we are about an hour into rare disease day in my timezone! (it's always the last day of february, whether that's the 28th or the 29th.) the true prevalence of mast cell disorders is unknown, as they are often misdiagnosed or ignored. and mast cell activation syndrome, the most prevalent kind of mast cell disorder, only had diagnostic criteria laid out for the first time in 2010. so whether or not it's truly rare is really up in the air!

(personally I suspect it is just aggressively underdiagnosed but I'm not a research scientist or diagnostician right now. and even if it is rare, it's gonna be a lot less so than it was 5 years ago as certain respiratory infections are known to trigger it into visibility. that's what happened to me when I got mono at the end of 2015, further compounded when I got covid in 2022.)

all chronically ill people face a lot of hurdles when it comes to seeking diagnosis, accommodation, and treatment (all of which can be severely complicated by any intersecting marginalities), but rare diseases present a special challenge.

for example, I have an immune disorder. my immune system does not like being alive, my mast cells are way too jumpy and throw a tantrum over every little thing. you'd think an immunologist would be the one to treat me, right?

I've had 6 immunology referrals rejected in the past 9 months alone. multiple major immunology clinics in my major city tied to a major research university outright refuse to see patients with "mcas" written anywhere in their chart.

after 8 years of being debilitatingly ill, and suspecting it was immune mediated for 6, and getting it confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt by the bone marrow biopsy last month, I will have my second ever appointment with an immunologist. another 2 1/2 months from now. the first immunologist lied to me about the reliability of the one available blood test, when I first came up with the hypothesis by myself 6 years ago, and forced me to abandon my (correct!!! now proven!!!) hypothesis for 3 entire years while we wandered around lost and got nowhere other than even more thorough process of elimination.

okay, well if my immune system is attacking me, maybe it's technically autoimmune? that's the rheumatologists instead of the immunologists, what do they have to say? dick all my dude, I don't have rheumatoid arthritis so they just shrug at me and go "idk, fibro? I don't know why you're here" and send me home with nothing. (I literally had a rheumatologist say to me, verbatim, "I don't know why you're here." buddy it's your job to read the chart and decide if I get seen or not, you tell me. at least he had a snazzy outfit.)

being chronically ill can be a terrible struggle no matter what, but a disease that is perceived as rare, accurate or not, adds a whole new layer of bullshit. (and of course there are much much rarer diseases out there, with even more hoops and dead ends and struggles and all-new layers of bullshit that even I don't have to deal with!)

anyway I'm having a shit time and using this awareness day as an excuse to productively bitch about it 👍

first, i'm so sorry you've had a bad experience with libra men! i just got out of a long-term relationship with a libra man, so i understand what you mean. one thing i WILL say is that as far as acting like an asshole, i don't know that that's a libra quality more than it is something else in their chart. a lot of my best friends are also libra suns and i think the love-bombing aspect of that can be very true for all of them. livras just need that reassurance that you like them and they know how to make you feel special. as far as being an asshole though, i think that we'd have to search deeper into the chart for that.

one thing i want to say about libra suns right off the bat is that obviously they like to appease everybody. that's why a lot of people find them likeable. libra suns understand what you want them to act like, and that's exactly what they do. so what does this mean for chan? i think he 100% knows that we like it when he is our "sweet, shy, humble father of 7 kids", but he also knows we like it when he's got major daddy vibes. and he knows WHEN to bring them out... now that side of him is what he shows to US, but it could be vastly different from what he shows others. you've probably seen that when he's around other guys, he takes on a more masculine, playful character than what he normally shows us. i think behind closed doors when he's just with his members or friends, he's def more of a "guy's guy" than what he lets on. i think he probably cuts up a lot, makes crude jokes, says stupid boy shit, etc. but it's not that he's trying to be deceitful in not showing us this... i just think that he knows when it comes to stays, he needs to behave a certain way. i think when it comes to GIRLS in general, he knows he needs to behave a certain way. i don't think any of it is insincere at all, and i think he def still has those traits that come out when he's hanging with the boys, BUT in everday life, i see him as more "dude-ish" than he probably shows us. any man that's out here wear shorts in the fucking cold is a dude's dude, let's be honest.

so, whether he's an asshole or not i think depends on 1) his other chart placements, and 2) what your own chart placements are. for example, i know some people got upset ab what he posted on bubble a week or so ago. to ME, i thought it was just all jokes and him messing around (like dudes do) and thought it was annoying but funny tbh. like i don't have time for your shit today christopher 🙄 BUT obviously some people did not like it and really took it to heart.... so in that regard, it's like "okay, is he an asshole, or do i just perceive him as an asshole bc we don't have the same sense of 'joking around'?" i think that's a big factor in it. but let's look at his chart and see OBJECTIVELY do i think he'd switch it up and be an asshole after a certain amount of time.

as far as communication goes, NO, i do not think he would intentionally be an asshole on a regular basis. his personality AND his communication style both sit in libra in the 5th house. i think this shows he's really funny and creative, flirty, and likes to mess around and get people riled up. random note, but 5th house also is heavily involved in children, so i think he'd talk ab having kids or raising a family together a LOT. but on the regular, i think he'd actually be a good communicator in relationships and try his best to make them fun.

