Hey guy's guess who's back thinking about this again
I LOVE a portrayal of addiction based around rules playing a game with yourself "an unnecessary trial of will" there is not win to addiction it is never something you fully leave you are always 'currently sober' or 'trying to stop' you will never be a non smoker after you've started you can never go back It's about him knowing it's bad for him and not stopping it's the rules it's the he only smokes on a case and only under specific circumstances it's as long as he follows all the rules it's not a problem he's got this he is more protocol than man he can do this look at him he. can. do. this.

even at our worst, we know we'll still be okay (luke castellan x apollo fem! reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: Where Percy's insistent pestering forces Luke to rethink on his possibly not platonic feelings for you, his best friend, and Percy's questions are answered for him with Luke's reaction to you being heavily injured on your return from your quest.
pairing: luke castellan x apollo fem! reader
a/n: i'm actually in love with this, maybe it's just the friends-to-lovers in me (where a love confession happens because one of them was near death's door-) but man.. also, i love including percy so much he's such a kid.
masterlist for this series

"Face it, man. You're whipped."
Percy watched Luke choke on his water, coughing as he tried to swallow past the sudden accusation. Wiping at the excess that dripped past his chin, Luke raised a brow at Percy.
"Whipped? For who?" Luke questioned, eyes averting and staring straight ahead, beyond the training grounds towards the meadows in the distance, seemingly searching for something or just doing a poor job at avoiding Percy’s unimpressed stare.
“I’m not blind, as much as Annabeth claims, to this...love stuff.” Percy huffed, half in exasperation and half in exhaustion as he leaned forward using his sword to balance himself. “You’ve been depressed ever since she left for her quest.”
Luke doesn’t need to hear your name to know who Percy was referring to. It’s been weeks since you were chosen by your father, Apollo, to descend on some mighty quest to fetch back his lyre that had been stolen. It wasn’t supposed to be a dangerous quest, but Luke had felt his gut sinking when he first heard the news from you.
“Why does he need to send you out there, where you could possibly be tracked down by monsters to get back a musical instrument of all things?” Luke snapped, exasperated as he runs his fingers through his curls, pacing back and forth in the Hermes Cabin, while you laid on his mattress looking undeniably calmer than he was.
“Luke, my dad won’t purposely send me on some death trap. I'll be fine.” You tried to reassure him, waiting for him to calm down in his pacing before you extended your hands in his direction right as he turned to make another round through the cabin for the seventh time. “Hey, come here.” You gestured. “Sit with me.”
He hesitated, stopping in his tracks as he finally took the time to look at you, noting your concerned expression at him. As if you weren’t about to descend on some ridiculous quest to god knows where all because your father couldn’t pluck up the effort to collect the instrument himself.
The longer your hands stayed outstretched for him, the more his anger and frustration dissolved into the overwhelming need to be near you. One second, he’s standing and the next, he’s laying in bed with you, your arms wrapped around him to stabilise him even though he should be the stronger one. The one to look out for you.
Laying his head on your shoulder as he wrapped one of his fingers around your hair, curling it in his palms, he spoke again in a soft whisper only for you to hear. “I’m worried.”
“I know.” You responded, your hands tracing at the curve of his shoulder, stopping at his collarbone, before your finger moved to tilt his face by the chin to look at you. “You trust me, right?” You ask, knowing his answer but wanting to hear the reassurance all the same.
“Course' I do.” He replied immediately, his eyes intense as he made eye contact with you. That was without question. You could ask him to walk into blazing flames, and he'd trust you would ask for good reason.
“Then you can trust that I’ll make it back alive.”
“Alive can mean lots of things.” He muttered, his eyes growing distant, the ghost of blood and a stinging burn running down the half of his face appearing uninvited in his mind.
“I’ll make it back alive and unharmed.” You reiterated, a knowing look in your eyes as you unconsciously traced at his scar, leaving warmth where it resides, making him shiver instinctively. “It’s a promise, Luke.”
He stayed silent, before slowly moving his hand to cup yours that rested over his scar. “I’m counting on it, sunshine.”
That promise rested over Luke’s conscience, gnawing at the back of his heels, chasing him daily from the early hours as he forced himself not to break over the stress and anxiety before putting on his golden boy facade, to pretend that he wasn't constantly distracted and nauseous over the thought of something happening to you without him being there to protect you.
He would've snuck out of camp if he could, just to find you, but Chiron had been tight-lipped on your destination, his all-knowing gaze piercing right through Luke when he had tried to nonchalantly ask about your whereabouts.
"I wish I could help you, Luke." Chiron had told Luke a few days after you had gone. "However, Apollo's request was clear. Only she shall take on this quest. No one else." The pin-point gaze Chiron had locked onto Luke made it clear he was talking about him.
"I am not whipped." Luke denied. "She's my friend. Like how you're my friend."
"I don't think your friendship with her is normal though." Percy fired back quickly, sipping on his own water as if he didn't casually demolish the older boy. "I swear I caught you bringing her back after curfew to your cabin, a few times in fact."
Luke felt his cheeks flush at Percy's sudden interrogation, smashing facts after facts on an early Tuesday morning. "I've been having.. nightmares lately. She's the only one who keeps them away." He didn't know why he felt like he had to explain himself to the kid, but the longer his friendship with you went under fire, the faster he wanted to get out of this conversation.
"You don't think that's something you should think deeper about?" Percy muttered with a shrug.
Luke is left speechless, his mind short-cutting at the sudden implication of.. him feeling something more for you? His most recent memories flashed through his mind. You tucked under his blanket as you laid beside him for the last night before your quest, a sleepy smile etched on your lips before you whispered him goodnight and he pulled you into his chest so he could feel your heart beating against his to push away any tricks currently playing on his mind, bringing light to how you're the only person he believes could calm him down and bring him peace-
"She's my best friend." Luke replied, more to himself than to Percy. "I'm just worried for her. A quest like that shouldn't take so long, and I keep imagining-"
He stopped in his tracks, not wanting to say his fears out in the open in fear that his words would jinx it, but Percy knew where he was getting at. Percy inched closer to Luke, moving to pat him awkwardly on the back in an effort to comfort him. "It's normal to be worried. From what I heard from Annabeth, you two are really close. I didn't have much conversations with her before she left, but she seems brave, and smart too. I have no doubts she'll make it back. If she's half as good as you, there's no way she wouldn't."
Luke felt a real smile crossing his face, the corners of his lips quirked up at Percy's words. "She's not half as good- she is better than me." He turned to look at Percy, that shine in his eyes noticeable as he talked about you. "Don't let her hear that when she gets back though, she'll talk my ear off for ages."
Percy returned his own smile, elated to see Luke have some improvement in his mood, proof being the first genuine smile Percy's seen in weeks coming from him.
"So.. do you want to stop for today?" Percy attempted with a casual tone.
"Why? Backing out already?" Luke teased, a smirk playing on his lips as he inched towards the kid jokingly with his sword raised.
"No!" Percy denied frantically. "I swear I'm not using the sympathy card as an excuse to get out of training-"
The sounds of a horn cut off his words, groaning across the camp, reaching the training grounds in record time. Luke felt his heart palpitate, nearly crashing into his rib cage.
He barely had time to think, yelling to Percy with urgency flying off his tongue. "Catch you later, Perce!" Then, he was off, his legs carrying him up the hills and back towards the camp entrance.
He heard Percy yell his name in confusion, but he could apologise later for his sudden departure.
You had come back to him.
The journey seemed too long, his shoes scrambling for ground, barely scraping the dirt as he ran towards the front of camp. He didn't know what to expect, a celebration with cheers from the other campers on your arrival, a glimpse of your face with that smile he loves. What he didn't expect was the silence as he came towards a slow jog before ultimately stopping at what seemed to be a crowd gathering around something- or someone.
He pushed his way through, barely making the effort to apologise over the thought of seeing you. His eyes finally caught onto what the onlookers were staring at, and his heart dropped.
You laid on the ground, passed out with what seemed to be dark, angry coils covering your skin, ranging from your neck to the outstretch of your back that was exposed from the gash in your shirt. That stupid lyre laid not too far from you, its golden strings ripped apart.
The sound that tore from his throat barely sounded like his voice, yelling out your name as he pushed through the final barrier in the crowd before reaching for you. He nearly made it before someone dragged him back, grabbing him by the shoulders and pushing him away.
The curses that left Luke's mouth would make anyone wince, and he had to resist the urge to punch whoever was holding him back as he twisted his head to face his repressor. "Chris! Get out of my way." Luke hissed, still trying to make his way to you, fury twisting in his gut as he couldn't fathom why no one's helped you yet.
"Calm down, Luke!" Chris pleaded, desperation in his eyes forcing Luke to falter. "I know you want to help her but you have to listen to me. Whatever attacked her left something contagious on her body. Someone already tried helping her but it spread to their skin too!"
Wait? While whatever was attacking your body seemed to grow more intense by the minute, as Luke's gaze locked onto your form and watched the sickening, black coils spread further and further up your neck.
"Rodriguez, does it look like I care if it spreads to me?" Luke spat out, giving his friend a final push. "If she dies, I won't ever forgive myself for standing on the sidelines. Let me go now."
The cold venom in his tone made his friend loosen his hold just enough for Luke to rip himself out of his arms to drop his knees beside you. He grabbed hold of your shoulder, which still had shreds of your shirt to prevent him from being stung by whatever was infecting you, but his other hand which grabbed hold of your back did not face the same fate. The coils snaked onto his palm, and he gritted his teeth at the burning sensation.
Just as he turned you around so he could lift you up, he heard the familiar sound of hooves stamping against the soil and he looked up to see Chiron approaching with a grim expression. No words needed to be said as Luke met eyes with the centaur, a mutual understanding as Luke wrapped his arms around your torso and legs.
He pushed through to help carry you up, barking orders for the crowd to part way as he made his way to the infirmary. The longer he held onto you, the more every bone in his body seemed to scream to let you go, but he only focused on every step it took to get you closer to help, his eyes unable to look away from the paleness of your skin, the blue to your lips.
It seemed unfit for a child of Apollo, a child of the sun, to be dull and lifeless. You looked dead, and if it wasn't for the faint drumming of your pulse he could sense from your wrist, he would've struck the name of your father with such unbridled hatred, Apollo himself would descend from the heavens to condemn him.
"Please." He begged, holding onto you tighter despite his body's cries not to. Begging to who, he did not know, but if any being could save you from the fate you did not deserve, and pass it to him instead, he would gladly offer his prayers and worship. If it meant saving you, he would take your pain and suffer it tenfold just to see you open your eyes again.
It took you five days to recover. The infirmary had been quarantined and no one save for Chiron and Will, the main healer from the Apollo cabin, was allowed in. In those five days, no one dared approach Luke, who seemed near death's door despite having received his own small dosage of ambrosia to heal the coils that had managed to sink into his skin. He had begged Chiron to let him visit you, but Chiron deemed him too unstable to be near you, your recovery process a fragile thing that required tentative hands and patience.
Waiting to see you was a torture not even he could have envisioned for himself. He had been torn apart at the seams, of his belief in the gods and the scars that were immortalized onto his body. He had lived through days of water and nothing but false hope, hiding from monsters and other horrors before he made it to camp, arriving as a scrawny boy with eyes having witnessed events no kid his age should have to go through. Yet, no pain he had experienced could compare to his fears of losing you. If he-
He couldn't think of it without wanting to puke, but if he lost you somehow, he would lose his faith in this world. There would be no one to hold him back, no you, to stop him from letting go of the world that failed him and tearing it down.
It didn't help that in those five days, he had dreams. Of a different world, of salvation. A dark, ancient voice called to him, older than time, with whispers of promised glory and revenge. There was no you, none of your soothing touches or voice to wake him. In those five days, his strength faltered and he made a deal.
On the sixth day, he was woken frantically by a shake on the shoulder from his sleep. He roused awake, dizzy and still-half asleep to see Chris talking to him in rushed incoherent words.
"Awake- She's awake, sleepy-head!"
Luke was half-dressed, still fighting off sleep with aggressive rubbing to his eyes as he tugged on his t-shirt, rushing towards the infirmary with Chris hot on his heels.
He burst through the front door, holding his breath when he finally saw you, propped up on two pillows talking to Will. Tears pricked in the corners of his eyes, blurring his vision as he rushed over to you.
You turned to him then, just in time to see him blink his tears away. "Luke." You called to him softly, and time seemed to stop just for the two of you, and he could only see you in his vision.
"Can you guys give us some privacy?" You asked politely, eyeing Will and Chris, but your eyes never drifted far before moving back to him.
"Of course." Will responded, quickly getting up from his chair towards the exit, dragging a confounded Chris with him with a tug on the back of his shirt. "Hey! I wanted to see her too-" "Give the two lovebirds some time alone, you idiot."
Luke inched closer to you, his heart beating so loudly in his eardrums he swears you could hear it too. You lifted your arms to him and he didn't waste time, taking you in his arms and embracing you so tight, and yet he felt he couldn't be close enough.
"You were dying. In my arms. I felt it when I carried you in here." He muttered into your shoulder, shaking as he finally let out the exhaustion and pain he had been feeling since the day you left.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." You apologised, rocking him back and forth as your voice croaked up. "All I thought of was you. When I fought against that beast, I kept repeating my promise to you. That I would come back to you. You saved me."
He shook his head, feeling his tears wet his cheeks as he pulled back to grab you by the chin, a gentle touch like he was afraid you would disappear if he couldn't see you talking to him, that your voice would be a hallucination he concocted. "I should've stopped you from going. I had a bad feeling since I heard about it. I should've protected you- prevented you from getting hurt in the first place-"
You stopped him with a kiss, desperate yet shy, before pulling away and pressing your forehead to his. "I love you, Luke. I was so scared I would never get to tell you and it would've been my biggest regret. I love you so much, Luke, and I'm sorry if this ruins anything between us but I can't hide it anymore-"
Luke cut you off the very same way you did, but with such intense hunger you gasped when he kissed you, sloppy and with even more desperation, tugging at your bottom lip and pulling you closer with his hand at nape of your neck. "I love you." He muttered through quick breaths. "I love you, it actually hurts because of how much I do." He admitted, grabbing your hand to place right above his heart, which is owned completely and only by you.
He leaned in once more, addicted to the taste of you, kissing you with one hand holding yours to his heart, the other pulling you close so that there was no space between the two of you. When he had to stop so you both could gasp for air, he pressed his forehead back to yours, the first smile stretching at his lips in days. "I never want to be apart from you ever again, you hear me, sunshine?"
You giggled at his words, nodding slightly. "Wouldn't dream of it."
Extra: Luke reappears with you the next day when you insisted on wanting to get out of the infirmary after being cooped up away from the sun for so long. ("You're such an Apollo kid." Luke teases, which you ignore with a roll of your eyes.) He's with you every step of the way, and now that your feelings are out for each other in the open, he doesn't hesitate to kiss you on the cheek or fawn over you without hiding his intensity.
When he makes eye contact with Percy over the room, the damn kid gives him a wink and a thumbs-up.
a/n: i want to expand so much more on this, with kronos taking advantage of luke's weak mind during your recovery and more, OMGGGGGGG. tell me if you guys want more pls and i'll make more parts. thank you for reading if you made it this far <3
update: I am officially making this into a series called ‘everything in between’. To those who want to follow more on their story, you can comment on whether you want to be added to the tag list for this series or check the masterlist!

In a year's time - Azriel x Reader
Warnings: Angst, jealous Azriel, fluff
Masterlist of Masterlists
"But for all he knew you could have fallen for some dashing golden warrior, or found that you preferred your shiny, new friends over him - that you’d found a quieter city full of fae that stole your heart as well as your attention away from him."
Tumblr media
Mor narrowed her eyes at the Shadowsinger, watching as he adjusted the collar of his newly tailored suit jacket and then combined his hair back with scarred fingers.
Azriel had always been annoyingly beautiful - even during their middling years when their voices cracked and they hadn’t yet grown into their long, slender limbs - and so he’d never needed to take special care of his appearance. His hair dried in perfect waves, his skin was smooth and clean despite the scars, and his training had carved out a silhouette as strong and capable as it was alluring. So why did he keep smoothing down his waistcoat like he was nervous?
Mor darted out a tongue, cleaning up the drop of wine that threatened to fall from her ruby red lips, “Azriel? What in the Mother’s name are you doing?”
His eyes barely flicked over to where she lay sprawled out on his bed. She had no intention of attending this ball sober, and if the near empty bottle of wine balanced precariously against her knee was any indication, she would exceed her goal before they even stepped outside his bedroom.
He picked up the tie - midnight blue and hand-embroidered with silver thread - and flung it around his neck.
“Getting ready for the ball.” He answered blandly.
She rolled her eyes, “Obviously,” then continued to stare at him expectantly as he finished knotting the tie, folded his pocket square, and then slid his weapons into place as a last measure, cobalt blue siphons flashing from the backs of his hands.
It clicked all at once as he strolled for the door, forcing Mor to abandon the glass and drink straight from the bottle.
“Oh my gods.” She said, mouth agape. Her shoes clicked along the marble floors of the River House like the beating of drums.
Azriel groaned internally. Even tipsy and wearing seven-inch heels, Mor kept up with his long strides easily, prodding his side accusingly with her wine bottle. It magically refilled itself with every jab.
“You’re trying to impress Y/n!”
Suddenly it was as obvious as the sun rising in the east. He’d chosen the tie you complimented him on last Starfall, despite his hatred of its fanciful nature. He was wearing the silver moonstone cufflinks you’d bought him for his birthday. He’d even combed his hair because he knew you’d notice and muss it up for him.
“Mor-” He warned, color beginning to dust his cheeks. His shadows darted around the hallway, climbing the velvet curtains and peering around the corners to watch for any potential eavesdropping.
“I knew it! I knew it!” She said, swatting him with a frustrated hand. Her red silk dress clung to her waist and thighs before fluttering out in a halo around her knees as she chased after him, aiming to slap him across the head.
Azriel stopped in his tracks and grabbed at her wrists, desperately hoping no one else in the house had left their rooms yet. If he was really lucky, the two mated couples would be making enough noise of their own to drown out Mor’s excitement.
“Mor, stop it. And be quiet.”
“You loooove her.” She crowed, dragging out the sound. Suddenly she straightened up, hands on her hips and frowning, “Is that why you’ve been so irritable lately? Because you miss her?”
Azriel said nothing, gave away nothing, even though Mor had hit the nail on the head in her drunken stupor.
It had been a great honor when Thesan offered to take you under his wing and train you personally. More than a favor to Rhysand, he’d seen your healing talent and wanted your expertise to be well represented in the Dawn Court. So a year ago you’d packed up your things and said your goodbyes.
“It’s only temporary.” You’d promised him, “I’ll be back before you know it. In a year’s time.”
But a lot could change in a year. You’d sent plenty of letters back and forth to each other, and Azriel would be loath to admit that he slept with them clutched against his chest every night so whispers of your scent would chase the nightmares away.
