So Reigen put his hand on the poster after running from the people, right? I think that's a strong hint for when he was hypnotized! But do you think he's just playing along? Could he be pushing Mob to do this by himself? What do you think?? Why does this episode hurt so much???
I... I actually didn't realize that might be when he got hypnotized!! I kept my eyes peeled for a hint during my second watchthrough, but I ended up figuring that he might just have "basked" in the hypnotism wave across the city long enough that it affected him, even without a proper "trigger". I just thought the framing of the moment where he hits the poster was really epic, BONES are just insanely good at what they do :')
I definitely think Reigen's under control for real though. The way he fell under was so subtle, and the way he expresses himself even while hypnotized is still so very Reigen-like... but I think poor Mob is gonna be on his own for a bit there. (Assuming Teru eventually got overwhelmed too ;w;)
This episode hurts so much because ONE is an amazing writer and BONES is as much of an incredible studio ♥ can't wait to get hurt even more with ep5 :D

You’re feeling a bit better than yesterday but a part of you is still upset. You woke up this morning feeling good but it washes away when you recall last nights events. Sitting up, you grabbed your phone from the nightstand, and Scaramouche never texted you once. Your breath shakes and you get up to start the day.
Currently, you are eating lunch with Thoma since it’s break. You’ve been spacing out but working on your art project distracted you. You ate and stared at the table. Thoma is concerned for you and he decides to ask, “What’s wrong?” You look up at him and the guilt surfaces. “Uh, well…” You put your fork down and hold your hands. “Scaramouche and I got into a fight.” Thoma gains a shocked expression. “Oh no. I’m sorry, yn.” You smile forcibly. “It’s okay.”
Then, you frown again. “Thoma, I have to tell you something.” He tilts his head a little. “What is it?” You look around before leaning towards him and whispered, “I know.” He blinks. “Know what?” You look around again. “Not here.” You say and get up, gathering your things and throwing your trash away. Thoma follows you and throws away his stuff too. You lead him to the lounge and sit on the couch. He sits next to you still confused.
“Thoma, I know about you and Diluc.” Suddenly, his face went white. He shook and picked on his skin as he chuckled awkwardly. “H-How did-How did you find out?” You took out your phone and show him the message you received. He grew more and more anxious as he read the article, word for word. Thoma looks away and you take it as a sign that he doesn’t want to read it anymore.
Putting your phone away, you place a hand on top of his, mostly to stop him from hurting his skin. “I wont tell Diluc, I promise.” Thoma nods. “You don’t have to explain yourself to me. I’m letting you know because I don’t want to keep it a secret from you.” You caressed his hand. “You’re a good guy so I’ll do whatever you want me to do with this information.” Thoma sighs and thinks for a moment. He looks at you and asks, “Are you the only one who knows?” You shook your head. “Scaramouche knows but I doubt he’ll say anything.” ‘Hopefully.’
Thoma nods again. “It’s pretty sad. Our history.” You frown and give him a tight hug. “I’m sorry.” He hugs back and buries his face in your shoulder. “It’s okay.” He says, softly. You both pull away from each other. “Enough of that,” You say. “I want to show you how my projects going.” Thoma smiles. “I’m pretty excited.” He tells you. You get out your phone once more and show him a photo of your artwork. He gasps, “Woah, that’s so good!” You blushed. “Is it? You don’t think it’s too much?” He shakes his head. “Of course not. You’re very talented.”
You smile and look at the piece as well. “I’m sure Scaramouche agrees.” Those words made you gasp and turn to him. Thoma only smiled at you and you couldn’t help but look at your drawing again. The bell rings and Thoma stands up to leave. “Are you coming?” He asks since you didn’t move. “You go without me.” You say and he nods, leaving you on your own. You bit your bottom lip. Slowly, you opened Scaramouche’s contact and stared at the keyboard.
Your finger went to press a key but you stopped when you received a message.

KNY S2 spoilers!
Can you write a fluffy but maybe yandere! Gyutaro x f!reader? I'm so obsessed right now!!
A/N: Sorry for the wait lol I literally finished the series a few days ago. It was VERY good. I hope I did Gyutaro justice.
Warnings: Light Yandere behavior. It is only for entertainment purposes, I do not condone this behavior and if you are in a relationship like this, please reach out for help. I have resources if you can't find help with your close ones.