something i find interesting ab channie is that both his moon in libra and his venus in scorp lie in the 6th house. 6th house governs work, service, and health. i feel like this makes TOTAL sense for him. his moon rooted in libra here means that in relationships, he probably has to feel very giving and feel that he needs his partner to integrate into his work life in order to feel balanced. i have sooooo much more to say on this, which i will do later. his venus in scorp here also tells me that he pours a lot of love and beauty into what he does in work, and that he is vvvvv passionate ab it. i think with this combo, it could actually come up that he is "married to work" in a way. he could REALLY struggle finding balance between relationships and work. and let me emphasize why:

his mars is in sagittarius on the 6th/7th house cusp. stick with me here. mars represents action and aggression, while sagittarius is a fiery and independent sign. i talked previously about how 6th house represents work and service, but 7th house is the ruler of partnerships and marriage. so put all of this together and what we are seeing is someone who REALLY struggles in balancing work and relationships, and this is happening in the placements that rule aggression and independence. can def be a scary combo tbh.

so how do i see this playing out? overall, i think chan is lovely in relationships. basically will be whoever you need him to be and actually is very loving. he has that 6th house placement, so although work is extremely important to him, so is service, which INCLUDES taking care of you. HOWEVER, he has a very difficult time balancing these two things. i think when things are going poorly at work, he will bring that home and into your relationship. when things aren't great in your relationship, he will really struggle at work.... so as much as i hate to say it, i do think if he's having a difficult time at work, he could accidentally take it out on you. even if he doesn't mean to... either 2 things would initially happen: (1) he gets really upset and bottles it all in and/or gets flighty all of a sudden and acts like he doesn't know what he wants, (2) he explodes on you for no reason... like when he feels like his life is off-balance, he can genuinely get that worked up. don't get me wrong, he would regret it later and do everything to try and make up for it, but i see him having that problem for the time being.

so i think it's up to everyone individually how they're able to handle those traits in a relationship. i see people say something like "when chan gets stressed at work, all he wants to do is come home and lay in your arms", but i genuinely disagree. he may END UP wanting that by the end of the night, but when he's upset, he needs to be alone for a bit. so i think that's up to you if you think that makes him an asshole or not? i think it depends on compatibility and how you also react 100%

Crown of Ashes and Flames— Update 18/12/2022

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well 💗 I think I'll start giving you guys an update every 18th of the month now that it's the second time I post on the 18th (wasn't on purpose, life just made things easier for me but im also sick so).

Now onto the updates!

Chapter 1 is almost done! Yes you read that correctly, I pulled through. Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to get the demo out this year since it'll probably take my editor more than a week to go through this. Currently I am at 15k words and I think I will be at around 18k by the time I finish the chapter.

Demo will definitely be out in January, not sure how I feel about my story being a capricorn or aquarius. Stay tuned, everyone!

Set up tweego and the itch.io page tweego was a nightmare but I did it ✨️ the itch.io page, which is currently private, isn't much to look at as it is just like the intro post on here but I'm so glad it's done.

Portraits were a success or at least I like to think they were I'm so happy that I get to share with all of you what I imagine them to be like. The male ones are going to release from tomorrow so I hope everyone looks forward to that! The votes were wild I've never seen a color dominate the charts so much but it makes me happy people like him. If you haven't voted yet make sure to do so.

I'm going to be busy the next few weeks and for majority of January so I will probably start on chapter 2 in February. I know that's kind of far away but I wanted to let you guys know now so it isn't out of the blue.

With the release of her chart-topping sophomore album Sweet 18, Takahashi is on the top of her game at the moment, and it’s only been 21 months since she first made her debut. The idol’s second album has sold much more than her first, selling over 600,000 copies, and it’s slated to place within the top three of Oricon’s end of the year albums chart, in comparison to the top ten placement Takahashi’s self-title achieved. Her newest single, “Black Night,” became her biggest hit to date, debuting atop the Oricon singles chart and becoming Takahashi’s first No. 1 single. It became the most downloaded song in Japan, and even saw success in America, managing to score a place on the Billboard Hot 100 (her second Hot 100 single so far). And with that level of success, it’s no surprise that other major artists are clamoring to collaborate with her.

The first collaboration to be released was a major one. A remix of Psy’s mega hit “Gangnam Style,” (which hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100) the track was released in June, and its subsequent success cut rather close to that of the original. It garnered two number ones on the Billboard charts, one on the Hot Dance/Electronic chart, and another on the World Digital Song Sales chart. It also debuted at No. 6 on the U.S. Digital Song Sales chart, found itself atop the Oricon charts, and placed at No. 5 on Gaon. Within a mere month, the remix’s music video has also garnered viral status. As of now, it has nearly 90 million views on YouTube, and it’s currently tied with “Black Night” as Takahashi’s most viewed music video. The MV didn’t go viral on the song alone, however. Netizens in South Korea fell in love with Takahashi’s bold makeup, her claw-like nails, and wacky, 2000s-esque hairstyles, with some comparing her to 2NE1’s Dara. There was even a name coined for her style of makeup on Naver, “starliner,” and the trend has gotten so big that it’s spread to England. There was also a scene in the MV of her blowing bubblegum, and since it was the thumbnail, Korean netizens began calling her “Bubble Girl.” Additionally, critics have heaped acclaim on the “Gangnam Style” remix, praising Takahashi for her energetic and unique delivery of her lines, as well as for the versatility in her voice.

