Free to Be You and Me: chapter 29
Chapter 28 | Chapter 30
Disclaimer: I don’t own ML.
Gorilla’s the real MVP here, let’s be honest.
After the whole “being targeted by yet another akuma” thing that day, Adrien’s under such strict supervision that his bodyguard is literally camped outside his door. Well. Almost literally. It seems like it, with how often he’s been checking in on Adrien. Ladybug had appeared at his window and he’d had to shake his head to get her to leave, as much as it had pained him. As much as he’d wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around his lady and never let go.
But the following night is better. Gorilla still drops in but not nearly as often, so Adrien feels comfortable enough letting Ladybug in this time. She perches on his bed, cross-legged, staring at him with wide, expectant eyes.
“Um…” Adrien scratches the back of his head. Ladybug raises an eyebrow.
“Yes?” she says.
“Uh…”
“Mhm?”
“Okay, yes, the akuma was my fault,” Adrien blurts out. “I may have gotten a bit…angry over the way he was touching you.” He’s expecting Ladybug to be mad; to yell at him that she’s not some fragile doll and can take care of herself. Instead, she smiles softly at him.
“I appreciate it,” she says. “Really, I do. But I’m a public figure. I can’t just go around yelling at everyone who gives me even the slightest of creeps. You had a point after I went off at Lila in the park that day.”
“I’m starting to think you were right about that,” Adrien mutters. Ladybug snorts and holds out her hands, and Adrien eagerly stumbles over like she’s pulling him along on a string.
“I have to be used to it,” she says as he sits next to her. “People draping themselves all over me, using me for their own ends…Chloé was the worst offender, back when she liked me. I hated it, yeah, but I couldn’t – you know – yell at every single person who did that.”
“But it’s wrong!” Adrien argues. “You shouldn’t have to be used to it! You should be able to tell anyone no!”
“Uh huh,” Ladybug drawls. “That’s rich coming from you, Mr Sunshine Prince.”
“That’s different!”
“Really? How so?”
“Uh…my father…expectations…”
“I have expectations too, you know.” Ladybug smiles and kisses the back of his hand. “And a horde of fans. I get it, Adrien. Really. I feel the exact same way every time someone crosses a line with you. If anyone went as far as Li – uh, you know…”
“As Lila,” Adrien says, his tongue heavy in his mouth. “You can say it.”
“As far as Lila,” Ladybug says firmly. “I wouldn’t stand for it. And you shouldn’t either. You might have to put up with certain lines being crossed, but you deserve to have those boundaries that no one’s allowed to push.”
“Really?” Adrien says in a small voice.
“Really,” Ladybug says fondly. “You’re the one who has my heart, Adrien. No one else. Apart from Chat Noir but that’s different. And I have stood up for myself before.”
“Really? When? And no, the Lila park thing doesn’t count.”
Ladybug rolls her eyes. “Um…when Félix came to visit. And pretended to be you. He tried to, um…kiss me.”
“He what?” Adrien jumps to his feet, his fists clenched. His bedroom door slams open and Gorilla comes bursting in, skidding to a halt when he takes in the scene before him.
“Hello,” Ladybug says with an awkward wave. “Just checking in on Adrien after yesterday. Trying to make him see reason.”
“After what you just said?” Adrien says. Ladybug rolls her eyes again.
“If you’d have let me finish,” she mutters. “Seriously, we’re fine. Thank you for checking up on Adrien. Lord knows he needs someone who cares about him.”
Adrien winces. Maybe badmouthing his bodyguard’s employer to his face isn’t such a smart move. But, to his surprise, Gorilla’s face softens and he grunts and nods, then retreats, closing the door behind him.
“He knows for sure,” Ladybug groans. “Oh, well. He won’t tell anyone, will he?”
“No,” Adrien says. “But that’s not the point here! Félix –”
“Got the lights punched out of him,” Ladybug interrupts. Adrien’s mouth clacks shut. “I thought he was you, the boy I love, and I still punched him when he tried to force himself on me. If someone went too far, I would tell them to stop. What the Butcher did yesterday was tame compared to other stuff I’ve seen, like the way your fans chase you everywhere and scream for you to marry them.”
“It’s still not right,” Adrien says stubbornly. Ladybug grins.
“I know, my prince. I know. But after dealing with Lila, it’s made me realise that I have to pick my battles.” She holds out her hand to beckon him to sit back down, where she leans in and leaves a long, deep, warm kiss on his lips. “But I’m sorry, Adrien.”
“You? Sorry? Why are you sorry? I’m the one who caused the akuma!”
“I’m sorry that I didn’t consider how you must have felt, watching someone all over me. I should’ve realised. You know, after all the times I’ve seen people all over you. I forgot that just because you’re not a superhero doesn’t mean you don’t get it.”
“You don’t have to apologise,” Adrien says. “You just have to stay with me.”
“Always.” Ladybug twirls a lock of his hair around her fingers. “I’ll never leave you.”
Adrien ducks his head, his cheeks flushed. “Can we…turn the light off? So I can cuddle you?” he says in a small voice. “Like…you? I think I got addicted to your skin after the other night.”
Ladybug giggles. “No need to turn the light off.”
“Wait, what?”
“I, um…got addicted to you touching my skin too. And being able to feel it with my bare hands. So, I…came up with a solution. Spots off.”
Adrien instinctively covers his eyes, both against the blinding flash of pink light and to avoid seeing his lady’s identity. Ladybug’s lilting laughter fills his ears.
“You can look,” she says. “I promise.”
Adrien hesitates. Then, ever so slowly, he pulls his hand down and opens his eyes. It’s…Ladybug? Except not Ladybug. She’s got on an oversized ladybug-patterned sweater, black sweatpants, and a Ladybug mask that hides her face as well as her magical one does. But she’s clearly detransformed; the mask is obviously homemade, what with the neat stitching and side bands and the way it sits on her face compared to how her normal mask does.
“You’re amazing,” Adrien’s mouth says without his permission. “Wow. I never would’ve thought of that.”
Ladybug’s cheeks flush. “Well, I figured you’d get tired of being blindfolded every single time I detransformed,” she says. “And I think Tikki enjoyed the break too. So this was the solution we came up with.”
“Just be careful,” Tikki says, although she still smiles and waves at Adrien. “Don’t let your mask slip. Don’t let Adrien see any defining features!”
“Of course not,” Adrien says immediately. “I don’t care how much or how little of her I see. Just so long as I can touch her.”
“Don’t say that or I’ll die,” Ladybug groans, covering her face with her hands. “I’m still not over the other night.”
“That’s the only reason I could deal with having to send you away last night, you know.” Adrien reaches out and skims his fingers along the bottom of Ladybug’s sweater, earning a sharp inhale in response. “Being able to remember how it felt to touch you. I mean it when I say that I love whoever the girl is beneath the mask.”
“Stop it!” Ladybug whines. “You say all this stuff and I – I can’t – it kills me!”
“Well, we wouldn’t want that,” Adrien murmurs, leaning in to press a teasing kiss to the side of her neck. Ladybug’s breath hitches. “I like my lovebugs alive, thank you very much.”
“So not fair,” Ladybug gasps. “Calling me that – when you have – have –”
“Oh?” Adrien nips her throat; gently enough to not leave a mark, but sharp enough for her to most definitely feel it, if the way she shivers is any indication. “You’d prefer ma choupette? Because you’re sweet and fluffy and I want to gobble you up?”
“I hate you,” Ladybug says weakly. Adrien laughs and pulls away to give her room to breathe.
“Sorry,” he says. “I just love how I can turn the saviour of Paris into a pile of jelly.”
