I think that Dean and Cas' story is truly a love story. From beginning to end, we see endless little storylines and director choices and writing choices and actor choices, we see their bond builds and builds and breaks and builds again and they ultimately have some of the most epic quotes spoken to them or by them, their story to it's core is a story about love, and how It can change even the most heartless of beings. It is also a story of so many beautiful mergings, between heaven and earth, angel and human, we see two supposed opposite beings literally fall in love infinite times over while trying to save each other again and again, and in so many ways, not always good ways, but all in good intention.

An angel of the lord saves the righteous man from hell. This is where they start. And then he continues trying to explain to him why he deserves to be saved. Why he will do it time and time again. And so he does.

They go to purgatory together, and the whole time they are there their whole mission is trying to save one another, even if it meant sacrificing oneself, because the other one is too important for them to lose, to imagine a life without, to deprive them of continuing to live like they deserve.

They always tried to keep the other one safe and close, without knowing truly why that is what they wanted.

The angel rebelled for the human. He kept doing everything for him, and the human did everything for the angel, trusted him, made him his family, and taught him what family truly meant.

They were each other soulmates, which was confusing and took some time for the angel to comprehend since he never had a soul to begin with. Maybe the human made him grow a soul, even if only figuratively, but either way, he couldn't deny the truth once it set in; it was the love he had for this human that changed him, changed everything, the entire course of the universe.

So yeah, Castiel, Angel of the Lord, Celestial being of Heaven and the Divine, let his love change him. And he became other things, like Cas and Huggy Bear and Sunshine. He let the heaven in him fall in love with the earth and never came back to the heartless soulless being he once was. He loved now and was in love, and it was so much it was enough to make him happy.

And Dean loved Cas. He loved him a lot. He saw praying as begging but only prayed to Cas. Only begged Cas to see him and understand he needs him, because love is too big a word, or too small, or too hard to let out of his throat. He let himself be hurt by Cas both physically and emotionally because as much as Cas cared for him, there were times he did not know the best ways to show it. He trusted him time and time again and gave him the benefit of the doubt until he couldn't find it in him anymore to hold against his own anger and lost it. Lost his angel to his anger while he froze in place. But he woke up in time, and prayed again to his angel to come to him, to save himself, because he loved him, he loved him so much that he let his anger die and let himself cry for his love. And Cas came to him and heard his prayer, but not the love that was too scared to be set free.

And then it was time. It was time for Cas to save Dean one last time, and the only way he could do that was by confessing his love and being happy and then abruptly being taken away forever. And he shared it all, everything they never talked about so openly before but always fucking felt and knew was there. Because not only he always loved Dean, he always really saw him, saw it all, and knew it all, but understood better than anyone that this Righteous Man did everything for love and out of love. Cas not only fell in love with the earth or with a human but with the most human aspect of this world, which was love. Dean was love incarnate, and Cas was always in Awe of him

So they loved and loved and lost each other, and it hurt like hell to think they would never have their happy ending.

But Dean and Cas had a fan base. A full on Fandom of people who loved them truly and wanted them to have a happy ending. And the writers aren't the only ones who matter in this story. We changed them too.

In my eyes, and I'm sure that in many of yours as well, Dean and Cas are happy and alive. They are together and in love, like they have always wanted to be, like they deserved to be. And it is good, and sweet, and safe, and sound.

