The first time Jin Guangyao held Jin Ling did not go as he'd expected. Jiang Wanyin, half-mad and barely functional, for some reason had been allowed into the nursery by Jin-furen. The moment whispers of this reached Jin Guangyao, of course he went to intercede; and it was fortunate he had. He could hear wailing halfway down the corridor.
"Why is he crying?" Jiang Wanyin demanded of the wetnurse as he held the baby incorrectly.
"This one is sure Sandu Shengshou knows better than her," she replied, eyes wide. Jin Guangyao made note of this, but he had few hopes of improvement. Jin servants knew to be meek.
"Obviously, I don't," Jiang Wanyin snapped, brows furrowed as he stared down at Jin Ling. Jin Guangyao purposefully brushed the silk of his robe, and like a dog Jiang Wanyin raised his head at the sound. "Lianfang-zun, what am I doing wrong?"
With a smile, Jin Guangyao moved between the shaking wetnurse and the mad dog of Lotus Pier. "Jiang-zongzhu, babies require support. Adjust your hand--yes, ah, slightly to the side--"
"Please just show me," Jiang Wanyin said, sounding tired as he held out Jin Ling.
The moment stilled. If his cultivation were better, Jin Guangyao believed he would hear the wetnurse's breath stop. She was, after all, expressly forbidden from allowing his whoreson hands to touch his nephew; yet neither of them could deny a sect leader.
A-Ling was warm and soft, sweetly heavy as all babies should be. His embroidered, daffodil-colored swaddling still burned with the heat of Jiang-zongzhu's high cultivation. Automatically, Jin Guangyao checked the boy for a fever; but of course no illness was allowed to fester in this child.
His chubby cheeks were red from crying, but as Jin Guangyao settled him in his arms, Jin Ling slowly quieted.
"As expected of Lianfang-zun," Jiang Wanyin said, slightly mocking.
When Jin Guangyao gauged his expression from under his eyelashes, however, Jiang Wanyin seemed wistful. He looked as young as he was.
(For a moment, Wen Ruohan's laughter filled his mind. "Xiao-zongzhu" had been a common target of derision, in the beginning. Wen Chao's account of the rape of Lotus Pier had been unusually thorough, and its contents were well-known amongst Wen Ruohan's inner circle. Jin Guangyao had not included the details in his reports to either his father or Lan Xichen. He doubted that this discretion would matter at all to Jiang Wanyin, who had tortured Wen Chao at the side of Wei Wuxian. What would he do to Jin Guangyao for being the last to know?)
Choosing to ignore the self-deprecation and memories both, Jin Guangyao instructed Zidian's master on the handling of human children. Jiang Wanyin made an attentive student, but he did not reach to take Jin Ling even once Jin Guangyao finished. "Would you like to hold him?"
Frowning with concentration, Jiang Wanyin nodded and sidled closer. He held his arms as Jin Guangyao had shown him, and then he checked Jin Guangyao's face, seeking approval.
"Good," Jin Guangyao said. Jiang Wanyin didn't smile, but some tension eased. Careful not to touch hands, Jin Guangyao returned Jin Ling to his jiujiu.
The wetnurse's gentle "oh" described the scene well.
Against the black and violet, Jin Ling looked like a ray of sunshine piercing clouds. Jiang Wanyin's face cleared until he looked as delicately beautiful as gossip painted him to be; while Jin Guangyao generally considered him fragile, it was more in the sense of an arrow point designed to break once it pierced flesh. Now, though, he could understand why Jiang Wanyin was so often painted as a mourning lover spurned by the Yiling Laozu.
Then Jin Ling fell asleep, and Jiang Wanyin's eyes watered. He slowly settled onto the couch, careful not to jostle their nephew.
"How long can I stay?"
Ideally, half an incense stick. Jin Guangyao turned to the wetnurse. "Could you please ask Jin-furen to advise us?"
She bowed her head and left.
