even though my classes are online, i love spending time on campus when i can. studying around other people doing the same keeps me motivated.

these classes are tough, though. taking algebra and programming at the same time is…a lot. i knew it would be like this, but that doesnt make it any easier. i feel like i have so much to do and no time.

the sunset is often my anchor. stopping to admire the sky as day melts into night inspires gratitude and reminds me to be kind to myself. im trying my hardest to acknowledge and combat negative self-talk. i am not too stupid for this. i am capable.

first official week of school. the math may be simple, but i gotta start somewhere. it’s going ok so far, but i know we’re just getting started. it’s only going to get harder.

not sure about my programming class yet. apparently the section i chose is taught by a complete jackass, so im holding off on buying materials in case a seat opens up with a different professor before the end of the month.

anyway, after studying, i got to spend a couple hours reading. im now halfway through the good doctor by barron lerner, and i really am enjoying it.

later on, my dad invited my partner and i over for pizza, which was nice. any opportunity to lay on the couch with the doggos and spend time with dad.

then when we got back home we went out for a late night walk to enjoy the falling snow. i tried to take pics but my phone just doesn’t do it justice lol.

beautiful day for a window seat at the library!!

i spent most of the day stuck on one problem, trying (and failing) to get my code to work :/ i hate getting stuck. i get stressed out bc it feels like im not accomplishing anything.

it’s hard, but i need to keep in mind that when im stuck, im still learning. not only is learning the skill important, i need to learn practical ways to apply that skill in order to solve problems. the feeling of pride and accomplishment once i do figure it out will be so worth it.

in other news, i might qualify for early completion of my algebra course! as long as i get a 93 on my next test and im satisfied with my grade (hovering around an 88) i could be done! wish me luck!

going to start reading american gods by neil gaiman. it’s long, i don’t know if i’ll have the time for it, but ive been eager to dive into more of his stuff since i read ocean at the end of the lane last summer.

im also counting down the days to the stardew valley update, if you couldn’t tell. i’m so excited!! i can’t wait to start fresh with a new save and try out a different farm layout 💕

really appreciating that the sun is still out when i leave school in the evenings now. it’s nice not to have to wait for the bus in the dark.

here in new england, the weather can be pretty…indecisive. unpredictable. but the last 2 days have been gorgeous!! it seems like we’re finally settling into spring.

with only about a month left of the semester, things are starting to get intense. i can’t wait to be off for the summer. i could do summer classes, but i’d rather give myself the time to rest. i’m all registered for my fall classes though; i’ll be taking intro to java programming and college trigonometry (yikes lol).

hopefully everyone else’s semester is wrapping up nicely! what are your summer plans?

welp, i hauled ass and managed to change my major and register myself for the right classes exactly one week before the semester starts.

goodbye social work, hello computer science.

honestly, i am anxious as hell. this was a pretty sudden decision, im still not sure if im doing the right thing.

although, at the same time, i do feel a sense of relief. i felt so locked into social work. i was one class away from my associates, it was the longest id ever committed to anything. while i had felt drawn to the field by my empathy and my desire to improve others’ lives, i didnt realize how much pressure i was putting on myself. changing my major has allowed me to experience the feeling of doing something i want to do rather than doing something because i feel like i have to.

i probably would have initially gone to school for computer science in the first place, right after high school, had i not found the math requirements prohibitive. but that was ten years ago, and this is now. now i know i have adhd, which will make a world of difference, i think. the problem was never that “i cant do math,” it was that i wasnt getting the right support. nor was i aware i needed it.

anyway, if anyone’s read this far, wish me luck as i spend an extra year in community college trudging through three math classes and three programming classes.

finally, an intro post.

im jayden. im ace and agender (they/them).

i work in retail full time and im on my fifth (!!!) year in community college lmfao. decided to finally take a stab at a degree in my late twenties.

this is a studyblr. you’ll find study aesthetic with nature/cottagecore themes + my own academic goals/progress. no toxic productivity or romanticizing burnout here (that shit ain't healthy). i may sometimes post about my experience as a person living with mental illness (adhd and bipolar disorder). my original posts are tagged #jaydenstudies or #jaydenspeaks.

anyway, with only 2 classes left of my human services associates, i decided to change my major. i had originally planned to pursue a masters in social work, but now i’m working on a bachelor of arts in computer science with plans to minor (maybe double major? idk) in data science. my new long-term goal is a masters in public health.

when im not studying, i love playing video games and reading. i like wholesome games like the pokemon series, stardew valley, animal crossing, etc. im currently reading the sandman comics by neil gaiman after recently finishing some of his other books (ocean at the end of the lane and american gods).