But for all he knew you could have fallen for some dashing golden warrior, or found that you preferred your shiny, new friends over him - that you’d found a quieter city full of fae that stole your heart as well as your attention away from him.
He was happy for you and had been the one to encourage you to move to Dawn. But that didn’t mean he didn’t miss you terribly. You’d been missing from his side like a torn limb, and Azriel had been walking through life at a crooked angle ever since.
“I don’t-” He sighed, he couldn’t lie and say he didn’t love you. He just couldn’t, “It’s none of your business, Mor.” He amended.
He released her wrists breezed past her, but she sprinted ahead of him, splaying her limbs out on the staircase to block his path.
“You need to tell her you love her. Tonight.” She commanded. Her words slurred out gently, the faerie wine finally kicking in when she’d wanted it to. “I mean it, Az.”
He shook his head, “I can’t tell her tonight.”
“Why not?”
“I haven’t seen her in a year! I can’t drop that kind of truth on her.”
“Yes you can!” She fought back. There was some muddled piece of information hanging at the edges of her mind, something important she needed to tell Az. But the wine held it back. Fuck. She cursed inwardly.
“No. I. Can’t.”
“Yes. You. Can.” She was practically seething, pearly brown eyes unfocused but unrelenting. She knows something I don’t, Azriel realized in a burst of shock.
“What is it, Mor? What did she tell you?”
She blinked, dropping her arms from the burnt umber railings. His heart quickened. Had his worst fears come true? Had you found someone else in Dawn worth staying for?
“I-” Damn it. She shouldn’t have finished the second bottle. She cradled it protectively against her chest, feeling the glass cool her hot skin, “I don’t fucking remember.”
“What do you mean you don’t remember?”
“I mean, I’m drunk, Az. And drunk Mor doesn’t remember shit.”
His heart quickened further, a crushing sense of guilt and loss wrapping around his chest like a corset and tightening. Mor at least was saved from further useless interrogation when Rhysand and Feyre bounded out from down the hallway, tastefully disheveled and looking sinful in Night Court black.
Rhysand cleared his throat, straightening his dinner jacket and absent-mindedly straightening Feyre’s crown for her, “Everyone ready to leave?” His eyes glazed over, calling out to the last missing members of their party.
Cassian and Nesta spilled out of their room next, the braids of her coronet slipping out and spilling over her heaving chest. Azriel tipped his head to the ceiling and cursed silently. Mother have mercy…
Nesta pulled up on the strap of her lace dress, only to find that it had been torn to ribbons.
Cassian was in no better shape - the collar of his white shirt was smeared with lipstick, although he didn’t have the same sense as Nesta to look annoyed at the interruption to their… activities. A toothy grin bloomed on his face, shoulder-length hair tangled like someone had been yanking it for hours.
“Can’t make it tonight, Rhys.” He said. He glanced down at Nes, “I’m not feeling well.”
“Me neither.” Nesta said hastily, slipping back behind the door and hauling Cassian inside with her like he weighed as light as a feather. Four months after their mating ceremony and they were as insatiable as ever.
“You’re full of shit, Cass!” Rhys called out just before the door slammed shut. A muffled Fuck you! Came from within, followed by a, Tell Y/n we’ll see her at home! From Nesta.
They winnowed to the outskirts of Daybreak Hill, landing in a field of cushiony moss dotted with pink and violet heather that stirred in the breeze like the dusk-painted clouds above.
Feyre sighed deeply, breathing in the scent of lavender and rosewater. She loved Velaris and no one could hold a candle to the beauty of the Night Court… except perhaps Dawn.
It was like someone had laid a mirror flat on the earth. Periwinkle skies kissed rolling sage green hills dotted with red-roofed villages and sank into lakes of pearl and lavender until it was impossible to tell where the sky started or ended.
The Dawn Court Palace’s twisting spires of honey marble glowed brighter than the setting sun. So brightly in fact that Mor had to help shield Azriel’s eyes with her soft hands as he carried them up through low-hanging satin clouds. Dots of scarlet and midnight black soaring through cotton skies.
His hands turned clammy and the tightness in his chest felt like a giant’s fist squeezing his heart, but he convinced himself it was the thin air that was responsible, and not the raging longing in his heart for you. Still, he had to appreciate the beauty of the red-roofed villages below, tinkering hands hard at work inside chestnut workshops filled with glistening bronze and copper.
They dove through the columns into the open-air hall, any dampness from the mist magicked away by Thesan’s careful hands as he stepped down from the golden dias to greet his honored guests. His rich, copper-colored skin radiated light, melting with the darkness that rippled off Rhysand and Feyre’s shoulders as they shook hands and exchanged the usual pleasantries.
Mor stretched her silky arms above her hands, catching the eyes of a cherub-faced female reaching to grab a flute from the champagne tower. Normally, Mor would have been flattered, but with Emerie at home and a wine-drunk haze over her mind, she was feeling more anxious than anything else. What the fuck was it that she was trying to remember?
Faelights bloomed above him, tinkered in the shapes of roses that gently pulsed, fluttering petals propelling them across the room in a sway of light.
But Azriel was barely paying attention. His eyes skimmed the crowd, searching for a silhouette he knew as intimately as the ridges of his hands.
There.
You stood across the room, half-hidden in the stone archway beside Thesan’s lover, Herades. You bowed your head towards him in silent conversation, nursing a glass of champagne in your hand to try and cool your nerves. Azriel would be arriving soon, if he wasn’t already here, cradling the walls in search of dark corners like he was bound to do. You’d been imagining all the ways you’d greet him - with a joke, with a meaningful embrace, with a kiss. You shook her head, pushing the last thought out of your mind and focusing on Herades’s story again.
Your laugh was a flare of light blooming at the end of a match. Azriel stared utterly captivated. Time moved slower than syrup when you finally met his eyes and smiled with an affection more precious than gold.
“Az!” You squeezed Herades’s arm, politely excusing yourself, and then you were off. You sprang across the room in a billow of cream fabric, like milk poured into coffee. The tips of your pleated skirts were touched with blue like you’d waded out into the night sky. The color matched the ribbon in your hair, and the siphons of a certain lovestruck Shadowsinger.
“Y/n,” He breathed out. You flowed into his arms and he gathered you into them like a bouquet of wildflowers, breathing in your familiar scent of rosemary and peppermint. Gods I missed you. He whispered in his mind, hoping that somehow you’d hear it at the end of that glowing thread.
But the hug was short-lived. Too short-lived.
“Mor!” You sang in that melodic voice he loved so much, grasping for her next, then Rhys, then Feyre.
Thesan looked on humbly, sighing faintly when Herades caught up to you and immediately slid to Thesan’s side.
“Oh I’ve missed you all so much.” You said, rocking back and forth.
“We missed you,” Feyre said into your hair. She was the one to pull away, smoothing out ribbon and giving you a once-over look.
Your time had been well-spent at the Dawn Court. Extra color bronzed your cheeks and tinted your lips a pale berry shade. You stood up straighter, smiled a little wider, and walked with an extra height to your step. You’d always been beautiful and graceful, but it was like you were aware of it now - like you’d grown the last few inches into your body.
“You look lovely, Y/n.” Feyre said and Mor agreed enthusiastically, commenting on your dress and your hair and your… well everything.
“Thank you,” You said, blushing, “Thesan’s treated me very well.”
That was an understatement. He’d set you up in his personal household, paid you handsomely (even more than Rhysand paid you if that were possible), and had had the royal seamstress sew ten dresses for you to pick from for tonight’s ball alone. It was your party after all in commemoration of the advancements you’d made in child birthing practices. You’d handled twelve pregnancies alone in the past year across Dawn and Winter, all of the children delivered safely and as plump and rosy as summer cherries.
“And you’ve repaid it to my court ten-fold.” Thesan said and held up his drink. Even Herades smiled, tawny feathers flaring out with pride. You were responsible for the safety of his sister-in-law and the birth of his nephew - hawk wings and all.
It was a flurry of activity following the Night Court’s fashionably late arrival. You dragged Azriel and Mor up to the dais after Rhys and Feyre. Traditionally the table was only meant for High Lords and their partners, but Thesan was a unique and progressive leader in more ways than one.
Herades and Thesan sat in the middle with Feyre and Rhysand, leaving you, Azriel, and Mor at one end and Thesan’s sister and her husband at the other.
Azriel was eternally grateful when Mor lunged for the center-most seat, forcing you to sit between her and Azriel. You bumped knees with him, leaning close as you whispered about the Court gossip you’d managed to overhear from the cooks or discussing the progress you’d made in the Winter Court.
Course after course appeared in front of him and disappeared, hardly touched. He wasn’t hungry for anything other than you, focusing on the crease within your brows as you tried to remember all the news you couldn’t write to him about or the twist of your perfect, flushed lips as you displayed your displeasure and your joy.
If he believed himself to be worthy of your affection he would have whisked you away hours ago, disappearing into whichever room in the palace was yours and pressing you against the wall, lip-locked until the need for air forced him to stop.
“How are Kallias and Viviane doing?” Mor asked, perking up at the mention of the Winter Court.
You smiled, your cheeks flushing with color, “I’m not supposed to say, Mor, so you must promise not to tell anyone. Anyone.” Mor locked her mouth and threw away the key. Your lips brushed against the sharp curve of her ear, “She’s pregnant.”
Mor clapped a hand over her mouth, nearly upsetting the glass of wine balanced precariously on the edge of the table. One of Azriel’s shadows darted out, pushing it safely out of the way of her swaying arms.
“Stop.” She hissed in disbelief. Her golden hair seemed to brighten with her cheeks.
You nodded, “With twins.”
Tears flooded her eyes, “That wench didn’t tell me.”
“She’s been busy, if you can imagine.”
“Still!” Mor muttered under her breath, eating her food slowly and sipping on her wine quickly. She gave up on being sober the more males approached her from the base of the dais, bowing deeply with proud, puffed up chests and asking for a dance. Word had gone around about her… preferences, and far from dissuading suitors, it seemed to have been offered up as a challenge as to who could change her mind. Thank the gods Emerie had declined the invitation to join them. She would have castrated half these males in an instant, if Mor didn’t beat her to it.
Thesan, gratefully, put an end to it once he caught onto the pattern. One sharp look from him sent them scampering back, coattails between their legs.
There was one final male though who ignored the previous warnings, humbly bleeding out of the crowd as remnants of rose cake disappeared from the tables and the quartet swelled to include twelve musicians plus a singer. Full, cream-colored wings hovered above the ground, tawny-tipped and lush. Even Mor had to admit, with his olive skin, amber eyes, and warm honey curls he was stunning. Like liquid gold poured out of the setting sun.
He bowed deeply, a subtle smile on his face. Azriel went rigid, seeing you lean forward out of the corner of his eye with a blush coating your cheeks.
Mor closed her eyes and groaned. Fuuuuuuuck. That’s what she’d forgotten about. Or rather whom she’d forgotten about.
Naemon - the golden boy who’d begun to court you seven months back. You’d dropped his name only a handful of times in your letters to Mor. Not enough times to convince Mor you were actually taken with him, but enough times for her to remember the bastard’s name.
“Y/n,” His voice was silky smooth and kind, “May I have the first dance with you?” He asked politely.
Your breath caught in your throat and you risked a glance over at Azriel. He looked… bored and unaffected. He reached for his glass, looking more interested in the faerie wine than the male who’d just asked for your hand. It was stupid of you to think he would care for you  as anything more than a friend, and even more foolish of you to think he might be jealous.
You pushed away from the table and floated down the dais, taking the strong and sturdy hand Naemon offered you. The first song was too spirited and quick to reveal any true feelings. It was a blur of silks and lean arms as you wove through the sea of dancers and were gently tossed from partner to partner. But the second song was slower, more intimate. Naemon flashed a look of gratitude to the singer, who winked in return, before scooping one arm around your waist, hand flat on the small of your back. You rested one hand on his shoulder, feeling the rolling of muscle beneath his crisp linen tunic, and held his free hand.
Naemon was a kind and gentle male. After the death of his parents, he’d all but raised his younger sister Namia on his own, relying on the money he earned in the Peregryn legion to make ends meet. It was his care for his sister that had first drawn him to you - any misgivings he’d had melting away as you grew close to Namia from among the other healers. You’d supported her throughout her pregnancy, become her friend, and served as a balm to his anxieties whenever his duties took him away for long stretches of time.
You looked down bashfully, apologizing for missing one of the dance steps and crushing his toe, “I’m better at the quicksteps.” You explained.
Naemon smiled brilliantly, and you couldn’t stop the faint flutter in your chest, “I can’t blame you. The slow ones can get boring. Leaves too much time for overthinking.”
“Exactly.” Too much time for overthinking about a certain Shadowsinger.
You’d never given Naemon any false pretenses about your feelings, always reminding him and Namia that your position in Dawn was temporary. But still… It felt nice to be courted by someone as open as him. With Naemon you never had to guess whether he wanted you or not - you knew he did. The flowers he often left in the healer’s temple, or the offers to take you out to dinner or to dances like this one proved it.
A curl of guilt coiled in your stomach. Maybe now was a good time to bow out and return to your seat. Surely the slow waltz would be finishing soon. The-
“You’re overthinking again.” Naemon said, his full lips brushing against the sharp curve of your ear and heating the gold cuffs you wore. “I don’t want you to worry about anything, Y/n. If you’re enjoying yourself - if you like dancing with me - keep doing it.”
“Naemon-” You began apologetically.
He shook his head, “Don’t worry about me, Y/n.” He said honestly, “I just want to dance with you tonight. Nothing more. Nothing less.”
You stared into his eyes, finding nothing but truth in them. A portion of your nerves melted away and you found that when the cello began to hum out a simple tune, you were still holding onto him and letting him move you through the next movements.
Azriel was barely holding on by a thread. Wine glass now empty and clenched dangerously between shadow covered hands. Rhys shot him a look, and when his attempts to breach his brother’s mental shields were met with resistance, he turned to Mor.
What’s wrong with him? His eyes flashed the question.
He’s being an ass who can’t come to terms with his emotions. Mor grumbled back, sinking into her seat with a fling of yellow-gold waves.
Rhys’s eyes went from confused to wide open as he shot a look to you across the dance floor. Fuck.
Feyre followed her mate’s attention with a look of concern, and then traced Azriel’s steely gaze to the dance floor where you were smiling reservedly up at Naemon. You two made a handsome couple, weaving a clear path through the other dancers as they parted for his magnificent feathered wings.
Azriel stiffened. He’d never been particularly proud of his Illyrian heritage, but his wings… his wings were one of the few true beauties he possessed. But in comparison to the golden-boy warrior that smiled at you and brushed back a loose strand of hair with his soft hands, Azriel found himself lacking… once again.
Naemon was a gentle breeze where Azriel was blistering wind. He was a wide open door, every look he gave you filled with clear affection. Azriel was a dozen locked boxes, each one nestled within the other with all the keys rusted and thrown away. Naemon looked reserved and in control. Azriel felt completely out of it, and it took every inch of willpower to keep the mating bond from driving him mad enough to launch across the dancefloor and bruise Naemon’s high, perfect cheekbones.
But then the dance ended and Naemon parted from you long enough to reach behind his back and pluck a feather from his wing. A few shocked gasps scattered throughout the room. Even Thesan and Herades looked on with raised eyebrows, leaning close enough to touch.
The feather was a beauty - the length of Naemon’s forearm and such a pure white it glimmered like moonlight. You froze, staring down at the treasure he offered you with bated breath.
Peregryns were fiercely protective of their wings and rightfully so. To be allowed near them alone was a great honor. To touch them was an intimate act reserved for family members and lovers. To be offered a feather?! In some circles it was akin to being gifted a thousand roses. In other circles it was tantamount to a marriage proposal.
Both offers were completely overwhelming to you.
“Naemon-” You began carefully, backing away, “I-I can’t.”
He smiled softly, eyes flashing briefly up to the dias where the Shadowsinger had gotten up to his feet, something like desperation and longing buried deep beneath the layers of his hazel eyes.
“Don’t worry about me, Y/n.” Naemon said resignedly, “But please, take this,” He begged, spreading open your fingers before curling them again around the feather, “For everything you’ve done for my family.”
And because I love you, even if you don’t love me back - were the words he didn’t say aloud.
“Naemon-” A shadow fell over your feet, curling around your ankles and skirts and tugging you away like a child seeking attention.
Naemon, for all his relative youth and gentle disposition, didn’t seem surprised or affected by the Shadowsinger’s presence. Azriel hovered close behind you, eyes blown open and desperate.
Please don’t. He silently begged. Please don’t say yes to him.
He almost melted with relief when Naemon only dipped his head in acknowledgement and kissed the palm of your hands. Even that innocent touch made Azriel’s stomach turn.
You turned when Naemon finally disappeared into the crowd. “Azriel, I-”
You had half a mind to hide the feather behind your back, but you couldn’t do such a cruel thing to Naemon. And it wasn’t like Azriel hadn’t watched the whole thing unfold in front of him. You clasped the feather in your hands, careful not to ruffle the delicate barbs.
Azriel was no longer bored and unaffected. In fact he seemed unnaturally flustered and nervous.
He swallowed thickly, mindful of the curious stares you were attracting. Not only had you just been proposed to, but now you were being approached by a male from your past after an ambiguous response - you’d accepted the feather, but Naemon had left alone. The court gossips would have a field day, if they weren’t already.
“Y/n,” He said, his voice thin and quiet. A mere whisper among the riff raff that was steadily building up again in a crescendo, “Can we please talk?” His wings fluttered nervously, and he shot a dangerous look at a male who came too close to you, “In private? Please?”
Your heart fluttered in your chest. You’d barely recovered from Naemon’s dramatic display and you were scared about what Azriel might offer next.
Still you mumbled, “Oh-um… yes.”
The words were barely out of your mouth before Azriel’s hand was on your wrist, delicately leading you through the crowd towards the archway and into the hallway beyond. Fae mingled about in their finery, happy to escape the music and the sweep of dancers.
Azriel scowled. This was hardly any more private.
“My quarters are further down this hall,” You offered, pointing down a sky bridge that connected the public wings of the palace to the private ones. Azriel exhaled in relief, nodding and following you as you cut through unfamiliar halls draped in rich reds, golds, and turquoises.
You stopped at a door of solid oak, hand painted to look like it had been lifted from the pages of a storybook. Resplendent gold filigree traced the footsteps of maidens running along hills dense with colorful flora. Water trickled down from the mountain tops, so realistic that Azriel was amazed to find the handwoven carpets in your room were dry.
You peered down the hall before closing the door with a gentle whisper. Only the songbirds nesting in the high crevices bore witness to your activities.
You hesitated and then tucked the feather into one of the empty jewelry boxes on the vanity. Out of sight, but not out of mind.
Azriel stood motionless by the door, watching as you closed the box and slid it back against the mirror.
“Did you say yes?” He whispered, hating the way his voice caught in his throat, “Do you love him?”
You turned around quickly, the length of ribbon in your hair rippling through the air to land on your collarbone. Azriel was upon you in an instant close enough for you to feel his shallow breathing, but all he did was trace the blue ribbon with his fingers and then push it back over your shoulder.