After a few moments, Jiang Wanyin said, "She needs guards in the room with her. If she can't even tell me I've fucked up, how will she fare against assassins?"
"Gold Scale Tower has many guards," Jin Guangyao began, but Jiang Wanyin snorted.
"Where do you think we are? If some pompous Jin cousin demands Jin Ling, would she say no? Much less someone with weapons drawn."
"As a servant--"
"Jiang servants can and would."
Jin Guangyao smiled. "Is it not true that Jiang servants are entirely comprised of disciples, disciple candidates, and those who failed to cultivate but chose to stay?"
"It's a sect," Jiang Wanyin answered. "Typically, they are operated like sects, yes."
"Gold Scale Tower must run in accordance with its scale," Jin Guangyao said. "The servants are often merely servants."
Jiang Wanyin, whose face displayed his opinion of that, said nothing for a moment, allowing Jin Guangyao to notice his headache. "She needs guards for herself, not just outside of the room," he repeated.
"Perhaps this is something you can address with Jin-furen?"
Looking up from Jin Ling, Jiang Wanyin studied him. "Alright. Is there anything else you want me to say?"
Jin Guangyao's fingers twitched with the desire to straighten his gold robes. "Between Jin-furen and Jiang-zongzhu, I am sure that all concerns have been considered."
"Please, you notice everything and didn't accept one single item I suggested for a-jie's wedding," Jiang Wanyin said. "Do you expect me to believe you don't have opinions on Jin Ling?"
Jin Guangyao inclined his head, and then he tentatively offered an observation and a suggestion. When Jiang Wanyin merely looked thoughtful, Jin Guangyao continued; while Jiang Wanyin occasionally asked clarifying questions, he never reacted emotionally.
It was... strange, to be in a room with this man, discussing the care of a child he wasn't allowed to do anything for. He wondered what he must look like to Jiang Wanyin to be accepted so easily as an expert on Jin Ling, on anything. Unsettling.
Yet unlike Nie Mingjue, being seen didn't seem dangerous; unlike Wen Ruohan, being noticed didn't accompany invitations to violence.
No, Jiang Wanyin observed him, and his conclusion was that Jin Guangyao could teach him how to hold his one treasure.
For the first time, it seemed like sharing a nephew with this man might be interesting, not simply alarming. Jin Guangyao looked forward to observing him further.

Weirdly efficacious to give wwx that phobia of dogs for childhood trauma reasons, because there's a level on which he absolutely has the personality of a domestic dog that has never learned to do as it's told and doesn't mean to start now.
#hoc est meum#one of those very smart very energetic breeds#that needs SO much enrichment#the kind they tell you do not try to keep this creature in a house#it needs so much space and ideally a job#but it ALSO wants to be a member of a family and live in a house and have everyone like it#unfortunately it was feral as a puppy and knows how to open doors#and you have to basically sit on it to keep it from involving itself in every single interesting thing that happens anywhere nearby#mdzs#like the way wwx is doglike as opposed to the dog in question being personlike is like#his record of being in families he does not in any normal sense belong to#his preference for being attached to one specific person#who may or may not be his Very Favorite person#and who he may or may not obey but will listen to first#and build his routines around#the...way he was in some ways the replacement for jiang cheng's puppies#and this bleeds into his role in jc's life among jc's peers#he's extremely assertive without actually wanting to be the boss of other people#or even of himself#yeah that's a key element: he wants someone to be the boss of him#he just doesn't actually have much interest in doing what they say#they're just in charge for emotional security reasons#this is a much more common personality for dogs than for humans lmao#though even with humans it's not THAT rare#he's just extreme about it#wei wuxian#but his anti-dog stance both draws attention to this sameness#and takes it off the table so it can't be read into too hard#see also the wen zhuliu parallels and where they break down#weird status subtext

Pro Jiang Cheng and mad about it
There was a time I was tolerant of fic with the tag "Not JC Friendly" b/c he's a difficult, somewhat off-putting character full of anger management issues, insecurities, and multiple inferiority complexes so yah, I get it, in certain stories he just won't come across well. That's valid.