Ranting about supernatural because I hate this show so so much (I’m so so obsessed with it to the point where it’s concerning) and I’m on season 6 episode 20 “the man who would be king” and can I just say how incredibly annoying the boys are! Like can you maybe hear cas out maybe! His reasons for doing these things aren’t malicious or demonic. He is fighting a war in heaven which they couldn’t give to shits about and now they are gonna be mad because he was MANIPULATED by crowley (I love the man but still) like can they use their brains for one moment. And I feel this may come off like I hate Sam and dean and I do not in any way they are very complex characters with trauma and trust issues but cas has done everything for them. He was trying to save them. He didn’t know the outcome. Like Sam and dean have never made a mistake before. Because I remember a couple seasons ago where Sam was going crazy gorging on demon blood because he thought he could do good with that power! So why be so hypocritical and get mad at cas in the way they did. And can we just talk about how broken cas looked when they trapped him in the holy fire! Like Sam said to him did you bring me back without a soul on purpose and his eyes god! Like in what world would castiel who saved you both from hell do that purposely! It was already hard enough to save dean it was a group project in a way he didn’t have help with Sam! And cas is also doing all of this because he thinks its what god wants. He is so blinded by his faith again because he got brought back to life. He had the idea that he was brought back for this reason and chuck did absolutely nothing because all he wants is drama and trauma for the collective and not caring about how his kids feel! Castiels faith breaks my heart because no one could understand it. Dean couldn’t and Sam couldn’t. Castiel has been an angel since the beginning it’s not so easy to give up everything you’ve ever known even when you know that it might not be the right thing. Was it easy for dean to see his father the way everyone else saw John. No. So why can’t it be difficult for cas. They truly never give cas a break. And yes I’m a major destiel shipper. But the way dean acts towards cas sometimes makes me so enraged. But this “breakup” dean looked heartbroken. Castiel had lied to him. Him of all people. The man who he had a profound bond with. He just wanted cas to ask for help and cas didn’t because he doesn’t do that. He’s never been not capable before things have never been this difficult for him before. And when you look at what castiel did there was truly nothing wrong with it. He was blinded and manipulated and he didn’t want all of the shit they endured to stop the apocalypse to be for nothing. He didn’t go to dean because he saw dean living a normal life he saw him getting out and he wanted to respect that. How could castiel have known dean wasn’t happy in that life. Castiel isn’t very good with human emotions and his thinking is very black and white while the winchesters have shades of gray thinking. So how is it fair to blame cas for all of it. I’m sorry about this rant i just feel so much about this! Like castiel is my favorite fictional character of all time and I wish I could’ve teleported into the show and been his lawyer because no one would listen to him no one ever does. I love all of them very very much but it would be dumb to think castiel doesn’t deserve better. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk about castiel. It may happen again

To the SPN fans that are hating on good omens rn bc of the leak, I hope you choke. I've seen some really nasty shit today from some of my (now unfollowed) followers whom I followed for spn content. So let's make one thing clear from actual posts ive seen today:

-Saying that the "wrong angels kissed", is...homophobic. I was with destiel from beginning to end and yeah we were completely shafted, but it's not okay to then say that other gay couples in media aren't allowed to kiss just because they aren't the ones you thought were hot. Jesus christ didn't think I needed to write that one down for ya-bo burnham

-I saw so much fatphobia about how Castiel deserved a kiss more than Aziraphel bc "he has far more sex appeal." Wtf wtf wtf. How do you live with yourselves saying that shit?You can pry Micheal Sheens body type Aziraphel out of my cold dead hands, you CW brainwashed morons!

-hate against the author for some reason, no one is willing to give specifics about it, but I think the majority of them maintain that GO is not good rep because they didn't kiss and now they are claiming pandering or something? Honestly that guy has only ever stood with the writers guild and queer people his whole career from what I find so I don't think it's fair whatever hate they are spouting. He isnt even saying he is upset with fans that saw or shared the video. Hes being super nice about it!

-I will say, non of us SPN fans have a fucking leg to stand on when it comes to hating something bc of the authors, OK. I saw someone saying the writing for spn was better and I can say you did not watch the show. I loved spn but don't do the late Terry Pratchett like this. He did nothing wrong

-on that same ish strain, as an ace person who thrives off queerplatonic relationships in media, maybe they kiss, I dunno. I just have to wait until the season comes out. Not 1 SPN fan gets to bitch about GO asexualty rep when SPN never even tried that route with any of its characters. But also ace characters are allowed to kiss, so you can write them that way of you want and interpret them that way if you want still. This is your viewing experience.

-this leak is truly not the same as the SPN yo a ti leak, solely bc the episode hasn't aired yet. "None of you GO fans would have survived the yo a ti leak." No I think you wouldn't bc the spn leak was clinging to an already mangled straw, while the angel's in GO are queer already. Queer queer queer and no amount of kissing or lack thereof is going to change that. We have no idea what happens in that episode of GO, but we saw the creators butcher the only moment in the show that could have meant anything real for queer viewers in SPN.

