arthur repealing the ban on magic and sitting merlin and morgana down to figure out who is going to be court sorcerer and ready to mediate a debate but before morgana can even open her mouth, merlin passes to position onto her. arthur and morgana just stare, morgana makes feeble attempts to spark an argument, to instigate merlin to at least fight for it. even arthur is like “…you don’t even want, like, a room or something for your magic work?? none of the perks?? a different position in the court?????” and merlin’s just like “nope! i’m good!” and morgana and arthur exchange a look before arthur asks why. merlin’s answer is that his position, where he belongs, is at arthur’s side. besides. morgana deserves it. she was snubbed from becoming queen so it was only fair.

Arthur Pendragon
King Arthur: The Legend of The Sword
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Kingdom of Camelot has been thriving since Arthur had been crowned king all those years ago. The Kingdom was blessed with a queen for 10 years before she was taken from them. Arthur was devastated along with the people. Before the queen met her end she blessed Arthur with a son and daughter. They do not know who could have done it but they suspect some of Vortigern's devoted followers, few as they are, might have done it.
Prince Duran was now 15 years old. The Princess was 5 years old. Duran was either found in three different places. The first was with his father, King Arthur, the second place was the training grounds with either Sir George, Sir Tristan, Sir Bedivere, Sir William or Sir Percival. The last place is with his younger sister, Princess y/n. there is the odd time you will find him playing with some friends but they are normally at the training grounds. The princess can be found in a few different places but always with the same people. Arthur, Duran, one of the kings at Arthur's round table, one of the ladies who brought him up or Eva the one responsible for looking after y/n.
It was a nice sunny day in Camelot when the people working in the palace notice something wrong with the individual covering Eva on watching the princess. Arthur and the members of the round table have been getting reports from the staff. someone had even informed Eva, who was resting in bed due to a cold that had made her faint. She got out of bed with help to go and check up on the princess, she knew where the princess would be at any time of the day. She happened to bump into Prince Duran who was going to his sister as well. They both froze when they reached where she was supposed to be. Laying on the floor in their blood was the Princess's sworn protector.
Duran ran to inform Arthur and the round table while Eva ran over to Danial. He was barely alive. Arthur was signing some paperwork at the round table and talking to George, Bedivere, William, Percival and Wet Stick when Duran barged into the room to tell him what had happened. The fear Arthur had buried had come true.
6 years after the assassination of the queen, the princess would be the target.
Danial came stumbling into the room with help from Eva. He explained how he was attacked from behind and facked being dead as he knew he would not have been able to protect princess y/n from harm if he resisted. He informed them that the attacker was wearing a blacklegs mask. Arthur turned to Wet Stick and Bedivere. He told them to stay with Duran while he goes with Percival, goosefat Bill and George. They set off once they all got their supplies.
They tracked them to the old resistance hideout. Goosefat made Arthur wait outside, even if he had an heir, the heir is not ready for the throne. Arthur agree but waited outside with much impatience. Goosefat, Percival and George went in and were met with the remaining blacklegs. Percival went and looked for y/n while George and Goosefat defeated the blacklegs. Percival soon came back with y/n who had tucked her face into his neck and held on tight to him. they left the hideout and Arthur turned when he heard a crunch of leaves. he called her name which made her raise her head to see him coming towards her. Y/n started to cry when she saw him and reached for him. Arthur took her out of Percival's arms into his own and held onto her tightly.
Duran was the first person y/n let go of Arthur for. Eva was the second as she was the one to get y/n out of the dirty and ruined clothes. She saw that she was covered in bruises and little cuts. Eva soon went to the round table as that is where Arthur had gone while waiting.
Everyone noticed the injuries now y/n was clean. Danial had come into the room and was nearly thrown off balance when y/n hugged him. He was thanked by them all because if he did not fake being dead, they would have never known if was the blacklegs.
Danial was kept as y/n's sworne protector and would resume the position once he was healed. Eva was told that if she is ever ill just let Arthur or one of the knights know and they will find someone to watch y/n. Eva was just relieved that y/n had no major injuries.
Y/n was happy that she was back with her family and protectors.
The end.

Uther Pendragon, the conqueror, died leaving only a daughter to succeed him. And thus the young Queen Guenevere ascended to the throne. Uther Pendragon was a warlike king, and his daughter took after him in spirit, though she was not trained to lead the charge as a son would have been.
In those days, even a warlike queen—and perhaps especially a warlike one—was regarded with mistrust, and no sooner had the King’s body been laid to rest, then there was a cry for the new Queen to find a husband. But with the fearsome pride of her father, Queen Guenevere refused to surrender herself to any noble lord or prince—and perhaps wisely so, for favoring one house would mean making an enemy of all the rest.
At last, Merlyn, the renowned sorcerer, proposed a solution: an enchanted sword embedded in a stone, and who-so-ever proved himself worthy by successfully pulling it free would have the Queen to wed. The Queen called a great tournament, which drew every knight in the land to fight and to test the sword in the stone. Among them was the newly knighted Sir Kay, and with the young Sir Kay came his squire, Arthur.