But honestly it's just become a synonym for "Jiang Cheng character bashing" and usually stems from a lazy read of the character and, I suspect, some internalized self-loathing by the author. Or whatever.
Jiang Cheng can be infuriating and he's not good at communication and he needs therapy but:
There is never a scenario where WWX would hate him;
There is never a situation where JC doesn't feel genuine regret, shame, and frustration over his limitations;
There is never a time, place, or AU where he does not love Jin Ling with his whole entire heart.
Break any one of those precepts and I'm "peace out."

[Married RuoRen taking in run away JC]
WenQiCheng | Mo Dao Zu Shi Modern AU 25-04-2021
[#rencheng and #ruocheng (+married wenqi)]
Where jc decided he’s tired from all the pressure put on his shoulder by his mother and all the ignorance on jfm part (and wwx and jyl accidentally making it worst by time). So he decides to drop college without telling anyone, taking with him only the necessary (and also the little he actually has in his cheap apartment). He decides to simply run to another city with the little money he actually has. He simply drops everything in Yunmeng. Honestly, he didn’t really think it through when he did it, but he could possibly work through this, right? So he passed his night inside a cyber café, just so he could get some sleep without worrying, trying to look for a new job and a new place to live in. Maybe he should have planned this out beforehand.
But he won’t go back (at least not now), even less when it’s down on him neither of them actually /tried/ to contact him. Did they even notice he was gone? Was he /that/ insignificant to them that they wouldn’t notice he had been gone for a week and a half already?
So after a week and a half of this bad routine jc ends up surprised by the rain, running to the closest café to hide from it, trying to shield his bag from the rain, not wanting for the water to seep in and destroy his laptop. He ends up bumping into someone, surprised that someone was coming out as he was getting in. But he was a bit more surprised by the strong hand that grabbed him so he wouldn’t fall on the ground and get even wetter. He looked up, apologising many times as he looks to make sure the person didn’t spill whatever they might have gotten here. “Jiang Cheng?” he heard, making him stop in his apology. It took a little moment to recognise who had called out to him, only to realise it was lqr, an old friend of his family, or at least that’s how he felt like it was when he was younger.
Before he could really react, he was inside with lqr, sitting at a booth with some warm tea, generously paid by lqr who was now sitting in front of him. He was a bit unsure why the man had decided to sit down with him. Sure, he had a good memory of staying at the man's place when he was younger, mostly when his parents were going away and jyl just couldn’t take care of them. He had nice memories of a nice man sitting in silence as he did his homework or was reading next to him.
But it had been years since the last time he actually saw him, so why was he here now sitting with him? Plus he was probably not looking really great. He has not actually eaten correctly in days, nor had he slept well in days.
They talk a bit, lqr trying to see how he was doing, pushing just a little bit enough to have jc actually admit to how he was doing right now (which was rather bad). jc was surprised when he was suggested to come to his house, which he was about to reject out of not wanting to be a bother, but his stomach quickly made itself known and lqr arched a brow at his silence. He ends up accepting, feeling like lqr wouldn’t accept any other reply (but also he was really hungry, cold and only wanted to take a nap). So the older man took him home, let him take a nice and warm bath as he prepared him some food. Jc is even surprised that the food isn’t as bland as he remembered, wondering if lqr had started eating something else than food with no seasoning.
He’s slowly coaxed to take a nap in the guest room just like when he was younger, lqr actually managing to make him take one, now feeling even more than before the weight of tiredness on him. So he goes to sleep as lqr promises him to take care of his clothes.
He wakes up hours later to the nice feeling of someone pushing a strand of hair out of his face, slightly playing with his hair. He lean into the touch, reminded of when jyl would take care of him when he was younger and sick.
But then he remembered he was not home.
He quickly opened his eyes, only to find someone sitting on the side of the bed, which was very much /not/ lqr. His brain takes a moment to compute that this is wrh, making him even more confused because he does not understand why the man is here.