“Oh?” Ladybug straightens up, flushed, a wicked gleam in her eyes. Adrien’s danger senses start to ping. “Well, I’d say turnabout is fair play, wouldn’t you?”
“W-What do you mean?” Adrien says, raising his hands to fend off the ladybug pushing him down and crawling over him. But it’s in vain, because he could never keep his lady away, and she knows it.
“We have to have something to go along with the jelly,” Ladybug says serenely. She trails her fingers down Adrien’s shirt, and he shivers and gulps. “I’m quite partial to pudding. Especially if it’s sunshine flavoured.”
“How can something be sunshine flavoured –?”
Ladybug silences him with a kiss that melts his brain into goo. As she kisses, using one arm to hold herself up, she runs her free hand up and down Adrien’s neck, leaving goosebumps as she goes. Adrien’s last rational thought is that he’s glad neither of them are ready for more yet because of how much she is before his brain shuts off for good and he surrenders to the power that Ladybug has over him.
“Still not seeing pudding,” he gasps when she pulls back, nipping his bottom lip on the way. Ladybug grins.
“Then I’m clearly not doing a good job.” She leans back down and this time, her kiss is much more heated. Adrien groans softly and reaches up to wrap his arms around her, pulling her flat on top of him, cradling the love of his life –
Someone clears their throat. Adrien freezes, as does Ladybug, and they separate, ever so slowly, to find Gorilla watching them with his usual blank frown.
“Gah!” Ladybug launches herself off Adrien, who’s currently cycling back and forth between the five stages of grief while his soul spontaneously combusts. “Sorry! We’re not – I’m not – it’s just – it’s not what it looks like –”
“We’re just kissing!” Adrien says, firmly in the bargaining stage. “Promise! Neither of us are ready for – um – you know – no –”
“No!” Ladybug covers her face, catapulting Adrien all the way back into denial that this is happening to them. “Don’t talk about – that!”
Gorilla just watches them babble over each other. Finally, once Adrien and Ladybug have exhausted themselves and slumped in acceptance that this is indeed happening, Gorilla smiles and gives them a thumbs up.
“W-What?” Adrien croaks. In response, Gorilla points to him, then to Ladybug, and then makes a heart with his hands. Ladybug moans and throws herself face-down on the bed.
“I can’t believe this is happening to me,” she says, her voice muffled by the blanket.
“He’s not your bodyguard!” Adrien splutters. “Um…you won’t tell Father, will you…?”
Gorilla shakes his head. Before Adrien can feel too relieved, Gorilla holds up both hands with all his fingers up.
“Ten minutes?” he says. Gorilla nods. “Yeah. That’s fair after…that.”
Gorilla smirks, then retreats from the room, shutting the door behind him. Adrien reaches over with a shaking hand and pats Ladybug on the shoulder.
“We’re not dead,” he says. “Or busted. But you’ve got ten minutes before you have to go.”
“I’m gone now,” Ladybug mumbles, barely intelligible. “Al – Fox – gah, Rena would never let me live this down if she knew.”
Adrien tries not to grin at his lady’s verbal stumbling. Instead, he digs his fingers into her sweater and pulls her up to sag back against him, where she lets out a pitiful groan.
“I’m gonna have to change my name,” she says. “Dye my hair, move to Australia, and I’ll never have our three kids and a hamster named –”
“You want three kids too?” Adrien says with stars in his eyes, his insides fluttering violently at the “our” part. “And a hamster?”
“Duh! Who doesn’t? I’ve even picked out our kids’ names!”
“Really? What are they?”
“Louis and Hugo.” Ladybug wriggles around to face him but immediately looks down. “And, um…Emma. I’ve always loved the name even before I knew you, but I figured we could also honour your mother with it because I know how important she was to you –”
Adrien sniffles, then crushes Ladybug to his chest, burying his face in her silky hair. “I love you,” he whispers. “I love you so much, lovebug. You’re too good to me.”
“I feel like it’s the other way around,” Ladybug says into his shirt, but she still hugs him back. “And I love you too, my prince.”

Okay, but be self indulgent with me for a minute.
Ladrien almost-kiss in Simon Says, Volpina exacerbates the Ladrien mutual pining, so in early s2 they start dating like maybe the episode before Riposte, he confesses to her. They're dating in Riposte and Gorizilla but like in secret. Eventually, Gabriel finds out Adrien is in love with Ladybug and because he's a shit father, decides to use Adrien as bait to catch Ladybug. Ladybug realizes what's happened and breaks things off with him bc she can't bear putting him in danger.
This happens an episode or two before Frozer, so in Frozer Adrien is still heartbroken, and his confidence is shaken, so he needs Marinette for emotional support when he goes out with Kagami bc he's trying to move on, but it's hard. After Frozer, Kagami is like I'm no one's second choice, boy bye 💅 as she should have, and idk maybe Marinette is still too heartbroken over Adrien too and can't commit to the blue boy either.
So, Marinette decides to just keep it chill for a while and focus on herself, but after Weredad in s3, she's like I can't believe I said i was in love with Chat Noir as if I'd ever hahaha...unless? S3 gives us requited LadyNoir, except things keep getting in their way, so they struggle to be together, then after Chat Blanc happens, and Ladybug sees that their love destroyed everything and got Chat Noir akumatized, she's like mmm better not. Chat Noir is heartbroken, of course, but when Ladybug becomes the new guardian, he realizes that something will always be pulling them apart.
Meanwhile, he's been getting closer to Marinette, and after Weredad, he's like oh, she likes Chat Noir, so he tries to impress her as Chat Noir, but in the end, they realize they're both being selfish and this can't work out either (or whatever the moral of Elation was). So, Adrien is like I'll just have to go after Marinette as Adrien because there are no superhero masks involved, and we can just be two normal kids. But then just when they start to get closer, boom Felix surrenders all the Miraculous to Gabriel, which sends Marinette into her s5 spiral, and she starts avoiding Adrien, he doesn't know why, eventually they figure it out and work through the trauma together, but Gabriel is still a trick ass bitch. Then in the s5 finale, Adrien actually gets to be there and help, and there is a reveal in the end, and they both realize they've been more or less dating each other the whole time on and off, and it's silly and then they makeout while Gabriel gets taken to jail or dies in a corner or something I dunno.
And that's the story of how we could have had all 4 sides be canon before the reveal if the show really wanted to play up the love square instead of whatever the hell they were trying to do with the rivals. The humor of the two of them cockblocking themselves four times, come on.

I'm thinking of a dumb fic where the class walks in on either a Ladrien Makeout Scene or a Marichat Makeout Scene.

Do you think that when love square gets together they'll keep one of the sides secret in being in a relationship? Otherwise, I feel like Alya would then know that Adrien was CN lol (unless the show is cool with letting her know 2 identities too)
Hey!!
They'll definitely keep Ladrien and Marichat a secret unless they either A. want to blow up their secret identity B. have everyone believe they're cheating on each other (or C. have everyone believe they're in a poly relationship, but that would put their civilian selves at risk so yeah they probably won't do that anyway)
I think they won't hide as Adrinette (unless it's necessary for Gabe related reasons), however I'm not sure about Ladynoir 🤔 I could see Marinette refusing to show the heroes as a couple to avoid gossips when they're supposed to be seen as protectors of Paris (re: Prime Queen), but also they could simply kiss or makeout in front of Paris and no one would be shocked with how they already act with each other so who knows 😂
And yeah I don't know about what Alya's gonna know when the reveal happens considering what Marinette said in Ephemeral 👀 but obviously if they want to keep Alya out of the loop for Chat Noir's identity, they'll have to hide Ladynoir. Though that won't stop them from flirting in front of her and Alya still wouldn't bat an eye because what's new really

The Forbidden Effects of Asparagus
the forbidden effects of asparagus by incaelo
“Is it just me,” Chat Noir yelled to Ladybug as he ducked to dodge a flying piece of chocolate, “or are these akumas getting less and less PG?”