The groan was heard louder. It seemed to belong to a man's. For some reason he seemed to be suffering from something.
Thrown away.
Disposed like trash by someone who was supposed to take care of you till they died.
No, you shouldn't think like that. He only did that because there was no other way out. Mother's medical bills were too high in interest that no one in your family could live in peace. Your other four siblings still had lots of life ahead of them while you had turned 18, an old maiden. Your only saving grace being how young you looked compared to your age.
The lady of the house bought the lie that you were 15 when your father told her. She happily parted with enough money for even a new hospital to be made, just because you could play the shamisen and koto already.
You didn't feel like you were worth so much at the moment though.
You had been thrown into the attic with no food a few minutes ago because they had no vacant rooms just yet and it was too late for you to eat.
At the present you were crying silently, a terrible habit you picked up at home. Terrible because everyone thought you never cried, therefore thinking you were stronger than what you really were. What was another burden more if you hadn't cried yet?
It was suffocating.
Almost like the moist air in the attic. The air was so heavy that even the mice didn't want to move around.
It was so silent.
That was until you heard rustling from the farthest corner from you.
-"Hello?" Your hoarse voice called out after a few moments of hearing the movements. It sounded like the one making the noise was either on the other side of the attic, or really stealthy.
-"W-were you sold today too?" You tried bonding with them.
Nothing, but the rustling became more careful, and even some muttering was carried over to your ears, though you couldn't make it out precisely.
-"HungryYy." A voice wavered around.
How frail, you thought. How parched must they be for their voice to crack so much?
-"They left you without food too? I have something to share if you'd like."
A low groan was barely heard.
-"Don't be shy! I hope- I hope I'm not scaring you! Please, share these star candies with me. " You kindly called out. You just didn't want to be alone all night in an unfamiliar place.
-"Share these with me then?" You tried again.
-"I'm not sure where you are, but I'll leave some next to the shoji screen."
You finally pinpointed where the voice resided.
-"no, NO." It began. -"Stay away."
-"I'm sorry if I'm scaring you, but I don't mean any harm. I'm just a young girl, I can't really do much to you." Why were you being so kind to this stranger? Perhaps because you wanted them to return the sentiment.
-"I'm not scared. " He vocally pouted with a scoff at the end. -"As if I could be scared of someone so weak."
Big, bony fingers clawed at your hand and took the candy. His hands were cold, that concerned you. You wanted to hold it to make it warmer.
-"No. I don't feel like hearing screams today from a weakling like you. Leave me alone."
Despite the very serious threatening tone to his words, you couldn't help but feel some tyoe of care for this stranger. What did he mean by screams? His voice could barely even stabilize itself, there's no way you were weaker than him.
-"I'm not sure what you mean by that, but if you're not in the mood for food.. .. .. would chatting be ok?"
The shoji screen shook rapidly for a moment, leaving you to guess that the person behind the screen had either sat up or shifted his body to face you while still sitting.
-"Chatting?"
-"If you would please. There's still many hours to the night." You softly pleaded.
-"Hmmmmm." The stranger began in a softer tone. -"My voice doesn't bother you? It isn't comical to you??"
-"No," you shifted your legs to a different sitting position. -"Laughing or judging things that can't change are a waste of time and cruel."
-"Yes." The man breathed out as if he had been underwater for hours. -"Yes! You're right."
-"What's your name?"
-"Gyutaro, yours?"
His name includes the word pimp??, you thought to yourself.
-"Y/N. ... Were you born here?"
-"Did my name give it away?" He sneered. -"If you think my name is a sign of how cursed I was since birth, wait till you meet more of me."
-"No one is innately born a curse, please don't speak of yourself that way." You oddly snapped at him, emotions welling up inside. -"Sorry, I didn't mean to speak brashly. It just breaks my heart when others speak about themselves that way."
The shoji screen shifted once again and a silhouette of a head with a wavy half bun hairstyle peaked quickly. You couldn't see him well, since the moon was against your face, but he did.
-"You're pretty, you can't say that. I hate that you said that now when you don't even know what it means to be born cursed."
-"Beauty can be a curse too. I've always been treated like an object, spoken to like I was cattle. Like I don't have value other than my face. No one really cares for who you are and think it's okay to treat or touch you anyway they desire."