He’s reaction seems amusing enough because the man laughs as he takes back his hand, apologising (clearly without meaning it) for startling him like this. “But I couldn’t leave since you trapped me here” he points out, jc hands very much grabbing at him without knowing it, quickly letting go with a blush.
They are soon joined by lqr who was bringing back some clean clothes, so he could change out of the ones he had borrowed (which were wrh ones). He doesn’t dare ask why wrh is here, but after looking closer, he can see both of them wearing matching rings on their fingers, which seems enough of an answer. He’s quick to say he doesn’t want to intrude on them, that he is thankful for lqr generosity, but he doesn’t want to abuse it. “But you don’t have anywhere to go, nor a job to find somewhere to go” point out wrh. He flushes a bit, ashamed of the truth of his situation. Maybe he should have thought this through a bit more before doing anything. “You can stay for as long as you need, I would rather know you safe than sleeping in weird places, I am sure your family would think the same” admit lqr.
The last part only makes him feel worst, reminding him none of them had actually noticed. Sure he had received messages from wwx, but they were the usual ones where he was talking about news, clearly not knowing he was gone. “If it can make you feel better, you can always help a bit around the house” suggest wrh, only to get a look from lqr, “Like this, you won’t feel like you are abusing anyone's generosity”.
Jc thought about it a bit, before nodding. It sounded like a nice deal, he had learned how to take care of his place since he lived alone, he could help with chores here too, the idea made him feel a bit better than just staying here without doing anything. So this is how he ended up staying at the couple's house for as long as he needed to find a new job and somewhere to live (and maybe figure out what he was going to do about his study).
It was a bit weird at first, but soon enough jc managed to enter the couple routine, there’s probably changing a bit to include him. And it felt a bit... weird. He was not being ignored most of the time, the two men would actually check up on him and make sure he was alright. They were even helping him out in finding a new part-time job(lqr making sure he don’t mistake it as them trying to kick him out as fast as possible). It was really nice having people actually help him out for once and not throw something random at him hoping it would be enough. Doing the chores was never hard, especially when lqr was already someone who would keep things rather tidy all the time. There was something nice about eating with other people and being included in the conversation other than about his grades. Even just sitting around in the living room while no one was really doing anything was really nice and relaxing.
It was nice because there were people with him. It was nice because these same people were not ignoring him or putting high expectations on him. Heck, even if he didn’t really manage to do all the chores, he wanted to do neither of the men would say anything.
But something he tried to hide was how much he loved their praises. It was always casual and nothing much, saying he did a good job or praising his attempt at cooking the way lqr prefers. All little praises he was taking in and feeling all warm about because he was not used to them, feeling nearly flustered when they insisted, he did really good when he tried to dismiss it (he also missed how either man actually started praising him a bit more than they did at first).
It was ridiculously really nice to live with them and somewhere deep in him he wished he would never find a new job and somewhere else to go. If he had to become a maid then so be it, he wouldn’t mind it really if he could have this all the time.
Yet a little something in him was always scared that they were like this with him because they only wanted to be nice, so he still tried finding a new job and somewhere else to go, not wanting to be a bother either.
Then one night he got up to go to the bathroom, still half asleep as he pass the couple's room, a weird sound catching his attention, looking back at the half-closed door without thinking. Until it down on him what the sound was. It was not the kind of occurrence he would ever be used to because his parent was partaking in any intimate play.
(nsfw-ish ahead).
Lqr was sitting atop wrh, the man buried what seemed like deep in him and clearly enjoying himself. Clearly, jc should /not/ be witnessing this. He jumped when wrh suddenly looked his way and he was /sure/ their eyes had locked before he quickly and silently made his way back to his room, forgetting why he had gotten up in the first place. He quickly hide in his bed, probably blushing deeply as the scene kept on replaying in his mind. He shouldn't be surprised, after all, they were a couple and this was a rather normal thing to indulge in from time to time, he even suspected that maybe he had been a cause for them seemingly not doing anything(or at least no of /his/ knowledge).
