find somewhere else to stay? Your best friend had just moved back home, but her bedroom floor would be a better place to crash instead of here. Heck, you’d rather use your savings and rent a motel room than remain in this situation.
Jarringly, you got to your feet and swung open the door, Jaebum scrambling up in the process.
You both stared at one another wordlessly.
He wasn’t your typical choice in men, but he was handsome. Dark hair fell into brown cat-like eyes. Your gaze followed down the slope of his nose to his plush mouth, lips slightly parted as he sucked in a shaky breath. He had the shadow of stubble forming on his jaw, and a set of broad shoulders and defined chest meet your trail down his body. He wasn’t overly thick in frame, but you could tell he was strong. He wore baggy clothing that hid the definition of his lower half, and his feet were bare. You stared at them for some time, unable to lift your focus back up to his face.
You needed to get out of here.
“I’ll find somewhere else to go.”
“No,” he answered, his hand reaching out to grip your wrist as you attempted to skirt around the doorframe.
Again, your attention jolted back to his eyes, the surge of electricity beneath your skin thrumming where he held you. It began to burn, and just as quickly as he held on to you, did he let go, his dark eyes pleading for you to stay put.
“I think we need to talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about,” you whispered back, blinking away from the hurt that immediately rose within his eyes.
“Right. Because discovering your soulmate is an everyday occurrence,” he bit back, clearing his throat after dropping another curse between you.
Your emotions were rising steadily, and you swiped angrily at your tears before they could fall down your face. “You’re Zara’s boyfriend.”
“Yes.” He sounded tortured as he pushed the word through his lips, and you peeked at him through the side of your eye. “But I… I mean… we’re…”
“Strangers.”
“Soulmates,” he corrected more boldly, capturing you again. Steely resolve met your cautious glance, and he swallowed deeply. “Shit. This… this wasn’t supposed to happen like this.”
“No. But I suppose we’re not the first people to face a less than ideal match.”
“Less than ideal… you mean meeting, not match.”
You laughed hollowly. “Sure.”
“I don’t meet your stand—”
“You’re dating Zara,” you repeated, finally finding the courage needed to duck away from the man. You felt your soul lurch backwards for him as you stalked quickly to the living room.
Jaebum’s hand was on your suitcase before you could reach it. “Let’s not be hasty, Y/N.”
A simple gasp left you at his use of your name, your heart racing into overdrive.
This was pure torture. The universe sure knew how to play a sick joke.
“I’m going to go.”
“You’re soaked through. Have a shower. Crash here. I’ll go to my friend’s house. Zar—your cousin mentioned you have no place to go right now after your landlord kicked you out unfairly.”
God, could this day get any more humiliating?
“I’ll go to my friend Jackson’s house,” he offered again, and your round eyes investigated his. There were too many emotions swirling in his eyes, too many tugs at your heart to understand each one.
You had known that soulmates were connected in many ways, but you hadn’t expected the force to be this immediate. This powerful.
“Please,” he whispered, and you closed your eyes, nodding once. “Thank you.”
Letting go of your luggage, Jaebum backed off a step, shaking his head softly as he continued to stare at you. “I’m sorry.”
“For?”
“Hurting you further today,” he replied, and you sucked in your bottom lip, teeth clamping down on it in hopes to distract the tears threatening to spill again.
Nodding again, you retreated to the bathroom, locked the door and sat down heavily on the side of the bathtub.
No gesture – grand or small, could make this right.
Tumblr media
Jaebum was gone by the time you finished your shower. There was a simple note on top of your luggage, telling you to remain here, to help yourself to the food in the kitchen, and ended with a phone number.
Presumably his.
You managed to swallow down some food, though you didn’t taste it, and turned on the TV even when you couldn’t focus on it. Throughout the night, you tossed and turned. It wasn’t because the couch was uncomfortable.
You couldn’t get Jaebum out of your head.
As the hours slipped by, so did some of your remaining sanity. You went through erratic mood swings, waking up to think about how gorgeous he was, only to fitfully sleep for half an hour more and condemn yourself for finding him attractive. When morning arrived, you were still unprepared to deal with any of this.
Especially when Jaebum reappeared.
“I uh, I got us some breakfast,” he announced as you stared back at him in alarm. His movements were slow, precise, as if you were a frightened animal ready to take flight at the slightest wrong move. You watched as he placed a tray of beverages and a takeout bag on the dining table near the entrance of the kitchen.
Jaebum then swung around, leaning against the table, and looked at you. Once again, you were stuck staring at this man. This morning he looked worse than yesterday. Shadows had formed under his eyes, indicating that he had had just as little rest as you had. Your fingers itched to run over the purple marks, and you closed your hands into fists until your nails dug into your palms.
“Are you hungry?”
“A little,” you confessed, and Jaebum nodded, turning back to the food and began pulling it out of the bag.
You wandered over to him on shaky legs, trying to peer over his shoulder at what he had gotten. You stumbled, and Jaebum was quick to reach out and right you, his hands trembling against the curve of your waist. “You okay?”
“I’m fine.”
Letting you go, Jaebum looked at the food he’d gotten. “I didn’t really know what you liked or didn’t, so I got a few options. Drinks too. I got coffee and juice. What do you prefer? I could go out and get something else if it’s—”
“I’m fine with what’s here. Thank you.”
Breakfast was challenging. You both kept attempting to stare at the other whilst forcing food and drink through your mouths. You watched how he opened things and what hand he used most, smiling softly without realising it.
“You’re left-handed.”
Jaebum stilled for a moment. He then looked up at you, hope etched into expression. “Yeah, I am. Are you left-handed too?
“No, but I’ve always strangely found it attractive,” you admitted and then bit your lip when you realised what you had said. “Oh… uh, well, I mean—”
“Attractive how?”
“I meant different,” you offered, and Jaebum’s lips curled up a little. You groaned inwardly.
“Well, I guess being left-handed is different.”
“You’re going to annoy me over that, aren’t you?”
Jaebum grinned. “Maybe.”
“Stop!” you chimed, and he laughed heartily. Your mouth fell ajar, now mesmerised by the sound.
Jaebum noticed and cleared his throat awkwardly, rubbing a palm over the nape of his neck.
You darted your attention back to your food, cursing the momentary lapse in control.
“We should talk,” he mentioned after the silence stretched uncomfortably between you, and you shook your head. “Y/N.”
“Jaebum,” you countered, watching how he reacted to you saying his name. Such a strange thing for the soul to rush forward to, you thought. Then again, it was part of your identity, and you assumed all souls craved that type of understanding from the connection.
“We’re adults,” he pointed out gruffly, pinning you with a stare. “We can discuss this. Avoidance isn’t going to stop me from…”
“From?”
“Wanting to know you,” he replied eventually, no doubt having to change the words he was originally going to say.
You looked down at your remaining food, no longer hungry. The immense level of guilt you had struggled with all night consumed you again, and you huffed out a short breath. “I think it’s best that we don’t get to know one another.”
“And deny ourselves the bond?!” Jaebum asked you, disbelief and hurt flooding his tone. “Y/N, what we have is—”
“Nothing,” you interjected, smiling forcibly. “Listen. I get it. Believe me, I do. But this isn’t a situation I want to be in. Zara is one of my friends. We’re cousins, but she’s also been there for me when my life has seen hardship and happiness. And vice versa. I don’t know how you feel about her, but I know what she thinks about you—” You cut off with a choked sob, diverting your gaze from him.
The endless phone calls. The coffee dates. Zara had been smitten with Jaebum from the first time she laid eyes on him.
“I know we all have a soulmate out there, Y/N. But I wouldn’t even care if mine never turned up. I know I’ll always want him. Jaebum is… he is everything to me.”