The story behind this legendary collaboration is pretty cut and dry, as Takahashi and Psy met at last year’s VMAs. The former’s label, Avex Trax, was quick to push for a collaboration, and due to her status as one of Japan’s fastest rising stars, Psy’s label—YG Entertainment—was just as quick to agree. Takahashi was originally supposed to feature on a remix of “Gentleman,” but she insisted on a remix of “Gangnam Style” instead, as she already had a verse written. And it seems like that change was for the best. An interesting thing, however, is how Takahashi initially believed that there wasn’t going to be a music video for the remix. However, Avex informed her that YG had agreed to one a day before she was set to fly back to Japan. And so, Takahashi remained in Korea for three more days (she was initially there to record her lines), and what is possibly the best music video of 2013 was created.

The second and most recent collaboration to be released was one with South Korea’s very own AKB48 and Flowerbank Entertainment’s most successful girl group, Allume. Released earlier this month, “Cinderella” was also a smash hit, and is probably the most beloved collaboration that Takahashi’s ever done. The gothic concept and traditional J-idol feel of the music video was a favorite among both critics and fans, and Takahashi’s increasingly improving vocal ability saw the most praise, with critics adored how well her voice paired with the members of Allume. And, of course, the track’s commercial performance was just as good. “Cinderella” debuted atop the Oricon chart and found itself at No. 2 on Gaon. Takahashi met Flowerbank’s mega girl group at the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards, shortly after Marisol and youngest member Analise stated their love for her music. Even though Takahashi and Allume got along well, there was no collaboration planned or even mentioned in passing. However, as Takahashi and Avex were discussing bonus tracks from Sweet 18 to possibly release, she brought up what was originally an unreleased demo, the track formally known as “Chandelier” and what would become “Cinderella.” Since it was a demo, though, the track was unfinished and “empty.” Takahashi, ever the one to take control of her career, suggested Allume as a possible collaboration, as she believed that more than one additional voice would make the song sound fuller. Both Avex and Flowerbank agreed on a collaboration, as Takahashi needed more international exposure, and although Allume was already popular in Japan, more Japanese fans wouldn’t hurt.

Like the “Gangnam Style” remix, behind the scenes of the “Cinderella” MV was posted to Takahashi’s YouTube channel, showing just how much fun she and the Allume girls got along, and there were some truly notable moments between her, Marisol, and Analise. And just a few days ago, Takahashi stated that a live performance of “Cinderella” is in the works, sparking excitement among both fandoms. She also said that she would love for Allume to perform with her during her upcoming tour, and we can only wait and see and hope that it’ll happen.

Even after two major collaborations, Takahashi still isn’t done. Her upcoming single “Telephone” is an exciting one, as she’s set to collaborate with J-pop legend and her biggest inspiration Namie Amuro. The song is reportedly a quintessential 2010s EDM track, topped with the dark concept that was all over Sweet 18. She’s also collaborating with western artists such as Cobra Starship, Ke$ha, David Guetta, The Cataracs, and will.i.am. The first is set to be on the band’s lead single off of their debut album, “You Make Me Feel…” It’s a truly star-studded lineup that shows just how big Takahashi has gotten in the span of just a year and a half, and it’s clear she isn’t slowing down anytime soon. She’s said that she wants to collaborate with as many artists as she can, so we can’t wait to see what she has in store!

I put it under a cut because it’s quite long. I didn’t know who to tag because I’m so late to posting this with everything that has been going on. 

What’s your favorite sims death? I never thought of this one... Maybe death by pufferfish nigiri because the ghost has a little pufferfish floating inside them and I think that’s cute because I really like puffer fish (not to eat). I’d love to have a little puffer fish buddy with me in the afterlife.

Alpha CC or MaxisMatch? I lean towards MaxisMatch most in my game but I don’t mind the aesthetic of alpha either. There’s some nice alpha stuff out there.

Do you cheat your sims weight? I have only because no matter what I do, toddlers living on the long lifespan always gain a lot of weight (the calorie system in the game is kinda weird) but outside of that I haven’t (although I never adjusted Fern’s weight when she aged up because I just decided not to for no reason whatsoever).

Do you move objects? Yep! I could not live without it in Sims 4.

Favorite Mod? I don’t have one favorite mod so naming one is difficult. I could not enjoy this game without the majority of mods I have. More Traits In CAS is one of my faves because having those extra traits through the life stages has helped create some depth to my sims’ personalities, at least in my mind. It’s helped to keep my interest in playing longer than a few months.

Favorite EA hair? I don’t think I have one.... I have some I don’t care for... I just like that there’s finally a variety of hair types/styles that aren’t just straight hair.

Favorite life stage? I don’t think I have one... I have the most fun when I have a variety of life stages to play (although it can feel overwhelming sometimes).

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? Gameplay. I don’t mind building in Sims 4 but it’s rare when I’m having a good time doing it.

Are you a CC creator? Nope. I tried to recolour the kids’ bicycles and gave up. lol I might try again but I need the time and focus to do it.