“I don’t-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You stuttered and your face burned with feeling. Azriel had asked you for privacy so he could ask you about Naemon?
Azriel clenched his fists once. Twice. “The male you were dancing with. The feather-”
You blushed deeply, turning your face away to hide your embarrassment. You had hoped he didn’t know about that Peregryn custom.
He gently gripped your chin with his thumb and forefinger, pulling your gaze back to him. You blinked in surprise. For once Azriel looked… scared.
“Did you say yes to him? Please. Tell me.”
If you had said yes he might just shrivel up into nothing on the spot. Why had he waited so long to tell you his feelings? Why had he waited so long to tell you about the bond? But if he did it now it would just be terrible timing all around. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
You shook your head and Azriel’s wings dropped in relief, eyes closing as he murmured a quiet thanks to the Mother beneath his breath.
“He-it wasn’t even a real proposal. He gave it to me as thanks for helping his sister. That’s all.”
He gave you a pointed look like he knew you were lying. There was no questioning Naemon’s feelings for you. No questioning at all.
“You never answered my second question.”
You crumpled under his gaze. Gods, he looked beautiful tonight. Torturously so. It wasn’t fair. Naemon had loved you openly, never given you cause to doubt his intentions nor made you feel guilty for not returning his feelings. And yet here you were, still pining after the male who’d never seen you as more than a friend. A male whose intentions were never clear. A male who always made you question how well you knew him, and whether those small touches and reserved smiles and affectionate letters were just a polite kindness or something more.
“No.” It felt wrong of you to admit it so callously, even if it was the truth, “No I don’t love him.”
Azriel looked ready to kiss the ground and something about that set a fire within you. Leave it to Azriel to ignore any romantic advances from you, to chase after other females left and right for literal centuries, and then get upset the moment another male found you appealing.
You huffed, pushing him away harshly and crossing your arms over your chest, “It’s none of your business anyhow. I’m allowed to have my lovers and my almost lovers. And if you truly thought Naemon was proposing to me, I don’t know why you’d want to fucking interrupt it!”
Azriel flinched at the coldness in your voice, “I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Then how did you mean it, Az?” You exclaimed, clearly irritated now, “Gods, you never just say what you mean.”
Azriel tried again, grasping at straws. “I would never judge you for your choices, even if you said yes to him or-I just-fuck.”
On any other day you’d be laughing. Azriel was a male of few words, but the words he did say were always perfect and calculated. Nothing about this was calculated or thought out.
“I… you’re my best friend, Y/n. And I haven’t seen you in over a year. I just…” He cringed. Hard. Cauldron boil him. He was doing this terribly, “I was scared.” He finally admitted, and rather pathetically.
“Scared?” You dropped your arms. That wasn’t the answer you’d been expecting, “Scared of what? You’re hardly ever afraid of anything.”
He shrank away, hands clasped tightly behind his back, “That you’d leave me-us. That you’d find a reason to stay here instead of returning to Velaris. And when I saw you dancing with him tonight - the way he was looking at you and the way you were looking at him - I thought… I thought Naemon would be that reason.”
Now you were confused and even more irate than before.
You stalked up to him, jabbing his chest with an accusatory finger, “You were the one who encouraged me to do this. You were the one constantly writing to me about the importance of making friends and “putting myself out there.” You were the one who practically shoved me out the door when I left-”
“Because I thought you wanted this!”
“I did! I-I do!”
“Then what was I supposed to do, Y/n?!” He cried out. His shadows, which had been held back so tightly on a leash throughout the night, exploded outward, coating the bright colors of your bedspread and the rugs and the curtains in inky black. They swirled there, as agitated and timid as their master.
“What was I supposed to do?” He whispered again. He sounded tired. Defeated. “I couldn’t… I couldn’t hold you back from what you wanted. From the happiness and opportunities you deserve.”
“You could’ve at least said something! You could’ve at least told me that you were upset with me leaving. That you were going to miss me and that you-you-”
That you love me and that you wanted me to stay. You shoved the thought out of your mind, slamming the door and turning the lock. Useless, lovestruck pipedreams would do you no good now.
“Instead you just pushed me out the door and it’s been nothing but empty letters from you since.”
“They weren’t empty.” Azriel said weakly. He’d never been a man of words or poetry, but in that moment he desperately wished he was. “And I did miss you. Y/n, I missed you so much some days it felt like I couldn’t breathe.”
You deflated, your anger slowly ebbing away like the ocean during low tide. Sometimes you forgot that beneath all those hard-won layers of shadow and muscle, Azriel was still that little boy that had been abandoned in a cellar and taught to believe he was worthless. A waste of time and a waste of space. Nothing more than an inconvenient bastard.
“Why didn’t you tell me? I thought you were all doing fine. That I’d come back and it would be like nothing had ever changed. I would’ve-I would’ve made time to visit. Or-or come back sooner.”
Azriel chuckled without humour. He had not been “doing fine” without you. He hadn’t been “doing fine” since the moment you’d stepped across the doorway and winnowed out of Velaris.
“You make it sound like I was going away forever.” You added softly.
“It felt like it.” Azriel admitted quietly, “I always worried there was a chance you’d decide you liked things better in Dawn. That you liked the people better. So when I saw you with Naemon I just…” His voice trailed off and he slowly backed up to your bed, sinking down into the pillowy comforter. Even the beds seemed softer and kinder here. Softer and kinder than him.
“I’m sorry.” He whispered.
He felt the bed dip beside him, your knee pressing against his in a burst of warmth. The blue tipped pleats of your dress slowly waved with his shadows as they once again curled around your feet, inching up your dress and closer and closer to your hands. Now that he was looking down he noticed the shoes you were wearing - cobalt blue with matching velvet ribbons tied up your calf. Same as your dress. Same as the ribbon in your hair.
“I wanted to believe you wore those colors for me tonight.” He said quietly, aching for your touch. Your hands were so close to his he could almost imagine that-
You covered his hands with your own, smoothing the rough skin with gentle caresses, “I did.”
It had seemed like such a stupidly hopeful choice at the time - some not-so-subtle declaration of love for all the months you’d spent apart - but when the seamstress had laid out all the dresses, you’d taken one look at the cobalt blue accents and the shoes and snatched them up in a heartbeat.
Azriel’s eyes were wider, more open, than the moon, shimmering with disbelief and hope, “You did?” He whispered.
“I did. They reminded me of you.” You stopped looking him in the eyes. It felt like too much. Too much emotion. Too much feeling. “I missed you too, you know.”
Azriel stayed quiet for a long while, sorting out the myriad of feelings roiling in his chest and trying to latch onto a single coherent thought. Finally he murmured, “I guess we could both work on saying things outright.”
You laughed softly, shaking your head and wiping at the corners of your eyes, “Yes. I guess we could.”
“We could start now.” Azriel offered hesitantly. His heart hammered away in his chest like a blacksmith at his anvil until he was sure his sternum would crack.
You raised your eyebrows. Curious.
“The next five minutes. We say everything honestly. No holding back.”
“I don’t know, Az. I-”
“Please.” He begged, holding onto your hands a little tighter. His shadows had traveled all the way up to your waist now, ghosting over flesh that he didn’t dare touch. He didn’t want to lose you. He’d thought he could handle being apart from you physically - that it would be no different from the decades he’d spent quietly loving you from right by your side - but he’d been horribly wrong. And he didn’t want to risk another, better male than Naemon coming to whisk you away before he had the chance to do things properly. To do things honestly.
His hands were shaking now, gripping your hands like you were the anchor to his ship trapped in raging waters, “I’ll start.”
“Ok.” You whispered, leaning a little closer.
Azriel swallowed and tried to stop the trembling in his hands and in his voice. In this he managed quite well, falling into a rigid, flat silence.
“I love you. I’ve loved you for years now, actually.” He dared to look at you. Your lips were parted in shock and he wished he could taste them, “Is that…is that ok?”
“Is that ok?” You repeated dumbly. “Is that ok?” You repeated a little louder, “Are you serious, Azriel?”
“Y-Yes?” He was trembling again, face open and terrified. He was offering you up his heart on a platter and praying to the Mother you wouldn’t crush it beneath those velvet blue shoes. Even if you did, he would find some solace in knowing you were the one to destroy him. He loved you so dearly that it was only within your right to do so.
Your lips broke in a stuttered smile, opening and closing like you didn’t quite know what to do. “I never thought I’d hear you say that. I’d hoped you might feel that way but I… I was never sure. I…” You cradled his face in your hands, tracing the curve of his jaw and his cheekbones with your fingertips, “I love you too, Azriel. I love you so much.” Your voice cracked, silver gathering in your eyes no matter how fiercely you tried to blink them away, “Gods, Az, you don’t even know.”
He gripped you close enough enough to bruise, arms locked around your waist and hands laid flat on your back. It was a sweet pain that grew even sweeter when you kissed him, searching for breath like you’d find it in his lungs. Azriel was just as desperate, ravenous even as he tugged at your clothes and flipped you flat on the bed. He wanted your lips again. You tasted like strawberries and cream, and he was starving.
He climbed on top, slotting himself between your legs as you yanked him close.
“Your hair,” You muttered, “It’s too neat.” The next minute was all teeth from Azriel as you mussed up his hair and he grinned wildly against your lips.
“Five-” He groaned, sinking further into you when you wrapped your legs around his waist, “Five minutes aren’t-” He propped himself up on his elbows, looking down at your flushed face as you gasped for breath and finally untangled your hands from his hair, “Five minutes aren’t up yet.”
“You’ve been keeping track?” You dropped your head back on the bed with a disgruntled hmph. Had he been counting the whole time he’d been kissing you?
He kissed your chest, then the sensitive skin of your neck. But there wasn’t any expectation in the brush of his lips, just quiet, honest love.
You raised your head, finding that Azriel once again looked scared. “There’s something else I need to tell you.” He said seriously. “Before… before anything else.”
You drew yourself onto your elbows, craning your neck for one more kiss, “You can tell me, Az. You can tell me anything.”
The bond sang in his chest like a songbird in a cage. It wanted to be released. To be acknowledged in words if it couldn’t be acknowledged through feeling at this moment. Because Azriel knew you didn’t feel it yet. You didn’t feel the burning he felt in his chest that made it hard to breathe when you weren’t around.
What if she doesn’t want this? What if she doesn’t want me? Azriel swallowed thickly, tears springing into his eyes. He wanted so desperately to be worthy of you - to be the kind and gentle lover and mate that you deserved. He’d been born crooked even before he’d been tossed into that cellar, before his half-brothers had set his hands on fire. But… but he was yours completely. He’d offer whatever meager, broken shards of himself that he could in hopes it might be enough.
“Az,” You whispered his name lovingly and slid a wayward curl behind his ear so gently he thought he might break apart into a million pieces, “Tell me. Please. Tell me.”
“You’re my mate.” He confessed.
The words hung in the air, unaccepted, unrejected, and you went preternaturally still.
He had no feathers to pluck out and present to you. But he had his shadows. You tipped your head curiously to the side when Azriel knelt on the ground, holding your hand in his.
“I don’t have any pure white feathers. I don’t even have a ring on me right now-”
“Az, you don’t need to-” You stilled when a shadow flickered down Azriel’s wrist onto yours. It was a small, delicate thing. Willful too. You could tell by the way it traveled confidently down your ring finger, curling there tastefully like a castle spire reaching towards the sky.
It hovered over your skin like mist hanging over wetlands. A proposal in and of itself.
“Yes.” You said before Azriel could open his mouth again. He hesitated, afraid to believe he’d heard you correctly, “Yes.”
“You don’t even know what I was going to say,” He teased weakly.
But this time you knew exactly what he meant, even if he didn’t say it out loud.
The bond burst to life in your chest as the shadow sank into your skin, settling there like a tattoo. Like a promise.
Azriel stumbled, actually stumbled, clenching at his chest at the wildness growing within him. He chased after you, hurtling down the bond and finding you wide open on the other side. You were anxious and surprised and so so so happy. So happy you felt like you might just die from it, and Azriel felt it all.
Hello, Y/n. He called out.
Hello, Azriel. You responded. My mate.
Azriel groaned, slamming his lips and his body against yours. You held steady as you always did, letting him press against you as if you could keep him there forever.
I am yours and you are mine. You gripped his hair again, feeling the silky strands caress your skin. With one smooth motion he pulled out the ribbon and started to undo the buttons of your dress.
Promise?
You grinned. Promise.

It was Thursday, which was media day in Qatar which meant that right now you were walking round the paddock in shorts and your Aston Martin Team top.
"Lance, hey are you okay?" You ask your team-mate. You'd known him since last year as the reserve driver for Aston Martin, Seb wanted you to take his place after retirement.
"Yeah, its just so hot. And Henry's still making me do training" he complains.
"I know but think we got the ice bath's later!" you grin excited to have the ice bath. After a hot day of training it was like a reward. So you did your ball exercises and you did a track run for the media team. Afterwards you were about to lay down on the track ground but it was blistering when you put your hand to it.
"Tires are gonna get shredded" you complain a little out of breath to Jessie your personal trainer.
"Can we go get water and smoothies now?" You ask and Sid one of the media guys who had followed you around today nods. You guys get out of the sun before running into the garage and collecting as many people's orders from the garage as you can.
You bring everyone back what they wanted on a tray. Sid filmed you the whole time, so he could upload it to the Tik-Tok saying that the new Aston Martin waitress is pretty cool. And another one joking that you can always fall back on waitressing if F1 falls through which you found hilarious.
"Okay, Lance Y/N. Ice bath time!" Mike Krack informs you both. You go into your driver room changing into your bikini that'd you'd brought with you. You pull the Aston Martin polo back over, feeling as though it would be odd to walk out the back of the motorhome in a bikini.
You see the cameras on you and immediately smile. You go up very close to the camera.
"Hi guys, i felt awkward coming out in just my bikini so Aston Martin Representation!" you whisper before stepping back and poking your thumbs at your top to show them what you were talking about, as if it wasn't obvious.
Looking to your left, Lando, Oscar, Alex and Logan were also all doing icebaths out the back of the motorhome too.
"Looking good boys" you shout after wolf whistling in their direction, they all laugh having finished their icebaths coming over to you and Lance.
"Come on" Alex gestures you towards the ice bath. You roll your eyes pulling the top over your head and passing it to Alex, he steps back looking at the other three boys who are shamelessly staring at you.
You were the current youngest on the grid. 21 years old, so Oscar, Logan and Lando all took a liking to you, not only because of the age similarities but because of your sense of humor.
"Ready Lance, you ask your team-mate whose shirt was just pulled off and handed to Mike who was helping the social media team.
"Lets make this interesting. First to fully submerge wins"
"That's not exactly fair your from Canada...okay your on" you shout and before anyone can blink your jumping into the ice bath. Your up to your thighs before you watch as Lance starts to sink down. Not even thinking about the cold you just force your whole body down. You can feel the cold all around your hair as it floats up and you can feel the cold water on your eyelids.
You come back up with a gasped breath before looking over at all of them.
"Who won, it was me right?" you say with your eyes blown wide as Lance emerges.
"Yes, but your fucking crazy" Lando laughs looking at the smile that comes across your face.
"Hahaha Suck that Stroll! I win" you say looking over at him.
"Ohhh you know what we should do" you say looking over at the camera that was still pointed at you.
"We should do a thirst trap of me, so people can edit me on TikTok!" you exclaim and Oscar chokes, while Logan and Land laugh as your started to lean back in the bath, running your hands through you hair.
"Y/N how many times have we talked about this" Your PR manager exclaims trying to stop the admins from filming.
"Oh come on its what they want!" You exclaim.
After that night, you went out for food, a healthy meal of course that Lance payed for as the looser of the bet.
Friday First Practice was good, you'd come in 4th just behind the two Ferrari's and Max.
Qualifying was just as good, you were starting in 4th next to Lewis, with George and Max ahead of you for Sunday's race and that was locked in. It was exhausting, you were boiling but you pushed. Lance was angry with the car performance and got angry at Henry, you were shocked to see and hear what happened when you were still driving and scolded Lance, before nearly fainting from being dizzy.
Again, you did the ice bath dinner and slept.
Now to focus on Saturdays sprint. You did well in the first two sprint shoot outs. But ended up retiring the car in Q3, starting in 9th position.
You were so faint for the whole race. Today, it was hotter than all the other days. Your fireproof felt more clingy to your skin than usual and the water in the car was heating up quicker than it normally did.
At one point during the sprint race the water was so disgusting to drink you actually spat it out in your helmet on reflex.
You finished in 8th gaining 1 point for the team who congratulated you. You stayed in the car as you pulled into the garage for a minute before you stripped of in the garage down to tank top and your underwear. You sat on the cold garage floor, head in your hands as you panted, looking for breath.
A team member brought an orange juice up to you, tapping you on the shoulder to which you shake there hand and thank them for the gesture.
You sip it slowly, not wanting to gag like you had before.
"How you doing sweetheart" Mike comes up to you, everyone in the garage had reported to him, how red and beat up you look coming out the car. You look at him and nod.
"It's always been harder for me" you laugh looking up at him wiping the sweat from your forehead before it falls down into your eye.
"What do you mean?" he asks crouching down so he's at a similar level to you.
"I mean, you've probably never checked my medical papers right. And women struggle with heat more than men anyway but my body doesn't regulate its temperate that well... so I've always struggled with being hot in the car but this is next level" you sigh to him.
"Are you going to be okay to race. We can get Drugovich to fill" Mike says concern filling his face as he can tell your struggling from the speech pattern and labored breathing.
"No i promise I'll be okay and I'll bring us home points" you smile.
I'm going to go congratulate Oscar on his Sprint win. You smile before holding you hand out for help. He helps you up and you trot over to Mclaren pulling the taller male into a hug the minute you see him.
"You did amazingly Ozzie" you grin, still holding onto him.
"Hey! I did well as well" Lando interrupts and you roll you eyes before turning to look at the man baby behind you.
"Yes yes, well done on P3 Lando Norris" you grin pulling him towards you and hugging him. He hugs you back before lifting you and squeezing you making you groan at the harshly shown affection that you were used too.
"How you feeling about tomorrow starting P4?"
"I'm hoping for a podium with my boys" you grin, pulling them both in, one arm round each of them.
"With us starting P6 and P10. I doubt that" Oscar groans, knowing he stuffed up Qualifying the other day, along with his team mate.
"Never say never. Tomorrow's going to be a hard race for everyone"
Sunday was the day that everyone struggled as you'd said.
Max actually ended up crashing out, and after coming back on the track, the car didn't have the pace it had from the start of the weekend.
"Come on Y/N, win in rookie season will look amazing. Keep holding. You've got Oscar behind 2.3 seconds gaining and Lando behind him. 3 laps left" you engineer inform.
"Guys the heat's really getting to me" you voice but its barley recognizable through the radio.
"Not long left, just push until the end" the engineer says but his voice waivers, he could tell you were struggling but unlike Logan who retired early on, lap 40 and with only three laps left there was no point especially when you were this close to a win.