“I care about Zara too,” he murmured, sounding broken. You didn’t dare look at him, not wanting your heart to betray the loosely forming resolve of your mind. “This is a fucking nightmare.”
“Yeah. But it’s okay because there’s only one answer.”
“No, Y/N, there’s not.”
You finally looked at him and his expression crushed your soul. “I won’t be the person who steps on my cousin’s happiness. Even if I know that you and I are connected in some way. And I won’t allow you to leave her for me either. We just need to accept this is how it’ll be, Jaebum.”
“Y/N,” he growled as you stood up and shot him another weak smile.
“Thank you for letting me stay here last night. I’ll go stay with my best friend instead. I hope you have enough sense to not break my cousin’s heart. She’s an amazing person, and she thinks the world of you.”
And with that, you reached for your suitcase and wheeled it to the exit, this time Jaebum didn’t stop your escape.
Tumblr media
“Y/N!” Zara crooned when she saw you waiting for her, dashing over to you and hugging you tightly. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you in person! How dare you be a stranger like this!”
“Sorry, Zar,” you replied, smiling back at her infectious energy. “I’ve been busy.”
“Too busy for your little old cousin? Pfft!”
Six months had passed since you had met Jaebum. Six months of imagining what could have happened if you hadn’t chosen to walk away. Could you have been friends with him? At least then you would have known what he was up to.
Having found your soulmate made you deeply curious about him. Mostly about how Jaebum coped without you.
Of course, you had heard about him from Zara. She had remained oblivious, thankfully, more disappointed that you had chosen to take up residence elsewhere than with her. She had owed you from when she had crashed at your place, so she had insisted until it was all forgotten about and life had moved on.
You now saw your life as a series of before and after. Life after Jaebum sure was different than before.
The struggles hadn’t lasted as long as they felt they would. Your landlord was fined by the tenancy tribunal after you contacted for advice, and you were rewarded your bond back and compensation. That allowed you to secure a new apartment, and with that, you found yourself lucky to see a job opening for a manager at the bookstore underneath your home. Now, you had more than enough money in your savings, a future that was stable, and you hadn’t needed to crash on anyone’s couch again.
Especially Zara’s.
“I have big news to tell you!” your cousin exclaimed, giggling giddily. You watched her with interest, your observation of her appearance halting on her left hand. Zara noticed your acknowledgement of the sparkly gem on her finger and thrust it into your face. “I’m getting married!”
All the warmth withdrew from your body. A loud buzzing began to build until you couldn’t hear a word Zara was saying, and you had slouched back into your chair as oxygen began to feel difficult to obtain.
Zara was marrying your soulmate.
“Y/N. Y/N?! Are you listening?”
“Oh,” you managed, not even attempting to smile. “That’s great news.”
“I know. I mean, I’ve always wanted to be married before thirty, and here I am, getting to do just that. Louis and I will be getting married next year, though, so I suppose I’ll end out my twenties as—”
“Louis?” you cut in with a sharp tone, leaning across the table at the woman. “What are you talking about?”
“I knew you weren’t listening! I told you, I met my soulmate, Y/N. His name is Louis Grant.”
“When? I thought you were with Jaebum.”
“A month ago. We crossed paths at a work convention, and the connection was instantaneous. I went home that weekend and told Jaebum that I’d met my soulmate, and I wanted to pursue things with him instead.”
“You did what?” you breathed out, equal measures of relief and disgust roiling through you.
All this time, you had chosen your cousin over Jaebum. Over your soulmate. And Zara had dropped him as soon as she had found Louis.
“Jaebum was rather understanding. I think he’s met his soulmate already. I told him I was honoured he stayed with me all this time out of loyalty. I think his soulmate didn’t choose him. Poor guy.”
“She couldn’t,” you replied, and Zara frowned momentarily before gushing again about Louis.
You barely paid attention. Your mind was stuck on the man you had met six months ago. The one who had pleaded with you to stay, to listen, to figure another option.
Jaebum had been crushed by two women in this family now.
“Did Jaebum move out?” you blurted out, interrupting Zara a second time.
She gave you a concerned look. “No. We were both on the lease, so I left it to him. I moved in with Louis. Are you okay, Y/N?”
“No. Actually, I’ve got to go. Congratulations on your engagement and finding your soulmate, Zara,” you announced, grabbing your bag and scratching back your chair from the table.
You had to go find your soulmate now.
Tumblr media
You hesitated in front of the door, wondering if you should just leave and pretend you didn’t know anything. Jaebum hadn’t once asked Zara for your number, and whilst you had kept his, you didn’t dare save it into your phone, let alone dial it. For all you knew, Jaebum might want to wash his hands entirely of both cousins.
Still, there was yearning there. You wanted to reach out for his hand.
This time it wouldn’t hurt anyone to do so either.
“Are you going to knock or just stand there?” a voice asked from behind you after another fifteen minutes staring at the front door, and you whipped around so fast that you lost your balance.
Warm hands reached for your waist to right you, just as they once had months prior. They trembled against your skin, though Jaebum didn’t remove them, staring down at you in a daze.
He’d cut his hair. It was the first you noticed as you soaked him in, unable to stop your hand from stretching up into his black locks. Jaebum leaned into your touch, and you smiled gently.
He didn’t want you to leave this time.
“We need to talk,” he murmured, and you laughed as you nodded.
“That seems to be your favourite sentence, Jaebum.”
He groaned. “Say it again.”
“Your favourite sentence?” you teased, and Jaebum’s grip burned hotter against your side. “Jaebum. My soulmate.”
“My soulmate,” he echoed, shunting you towards the front door. You eyed him warily, and he smirked. “Listen, the reason I say that sentence so often in your company is that you’re so eager to disappear on me. And this time, that’s not happening.”
“No?”
“You’re on my doorstep,” he reminded, and you laughed. Jaebum stopped attempting to unlock his door, instead caged you against it.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” he whispered, closing the gap between you both a little, now breathing in the same air. His cologne was woodsy and musk, and you inhaled deeply.
“I thought you wanted to talk.”
“Oh, we have plenty to talk about, but there’s only one thing I want to ask you right now, “he murmured, lips now dangerously close to you. Your heart was a beacon calling out to his, and your hand slipped onto his chest, feeling the answering thud of his back. Jaebum smiled. “Can I kiss you?”
You pressed your lips to his in response, your mind imploding in the process.
You had kissed before but never had you felt like this. As if you were slotting against a puzzle piece that was made to be next to you. His mouth was the perfect fit, and as Jaebum’s tongue begged entrance to greet yours, you each let out a moan at how amazing this felt.
It was as if you had been dying of thirst all this time, and now his kisses were your salvation.
Eventually, Jaebum pulled back after nipping your bottom lip, each of you breathless and gripping the other tightly. You watched as he took you in again, a slight shake of his head in wonderment. You cupped his cheek within your hand. “I’m sorry I walked away all those months ago.”
“I’m not,” he answered, finally turning the key in the door. It opened and he guided you backwards into the entryway wall, shutting the door behind you both before he ran his hand down your side affectionately. “I missed you like crazy. Which is odd, right? We had one day.”
“Not even a whole day,” you corrected, and Jaebum groaned at the words.
“Not even a whole day with you, and you broke me somehow. But I didn’t want to hurt Zara either. You were right. It was a less than ideal—”
“Meeting, not match,” you supplied before he could, and Jaebum grinned.
“I didn’t just stick it out with Zara. I was committed to her. And I figured if we were meant to be, something would make that happen. I respected your decision to walk away from me. You were showing more strength than I was in that moment.”