-"Tch." Was all Gyutaro said for a minute. -"You're right though. The world is harsh to the ugly and the pretty. My sister, the prettiest woman out there .. … .. she's experienced what you just said, and I couldn't protect her when it happened."
As he spoke, you stealthily made your way over and once he had finished, your right hand plopped around the screen with a few candies in your hand.
-"I'm sorry to hear that." You softly began but quickly continued when he heard your voice so close. -"If it makes you feel better, I have my eyes closed. U-until you tell me to open them. Ple-please, help yourself."
But after hearing your groggy voice apologize so many times, he caved.
Or perhaps you just wanted to feel someone else's hand in yours. You wanted to feel less lonely.
-"Gyu-Gyuotaru? Would you feel okay holding my hand?" Your voice began to quiver.
-"Don't give me orders, weak human. Who said I want your trembling hand near me."

You sniffled in response, trying to hold tears in.
All you wanted was some semblance of comfort. But perhaps you were asking for too much from a stranger.
-"S-sorry." You whispered.
-"If you're going to cry about that- ugh!" Suddenly a lightly spotted arm appeared and grasped your right hand firmly, almost a little too hard.
-"Th-thank you." You softly wept in gratitude.
Scoffing, he asked what your story was.
You spilled all of it. And by the end of it, he was holding both of your hands.
After you finished, you both sat in silence, grasping tightly each other's hands as he began with his story.
At the end of his, right when you could feel like in an hour the sun would come up, your body felt heavy. Your head would bounce and lightly hit the screen, to which Gyutaro would scold you to be careful.
You were then whisked away, never to be heard of in the entertainment district. Your father never looked for you, nor did your new house matron. But Gyutaro did so without fail every time you tried to return to be with humans. He'd get angry, but understood you missed them, so he was patient with you.
-"Keep your eyes closed."
-"Why?"
-"Just do it!!" He hissed.
-"Hmm kay."
Suddenly, you were embraced and held in what felt like hefty, muscular arms of a tall man. You lay in them, coddled like a baby.
-"Do you want to leave this place and live a different life than the one handed to you?" A snake-like voice whispered into your ear.
-"Yes." You softly responded while nuzzling into the stranger's arms. How long had it been since anyone had held you close like this?
-"Then I'll take you away from here and take care of you until you die." His silvery breath danced around your neck with every word.
Your eyes shot open the moment he finished speaking.
Green. Green hair and tinted skin. Yellow, beady eyes lovingly staring into your soul, as if they were hungry. A crooked smile that could make any child cry from terror.
-"Don't worry, if you don't want to die, you don't have to." He offered, thinking you had gotten scared from that, not the part where you'd be with a stranger for the rest of your life.
-"Now, let's go." He proudly said before hearing your response.
-"Gyutaro!" You began to protest, scared. You went from one ownership to the next. You didn't want to be trapped with a man that you had just met!
-"I know, I'm ugly." He wailed. -"But I can tell you loved me before knowing my appearance," Gyutaro's voiced hungrily. -"Your- your hands told me so.. ...I know you can love me after seeing me... ...You do have the rest of your life to get used to it." He laughed heartily.
He was patient and loving till the day he never came back. Leaving you as lonely as the first night you met him.

Uzui Tengen and how to follow a tough act
I'll admit that when I decided many months ago to start this blog, that the first big pieces I wanted to write would be on the Hashira; and yet, I had difficulty pinpointing what I wanted to say about Uzui Tengen. He's something of an oddity among the Hashira, especially for one who graces my list of 'favorites'. With most of the other Hashira I could, fairly easily, pinpoint what about them it was that I liked, as well as unique ways their characters and arcs enhanced the overall narrative. But for Uzui, I struggled to define what it was about him that made him so likeable to me, despite his less than stellar first introduction. So, silently, I struggled trying to put words to page.
Indeed, it wasn't until I started thinking about an entirely different character that I realized what's so special about Uzui's character- his narrative placement, especially so far as it concerns Ufotable's adaptation. (KNY S2 spoilers below).
Uzui Tengen, the flamboyant shinobi. A fairly basic archetype subversion, having a shinobi, who are usually associated with dark attire, stealth, and knives in the dark; instead Uzui dresses in bright colors, flamboyantly accessorizes with jewels and makeup, and uses the Sound Breathing sword style, which is the complete opposite of quiet knives in the dark. The story pretty masterfully justifies this subversion by having it be a sort of extension of Uzui's resentment towards and rejection of the 'traditional' shinobi lifestyle (well, traditional as far as pop culture goes). All of this is pretty masterfully executed, but none of it is revolutionary. Basic, well done subversions of traditional character types are how many beloved characters are born.
