A New Batch of Stars!

Stellar news everyone! Birds of Valhalla has a great announcement and YOU are the first to hear it. Sure you’re reading, but it’s big news from New York where Birds of Valhalla is based. BIG NEWS! As you have read multiple times on this blog, that Birds of Valhalla uses ethical mica powders and activated charcoal to color the soaps. If you don’t know, let the company enlighten you as to what “ethical mica” means. Many cosmetic companies use a ground down mineral called mica that is very glittery when in a powdered form to add that sparkle and shine to their products. The thing is, you can’t always be sure what you’re buying is ethical from the big name brands. Child labor runs rampant in the mining industries and while exploitation is at an all time high, many companies won’t stop the mining altogether because that means that the families will not have any income whatsoever. So the unethical treatment of miners continues because areas that are mostly used for this practice would rather deal with the horrible exploitation than the loss of all income. However, there are many brands that have joined together to make the Responsible Mica Initiative and thus don’t use any mica powders that aren’t able to be traced to ethically sourced mines.

There are even some synthetic micas that boast a bolder color. Some companies prefer the synthetic route instead of the ethical route for that bright bold color for their products. Birds of Valhalla however uses a brand called Mad Micas. Usually, the company doesn’t disclose the supplies that are used in the studio since Bids of Valhalla doesn’t have ties to those companies. Mad Micas has reached out and given the CEO an opportunity. Before we get to the opportunity though, let’s talk about Mad Micas themselves. The company was originally called Mad Oils by their CEO and founder Joanna Schmidt. Joanna had been making bath and body products for over fourteen years. Joanna herself created a blog and it helped her fall in love with handmade soaps and products.It was decided then that only the best products would be available for use because of her own high standards for her products. She selected the ideals to be animal cruelty free, vegan friendly, and ethically sourced and supplied to make sure her business would be kinder than most in the market as well as hold up to her standards. After a lot of research, Joanna selected the blend and powders that now make up all the glitters and mica powders offered by Mad Micas. The company is based in Florida and ships to quite a few places. One thing Mad Micas prides itself on is the fact that every shipment is required to declare that they are vegan, cruelty free, and ethically sourced. If documents can’t be provided, then Mad Micas looks elsewhere for their supplies. You can find out all about Mad Micas ethics and company by looking at the linked websites. This outlook on sourcing and quality of product is something that fits perfectly with Birds of Valhalla.

And now to the big announcement. You’ve been patiently waiting for it so here it is. Mad Micas has made a brand new line of colors called, Uncharted, and they have agreed to let Debra Glaze, Birds of Valhalla’s CEO and creative soap mind, use it for a new line of soaps. However, the line won’t be brand new, instead it’ll be a revamping of the astrology line. It’s been teased on TikTok that the zodiac line would be getting a facelift from colors to fragrances, maybe even crystals in the new year and with this news, the colors will be changing for certain. The original bars that are found on the website and Etsy will be changed up to bring in this new line of Mad Micas color. This deal is so under wraps that colors haven’t even been shared yet. Maybe each sign will get their “lucky” or “power” colors in the bars, like Aries with red, white, and pink; Taurus and pastel shades of pink, white, and Earth tones; Gemini with yellow and green; Cancer has white, yellow, blue, and sea green; Leo and reddish orange, gold, and purple for the regal and royal lion. Virgo’s colors are pastel shades and varying greens; Libra has the balanced colors of blue, pink, and green; Scorpio seduces with dark purple, maroon, and black; Sagittarius blends purple and yellow; Capricorn dominates in grey, black, and brown; Aquarius commands in electric blue and turquoise; and rounding everything out, Pisces controls the scene in soft sea green and light shades like yellow and lavender. The line of colors from Mad Micas hasn’t been unveiled, but maybe we’ll see some of these swirled in the astrology bars in the near future. These astrology signs have been deeply rooted in the Greek mythology and it’s time to bring them closer to the business by attaching each zodiac sign to a Norse god or goddess. In the lineup Birds of Valhalla will showcase Thor, Njordr, Freya and Freyr, Skadi, Sif, Loki, Odin, Idunn, Baldur, Mimir, Tyr, and Hel. Can you match the deity to the usual zodiac sign? Maybe you can guess the fragrances and colors that might be associated with each deity and give ideas for others. Maybe there are even going to be soaps that have new stones topping the bars. Who knows what new items may be in stores? Only the CEO has the ideas in her brain.

While the zodiac line is getting its facelift, the remainder of the store is still available with the familiar colors and fragrances that have brought Birds of Valhalla notoriety and fame across TikTok and Shopify. You don’t have to worry about losing any from the Signature Line like Shield Maiden, Fenrir, World Tree, Kraken, Nordic Nights, Bjorn’s Brew, Witch’s Brew, Honey Moon, Midgard Serpent, and The Raven. Staples of the shop like Aurora Borealis will still be around just like it is and so many more will be coming with the seasons changing like Ragnar’s Revenge, Ichabod’s Chase, Krampus, and New Year’s Eve. Changes are coming to Birds of Valhalla and everyone has to admit, sometimes change is a good thing. Change is amazing when it means the company can work with another well respected company and supplier to make even more amazing things.