Do you have any simblr friends/ a sim squad? I guess it depends on how those are defined since people define them differently. I do know a lot of really awesome people on here who I enjoy interacting with though. 🙂

What’s your favorite game? Right now it flips between Sims 4 and Genshin Impact. Used to also be Overwatch, which I still enjoy on occasion, but not as much as I used to.

How has your « sims style » changed throughout your years of playing? I went from creating haunted houses in TS1 to playing legacy style in Sims 2 and beyond (and creating a haunted house by more ethical means). I only ever managed to finish one legacy family to 10 generations and that family will forever be lost somewhere on Live Journal as it should be. (I have a picture chart of all their faces though.)

What’s your origin id? Simbico but I don’t have anything worth looking at on there. It’s usually for my own backups.

Who’s your favorite CC creator? It’s hard because I have so many I like and not just one favorite. 😭 But RavenSim is one of my many favorites because their hair helps make my sims’ infants/toddlers/kids even cuter!

How long have you had simblr? According to my first Sims 3 post, at least since 2011 but I did abandon it for a long time. I was so happy seeing some familiar simblrs still posting when I came back. 😊

How do you edit your pictures? I used to use Photoshop but now I just use Reshade. I use a really old version of Photoshop from 2012 for cropping and stuff but I tend to not do much more than that. I don’t have the time with the amount of pictures I take. lol

I can’t believe I have to defend Taehyung of all people but I’m pretty sure he has better Spotify numbers than Hybe’s nepo girls who get lots and lots of playlisting(OMG was on TTP over a year) with the money BTS made while every BTS member who isn’t Jk doesn’t get shit in terms of promo

Nj might be top in Sk (I’ll give them 2 more years max until the gp moves to a new group) but they are not more popular than Tae Internetionally or overall

They're not as popular as any BTS member and a BTS members solo fanbase is bigger than new jeans' whole fanbase but their music seems to be more popular. Honestly new jeans does not have a big fanbase, I think le sserafim has a more dedicated and bigger fanbase but new jeans has a lot of casual listeners and even people who don't listen to kpop listens to their music.

Tae will have better first day numbers on all major platforms except melon, but new jeans performs better in the long run which means they end up having bigger numbers after a few months.

New jeans is a wild card, I get this feeling that they gained popularity way too fast that it's going to fizzle out before their peers, but at the same time they could end up being another blackpink, a group with instant success but also with longevity. But I think even if they don't fizzle out, in no time there's going to be some other 4th gen group that will catch up with them internationally and their success will not seem so special anymore.

And groups like g-idle and Ive are actually on par with new jeans in Korea, some might even argue that Ive is bigger than new jeans in Korea but the success they got in the US makes everyone think they're the most successful 4th gen girlgroup in Korea when it's actually Ive.

New jeans already has competition in SK, the competition they need is another 4th gen girlgroup that consistently charts on Spotify global with an average of 3m streams. They had competition in fifty fifty but we know how that turned out and the only other girlgroup that seems to do great internationally right now is le sserafim but they're not quite new jeans level yet, and it seems to be a slow but steady climb for them.

On May first, Gnostic Hymns will be opening its doors becoming a fully fledged Hoyoverse RP Group.

We've heard your feedback, and we appreciate every opinion you have told us. The majority of you have expressed an interest in opening our little group up to the Hoyoverse at large, and so that is what we are going to do.

How will it work:

Teyvat will remain as it is, the only difference being mysterious portal-like holes beginning to spring up more often. Some say they are gateways into the Abyss, but only those brave enough to venture through one will ever find out.

In addition to Teyvat, however, GH's universe will now encompass the Sea of Quanta as well. Muses from Honkai: Star Rail as well as Honkai Impact 3rd will be allowed to come and traverse their home worlds as though nothing were amiss, as well as explore planets not yet charted.

In essence, these worlds exist separately. There is room for overlap by means of in universe travel, but no muse from any one universe will find their own to be dramatically impacted by another. As a roleplayer it is your choice whether or not your muse ever sets foot outside of their homeworld.

What will it look like for muses that are already apart of the group?

All muses currently active in Gnostic Hymns will remain on its masterlist unless dropped by their muns. No changes will be required, no threads will have to be dropped. It is business as usual in Teyvat.

Applications for Teyvat muses will remain open as usual until the change is officialized on May 1st.

What else is changing?

Talent points will remain the same, and to keep in line with what has been set up already, we will continue to use the terms Normal attack, Skill, and Burst in all official masterlist writing. For other game muses, we will lay out which abilities fall under which term.

Commission boards will also only be changing a little bit. We will maintain 10 prompts over the span of two months, but no longer will nation affiliation come into play. Boards will be divided between Teyvat and the Sea of Quanta, for muses from each to participate in. Now, the only requirement for threads will be that one participating muse be affiliated with the correct game,

To this end, Honkai: Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd muses will share a collective universe and affiliation.

Muse slots will be receiving an increase, allowing any single mun a maximum of 3 muses, with no more than 2 from any one game title.

NPCs will continue to be allowed under the same ruling as before, as well as characters that are set to become playable. This will apply to all games.

For those of you inquiring about NPCs and combat, don't worry. We haven't forgotten about you.