“I didn’t want to hurt either of you,” you admitted, your thumb running over the side of his face gently. It was strange how natural it felt to touch him.
Even though you had been aghast with Zara’s reaction to her soulmate earlier, you could understand it a little. There was something about Jaebum that made you know you couldn’t be with anyone else like this. He made you feel fully alive.
“It sounds awful, but when Zara came home and explained she met her match, I was relieved. Even more so when she explained she hadn’t given in to her desires before telling me the truth. So, I told her the truth too.”
You blinked. “You what?”
“I told her that you’re my soulmate, Y/N,” Jaebum announced, and you frowned. He reached to smooth your forehead out. “She was surprised and annoyed with both of us.”
“Annoyed?”
Jaebum chuckled. “She told me that we should have told her, and she would have accepted.”
“Why didn’t she tell me? Or come and see me earlier than now? She’s been with Louis for a month!”
“I told her not to.”
You gaped at him. “Jaebum! I came here as soon as I knew. I didn’t waste another—”
He kissed you then, soft and sensual. When he finally pulled back, Jaebum smiled. “I asked her not to. Believe it or not, I did get dumped, you know. I had some things I needed to clear out from my life. Chapters to close type of thing. I wanted to make sure that when I approached you again, and believe me, I was preparing to, that you’d have no reason to walk away from me. That you’d find nothing but the ideal match in me.”
“I almost can’t hate you for that,” you confessed with a sob-laugh, burying yourself into his chest. Jaebum held you tightly and laughed too, running his hand up and down your spine.
“Don’t hate me. You can’t.”
“I don’t think it’s possible to,” you admitted into his chest and felt his lips on your head. “But Jaebum?”
“Yeah?”
You pulled back and smiled at him. “I think it’s time you and I have a talk, don’t you?”
Laughing heartily, he reached for your hand and pulled you further into his home. “First, let’s eat a meal together. You can tell me all about how attractive I am for being left-handed again.”
“I meant different!” you exclaimed, grinning as he laughed yet again.
“Well, let me show you just how different I am from all the other people you’ve ever met.”
You couldn’t wait for him to do just that.

“Jaebum… what’s it like?”
His mind raced with a thousand questions. What did she mean, what was it like? Fucking? The discomfort when he couldn’t remember the name of the girl he was undressing? Feeling alone but always having your bed occupied?
“I don’t understand what you’re asking me.”
“I mean, what’s it like to know you can have anyone you want, whenever you want them?”
She searched his face for a reaction, eyebrows knit together in a way that confused Jaebum. He didn’t understand if she was angry with him, or confused, or something else… and frankly, she didn’t know either.
“I wouldn’t say I could have-” he began feebly, trying to defend himself.
“Stop,” she cut him off. “You know you could have just about anyone you put your mind to. I’ve seen you walk in here with fucking models… what’s wrong?” Suddenly his strong stance had slumped over, almost defeated-looking, while his head hung downwards. She hadn’t intended for her question to hurt him, but it seemed she had struck a sensitive subject.
“It’s sad,” he stated plainly, his voice slightly weak. ““I’ve reached the point where I don’t even enjoy it anymore. My whole mind shuts down and sex becomes as mundane as… fuck, I don’t know. Making toast? Whatever, you get the point.” The words pulled on y/n’s heart, but a small chuckle slipped from her lips at his comparison. Jaebum returned his gaze to her with a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, now more comfortable in her presence. Breathing deeply, he began again.
“I know it sounds stupid, but it really does get hard. It’s like running in circles because you’re too afraid to go off the path.” Thoughts continued pouring out of him as he explained everything, from his first heartbreak to fear of falling for someone who didn’t reciprocate feelings. After emptying himself of the overwhelming emotion he had been holding captive for so long, he swallowed hard and lowly wrung his hands, nervous as he waited for her reaction.
“Jaebum, you can always come to me about these things. I’m here to listen and understand. I promise, you’re safe.” Her features were soft and he knew the words were genuine. A wash of relief swept through him, quenching a thirst he didn’t know he had. It was a thirst to be understood, to be vulnerable. More than lust, it was a burning for a connection, someone that he would remember for longer than a night and knew he could trust to remember him back. Casual fucking could only tide him over for so long, and his ache for true affection was creeping up.  He had been avoiding love, trying to block out any opportunity for him to be hurt like he had been so many times before. But as y/n stood across from him in the dimly-lit kitchen, wide-eyed and ready to listen, the ability to control his genuine feelings vanished.
Without another thought, he closed the distance between them in a few sweeping steps, grabbing her by the small of her back and pressing his lips against hers. He kissed her with paradox rolling off his tongue: desperate for more of her immediately, but not wanting to expose her in such an intimate manner yet. Her hands laced around the back of his neck as she fought to deepen the kiss, pulling him closer from need. Feeling her press her body up against him was the only thing Jaebum needed before he began guiding her to the couch, still joined at the lips as he laid her carefully on her back. Pausing, he took a moment to admire her beauty, just as she had done last night by the glow of the television screen.
“Can we do this?” His eyes filled with desire while he restrained himself from moving any further, careful as to not do anything she wasn’t ready for.
“Yes.” Her voice was confident as the magnetic connection linking them grew stronger, crashing their lips back together in passion. His tongue moved desperately with hers before she felt his teeth tug gently on her bottom lip. Soon, his hands were running down her sides, pulling her hips closer to the bulge she felt growing under his thin pajama pants. The idea of her moaning in pleasure for him consumed Jaebum’s thoughts, wanting so desperately to be genuinely intimate.
“Are you ready?” His hot breath brushed against her ear and she nodded quickly. They eagerly undressed each other as Jaebum drank in every inch of her naked figure, his thoughts swimming in desire. He intertwined their fingers and his length slid deeply inside her, causing her back to arch and his name to breathily escape from her lips. For the first time in a long time, he was fully immersed in the act, not wanting to miss any moment he had with her. Each thrust blurred her vision, sending her toes curling and her breathing to become sporadic. Never had his thoughts been so focused on someone’s pleasure that wasn’t his own, and the sight of her face twisting in ecstasy beneath him was almost enough to send him over the edge. He had a strong urge to fuck y/n hard and rough, but Jaebum took his time, wanting to be sure she felt every inch of him filling her. His ability to control himself weaken the second his lips met hers once again, and immediately his thrusts became more desperate, longing to reach his high and give her one of her own. She saw his toned biceps flex above her, struggling to support himself as the sensation of being inside her overwhelmed his body. A wave of pleasure soon flooded her body, and her loud moan caused him to lose himself in her just as she had done moments before. They collapsed, breathing heavily in their exhausted states. Jaebum suddenly felt more naked than he did previously, aware he had given her a side of him that had never been exposed before. Noticing his discomfort, y/n pulled him into her chest and kissed the top of his head gently.
“I promise Jaebum… you’re safe here.” His body instantly relaxed, and soon they both drifted off to sleep, enjoying the warmth of their bodies pressed against each other and the comfort of truly feeling at home.

Not Your Type (1)
jaebum au series
one  masterlist
Tumblr media
pairing: jaebum x reader(female) genre: roommates, slowburn, mature plot: you and jaebum are new roommates, and sharing with the opposite gender can be difficult. especially with the off-chance that one of them might be into the other and ruin the whole arrangement. luckily, that would never happen with you and jaebum, because you aren't each others type... right? a/n: new fanfic even though I have two ongoing ones. hope y’all like the first part and show it love <3
When you had your entire life planned out for you, everything was suffocating you. You could be sitting in a field with the open sky stretching blue above you, and you'd be drowning in the sunshine. Every breath you took smothered you, no matter what you were doing, where you were.
You were always struggling.