ROTBTD WESTEROS AU
Maleficent Targaryen jealously guards her thrown by murdering any possibly heir that might supplant her...though five have escaped her grasp. Her sons Stefan and Frederick are hiding their children from her.
Frederick Targaryen and Arianna Dayne’s eldest child Elsa has taken on the name Stark and the identity of the eldest daughter and heir to Winterfell.  Rapunzel, Elsa’s twin sister, was taken as a child to Essos, though the Septa who took her was less than trustworthy. Their youngest child Arthur is serving as a squire to a knight of house Dayne.
Meanwhile, Stefan’s only child Aurora is betrothed to marry Philip Tyrell of Highgarden, though her whereabouts are a mystery.
There is one other lost Targaryen, a Greyjoy of dubious heritage, Hiccup.
Any one of these young people could bring about the end of Maleficent’s reign of terror over the seven kingdoms but first, they’ll need dragons....

New nnt au I'm working on I'm wish to focus on
Tumblr media
🐉Name:Arthur O. Pendragon
🌳Age after time skip 21-22
Sorry I'm just going to be rambling here about the idea of what's going to be this au I've been thinking of for months and I just really want to act on it now since I'm not going to be as involved in doing stuff related to RWBY for some time
📜Set in Nanatsu no zaitai after season 1/ first arc after saving lions/ Leones (or however you say the kingdom's name)
The seven deadly sins are gone for several years and during that time Arthur Florence the knights of the round table and becomes very well known throughout the kingdom even more
And he all so meets a traveling knight blue lance (stand in for Lancelot from the story's)
💜
He and Arthur don't start off as friends but after several years of fighting together and then fighting with each other on and off they become good friends and one time after Arthur does manage to beat Lance he asked him to become his right hand Knight after he gets blinded
This is set after like the first season / first Big Arc is over after Leona's was saved I have it where the sins go on a mission for the King after saving the kingdom and they get trapped away in time and end up meeting the ten commandments and they end up trapped away in time for about 7 years you know matching the number of the seven deadly
sins and they come back to big changes throughout Britannia after the demons still do end up coming there and attacking everyone during this time skip Arthur still loses his arm to estarosa but during his fight when he loses his arm and his eyesight he uses Excalibur on him and that's how they find out that he's the Lost archangel I'm actually going to give him more to do in my Au
💖
I also have it where Arthur unlocked chaos and instead of him having all of it before Merlin disappear she locks half of it or more away
Because let's be real in the sequel series The only reason Arthur is evil is because Merlin literally gave him all the power of God and it's probably corrupted his mind she probably should have gave him like 20 or 30% of that power we've seen her divide people's Powers before she did it to meliodis I don't know why she couldn't do it to Arthur and have it where he only had like a small percentage or half his power so that's what I'm doing here
He can still change the environment around himself he didn't know how to heal himself till later so that's why he's blind and still missing my arm I won't be adding
Cath to this
🎂
Big things I'll be changing is this au Merlin is not really a kid in this version she's just the adult woman we see
Meliodas retires from fighting to give other nights the chance to shine and have a fight and since the ten commandments got fully sealed away or whatever and other stuff got fixed with the fairy Kings and Giants and whatever we won't be seeing a lot of that if I really do pull through with this au and make more of it
Elizabeth is 19 in this version as well when the series first starts cuz I do want to like add some stuff from the beginning Arc into this but I'm going to have it where she's 19
💛
I'm also going to introduce chaos earlier along with several other deities I'm just going to add in here I'm also going to have it where Merlin was a deity but she got killed and reincarnated into the little girl we all know she was in the story but then she grew up got her memories back of who she was and at some point doing the first holy war she sacrificed half of her magic so that way people could be born with magic throughout the land and be able to defend themselves
💚
I'm probably not going to introduce escanor till later on because I am not sure what to do with his character as of right now he plays such a big role in later arcs but since he wasn't in the first season really to this season maybe I'll just have it where he shows up at the end after everyone's saved and he just meets back up with everyone and that's how the sands get reformed and then they get sent on a mission they find out the ten commandments are about to come back and then they get trapped away and like some different portal thing that drops them away for 7 years
Sorry for yapping for so long