What makes Uzui Tengen unique is not necessarily his character. Now don't get me wrong, I love Uzui, and none of this is intended to throw shade at him or his character arc. Uzui Tengen has a rather unique role in the narrative to play- he has perhaps, the toughest act to follow in the whole series. He has to directly follow Rengoku Kyojuro.
This was an issue that was directly enhanced by the excellent film adaptation of the Mugen Train arc. I think it's not an overstatement to claim that this arc absolutely exploded in terms of popularity, receiving massive commercial success and acclaim, both in Japan and worldwide. By the end of August 2021, the film had seen its full international release, and in Japan, Rengoku Kyojuro had become the 40 billion yen man. Rengoku easily was the most popular character the film introduced, combining incredibly strong character design with moral conviction, as well as the physical strength to back it up. His final sacrifice was impactful, and I would say that within the decade, Rengoku Kyojuro's death will become a spoiler on the level of Darth Vader being Luke's father- despite if you haven't seen the movie, if you're in the animanga community, you know about it.
So, in other words, you have an incredibly tough act to follow. Rengoku's impact had not only an impact on Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu; but also fan expectations for the next Hashira in the spotlight. As someone who by this point had finished the manga, and loved all the Hashira, I worried that Rengoku's popularity would be a shadow over the rest of the characters, especially future focus Hashira, and if that shadow were cast, Uzui would be closest to its source.
So, as season 2 aired, I was pleasantly surprised with how Ufotable managed to give Uzui Tengen a fighting chance in the narrative by enhancing the value of his placement in the overall narrative. Following directly after Rengoku could prove to be Uzui's greatest strength.
Tumblr media
Rengoku is an incredibly impactful character. The ripples of his sacrifice are felt throughout the whole series, his presence extending beyond death, like the last lingering heat from the ashes of a fire. Directly following that death, the important thing is to have your characters process it, and for the Kamaboko squad, the way to process those emotions folllowing Rengoku's death comes in the form of Uzui Tengen.
Of all the rest of the Hashira, Tengen is perhaps the most similar to Kyojuro. Both are eccentric young men whom many perceive as odd, however both of their senses of moral conviction are strong, as is their commitment to prioritizing the lives of others over their own; and among the 9 Hashira, they are the only two to not have personally had their pasts shaped by demons. Yet, while their characters do have strong overlap, they also both serve as completely different characters.
Unlike Rengoku, Uzui places less importance to the feelings and needs fo those whom he has not let into his inner circle. While defeating the demon in Yoshiwara certainly was part of his plans, his primary focus was on recovering his wives. Yet, this selfish tendency is complicated by his sense of morality. When it seems like Zenitsu has been killed, Uzui practically forces Tanjiro and Inosuke to leave, admitting his actions were reckless, and refusing to let anyone other than himself get hurt. Unlike Rengoku, who immediately offered to take Tanjiro under his wing, with Uzui it takes far more time for him to show that level of trust and belief in the trio.
This does an excellent job of conveying that Uzui is not Rengoku, a conclusion that the anime does an excellent job of conveying through added scenes, as well as using Uzui's own deeply seated inferiority complex.
It is said that bravado often hides insecurity, and Uzui Tengen absolutely embodies this. Despite his charisma, and his confident declarations of godhood, Uzui truly views himself as the least of the Hashira- the reason he is always putting his own life on the line is it's the one he views as not worth protecting. Both in the sense of the grander meta-narrative, and within the confines of the story, Uzui is trying to live up to Rengoku's legacy. He doesn't believe he could do what Rengoku did, but he will try in his own way to stand true to his convictions. This is probably the best way that both Gotouge-sensei and the writing staff at Ufotable could create a follow up to a character like Rengoku Kyojuro.
By allowing Uzui, who is most similar to Kyojuro, and yet a wholly different character, with his own struggles; to show the audience that not every Hashira will be like Kyojuro, and yet in their own way, each strives for the goal of destroying evil demons.
So if there is a character who was best suited to follow in the larger than life footsteps of Rengoku Kyojuro? To use the words of the man himself:
"just leave those flashy jobs to me!"- Uzui Tengen