"I - I know" you waiver, you control the car, speeding up trying to get this done as quickly as possible.
Martin Bundle - AND IN HER ROOKIE SEASON Y/N Y/L/N IS THE WINNER OF THE 2023 QATAR GRAND PRIX
"Guy's I need to get out this car now" you cry, tears forming in your eyes.
"Okay copy that"
"I cant move" you cry, the only thing that was able to move from your body was your hands which were shaking.
"We're sending pit crew to help" your engineer says. You see race marhsalls come up to your car, where Oscar and Land pull up alongside you. They both jump out hugging their team who were stood their waiting for them both. They turn to congratulate you thinking you'd be there next to them with the Aston Martin team but see you still sat in the car.
"Oh my god, she's shaking" Oscar says looking closer at you.
"She's in shock, from the heat" Lando says running over Oscar behind him.
"Y/N hey hey hey. Its okay its okay" Lando says flicking up your visor so he could see you. He honestly could have cried at the sight. He saw you looking so exhausted and out of it, the tears in you eyes and the sweat underneath them mixed.
"Come on baby lets get you out" Oscar voices, pulling Lando back by the shoulder and leaning down into the car, putting his arms under your knees and the other behind your back before lifting and pulling you out the car.
"Can we get a cold towel over here" Lando shouts which makes your head dizzy. Oscar sits you on the car wheel, pulling your helmet off, and then your balaclava. You were extremely red in the face but he still thought you were the prettiest girl he'd ever seen.
So did Lando, he had for a while, and he would always flirt with you when you were the reserve Aston Martin driver. But he cared for you, and seeing you like this pulled at his heart strings.
"You did so well today darling" he compliments. He pulls back your hair that was sticking to your face, doing it in a low bun so it wasn't tight but was out of your face and off your neck.
Lando unzips your race suit, pulling it down off your shoulders so your in your fireproof top before laying the cooling towel around you neck.
"Just breath" he smiles at you handing you and Oscar an icy bottle of water than was handed to him by his team. They got you to the cool down room where you sat on the floor with your back against the wall and your cheek resting on the cold marble.
"Great race guys. Said I'd have a podium with my... my boys" you smile, before you feel the urge to throw up. You get on your knees grabbing the bin before spilling the food you'd eaten before the race into the bin. Oscar sits next to you rubbing your back.
"Come on lets go get weighed" Lando sighs. Oscar goes first, the you and Lando watches the figure seeing you'd lost a whole 6 kilograms which meant that you'd lost 9 over the whole weekend. He, Oscar and Logan would all have to go out for a big meal to all put the weight back on.
The podium was amazing, first place and sharing a podium with Lando and Oscar had never felt better. It was a shorter podium as they wanted all of you to seek medical attention. You were eventually declared to have heatstroke and were forced on home rest in a nice a/c-ed room and lost of Peach Ice Tea's.
One thing for sure was you never wanted to race in Qatar as this time of the year again.

Little Champions
Pairing: Lewis Hamilton x Reader x Max Verstappen
Rating: PG
Warnings: None, just some good ole fluff
Words: 1.1K
Synopsis: It's just a normal morning in the Hamilton-Verstappen household
A/N: Yeahhhhh this was totally self indulgent
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You knew the moment your little one was up; it was hard not to tell when they were awake. The little patter of feet and a giggle had you smiling, but you knew you needed to pretend to still be sleeping.
"Papa," you hear the groan of your husband next to you and a body shift. A little giggle leaves your little one's mouth, and a little weight joins you in the bed.
"Mijn paardenbloem, you have to be quiet. Mommy is still sleeping." Max wraps his arm around his little girl and smiles, seeing the curls she inherited and the bright blue eyes that match him. "Papa, where's Daddy?" Sophie asks, looking around for her other father. "He's running, now, lay down and we can cuddle." You smile when you hear that, as Max hated being cuddled, but when it came to your baby girl,
"Yes!" She squeals, and Max chuckles as you hear bodies moving. After some time, it grows quiet, and you peek your eyes open, seeing the sleeping faces of Max and Sophie. Silently reaching over, you grab your phone and take a picture of them, sending it to your other partner and then climbing out of bed. Walking to their side, you lean over and kiss their cheeks, their nose twitching the same way.
Stepping out, you head to the kitchen to start on breakfast. Opening the window, you listen to the birds and smile at your little garden, which grows veggies and flowers. Sassy and Jimmy move around your feet but make sure not to trip you, as you can't see them now. "Woah," you giggle, feeling a little kick, and look down at your round stomach; about five months along, you touch where the baby kicked you. "Easy, little one," You tease and rub the area, feeling the baby kick you again.
Humming, you start cooking the eggs and sausage and cutting up some fruit for Max and Sophie when you gasp, feeling cold hands wrap around you. "Good morning," Shivering, you turn and stare at your gorgeous, sweaty husband. "Morning, Lewis." Lewis hums and kisses you gently, which makes you sigh. "Where are Max and Sophie?" He asks, and you nod your head towards the bedroom. "Knocked out, but this one here is kicking me," Lewis chuckles and steps forward, placing his hand on your round stomach.
"Yeah, just like Max. A fucking terror." You giggle, and Lewis smiles, bending down and kissing you right where they kick you. The kicking stops, and Lewis sighs, "I've got to take a shower," You nod and turn back to the fruit, Lewis walking into the bedroom. Tiptoeing into the room, Lewis smiles, seeing Max and Sophie curled up into one another. Leaning over, Lewis places a soft kiss on Max's temple and one on his daughter's cheek. "You smell," Lewis chuckles lowly, looking at bright blue eyes. "Yes, I was training." Max smiles, making no attempt to get up.
"It's the summer break, Lew, enjoy it." Lewis moves, fingers moving through the short strands of blonde hair. "Just makes me feel better; besides, I have much to think about." He whispers, and Max nods, understanding. It would be Lewis's last season with Mercedes, and the car still had trouble. "Anything I can help with?" Max was soft with his question; he knew Lewis liked to work things out alone. "No, baby, I'm leaving soon anyways," Max nods and sighs, Sophie moving closer, staring down at his daughter. Lewis thinks back to when he made the decision.
"Everything will be okay, Lewis, and we'll fight each other on track soon. You're not done." Lewis looks at Max, staring at their daughter and taking her in. "Also, I think she'd like it if Papa and Daddy were on the same podium again." That's why Lewis had to leave; Mercedes was putting more pressure on him, and he wanted to live closer to his family. Constantly flying back and forth from Britain to Monaco. At least with Ferrari, they won't bother him when he is home with family.
Lewis's phone rings and he groans; Max reaches behind him, grabs Lewis's phone, and sees it's Toto. "No, we're about to leave for vacation; he shouldn't even be calling you," Max grumbles, sitting up and pulling away when Lewis reaches for the phone. "Max, give me the phone." Max shakes his head no and swipes left, ending the annoying ringing. "Max," Lewis groans, squeezing the bridge of his nose. "Max, phone." Max shakes his head no and gets a look in his eyes.
Reaching over the bed, Max dodges it and lands on the other side, Sophie sitting up confused. "Max, come on. It's too early for this," Max chuckles and holds the phone up. "No, Lewis, you promised. No phones on the trip, and I see this as a work phone." Lewis leans on the bed, and Sophie giggles, thinking they are playing. "Daddy, play with me." Lewis looks up and chuckles, his baby girl's hair a mess. "Baby girl, your hair is a mess." Lewis chuckles, and Max takes the opportunity to bolt out of the room; Lewis moves but misses him and groans as Sophie laughs loudly.
"What are you doing?" you yell, but Max doesn't answer. He runs to his SIM room and slams the door shut. "Lewis?" Lewis carries Sophie out, who giggles and worms her way down, Lewis sits her down, and she runs after her Papa. "Papa! Open!" You hear the SIM door open and then giggle, and the door closes fast. "What is he doing?" "Hiding my work phone in the cat's toys again." He shrugs his shoulders and takes a bite of the fruit.
"You should stop bringing that phone into the house, Max hides it all the time." Lewis hums and takes a bite of his vegan pancakes. "I know, but it makes him and Sophie laugh, so it doesn't bother me." You smile, leaning over the best you can and kissing your husband. "Max, Sophie, breakfast!" Tiny feet and then heavier feet behind her as they come in, smiling brightly. She had his smile, which makes you and Lewis melt seeing it.
"Daddy, uppy?" Sophie gives big puppy eyes, and Lewis can't resist, so he picks her up and settles her in his lap. "Can I sit there too, Daddy," Lewis cuts a glare at Max, which makes you giggle, Sophie laughing only cause you are laughing. "Find you're own seat." Max pouts but sits down next to Lewis as you serve breakfast. Lewis and Max help Sophie eat, and she basks in being spoiled by her Papa and daddy.
Staring at your little family, you smile, touching your growing stomach with much love. Max looks up and smiles one of his toothy smiles, which makes you smile back. Yeah, you love your little family.

A person more than an athlete. Nika mühl x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love always had a way of consuming you. Whether it was your friendships, relationships with your parents, your friends, or even your romantic relationships, you felt the love in every part of your body. You loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
You were also a dedicated person. You gave your career all you had which in turn got you a championship in your freshman year.
Women's sports were trending, and you were on top of the pyramid. From sponsorship deals, to ads, interviews, and magazine shoots, you were everywhere. The spotlight didn't mean much to you though. All you cared about was the sleeping body next to you.
Nika was to you the prettiest girl in the world. For her you would absolutely do anything.
“ Good morning.” You whisper into her ear before you kiss her shoulder. “ Morning.” she responds, shifting to lay on her back.
You two start kissing. The kisses were short and sweet which left you needing much more. “ Baby I am gonna be late for class.” She says after pulling out.
“ But…” you start to protest before she cuts you off. “ Babe I still have to go all the way to my room, get ready and go to class. We will finish this later okay?” She says before getting out of bed. You sigh loudly as she wears her shirt and gets her stuff. “ I love you “ you say although what you say isn't clear because your face is hidden by a pillow. “ I love you too. I will see you in practice.” she says before she leaves.
The rest of the day went as usual. You got ready for class, which you attended. You then changed into your huskies' track suit and went to the gym.
You started out training all right. You did your activation, some shooting drills, lifted some weights and got some cardio done.
You didn't talk nika during all of this because coach geno sat you all down in the first session of the year and said. “ You all are UConn players now, you have a big legacy to follow. You need to focus, work hard and train hard, and while you are part of this team relationships with your teammates are absolutely forbidden.” However, you couldn't help but fall in love with the Croatian international, she captured your heart more than basketball everdid.
You thought something was up when the coach asked nika to go to his office for a chat but you didn't give it much thought instead you hung out with Paige and Kk. You didn't see nika leave because you were too busy learning a new dance with Paige.
“ Hey, can you give me a minute?” said the coach to you.
You then enter his office with an unsettling feeling in your stomach.
“What's up coach? “ you say as you dit opposite his desk.
“ Look, I am gonna be as straight with you as I was with nika. You heard what I said the very first time you came to this gym. And you know what is gonna happen now.”
“ Coach with all do respect you can't do this. We are good assets to this team and we have been performing well. We won a whole championship last year while being together.”
“ I'm afraid it is not up for questioning. You will terminate this relationship. You agreed to this when you first signed the contract with us. The contract stated that inter team relationships are forbidden. Plus Nina already agreed to it.”
You didn't know how you got out of that office or how you walked across campus to your dorm. All you knew was that Nika and you were done.
You opened your door, got in and sat on the floor as soon as you closed it. You started to uncontrollably sob. That's when you feel familiar hands wrap around you. Her smell and her touch were comforting.
“ I love you so much.” she whispered in your ear. You could feel her tears on your cheeks.
“ he said you agreed to the bullshit he said.” you say wiping your tears.
“ I couldn't not agree. If he cuts me from the team I am done. I have to go back home and all of this will be for nothing.”
“ We can keep it a secret again. I don't want to live without you.”
“ Baby, if he catches us again we can't come back from it. I love you so much baby but I can't.”
You kiss each other multiple times while holding one another on the floor of your dorm. Nika then leaves and you stay on the floor heartbroken for a long time.
You flipped a switch as soon as she left the door knowing that you aren't gonna wake up next to her, sleep next to her, kiss her, or be inside her.
The next day at training was miserable to say the least. You didn't sleep the night before, you didn't smile, or talk to anybody. Your performance displayed your sadness. You were missing easy shots, and you clearly weren't focused. You didnt talk to nika or look at her. You started like that for 2 weeks you didnt talk to anybody, all you thought about was how much you modded her touch.
“ baby please don't do this.” said nika to you one the way to practice. “ We need to talk.” she says before she pulled you into the medic’s room.
As soon as she closed the door, she pinned you to the wall and started kissing you. You missed the taste of her lips, the weight of her hands on your waist, the way her hands rubbed you sides and her tongue swiped across your.
“ i missed you so fucking much.” she says after pulling out.
“ I am not whole without you. I can't do anything without you. I missed you so much.” you say before kissing her again. You were hungry for her, you needed her more than anything in the world.
“ I don't like this without you. Would you please come back to me?.” she asks while swiping her thumb on your cheek.
“ if it cost me my life to be with you again.” you respond.
'I love you baby.’ she adds.
“ I love you more than you will ever know.” you respond.

Tumblr media
It actually takes a while for you to meet up with San and Wooyoung again. Why did nobody ever warn you as a kid that ‘schedule meetups with friends’ would be one of the most frustrating challenges you face in adulthood?
Even worse, it’s almost embarrassing how badly your neglected cooch complains about the lack of action. Your body has acclimatised to those intense orgasms real damn fast, and you’ve been so busy that there’s barely any opportunities for some proper self-care to tide you over.
You’re more than a little wired these days; so when a friend is forced to cancel plans at the last minute, it honestly comes as a relief rather than a disappointment. You indulge in the happy rush of an unexpected free evening, giving yourself a chance to relax, to fully relax — even if it will be without the assistance of two certain men. You’ll take what you can get.
You slip into the bedroom, mind set on your favourite vibrator; only to stop in your tracks when you hear a faint but unmistakable noise from the other apartment.
Huh.
Sounds like you might get a little assistance after all.
Quiet moans drift over from the other side of your shared wall, connecting to San’s own bedroom. It’s like your ears have been fine-tuned to their pleasure now, easily identifying Wooyoung’s muffled whines between San’s groans. An instant ache burns between your thighs, heat awakened by vivid memories.
You hesitate for a split-second, trained by old instincts to grab for your headphones and ignore those muted, lewd noises — until you remember that you don’t have to anymore. The guys made that clear enough.
(Wooyoung had been the one to bring the subject back up again, because of course he did. At first you assumed he was trying to fluster you; except that he actually looked disappointed when you admitted that no, you had never touched yourself to their overheard pleasure.
“Well, don’t deprive yourself next time, alright?” he told you with a playful wink.
“Woo, I think we’re supposed to keep it down next time,” San had pointed out, but stopped his chastising when he noticed the way you perked up at Wooyoung’s words. His smile had turned sly, “Or we won’t, I guess. Yeah, knock it out of the park, neighbour.”
Which is exactly what you plan to do now.)
You decide on manual labour, not wanting to risk San and Wooyoung hearing the buzzing from your toy. You make yourself comfortable in bed, wiggling out of your jeans and underwear as you lay back with your head against the pillow, legs propped up with ankles pressed against your ass to open yourself up. A testing graze through your folds confirms your suspicions of a growing wetness, but you still suck two fingers in your mouth for some extra help.
With your tongue curving around your fingers and saliva gathering rapidly, free hand fondling at your clothed breast, you close your eyes and focus on the intimate noises that you are privy to.
It’s mostly San that you can hear right now, if you’re not mistaken. His quiet moans mingle with hard breaths, an occasional shuddered whine. You shudder along with him, wondering what Wooyoung is doing to elicit those sounds.
It’s so easy now, to visualise how Wooyoung might be chocking on San’s cock, throat gagging around the thick girth. How his eyes tear up when his nose presses against San’s pelvis, against the light feathering of neatly maintained pubic hair. San’s muted noises would be all too understandable; you now know from first hand experience how gifted that damn mouth is.
His fingers might be tangled in Wooyoung’s hair to force him deeper, pulling at the red strands just the way Wooyoung likes. San would stare down at him with that heated intense gaze, brow knitted, his hips rocking into Wooyoung’s mouth.
Curiosity purrs inside you, wondering how close you are to the truth.
Maybe Wooyoung is sucking San off just how you pictured; but maybe San is on his knees instead, resting his arms on the bed as a pillow for his head, ass perked up in the air while Wooyoung spreads his cheeks to feast on him. Or maybe you are wrong entirely; maybe the reason you don’t hear Wooyoung anymore is because you’d misheard earlier and he isn’t even there. It could be just you and San, both taking matters into your own hands.
The endless possibilities spark your fantasies into overdrive, and you pop your glistening fingers out of your mouth with a quiet moan.
You work up another thick globule of spit to coat onto your already glossy fingertips, just to get yourself extra nice and sloppy; but some spills onto your chin, and you are forced to bite back another moan as it leaks down your jawline.
Already making a mess of yourself. You wonder what the guys would have to say about that.
Just the thought causes a sharp pulse in your abdomen. Would they tease you for how needy you are? San might suck the wet trail of saliva right off of you, leisurely tonguing at your heated skin. “Let us take care of that, baby,” Wooyoung might tell you, hands on your thighs as he keeps your legs spread and leans in close, slowly letting spit dribble down from his lips onto your aching cunt.
You can’t wait a moment longer and reach down, fingers clumsy with haste and arousal. You sigh at the contact with your sodden folds, the extra lubrication entirely unnecessary. You start off with slow swirls around your clit, building up the pressure while you continue to listen in.
San’s groans get a little louder, breathless and needy, and you bite down hard on your bottom lip to muffle a noise of your own.
Because you had weighed your options; to either shamelessly make your presence known, or stay unnoticed. You had decided on the latter, not wanting to intrude on their moment — though you can’t deny there also is a thrill to it for you.
It is almost like a little game; trying to keep silent, to not get caught. Luxuriating in every lewd noise that drifts your way, swallowing down your own.
Despite having San and Wooyoung’s consent, somehow the act of quietly listening in without their knowledge still feels a little taboo. A little perverted. You are hyperaware of the activity on the other side of the wall, while they have no awareness of you at all. And you have to be careful with the presses against your clit to keep it that way, slowly working yourself up.
There is some muted talk; so you hadn’t been mistaken earlier, Wooyoung is there. You can’t quite make out their words, but the tone hints at urgency.
They quiet down for a moment, then it is Wooyoung who gets noisier with those familiar, whiny moans. The bed creaks underneath them, growing louder and quicker, just as Wooyoung’s whines do. Now you feel a bit more confident in the truth of your fantasies; San thrusting into him with those brutal hips, fucking Wooyoung into a cockdumb daze.
Your body is ablaze, like you are in the room with them. You get lost in the images, in the memories, and start to forget yourself — forget that you are supposed to stay quiet. The heel of your hand presses against your clit as you push two fingers inside at once, but you let out a strangled whine of dissatisfaction, knowing either of their cocks would fill you up so much better.