-"SPN crowly was kissing dudes first so this one is not that impressive". I see two cakes. One was made with the intent to make gay people look evil, but over time got kinda funny and a little better bc gay people liked it, and the other was about telling an interesting story about how love is so important, especially at the end of the world, and gay people liked that one too! So for me it's YaY two cakes!

-again the anti aziraphel is so plainly just fatphobia. You have no excuses. Sorry you don't think someone who looks like a slightly chubby micheal sheen could ever get kissed by someone who looks like David tennant, but you are not only wrong, you are also childish.

OK I'm done. Go watch good omens s2 when it comes out for my fucking sanity please. Or don't if all you are going to do is try to rip it apart like you do to all media that tries to be better.

You know, there's plenty to complain about wasted potential in characters, wasted story lines and the like but my biggest, hugest gripe with this show (beyond the homophobia but that's a different topic) is how much they wasted every archangel that wasn't Lucifer. And even Lucifer got absolutely butchered in season 15!

We met Raphael for so little that I can even think about what could have been done differently with him. Probably seeing more of the civil war in heaven would have helped both Raphael to feel more like an actual character instead of a figure stick placed to be Castiel's antagonist and Cas himself to not look like the asshole the writers tried to make him look like in s6

Gabriel was an amazing character that, like mostly everyone that wasn't Sam and Dean, deserved way more screen time that he got. But even with what we had, bringing him back in s13 to do absolutely nothing more than make Lucifer cry once and then killing him again was an absolute disservice to the archangel that died in the apocalypse facing his brother for the right reasons. He could have stuck around and if they really didn't want to have the power of an archangel on the side of the good guys then keep him depowered and let him process his trauma instead of healing in like 2 seconds

Michael... where do I even begin with Michael? The most powerful archangel, our Dean parallel in the celestial family, the obedient soldier that was still the nicest he could be to his vessels and I don't think he even had half an hour total of screen time. And let's be clear, I am not counting Apocalypse Michael here, this is about our world Michael, OG Michael. For starters we should have seen way more of him than we did. From season 11 onwards there were so many occasions in which the boys could have at least tried to talk to him AND THEY COULD DO IT but they never even tried. I do however love what they did with him and Adam when they finally left the cage, although I would have been the first one cheering them on if they went for revenge I think what they did makes clear just how different and not actually evil was Michael. I hate that even in the season where we know they are out there we barely see him, I would have loved to see more of his conflict about what his father did, seeing him grieve Adam (friendly or romantic, whatever is good for me at this point) and... well, here comes the biggest bad thing they did to him, I would have loved to see him stand up to his father, Michael deserved to do that, he was one of the angels who got most deeply screwed over by Chuck and he deserved to punch him in the face

And while in that topic... Lucifer. Lucifer was the archangel with the best arc, he was a great villain and the fact that the Mark was what made him like is in the first place made him actually sympathetic, when he told Michael he didn't want to fight him, the whole thing with Chuck I'm season 11 and then he realizing he had been played by his father in season 12 and wanting to prove he could do better was great. I loved what looked like a redemption arc for him because besides Michael, he also got incredibly screwed by their father. I hated that he turned on Jack like he did, I wish that whatever confrontation needed to happen at the end of season 13 would have been more out of being scared of AU!Michael and wanting to protect Jack even if he had to do it forcefully. The fact that Nick was somehow alive after his death was strange as fuck and I wish they had explained how exactly after he looked dead in S5 but regardless, the fact that he wanted Lucifer back I think says something about how he interacts with his vessels (when said vessel doesn't drag him back to his cage, I guess, sorry Sam, I love you). But biggest sin against him was how he went right back to Chuck like a dumbass in s15. S12 Lucifer, my beloved, he would never. He deserved to punch Chuck as much as Michael, I wish they had teamed up and punched Chuck together. Bet two archangels fighting god would have charged up Jack faster and would not have been as ridiculous as two humans being beaten up by god and being just mildly hurt at the end, they could still stand...

