realising ppl sort their books by a system is sending me, I just put them on the shelf based on vibes

my system is insane and should be written down in the DSM V,

i divide them by fiction and nonfiction

nonfiction first gets divided by history - politics - everything else

fiction gets divided by genre so we got all the non genre literature on one side and the genre literature on the other. the genre literature gets divided between fantasy, scifi and horror and fantasy, which is the biggest collection of genre literature i have, gets sort of divided between time period and age target

non genre literature gets divided by time period so i got all my like greek and roman stuff on the higher shelf (which is a special shelf actually because i have also greek/latin lliterature/theatre critic books and retelling up there with them) then it's divided by 1600-1800, late 1800-around wwii, wwii-90s and then everything after the late 90s is considered contemporary literature. this poses kind of a problem for writers who writes like inbetween time periods, for example most of Toni Morrison novels are before the 2000s but some arent. i decided that keeping authors together is more important than distinction between time period so i arbitrarely decided she goes in the wwii-late 90s shelf

then the post wwii literature gets divided between geographical areas so we got the italians vs the rest of the world. the rest of the world is divided between the US, latin america, rest of europe etc etc

contemporary keeps shifting because im never satisfied, right now they are divided by publishing house