As the sight of lqr moving up and down above wrh kept playing in his mind he realised he had gotten hard, which only made him feel ashamed of his reaction. He should /really not/ be reacting this way to the sight of a couple that was nicely helping him. This was highly inappropriate and he was scared now that wrh would tell lqr and that both men would want him out now. He guiltily took care of his own erection, trying /not/ to think back to the two admittedly good-looking men that were doing their business a couple of rooms away from him. He barely managed to sleep because of his shame and anxiousness about what would wrh say after he saw this.
After a nearly whole night to agonise over the fact that maybe he was attracted to the two men in a way he /shouldn’t/ be (they were married!!), jc was already drained of any energy for the day. He had not expected to realise something like this and in such a way. Truly he could have gone by without realising his weird and inappropriate feeling.
The next morning was really awkward for jc as he didn’t have the courage to look at lqr after what he saw the night before, even less wrh who /knew/ he had seen them and who was currently looking at him very intently.
“Is everything alright Jiang Cheng?” asked lqr, probably wondering why he was so silent and small in his chair.
“I just had difficulty sleeping last night, I’m a bit tired,” he said, which wasn’t really a lie. With this lqr simply told him to not overwork himself in the day before both older men went to work, wrh never approached him about that night, yet the glance he was giving him was enough to confirm he did know. Then the following days were filled with wrh giving a little bit /too much/ attention, being a bit touchier than he had been before. All this only confused jc because /why/ would he do this? Did he believe he wanted to break them apart? Was this some kind of test to see if he would try and make a move on one of them? Why would he think like so? Had he come to his door to check on him and heard him shamefully trying to keep in moans? He was pretty sure he might have accidentally said one of their name despite trying /not/ to think about them? Was it why?
His brain had decided it was back to being an anxious mess, wondering if what he was doing could be seen as flirty, if he was overstepping himself. Wrh had seemed to be a rather touchy person and probably didn’t notice it, but now it felt like it was done /on purpose/, worst than before and little gestures that had been comforting before were now making him anxious. Even his praises were making him feel as if they were made to be a trap.
After two weeks of being anxious, when they are both alone and wrh gets a bit too touchy with him as his cooking, hovering behind him to watch what he was doing, he finally cracks under the pressure, trying to gently push him away. Wrh laughs a bit, turning him around and starts to ask amused what is wrong, only to stop mid-sentence when he sees how upset jc is, his hands immediately leaving the young man.
“I-I know I shouldn’t have seen it a-and I shouldn’t have done.... /that/ while thinking of you both, b-but I don’t want to ruin your marriage, it was an accident and it won’t happen again, I swear I won’t make a move on any of you so please stop teasing me to test me, I-I-” he started to rambles, feeling anxious tears coming to his eyes as panic settled back in, scared that he would be hated by them.
Wrh only looked extremely confused, calling out to him gently as he tried to calm him down, hands hovering above his arms as if scared that touching him would only make it worst. “What are you talking about? I wasn’t trying to test you or anything like that” he asked when jc finally stop rambling apologies. “I wanted to tease you since when I went to check on you later in the night to make sure you were alright you seemed to be... rather into it” he simply replied, “I hadn’t thought you believe I was trying to trick you”.
Oh. So he had heard him. This was so embarrassing to have it confirmed to him.
“But I don’t want to ruin everything for you... you love Lan Qiren! And he loves you! I-I can’t-”. “He already knows, I told him you saw us”.
This made jc quiet down quickly, suddenly looking really confused. What did he mean he already knew? Had he really told lqr? This was even more embarrassing to know, he which the floor would just eat him so he could hide in the ground.
But why the teasing then? Didn’t it mean wrh wanted for it to go /somewhere/? No one would tease like this after /that/ only for wanting nothing. He was really confused, because, despite the rumours he had heard about wrh (mostly from jfm), he was not the type to cheat, so why would he do something like this to lqr?