Anyway, the archangels deserved better, thanks for coming to my tedtalk

Dean’s hands are clammy. He knew this was the endgame of the night, obviously, and he’s been looking forward to it for like a week now, but it’s surreal. He’s actually nervous. He can’t remember the last time he was nervous for sex. Then again, he also can’t remember the last time he had sex with someone he genuinely cared about.

“Are you alright, Dean?” Castiel’s hand settles on his thigh. Fuck, even the sound of his voice is like a balm to Dean’s overactive mind. It brings a small smile to his lips and, before he can rethink it, he lifts Cas’s hand to his mouth and presses a kiss to his knuckles.

“I’m great. Better than great, actually. Can’t remember ever being this happy.”

Cas practically beams at that, and Dean can feel his heart beating faster. It’s hard to focus on driving when he feels like he could die from happiness, but he somehow manages to get them back to the little rental they booked for the weekend in one piece.

They deserve this. Hell, they deserve way more than this, but this is a start. The cabin is cute enough, with a hot tub on the back porch and a four-poster, king-size bed. They’d gotten here last night, but after a day spent in the car, they were both too exhausted to do much more than dump their bags on the floor and collapse into bed. Cas had woken up with some unfairly hot bedhead, but Dean had a plan for this weekend, and he wasn’t about to let it be ruined by some messy hair.

He releases Cas’s hand only long enough for them to both climb out of the car, quickly sliding his fingers between the former angel’s as they make their way up the porch. He revels in the tiny smile it brings to Cas’s lips.

“How are we doing on the whole “human for the second time around” thing? So far, at least.”

Castiel chuckles. “Well, I haven’t been murdered by a reaper yet.”

Dean huffs a laugh and punches the code into the lock on the door. “Yeah, I guess the bar was already pretty low.”

Castiel hums softly as Dean turns to close the door behind them, locking it and sucking in a deep breath. It doesn’t do much to calm his nerves.

“Are you alright?” Castiel asks softly, resting a hand on Dean’s shoulder. “We don’t have to do this if you don’t… want to.”

Dean scoffs. “No, I want to, Cas. I promise.” He takes another deep breath before turning to face Castiel. His eyebrows are pinched like he’s nervous Dean might reject him. He wonders how often Castiel worries about that. “You sure you want to?”

Castiel raises an eyebrow. “Am I sure that I want to finally have you underneath me after being in love with you for more years than I care to admit? Yes, I think so.”

Dean can feel the tips of his ears burning, so he doesn’t even want to imagine what his face looks like. “In love with, huh?” he asks, a stupid grin on his face.

Castiel rolls his eyes, but he smiles back as he leans in to draw Dean into a kiss. “Yes, Dean, I’m positive. Now are you going to stop stalling and come with me to the bedroom, or should I get started without you?”

Dean gapes at him. “Start without me? Now hang on a minute…”

Castiel shoots him a grin as he backs down the hallway toward the bedroom. Little fucker. He knows exactly how to push Dean’s buttons. It’s stupidly hot.

They both shed their layers on the way to the bedroom until they’re left barefoot, in their t-shirts and jeans. Dean pulls him into a kiss, winding his arms around Cas’s waist. They’ve done plenty of this since Castiel came back from the empty, blessedly alive and fully human. It had been an awkward few moments, considering Dean had shoved him against the nearest wall and made up for the decade they could have spent kissing if they hadn’t been such idiots. Sam had uncomfortably cleared his throat more than a few times, and god only knows what Jack was thinking, but Dean couldn’t find it in himself to care. He had his angel back, that was all that mattered.

He only pulls away long enough to tug Castiel’s shirt over his head, dropping it somewhere behind them and nudging Cas to sit on the bed. He shamelessly climbs onto his lap, threading a hand through his hair as he kisses and sucks his way down the former angel’s neck. Castiel’s hands are everywhere, roaming over every inch of Dean’s skin that he can reach. They finally settle on Dean’s thighs, holding him close as Cas draws him into another kiss. This one is filthy, all tongue, Castiel’s teeth scraping against Dean’s bottom lip. It drives Dean just a little bit insane, and it seems like Cas can tell since he does it again with a hint of a smirk on his lips.