(Fuck, had it only taken this little for them to ruin you?)
You keep up a steady pace, and use your free hand to rub at your clit for some much-needed relief. Again, it’s hard not to draw comparisons — between your fingers and Wooyoung’s mouth or his nose, it’s an easy choice which you prefer on your clit — but you do know exactly how to make yourself feel good, which patterns will lead you to that illusive edge your cunt is begging for.
Wooyoung’s whines are growing louder; he is as shameless as ever in his lack of restraint, only spurring you on to do the same. It’s like Wooyoung’s pleasure is tied to your own, pulling you along higher with his irresistible moans, evoking imagery of his mouth falling open, a thin trail of spit escaping past the corner of his lips as he claws at the bed-sheets, at San’s shoulders, at anything within reach.
You clamp around your fingers when Wooyoung’s voice breaks with a cried sob, and you break right with him. A desperate whimper falls past your lips as your hips buck up against your fingers, a sharp surge of heat searing right through you.
It is not the longest orgasm you’ve had, but it is intense; and a distinct silence greets you when you come down from your high, panting hard. The abrupt stop of noises from the other side of the wall can pretty much only mean one thing.
San and Wooyoung heard you.
Well. Fuck.
You groan when you realise that you’ve failed at your own self-imposed challenge. So much for staying unnoticed; you got caught with your hand right in the metaphorical cookie jar (the cookie jar being a metaphor for your cunt).
It’s not the end of the world, of course, since they did give you the go-ahead earlier. Still, the sudden silence causes a flash of self-consciousness, and for a split-second you worry that San and Wooyoung might have realised in this very moment that this type of voyeurism is not their thing after all.
But then there is some murmured talk, and a breathless laugh from Wooyoung eases the knot in your stomach. His laugh quickly turns into a another moan, desperate and whiny, and your tension fades completely.
You relax as the bed on the other side starts creaking again, even feeling a renewed throb of pleasure between your thighs, angling for attention. (“Greedy,” you can almost hear San’s voice purr in your ear, so pleased with your neediness. “Already that sweet cunt of yours is begging for a second round.”)
Now that they’re clued in on your presence, you expect Wooyoung and San to simply continue on. Maybe play it up a little; Wooyoung in particular seems like the type to deliberately put on a show. Maybe San will rile him up on purpose, pushing Wooyoung to the very limit for his benefit and yours.
What you do not expect, is for your phone to start buzzing.
“Fuck!” you hiss under your breath. You fling yourself upright, frantically wiping your hands on the sheets before you grab the phone from the nightstand, spitting muttered curses at the interruption. Who the fuck still calls these days? You are all ready to push it away — but you freeze at the name on display.
San.
You blink at your phone, struggling to comprehend the situation, still hearing the creaks and moans on the other side. You accept the call, and slowly lift your phone up to your ear.
“So, uh—”
But it is Wooyoung who interrupts you with a loud whimper; you hear it slightly echoed, one muffled through the wall, and one crystal clear through the phone. You shudder at the sound, thighs clenching.
“Hey Woo, having a nice night in?” you chuckle breathlessly, sitting back down on the bed. Your frustrations over getting caught are all but forgotten.
San says something in the background, and Wooyoung swallows down a moan. “H-hey. Is it okay that we’re calling? We can hang up right now, if you’d rather not.” Again, San speaks up, and something about his tone gives you the sense that he is passing instructions. Wooyoung breaths shakily, “We can pretend we didn’t hear you. Up to you. We’re — shit — we’re good either way. F-fuck, San…”
“No, it’s okay,” you hum, reaching a lazy hand back down to slide a finger through your soaked folds.
Wooyoung scoffs at something San tells him. “I was gonna ask her that anyway!” he says, huffy. “S-so, hngh, do you want to know what San is doing to me?”
“I have my suspicions,” you say with a light sigh, pressing a little firmer against your clit. Feeling a little bolder. “Is he fucking you, Wooyoung? Stuffing you full?”
“N-no. He — mmhh! — he’s in my lap. R-riding my cock. He’s— fuck, mhf—!”
That is all the information you get, the rest left up to your fantasies; Wooyoung chokes up with a strangled cry. The sound is only faintly echoed through the wall — but through the phone you can hear every tiny hitch of his breath, even the smallest whimpers transmitted directly into your ear.
But suddenly even those noises are muffled, replaced by a wet smacking noise of what you guess to be lips meeting in a feverish kiss. San groans into the phone, presumably sticking his tongue down Wooyoung’s throat in a sloppy make-out, swallowing every whine.
You breath picks up as you listen to them, the creaking of San’s bed slowing down while the wet noises of their mouths grow more frantic. Gasps and whines intermingle, including your own, and light-headedness starts to set in.
You blink out of a daze when the sounds break off and Wooyoung moans in frustration — but his voice through the phone becomes less distinct, and it is San whom you hear next.
“Hey, neighbour,” he says in a teasing, almost casual tone. His voice is strained, but shockingly composed for a man who is allegedly fucking himself on Wooyoung’s cock. “Thought you weren’t home today. Are we wearing you out already?”
The squeaky sounds from the bed continue, San’s breath growing raspier. The sound is like a distant rolling storm in your ears, and you bite back a quiet moan. “F-friend cancelled. Didn’t know you’d be home either. Sorry for interrupting.”
San lets out a husky chuckle. “Not at all,” he says, then grunts tightly. “Hmm, that’s it. Stay just like that for me, hm?”
You shallow thickly, your overactive imagination firing on all cylinders. Is San holding Wooyoung down; his phone in one hand and the other pinning Wooyoung’s wrists into the mattress? Or is he yanking at Wooyoung’s hair, forcing his head to tilt back? San might even have his hand on Wooyoung’s throat, squeezing ever so lightly. You can picture it so easily, with Wooyoung looking positively wrecked underneath San, tears streaked across his cheeks as he draws stifled breaths.
(San might be looking halfway wrecked himself, sweaty and flushed while his hips smoothly roll into Wooyoung’s lap.)
“Do you want to keep talking, or just listen?” San asks, and you need a moment to remember he’s speaking to you. You are an active participant now, no longer just an eavesdropper.
“Talk,” you admit breathlessly. San’s voice is husky from exertion, addictive to your eardrums. Earlier you had indulged in being unseen; but now you can’t bring yourself to part with him yet. “Please.”
San hums approvingly at your plea. “Did you cum yet, baby? Is that what we heard?”
“Y-yeah. Couldn’t help it, Wooyoung, he… ”
“Ahh, Wooyoungie…” San says fondly. “He never knows how to keep quiet either. Such pretty noises he makes, doesn’t he?” San’s praise draws out more of those exact pretty noises, a faint “Sannie…” floating in from the background. San gently shushes Wooyoung, and turns his attention back to you. “Want to cum again? I’ll help you out.”
The straightforward confidence of his offer already helps you along just fine, his cocky grin ghosting across your mind’s eye. “Fuck,” you sigh, fingers clenching around your phone. “Please, San.”
“Are you sitting or lying down?”
“Sat up to get my phone…”
He tsks. “That won’t do. Lay back down, phone on speaker.”
You do just so, sending a silent apology to your other neighbours. Sure, the guy living downstairs from San is always off on some business trip or another, but old Mrs. Yoon from the apartment underneath you is more of a homebody.
But she is quickly dispelled from your considerations when Wooyoung gets antsy while waiting, whining louder now that San’s focus is on you. He starts to babble in incoherent desperation, but he cries out as a resounding smack cuts him off, his whimpers slowly dying down.
“Don’t interrupt while I’m on the phone,” San tells him, coldly. “Sounds like you need a reminder. What are you, Wooyoung? Tell me now.”
Wooyoung chokes out a word that you can’t make out.
“That’s right,” San says coolly, satisfied by the quick response; but curiosity licks at your cunt with hungry urgency.
You settle down on the bed, phone by your ear as instructed. “W-what is he, San?”
San puts his own phone on speaker as well and the sound changes, picking up Wooyoung’s laboured gasps for air. “Tell her, Woo. Tell her what you are.”
“Just, nghh, just a fucktoy…”
“Exactly,” San coos, while heat flashes between your thighs at Wooyoung’s wretched voice. “And fucktoys should wait quietly for their turn. Now… baby, are you all settled for me?”
He’s talking to you again, you realise. “Y-yeah,” you moan, hands wandering down to your dripping cunt. “Help me cum, San. Please.”
“I’ll get you there, baby, don’t worry. I got you.” San had spoken coldly to Wooyoung, but now all the chill in his voice has evaporated, replaced by a silky warmth that wraps reassuringly around you. “Are you touching yourself? Tell me what you’re doing.”
“T-touching my clit…”
“Hm, good. What else?” His breathing is a little ragged, while Wooyoung’s tiny moans remain a steady constant in the periphery of your hearing. “Got your fingers inside that sweet cunt, stretching yourself out?”
You let out a soft whine, shaking your head until you remember San can’t see you. “I did earlier, but…”
“But?”
“Wasn’t enough… Wasn’t your cock…”
“Shit.” San groans hoarsely, a light shudder to his exhale. “Did I wreck you that quickly, baby? Won’t settle for anything less than my dick filling you up. Soon,” he rasps, “you’ll have me again soon. But for now, I need you to put in two fingers, alright? Don’t try for more; it will never feel as good as me burying my cock in that wet pussy like it belongs there, so don’t frustrate yourself. Just give a little extra attention to that needy clit and you’ll be just fine. You’re in good hands, promise.”
You follow orders with a hitched moan, thumb pressing down harder on the swollen nub. Already tension builds in your core, coiling tighter when the faint squeaking of San’s bed reaches your ear again, quiet enough to only be audible through the phone. Wooyoung hisses in response, struggling to stay still.
“Hear me move?” San asks, and you whine in confirmation. “Try to match me, alright?” He starts up a slow but steady pace, the sound of skin slapping against skin drifting through. “Fuck yourself on your fingers just like I’m fucking myself on this sweet little fucktoy.”
Wooyoung can’t help himself, whimpering at San’s words and growing louder with every jostle of the bed.
“I-I am, Sannie,” you whine, and somehow the slide of your fingers is more satisfying this time around, guided along by San’s own movements. You can easily picture those flexible hips swerving against Wooyoung’s lap, gradually picking up speed. “Feels, hmm, feels b-better now.”
“That’s it, that’s my good girl,” San praises, grunting lowly as he moves. “Still rubbing your clit? A little harder now. Just how you like it, make yourself feel good for me.”
Your back arches with a pitchy moan, toes curling into the sheets. After a moment of searching, your fingers manage to slip into that sweet spot, sparks jolting through your nerves as you whimper shakily.
“Right there,” San groans at your sudden increase in volume. “Don’t slow down now, keep at it right there. Mmmh, I bet you’re dripping, aren’t you? You’re always so fucking wet for us, making a mess. Fuck, can you hear her, Woo? Getting herself off at just the thought of us.”
You whine, almost a little embarrassed — except that San sounds so fucking pleased about it.
“W-wanna see…” Wooyoung croaks.
“Oh, I’m sure you want a whole lot more than that,” San says with a tight chuckle. “Wouldn’t be able to keep your hands to yourself, let alone your mouth. What about you, baby?” he asks you, the smooth purr of his voice raising the hairs in your neck. “What’d you like to do if you were here, not stuck on the other side of that damn wall?”
“W-watch. Just wanna watch,” you admit, completely earnest. For all the temptations of Wooyoung eating you out until you cry, or San fucking you into a stupor, you are entirely fixated on the noises you hear right now.
It’s just too powerful, the visual of San riding Wooyoung’s dick; how Wooyoung is at San’s mercy despite being balls deep inside him. Sobbing with every forceful snap of San’s hips, driving Wooyoung closer and closer to the brink. You imagine how San’s head is thrown back, brow knitted with concentration and pleasure as sweat beads on his tanned skin, Wooyoung’s nails clawing at his waist and ass. Did he cum yet? Or is he hard and aching, denying himself until he ensures Wooyoung is utterly ruined?
Somehow you can feel San’s grin through the phone, like he knows exactly what is flashing through your mind.
“Cute,” he murmurs. “Not in a greedy mood today, hm?”
Wrong. You are greedy. Hunger gnaws at your stomach, sharp and ravenous. You’d tear down that wall with your bare hands if you could, just for a glimpse. Your cunt twitches around your fingers at the fact that they’re so closeby, yet so far out of reach.
“Hm… Wooyoung?” San asks, and there seems to be a moment of non-verbal communication going on at their end. “Alright, baby. Thought of a little something that might help you out. Would you like that?”
“H-help me out?” you say, too dazed to comprehend.
“Yeah.” The complaints of San’s bed slow down until they stop completely. “Wooyoung is a great photographer, did you know?”
The daze lifts, comprehension dawns. “…Oh.”
“Is that a yes?”
“Fuck yes.”
A rustling sound comes through the line as San hands it over to Wooyoung (or so you assume). “Shit,” Wooyoung mumbles, “that’s so fucking hot,” and after a beat you get the notification of a sent photo.
You shakily clean your fingers on the sheets as you grab for your phone — and almost drop it on your face when the file opens.
Wooyoung hadn’t exaggerated; it is fucking hot.
He has kept San’s face carefully out of frame; it cuts off at the neck, barely high enough to catch a few of his freckles — but the rest of him is on full display. San has one hand loosely wrapped around his darkened cock, balls hanging heavy underneath and a beautiful thick glob of precum leaking from the tip, captured perfectly on camera. He lifted his other hand to rest on the back of his neck, showing off his broad chest. His skin glows with the glisten of sweat, begging to be licked off his dark nipples and tensed abs.
San is leaning back slightly in a way that has to be deliberate, his muscular thighs clenched as he cants his hips forward; lifting himself up just enough to give you a clear view of Wooyoung disappearing inside his tight hole.
You can’t breathe, eyes impossibly wide as you take in every detail — and then your phone buzzes again, a second photo sent your way.
“Wha—?”
The sound you make at the picture meets somewhere in-between a moan and a giggle; Wooyoung has sent you a fucking selfie.
He is giving the camera a cheeky wink, eyes heavy-lidded and a strain pulling at his lips. His face is flushed, eyebrow piercing glinting through the bangs of his mussed up hair. It’s starting to grow out; dark roots clearly visible and the vivid red hue fading to something a little softer, not quite pink-ish but heading there. He has his head tilted to the side to showcase a prominent hickey on his neck.
“You look like you’re having a good time, Wooyoung,” you try to tease, but it comes out breathless.
Wooyoung lets out a hoarse chuckle. “Well, you saw the view that I got here, right?”
You swipe back to the first image, and inhale sharply all over again at the sight. “San wasn’t kidding, you are a great photographer,” you murmur, admiring the flattering angle at which he caught San’s body, emphasising his impressive physique and mouth-watering proportions. You suspect it’s a challenge for San to take an unflattering photo, but Wooyoung certainly did him justice.
Wooyoung seems to agree with you. “Well, the model h-helps,” he says, ending on a sudden, hitched moan. The noise of lips wetly pressing against skin wafts through the phone, slowly getting louder as Wooyoung whimpers shakily. “Ngh, San…”
San groans in response, lavishing Wooyoung with heated attention for a moment longer, every moan prickling across your skin. “Give me that,” San eventually says. “I wanna talk to her again.”
Breath catches in your throat, anticipation setting you on edge.
“Hey neighbour,” he says, lowly. “Are you still touching yourself?”
“N-no, got distracted…” you admit.
He chuckles, a raspy sound that goes straight into your ear and your cunt. “That’s okay. But you still want to cum, right?” San hums in acknowledgement at your whiny moan. “Yeah, that’s what I thought. Then stop neglecting that poor clit, hm?”
You keep your eyes glued on your phone as you reach back down with one hand, sighing in relief at the contact with your slick folds.
“Let me hear those pretty moans,” San encourages, starting to move again, and you can’t even be sure if he’s talking to you or Wooyoung.
Either way, you obey him — you have no choice but to. Not when a downright pornographic soundscape flows forth from your phone; wet squelches and skin slapping against skin, San’s rough grunts and Wooyoung’s desperate keening. Within no time, you are back on the steady path to blissful release.
San swears under his breath. “C’mon. Are you gonna make me cum like the good little fucktoy you are?”
Wooyoung breathes with broken sobs, his tongue tripping over curses and wailing futilely as San rides him hard. San is unravelling himself too, panting roughly, biting back his moans. He is nearing that edge fast, and you are right with him — but neither of you are as fast as Wooyoung.
“Hm, hm, hm. Ah, S-Sannie, hmgh, f-fuck, fuck fuck, I won’t— I can’t— hnnn ah aHH—”
He cums with a pained, almost soundless cry; voice trapped in his choked-up throat. The strangled cry drives straight into your cunt, along with images of his convulsing body, trembling uncontrollably as he empties himself in San’s tight hole. It topples you right over, your own cries anything but silent. The hand holding your phone falls limply onto the bed, sparks shooting down all the way to your toes as your hips jerk into your fingers, chasing every cresting wave of pleasure.
The waves keep at you for what feels like forever, until they slowly begin to die down. You’re still gasping for air as you land softly from your high, accompanied by the sound of Wooyoung whimpering quietly, Together, you catch your breath.
“Haaa, hm, s-shit. ‘M sorry, San…” he sniffles, voice so hoarse it’s almost inaudible even over the phone.
San tuts coolly. “That’s disappointing.”
“F-fuck my mouth, I’ll make it up to you, I’ll make you cum so good, San, Sannie— let me touch— mghh—!”
A sharp slap reaches your ears. “Hands to yourself, Woo. You don’t get to touch my cock, that was the rule.”
“Then— then let me eat you out. Please, San, f-fuck…”
Wooyoung trails off into a quiet moan, just when you hear a faint squelch. San chuckles, humourless. “You like the sight of that, don’t you? Watching your own cum drip out of me. Look at that, it’s getting all over you.” Then he sighs, like he’s coming to a pained decision. “Alright, I’ll give you one last chance.”
There is a shifting sound, and Wooyoung makes a tired but excited noise that is quickly muffled.
“That’s it,” San says with a husky sigh. “Like that, yeah. Clean up your own mess, lap it all up for me. Make that mouth useful while I talk.” His voice comes closer to you again. “That sounded like a good one,” he hums, but you can hear the strained edge to him.
“It was,” you say, feeling a hazy giddiness in your post-orgasm bliss. “Sorry you didn’t get to cum yet.”
“Hmm, don’t worry about me. Wooyoung knows he has something to make up for,” San says. You can picture his grin, how his hand runs through those faded red locks as he yanks Wooyoung to exactly to where he wants, to suck every drop of seed out of his leaking hole. “Besides, you could help me out this time… if you’d like.”
It is an offer, but he puts it forth with complete confidence that he knows exactly what you’d like. And he is absolutely right.