But then you learned the secret to life.
In all honesty, it's pretty simple, just three words that have surrounded you since you were a child: let it go.
Let that toy go, and you won't have to fight with Lily and feel sad anymore.
Let that crush go, and you will stop hurting over someone who doesn't even know you.
Let go of that expectation that isn't even your dream, and you'll be free.
Whenever something is bothering you, you let it go. It is really that simple.
You might not be as successful or wealthy as your younger self and parents had hoped, but you were happy. You could be in the crappiest, smoke-filled apartment and be happy. You didn't mind the loud music, the loud sex, the lazy roommate you had.
It didn't bother you cause you let it go and did not bother you.
But some things you couldn't let go of. For example, your roommate's sleazy boyfriend trying to hook up with you, and when you refuse him, he flips the switch on you. And then your roommate believes him over you when you tell her that he is a creep.
She lets you go, and you let the apartment go.
Now, you were standing outside the apartment of some girl named Jihyo, ready for a new adventure. If anything, this was a gift, a sign, to leave that apartment that drained the energy out of you. You were so convinced that you wouldn't find another place as cheap as that apartment that you never tried.
Your certainty was not misplaced, though. You had spent hours online trying to find an affordable and pleasant place that wasn't a trap by a creep or in worse condition than your last apartment.
Just as you were about to give up, a miracle happened, and you found an apartment in a new building three blocks away.
The rent was thirty dollars cheaper, and the apartment was stunning in the photos. You cyberstalkered Jihyo to make sure she was a real girl and not a catfish.
When you saw her LinkedIn, you were satisfied that this girl was real.
You rang the door of her apartment and waited for her to answer. You looked at your phone and saw you were three minutes earlier than the decided time. And then those three minutes passed, and no one answered the door.
You hesitated and rang the bell again.
You pulled out your phone to message her when the door swung open.
"Hi-" the friendly greeting died off as you took in the male who opened the door. You were expecting Jihyo to answer; maybe this was her boyfriend. You cleared your throat and drew the smile back again, "Hey, is Jihyo home?"
His sharp eyes glared as he took you in, and you unconsciously took a step back. He rose an eyebrow at you in question, and he didn't say anything else. You peered over his shoulder and into the apartment in hopes of seeing Jihyo.
"She's not here," he replied gruffly. You followed his fingers as they ran through his dark wet hair.
"Okay," you averted your gaze down to your phone to avoid his intense stare. You looked at the time and licked your lips nervously, "When will she be back?"
"Three months, maybe," he shrugged nonchalantly, almost leaning on the doorframe.
You just stared at him blankly as your entire world drowned in silence. This has to be a joke.
"Hahaha," you spoke the laugh politely, "You have a good sense of humor. I was supposed to meet her today for the apartment."
"Oh," his brows furrowed together as if something clicked in his mind. He pulled out his sleek black phone from his back pocket and looked up to you, "You're Mark's girlfriend?"
"What?" It was your turn to furrow your brows.
"His sister then?" you stared at him blankly. "Friend?"
"No," you said slowly, as you looked over to the bags and boxes against the wall of the corridor, "I am Mark."
"You are... a girl..." he trailed off, looking up from the luggage you had gestured to. And then his eyes widened as he rushed out quickly, "Shit. Did I misgender you? I am so sorry-"
"No, it's okay-"
"-Nah man, that was stupid of me."
"No, I am a girl."
"And your name is Mark?"
"Actually, that's just my username; it's Bae-Mark."
He started at you for a long time as you held your breath, waiting for him to say something. You looked down the hall towards the elevators and hoped Jihyo would walk through it any moment and solve this whole thing.
"Bae?"
"Before Anyone Else Mark," you muttered, embarrassed. "He's a really talented idol."
The guy in front of you closed his eyes and took a deep breath in. You watched his lips twitch as if he was trying to hold back a laugh.
"We thought your name was Bae Mark." he opened his eyes and pursed his lips.
"That's understandable," you nodded with a tight smile, "I messaged Jihyo my real name after we finished talking."
"I didn't get a notification," you followed his gaze as he frowned at his phone.
"I texted her number, not on the app."
"Oh, right," he drew his lips into a line again.
The elevator dinged open, and you twisted your neck so fast you almost cracked it. You were hoping the girl from the profiles you stalked last night would come out, but it was a couple of middle-aged women who didn't disguise their fascinated stares as they walked by.
"Um, can I come in and wait for her inside?" You looked back at the dark-haired boy.
"She's-- Yeah, come in," he signed, nodding his head. He stepped outside to help pick up your boxes. He weighed it in his arms and looked at you as you picked up the large bags, "How did you get all this here?"
"I bribed a couple of kids fifty bucks and ice cream." You heaved the bag in. You turned back to see him making his way in behind you. "Which way is the room? I'll just put this in there now."
He looked startled and perplexed for a moment, and you almost yelled at him to speak faster as the handles of the bag painfully dug into your skin.
"It's the door on the left, over there," he gestured to the right with his head.
//
"Thanks," you smiled at him as he gave you a can of coke. You cracked it open, taking a big swig of it, and then tried not to burp as the cold liquid slid down your throat. You looked up to find the guy leaning against the counter, "I didn't get your name."
He looked up to your smiling face and replied with a tight smile, "Im Jaebum."
"I'm y/n," you replied, and he nodded, looking at his can with interest.
The silence fell over you once again, and you wanted to disappear into thin air.
You looked at the door, hoping that Jihyo would walk in any moment.
"So, what time does Jihyo get home usually?" You wanted to ask about his relationship with Jihyo, but you didn't want to overstep your boundaries. You knew he wasn't a roommate here since the ad said you'll only be sharing with one person.
If you had to guess, you'd say boyfriend or brother or a really close friend, from the way he looks completely at home leaning against the marble top counter. And his hair was soaking wet when he opened the door, so he was probably taking a shower here too?
Has to be a boyfriend.
"Actually," he started, licking his lips nervously. You observed him as he physically cringed and continued with a pained expression, "I think there has been a mistake."
Oh god, no.
You were going to lose this house. He had beat you into getting the apartment. That's why he was showering and already knew the way around the place. When the hell did he even get here to be so familiar? Cause last night when you talked to Jihyo, she was happy to have someone finally move in.
And why did he let you move your bags into the room? That psycho, he was probably getting off by making a fool of you.
When you didn't say anything, he continued hesitantly.
"We thought you were a guy," you nod at his words; you had already covered that at the door. But isn't it better for a girl to share with another girl, so what's the problem there?
"And you thought you were going to live with a girl- with Jihyo."
You stared at him as the words sung in.
"I am not living with Jihyo then?" You thought out loud, looking at him confused. And then the realisation hit you, and he must have noticed it because he shot you a distressed look.
You pointed at him, and he nodded.
You bit your lip and let everything sink in. You were going to share an apartment with a boy. A very, very nice apartment, with cheap rent, and a great location.
You took in the male in front of you, and you realised he was gorgeous. You had realised he was attractive the moment he opened the door because you weren't blind. But looking at him carefully, he was beautiful.
He belonged in a magazine cover with his shape features and dark locks curling around his neck. Even in his home clothes, he was undeniably stunning.
So your decision was simple and easy.
"I don't have a problem with it," you told him with a blank expression. You raised your eyebrows at him. "Do you?"
He looked at you for a long moment before scratching the back of his head and stating, "I guess it's okay for a few days."
"Few days?" You frowned. "Would you be uncomfortable with it?"
"N-no," he stammered, looking away as his cheeks flushed pink.
"How about we have a trial period?" You smiled at him to put him at ease. He relaxed slightly at your words. "How about a month? I should be able to find another place in that time if things don't work out."
