Your post on continuity errors reminds me that the one that bothers me most in Animorphs is that in book 8, Ax reads the entire World Book encyclopedia and apparently remembers all of it, but in later books he's never heard of World War Two (MM3) or the nation of China (#46). Maybe it's trivial, but it makes part of Ax's arc toward the end of the series when he wrestles with human atrocities seem kind of forced.
So. Your Mileage May Vary on this one, but. My read of MM3 is that Ax has specifically never heard of the Holocaust. Like, you're right that he has no context for U.S.-U.K. troops storming Normandy beaches, and doesn't instantly understand when/where he is the way Marco does. But I think it's possible he's read a few encyclopedia articles on the subject without knowing about that particular battle. Rachel mentions the Holocaust, Ax asks her what that is, and she briefly explains. If that got left out of a world history book or an almanac, then that's potentially a pointed omission.
It might fall in the same category as Tobias joking about his complete lack of knowledge of the War of 1812 (which he mentions in #8 and IIRC #23). I assume that that's a deliberate callout on Applegate's part — we really don't cover the War of 1812 in most U.S. schools, because it's such a bad mark on the U.S.'s history. The U.S. and U.K. get in a trade dispute, the U.S. invades Canada in revenge, the U.S. murders 1000s of Native Americans on the chance they might be allied with the British, the U.S. murders 1000s of enslaved Black Americans on the chance they might be allied with the British, the Brits burn the White House, everyone decides to call it a draw. The whole thing is shameful, to say the least.
If Ax's almanacs don't cover the Holocaust, then I think you can read MM3 as drawing pointed attention to that omission because the whole point of MM3 is that we sanitize history to force the issue of "glory in battle" and "we happy few, we band of brothers" after the fact. That said, it's also 100% possible that Ax's knowledge of human history is just inconsistently written. Because that's been known to happen as well.
As for him not having heard of China... Uhhh, okay, what if he's mostly just encountered the acronym PRC before, and doesn't remember what it stands for? I've seen world atlases refer to China just as PRC before.

Hello everyone!
I'm back with another video, this time being another recommendation from my discord members! It's a story that starts out rough, but has a very nice sweet ending, while having all the raunchiness in the bedroom.

Hope you enjoy!

DJ Hairy Larry Presents Giant Steps Playing Tangerine
From The Archives Of Something Blue 2024-03-03
Thanks Marty. Today we're going to hear a tenor sax rendition of a jazz standard recorded at KASU Jazz Thursday.
Giant Steps was a jazz combo featuring some of Jonesboro's finest jazz musicians. The core group had Craig Baker, trumpet; Joy Sanford, piano; Tom Mason, bass; and Mike Overall, drums. Formerly known as Nightlife they played standards and they were a good dance band.
When they played for us at Jazz Thursday they brought Mike McGowan, a former resident of Jonesboro now living in Texas. As you will hear he's fantastic on tenor sax.

Re: the continuity gap/error post, do you remember/did you read the fan question section on the official Animorphs website at the time? Applegate was asked about the thought speak error in book 1 and also there was a mix up, I think, in another book about who had osprey morphs. She called these KASUs. K.A. Screws Up. :D I still think about that acronym from time to time and get bummed that I know absolutely no one who would understand the reference.
Yes, yes, YES. I think about the self-coined KASU a lot. I think about Applegrant repeatedly apologizing for there not being better queer and disabled representation in their series, despite having already snuck in more queer and disabled representation than almost any other children's book series of the time. I think about how astoundingly difficult it is to respond with grace when some upstart stranger criticizes something you lavished years' worth of love and labor into.
Rick Riordan. Kristin Cashore. K.A. Applegate. They're all a lot more classy, a lot more humble and gracious, than I've ever been. It's so so hard to say "I messed up, you spotted it, and I'm now responding to acknowledge that." But they've all done it, and I have tremendous respect for all of them.
Like, I teach. And in one of the classes that taught me how to teach, we actually sat there and chanted over and over "I don't know, I'll have to look it up and get back to you, I don't know, I'll have to look it up and get back to you" and "thank you for spotting that, I'll correct it, thank you for spotting that, I'll correct it." Because that's the right answer when a student catches you off-guard with a question or points out an error, and that's the hard answer, when "that's irrelevant" or "I did that on purpose" or "you've misunderstood" or making up some BS response are all infinitely easier. And when you're on the spot, in the middle of public speaking, desperately afraid that you don't know enough to teach this class and soon everyone will know it... nothing is scarier than admitting out loud that you're a limited little human who sometimes makes mistakes and doesn't yet know everything.

It's really odd the way Maka's mother is constantly referenced, but never appears nor is even named.
Maka's relationship with her father is being constantly held back by Maka's frustration with him for cheating on her mother, which would imply Maka and her mother are quite close.
But she just...never shows up. And honestly, that makes me feel like Spirit is actually the better parent, since for what an awful lover he would seem to be, he certainly is making an active effort to be part of Maka's life.