You sigh contently, luxuriating in the soft exhaustion that is slowly dissolving your consciousness. “Yeah,” you murmur, and run a leisurely hand underneath your shirt, up to squeeze at your breast. Just a lazy touch, gently stoking the pleasure for a little longer while you keep San company. “Said I just wanted to watch you before, right? I… I changed my mind.”
San lets his moans slip more freely now, and his voice goes a little deeper at your admission. “Tell me, baby. Tell me what you want.”
You chew at your bottom lip, all your endless wants swirling around your head like spun cotton candy — until you finally settle on one to share. “Wooyoung isn’t allowed to touch your cock, but you can, right? Want you to touch yourself… and pretend it’s my mouth.”
“Fuck, baby…” You hear San spit in his hand before he wraps his fingers around his thick cock, groaning lowly.
“Want to suck you off so bad,” you say, playing up your moan just slightly as you pluck at one of your pebbled nipples. “Been on my mind for so long now. Wanna taste you…”
“W-while Wooyoung is tongue-fucking me?” San asks shakily, his steady composure breaking down. “Cleaning up his own mess so well. He doesn’t get as drunk on ass as he does on that sweet pussy of yours, but fuck… Doing such a good job, Woo…”
You can barely catch Wooyoung’s moan in response, muffled and covered by San’s sharp hiss.
“W-would like that very much, yeah,” you admit, wishing it was San’s mouth on your nipple instead of your fingers, “but…”
“‘But’?” he encourages, the word spoken tightly as though through gritted teeth.
“…I’d also like him to fuck me.”
San makes a sound that’s between a laugh and a whine. “Hm, s-so that is still on your mind, huh? Getting both of our cocks at once. Could you handle that, baby? Wooyoungie here can get pretty rough, he’d have you choking on my dick while your slick pussy gets wrecked by that pretty cock of his.” (Wooyoung lets out a garbled moan that seems to be agreement.)
You whimper at the thought. “W-wouldn’t mind that…”
“You wouldn’t?” San rasps, fresh excitement pouring into his heady aroused state. “Want me to fuck that tight throat until you gag on it, then?”
“Y-yeah… make me choke on it, San,” you say with a whine. “Cum in my mouth, wanna swallow it all down.”
“Fuck, but you really do love being a sweet cumdump for us,” he groans. “Such a good girl. Letting us fill you up from both ends, taking me down your throat while Wooyoung stuffs that pussy full.”
“Do it, do it.” You start to feel floaty again, carried away by your fantasies. “Fuck my face until I can’t breathe, I’d be so good to you, so good, swallow everything you give me I promise, give it to me. Sannie—”
San breaks.
You can’t be sure what pushed him over the edge; your babbling, Wooyoung’s tongue, or his own hand, but over the edge he is pushed, violently. He gasps and shudders, a throttled curse barely making it past his lips as he whines; a sound that could be pathetic if it wasn’t so fucking beautiful, a desperate release torn deep from his throat.
He recovers only slowly, with heavy grunts and huffs for breath. There is shifting sounds again — and you suspect San has slumped onto the bed, where you can faintly hear Wooyoung hum sweet praises at him, saying something about getting them both cleaned up. San groans in response, and there are more rustling sounds.
For a split-second you feel awkward and forgotten, unsure where you fit in next. But then Wooyoung has grabbed the phone, anchoring you back to him. “So… was that as good for you as it was for us?” he asks cheekily, and you fondly roll your eyes so hard you hope he can feel it through the phone.
“Pretty nice…” you say in a tired drawl, vaguely aware that eventually you will have to move again. Not right now, though.
Wooyoung just giggles. “Good. That was a nice surprise for us too.”
“’M glad,” you murmur. “Hey, um… those pictures,” you start, feeling a little awkward about bringing it up. “Should I delete those?”
“What?!” Wooyoung sounds outright offended at the notion. “Don’t you dare, that shot of San turned out way too good to throw out. Consider it a treat for you, that’s what hidden albums are for, right?”
Your lips curl into a light smile, touched by their trust in your discretion. “Thanks. Seriously though, it really is a great shot, you know,” you add on. “No joke, you know your angles.”
You don’t have to see Wooyoung to sense how he perks up at the praise. “You think so? I could show you some other stuff too, if you want,” he says excitedly. “I’ve been really getting into photography lately.”
“…Jung Wooyoung,” you say carefully, “are you offering to show me your nudes collection?”
He laughs, a sound you hear even through the wall. “No, no! Not all of them are like that! PG-13, these are PG-13, I swear! Still interested, or is it boring now?” he jokes, a grin in his voice.
Actually, that just makes you more curious. “No, I’m interested,” you say with a quiet laugh of your own.
“Hm… are you free tomorrow? We could grab some lunch together.”
His pro-activeness catches you off-guard, and you take a moment too long to respond.
“Hey, what’s with the hesitation? I’m a lot of fun to hang out with even with my clothes on, you know,” he huffs in faux-offence, making you giggle again.
“I don’t know, actually,” you point out. “But I suppose that just means I should give you a chance to prove it.”
“That’s the spirit! Lunch it is.”
“Without me?” San sulks tiredly, sounding like he’s on the brink of sleep.
“Aish, don’t pout, you get to see both of us plenty,” Wooyoung chides. “We’ll bring you some snacks over at work after, alright? I’ll buy you some nice gimbap or something, from that place you like.”
“Hmm alright,” San relents, mollified by the promise of food.
“So,” Wooyoung says to you. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Pick you up around one?”
“Yeah, that’s good. See you tomorrow,” you say with a small grin, already looking forward to it.
Tumblr media
Wooyoung had spoken the truth; he is a lot of fun even with his clothes on.
He takes you to a small place about halfway between your apartment and San’s work, rustic and cosy with a lot of dark woodwork and lush greenery. The staff enthusiastically greets Wooyoung by name, and he jokes with the kind, grandmotherly waitress who sweetly scolds him for staying away too long.
Soon enough there is a small feast of platters and bowls in front of you, heavenly smells wafting up to make your mouth water. Wooyoung ushers you to dig in, pushes his favourites, and you bask in culinary heaven with the rich kimchi stew, sticky fried chicken and good companionship.
Wooyoung is both an easy talker and easy to talk to. Idle small-talk fills the space between you until the sharp edge of your hunger has been sated, and Wooyoung pulls up his phone to showcase those promised photos.
You had not been sure what to expect.
Honestly, you just didn’t know Wooyoung well enough yet to know what ‘getting into photography’ means; whether it’s something he is actually serious about, or if you’d end up scrolling through a random assortment of goofy pictures of San.
Well. There are pictures of San — but they definitely are not random, nor goofy.
Instead, Wooyoung takes you through a series of gentle candid shots. They appear to be taken on the same day, just a quiet afternoon around the apartment. Sunlight strews into the living room, casting a soft glow around San’s form as he relaxes on the couch with Byeol in his lap. Every picture is taken with obvious care to capture how the light hits San’s features just right; the slight furrow of his brow, the pronounced cheekbones, or his pursed lips as he lovingly gazes down at Byeol, sleeping in his arms.
In the next photo he stares off into the distance, quiet and contemplative. It’s not like you’ve never seen San be quiet before; how he used to be quietly shy in the hallways — or the quiet intensity in the bedroom, wrapped up in authoritative focus. This is neither of those things; this is a peaceful, intimate quiet. Brought about by simply existing in the world with ease and comfort, next to a person he feels safe with.
You look up at Wooyoung, who is smiling at the photo on display with starry adoration in his eyes. He glances back at you when he notices you looking, his eyes still gleaming. “Well? What do you think?”
“They’re good, Woo,” you say earnestly. “You really capture him well. It’s like… really intimate? I love how soft he looks.”
He giggles at the praise, hiding his mouth behind his hand. “Ah wait, hang on,” he then says. “These aren’t the ones I really wanted to show you. Making San look good is easy, right? But these…”
A faint warmth heats your skin as you remember the last time Wooyoung made San look good on camera. He swipes through some pictures, slow enough to give you a quick look, but clearly focused on getting to the ones he’s looking for.
In the meanwhile, you glimpse at the other photos; there is one where Wooyoung caught San’s surprise at having the camera pointed at him, his eyes wide — but they sink into a crescent smile in the next frame, dimples and all. A few other people pass by; a beautiful young man with statuesque features stands out in particular, a birthmark on his temple that Wooyoung has taken great effort to highlight.
Then suddenly the people are gone from the screen, and Wooyoung hands you back his phone to scroll through at your own pace.
You blink at the abrupt shift from candids to urban photography.
Wooyoung favours cool colours and clean architectural lines, that much is clear from just a glance. They’re mostly shots from buildings and streets that you could see any day, just by walking outside. The first impression of it is almost a little underwhelming — until you take a moment to really look at his photos.
That is when you notice the subtle perspective of Wooyoung, how he carefully manages to catch all these ordinary, common places strewn through the city in a way that sheds new light on them, making you look at them differently. Finding beauty in mundanity, hidden right in plain sight. You smile gently when you note an affinity for train stations and railroads, the overhead lines contrasted against cool blue skies in intricate patterns; simple functionality, turned into art through Wooyoung’s lens.
You take another quick glance at him, and ‘nervous’ is not quite the right word to describe Wooyoung, but he is definitely more subdued than before, more focused on your reaction.
The love he pours in his candid shots is obvious, but Wooyoung seems to know those are easy crowd-pleasers. He does not have the same confidence in this area of his interest. (He really should, though.)
“I know this street,” you say, tapping the edge of his phone. “But… I didn’t know it looks like this. Does that make sense? I didn’t realise it’s this lovely. It’s like… like you notice the things others overlook, just because we see them every day. I love them, Woo.”
Wooyoung bites down a smile. “Really?” he asks, like he needs an extra nudge before he can absorb your words.
“Yeah, really,” you persuade him, a smile pulling at your lips at how he lights up.
It’s interesting; Wooyoung’s photographs show you how he sees the world around him, shifting your own perspective to match his — but the images also reflect back on him, shifting your perspective yet again. Like you are peeling back layers, seeing a Wooyoung who is not just brazen and flirty, but also thoughtful and appreciative.
“You’re really cool, you know,” Wooyoung says, between mouthfuls of fried chicken and rice. “I’m glad it’s you who walked in on San and me.”
You almost choke on the stew. There is that brazen Wooyoung back again. “Aren’t you a sweet-talker!” you wheeze, hitting your chest to recover. “Coming in with the flattery after I’ve said nice things about your photos, I see how this works.”
He laughs in protest. “I’m serious, you’re fun!”
“Even with my clothes on?” you grin, unable to resist teasing him about yesterday.
“Even with your clothes on, yes,” Wooyoung says, grinning right back at you. “What about me, hm?”
“Yeah, you’re fun too I guess,” you say with a dramatic sigh, like the admission only comes begrudgingly.
“Oh, I know,” Wooyoung says, biting his lip at you.
You give him a heavy side-eye. “…And kind of insufferable.”
He laughs again, that loud cackle that twists his whole face with contagious joy, and he claps his hands together in delight. “See? That’s what I mean. We’re having fun, right?”
“Well, I’m just happy to know I’m not intruding,” you tell him. “I’d hate to be overstepping on anything.”
“Intrude? On what?” Wooyoung asks, confused for a moment before he realises what you mean. “Wait, on me and San? No way.” He shakes his head. “Listen, I told you that I used to be in an open relationship, right? But— Hey, now don’t give me that look!” he laughs, though you didn’t realise you were giving him one. “I remember what you told us, I wasn’t thinking like that! I just mean, I’m happy to keep things more closed for San, but it did open up the conversation for other options, youknow. That we don’t have to be traditional about everything. And this thing with you, whatever label we do or don’t put on it, it seems to work out for everyone, right?”
“I believe the typical phrase people use is ‘friends with benefits’,” you point out.
This time, Wooyoung is the one making a face. “No, not into that. Any friendship with me comes with benefits. There are so many more perks other than just the bedroom stuff, you know that?”
“Hm… I might need convincing,” you say, keeping your voice deliberately aloof. “How about I take you up on that offer to cook for me and San. You said you wanted to, right? That might persuade me.”
Wooyoung rolls his eyes, but it can’t hide the obvious happy gleam. “Already abusing the privilege of my friendship, huh?”
“Oh, so now it’s not just a perk, it’s a privilege,” you tease. “That better be a damn impressive meal, Jung.”
But Wooyoung’s proof of his cooking skills will have to wait until later, and you first focus on finishing the food in front of you.
After lunch is eaten and gone, you rock-paper-scissors it out for the bill. Wooyoung takes the victory, and somehow he argues that means he has won the right to pay. And although you can’t find any indication that this restaurant usually serves food-to-go, you step out the doors with a generous serving of gimbap anyway, safely stored for travel.
Together you walk to San’s work. Wooyoung easily chats the time away, talking about the camera he’s saving up for, and thinking about what food he wants to cook, asking if you have any allergies.
Meanwhile, you look around you with a little more attention than usual. You try to see the streets like Wooyoung does, and actually find a lot of spots that you recognise from his photos. It dawns on you that he must take this route often, maybe walking San to work or dropping food off for him.
Soon you reach the taekwondo school where San teaches. It’s your first time here, but Wooyoung is greeted just as warmly as at the restaurant. He gets warned that San is in the middle of a class but that does not deter him; so you drop off the food just around the corner of a training room, where San is enthusiastically psyching up a tiny girl with even tinier pigtails to kick her target as high as she can.
You and Wooyoung can’t do much more than take a quick sneak peak at the lesson, but San catches sight of the two of you. He sends a bright smile in your direction, making a gesture of thanks when he notices the container.
Not wanting to disrupt the class, you and Wooyoung take that as your cue to give a quick wave and leave. Outside, you finally part ways for the day; him heading back to his own place, and you to yours.
But before you can get all the way back home, your phone buzzes with a notification. Wooyoung has sent you a picture.
Curious, you open the file — to find a candid of you that he must have sneakily taken during lunch. It’s a soft scene, enhanced by the rustic atmosphere of the restaurant. Your eyes shine brightly in the photo, filled with enjoyment of the tasty food; your smile is easy and sincere, relaxed in Wooyoung’s company.
You catch yourself smiling back at the photo, oddly touched to have become one of Wooyoung’s subjects. Then your phone buzzes again.
came out nice, right? isnt it good? 😇
You huff in amusement at the text, not surprised anymore at how blatantly he baits for a compliment. For all that Wooyoung loves being degraded, he sure has a hankering for that sweet, sweet praise too.
well im sure the model helped, you tease him, and chuckle fondly when he immediately replies with just a 😠 and nothing else.

The sound of tires on the road draws your attention from your hiding spot but when they skid to a stop you stay in your unseen position and sneak a look. You can never be too careful and staying hidden and quiet has been an essential part of your survival so far.
But all your rational thoughts drain and every muscle in your body coils tightly as you lay eyes on the man that steps out of the old truck.
Before anything else registers, you notice the way he moves. His long, thick legs carry him surely toward the nearest broken-down car and when he bends over to check the gas tank you get a glimpse of his ass in the tight jeans.
With a huff of frustration he straightens and walks toward another car, this one closer to you, and you can see the hard set of his jaw, his eyes much the same as they scan his surroundings.
You can’t stop your gaze from tracking down over his broad shoulders and wide chest.
Without remembering to keep quiet you shift to get a better look and accidentally knock into a rusty metal part, sending it careening down to the pavement with a loud clang.
His gun is out and cocked before you even register your error and with shaky hands you stand up and reveal yourself.
He locks eyes with you across the small space of separation and you have the satisfaction of watching his shoulders relax and his eyes slowly peruse you from head to toe. Perhaps it was merely to check if you were armed…or infected…or maybe he just wanted to look.
Either way, it sets your nerve ends tingling and when his gaze lingers, warmth races across your skin.
“I’m not a threat,” you say, squaring your shoulders but keeping your arms and hands high above your head.
He still doesn’t speak and keeps the gun trained on you, his expression wary.
“I promise. I’m just trying to get to Jackson.”
At the mention of Jackson, his eyes narrow and he steps closer. You don’t budge.
“How do I know you’re not infected?” he asks.
“Well, I’m all alone and have been for days. I’d let you check me out but we just met…usually I have a man at least take me out to dinner first.”
Your joke gets the opposite reaction you hoped for. His jaw clenches and his teeth grind under the pressure.
“I do need a ride though.”
You lower your hands, smoothing them over your hips and brushing the dust from your knees.
“That is, if you don’t mind me bumming one.”
Your hope starts to slip with his extended silence.
He finally drops the gun and pinches the bridge of his nose.
You slowly walk forward and extend your hand to introduce yourself. He stares at it for a moment before taking it in his larger one.
“Joel,” he rumbles.
“You wouldn’t leave a girl stranded, would you Joel?”
“Fine. Get movin’.”
You slide a glance across the console of the rattling old pick-up truck and watch him under the cover of your lashes. He hasn’t looked at you once since loading you into the vehicle, instead keeping his dark eyes glued to the road, jaw still tight with obvious tension.
You were sure you caught him giving you another once over when you bent down to sift through your bag but by the time you felt his stare and peeked his way he was muttering something incoherent and running a rough hand through his hair.
“So…” you start, turning his way slightly. “How long is the ride?”
He shoots you a look that says, “are you serious?”
“Shouldn’t take us more than a day.” He grinds his teeth, something you’ve come to notice he does often, and lifts his eyes to the rearview mirror. “Long as we don’t run inta any trouble.”
“I see…” You cross your legs, hoping to appear relaxed. “Maybe we’ll see something cool on the way.”
His bushy eyebrows shoot up to his hairline but he doesn’t grace you by meeting your eyes when he asks, “ever been to Wyoming?”
You’re surprised silence keeps you quiet for longer than you mean to be and you see his hands flex on the steering wheel.
“Sorry, I wasn’t expecting you to ask me any questions.”
He sends you an unamused look. “Ain’t one for much talkin’ these days.”
You nod in understanding but don’t hide your smile. “And no, I haven’t. But I’ve heard it’s beautiful.”
“What do you plan on doin’ when we get there?”
With a shrug you turn to look out the window, tracing your finger down a smear of dirt on the other side of the glass.
“Help out of course…and I was hoping I could do some planting. You know grow food…or something like that...breed animals…farm?”
Your thoughts trail off as you realize how silly and inadequate your plan sounds but you turn when you feel the heavy weight of his stare and realize he’s studying you.
“You know you should keep your eyes on the road,” you say with a half-hearted smile.
He stares for a beat longer before turning his attention back to driving.
“Yeah because there’s so many other cars out here.”
You gasp. “He makes a joke? Pull over, I think I’m feeling dizzy.”
He merely grunts in reply but you’re sure you catch the side of his mouth twitching with a smile.
“What do you plan on growin’? The weather can be pretty harsh in the winters.”
“Do you really want to know?”
He frowns at the windshield.
You let out a yielding sigh and start to rattle off a list.
“I dunno…I was thinking maybe…mangoes, bananas, pineapple! Oh kiwi!”
At his dark look you smile brightly to assure him you’re joking.
“Very funny.”
“About time you noticed.”
His gaze turns from the road back to you, raking down your body and back up to meet your face.
