i saw this scene being uploaded in english the other day and i can't not rewatch the japanese version because, you know, seiyuu brainrot and whatnot. translations (completely my own) under the cut.

rio was slouched over with a huge frown on his face. if he was an actual dog, his tail would’ve been tucked between his legs and he would’ve looked ten times more depressed.

“there. that’s one eye done,” cal sighed as he stood back to admire his work. the pigment on rio’s eyelid was black like charcoal that made him look like a raccoon. “you’re so slow ellis.”

“shh. i’m working my magic,” ellis said. the thin bristles of his brush was damp with pigment as he went in for the final touch to the look. eyeliner. with a steady and practiced hand, he gracefully glided the brush just above rio’s lash line. the black eyeliner was a harsh contrast to the pink-rose colored eyeshadow that was blended harmoniously on the eyelid.

“woah. that was so cool! i wanna try now,” cal said.

but ellis promptly stopped him. “you’ll stab his eye out.”

“can i put the lipstick on?” ana asked.

“no. i’ll do it,” ellis said.

“hey, you’re being really bossy…” ana frowned.

“yeah, you already did one eye too!” cal agreed.

“w-well that’s just because i know how to do it! my father taught me all his tips and tricks!” ellis defended himself like a threatened cat.

“unlcle yves taught me how to do stuff too…” ana said.

ellis sighed, “fine. but i want to choose the color.” he picked a nice rosy color to match the work he did on his side of rio’s face. anastasia carefully traced the outline of rio’s lips and filled the rest of it in. “hmm, not bad.”

anastasia smiled at his compliment. “see?”

“dearie me, is this how we treat our foreign guests now?”

“WAH! UNCLE CLAVIS!?” ellis shrieked.