“Something tells me it's not just you,” Ladybug grimaced downwards at the streets of Paris as she yelled back over the extensive noise of civilian screams and… moans.
She whacked a piece of artichoke aside with a jab of her yo-yo. — In which they both get hit and find each other in a closet. Makeouts ensue.

cinderella inspired au running through my head that i don’t have time to write: canon divergent from kuro neko where plagg stays in the ring so marinette has no information on what happened or how to contact chat noir. she wants to find him but doesn’t want to offend him by replacing him, so instead she recruits a temporary black cat holder for every battle, hoping that eventually she’ll stumble upon him but also wanting to be very clear if he’s watching that she hasn’t permanently replaced him. this is a very bad plan for two reasons: 1. she still takes the ring home every night which is a huge security risk (marinette is aware this is a problem) and 2. after talking with alya she came to the conclusion that the only person she should absolutely not recruit, even temporarily, is the boy she rejected chat noir for (marinette is aware this is illogical since chat noir won’t know who it is, but she is not aware that it is a Big Problem).
naturally it is around the time of adrien’s Peak Distress regarding this matter that he and ladybug end up stuck together somewhere during an akuma attack

Always Welcome
Ladybug knows that Adrien's window is always open for her to swing by and stop in, whether for video games or a chat or, like tonight, for soft kisses and sweet nothings.
He loves these visits. His girlfriend is always welcome. Always. (Especially for kisses.)
Written for @jennagrinsoverml, to her exact request. 😘 Also, for @ladrienjune Day 8: Bluebell Eyes
Read it at Ao3 here.
Her suit is still cool beneath his fingers, retaining a bit of the chill night air in the places his hands haven't touched yet. To remedy that, he warms the length of her spine and back up to her shoulders before moving lower to splay his palm against the back of her thigh where her leg is thrown over his.
She sighs against his lips and presses just a little bit closer, a near-impossible feat given their current position on his bed but one that he's not surprised she accomplishes. Ladybug is just amazing like that, and besides, he's not complaining.
Soft kisses trail along his jaw, under his chin, down his neck. He can't stop the shiver that runs down his back and makes his fingers jump against her leg, but it only serves to make her smile against his skin.
"You like that, beau gosse?"
His hummed affirmative reply turns into a muffled groan when her lips find his, soft and seeking. Her tongue brushes the seam of his lips, and he lets her lead the way in deepening the kiss, returning her ardor in equal measure.
He used to wonder how people could spend so much time kissing. Kissing seemed wonderful, but wouldn't it get boring after a while? Nino would never divulge actual details, and Adrien didn't want them, but from the general info he heard from his best friend, he gathered that making out was often not a brief experience.
This is not to say he hadn't dreamed about it - kissing Ladybug on a moonlit rooftop as her gloved fingers wind through his hair behind his cat ears, kissing the girl under the mask whom he loves beyond measure without knowing her name, holding her bare hands in his and watching her bluebell eyes close just before their lips meet. He'd imagined kissing her in a dozen different places in a dozen different ways.
But truly, he had no idea that he would come alive in her arms, that time would stop when she kissed him, that he would melt into her and never want to pull away. Adrien could kiss Ladybug forever, and it still wouldn't be long enough.
It's late on a Sunday night and he should be asleep right now, but again, he's not complaining. Not when his girlfriend (okay, secret girlfriend, but it's still official if only they know) is playing with the hair at the back of his neck and exploring the roof of his mouth with her tongue.
His hand on her leg trails lower, past another cool patch to settle behind her knee. When her tongue retreats and she sucks his bottom lip between her teeth instead, he hitches her leg a little higher, pulls her a little closer, though there's barely any more space between them to erase. At her soft gasp, he seizes his chance to turn the tables, rolling them over so he hovers above her before capturing her lips again.
Her gloved hands find the hem of his t-shirt and make their way up his back, the magical material textured but slick against his skin and so, so warm.
It's dizzying - Ladybug beneath him, around him, in the air they breathe together. His heart beats her name, his very cells sing his love for her. Certainly, no one has ever loved another as much as he loves her. And the best part is that she loves him back! He pours all his wonder at that fact, all his feelings, into the kiss, finally pulling away just far enough to breathe the words against her lips.
She kisses him again, clutches his shoulders tighter. "Mmm," she hums, "I love you, too." She tries to keep their lips connected but fails when her smile takes over. "I'm glad I swung by tonight."
It's his turn to press kiss after kiss against all the available skin he can find, making his way to her ear where he whispers, "You're always welcome," and revels in the long exhale he hears and feels against the shell of his own ear.
"Always?"
His lips find hers again. "Always."
"I like that."
"I like you." Another kiss.
She giggles. "I know."
Her soft laugh is replaced once more by the sound of their lips meeting over and over, their mingled breaths and quiet sighs.
He lets her roll them over once more but as usual, he has no complaints about her petite form settling between his legs or her chest pressed to his. Despite the way their bodies mold together, their touches remain soft and tender, a simple closeness as opposed to a rising heat between them.
His hands finally make their way into her hair, releasing her twin tails and running his fingers through the silky-soft strands. He caresses the skin at the back of her neck, just above the neckline of her suit, then her slender, strong shoulders. Her now-loose hair falls in a dark curtain around them and she laughs, sweeping all her hair over one shoulder and diving back in to kiss him again.
He tries to commit every detail of this moment to memory, to relive in his mind when his room is empty and lonely again. The way her hair tickles his neck, her gloved hands cupping his cheeks, mussing his hair, circling his head like a red, black-spotted halo, the feel of her teeth against his seeking tongue, clean and minty-fresh and clearly brushed just before she "happened to swing by".
The past month has been idyllic, a dream from which he has yet to wake. These are not the first precious memories he's catalogued in the course of this new relationship that still surprises and delights him. A flash of red at his window, his Lady's triumphant expression as she pummeled him at video games, the look of sheer wonder in her eyes when he confessed his feelings, their first kiss that he remembered (and will remember for life). Every moment is tucked away and treasured.
Tonight, it feels as though the universe has shrunk to the two of them, holding each other close and murmuring words of affection between kisses that leave them breathless.
"How did I get so lucky?" She nuzzles his cheek with her nose and kisses the corner of his mouth.
"You?" he asks, bewildered. "Which one of us is holding a real-life lucky charm right now?"
"Oh, that would definitely be me."
A blush rises to his cheeks that she can probably feel; her sly grin tells him she knows she scored a direct hit.
"You're literally a superhero."
"Yep," she says, kissing his nose. "And you're kind and caring and selfless and brave." Her smile gentles and his blush deepens. "You're like...an everyday Chat Noir. But with better comedic timing."
His pulse pounds in his ears and his heart threatens to beat out of his chest. It's surreal to hear her say his name - his other name - in the quiet of his bedroom, with she in spots and he in a t-shirt and jeans. Especially like this. In...comparison.
It takes him a moment to get himself together. When he does, he scoffs in mock-offense. "No way. He's the master! I only wish I had Chat Noir's pun-tastic purr-owess."
She stares at him for several silent seconds before dissolving into giggles, her head dropping to his shoulder as she laughs.
"Noooo," she wheezes. "I can't handle it from you, too! No puns!"
"Yes, puns!"
She groans, still laughing. "Why did I ever think you were cool?"