"Yeah, okay," he nods, staring at his can again. You stare at him curiously. Was he nervous, or was he not interested?
It felt as if the temperature of the room dropped as a cold silence dragged between the two of you.
He wasn't like this a moment ago...
And then you understood the reason for his sudden change.
"You're not my type, by the way, so don't worry about that," you told him, putting him to ease. You took a sip of your coke and looked out the ceiling to floor window. "The view from here must be amazing during nighttime."
You heard shuffling him behind you as he replied, "Yeah, it's pretty good."
You turned back to find him sitting on the barstools, a lot more comfortable now.
So that was it, you thought. It was so easy to guess the issue with the living arrangement. He was scared you were using this opportunity to get it on with him. He was so gorgeous; you don't feel offended by his accusation for a moment. He must have a lot of girls and guys trying to find ways to get closer to him.
But what you said was true too.
Good-looking guys, really handsome guys, were not your type. They were bad news wrapped in gold.
"So who is Jihyo, exactly?" You ask him as he swirls side to side in his chair.
"She's my older cousin sister." He answers, and you think that's all, but he continues. "She's working in the States right now."
"Oh, I thought she came back?" You tilted your head to the side, confused. You were sure you saw recent pictures of her here. Jaebum's eyes widen in fear, and you chuckle, realising how you sound. "Oh my god, I sound like a stalker. Actually, I did stalk her profile last night to make sure she was a real girl person and not a creepy dude luring girls being a catfish."
"Are you calling me a creepy dude?" He askes.
You stared at him and then realised what he was kidding. You chuckle and smirk at him as you answer, "Definitely."
He chuckles, shaking his head, and you realise how easy it might be falling for this guy. He was good-looking, no matter how long you looked at him, and he was soft-spoken and polite.
But you knew boys like him, and you didn't like boys like him.
You get up from your seat after a long moment of silence, "I should go unpack."
"Okay," he nods. "Let me know if you need anything."
"Sure, thanks," you give him a brief smile and walk into your room. You look at the bed and shake your head. It looked like a bed from heaven, as if it was stolen from an ad on tv for the comfiest bed ever.
You look at it longingly for a moment longer before sighing and looking at the boxes, "Work first, relax next."
Jaebum pov:
"Yes, he is very good-looking, Lily."
He didn't want to stand there and eavesdrop, but something about the way she said it stopped him. She said it like being attractive was a bad thing.
Her laugh carried through the wooden door, and he picked up the sarcasm quickly.
"Just because he looks like a work of art, it doesn't change anything," he overheard her say.
He wasn't phased by her words; he had heard all kinds of variations about his looks since he could remember.
But the following words made him frown, "There is no way a guy like him could turn my head. You know I don't like boys--"
Suddenly she laughed, and he smiled wider as he walked towards the bathroom.
He really didn't have anything to worry about.
She was into girls.

that was a very weird episode. like it was too much too over the top even by its own standard. it has gotten too self referential? I'm not sure I like it. What I do like is Song Joong Ki's beautiful face.. thank you God, thank you Kim Hee Won for lovingly filming his beauty. thank you.
Just keep Hanseo alive by the end of things, I don't even care if cencha happens at all. my investment in the ship went from I'd be pleased if it happens to maybe idgaf after all? lol. they obviously like each other, I don't need more. they are still cute and I enjoy their scenes but my emotional investment in it is very very low currently. maybe I have beef with the execution. maybe it's the PPL finally getting to me. and please, I really don't want a second season at the expense of quality here now. give us a clean break and come back only if you can guarantee good stuff.
Song Joong Ki's face tho.. bless. Song Joong Ki's everything... I am eternally grateful.

“So the plan is to get totally wasted.” Jackson said happily as he plopped down in one of the folding chairs, grinning as he held the bottle of vodka in his hands. The other’s looked at him with a raised brow and he frowned. “What?”
“If you wanted to get drunk, then why did you even suggest coming here?” Mark asked as he looked over at the other quizzically, laughing softly. “Jackson you could have stayed back in town and gone to Halloween parties with Amber like you planned.” he said.
Jackson snorted as he opened the bottle and sniffed it for a moment before looking back at Mark. “And miss spending time with you? What kind of boyfriend would I be?” he asked and quickly pointed to Yugyeom, whose mouth was open and ready for a snarky comment. “Quiet, no one asked you.” he said and snorted. “I would be a very bad boyfriend.” he replied and smiled. “Besides, it’s the holiday season. All holidays are spent with your lovers right?”
“Is that a rhetorical question?” Youngjae asked with a raised brow. “Or do you really want an answer to that?”
“I really want an answer to that. I don’t know these things.” Jackson said with a scoff. “Come on Youngjae, I’m new to this whole good boyfriend thing. I need a little guidance.” he pleaded. Mark laughed and reached over and took the bottle from Jackson’s hand and pressed the mouth to Jackson’s lips.
“Shut up and drink.” he chuckled and looked around their little campfire that they had going. It was Jackson’s idea to come out to the campsite near the lake just outside the city. It wasn’t a remote area, but it felt like it was an excellent place for young lovers to go and spend romantic nights alone. Or for a group of friends, such as they were, to spend one night getting plastered as they told ghost stories and celebrated Halloween.
“So booze, check.” BamBam said. “Friends...more or less check.” he said and laughed when Jinyoung smacked him with the plushie peach pillow he was holding. “Campfire, check. Time to enjoy ourselves on this fine spooky night. What should we do first? Get drunk? Make smores? Tell ghost stories or fuck?”
“We’re not fucking out here.” Youngjae said quickly with a wag of his finger.
“Why not? Brings you closer with nature.” Yugyeom laughed. “What? Didn’t bring the lube.” he teased.
“Shut up Yugyeom. Why would we have come all the way out here just to fuck?” Youngjae questioned.
“Good question. We didn’t. We came out here to have fun and be together.” Jaebum said. “So let’s have fun!”
“Alright, who brought mom?” Jackson asked and grinned as he passed the bottle of vodka over to BamBam who took a swig from it. “Don’t be a Debby Downer Jaebum. I plan to fuck Mark good in the tent later.” he said and threw a wink to his blushing boyfriend.
“Do you mean, Mark plans to fuck you good? We all know you don’t top.” BamBam teased, laughing as Jackson flicked him off.
“S’mores time yes?” Youngjae jumped in as he grabbed the bag with the marshmallows in it and held it up. “Come one, let’s make them and tell some ghost stories.” he said with an eager expression that had everyone stunned in silence.
“I mean…” Jaebum started and coughed to clear his throat. “I know I’m mom and all, but haven’t you fucked the prude out of him already Jinyoung?” he asked, staring at the younger male next to him who was just as in shock at his boyfriend’s words as Jaebum had been.
“Guess I didn’t do a good job.”
“Oh come on guys.” Youngjae whined. “Why is it so bad that I don’t want to talk or listen to talk of fucking and sex and relationships that I have no business knowing about? What you all do is all up to you. Why do I need to be a part of it?” he questioned.
“How did he get into our best friend club?” Yugyeom asked, pointing to Youngjae in question. “We’re men Jae, we talk about this stuff all the time. You need to get used to it. It doesn’t make you dirty or anything. If anything, it’s an expression of our love for our boyfriends and our trust in each other as friends.”
“Someone remove him from Philosophy class.” Bambam laughed and took the bag of marshmallows from Youngjae and opened it. He pulled one out and tossed it at Yugyeom, laughing. Yugyeom stuck out at his tongue at the other and rolled his eyes.
“Just relax Youngjae, okay? The hyungs are here to watch over us. Tonight we get shit faced drunk and have a good time!” Yugyeom said happily.