“Oh, I noticed sweetheart.”
The interior of the truck suddenly becomes too hot and you start to crack the window for some fresh cool air.
You try your best to settle into the seat and focus on the rush of the scenery, letting the tension filled silence stretch until he speaks again.
“What are you thinkin’ about over there?”
Unsure of where to take the conversation after that unexpected turn, you fall back on your humor.
“Kiwis..and mangoes and bananas..”
This time you see the corners of his eyes crinkle with a genuine smile and you cheer inwardly.
His hand relaxes on the steering wheel before tightening again, long fingers wrapping easily around the worn leather as he slowly slides along the curve, the action drawing your attention and holding it.
Tumblr media
His hands are big, dwarfing the wheel with rough and calloused fingers. Your thoughts quickly drift away from tropical fruits and fill with the fantasy of how it would feel if he touched your bare skin.
You seek the air from the window but find it too warm and gently press the back of your hand to your cheek. Your skin is hot and it does nothing to alleviate the feeling so you let your hand drift to the top buttons of your shirt and undo them, leaving the material agape.
When he shifts in the driver’s seat you try not too look. Try not to notice the way his legs are spread wide and his jeans pull tightly between them.
He turns and catches you staring, holding your gaze before his drops to your lips. The hot look in his eyes, the one that continues to dip and linger on your exposed neckline, is hard to ignore and your breath hitches.
Tumblr media
By the time you reach Jackson the air inside the truck is thick with tension and you throw the door open and take a deep inhale.
Tommy runs to greet Joel, his eyes shifting to you suspiciously. They talk in hushed voices, Joel standing with his head cocked, hands on hips and signature clenched jaw.
Tommy finally smiles your way and walks over to greet you. He’s handsome and much friendlier than Joel and you instantly feel welcome.
“I can’t believe you survived the whole ride with him,” Tommy jokes.
A laugh bubbles from your throat.
“I see you inherited all the charm and wit.”
Tommy’s smile widens and he casually throws an arm over your shoulder as he leads you into the town.
“I like her better than you already,” he shoots over his shoulder at Joel, who follows your steps with a scowl.
Tumblr media
After you get settled in your new place Joel comes to retrieve you for a bite to eat.
“Hungry?” he asks
“Starving actually.”
His dark eyes study you before he gestures toward the large bar/hall with an arm held out. You walk ahead and feel the press of his hand at your lower back as he reaches to open the door for you.
You lean into his touch and search the space, feeling slightly overwhelmed as several sets of unknown eyes turn to examine you.
Joel’s fingers splay at your back, sending tingles along your spine, then slide over to the curve of your waist. He pulls you into his side and walks you to an empty table.
“Don’t mind them,” he whispers. “They aren’t used to new people.”
You nod and miss his touch instantly as he releases you to pull out your chair. Your meal is eaten in relative silence but you don’t miss how his eyes drift to you at every opportunity.
“You know,” he starts, surprising you once again by speaking first, “if you need help building anythin’ for your plants…your mangoes, I can help.”
You giggle at his joke and lean in closer.
“Do you know a lot about farming?”
He pauses with the spoon half way to his mouth and the corner of his lips lift slightly.
“Enough.”
You let out a playful scoff. “That’s convincing.”
“I can definitely build you plant beds…”
“I’ll take any help I can get,” you say with a smile.
Tumblr media
The next week goes by in a blur of meeting new people and adjusting to new routines. You still can’t believe you’ve found a safe place to be. It may not last forever but for now you’re going to be nothing but grateful.
You seek Joel out regularly, stealing as much time with him as you can even if he remains quiet more often than not. He’s more talkative than before and always answers your questions, adding an occasional playful joke here or there, but seems to prefer the comfortable silence between the two of you.
It’s on one particularly warm and sunny morning that Joel scratches at the back of his neck, a feeling of anxiousness crawling over his skin. He tries to tamp down the twitch of alarm but it’s useless, the sense only growing stronger as more time passes.
Where did you say you’d be this morning?
He drops the tool from his hand and heads for the old barn shed, remembering your words about looking for some old planting equipment. He’s almost at the partially closed doors when he hears voices. At first he can’t make out the words since they are hushed but when he hears your clear, “no, move,” he pushes open the doors with a bang.
He enters the barn with his fingers digging into his palms and his breath coming in deep through his nose. Your eyes shoot wide when you see him and Jack, the man who has you cornered, follows your line of vision and steps back immediately.
“You ok sweetheart?” Joel asks through clenched teeth.
You look at Jack and narrow your eyes. “I am now.”
“We were just…” Jack starts.
Joel holds up his hand and steps closer to Jack. “If you ever have trouble understanding the word ‘no,’ again, I’ll be more than happy to explain what it means.”
Jack stiffens at Joel’s dangerous tone and warning words and with a barely perceptible nod he walks out without looking back.
Joel’s eyes follow him until he’s out of sight then he moves purposefully toward you with long strides.
“I’m sorry,” Joel says quietly. “Are you ok?”
“You’re sorry?” you repeat. “But…”
“I didn’t warn you. I shouldn’t have let him within ten feet of you.”
“Well you took care of it. I don’t think he’ll ever come near me again.”
“Better not,” he grits out. “Or he’ll have to deal with me.”
A small smile plays upon your lips and you take a step closer, resting your hands on his biceps.
“I should be thanking you.”
You stare up at him and in a move he never expects you lift your hands to his hair and slide them through his soft curls, pulling him down for a kiss.
For a moment you think he’s going to pull back but when your tempting curves mold to his body and you let out a soft moan he smooths one hand up your back and the other around your waist, tucking you into him as he deepens the kiss.
You whisper his name, brushing your lips to his and getting some air before you kiss him again. He walks backward until you hit the wooden wall behind you, his entire body slotted against yours so you can feel every inch of him.
“Fuck,” he groans out, maintaining intense eye contact when he traces your jaw with his thumb then gently sweeps it across your swollen lips.
“Been wantin’ to kiss you since the moment I laid eyes on you sweetheart,” he admits.
“Just kiss me?” you ask, trapping your bottom lip between your teeth.
He dips his head, his nose softly bumping yours as his lips hover above yours.
“No…not just…”
“JOEL?!”
At the sound of Tommy’s loud call Joel grumbles a curse and rests his forehead to yours. He reluctantly steps away but takes your hand in his and lifts it to his mouth, gently kissing your palm and then the curve of your fingertips.
He doesn’t say anything as he backs away and disappears between the doors with a tender release of your hand. You remain rooted in place, unable to do more than press your tingling fingers to your tingling lips.
When the rest of the day passes without any sign of Joel you start to worry you imagined the spark between you and maybe pushed him too far. Dinner time comes and goes and you still don’t see him but before you head to your small house to retire for the night you catch Tommy’s wife, Maria, outside and rush over to ask her if she’s seen Joel.
Her expression is somber before she answers.
“They left this morning,” she says quietly as she delicately rubs her belly.
“Left?”
Maria nods. “Trouble at the border. Tommy wouldn’t get into details but he seemed worried.”
You swallow thickly and thank her, letting her know to get you if she needs anything. Once you’re back inside your place you lean against the door and go over every interaction and every word, although few, between you and Joel.
Why didn’t he tell you and say goodbye? When would he be back? He had to come back…
Two full days pass with no sign of them. You linger at the window every morning and night, hoping to hear the distinct clop of hooves on the dirt.
It isn’t until midnight comes and goes and the clear sky is filled with twinkling bright stars that you’re awakened by the sound of a heavy knock at your door.
You startle from your sleeping spot on the couch and listen again, wondering if it’s your imagination.
Knock, knock.
“Sweetheart. It’s me. Let me in.”
You stand just beyond the threshold, your fingers hovering over the doorknob.
“Open the door for me darlin.’ I have to see you.”
The lock turns and very slowly the door opens.
You’re standing there in his flannel, barefoot and fragile.
“You’re back,” you state, your tone wary.
He waits for any sign of apprehension then brushes past you and spins around, taking you with him and bracing one large hand above your head to push the door closed with a click.
When he leans in closer and crowds you against the hard surface your lips part in awareness and his mouth grazes yours gently.
“I’m sorry I didn’t find you before I left.”
“Joel,” you start, shaking your head. “You don’t owe me any goodbyes…”
“But?” he adds.
“I was so worried…and I missed you.”
His fingers fall to the buttons of his shirt, slipping through the large openings at your waist and coasting over the front of your panties.
“Missed you too sweetheart. Been thinkin’ about how sweet those lips taste for the last two damn days.”
Without wasting another moment he brings his mouth down on yours, a low groan spilling from his throat. His hands cradle your face, his lips trailing along your jaw to your ear.
“Are you gonna let me find out if you’re sweet all over? he whispers.
Instead of answering, you thread your fingers through his hair and tug him down for another searing kiss. He presses you harder against the door and circles his hips so you can feel him hard along your stomach.
“You gonna give me a nice little taste darlin’?”
Your fingernails lightly drag down his chest, watching as his eyes darken and the muscles in his throat work over his hard swallow.
When your hands fall to the first closed button of his shirt, the one you’re still wearing, he groans and let’s his gaze fall to track the movement. You slowly unbutton it and drag a finger down, parting the fabric until you reach the next button and do the same, inch by inch exposing your bare skin.
“Fuck sweetheart, you’re drivin’ me outta my goddamn mind.”

Phantom's number 1 Fan. Part 2
Tim wakes a few days later, half submerged in liquid and hooked to various machines. He is in a tub shaped like a bed, obviously meant to sleep in. Around him is what he hopes is a hospital room with medical tools scattered about and soft blue paint that turns to the night sky the higher it goes on the wall.
On the ceiling are paintings of various constellations. It's rather beautiful.
Tim also notices he feels no pain. None. Not even the aches of his bones after years of abuse while fighting crime. He thinks that's a bit strange since the last thing he could clearly remember was barely escaping Ra's al Ghul, losing his spleen, and gaining more wounds from angry assassins on his way out.
He had been flying half-blind, blinking in and out of awareness. He thinks at one point, Cassie had attempted to call him, and he may have answered, but for the life of him, he couldn't remember what he told her.
He did remember what she said in response. She sounded so desperate as she begged over the S-Batplane speakers. "Please, Tim, you're not well. Let us help you. Just tell me where you are."
Too bad for her, since the S in S-Batplane stand for Secert because Tim had built that one on his own in Secert. There was no way she or any of the hero community could track him in it since they had no idea it existed until Tim had taken it and his supplies on his solo mission to save Bruce.
Tim will admit that he is happy they noticed he went missing- even if it was three months too late. Not that it mattered much. The rest of the Bats wanted nothing to do with him. The world only saw him as a young easy wallet as a shiny new CEO. And his friends were all dead or convinced he was insane by Dick.
Tim didn't have anyone to notice he was gone anymore. But Bruce needed him to push through the ache and get him home.
As the Robin who Bruce trained to put the mission first no matter the cost, the one that came after Jason's death so, Bruce stopped allowing himself to think of Robin as a son and more along the lines of a soldier; he quickly shut down the crying child that wailed for someone to believe him, to support him.
Sometimes it felt like Tim was still waiting by the door of Drake Manor, waiting for someone to come and care for him, to stay for him.
The door to his room opens, snapping Tim back to the present. He automatically stiffens, expecting more of the League of Assassins. He can't remember much, but he guessed he was captured by the fact he was sitting in a green glowing water.
He was not, however, expecting a Yeti to walk in, reading a clipboard.
The Yeti looks up, bearing its teeth at Tim when he notices him awake. It takes a moment to realize the action is supposed to be a smile. "Great One's Honored Guest, I am so glad you have awakened. I am FrostBite, your doctor for the remainder of your recovery."
Okay. Ra's has Yetis at his disposal.
He was the only person that Tim knew as the "Great One." Usually, his most loyal operatives too, which means he was deep within Ra's territory.
FrostBrite pauses for a response, but when Tim remains silent, he holds up his board. "It seems to me that most of your wounds have healed. The only problem is that your spleen could not be salvaged due to the damage."
Tim fights to keep the despair off his face. He figured that was the case, seeing as Ras's had it in a jar, but he had hoped.
"...I understand this may be a difficult adjustment. You will always have to be careful when being ill. Even a simple cold could be disastrous." Frostbite steps close, taping one giant claw on the tub's edge. "The Great One has ordered we keep consistent Ecoplasm Baths at the ready for the remainder of your natural life."
Fuck. The Yeti is saying Ra will never let him leave again. It's a threat disguised as a offer of help.
Tim glares down at his hands. They lay within Lazarus' water, gently healing his small scars. This must be some of the purest Lazarus he's ever seen. It must be Ra's own special blend.
The only reason he is wasting it on Tim is that Ra's wants an heir from him. Or for him to become the Heir. He doesn't know, which makes him feel worse but he does know what lust looks like.
It's one that Ra's has aimed at him for too long.
He may as well get this over with. Learn as much as he can. Plan an escape. The best way to do all that is to simply ask.
"When is the wedding?"
Frostbite freezes. "I beg your pardon? Whos wedding?"
"Th Great One and mine" because the madman would never allow a bastard to inherit his empire.
"You and the Great One....are paramours?" Frostbite sounds awe. Shoot his medic doesn't know anything. The Yeti is likely low ranking.
Tim looks away, and the giant white creature jerks into action. "I apologize for not treating the Great One's beloved properly. I shall have servants bring up a meal while you soak. And the finest robe we have! Sweets and messages....offers of gold?....humans always like gold."
He waits until the Yeti leaves, mumbles of giving him the royal treatment echoing in his wake. Tim sighs, sinking into the water. He knows he is being watched as that's what he would do, so for now he needs to stay put and heal.
He's never going to get Bruce back if he acts too rashly without knowing where he is and what else Ra has under his control. Yetis were no easy feat to beat on his own. He like to avoid....a vampire or something too.
Half an hour later, FrostBite returns with the promised meal and change of clothes. Smaller Yetis help him dress in threads of the finest silks. They feel like heaven on his sensitive skin. Tim feels soft and warm all over, pampered beyond belief.
It's been so long since he just had a moment to rest.
He asks for a walk which he is only permitted after Frostbites clears him. It's while he is wandering that he realizes he is in some winter castle. Everywhere he looks, there is ice, snow, and yetis.
He notices all the guards and makes mental maps of possible weak spots. He wonders why he's not freezing despite only being in a thin silk robe. A form of magic?
A few yetis- servants he can tell by their mannerisms- bow as he wanders about. He can't tell where he is based on the sun or the environment. It's....somehow different.
"That's him?" A young female voice asks. He turns his head slightly to catch the speaker in his provisional vision. It's one of the smaller Yetis....he assumes she's a child? Hard to tell when she still towers over him. "The Great One's future spouse?"
"Yes, I heard King Frostbite, himself, tell the Head Butler"
"He's weak," another Yeti says with disapproval. He sounds male but young as well. Not even a teenager. "He does not even have a core."
"He is a human." A much older voice replies. She sounds like Tim's age based on vocal cords. "Humans are not meant to have cores. Despite this he is a formidable fighter. He has to be to have attracted the Great One's eye."
"Maybe not. I heard humans enjoy being cared for like children. They even call partners things like Mommy and Daddy."
"Why?" The boy Yeti sounds horrified.
"Apparently it's seen as attractive"
"That's disgusting."
Tim turns a corner cutting off the conversation as the Yetis snap to attention. They bow low at the waist as he walks by.
He nods at them, which seems to startle a lot of them. Not that he's surprised. The AL Ghuls likely treated them like decorations and never fully acknowledged them.
Tim barely hears the young boy gasp. "He's beautiful."
"That's likely why the Great One is so bestowed."
Tim sighs walking back to his room with a escape plan half formed.
Elsewhere, the rumor mill in the Ghost Zone is running over time as news of King Phantom's human husband-to-be is spread far and wide. Leaders of the Ghost Zone quickly prepare for a ball that will likely be called to celebrate the union.
They have gifts gathered, each wanting to gain favor with the King. The Far Frozen gets overwhelming requests to visit the future Consort, but seeing as King Phantom had to return to the human world, thus leaving his fiancé in their care, they reject all. They do not want the boy to be overwhelmed or caught unawares if he is not tried in any form of politics.
It would not allow him to become a threat to the King's authority's pawn.
This led to even more rumors starting.
By the time they reached John Constine- the only human who has any form of contact with the Realms- the word is that King Phantom's human was currently carrying their child, wanting to marry before the baby was born, and that he was running from a group of humans known as "The Bats."
He was as beautiful as the King Phantom was powerful- which meant he was utterly breathtaking for a human- and that King Phantom was currently in the human world hunting down those who threaten his family.
Across the dimension plane, Danny is blissfully unaware of the misunderstanding as he is busy filling out college scholarship applications. He has only one more year before he graduates, but he would like to go somewhere away from Amity Park.
The Wayne Scholarship is a long and lengthy process, but it will be worth it. A full ride with board and meals? Yes, the housing will be in Gotham but it's a small price to pay.
He wonders if his number one fan has awakened. Frostbite would have contacted him if his guest had escaped the coma.
Tim Drake had been asleep for nearly a week, only kept healthy due to Danny bathing him in his Protective Core ectoplasm and the Yeti's multi-species medical knowledge. As it were, Tim appeared to only be taking a small nap, none of the adverse effects of long slumber appearing on his thin body, but Danny was getting worried.
At this point, he didn't even care how Tim knew his secret. He just wanted him to be alright.
A flash of green light causes Danny to spring away from his laptop, body falling into a natural fighter's stance only to blink at the giant gift wrap present laying on his bed. Cautiously he inspects the gift finding it from Princess Dora.
"May your love lead the Realms into a wonderous future, and may your union bear many children." He reads the small note she had attracted to her gift "What children?"
Pulling open the gift, he stares at two sets of King robes decorated with rubies shaped into snowflakes. More miniature robes and a few booties surround the pair, obviously meant as a family gift.
Tuck to the side of the box is a long and deadly-looking sword. It's pitch black, with a scull as a handle. Dora had tired a scroll to its blade, where she had written My armies are ready to yield to you. You need only to swing this sword, and they shall come to your aid. The Bats will not harm your treasure.
What in the world?

I find it very interesting that Tim Minear told an interviewer that they are “basically laying down the train tracks on 911 while the train is still moving”. And then he further added that they’re still “in the middle of writing episodes 8-10” which are literally set to air next month. So what this tells me is that they are definitely waiting to gauge general audience reactions for the storylines they have leading up to the small hiatus. Because the hiatus gives them plenty of time to rewrite anything that might not be accepted positively or double down and perfect their initial ideas.
Now what I find a little suspicious is that Tim is a calculated person. We know that he called Oliver ahead of his current storyline and talked to him about what his plans were for Buck, which was his sexuality storyline. Now isn’t it strange how another person on the show, Ryan Guzman, seems so happy and keeps assuring in all his interviews that the writers take into consideration feedback from fans and are going to give us what we want? All the interviews he’s done with Oliver, just give off vibes that they both know something we don’t know. So why would Ryan be so confident in what the writers are writing when according to Tim, they still don’t have anything concrete written for the last three episodes of the season? Unless…unless Tim has also called up Ryan and expressed what his plans are for his character’s storyline for the season. Maybe it was even a joint call of some sort to let both Ryan and Oliver know that he perhaps has plans to get the ball rolling for bringing Buddie together romantically. And what way to do that is by dipping his toe in first with Buck’s storyline with Tommy to see how the general audience reacts to the possibility of Buck dating a man.