“Do you like that, Dean?” he murmurs, his voice distractingly deep and warm, rumbling against Dean’s chest as he laughs. “I’ve dreamed about this for so long. Watching you let go for me.”

Dean shivers, blinking a few times to regain some semblance of composure as he lets Castiel remove his shirt. He doesn’t even care where Castiel drops it, he’ll worry about finding it in the morning. It’s the least of his concerns right now, especially once he leans back long enough to take in the sight in front of him—Castiel, shirtless, chest heaving with a sheen of sweat and a smirk on his lips as he lets Dean drink in his fill.

“God, Cas,” he mutters, dragging a thumb over one of his nipples, noting the sharp intake of breath he gets in response. “You’re incredible.”

Castiel chuckles, the sound like a warm, fluffy blanket wrapping around Dean. “I could say the same about you, you know. You’re beautiful, Dean, and despite how much I’d love to sit here and stare at you—”

“So a normal night for you,” Dean interrupts with a smirk, laughing when Castiel rolls his eyes.

“As much as I’d love it, I’d much prefer to see how you feel around my cock.”

Dean swallows, tongue darting out to lick his lips. “Wow, that was… way hotter than it should have been.”

Castiel laughs. “Is that a yes?”

Dean nods quickly, sliding off Castiel’s lap long enough to ditch his jeans and boxers. Castiel does the same, so when Dean climbs back into his lap they’re both blessedly naked. He lets himself bask in the moment, pulling Castiel into a kiss as he rocks his ass along the length of Castiel’s hardness, sucking in a shuddering breath. It’s been a damn long time since he’s had anything other than a toy inside him and as much as he’d like to rush the process, he doesn’t want Castiel’s first time with him to be anything less than perfect. So he takes his time, getting them both wound so tightly they could snap before he even reaches for the bottle of lube he’d brought with them and, thankfully, stashed in the bedside table earlier.

Castiel snatches it from him with a wicked grin. “I’ve dreamt about this, too. May I?”

Dean swallows, nodding quickly. “Yeah, Cas, yeah, my god.” He shuffles off his lap, sprawling out on the bed and pulling Castiel on top of him. “Never wanted anything more in my life.”

Castiel pouts. Honest to god pouts. Dean feels like he could combust. “Not even me?”

“Fuck, you’re gonna be the death of me,” he breathes out, mostly to himself, tugging Castiel down into a kiss. “C’mon, want you inside me sooner than later.”

Castiel smirks. “Say please.”

Dean groans. “Please, Cas.”

He half expects a good boy thrown in there, but he doesn’t get one. Instead, he gets the click of the lube cap, so he leans up on his elbows to watch Castiel.

He’s gorgeous. His hair is a goddamn mess, his chest flushed a nice, warm red, and his eyes—they’ve got a wild look to them, but they’re so utterly focused on Dean that it makes his heart beat a little faster.

“Alright. You’re ready?”

He doesn’t think he has the strength to speak right now, so he just nods. Castiel shoots him a small smile and leans down to kiss him. He’s a fucking master with his tongue, so much so that Dean barely even registers his finger pushing into him. He groans against Castiel’s lips, letting his knees drop open even more, hopefully encouraging him to continue. Castiel seems to get the message, his tongue sliding into Dean’s mouth as a second finger splits him open. He’s effectively trapped between the sensations of Castiel’s tongue and fingers and there’s no place on Earth that he’d rather be.

Castiel breaks their kiss, and Dean just barely has the presence of mind to bite back a whine. “I’m not hurting you, am I?” Castiel asks softly, pressing a kiss to Dean’s jaw.

Dean shakes his head quickly, sucking in a breath and pulling Cas’s mouth back to his. “Mm mm. Feels good, Cas. Can’t wait to have you inside me. C’mon, I can handle another.”

He feels Castiel shiver against him and grins, grinding against his fingers. It takes a minute, but eventually, Cas shakes himself from his stupor and presses a third finger into him. It burns, but Dean is wound so tight that he doesn’t even care. He wants Castiel inside him as quickly as possible, and honestly, even the burn feels a little bit good.

