I don't know about you, but I haven't managed to recover from SxF chapter 66. I feel like it left me in a state of crisis and constant alertness, it made me skeptical about some characters and it made me very sad and worried about Yor!

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels that this chapter was more shocking and suspenseful...

I need Endo to make me regain faith and hope in future chapters… or I'll need him to pay me for therapy xD

Ty for answering my q! (Am the guy who asked about lgbt being common in ancient china etc) since lgbt is more of a western concept what would be a chinese equivalent for it? Like how is the chinese homosexuality different from the west? (Sorry if my wording is off im not exactly sure how else to phrase it 😭😭)

I'm just talking about the cultural differences that shape what it means to be queer across the globe. Modern LGBT+ discourse was led and shaped by western academics so theories of gender and sexuality are based largely on the that of white thinkers. Although it's true that English LGBT terminology and the relevant standardised definitions have spread and been translated globally, and that Western ideals of masculinity and femininity remain dominant overall, similar concepts can't be understood 1:1 across all cultures. And there certainly existed something else before Western influence.

Also, picture this: you are watching a TV show from the Song Dynasty. You notice some of the male characters are always wearing flowers on their head/in their headwear 👀. You, proficient in imagery and symbolism, think to yourself, "💅🏼?"

But little did you know that this was a men's fashion trend at the time, practiced by young and old, rich and poor, hardly the indicator of queerness!

What I mean is, when it comes to looking at history, especially history of different cultures, basically you have to remember that there is a different context/historical framework to what is queer, what is gendered masculine and feminine, what is homoerotic/sapphic (and "queerplatonic" as we'd understand some of these instances and relationships), what is sexual, etc. So going back to my comment in the previous ask, based on all this, I personally feel that bringing terms like LGBT to such conversations is not appropriate because it also brings with it a modern framework which is not productive to understanding history as having its own frame of references.

Do you know how cloning works? It's actually really cool. So when you're forming you're made of these special cells right? Now I don't know their name because I'm not a native English speaker, but these cells can turn into different cells and thats how a living being forms. But when you're older you still have some of those cells, so you can take those cells and use them to create a copy of the being you took them from by injecting them into (the egg thing? I forgot the name for it) and then injecting that into someone/something that can host that being

(Human cloning is illegal in all countries, if you're worried about that) but the big problem is that those cells that were used to create the new being are old, and on a cell level, that thing is as old as the original

That means that the new being can have diseases and complications that only older things of that species can have. The first clone actually died because of that! You know that sheep that got cloned? Yeah the clone died young of a illness only old sheep could have

In a human that could mean that if you made a clone of yourself in your 50s for example, when that clone was 20 they could have dementia because their cells are 70 years old.

But in plants its very different. For example, all bananas are clones, because bananas do not have seeds (no the black thing inside of a banana are not seeds). Its actually a huge issue because if a banana tree (idk the english name for it) has an illness, like a fungus, it can spread very very fast trough all of the farm because it's just the same tree over and over and it could spread to even other farms and cause a massive extinction

To clone a tree you just need to cut a branch off and plant it again (there are specific ways to do that with some plants but you can probably find a video on yt explaining how to cut the plant you want)

There's this really cool thing where you can reattach a branch (of for example, a lemon tree) to another tree (for example, a orange tree) with some moss and eventually it will become part of the tree and you'll have a orange tree with one branch that gives lemons

in theory you could probably make some kind of art program plugin that does all of this for you - even the bit with loading actual colorset information into layered colorset pairs, but I mean that's a lot of effort and I still largely use a 20+ year old version of Paint Shop Pro myself so...

I'm really over all this weird hate Lin Manuel Miranda has started getting. Like, he's not perfect, some of his work is very phoned in just for a paycheck or part of a contract, and yeah he should be criticized for the times he's fumbled or worse about racism, but a lot of the criticism this website is throwing at him is just off the mark. Like, you absolutely cannot deny the impact he's had on theater, Pop Culture, recent music, etc.; Of course, people do try and minimize or flat out deny any impact he's had, and they flat out have to lie or misrepresent reality to do it. Hamilton, while obviously worthy of its criticism, definitively made an impact with race blind casting and emphasizing diversity; It's not fully his fault Disney remakes saw people liked race-blind casting once and decided all their remakes have it now regardless of the legitimate criticisms he got from it. Speaking of remakes, a lot of Tumblr people hating on him hard-core right now are specifically hating on him in relation to the Little Mermaid remake, and... I hate to defend it, but Tumblr should really understand by now that not everyone is hating on an admittedly bad remake for the same reason, and in this case a lot of them are hating on it for very obviously racist reasons, and yet because they share a hate for LMM, people just reblog without looking, and now tons of Leftist or Progressive Tumblrs are regularly reblogging Lite to big time racist/fascist Tumblrs. Like, come on, isn't this website the one where everyone was all smug about not falling for "obvious" Right Wing Pipelines? Look, they guy is earnest and imperfect, and I've never really cared about him before now, simply because I recognized the flagrantly stupid "He WaS nEvEr GoOd" takes and recognized the pipeline that was coming because of Little Mermaid.