"No clue!" he responds cheerfully, before turning to kiss her temple. "But I'm glad you still like me even after finding out I'm not."
He feels her smile against his shoulder before her lips press feather-light at his neck, beginning a slow trek back to his mouth that sets his nerves alight. His hands journey down her back and pull her tighter to him.
Expecting a kiss, she surprises him by whispering against his lips instead. "Correction, mon cher. I love you."
"I'm glad about that, too," he breathes, and then she's kissing him again. Like always, he's lost in her, swept away in the current of her beauty, her power, the depth of her kindness and love.
He hopes it isn't nearly dawn, but it could be for all he knows. Time is meaningless in her arms.
Soon enough, though, her yawn interrupts their kiss, setting off a matching yawn that makes his eyes water. It must be very, very late.
"I don't want to, but I should go," she says, grudgingly rolling over so they're side-by-side once more. Her gloved hand cups his cheek and he turns to kiss her palm. Her smile is radiant even in the dark. "Don't tempt me, beau gosse. I'd stay if I could. But Mondays suck even more when you're working on two hours of sleep."
Conceding her point, he sits up, helps her to her feet, and walks with her to the still-open window to say goodbye. If goodbye takes quite a bit longer than it should, he is, as always, not complaining. Sleep has nothing on holding his girlfriend in his arms and kissing her breathless.
Finally, she hops up to balance on the windowsill and he gazes up at her, silhouetted in the moonlight.
"Message me when you get home?"
"Of course." She winks and blows him a kiss before she zips off into the night, her loose hair streaming behind her.
Still grinning, he flops back onto his bed and reaches for the magical ribbons he'd pulled from her hair earlier. He twists them through his fingers for a minute or two until they disappear into thin air. A moment later, his phone lights up.
He taps out a response, snuggles into the bed that's still warm from their bodies, and lets his eyes slip shut. He breathes in the scent of her hair that clings to his pillow, smiling softly.
When the phone lights again with her response two minutes later, it illuminates his face, already serene in sleep.

the way you said “i love you”
the list of prompts: 🐞
----------
part iii.
ladrien: slowly, the words dripping from your tongue like honey
----------
They are on his couch, close to the window he keeps open for her at nights. Compliantly, Adrien lays on his back while she hovers over him, and waits for her to love him, in whatever way she sees fit. It's late, and once Ladybug's lips finally touch his, the dimly lit room fills with Adrien's embarrassingly heavy breathing.
So far, they've been lucky; they have not been caught by his father or by Nathalie or by his bodyguard. So far, Ladybug has not had to escape from his room in a hurry.
So far, Adrien has been lucky. He has succeeded in keeping his big mouth shut during akuma attacks, and Plagg has managed to hide in time whenever the superhero comes to visit. Adrien might be the damned black cat, but the ladybug miraculous always seems to affect his luck in a positive way, too.
Still, he has to admit that it has been hard not to call her 'Buginette' as Adrien. There have been way too many close calls.
Adrien prays they’ll never get caught. He prays that he will never get caught, prays that she won’t find out he has been lying to her and tricking her this whole time they’ve been together.
A strange kind of desperation has been eating away at him ever since they started this secret relationship. The kind of desperation he feels when he wakes up after a blissful dream only to realize that in reality, he won't ever get to hug his mother again.
Adrien desperately doesn't want Ladybug to leave.

not that anyone asked but....here are 10 of my favorite ML fics from this year! all of these were posted or completed in 2020. and i am limiting myself to one fic per author but i could probably recommend multiple things from each author so please check out their other stuff as well :D
10 ML fics i loved from 2020!
(not in any particular order)
1. whose woods these are (I think I know.) by Reiaji (105k, complete)
ladrien cinderella au. i’ve rec’d this a lot haha but it’s literally one of the best pieces of fiction i’ve ever read in my life. reaiji’s writing style is one that just stays with you and this story is beautifully developed and conveyed

Sleepless in Paris
I ended up not posting anything Ladrien in June when I'd planned to do something, but then I saw the last prompt of @ladrienjune (Speechless), and since it tied in with an idea I had a couple of weeks ago... Here you go!
Established Ladrien, Adrien receives a text from his girlfriend and overthinks its meaning. Thankfully Ladybug comes and clears things up.
Loosely based on a quote from Le Discours, a novel by Fabrice Caro.
Read on AO3
---
Adrien, we need to talk.
Adrien read the message over and over again, like an overworked student stuck on a paragraph whose meaning just won’t register.
He tossed his phone aside and lied back down, rubbing his eyes as he did so.
Oh, how much he regretted ever getting Ladybug a private phone so they could communicate. It had seemed like a good idea after their third close call, when she had almost swung into his room like she owned the place (and maybe she did, she was his girlfriend, after all, anything was possible), in the middle of an impromptu piano recital his father had requested. Thankfully, the false notes he’d made upon seeing her almost crash into the window had covered any sound she’d made as she changed course, and made sure his father and Nathalie’s attention was on him, and not on the red blur just outside.
She’d laughed so prettily when she’d unwrapped the box and noticed that he’d painted little black dots on the back of the red phone case. She’d insisted on paying him back in kisses and sweet nothings. Even if he’d wanted to, he wouldn’t have been able to refuse; his girlfriend was convincing like that.
Yes. Those had been the good old days.
The ones when the messages he received from her didn’t come as a blow that made his stomach tie into knots and question if he was going to be okay (although that might not have been entirely true; the feeling he’d gotten when he’d read “I love you” on his screen, written down, not just whispered between two makeout sessions or before she left, a permanent trace of her feelings, could definitely have fit that description, but the difference was that he’d questioned if he was in heaven, then).
The timestamp of the message read Monday, 4:36pm. He’d managed to type a “when?” at 5:58pm, which she’d seen at 5:59pm. Nothing since. That was new, too. Even messages that didn’t require an answer always got at least a couple of emojis in reply.
It was now Tuesday, 6:12am, and he hadn’t slept a wink, dissecting the five words, twenty characters, like they were a long lost spell that could fix hunger on Earth.
The first thing he’d noticed was the full stop. That didn’t bode well - even he knew that nobody ended a text like that these days.
Then, the comma. A pause. Not great either, in the context of a relationship.
Especially when it came before a “we need to talk”. He didn’t need to have seen many romantic comedies to know that this was probably an end of the line warning.
Even his name was a sign.
Adrien.
Not “my prince”. Not “my love”. Not even “my Adrien”, like she’d taken to calling him recently. Just plain old boring Adrien . Until the message had arrived, he hadn’t realised they’d been on a downward slope, but maybe he’d been too busy burying his head in the sand to notice. Maybe deep down, he’d known that it wasn’t viable.
That Ladybug, basically a goddess among men, had no business being in a relationship with a commoner like him, however much she tried to fool herself by calling him her prince. Adrien. The more he read it, the more emphasis he put on the second syllable. Ad- rien . Ad rien. Towards nothing. Maybe she’d known they were doomed from the start, that they had no future, but she’d tried anyway.
Maybe he was reading too much into it and the lack of sleep was making him delirious.
Whatever the outcome, he supposed they’d had a good run. He’d cherish all of the moments they’d spent together.
Actually, he thought, sitting up again, maybe that was what she needed. Maybe he could change her mind if he reminded her of all their good memories. There was no way she couldn’t be convinced, or at least persuaded, by his plea. He hadn’t gone six months playing a double game of putting on a fake insensitivity mask over the one he wore with Chat Noir's to avoid her seeing through him, when she deserved to be showered in compliments at every moment of the day, for it to end this way.
He loved her.
He picked up his phone again and pressed the dial button.
One tone. Two tones. Three.