Connected to my last ask but I wanted to separate bc it's a whole new issue
But, like you mentioned Arthur being a captain by 15, and the Druid raid we all know went so wrong, that he still blames himself for (yet the writers didn't follow through, AGAIN) and that had me wonder if he actually was to blame.
Like, he said he lost control of his men, but....I don't think that would happen. These would have been trained knights, probably all older than him, more experienced....and more loyal to Uther. They would know better than to disobey their Prince, bc that risks being punished by the King.
Unless they knew they wouldn't be in trouble.
I think that raid was a test, Uther seeing just how obedient his son was, if he was too "soft" on what he decided was the enemy. And if he was, he told the knights they were to finish the job themselves against Arthur's command, bc the only order that trumps Arthur's, is Uther's.
MHM MHM MHM BECAUSE YEAH
-----
arthur was still a teenageer, he was at the age where most are still considered squires (at least...i think so?) but obviously he went up the ranks faster because he's the prince. he was still finding his footing with his role as prince and heir to the throne. he was probably still holding on to this naivete about kingship that uther wanted to squash out of him.
arthur probably hasn't seen much of the purge other than trials and executions of alleged guilty sorcerers (which he probably believed to be fair trials). he has not yet seen the true disregard of empathy his father and the kingdom has towards magic users.
i am a firm believer that that raid arthur led was a test. and a test he almost passed because he told his men to "spare the women and children" but it is highly likely that uther had a contingency plan if arthur's raid didn't eradicate all of the druids from that settlement.
now, look at the episode's transcript (s4 ep10), arthur is immediately disturbed when he realizes where they are and when merlin explains the shrine to the knights as something built "to appease restless spirits" in an area.
[Arthur seems slightly disturbed as he looks at a red flag picking up in the breeze.]
and even later he seems so out of it
[Arthur stares into space has he absentmindedly unbuckles his bracers.]
it's like he, himself, is haunted by the memory. a memory he probably made himself forget because of how horrible it was. he's had this old memory locked away so tight but now that its back, now that arthur remembers, he can't help but go through the what ifs, and berate himself for not being experienced enough to stop his men.
gaius calls uther's raids "relentless", not even considering arthur himself in that description. this could be either because gaius is too used to uther's persecution that he assumes any magical persecution is uther or gaius knew (or had some semblance to know) that uther was the true one at fault for arthur's raid.
but back to arthur
KING ARTHUR (begins to cry) I am responsible for what happened to you. And for all the violence that happened here. When I led the attack on your camp, I was young and inexperienced. I was desperate to prove myself to my men, to my...father. KING ARTHUR (still crying) I told the men to spare the women and children, but I know that some of them ignored the order. And there was so much happening. I wanted to stop it...I froze. I didn't know what to do. KING ARTHUR (completely breaking down) I can still hear the screams. I cannot right this wrong. Nothing I can ever do will change the horrors that happened that day. But I can promise that, now that I am king, I will do everything that I can to prevent anything like this ever happening again. From this day forth, the Druid people will be treated with the respect they deserve. I give you my word.
uther how fucking dare you traumatize my boy like this
arthur can still hear the fucking screams....like shit.....that sound is burned into his memory, the blood, the smell of rot and possibly fire, everything about that day how he thought himself ready but froze when things began to go wrong.
did he think himself a coward when the day came to night after the raid? did he struggle to even put on the pendragon cape? did older knights creep behind him and try to remind him that this was his father's mission? did they speak to him with false sympathy as they told him that this was all for the good and safety of camelot?
so yeah that raid was something uther placed into the hands of an inexperienced child (reminder that he only turned 20/21 in s1 so he definitely led the raid in his teens) as a way to see if arthur would do what it took to prove himself worthy for his father.

I know Mists of Avalon is complicated for a variety of reasons but it earns major points for its beginning characterization of Arthur. Like he has sex with a woman he doesn't know two times and immediately after is telling her how no matter how many women he fucks, he'll always love and cherish her while crying. This is exactly the kind of King Arthur I am here for.

"Let me read your tea leaves for you," Morgana said as if it was a normal thing to say while sitting in a cafe with your younger brother, drinking tea.
"I am starting to get seriously concerned for your sanity," He replied. "This lack of sleep seems to be driving you insane. Have you actually spoken to your doctor about it?"

Daydreaming my own Arthurian retelling, and my desire to give Arthur the "raised in relative obscurity and ignorance of his birthright" backstory is clashing headlong into my desire to have Arthur and Morgan know each other as children in order to give their relationship as adults more depth and complexity.
