There are a lot of love stories out there, some known to us, a lot are yet to be discovered.

I, myself, am not a big fan of romance and the complete cliche of love at first sight and every little quirky thing in between.

But there WILL ALWAYS BE THAT ONE EXCEPTION THAT THE UNIVERSE WILL SEND IN ALL IT'S UNDENIABLY TWISTED HUMOR.

I came across the tidbits of this masterpiece through Tiktok and I don't really know why this is found in my algorithm. But again, maybe it was some external supernatural prankster out there that wanted me to get over the initial cringe of reading anything that spells the word ROMANCE in bold and capital letters.

It's gripping my phone at around 3 AM and telling myself that I just have one chapter because my poor little unaccustomed to romance heart couldn't take the suspense and tension each chapter opens up to. I had endured an all nighter reading and finishing everything and screaming into my defenseless and unsuspecting pillow the overwhelming feeling of watching the pining miscommunicating complicated borderline idiotic main characters.

You all have to read and witness how smart and clever and perfect, emotional denial and workaholic tendencies aside, Shin Soohyuk is. You all have to bear the idiocy and adorable clumsiness, undying loyalty, ever-selfless love and wit Wolfgang Goldenleonard has to offer. AND DON"T GET ME STARTED WITH THE BEST WINGMAN/SHIP FANCLUB PRESIDENT AND COLLECTOR OF EVERYTHING I MAM NOT SUPPOSED TO MENTION TO KEEP THIS POST FAMILY FRIENDLY, OUR DUKE SYS!!!!!! HANDS DOWN BEST CHARACTER EVER.

I am a few years late to the romance but the experience of reading the entire masterpiece is something I will cherish forever.

Okay, we know Amelia's deepest secret is the fact that she's divergent and hiding it as she works as Jeanine's assistant. Other deep dark secrets? She'll never admit to anyone else that she's attracted to Eric and wants him. She would have given him everything if she could have. (this is hidden because she refuses to let him in more than he's already weaved his way in. she refuses to give him that power.) She used to want to work in the Archives with her mother. The secret is that she wishes she could have instead of falling into Jeanine's sights. (admitting this would get her socially shunned in her faction lol) She also once made Brighton eat sand by convincing him it was a new test product. She laughed hysterically at his expression when he realized the truth. Neither of them have told anyone that. (they both kept this a secret because Amelia didn't want anyone to know she was capable of it, Brighton because he didn't want anyone to know he fell for it)

Sometimes, I forget that Tumblr love bland characters just because they are healthier for the hero, thus criticizing the (canon) ship which moves the story forward. Because of course I did the mistake to check for some content. Haha.

Yes sure, who should I choose between the guy who is as ambitious as the main character and drives him to take what he wants - until it goes downhill and he notices tragically that he is working against himself ; and the one who is the servent who follows his master's wishes without that much of tension between them because he is oh so loyal, so nice and brave.

I'm reading a tragedy, guy. Not a coffee shop AU.

I mean, it's not for nothing it goes downhill after the execution: it is stated he killed his other half, no matter treason, etc. And even his servant knows he can't replace the duke. No matter how loyal and nice, he is. He was not strong enough to be his light and not strong enough to be his darkness. It does not leave him a lot of options.

Really why should I favor him for my drama? No, unrequited love is not enough.

Fortunately, the author seems to agree with me... Well not at the end, but you know what I mean?

(That's my only comfort, okay?)

Helaena rolled her eyes and took her seat once more. Jace’s lavender eyes were narrowed, brow furrowed as he looked from Helaena to Warren as the knight swung his sword with a great yell and the bout started.