Adrien suddenly remembered the time, hastily hung up, and facepalmed audibly, making Plagg roll over in his sleep and hiss.
“Sorry,” he whispered, before turning his attention back to the phone.
If his call hadn’t woken her up, then his mistake would be the first thing she’d see when she did.
This was bad. It wasn’t like he could go delete the evidence. He didn’t know where she lived, and since he doubted that she slept while transformed, there was no way to track her. Which would also be bad, he reminded himself, but maybe this emergency would justify it.
Anyway,  he couldn't cry over spilt milk, but maybe he could escape. Just move somewhere, preferably on the other side of the world. He could change his life, his name (actually, could that alone change the outcome of their relationship? If he changed it before planning anything, could they pick up as if nothing happened, and would the timeline be fixed? He wished he’d thought about it before calling her), and raise hamsters in the mountains. What he didn’t know couldn’t hurt him, right? And then he could live happily ever after in the sweet, sweet illusion that despite them being miles apart, he still lived in a world in which he was Ladybug’s boyfriend.
He didn’t know if he preferred the idea of her never coming after him, or her seeking him out, even if it was to deliver bad news, but it didn’t really matter. The plan sounded good. Foolproof.
He hopped off of his bed and pulled a suitcase out of his closet. He’d always wondered why his father stored them there when it really seemed like an unnecessary temptation, but at least it was useful now.
If he was to start over somewhere, he needed to leave Adrien behind. The guy was a train wreck anyway, but unfortunately for him, a train wreck people would want to find, when he just wanted to be left alone to mope.
No more white shirts, then. They were too recognisable. He found a collection of dark hoodies at the back of the closet and stuffed them in the bag, along with t-shirts (they’d be hidden under his hoodie so he could keep those), a pair of jeans and some shorts.
He came back into his room and put his suitcase on his bed, scanning his surroundings for other essentials. His eyes landed on the fencing cup he kept his Ladybug pictures in. He’d definitely need those. It would help maintain him in his illusion. He also needed his Ladybug pyjamas, which he kept hidden since he wasn’t sure his father would approve of them. They’d be perfect for his new life.
Plagg stirred on his pillow. Before Adrien could ask himself whether it was reasonable for the small god to come with him, there was a knock on the window, and he froze. He turned around slowly; Ladybug stood in the window frame, looking glorious in the soft dawn light. He noticed she was holding a small paper bag in her left hand. He was sure it could fit everything he’d ever gotten her.
“Going somewhere?” She frowned, hopping inside before he could even move.
Adrien stared at her, before guessing he’d better bite the bullet. “Well I just figured I’d rather not stick around if you’re going to break up with me.” He crossed his arms over his chest.
He watched her face fall and started to doubt his conclusion.
“Break up with…” she muttered slowly, as if tasting the words, before shaking her head. “I’m sorry, what?”
“Adrien, we need to talk.” He airquoted. “I get it, it’s fine. I’m-”
“Adrien, I’m not here to break up with you. At all.” She shook her head again and took a step forward. “What would make you think that?”
“Adrien, first of all,” he stated.
“Your name?...” She tilted her head inquisitively.
“You used to call me my Adrien. Or sweeter stuff.” He pointed out.
“Oh Kwami.” She shook her head, trying to repress a smile, although the blond didn’t notice.
“And then don’t think I didn’t notice you being less present lately.” He waved a finger at her, feeling himself blush. He knew his accusation was a tad hypocritical; sure, their date hangouts in the previous few weeks had been less frequent than they’d been at the beginning of their relationship, when she’d drop in practically every day, but they’d also been full of Akumas and photoshoots, what with his father’s new collection dropping. She’d managed to beat him to his room most days, hanging out around the windows as she waited, which had made it very difficult for him to sneak back in.
But on the occasions they had seen each other, she’d also seemed more lost in her thoughts than usual. Nervously wringing her hands together while they chilled in front of a movie, despite him soothingly raking his fingers through her hair. Being even more elusive about what was going on in her life, if that was possible. Looking at him with determination in her eyes, opening her mouth to speak, only to close it and shake her head with a sigh.
“I’m really sorry about that, my love .” She gave him a pointed look as she took his hand. “I’ve just been thinking a lot lately, about you, me, our relationship. How, you’re right, it might seem like we’re spending less time together to you , but…” she trailed off, biting her lip.
“How could that statement have a but ?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Well, um, I had this sort of crazy idea, because we’ve only been dating for six months and it’s totally not like I ever imagined us getting married and having three kids and a hamster or anything…” she mumbled nervously, and Adrien felt his heart flutter in his chest. “Anyway, I’ve been trying to get a hold of Chat Noir all night to check that he approves the idea, and also because I feel like it’s kind of an unspoken agreement that unless it’s an emergency and it really feels right, we’d do this together first, but he’s not replying and I was awake and you were awake and I thought…”
“Okay my… Lovebug, breathe.” Adrien’s caring boyfriend instinct kicked in as her rambling gave him confirmation that their relationship wasn’t in immediate danger, and he placed his hands on her shoulders, taking a deep breath to show the example. She mirrored him, and they breathed in sync for a couple of cycles, until he was satisfied that she’d stopped hyperventilating. He lead her to his couch and helped her sit down.
“Croissant?” she asked shyly, presenting him with the bag she’d brought. A pastry bag. Not a bag with his belongings. He really needed to stop jumping to conclusions.
“You know me so well.” He smiled brightly as he took one of the baked goods. They were still warm. The croissant didn’t last long in his hands. “Anyway,” he gulped down the last bite, “if you don’t mind me asking, what was your miraculous idea?” He smiled at himself, proud of his pun.
“Well, I was thinking that I could reveal my identity to you,” Ladybug replied, daintily wiping the corners of her mouth with a tissue.
It was a good thing Adrien was already sitting down, else more than his jaw would have ended up on the floor.
“Your… Your identity. Reveal. To me.” He asked seriously, hoping his words would make sense to her. It was better than remaining speechless.
“Yes, I am considering it,” she laughed. The sound made his brain tangle even more.
“Why?” He croaked.
“Well, as I said, it would enable us to spend more time together.” He raised his eyebrows, but she didn’t elaborate. “And I don’t know, I feel like it would be right. You’ve got something, Adrien.” She smiled tenderly.
“I… I do?” He felt himself blush.
“It’s just a croissant crumb, there, let me get it for you.” She leaned forwards and kissed the corner of his mouth. The contact jump started his brain.
“Ladybug, this is serious.” He backed away slightly. “Why me?”
“Fine.” She sighed. “Well, you're my boyfriend, but I know you a lot better than you might think. Before you say anything, no, I can’t tell you why yet, I need to speak to Chat Noir first. But there is something about you, Adrien. I feel like I can trust you. With this. Because of course I trust you otherwise.”
Adrien looked down at his hands and twiddled his thumbs, pouting as he thought.
“Adr- Sunshine? Is everything alright?” Ladybug placed a concerned hand on his thigh when his silence stretched to a slightly uncomfortable length.
“When you talk to Chat Noir, and he agrees to your plan…” He looked up and met her gaze.
“If,” she corrected him, but he waved her interruption away.
“...Will you guys reveal your identities to each other? Will you ask Chat Noir who he is under the mask?” He felt almost feverish as he searched her eyes for a hint of the answer before she could speak.
“Um, yes, I guess that’s how I saw the discussion going.” Ladybug frowned. “Are you concerned that it will change our relationship somehow? Because I promise it won’t, I-”
“Oh Bluebell, it definitely will, but not in the way that you think.” Adrien pecked her lips, a mischievous smile spreading on his as he pulled away.
“Oh?” Ladybug blinked a couple of times. Adrien tried to hide his smugness at her speechlessness.