Meanwhile Tim has also shown how strong Buck and Eddie are as a family unit with Christopher in episode 7.01. So whatever happens in 7.05 before the hiatus, it’s likely to arise some questions for viewers. And while sifting through the comments and feedback, it’ll help Tim make up his mind on how to finish off this season. Which means it can very possibly end with a big confirmation that Buddie is happening come season 8.
I just think with Tim sharing so many Buddie stills to his personal Facebook page before the season even aired, choosing that specific Buckley Diaz family moment in 7.01, and confirming that they don’t have plans for Buddie “right now” doesn’t confirm it’s not happening. On the contrary, I think he’s literally waiting and watching how the public reacts before coming up with a concrete plan on when it is time to make it happen. Everything he’s done and said just seems so deliberate in my honest opinion.
And both Ryan and Oliver’s behavior also seem very deliberate and I can go on and on about that as well but I’ll just say they’re behaving very differently this season overall than any other season. I mean just look at how often Oliver shares Ryan on his stories. And how quickly Ryan shares 911 content and pictures taken by Oliver to his stories. This has never been the case between these two in all 6 years they’ve worked together. All that aside, choosing both of them to interview together, discuss their storylines and promote together was a definite choice made by whoever is in charge. So why those two specifically when it could’ve been any other 911 cast member? Peter and Angela had a three episode arc and we didn’t get a single joint interview together. We know JLH and Kenny have a big wedding storyline coming up and have yet to get a single joint interview with them. Aisha and Tracie have a storyline coming up about them adding to their family and we don’t have any interviews with them. But we also don’t have any interviews with just like Kenny and Aisha since they also play best friends on the show. Like all these decisions that were made ahead of this season are very suspicious to me especially when you consider literally everything else that’s been said by Tim and both Ryan and Oliver. So I guess take what you will with all this information but I’m just very suspicious about everything that’s going on.

CW: description of family death, ptsd, stalking, harassment, obsession. Written in the third person. Use of Y/N. Y/N acts as a mom/sister to the four teens. This mostly establishes her relationship with other characters.
Spoilers for Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse.
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ not quite sure how i feel about this one Ꮚ≡д≡Ꮚ it's very filler-y and explaining some of the mental process Y/N went through, but it's okay! it's a stepping stone to miguel confessing! we'll get there! ✩ᏊꈍꈊꈍᏊ the new updates tag is also #୨♡୧ gothic updates because of the font i'm using for the titles!

Y/N wondered what it was like. When her brother leapt to save the child from a falling building, he refused to look at her. They hadn't spoken in years, estranged because they lost sight of when they were kids. Separated by family politics. They hadn't spoken in years. And he knew Y/N was Spider-Woman. He knew, and when she tried to stop him, he just...tore away. Said he wasn't a child, said that he didn't need her help.
He, very evidently, did.
Y/N didn't get the chance to see his body. He was carted away too soon, and the child was rushed into her arms, a little thing sobbing.
That day, Y/N found out she had a soft spot for kids.
Y/N previously had lived her life as normally as possible. She worked as a manager for some joint she never really cared for and did her job as Spider-Woman as quickly as possible. It became a running joke that she never really 'cared'. Well, duh, she cared, or else she wouldn't do it, but she was quite...lackadaisical. Nothing so jarring human death had occurred to her aside from her uncle's death, but it was far easier to get over him. She found out six hours later that this was something called a 'canon event'; things that are impossible to stop, like earth-shattering trains. All you could do was lay on the tracks as comfortable as possible. The woman that told her was good. Beautiful. Heavily pregnant. Surprisingly quick on her feet for being (aforementionedly) pregnant. And she said she was Spider-Woman, too. It took a second for Y/N to process it. But the woman, Jess, was cool, and to be frank, Y/N wasn't too worried. And Jess talked to her about what was effectively an army of Spider-Men, trying to stop anomalies. She asked if Y/N was interested.
It's not like Spider-Woman 7290 had anything better to do, anyway.
The watches were weird, Y/N would admit that. And the tower was like a temptation stairway, to just get lost in and never be found again. The other spiders were kind, waving hello and offering sympathies for her brother. One, a Spider-Moth, kept on bumping into her. It was...funny, to say the least. All had, to some degree, accepted their fates as Spider-Men and Women and Things and Animals and Beasts and everything she could possibly imagine. There was a car, of all things. It was...delightfully absurd, after observing such a hellscape as her brother's death. She was still in her torn Spider-Suit, still bruised with the dirt-marked tear stains down her face. She tried rubbing away what she could, but when Jess shot her a look of concern, she stopped. She didn't need pity. She didn't need worry. She was Spider-Woman. She could do it on her own.
She, very evidently, could not.
Y/N realised that when she saw Miguel. He was massive, built like a brick wall and an upside down triangle with a stare that felt like he was prying her apart at the seams. She tried to match it, but nothing quite felt as harsh as his stare. He seemed downright villainous. If that thing was chasing her, she would've screamed. Y/N was glad he was on the good guy's side. Jess introduced her, and Y/N felt lucky that she was so confident. Spider-Woman 7290 felt like she was shrinking under Spider-Man 2099's gaze. She wanted to run, as stupid as it sounded. Every sense except her spidersense was lighting up, telling her to bolt. The introduction felt like it lasted forever, with how Miguel didn't say a word. And to be frank...it kind of pissed her off. She'd already been through so much that same day. Why did she have to deal with this guy?
"Spider-Woman, from Earth 7290. Also known as Y/N."
Jess said it so matter-of-factly, and Y/N made it a point to look Miguel in the eye. Despite the cold terror that gripped her, she was not going to back down. Who was this guy, even? He reminded her of how her brother was over-confident. Maybe this guy had the past to back it up, but Y/N didn't know that.
And he just stared.
Y/N and Jess shared a look, and Jess put a hand to her shoulder. There was another beat of silence, before Jess cleared her throat. "Miguel? Are you listening?" Miguel seemed to jump, not physically, but mentally, snapping out of whatever haze he was in. He waved a hand, looking away. "Yeah. Sure. Ger her a watch." That wasn't even what Jess had been talking about, and the two women shared a glanced before Y/N looked to Miguel one last time. And he stared at her, as though she were a ghost.
Whatever. Guy was weird. Leave it to a superhero to be weird. He had enough on his plate to let him be a little weird.
Y/N got comfortable in the Spider-Society. She thought it was a stupid name, and she came off a little meaner than most of the other Spiders, but everyone had such similar experiences that it was easy to talk. Pav and Hobie became fast favourites-kids who got dropped in too fast, too soon, and could use some help from someone who gave a damn. Pav didn't seem to quite get it yet, but Hobie did, and Y/N found it easier to try and talk to the two of them than anyone else. Soft spot for kids. More like a soft black hole where if it wasn't those two, she didn't care. Then Gwen showed up, and poor girl needed someone to look after her. Jess cared, clearly, but Gwen needed someone who wasn't so preoccupied with saving the multiverse. Whenever she caught Gwen crying over her father, there was a little bit of rage that built up, because who treats their child like that? What kind of nightmare did Gwen have to go through?
The three started tailing her, following her around. And against all reason...she liked it.
She began prioritising helping them. Jess told her multiple times that they needed to do their own thing, but they were kids. She was about to have a kid! Y/N didn't understand Jess's reasoning all too well, but she wasn't upset, either. Everyone did their own thing. In this case, her thing was taking care of the kids that needed adult supervision. This also meant she had three extra pairs of eyes looking out for her.
Hobie was the first one to notice Miguel. The two of you were out, handing an anomaly (a rogue Doc Ock), when the teen shot you a look. "On your six," He shrugged. "Guess he wanted to watch." Y/N never spun around so fast in her life. She got the barest glance of his neon webs, but nothing more. And the discomfort in her gut began to grow. Pav was next, far less casual about it and positively gushing about it. He thought it was cute, how Miguel 'watched over you'. Something, something, romantic tension. But he went quiet after Y/N said she'd only spoken to Miguel a handful of times. That day, the discomfort was shared.
Little things began to shift around her apartment. Groceries replenished themselves. A Vulture was found beaten so bloody that he turned himself into the hospital, speaking about a Spider that very much wasn't Y/N. Once, her clothes had been washed, folded, and placed on her bed. And Y/N could put up with all of it, if it was just her. But Gwen would stay with her, usually, if she wasn't visiting Hobie or Jess. The apartment was small, but when Gwen walked into the guest bedroom and saw it was tidied up while the two were out, Y/N knew it was an issue. Why Miguel would do something like this was beyond her. He had so much more to take care of than to harass some Spider that he'd only spoken to...what? Four? Five times? Y/N was angry. Couldn't she just live her life? She just wanted to help the kids, beat the bad guys, and go home to relax. Was that a crime? She'd barely looked at him, even. Granted, it was partially because he was still scary as hell. Was he handsome? Sure. But he was so serious all the damn time, and there was the rumour about his dead wife, so Y/N was just pissed.
But whatever. She could put up with it for a while. Just until the next anomaly was figured out: some guy named the Spot.
She'd talked to Jess about putting Gwen on the job. Begged, even. Gwen needed a big break, something for her ego, and Y/N figured some villain of the week ought to do it.
That, evidently, didn't do it.
The situation spun out of hand. Y/N blamed herself, begged Jess to give Gwen some leniency. And thank god, Jess listened. The idea of Gwen suffering because Y/N pushed her in too far, too fast, would eat her alive. But if there was one thing Y/N was curious for, it was meeting Miles Morales. Gwen never stopped talking about him. Was excited as all get out any time he was mentioned. So seeing the young man in the Spider-Society was a treat. He was nice, and it was clear to her that Gwen and Miles cared for one another. How wasn't any of her business, just that they did, and now Miles was encompassed into the small army of children Y/N had amassed.
Which...brought her to this point.
An army of Spiders to her right. An army of Spiders to her left. And the one man army himself to her very front. Y/N was pissed Miguel treated Miles like that. Miles was a child who, god forbid, wanted to save his father. And besides. Miguel had already built up enough bad blood between Y/N and himself, with his little antics. She didn't find it hard to pick sides. Which led her to trying to block off the window Miles leapt out of. Her webs weren't the strongest, but considering it was an active act of treason, she knew she had to act fast. A Spider pinned to the wall there. A Spider dangled from the ceiling there. Buying Miles as much time as possible. The look on his face as he fell...the confusion. The gratitude. Miles had become one of her own, and she was not going to forsake him. But no one can stop Miguel.
He rammed into her, knocking the breath out of her like a bullet the size of Peter Parkedcar. There was a brief moment where Y/N were only spinning, Miguel's arms wrapped around her as she was used as a battering ram against her own webs, flung out the window. Miguel spun back, inexplicably, to place her back in the tower, muttering under his breath in Spanish before he launched himself back out the window.
"¿Por qué me hiciste esto, mi amor?" He had whispered. But she was too far gone. The world was getting hazy, and Y/N had one last thought.
That bought Miles another thirty seconds.

prohibited touches \\ Leah Williamson x reader
The first few months at Arsenal have been somewhat eventful. Thankfully, you national teammates and close friends Steph and Caitlin helped transition into the gloomy and overcast life that is London. Throughout the months, you’ve been training hard both on the field and in the gym and it doesn’t go unnoticed by a certain blonde defender.
The constant stares and eye tracking your muscles as they move and flex don’t go unnoticed by Steph, who eventually tells Caitlin. What they didn’t know is that the stares go both ways. You bend down to grab your water bottle when you see her.
Back muscles flexing.
Sweat dripping down her sports bra covered back.
Blonde hair sticking to her neck.
As you finish in the gym, you start to walk back to the locker room, only to bump into someone slightly taller than you. Her hands find your waist to steady the both of you and you look up to see the familiar blonde defender.
“S-sorry y/n” Leah stuttered out.
“No worries Leah, all good”
That’s how your first conversation with Leah started. The next is when you, Steph and Caitlin are talking about helping you build your new Ikea furniture a few weeks later. Leah sits next to your three and insists she comes to help, claiming ‘the more the merrier’. Steph, Caitlin and Leah come over to your new apartment that afternoon. Steph and Caitlin decide to start on the bed frame upstairs while you and Leah start on the tv unit. You open the boxes and lay all the pieces out before reaching over Leah for the instructions.
“Sorry” You apologise, realising you could’ve just asked for the instructions.
“No need to apologise at all” Leah mumbles as she moves a piece of stray hair from your face.
She looks down at your lips then back up to your eyes. You give her a slight nod and you both lean in before hearing two pairs of feet race down the stairs. You and Leah jump apart and Caitlin asks you for a screwdriver while Steph looks at you suspiciously as your arm is across Leah holding the instructions. A few hours later and the tv unit, bed frame and kitchen table and chairs are all finished. You decide to treat the girls to some pizza as a thank you for their help.
As you all get set up to eat, Leah sits next to you squashed up against you as Steph sits on the other side. You internally freak out as Leah is touching your bare thigh but remain calm. When the movie is over and everyone is full, Steph and Caitlin help clean up before leaving claiming they have to be up early in the morning. You and Leah look at each other, confused as you know there’s no game or anything tomorrow.
“How about some popcorn while you choose the movie?” You suggest.
“Sounds good, don’t take too long”
You walk into the kitchen and decide to quickly make the popcorn your mum used to make all the time. Heating the pot up, you pour in the oil before adding the kernels and putting the lid on. Just after you shake the pot, you feel two arms wrap around your waist and a head leaning on your shoulder.
“You took too long” Leah mumbles in your shoulder and you die a little on the inside at her cuteness.
“I thought homemade popcorn was fitting for our little movie night”
“You know, ever since you’ve come to Arsenal I’ve always had a small crush on you. But now I’m realising it’s more than a little crush”
You shake the popcorn again before turning in Leah’s arms. Her newly cut fringe hanging just over her gorgeous eyes, forces you to move it away behind her ear. You cup her cheek ever so lightly and pull her closer to you with your other hand. She whispers if it’s okay to kiss you and you answer by connecting your lips together. Leah pulls you closer to her, leaving no space between you too. A loud, alarm type noise pulls you both away from each other and the popcorn has burnt. You quickly turn the stove off while Leah attempts to turn off the smoke alarm. Both returning to the kitchen, looking at each other with a laugh.
“Microwave popcorn it is then!”
You put the bag in and Leah pulls you into her side, wanting to keep you close at all times. The bag is done and you pull it out and emptying the contents into a bowl before walking back to see a horror film on the tv. You groan while Leah chuckles and pulls you into her.
“No need to be scared love, I’m here to protect you always” Leah reminds you before kissing your cheek lightly.
All throughout the movie you hide into Leah’s side and you eventually fall asleep. The movie doesn’t even finish when Leah notices you’re asleep before carrying you up to your new bed. You feel a blanket being put over you and your eyes open to see Leah leaving the room.
“Lee?” The blonde turns around and smiles softly at you.
“I’m gonna get going love, it’s getting late”
“Please stay Lee” With the cutest puppy dog eyes Leah’s ever seen.
“Let me check the front door love, I’ll be back in a moment”
Leah kisses your forehead before jogging downstairs and coming back quickly. Leah wraps her arms tightly around you before leaning up and kissing you goodnight.
“Thank you for staying Lee”
“I don’t want to be anywhere else but here with you right now”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Leah have been dating for a few months now but are keeping it a secret for as long as possible. There’s no label on you two as yet, only because both of you keep getting scared right when one is about to ask. The bubble you two have created just isn’t ready to be popped yet.
The team figured out from day one that you’re dating with all the ‘subtle’ looks you two give each other across the locker room and the light but meaningful touches as you pass each other on the field. You’ve noticed the subtle hints Leah has been giving that she wants to announce your relationship.
Lia’s New Year’s Eve party is bustling with everyone either nursing a drink or finger food in hand. Lia is happy with how everything is going until she saw it was five minutes until midnight and no one was in front of the tv. Everyone gathers around the tv as the fireworks are set to go off very soon. Leah is standing on the side, kind of hidden from everyone but the tv still visible. A soft hand falls on the small of Leah’s back. She turns her head slightly and smile when she smells your familiar scent. Leah pulls you to her side and wraps her arms around you, resting her head on your shoulder. You squeeze her waist and Leah turns to kiss your neck affectionately. The countdown begins and Leah turns to stand in front of you.
“5!”
You pull her close and Leah moves her hand up to move a loose curl out of your face. You study her features for a moment and think just how lucky you are.
“Y/n/n”
“4!”
“Leah”
“Will you be my girlfriend?”
“3!”
Your faces are near millimetres from each other. Leah holds your soft cheeks in her hands, giving you a soft smile.
“2!”
You return the smile and your hands travel up her shirt, onto her bare skin. You feel Leah shudder and her eyes close temporarily.
“1! Happy New Year”
Your lips smash together without a care in the world. It’s like all your friends disappeared and you and Leah are the only people in the room. Eventually, you both pull away and have dopey smiles on your faces.
“So is that a yes then?” Leah asks with that sexy smirk on her face.
“Oh baby, that’s a hell yes. Happy new year girlfriend”
“Happy new year girlfriend. There’s no one I’d want to start the new year with”
You both turn to everyone and you find them staring at you both. Katie, Caitlin and Steph all silently high five before discussing who had the bigger influence in you two getting together. You and Leah announce your premature departure from the party and you are met with different boo’s from Kyra and Alessia and a ‘use protection’ from none other than Katie. You intertwine your hand with Leah’s and yell a thank you to Lia. Leah drags you out of the house and into her car, wanting to get home extra fast.
“Ready to start the new year with a bang?”
I think Dream views most of his conflicts like the Trolley Problem. And very rarely, like .1% of the time, it's a matter of the Collective Unconscious on one side and someone else on the other (like Rose during the vortex shenanigans), and that's when he struggles and hesitates and occasionally ends up blowing up the trolley in a fit of choice paralysis because unfortunately he cares so so much.
Now the other 99.9% of the time, it's the Collective Unconscious on one side and Dream on the other, and that's not even a little bit of a problem for Dream, he pulls the leaver on himself without even pausing to consider his options. This is easy. Fuck, he'll see empty tracks on one side and ask "is anyone gonna offer up their own wellbeing as a sacrifice over here?" and then not wait for an answer. He'll just lay face down and tell Matthew to fetch some rope.
And meanwhile Lucienne is grinding her teeth like "Sir. Sir. What if we. Didn't tie you to the tracks. So the trolley. Could pass by without hurting anyone. What if we made that a possibility here. We have the technology."
But Dream is already fully in character as both the cartoon villain tying a maiden to the train tracks and the maiden in question because the trolley has to run over someone, obviously, don't be stupid. Pull the leaver, Matthew.