The application will be changing. We heard your complaints about tying muses to the Adventurers Guild, and with the expanding of our universe you will find that there is no longer a need to bend your character to work with them.

hi there, I hope ure doing great. I’m new to the fandom and would like to really really know something, and I feel that you re the right person to ask and could somehow educate me.

For GP, Niall and Louis were the weaker singers (not my words, I loved Louis songs and voice!), and the management also saw this. but why did Niall got an early engagement for his solo career but not Louis? and it seemed that he got all the correct support for the boost of his solo? Thanks!

I'll do my best anon - although I do struggle to know where you're coming from, because the assumptions you seem to be making about how things work are not ones I share.

You talk as if there was this huge gulf in their early solo careers - and I don't think there was. I think they were received reasonably similarly and given similar opportunities. If you look at the early singles there's not that much difference. In the UK, Louis' first singles reached 2 & 8 and Niall reached 9 & 8. There was a bit more of a difference on Billboard (although not a career defining amount) - and lots to be said about the different circumstances that they came out under. But I think what actually happened early in Louis' career has been largely erased by fans storytelling.

Onto those different circumstances - I almost feel like I need to check - you do know what happened to Louis in 2016 right? His mother was diagnosed in April or May, within a month they knew it was terminal and she died before the end of the year. Niall and Louis' life were incredibly different the first year out of One Direction. I genuinely don't know if people have forgotten this, when they ask questions like this, or if they expect that such events would have no impact on someone's life.

Because to me the biggest difference between Niall and Louis is that Niall knew what music he wanted to make and made it. Louis wasn't necessarily entirely sure and felt like he couldn't act upon it. Of course you're much more likely to be sure and confident about your direction if you've gone backpacking and then started recording an album, than if you've watched your mother die. There are almost certainly other factors (I encourage those who haven't to watch the full audition of Niall for X-factor - it's very enlightening). But it's not a mystery to me.

The other thing that's worth saying - is that there's not that much difference in their careers now. Niall has a bigger audience in the US (both resulting in and then further developed by the Voice I'm sure) and he's with a major label which comes with access to some things. But they're both artists who have a fanbase large enough so that albums chart well and make a sustainable living from touring. They've both had bad timing and bad luck and good times and good luck. I don't think there's any big mystery to be explained.

i think i am going through a particularly hard transition in my internal life. outgrowing friendships, reckoning with dozens of uncertainties, dealing with the shame and fear of letting go of the safe performance of straightness i held on to for years (i am not out to my whole family and only to some of my friends)...

and it keeps coming up, forcing me to think about it, as i go through milestones with the people in my life. i feel like i cannot ignore it like i have in the past

for ex.

i had two good friends/roommates six-ish years ago, and they're great. one moved across the country and the other stayed where i live, though they live pretty far away. we were a cute trio, though they were closer in age and in the same major/grew up in the same place, so they were always closer to each other than me.

we're all in different careers and now living in completely different parts of the country, so we naturally grew apart. definitely on me as well, i'm very bad at keeping up and don't do a lot of social media anymore. plus i realized i was bisexual a little bit ago, and they knew me purely as the straight girl undergrad (they're 3 yrs older than me). they were very much that brand of cishet college grad who study hard and party harder. so it was fun while we were in college.

years passed and tbh it became clear we were all going in different paths. their priorities were very much 1) career 2) get a man to get married 3) family, house etc. whereas i was 83749 steps behind not even knowing my own sexuality or even fathoming where i was going to be in five years... very much flying by the seat of my pants

i even told roommate 2, the one that lives far away, that i figured out i was bisexual and she was v happy for me. though when i speak to her now, she's very like... reticent to recognize that part of me? she's the type of woman that's like "my gaydar is so accurate!" if you know what i mean lmfao. she means well but it seems she's more comfortable pretending i never came out to her. i didn't tell r1 because we didn't really talk individually and i had always been closer to r2.

roommate 1 invited me to her wedding and me and my other former roommate were really excited. i even texted her when i got the invite like "yesss im so excited!"

cut to months later, when my roommate 2 was in town. we all got dinner together along with roommate 1's fiance (now husband). super nice guy, so glad to see them, it was like no time had passed

the next time R2 was in town, i recommended a place to get dinner. i made reservations. then day of, and R1 and her fiance say they can't make it. no worries, it was far, so i understood

when i hung out one on one with R2 instead, she told me they actually didn't want to go to the restaurant cause it was too expensive and they had to save for their wedding... and i was like oh shit i didn't realize that, i would have been fine going anywhere... i wish she had just told me that directly, and i wondered why she didn't

cut to months later, the actual wedding, which was this week. i get there with R2 who flew in from another state. her fiance greets roommate 2 when we get to the venue and completely ignores me. we'd only met once but i was still kind of taken aback

and then when we go to see where to sit on the tables, i'm not on the seating chart. i freak out, did i not RSVP? i realize i did, she must of just forgotten me on the list, but i of course am completely thrown off and feel so so so bad

i had to ask her like hey, im so sorry something must have happened, can i just sit next to R2? and she was like yes omfg of course when i saw you, i told my event coordinator right away, you have a seat! so it ended up fine

and the whole time i was there i felt myself sliding back to the person i was before-- straight acting among all these upper class new england white girls, unsure, putting up a facade of perfect mental health, etc.