“Yep. You see, I’m one hundred percent paw-sitive your dearest partner will agree to your plan.” He grinned, watching the realisation dawn on her face.
“How hard was refraining from making cat puns in the past six months?” Ladybug finally sighed, a small smile tugging at her lips.
“Very, my Lady.” He pouted. "But not as hard as refraining from kissing you on patrol."
“Maybe you can help him pay up all the Camembert he owes me for sitting through him ranting about all the missed opportunities,” Plagg called out, making her jump slightly. Adrien rolled his eyes.
“Anyway, you were right, your plan really will allow us to spend more time together!” His face lit up like a kid's on Christmas morning.
“You don’t know the half of it.” Ladybug shook her head, before looking back up at him, an indecipherable look on her face. “Need a lift for school?”
“That’s all you’ve got to say?” Adrien looked at his girlfriend with kitten eyes, disappointed that she hadn’t held up her side of the bargain.
“Well, it’s time to go if you don’t want to be caught by your bodyguard.” She shrugged, stood up, and extended a hand toward him, the twinkle in her eye the only tell in her poker face.
“Ladybug…” He whined, pouting.
“What, Chaton?” Her smile finally broke free. “It’s very literally on my way. I can drop you off at your seat, and then walk to mine… Right behind you.” She booped him on the nose.
Once again, Adrien was thankful he was already sitting down.
As she carried him to school, Adrien decided sleep was overrated. Sometimes reality was the best dream of all.

Free to Be You and Me: chapter 27
Chapter 26 | Chapter 28
Disclaimer: I don’t own ML.
“Since when do you just quiet down and do what your dad says?” Plagg says once Adrien’s shut his bedroom door behind him. Adrien shrugs.
“Not worth it. You know he never listens to me. I just…have to do what he says.”
“You really don’t.”
“I really do. What else can I do? I defy him, so he takes me out of school. I live with him, Plagg. He controls everything. I can’t do anything without him punishing me. And…” Adrien sighs and looks down. “I don’t know. Lately, it’s like he tells me to do something and I just…do it. I have to do it. Saying no isn’t an option. I could say no before but now…I can’t.”
“You’ll figure out how to stand up to him without screwing yourself one day,” says Plagg, nuzzling against Adrien’s cheek, which is about as close as he’s ever come to saying, “I love you.” Adrien grins and cups his kwami in one hand, drinking in the tiny purrs from the ancient cosmic god of destruction.
But then Plagg stiffens. Before Adrien can ask what’s up, Plagg’s darting towards his trash can, right before there’s a tap on his window. Adrien lights up and rushes over on sunlight.
“Ladybug!” he breathes as he lets her in. “You came back!”
“I wasn’t just going to leave you,” Ladybug says. “Not after the way he spoke to you.” Her brow furrowing, she adds, “I know he’s your father and he loves you, but he shouldn’t talk to you like that! No one should! He wasn’t even happy to see you were safe!”
“Of course he was,” Adrien says, compelled to defend his father. “He just…doesn’t show it. But I know he was happy to see me safe.”
Ladybug mutters something that Adrien doesn’t catch, nor is he sure he wants to catch, judging by the look on her face. Then her brow smooths and she leans in and pecks him on the lips.
“Well, I’m glad you’re safe,” she says.
“Thank you.” Adrien swoons against her. “My knight in spotted armour!”
Ladybug giggles. She scoops Adrien up and twirls around, kissing him as she does so, somehow not losing her balance in the process, and Adrien’s floating away on fluffy clouds. But then she falls back on the bed with him and hugs him tight – way too tight. Like she’s reassuring herself of something. Adrien sighs.
“Ladybug,” he says. Ladybug looks down at him with her beautiful bluebell eyes. “You can’t do that next time.”
“Do what?”
“You know. Drop everything to save me.”
“What do you mean? It’s my job to save you!”
“You know what I mean,” Adrien insists.
“No, I don’t,” Ladybug lies, looking away. Adrien sighs again and rests his chin on her chest.
“Don’t do that,” he says. “Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about to get out of it.”
“I don’t know what you mean,” Ladybug says stubbornly.
“Okay. Fine. You can’t sacrifice the entire city just to save me.”
“But I didn’t! Bloodhound barely did any damage to Paris!”
“That’s not the point! What if it was an explosive akuma? Or an akuma that could easily hurt or brainwash lots of people? I’m not more important than every other person in Paris.”
“You are to me,” Ladybug says, her voice cracking. Adrien’s stomach drops.
“You don’t mean that.”
“I…I know everyone else is just as important as you. They’re all people too. But…I can’t watch you get hurt, my prince. You mean as much to me as Chat Noir. And Fo – my best friend. I can’t just stand there and let akumas take you or brainwash you or – or k-kill –” Ladybug’s breath hitches. Adrien immediately pushes himself up her body to soothe her with a kiss.
“You’re Ladybug,” he murmurs against her lips. “You always fix everything. I don’t mean because it’s expected of you; I mean because you’re so brilliant and brave that you’ve always got the solution for everything. I trust you. I trust that you’ll save the day and bring me back.”
“Until I c-can’t,” Ladybug whispers.
“Then I won’t even know about that,” Adrien tries to joke. But it’s the wrong move entirely; Ladybug wails and clutches him to her tightly, spamming kisses all in his hair, and Adrien rushes to babble apologies and assurances. Anything to pull his lady out of the state she’s in.
“I’m sorry, ma choupette,” he says quickly and quietly. “I didn’t mean – I just wanted to make you laugh –”
“I know,” Ladybug sniffles. “I know.”
“I’m sorry,” Adrien says again. “I just…that’s what I learned as Aspik. I tried over and over, so many times, and I could never save you. I had to accept that I couldn’t keep selfishly trying to save you just for me.”
“But I don’t want to watch you get hurt,” Ladybug says miserably.
“I. Trust. You.” Adrien punctuates each word with a kiss to the tip of her splotchy, runny nose. “I know you’ll bring me back. Not just because you’re Ladybug but because you love me, for some reason.”
“Don’t, or I’ll write you a list and force you to read it,” Ladybug says with a watery laugh. Adrien grins and wipes her damp cheeks free of tears.
“Don’t cry,” he says. “Don’t cry, mila – my lovebug. I didn’t mean to put pressure on you. That’s just how much I trust you to save me.”
Ladybug grabs Adrien’s face and yanks him up into a heated kiss. It’s messy, hot, almost painful as their teeth clack together, but Adrien melts into it like butter, reaching up to brush strands of dark hair off her forehead.
“I hate it,” Ladybug says thickly after pulling away. “I hate not being able to love you openly. I hate having to sneak around and pretend I don’t know you when I see you and –”
“I know. I know.” Adrien rolls sideways onto his back, pulling Ladybug with him so that she’s lying on top of him. Her gorgeous mouth drops open at the sudden change in position. “Having to pretend in front of Bloodhound so Shadowmoth didn’t find out was painful. And then in front of Nathalie and Father. All I wanted was to kiss you –”
Ladybug slams their mouths together desperately, wetly, nipping on his bottom lip. Adrien cradles the back of her head with one hand and fumbles for a place to rest his other one. He finally lands on the small of her back, and Ladybug gasps into the kiss.
“Not – Not too far,” she says, her words falling over each other. “My brain – not working – stop me if it goes too far –”
“Of course,” Adrien says immediately, because his whole body might be burning with the desire to touch his lady in every way he can, but he’ll cut his own hands off before doing anything to make her even remotely uncomfortable or feel as though her boundaries have been crossed. With a sigh, Ladybug resumes kissing him, and he pulls away after a few moments to try to trail kisses down her neck, only to be rudely blocked by the collar of her suit.