Still, he gets impatient after a few minutes, the burn faded and the thought of Cas splitting him open much more enticing than his fingers. “Ready, Cas, quit teasing,” he manages to get out, eyes fluttering closed when his fingers rub against his prostate, sending a warm jolt through him. “Fuck, please, want you inside me when I come,” he babbles, mostly lost to the sensation of Castiel’s fingers stretching him open and his mouth exploring every inch of Dean’s hot, flushed skin. Castiel seems to gather how far gone he is because after a moment his fingers are gone, quickly replaced with the blunt head of his slippery cock.

“Tell me if I hurt you?” Castiel asks softly, brushing his fingers through Dean’s hair. Dean nods quickly, wrapping his legs around Cas’s waist. “Promise, now get in me.”

Castiel laughs, drawing Dean into a kiss as he pushes into him. Dean grunts, fingernails digging into Castiel’s shoulders. It burns, but he’s so damn close to coming that he doesn’t even care. He takes another breath, easing the burn a bit, and pulls Cas into another kiss. God, he could do this all day. Honestly, if they didn’t have other things to do, he just might. He adds that to the list of things he wants to try with Cas at some point, making a mental note to actually write that list down and give it to Cas sometime.

“Okay?” Castiel asks softly, kissing down Dean’s neck.

Dean hums, grinding against Castiel just a little bit. “Damn right we do. Several times tonight, at least, if I get my way,” he says with a smirk, though it quickly turns to a gasp when Castiel pumps his hips a little.

“It would be my absolute honor to take you apart all night long, Dean,” Castiel purrs, fucking purrs, and Dean thinks he could die of happiness right here. Wouldn’t be a bad way to go, given all the ways he thought he’d die.

“Too much talking, not enough fucking,” he gasps out instead, shivering when Castiel laughs. He expects some witty remark in return, but instead, Castiel just sits up and grabs Dean’s hips, pulling him into every thrust as he finds his rhythm. It’s punishing, and Dean’s almost certain he’s forgotten how to breathe, simply with the sight of Cas above him like his, hair a mess and a dark burn in his eyes.

“I want to hear you when you come for me, Dean. I want to hear every moan, every stutter in your breath, every curse. I want it.”

Dean gasps, eyes fluttering closed as Castiel’s words sink in. He considers being a brat for a moment, but only a moment, before he realizes he’d much rather give Castiel what he wants.

It doesn’t take long before he’s teetering on the edge of an orgasm, his grunts and muttered curses only seeming to spur Cas on. If he didn’t know any better, he’d think the man still had the stamina of an angel, with how relentless his thrusts have been.

“C-Cas, fuck, I can’t… I’m gonna…” he manages to choke out, eyes squeezing shut as Castiel’s warm hand wraps around his cock. It only takes a few rough strokes before he’s completely gone, boneless as he comes over his own stomach. Castiel’s not far behind though, his hips slamming into Dean’s a few more times before he spills white hot inside Dean, his shaky breaths the only thing still grounding Dean to this reality.

They stay like that for a couple of minutes, catching their breath and blinking hazily at each other. Dean cracks first, a lazy grin on his lips as he pulls Castiel into a kiss.

“We really should have been doing that for the last decade.”

Castiel laughs and, yeah, that really is the best sound in the world.

“Okay, look. It’s called pretending. I need you to pretend you like me to make Dean jealous. Got it?” You looked at Cas for his reaction and was met with his classic face of confusion.

“I already like you. We are friends. I thought friends like each other?” Damn, this was going to be harder than you thought.

“No, no you’re right. Umm, I need you to pretend you like me more than friends. Can you do that?” Your mind was struggling to figure out how to explain things in human terms for him.

“Like lovers?” You clapped your hands together in excitement. “Yes, Cas! Like lovers! But it is just pretend until Dean realizes how stupid he is being.” While you were trying to think of how to display your newfound love for each other, you didn’t see Castiel shake his head.

“I do not condone lying.” Shit.

Sam let out a short chuckle and closed his laptop. “This is painful to watch.” You pointed a finger over at him, “Not helping.” You started pacing knowing Dean was going to be back soon and Cas was going to disappear without notice. Time was not on your side.