when her husband came to say hi to us again after i was like "hey we met before!" and he just said "yeah that was a long time ago" which... was so uncomfortable, i had no idea what to say

the reception was fun and i think my roommate was totally fine and she was very happy.

but after i came back from the wedding i was like.. damn, that all felt really bad.

like, again, why no text? no call? no nothing? i texted her the second i got the invite. if my RSVP didn't go through through some glitch, why didn't she reach out to me?

it was kind of awful and i felt so bad, both for potentially being a nuisance on her big day and also because i finally felt the result of me not keeping in touch, from work or stress or mental illness. i just can't help but think, man, my anxiety and adhd are real detriments to my life. but i also thought, well, that's just the way it is sometimes. friends stop being compatible, friends drift apart.

i thought about texting her in a few weeks (she literally just got married so i would never come to her with my hurt feelings right now, asshole move on my part) to apologize, say hey, i think there was miscommunication and i hurt you-- maybe you didn't think i was coming to your wedding so it made youassume certain things so i apologize for that.. i hope we're ok

but then i realized that i don't even think it's worth the effort now. she's not a priority in my life anymore, either... which fills me with sadness.

just been thinking about that. i feel i have to draw a line in the sand with who i pretended to be my whole life. i STILL act like that around people who i'm not out around, and tbh im realizing that it's filling me with resentment. i don't want to feel that way. but fear holds me back.

I want to be the person i have been afraid to be. it means facing all my flaws and potential disability-- and ACCEPTING that i have a disability. it that probably means a lot more grief and a lot of hard transitions.

Okay, this may be a bit long from the questions, but I will do my best to answer them! Answers are below the cut!

1: Shinrei met the Matsu's from seeing them around the Akatsuka ward, but Totoko "introduced" her to them! (They begged to know who her new friend was and why she was a popular idol)

I have the scenario in mind that, in the standard fashion of the sextuplets, they were sort of watching Totoko (and eventually Nyaa) hang out with Shinrei from the sidelines much like when they stalk each other to see what the other brothers are doing. Eventually, after gathering enough information about Shinrei from watching and Todomatsu looking up information about her idol career online, they eventually get Totoko to agree to meet them formally at a mixer.

Totoko was a bit worried at first because obviously if they acted weird enough around herself already who KNOWS how they would've acted towards Shinrei, but she was surprised when they pulled through and restrained themselves for the majority of it!

(By the end though you could tell they were physically restraining themselves a lot tho lol) 2: Shinrei, much in a similar fashion to how Totoko and Nyaa were in the first two seasons, works as an international idol! She started her career while living with her mom in the US after she moved there post-high school-graduation, posting some of the music and songs she had begun composing and writing throughout her early adult years. (The reason why I made Shinrei an idol was in part of me wanting to make the girls a trio, but also because of the symbolic nature it could have, with Totoko using fish, Nyaa using cats, and Shinrei using skeletons for their branding. I mentioned this earlier in the tags of a post, but I didn't elaborate on it further than that until now.)

She moves back to Japan not only because she misses home, but she is hosting a mid-summer concert to celebrate the new season a few months later! The fanon season 4 would follow the events leading up to the show, in which it went from a one-idol concert to 3 idols and 6 sextuplets performing near the center of the Akatsuka ward. 3: Much like with the rest of them, it was a pretty slow-burn relationship process with Jyushi and Shinrei. Like AGONIZINGLY slow.

Shinrei was very skittish when first introduced to the Matsu's, and coupled with Jyushi's excited and energetic personality, it made getting used to things a bit harder than she anticipated. I don't see Jyushi being too inconsiderate or oblivious to the fact, so I do think he notices things he does that would ward her off, so he does try to be as gentle as he could at the beginning of their friendship. The fake-official art I posted earlier last month is sort of a demonstration of this, where they took a day to spend time together and outline things that they weren't okay with the other doing or would make the friendship a bit less rocky. I do have a semi-finished relationship chart with all the Matsu's that helps define their dynamic together (along with Jyushi) a bit more, but as I said it's semi-finished since it was done a little bit ago.

Ohh but when they did get closer than friends though... Jyushi definitely likes to walk around with Shinrei and do various physical activities together, like hiking or playing some favorite sports of Jyushi's. They would definitely have that "we hold hands, hug a lot, sometimes kiss each other on the cheek and say I love you but we aren't considered official" dynamic later on (BECAUSE IM A SUCKER FOR THAT TROPE) As for when it does get more serious, I think Jyushi would be the one to say it first out of the two. Jyushi doesn't end up mentioning this fact to ANYONE though until his brothers see him running up to Shinrei and kissing her straight on without hesitation (Which would be considered context for that kiss doodle I posted earlier). 4: She does! Well, partially.

She lives by herself a couple blocks outside the main area where the main cast lives, closer to the outskirts of the town.