“What is it?” Ladybug says when Adrien remains silent for too long, his brain warring between stupid idea, don’t ever do and oh my gosh yes please.
“Um…” he says. “I mean – you can say no of course, I don’t want you to feel forced –”
“Adrien.” Ladybug kisses him on the forehead. “Just tell me. I trust you enough. Uh, that’s as much as I can word.”
Adrien laughs softly. “Can you, um…detransform? Not to see who you are!” he hurries to add when Ladybug stiffens until she could rival a statue. “I’ll blindfold myself and everything! I just – I want to feel you – not the suit – never mind, it was stupid, I’m happy with this –”
Ladybug straightens up on top of him. Tongue heavy in his mouth, Adrien’s about to babble more apologies, to pray desperately that he hadn’t just ruined everything between him and his lady, but then Ladybug’s working his white overshirt down his shoulders and pulling him up off the bed to get it out from behind him.
“L-Ladybug?” Adrien melts into a useless puddle of goo at the sheer strength of his lady and the fact that she’s taking his shirt off. “What –?”
“I trust you,” Ladybug says firmly, holding up the overshirt. “As much as you trust me.”
Adrien’s heart skips a beat. He immediately lifts his head, allowing Ladybug to pass the shirt behind him, and then he’s gifted with one last smile before the sleeves pass over his eyes and his vision turns to black. Scrabbling around his right temple lets him know that Ladybug’s knotting the sleeves, and then it stops and he’s left in pure darkness, his only point of contact with reality being Ladybug’s body on his.
“How many fingers am I holding up?” says Ladybug’s musical voice.
“You know I could just lie and say a random number to act like I couldn’t see, right?”
Ladybug huffs and lightly taps him around the head. “Adrien! This is serious!”
“Sorry, sorry!” Adrien grins. “I really can’t see anything. Promise. Cross my heart.”
For almost an eternity, Ladybug says nothing. Adrien fumbles until his fingers find her – any part of her, he’s not sure which – and dig in, grounding him. Then, so quietly that he almost misses it, she murmurs, “Spots off,” and a warm rush of power heats his hands, replacing smooth spandex with what feels like soft denim.
“Ma –” Burp. “Ladybug!” scolds a high voice. Tikki.
“He can’t see anything!” Ladybug says. “I trust him, Tikki. One day, Adrien, you’ll get to meet my kwami. I’d be lost without her.”
And one day, you’ll be able to talk to mine with me there, Adrien thinks in response. Out loud, he says, “I can’t wait. She sounds amazing.”
“I trust your judgement, Ladybug,” Tikki says after a long pause. The sound of a soft smooch fills the air; no doubt Ladybug giving her kwami some well-deserved appreciation.
“That means a lot,” Ladybug says. “Thank you. Are you sure you’ll be alright?”
“Oh, I’m sure I’ll find something to keep myself occupied,” Tikki says in an odd voice. Adrien fights back a grin, lest he have to explain to Ladybug that Tikki’s something is very likely to be Plagg, and he only knows this because she knows who he is and he happens to have Plagg in his room.
“Okay,” Ladybug says. “Okay. Where were we?”
Adrien reaches up, fumbling until he reaches soft skin and then silky hair. “I believe we were here,” he says suavely, pulling her head down until he can kiss her on the…not-lips. Ladybug giggles.
“That’s my eyelid. But I appreciate the effort,” she says.
“Eyelid kisses can be sweet,” Adrien sulks. He brings his hand back down from her hair, along her face, mapping out with his fingertips the skin under her mask that he’s never felt before. His exploration is cut short by his hand being grabbed and a kiss being pressed to his palm.
“Don’t try and figure me out by touch,” Ladybug teases. Adrien wonders how much of her jest is true and how much is fear.
“Never,” he says. “I told you, I don’t need to know your name to know who you are. I just…want to know everything I can about you. Everything I’m allowed to know.”
Warm breath ghosts across his palm. “It won’t be forever, my prince. Once Shadowmoth’s been taken down, we’ll be free to be together.”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
The lips against his palm curve into a smile. “I know you will.”
There’s not much talking after that. Not after Ladybug demonstrates her brilliant brain, her magnificent mind, and gets them back on track to where they’d been before she’d detransformed. Adrien holds her to him desperately, clutching her, digging his fingers into soft fabric that’s so, so familiar but that he can’t for the life of him place –
“O-Oh!” Ladybug breathes when Adrien trails kisses down her jaw and neck. “That’s – oh, wow – so much better without the suit –”
“I have good ideas sometimes,” Adrien chuckles against her warm skin. There’s the faint scent of vanilla in the hollow of her throat, something so tantalisingly known yet just out of reach, and he decides that this means his mind isn’t sufficiently occupies and so he adds a tiny nip after one of his kisses. Ladybug emits a high-pitched whine, not unlike a kettle.
“You’re – wow –” she squeaks. “How do you –?”
Adrien grins. “Would it be cheesy of me to say that I’ve done this in my dreams many times before?”
Ladybug starts mumbling to herself. It takes a few seconds for Adrien to realise that she’s counting to ten and then backwards, and warmth floods his stomach because he’s doing this to her. It’s him that’s got her so flustered and worked-up that she can barely even function.
“Can I, um…” He trails one hand down her back until it’s resting on her hip, then teases the hem of her shirt. Ladybug drops her forehead against him.
“Y-Yes,” she says breathlessly. “Just – that. Only that. No higher. Or lower.”
“Of course,” Adrien says. Now with permission, he slips his hand beneath her shirt, brushing it along the hot skin of her lower back, careful not to go too high or too low, while resuming his path of kisses along her throat. He maps out his lady, committing every touch, every taste, every scent to memory, to keep him company on the lonely nights when she can’t visit, and it’s not long before Ladybug’s a total writhing disaster on top of him. She hasn’t kissed him in an eternity, but Adrien doesn’t mind. Not when he can make her feel good like this.
“Thank you,” he says, scratching the small of her back softly. Ladybug’s fingers dig into his hair and yank. “For trusting me enough to do this. With…you know, everything.”
“Always,” Ladybug breathes.

Forbidden Love
Day 2 is doneee!! And it’s all about post-relationship, pre-reveal haha!! I hope you enjoy this chapter bc it does contain Ladrien kisses <3. Forbidden love suits these two sooo wellll <3. Ladrien angst is my fave so lemme know what you think :)
AO3
“We can’t keep doing this,” Ladybug murmured even as her fingers tangled in Adrien’s hair, pulling him to her in another sweet, passionate kiss.
“I know,” he spoke breathily after pulling away for a few, deep breaths of air.
She nibbled on her bottom lip as she peered up at him from beneath her lashes. His chest was heaving with every bit of air he sucked in. His clothes were ruffled and his emerald green eyes had darkened considerably as he stared at her almost desperately. His lips were swollen with her kisses and when his tongue slowly peeked out to wet them, Ladybug groaned before capturing him in another kiss.
She really shouldn’t keep doing this. If Hawkmoth ever found out that she was engaged in a relationship with a civilian he could hurt Adrien and everyone he loved. She just couldn’t let that happen. But it wasn’t fair! She and Adrien were in love! Why should she have to give that all up in favor of an evil supervillain?
With a small sigh, Ladybug pulled away from him and his tempting lips once again. His eyes had fluttered closed during their makeout session but they slowly opened again as he met her gaze. She felt her heart thump wildly in her chest as her whole body ached to connect their lips once again. Forcing herself to fight the temptation, she clenched her fists tightly on his white couch.