“You seem to be in distress. Are you okay?” The amount of will power to not roll your eyes at the clueless angel deserved an award. Sam’s muffled laugh across the room wasn’t helping either.

You sighed, “Yes, I’m okay. Just trying to figure out how to get Dean’s attention for once and clearly this wasn’t the way to go.”

The door opened and the oldest Winchester walked in with a beer in one hand and food in the other. Without warning, Cas put an arm around your shoulders and nearly shouted, “Y/N and I are lovers.”

You winced at how forward that sounded. Sam tried his hardest to keep it together but ended up choking on his water making the situation that much worse. Making eye contact with Dean was something you planned on avoiding for the rest of your life, but his voice wasn’t something you could tune out.

“Ah, that’s great, I guess. Mazel tov.” The confusion was clear, and you realized now how horrible of an idea it was to rope Cas into this mess. The weight of his arm disappeared and when you looked over, you noticed he was gone. At least the main variable in this situation was away for the time being.

“I’m going to shower.” Were the only words you managed to squeak out before literally running away from your problems. You turned the water on as hot as it could go in hopes the burning sensation would help you calm down from the embarrassment.

You stepped under the water and leaned your forehead against the cool tile of the shower wall, wondering if you had lost your damn mind. Of all people to try and make Dean jealous of, Cas was the farthest one from success. You would’ve had better luck paying some random guy at the bar to act like he was hitting on you.

But you couldn’t help but smile at how quickly he was to help you. Even after he told you how much he didn’t like it. You sent him a quick thanks and told him how lucky you were to have him as a friend.

Your stomach rumbled and the cheeseburger you sent Dean out for was calling your name. As much as you wished to hide in this gross bathroom forever, you knew one of the boys would come drag you out eventually.

As you opened the door, conversation seemed to stop immediately, but you kept your head down and went to sit at the table with the two of them. The room was silent besides some old soap opera and the sounds of food being eaten. Maybe if you finished this burger quickly, you could get away with going to bed early.

“So, how long have the two of you been lovers?” There goes that plan. You could see the smirk on his face without having to look up.

“Shut it, Winchester.” You focused on your food, hoping the green-eyed hunter would drop the subject, but luck was nowhere near on your side today.

“If you wanted my attention, all you had to do was say something, sweetheart.” Your eyes went wide as you realized what he said and whipped your head over to Sam. “What did you tell him?”

He lifted his hands up in surrender, “The two of you need to figure out whatever this is between you. I thought watching Dean pout at the bar was sad, but this took the cake.”

You leaned back in your seat and ran a hand through your hair. “Yeah, I realize now how different humans and angels are. But he played his part as well as can be expected.”

Dean threw his head back and laughed, “I don’t know what was funnier. The way he said it or the look on your face.”

You threw a fry at his face and rolled your eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up.” Before any of you had the chance to say something more, the angel of the hour appeared by your side.

“As lovers, do we need to obtain a legal marriage license?” You couldn’t help but laugh this time and placed your hand on his. “While I do appreciate you going to great lengths for me, it is no longer needed.”

Cas looked over to Dean and asked, “You have realized how stupid you were being? That was the goal of this, right?” You smiled and nodded.

Dean chuckled, “Yeah, Cas. I realize now how stupid I’ve been. Thanks for watching out for my girl though.”

Dean wants to crawl inside that low rumble of a voice and curl up there forever. Delirious, he says, “Yes.”

Then Cas says, “You kissed me.”

Dean swallows. “And?”

Cas kisses him. Something burns at the hem of Dean’s shirt and his eyelashes flutter darker and it’s much, much later when he realizes he’d felt a spark from the lightbulbs blowing out.

Dean barely talks since Cas died. Even once they save him, it's too damn hard. In which fucked up coping styles leave both Cas and Dean convinced the other doesn't really love them. Cas thinks Dean is offering to sleep with him out of the goodness of his heart, or so Cas won't leave. Dean is trying to be less of a dick and ends up crying all the time. Cas just wants Dean to let him be the big spoon. They get to heal and be in love.