Forgive me for taking so long to reply but I really wanted to do this justice with a thorough analysis and of course I thought it would be nice to include the Oricon weekly chart results for Hikaru's album (~930 copies sold within the first week). Please note that this is not really a professional analysis. I’ve tried to provide all the key data in an objective manner but at the end of the day, these are just my personal opinions.Without further ado, let’s get to it〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→

Wakana - 1st Album "Wakana"

Label: Victor Entertainment 2019.03.20 RELEASE [~1 month after her major solo debut] 11 tracks (9 previously unreleased; lyrics provided for 6 tracks) RE ¥3,300 | LE-A ￥3,850 | LE-B ￥5,280

Discussion: Wakana and her team really did not waste any time which was definitely a good idea since they were able to make use of a lot of the left-over Kalafina momentum. There was a ton of media coverage with all sorts of appearances which helped promote the release. The ensuing VOICE tour was also a great incentive to make people buy more copies. It’s a ballad-heavy album with little to no experimental or challenging stuff and as such quite homogeneous but that’s not necessarily a bad thing since people already associated her with this sort of music. Not straying too far from people’s expectations with your first few solo releases is actually a really smart move if you wanna keep your loyal fans happy and continue to sell copies. Despite the arguably overwhelming amount of slow songs, the album has some really solid tracks and is surprisingly well-balanced with a variety of styles that all suit Wakana’s voice very well. Overall, I would say that it is pretty reminiscent of “Kalafina’s Wakana, i.e. ballad queen” and as such has made it relatively easy to slowly ease her fans into her solo work. My only nit-pick, I probably would have replaced “Toki no Ne” with “Ato Hitotsu” which is a much superior song. As far as bonus content is concerned, this is a very good release since it includes a PV, a making-of, instrumentals as well as gorgeous photo booklets/books. No matter which version you go for, you get your money’s worth and in this case it actually pays off to buy all three versions because the RE contains some of the prettiest pictures in its lyric photo booklet. I do not presume to be an expert when it comes to lyric writing but I think for a first attempt, the lyrics are pretty good and she did more than half of the songs herself which I find impressive. They are unpretentious (dare I say simple?) and mostly coherent but at the same time quite poetic so what’s not to like?

Discussion: Keiko’s timing was a little unfortunate since she started her solo activities at the height of the pandemic which may or may not have affected sales negatively. There was a considerable amount of media appearances, an online release event and a small live but COVID regulations most likely stopped them from doing even more. Among the three of them, Keiko had the most traditional release schedule. First she released two singles to whet everyone’s appetite and then after a reasonable amount of time, she dropped her album. Not sure if this was such a good idea since the style of her singles felt a bit jarring to long-time fans, it definitely wasn’t what fans were hoping for. Which I guess is the running theme for her entire album. The whole thing feels like a mixture of randomly thrown-together mediocre tracks, no overarching theme, no structure, no personality, nothing that screams “Keiko” to me. For the most part the music doesn’t do anything to highlight Keiko’s vocals, quite the contrary actually, the key of some of these songs is outright unflattering. Having Yuki Kajiura attached to the project helped a bit in terms of promotion but even her song wasn’t outstanding so it didn’t do much to increase the overall quality of the album. It also felt like a cop-out to include an acoustic version of “Akane” just to get to 11 tracks. The bonus content (including a PV, some live footage as well as a mini LP) is pretty good but I am not sure it justifies the rather steep price for the limited editions, especially since they don’t even come with different fancy photo booklets. There is literally no point in getting the regular edition or even the LE-A if you want all the juicy content. It’s a shame that Keiko only did the lyrics for three songs. Again, I wouldn’t wanna judge her skills but one thing is for sure, I have a very hard time translating her lyrics because they are often a bit too vague. Make of that whatever you will.

Hikaru - 1st Album "Kaihōku"

Discussion: This album is long-overdue and I fear Hikaru has lost a lot of her momentum throughout the years. They probably wanted to wait until she had collected a bunch of anime tie-ins but I am afraid that backfired a little bit. Despite three of her four anisongs being pretty solid, they were sadly all used in mediocre shows so it’s not like they were any good for proper promotion. Speaking of promotion, as of the time I am writing this, there has been zero substantial media coverage of her album release, no media appearances whatsoever. At least they organised release events as well as an online sign event so kudos to her promotion team for that! Regarding the album as a whole, I am quite satisfied with the outcome. A majority of the tracks have had time to marinate so the release feels more earned and personal I guess? The album is not as edgy or daring as its title would suggest though which is a wasted opportunity. Still, there is a decent variety and some cool new styles. However, I am low-key offended that they didn’t include her best B-side, “Determination”, in the album. While I don’t mind “landscape”, it’s slightly boring compared to the epicness of “Determination”. Or they could have just dropped “Pulsation”? I understand the wish to include her unofficial debut song in her first official full album but let’s be real here, the song isn’t anything to write home about. The bonus content on the LE is neat but the RE is absolutely useless. Again, no fancy photo booklets. Why? Hikaru is probably the most skilled when it comes to lyric writing and story-telling or at the very least, the most devoted? This is another reason why this album feels very much like it is representative of the current “Hikaru”. It’s just a shame that she didn’t write the lyrics for any of the new songs.

it is cheating cause the last time I checked other artists on spotify aren't charting cause of so many versions combined to inflate streams intentionally . The numbers he gets are just unrealistic, now if you see 3d with one version got the exact same streams as jimin's bside smf in the subsequent days . Even for seven the 20m streams on first day were just so unrealistic cause even bts didn't get it during the peak of their careers in the pandemic when armys had a lot of free time. SB spent a lot of money on unskippable spotify ads , playlisting and autoplay. With 3d he reduced the payola a little and you can already see the song doing worse than like crazy with a single version despite being top 5 on tth which jimin did not have. He's even doing horribly on youtube when jjks were so confident that his "gp" would show up for 3d. He's literally doing the same kind of numbers as the other members without the inflation of streams yet he is being called the most commercially successful member on the charts? If his songs were actual gp hits he wouldn't be holding stationhead parties a month after sevens release. These numbers are only there to convince people he's bigger than bts when he's not even close.