“I-I’m sorry,” Adrien stuttered out in a quiet murmur, glancing away from her as he scratched the back of his neck. “That was my fault.”
Ladybug chuckled bitterly, shaking her head as she gave him a sad look. “No, Adrien. That was all me. I should be the one apologizing. You’re just so tempting.”
He turned back to stare at her with a pair of wide, surprised eyes. This time, she whipped her head away as he gave her an eager smile. Shutting her eyes tight, she refused to look at him this time. He always looked so cute, boyish, and eager that it pained her not to pull him into another kiss. She needed to resist! She couldn’t risk Adrien getting hurt. He was too important to her.
“Wait, but if you like kissing me and I like kissing you... what’s the problem?” Adrien asked earnestly. Ladybug was certain that if she connected their gazes again, his eyes would be sparkling. How could one boy be so cute?
Heaving another quiet sigh, she steeled herself before opening her eyes. Her resolve weakened slightly as she saw his adorable smile. Feeling slightly weak and jittery, she shook her head slowly, sucking in a deep breath. “Because I can’t keep doing this, Adrien. I could be putting you in danger. What if Hawkmoth finds out? You could be his next target and I don’t know what I would do if you got hurt.”
He placed his hand over hers, squeezing it gently and Ladybug blinked down at it in shock. A smile was clear in his voice as he spoke to her next, “But what if Hawkmoth never finds out? What if we can just keep it a secret from everyone?”
Ladybug scoffed lightly, shaking her head. “When has that ever worked, Adrien? I practically sneak into your bedroom every night. What happens if Nathalie or even worse your father barges in one day? Don’t you think it’d be a little odd if they saw you kissing the superhero of Paris?”
Adrien’s cheeks turned pink as he ducked his head down even as a small grin appeared on his lips. Realizing her own words, Ladybug flushed as well, wondering when and how she had gotten so brave with him? It was probably because of all the kissing they had been doing lately. It was sort of hard to stutter and stammer when she knew his lips almost as well as her own.
“Okay,” he finally nodded his head, seemingly making up his own mind. “What if we didn’t stay here, then? What if you come pick me up and then take me somewhere else?”
Adrien gestured out his window and she blinked a pair of startled blue eyes at him. God, was she tempted to take him up on his offer. Thoughts and images swirled around her head with the idea. Fantasies of yanking Adrien away and spending hours up on the top of the Eiffel Tower just talking with him filled her mind. Of course, they would share a few kisses which would just make everything even more perfect.
With a small whimper, Ladybug shook her head firmly once again. Forcing herself to stand up, she clenched onto her yo-yo tightly. “We can’t, Adrien, I’m so sorry. What if someone catches us and rumors start spreading? It’s just too risky. I never should have started this. It’s my fault.”
“Hey,” Adrien spoke decisively, pushing himself up as well as he held onto her hands once again. He forced her gaze back up to him as he said, “This is just as much my fault. We started this together, LB, and we both knew what we were doing. I wanted this just as much as you did.”
Ladybug gaped over at him, her eyes softer than they had ever been before. He was so perfect. How did he know just what to say to make her feel better? Smiling gently, she couldn’t stop herself from whispering, “Find me.”
“W-what?” Adrien blinked at her in confusion, his head tilting to one side adorably.
“Find me,” she said again, more determinedly this time. “If you can find me as a civilian... without all the danger and worries... then we can be together. For real.”
She must be going crazy. For one, there was no way Adrien would ever be able to figure out who she was. And, also, she never should have asked him to do this. It could be just as dangerous.
She was about to open her mouth to backtrack when Adrien cut her off, “B-but what if I find someone who isn’t you?”
Ladybug relaxed slightly even as her heart twisted at the idea of Adrien falling in love with anyone but her. Still, if it was left up to him and he did find someone else, perhaps she should just let them stay together. It would be easier than convincing herself to stay away from him completely. Slowly nodding her head, she squeezed his hand back this time. “That’s up to you, Adrien. I won’t tell you if you get it wrong or right. That could just put us in even more danger.”
“Can you at least give me a hint?” He searched her eyes rather desperately.
Humming lightly, she removed one of her hands to tap her chin thoughtfully. Deciding on something that wouldn’t give her away too badly, she eventually murmured, “I’m closer than you think.”
Quickly, Ladybug brushed one last kiss against his cheek before bolting away, yo-yo spinning in her hand. Her flaming cheeks were cooled by the night wind as she weighed whether or not she wanted Adrien to figure out who she was or not. She let herself swing back home, deciding that it was time to let fate take the wheel.

100 Ways to say I Love You Chapter 3
I just wanted to hear your voice (Ladrien)
AO3
Adrien couldn’t sleep.
The usual sleep playlist he put on for nights like this was halfway through it’s second loop and still he was wide awake, his mind replaying the events of the day before.
00:59...01.00...01.01...01.02
He stared silently at the blinking digits of his alarm clock, the red numbers glowing brightly in the dark, taunting him with their colour.
Red
Ladybug’s colour.
The colour her face had been when she’d given him the number to her burner phone. Adrien still couldn’t believe it. He had her number as Chat Noir, of course, but this was different. This was Adrien she’d given it to.
They’d been-not dating, because it was near impossible for the two of them to go out on normal dates, but...testing the waters for two weeks now. Mostly through sneaky makeout sessions with blushing faces and fumbling hands, but it had always been Ladybug who initiated contact. Ladybug who came on late night visits to his room. Ladybug who would pull him into an alcove and kiss him senseless when he least expected it.
Not that he was complaining.
Adrien groaned, the memory of Ladybug’s lips on his jaw-one of her favourite places to kiss, as it turned out-came to the forefront of his mind. Now he’d definitely be staying awake.
Turning to face the wall, he screwed his eyes shut in an effort to force himself to sleep but it was no use.  His covers were twisted around his legs from tossing and turning for hours and the pillow had become flat and uncomfortable.
Flipping back over onto his back, Adrien fished his phone out from underneath his pillow, squinting at the sudden brightness as he located Ladybug’s phone number.
Ladybug’s phone number. It didn’t seem real at all, but there it was in his contacts, right above Marinette’s. It almost felt like a dream. Like he’d wake up any minute now and check his phone only to see that it hadn’t happened at all.
“I can call her right?” he asked the air, voice echoing in the silence. “We’re kind of boyfiend girlfriend now…” Still, his finger hovered over the call button, contemplating. It was one in the morning now. What if she was asleep?
But really, what harm could it do?
“I’m gonna do it.” he declared “I’m gonna call her.” and before he could second guess himself, he’d pressed the button.
She picked up on the second ring, and though he’d never admit it, Adrien let out a tiny sigh of relief. He hadn’t imagined it. It was real.
“Adrien?” Ladybug sounded concerned “is everything alright?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah,” he shook his head, sitting up. “I’m fine, I just...I just wanted to hear your voice. I didn’t wake you up did I?”
“Oh please, ” Ladybug scoffed, “as if I go to bed this early.”
“Early-?! It’s one o’clock!”
Her soft laughter swept over him, warm like honey, and Adrien couldn’t help but grin, relaxing back against his headboard. “Like I said-early. I was just finishing up some homework.”
“Anything I can help with?”
“Nope. I just finished and anyway,” he could detect the amusement in her voice as she continued. “I have a classmate who I can get to look over my answers tomorrow. He’s really good at physics.”
“Oh really?”
“Really really.” Ladybug confirmed. “So, I am all yours right now,” she paused. “Unless Hawkmoth sends out an akuma, in which case, duty calls, but you know that.”
Adrien was glad he wasn’t on a video call, because he was sure he looked absolutely pathetically smitten. All yours.
He liked the sound of that.