“We’re not your babysitters.” Jaebum laughed as he stood and walked over to his tent and grabbed the back of supplies he had been told to bring. He pulled out the little dowels for everyone and passed them out before tossing a box of graham crackers to Mark. “You’ll be our designated graham boy.” he chuckled and then looked at Jinyoung who held up the chocolate bars.
“I’ve got the chocolate.” he said happily.
“Good, let’s get cooking. All this talk about food is making me hungry.” Mark said and reached towards BamBam for a marshmallow.
“I thought we were talking about sex.” Jackson inquired.
“That too.” Mark agreed with a laugh and stuck his marshmallow into the fire to warm. The others followed soon afterwards as they were given their marshmallow and they sat around in silence for a while. They didn’t need to talk or anything. Instead they just stared at the fire, or worked silently on crafting the best s’more, each trying to outdo each other.
“So what kind of stories should we tell?” BamBam asked after about ten minutes of silence. He was fighting with his gooey marshmallow to stay on the cracker long enough to grab a few bars of the chocolate to put on it. “Like should it be true stories or shit we make up?” he asked.
“True stories, duh.” Jackson grumbled through a mouthful of s’more. “You’re all crap at making up stuff.”
“I take offense to that.” Youngjae grumbled and glared at Jackson. The young literature major was very good at making up stories. He had to do so for many of his class assignments and his teachers always gave him high marks. So he had to be good, right?
“Who cares if we make it up or not?” Jinyoung asked and grinned. “Let’s just tell stories okay?” he said. Looking over at Youngjae, he grinned as he smeared chocolate over his nose, pulling a whine from him.
“Alright, who’s first?” Yugyeom asked. With no one speaking up, a quick round of rock, paper, scissors was played until the order was decided. After a few failed stories from Bambam, Yugyeom and Jinyoung, it became Youngjae’s turn and the boys settled back in their chairs, eyes locked on the male as he prepared to tell his story.
“It better be good, Mr. Lit Major.” Jackson hummed as he sipped his cup. Youngjae rolled his eyes at him and cleared his throat.
“So I know a few of you aren’t natives of this province….or country.” he said and eyed Mark, Jackson and then BamBam. “Anyway, there is a legend in these parts that is really creepy.”
“Ooh what? Mr. Slasher Killer?” Jackson taunted and grunted when Mark smacked his chest.
“Shut up.” he hissed at him.
Youngjae threw a marshmallow at Jackson and shook his head. “Anyway, there is a legend about this lake.” Youngjae continued as he leaned in, hands folded over his lap. “About five years ago there was a string of murders that happened here. Young kids would come out here to party and fuck; what normal college kids would do. A group of friends ventured out here for a weekend getaway. They were here from Friday night and supposed to return home on Monday. When none came back they were reported missing. Police investigated and when they finally came out here to the campsites they found their mutilated bodies. Some parts were hanging in the trees.” He said and pointed to the large tree limb that hung over them. “Other parts strewn about, but there was a distinct way these body parts were left. They created a trail and the police followed it all the way down to the dock of the lake.”
“It was Jason!” Jackson announced.  Shaking his head, Mark reached out and covered Jackson’s mouth to keep him from talking again.
“Now the police thought it was just some crazy killer, but when the body parts were examined it was said that it looked like their flesh had been ripped apart by jagged edges of something and then even found teeth lodged into a bone. And after further inspection, it was a tooth that didn't belong to any known animal in South Korea, k or the world.”
“Really?” Bambam asked in shock.
“Ah! That's not true.” Yugyeom shook his head.
“It's true! Look it up.” Youngjae nodded and sat back, grinning. “You're turn hyung.” He called to Mark.
“How about we just drink?” Jaebum asked.
“What? Scared?” Youngjae teased and laughed at the other.
“No, I'm bored. Look I brought my speakers. Let's just rock out and drink before passing out.”
“I second that motion!” Jinyoung chimed in.
“Third!” Jackson shouted through Mark’s hand.
“Oh you big old party poopers.” Yugyeom huffed and glared at them. “Fine, let’s party.”  The others cheered. Setting up the speakers, Jaebum connected his phone to them and started the music, officially starting their Halloween bash out in the woods. Yugyeom, as always, was the first to be up and dancing, Bambam joining him shortly after.
Youngjae spent the majority of the time laughing loudly at the two dancing, Jinyoung talking with Jaebum about who knows what. Jackson watched them all with a smile before glancing at Mark. The other seemed enraptured with what was going on, but he wanted to change that. He had come up with this idea because he knew Mark liked camping. He also knew that he wanted to try fucking outside. So what better way than to combine the two and Mark extremely happy?
Grinning, he stood and walked over and took Mark’s hand, pulling him out of his chair and tugging him away from the campsite.
“Jackson, where are we going?” Mark asked as he stayed close to the other, following him down a well made path that eventually led them to the dock on the lake. “Oh Jackson come on.”
“What, scared of the monster lurking in?” Jackson teased, wiggling his fingers in Mark’s direction with a laugh.
“Honestly, yes. I'm going back.” Mark said and turned to head back to the camp, but was stopped as Jackson grabbed his arm and pulled him back against his chest.
“Oh come babe. That was just a story. There is no monster in the lake.” Jackson said, head dipping in to place gentle kisses along his neck. “Come on baby. Let's just have a little fun.” He cooed as he ran his hands over Mark’s chest and sides. “What do you say?”
Mark leaned back against him and whimpered softly as he enjoyed the touch of his boyfriend on his body. “Jackson.” Mark groaned.  “I hate you can make me feel this way and I can't fight back.”
“Don't fight it Mark.” Jackson encouraged as he grabbed the hem of Mark’s shirt and pulled it up slowly, teasingly. “Give in and let's play. I'll make you feel really good.” Jackson tried to tempt the other.
“God I know you will.” Mark muttered, letting Jackson pull his shirt off and toss it to the ground. Turning, he pressed against the other and kissed him hard, hand cupping the back of Jackson’s head for a moment before it dropped and started tugging on the other’s clothes.
In a matter of minutes they were both stripped bare and Jackson guided Mark into the water, shivering and laughing at first at how cold it was. Staying near the dock, Jackson pressed Mark against one of the support beams, his lips finding his once more. Soft moans left Mark as he returned the kiss, their hands running over each other's bodies and pressing into hotspots.
They were growing more needy and impatient. The last time they had sex was nearly two months ago when the new semester began. They needed more than anything at the moment and the tension between them was mounting the further they went.
“Oh fuck Jackson.” Mark moaned, head falling back to rest against the hard wound. Long arms wrapped around Jackson’s neck as one leg wound around his waist. Jackson grabbed onto the deck behind him, using it as a balance and leverage as he thrusted into Mark slowly. “Shit just like that baby.” Mark groaned out, fingers raking through Jackson’s hair.
“Fuck baby you feel so damn good around me.” Jackson groaned out in pleasure. “Always so tight and hot. Fuck, I love you so much Mark.” Mark panted softly and smiled widely as he leaned in and kissed him hard, lips parting as Jackson’s tongue pushed into his mouth. Their tongues danced around each other, fighting for dominance as Jackson’s pace grew faster and harder.
Breaking the kiss, Mark whimpered as he rested his head on Jackson’s shoulder as his moans grew louder. “Yes Jackson. Jackson!” He trembled against the other, water lapping at their chests as they moved together, rocking frantically as they chased their orgasms. Jackson’s cock was hitting that spot inside of Mark so well that the other was clenching tightly around his cock, the heat coiling so tightly inside him. Mark could feel his end nearing and just as he reached his peak, he was yanked back from it quickly as searing hot pain ran through his body, starting in his left leg.