Seven's 20 mill streams in the first days were done with just 2 versions (clean and explicit), and while the ads for sure boosted the numbers, I think many people genuinely tuned for the release. Before LC's streams were divided, they were around 7 mill.

No song starts as a "gp hit." It has to get there. Ofc the majority of the streams for any BTS release come from the fandom, so listening parties help. That doesn't mean that by now, the GP hasn't picked up Seven, considering it is very stable on BB 100 (11th week on the chart). Plus, even among the fandom, some songs are more listened to than others. Even without any adds, I'd say Seven would still pull higher numbers than let's say People pt 2.

I would say that 3D's numbers being lower than Seven, has many factors to it, one of them being that many people don't like JH part, hence are not streaming the song at all or are listening more to the alternative version.

Art vs Artist 2022 and Yearly Recap

It’s been awhile since I’ve done an art v artist, and even longer since I’ve done a year recap.

2022 was a strange year, and as a 21 year old I’m in a very strange stage of life. So much of my future is uncertain, and a lot happened just this year. I’ve got smarter, I’ve made new friends, got traumatized, and learned that I might even have ptsd (unrelated to the trauma thing). It feels weird that it’s almost over.

Twitter turned to shit, and the tumblr kept getting better.

So many of my loved ones are getting older, and I’m contemplating mortality more than I’d like as a result.

One of my snakes burnt himself on a malfunctioning heat lamp and has a blister, and my family is treating him (so far he’s okay and he should be fine).

I can drink alcohol now, but the only ones I like are basically sodas that barely have alcohol in them.

I got my first jobs this year and also graduated as a certified electrician. My first job was working in an assembly line for Honda, and oh my god those were the most miserable 100 days of my life (and because it was a temp service I wasn’t getting paid fully or getting insurance benefits in a VERY unsafe work environment). That shit traumatized me (THIS is the trauma thing, not the ptsd thing) and now I’m very picky with jobs. I then got a job I actually did like, but after a month got fired because my boss constantly forgot to re-order stock and so we were unable to complete orders and people were withdrawing theirs and we were running out of stuff to do, so my boss was losing money and decided to just fire the newest hire to save money. But he didn’t have the balls to tell me the actual reason or do it directly, so one of the accountants had to basically pull me aside and say my boss was firing me “because I didn’t look happy”. That same weekend he took 2 employees out of state to do everything for him at a convention for 12 hours for 2 days; they each got paid 200 dollars, he made 60,000. Let me tell you, having to put on your resume that you only worked at your last job for a month makes it basically impossible to get hired.

This was also the first year I actually took commissions, so I guess I’m *technically* a professional artist? I also made a patreon, but it’s been up for like half a year and I still don’t have subscribers.

This year I also made some major leaps in my artistic skills (and in biological knowledge) and I’d consider myself a good artist. I have a very good understanding of anatomy and proportions now and can draw some special effects. But it also doesn’t feel enough at times and I secretly can get a little green eyed when I see other artists or creature designers (or professional biologists).

I didn’t get as much work done with personal projects as I’d have liked, executive dysfunction does that to a man, but I did get major stuff done. I even wrote an overview for my first book in my GUARDIANverse IP! I’m also getting better at not getting sidetracked and am slowly chipping away at my extensive to do list of smaller not as important projects. The god children gverse thing will be moved to next year. I even illustrated and finalized what I hope to one day turn into a vtuber model (the flesh god).

I’m still pretty far from my pipe dream of making money on the side as an author, having a Bogleech type website, and streamer, but I’ve made progress. I make skulls and charts for the Unnatural History Channel, I’ve been his top moderator, and generally help out sometimes, so my stuff is being exposed to a larger audience.

I also hand picked the chillest people out of the UHC server and made my own server, and finally after 2 years of not having a friend group, I finally have one. And I’m actually entirely comfortable around them! Which is big deal for me because after one too many bad personal experiences I have a hard time trusting people and am constantly analyzing them for red flags, but with the UHC crew (aka the “Poopenshitters” yes that’s the name of our friend group) I feel 100% safe (also I’m the ring leader which is cool). Pathetic? Yes. But is it a huge step for me? YES ABSOLUTELY.

And of course my friendship with dappercritter grows stronger each year.

2022 was also a great year for Kaiju content, especially in games. Also weirdly enough 2022 was the year of gigan, but that’s not unwelcome.

Sunbreak also came out, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it.

Well, 2022 is coming to a close. It was a weird year, but I’m growing, and hopefully the world is too.