It's not that he didn’t want to believe wrh, but something in him was just terrified of lqr starting to despise him. Because what if he ended up ruining their nice marriage? He couldn’t do that to the man who had been so nice to him until now.
Wrh clearly understood the anxious young man wouldn’t listen more to his explanation and sighed a bit, offering a small pat on his shoulder. “Then let's ask lqr when he comes home” he simply offered to which jc didn’t really manage to reply, vaguely nodding as he didn’t believe he wanted to talk about /that/ with his husband.
The rest of the day went by too quickly, jc hid in his room and in his bed, trying to calm himself down from the anxiety buzzing under his skin. He was thankful that wrh left him his space (although he knew the man had checked on him discreetly a couple of times). Even after 24 years of existence he barely knew how to deal with his anxiety, only knowing that being alone could help a bit, far from the cause of his anxiety.
Later in the afternoon he finally heard lqr coming back home, then felt tenser when he heard quiet voices coming his way. Then he heard a polite knock on his door, only able to reply in a small voice, hiding in his cover (and he felt so childish from this, but it was his only way to feel comfort right now).
He didn’t dare to get out of his safe cocoon even when he felt the bed slightly tilt when someone took a seat near him, lqr softly calling out to him. Nothing came afterwards, as if simply waiting for him to come out by himself, not forcing him into what felt like doom. It took a while before he finally dares to at least sit up, the cover still tightly hugged around him, not daring to look at the man, the crease in the blanket looking really interesting right now.
“A-han told me you two had a misunderstanding this morning” stated the older man, as calm as ever, as if they were about to talk about the weather. Jc was only able to slightly nod, still scared something bad would happen. “I wanted to clarify some things, so you do not feel bad or guilty about anything.
He told me afterwards that you saw us and he went to check on you, and also told me about what he thought he had heard” he explained, “Of course my husband had my permission to do what he did, you were not doing anything behind my back... we were under the impression that you might like us in a different way we thought you did and since we both do like you a bit more than we first thought we wanted to see where it would go”.
This made jc a bit confused, finally looking up at lqr (although he still dares not look him in the eyes). They like him? As in... more than a guest or even maybe a friend? “Is it really... alright?” jc managed to ask, eyes darting between the two men. He felt a warm hand cup the side of his face, lqr offering him a reassuring smile. “Of course, it is, since I am telling you we are both wanting this”. Jc finally allows himself to lean into the touch (not without a slight moment of hesitation), lqr leaning closer to kiss his forehead. “Would you like us to love you too?” the man asks, jc slightly thinking it over before whispering a small “yes”. He would really love this, if he could have the chance to actually be loved by two kind men who are also attractive despite how much older they are (it should be illegal to still look this good, but he won’t complain).
This is how jc slowly started his new more intimate and romantic relationship with the older couple, being now fully spoiled by them. Of course, it takes some time before he fully feels comfortable with some things, as if testing the water to see if there were any lines, he didn’t have the right to cross. This time lqr and wrh are much more explicit and clearer about their intents (they learned the hard way it was better that way).
Jc finally found somewhere he is loved and cherished, feeling rather lucky to have them both. Maybe it wasn’t so bad that he hadn’t planned anything.
===============
oups i made jc panic :') was not my first intention but here we are.
side note: his family did eventually notice he was gone when he stayed at the wenqi house. You can imagine of jfm seemingly didn't care and yzy was more on about his grades than anything.
I seriously wanna write some horny jc with wenqi now they sure would be really good to him and make him feel extremely loved after seeing how little his parents care about him.

A little silly fic I wrote for JC puppy week on twitter.
Wei Wuxian knew it was a potentially delicate situation, but it really had to be addressed. And (un)lucky him, Jiang Cheng's other advisors had elected him to be the one to bring it up.
As if Jiang Cheng wasn't mad at him for at least four other things at any given time.
Still, he could attempt the impossible.