“Ow! Shit!” Mark jerked and pushed Jackson away from him. Tears were already welling as he tried to grab into the deck. “Oh my god!”
“Mark? What's wrong?” Jackson asked worriedly, watching as his boyfriend tried and failed many times to climb out of the water.
“My leg! Fuck get me out of the water!” he said urgently. Chewing on his lower lip, Jackson moved behind Mark and helped the other out of the water and onto the deck. His eyes moved to Mark’s leg and widened as he stared at the large chunk of flesh that was missing from it.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” Mark shouted as he watched the blood pour from his wound. Jackson felt his heart race and he looked around the water. He thought he saw something appear before ducking back under to his left, but he didn't let himself stay and think about it. He grabbed onto the deck and hauled himself out of the water quickly.
“Fuck, fuck.” Jackson panted and for a moment searched the deck for something to help Mark. He grabbed one of their shirts and the belt from his pants and dropped to his knees next to the other.
“Jackson!” Mark cried out in pain.
“It's okay baby. I'm here. I'm here.” Jackson assured him as he wrapped the shirt around the wound, knotting it in place. He took the belt next and wrapped it a few inches above the wound and tightened it around his leg as tight as he could to stop the blood flow. Mark’s pained screams only grew louder through the process and it was killing Jackson on the inside.
“I'm so sorry baby.” Jackson apologized. He was going to say something else, but something hit the beams of the dock and he could hear the splintering crack of the wood and a sickening realization sunk in. “Okay Mark. Come on. Up we go.” He said and helped to pull Mark up onto his one foot. The other was unsteady and wobbled as pain continued to course through his body. Jackson doubted the other could walk even with his help and with doom looming over them, they couldn't spare a second. So bending, he slipped his arms around Mark and lifted the other up into his arms and started  running as the beams were struck by something again.
His feet barely touched the dry ground when the dock gave and caved into the water behind him. Jackson didn't look back though. He clutched tightly to Mark as he ran with the other, heading back to the site.  “Jaebum! Jaebum Hyung, start the jeep!” he shouted, hoping the others could hear him over the music. It didn't seem like they could though, and they got a huge shock when the pair came running in naked.
“Whoa. What the fuck happened?” Jinyoung asked as he stood and looked at the two.
“Oh my god is he bleeding? What happened to Mark?” Jaebum asked as he stared at the dark and wet shirt around Mark’s leg.
“No time, get in the fucking jeep!” Jackson shouted as he ran to the sitting vehicle and opened the back seat, helping Mark in before looking back. “Now!”
“But our stuff.” Youngjae protested.
“Fuck our stuff. There is something in the lake now let's go!” Jackson said urgently. The others looked at each other, trying to debate if they wanted to believe Jackson or maybe thought he was just too damn drunk, but in the end they all got up and piled into the jeep. Jaebum took to the wheel and started the car, turning the lights on as everyone got situated.
“What happened to mark?” Yugyeom asked.
“Something bit me in the water!” Mark sobbed and cried out in pain.
“It took a fucking chunk out of his leg!”
“What are you talking about?” Jaebum asked as he turned to look back at the other. “That sounds fucking crazy.”
“I know it does, but it's the truth!” Jackson insisted. The chaos of the jeep came to a screeching halt as Youngjae suddenly grabbed Jaebum’s arm.
“Reverse. Reverse. Reverse!” he shouted and Jaebum turned around in time to see some creature heading straight for them, mouth open wide, rows of sharp teeth on display. Jaebum threw the jeep in reverse and stepped on the gas, tires squealing as they lurched backwards and to the side as the jeep moved. Throwing the jeep into drive, the tires skidded as they lurched forward and sped off, heading back onto the main.
“Holy fuck! Holy fuck!” Bambam shouted as he turned and watched as they drove off the creature becoming nothing but a distant dot, quickly giving up on them.
“Jesus christ.” Youngjae panted.
“What the hell was that?!” Jinyoung shouted in shock.
“I don't know, but whatever it was, it bit Mark and collapsed the dock!” Jackson said, his arms wound tightly around his boyfriend as he rocked the sobbing male gently. “Shhh, baby. It's okay. We're taking you to the hospital. It'll be okay baby.” Jackson tried to reassure him.
“It's real.” Youngjae whispered.
“What?” Yugyeom asked.
“It's real. The story I told. It's really real and that was the fucking thing that killed those people.” Youngjae said, his heart racing. “We just escaped death.”
“Good. I don't plan to die anytime soon.” Jaebum said. “Don't worry Mark, we'll be at the hospital soon.”
~_~
The group didn't return to collect their stuff until the next morning with the help of a police escort. After reporting the incident and taking testimonies, the police went out to search the area but found no trace of whatever creature they had encountered the night before. Though the statements of the dock being broken and submerged into the lake were true. Their campsite had been left untouched, however, which baffled the police even more and added to the mystery. Not a single thing out of place, not even the cooler had been disturbed by the raccoons that would have undoubtedly come out to scavenge.
Whatever happened at the lake would remain a mystery. The police report would read that it was a horrible camping accident committed by drunk college students. Mark, though missing some of his calf, would eventually heal and be released from the hospital a few months later with a clean bill of health. And while time slowly healed all physical wounds, nothing would be able to erase the memories of that night and the terrible creature that tried to kill them.

Conveniently Yours - Epilogue
Tumblr media
Summary: You knew better than to enter a marriage of convenience with your boss’ grandson. But you wanted that senior partnership, and it wasn’t as if Jaebum was a stranger - you knew him rather intimately. It was only a year together, and then you could divorce him and achieve your biggest career goal. But would it be as simple as that?
Pairing: Im Jaebum x female reader
Genre: romance / marriage of convenience
Warnings for overall story: suggestive, swearing, mentioning of body parts and sex, a miniscule amount of angst, inequality in the workplace, a disapproving mother-in-law. In this part: that typically cliche ending trope I tend to overuse and need to stop using *coughpregnancycough*
Prompt: no prompt
Author’s note: This story is a drabble/mini series. It covers over an entire year in just eight short parts. It’s not as in-depth as this world could have been done, but I hope you enjoy it all the same.
Word count: 690

“Mrs Im, can you please explain to me why the senior partner of my law firm is on a sudden leave?”
Smiling up at Jaebum as he entered your bedroom, you watched as your husband soaked you in silently, his eyes slowly blinking.
“You’re in bed.”
“I am.”
“You’re never in bed. What’s wrong? Did that asshole Park give you yet another migraine? I swear, we should have left him at Im and Jones. Fantastic lawyer or not, you could have partnered with anyone else in this sector.”
“Jinyoung isn’t the reason I’m in bed right now, though he wasn’t thrilled I’d be taking a leave of absence.”
“Did you hurt yourself? I told you those heels you insist on wearing are dangerous.”
You rolled your eyes, remembering the multiple times he had removed you out of everything you wore but those heels. “No, I didn’t fall. Though, I guess I better be more careful in the future.”
“I’m not following.”
“What do you think about this house here?” you asked, turning your laptop around to show Jaebum. “It has four bedrooms and a reasonably sized backyard. It could do with some renovations, which we could get done over the next few months before we can’t.”
Jaebum merely stared at you.
“I know when your grandfather asked me to sign up as your wife five years ago that he wanted great-grandchildren, and I almost laughed in his face at the mere concept. And then, when I broke out of the contract and left the firm, he wasn’t thrilled with me at all. Especially since I stole his other favourite candidate to boost my newly purchased law firm. But do you reckon he’ll forgive me for all of that in nine months’ time? Well, more like seven. It turns out that morning sickness doesn’t come as early as—”
Jaebum’s lips crashed down on yours desperately, stealing away your breath and the rest of your sentence.
You had taken the leave of absence for only a week. You knew when it came to actual maternity leave that you would be more concerned about the running of your firm. By then, though, you would have trained up your recent employee to handle your cases as you took a much-needed break from the stresses of other people’s relationships.
You needed to focus on your own a little more carefully now.
“You’re pregnant?” he finally asked when his kisses turned tentative, as if he needed to be careful with you. “I thought you didn’t possess a single maternal bone in your body?”
“Hey! I think I do okay with Mark and Tessa’s triplets, don’t you? If I can babysit three of them for an evening, I’m sure to do fine with just one of our own.”
Jaebum’s mouth tipped up. “You sure it’s just one?”
“Thankfully,” you admitted with a quick exhale that made him laugh. “I had to get it checked immediately as soon as the test came back positive.”
“And to think, you were going to give this all up after a year with me,” Jaebum teased, kissing your temple as he finally joined you on the bed. You watched him soak you in with those bedroom eyes of his, laughing silently at how they had finally gotten you in the predicament you now faced.
“You had your chance to escape back then.”
Jaebum kissed you as he shook his head slowly. “There was no way I could escape you. I was yours long before our marriage of convenience.”
“Conveniently mine?” you wondered as his hands explored your body, eliciting waves of arousal despite the first trimester fatigue you were resting at home with.
“Conveniently yours,” Jaebum agreed, kissing you again.
“I could get used to that. I mean, if this marriage needs to have a reason, it ought to be that I belong to you, right?”
“No modern woman like yourself would belong to anyone.”
“Not anyone else,” you confirmed in a whisper, staring into the eyes of the man who had loved and worshipped you for years. “But for you, I think I can negotiate that into our ongoing contract.”

Roommates (Part 2)
Roomates (Part 1) and Roomates (Part 3) and (Part 4)
Summary: When y/n is forced to rent out her extra room, Im Jaebum was the last person she expected to have to share her living space with… luckily, he kept things interesting.
Genre: romance (kinda?? it’s coming I promise), hot roommate (okay guys i’m officially making it a genre), playboy!, (NEXT CHAPTER’S GONNA GET SMUTTY Y’ALL)
Word Count: ~1000
A/N: Hi everyone!!! Thank you so much for the positive feedback on part 1, I’m glad so many people enjoyed it! I have one more section I want to write and then it’s done!! This part is kind of a transition portion more than anything I think, but let me know your thoughts anyways. ALSO I will do requests if anyone has any?? I just realized this week that I haven’t ever really said that so feel free to send them in if you want!
Update: Part 3 is up y’all! and Part 4!
Tumblr media
It had been almost a week since he had walked through the door and almost a week since y/n had officially lost her sanity. Jaebum often spent his time locked away in his room doing God knows what, blasting away what sounded vaguely like Bryson Tiller, emerging only for food and the occasional bathroom break. He had hardly said more than two words to y/n since their first meeting. She regularly wondered if he still knew she existed, and her infatuation with him was quickly turning into plain hatred.
When his music wasn’t shaking the walls, they were often shaking for other reasons. Every night since he had arrived, a new woman had come in with him through the front door, often scantily dressed but always beautiful. Although she had grown accustomed to his playboy ways, tonight her annoyance had peaked. Judging by the sudden quiet and sound of sprinkling water, he had finally finished his nightly fucking and was now jumping in the shower before calling it a day. Because y/n couldn’t sleep from all the noise going on, she decided to curl up on the couch with her favorite blanket and turn on whatever show was playing on Adult Swim. As she reached for the remote, a towel-clad Jaebum and his beautiful play thing passed through the living room. They exchanged a quick kiss goodbye before he softly closed the front door behind the woman.
Turning around, he sighed heavily and began walking back towards y/n.
“I hope we didn’t bother you,” he stated half-heartedly, leaning up against the entertainment center casually. He inspected the nails on his left hand, biting the rough edges while his right hand gripped the towel that hung loosely around his waist. She was surprised he would even mention it considering they had hardly exchanged more than just polite greetings to each other, but she took the opportunity to shamelessly admire while he spoke. Regardless of his annoying behavior, she couldn’t deny the fact she was still attracted to him, especially in this state. Now that he was so close to the television, y/n could see in better detail the man she had been living with for the past week. Although the screen illuminated the strong bone structure in his face, his body was what truly distracted her. Blue light bounced off his clearly defined collarbones and highlighted each ridge of his chiseled torso, causing her breathing to become as shallow as it was the day she met him.
“It’s fine,” she muttered, snapping her eyes to the TV to stop from staring. “I would just appreciate it if you kept it down a little sometimes.”
“I can’t really control it.” Y/n noticed a sly smile creep across his face as his attention shifted from looking at his hand to her. Immediately she caught onto the game he was trying to play, and she was determined to not let him win.
“Hm, I suppose not. Thankfully you don’t usually last too long.” She pursed her lips together and looked him dead in the eye before returning her gaze back to the television. His eyebrows raised in shock. Normally he was the one with the upper hand in this sort of situation, but now it was his turn to be speechless. He pushed his tongue into the side of his cheek, trying to think of a sharp comeback before admitting defeat and silently returning to his room while y/n remained in the living room, full of pride from her victory.

“Oh FUCK!” A moan rang throughout the house, accompanied by the sounds of a squeaky mattress and Jaebum’s headboard banging against the wall. It was now two in the morning and the pair had been at it for hours. Between this and last night’s altercation, y/n was at her wit’s end and abruptly threw off her covers before angrily stomping to his room.
“HEY,” she shouted, pounding her fist against his door, “CAN YOU GUYS MAYBE FUCK A LITTLE QUIETER IN-” before she could finish her request, she was interrupted by a woman screaming Jaebum’s name and then the slight opening of his door.
“Sorry, y/n, we were a little occupied. What’d you need?” A devilish grin spread on his lips as he stood halfway in the doorway. Anger boiled up inside her at the sight of him, his dark hair messily touseled on his head and plaid pajama pants hanging loosely around his waist, the glistening of sweat still evident on his face.
“I was just going to ask you to keep it down in…” again, she was interrupted, this time by the further opening of Jaebum’s door and an attractive brunette appearing.
“Sorry I can’t stay any longer, Jae. I had fun tonight.” The woman winked at him before kissing his cheek lightly and throwing a look of disgust at y/n before exiting. As soon as the front door closed, she redirected her anger at him once more and continued to rant.
“Seriously, what the fuck. You realize it’s late as hell, right? I’m trying to sleep and all I hear is you two in there getting it on like you have to fucking repopulate the world by yourselves.” A small chuckle escaped from his plump lips and he licked them seductively, causing her to grind her teeth in pure frustration.
“You told me last night that I don’t last long in bed,” he stated while his hand ran through his hair, “so I thought I should make it clear you were wrong.”
Fire ran through her veins and her jaw clenched tightly. That’s what he had kept her up for? To be petty? To fight her urge to smack him across the face, she turned on her heel and made her way back down the hall in hopes he would get the message and leave her alone. Unsurprisingly, he did the exact opposite of what she wanted him to do (in true Jaebum fashion) and was right on her tail, stopping only when they reached the kitchen and could go no farther. While y/n angrily grabbed herself a mug from the cabinet to make some tea to try and calm down, Jaebum propped himself up on the island, hands on the counter and arms straight. He was leaning forward like a lion stalking its prey, ready to get more revenge for the comment his roommate had made last night. As he opened his mouth to continue his attack, y/n turned and looked him straight in the eyes with a question that hit him like a ton of bricks.
“Jaebum…”