He drew in a breath, and knocked on Jiang Cheng's door. There was complete silence from the other side, before a loud scrabbling, a cut off curse, and then the sound of Jiang Cheng soothing something, in a tone of voice people...well, people who weren't the Sandu Shengshou, that was...usually reserved for talking to babies and small animals.
Wei Wuxian found it both immensely endearing, and actually pretty terrifying.
Because...
His thoughts were halted as Jiang Cheng's enquiry sounded, now louder and clearer, as he altered his voice into his everyperson voice.
"Yes?"
"Jiang Cheng, its me. We need to talk."
"Wei Wuxian, this isn't a good time, can it wait?"
More sounds of scratching on the wooden floor, and a long, low growl.
No it couldn't wait, because he was pretty sure that he'd be sent straight back here, and maybe by then it would be too late. He slid open the door, and stepped inside.
Jiang Cheng was trying to calm a huge, shaggy grey...thing...that literally looked like it was about to bite his head off, and wouldn't have a single problem with it, while he told it off like an annoyed dog owner whose pup that just peed on the carpet.
It was VAGUELY dog shaped. In the way that a tiger could be considered VAGUELY kitten shaped.
Wei Wuxian grabbed Jiang Cheng's arm, and yanked him away as the snapping jaws closed on the air he'd just been standing in.
Wei Wuxian drew Suibian and pointed it in the direction of the...thing.
"Wei Wuxian! Put your sword away, don't frighten the puppy with it."
"Jiang Cheng, I'm absolutely sure that's not a dog."
His Sect Leader had brought home the animal, if that was indeed what it was, wounded, and angry, two nights ago.
Knowing Wei Wuxain was frightened of dogs, he'd sequestered it in his rooms directly, and had ordered Lei Shirong to take a look at it. The thing had nearly bitten the physician's hand right off, and he now refused to go anywhere near it, and along with the other members of Jiang Cheng's advisory circle, had basically told Wei Wuxian to make sure their Sect Leader got rid of it, before someone was injured.
"Then what can it possible be? He's wounded, and he needs caring for." Jiang Cheng looked assessingly at him as something occured to him. "Why aren't you frightened of it? You should be a trembling wreck by now. I tried to keep it here so it didn't frighten you!"
"Because it's not a dog, Jiang Cheng, I already told you that. The closest its likely ever been to one is to eat one up in a single gulp. And you're probably next!"
"Little Silver is just a wounded pup, Wei Wuxian. Now go and fetch me the poultices that slacker healer was meant to have sent for me, and stop with your nonsense!"
Wei Wuxian foundhimself on the other side of Jiang Cheng's door shortly after, with his head in his hands in despair as the firm, scolding voice of his Sect Leader sounded from inside the room once again, as he told off the supposed puppy Little Silver for 'teething' on his rug (see; ripping it to tiny pieces with its massive jaws). He just hoped the 'puppy' healed quickly and could be released again, before someone, probably Jiang Cheng, ended up a snack for the oversized...thing.

Thirteen-year-old Jiang Cheng moves with his family to a new town two weeks before summer break starts. Always outshown by his adoptive brother, extremely socially awkward, worried for his ill sister, and mistreated by his parents, Jiang Cheng is slowly drowning in a sea of hopelessness and pain. Feeling more depressed at every turn, he sees little hope for a good summer break, much less a happy future.
But a chance encounter with two older boys just might make a difference. Will Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen reach out to Jiang Cheng and pull him from the awful, murky mire he's found himself trapped in?

I keep forgetting to add my art to this tumblr even though art posting is what I created this account for lmao. Anyway, this was my contribution to #jcpuppyweek on twitter in which ppl post about Jiang Cheng with puppies and it’s all cute and wholesome. Here he is with Liu Chewngge (shiny Rockruff) because I love Pokemon and still play Pokemon Go (so my brother can use my account to raid legendaries) and pokemon is my go-to theme with MXTX art I guess.
