2023
I honestly do not remember the first half of my 2023. January started with me celebrating with my cousins.
All i know is till April, 2023 was rather filled with loneliness, broken self expectations, broken friendship, anxiety and academic failure.
Some of the good moments of 2023:
Tumblr media
I think from May, 2023 got better. I travelled, i got closer to my cousins, i made memories with them, i picked myself up from failure, i found my genuine friends, i filtered people out, i realised more, i got more mature yadda yadda yadda.
I think some of the key highlights of my 2023 would be
I got into Anime that i never thought i would.
i stopped thinking bout unaliving myself.
I started appreciating life more and just living more.
I made a lot of doggo friends.
Having my people who matched my clown-liness and just dumbness.
Connecting more with my roots and pahadi culture.
Being more at peace and slightly choosing peace over chaos.
I got out of unhealthy eating habits and rut and actually consistently got into fitness and working out.
Actually not caring about the outside stuff.
Connecting more with my religion and being more spiritual.
Working on myself with positive mindset for the first time in my life as far as i remember.
2023 was not bad or good it was just 2023 yk. Like bad stuff happened but good stuff happened and i just got more mature so yes.

I just made an overview of the 21 fics I updated in 2023 (can be found here) and like last year, I've got an overview over what I've posted to the various stories below.
Tumblr media
This was the year where Stray Kids barged through and almost completely took over. My biggest fandoms word count wise was Stray Kids with 286k, Seventeen with 69k, Phandom with 41k and BTS with 11k. The rest have all got under 10k to their name, but I must admit that I'm surprised that skz have been amounted to so many! It's definitely my skz wolfpack with it's two long prologue pulling the weight and that universe is so big and fun to play around with. It's definitely a story I look forward to writing more in 2024.
This year I also finished my big svt mafia AU and that fic has been so fun to write, and I don't think I'm quite done with it yet. My beloved Stardew AU didn't get updated much and phandom has been pushed aside a bit this year but with DnP making a glorious return to the gaming channel, I foresee more writing for them this coming year. I've also dipped my toe with writing for four new fandoms (Legend of Zelda, Good Omens, Nimona, Baldur's Gate 3).
I posted a total of 451k works throughout this year, and I wanted to share the comparison to the other years I've tracked my writing below. Not my most prolific year, but still a very impressive feat!
Tumblr media
Thank you to anyone who've read my stories in 2023 and I can see on AO3 that so many people have found my writing this year, which warms my heart. All of the stories I've posted this year have been lovely to share with you all.

Making this my official
YEARLY NEW YEARS SELF-RECAP POST
my YNYSRP, as it were. which is a very common word acronym, as you all know.
What does YNYSRP consist of, you ask?
It's nothing more than a tiny bit of a tradition I had on the dark, awful times of.... TWITTER *shudders* but only now have I given it a name.
Basically, what I do is, after 12am of New Years, I wrote a message to myself with my thoughts on the year that is ending, and schedule it to post at exactly 12am of the next New Years.
By the time I read it, I have forgotten what I wrote, and it kinda just brings me a big smile to read what past me was up to, as well as to check on my current progress in whatever goal/s I have made for that year, if any at all!

FJWJDJSJS ITS BEEN ANOTHER YEAR AND WE'RE GETTING OLDER AJDJWJSJJW
Tumblr media
God, we're getting older, aren't we?
Yet, with every year, we grow.
I didn't have a lot of time this year to draw, but I'm glad for the ones I was able to.
I'm happy with this, and I hope you will be, too.
The template is from @taxkha and the link to their template is here!
Technically, the December art is November art, but I spent December animating so I didn't have anything to show for it, and it feels like December art to me, so we're just going to move past that.
Links for the Art:
No link for January apparently?
February
None for March
April
May
June
July
August
September (blog header)
October
November
December
Happy new year guys! Hope to see you in 2024!

I've been doing yearly diary entries for 12 years, finishing each of them with a self-portrait. funnily, none of them look like me (though 2020-2022 are close enough)

2023 reading recap
in reviewing my year in books, it seems like most everything was kind of so-so, with far less stand outs than previous years. I also read less than I wanted, mostly because graduating law school, taking the bar exam, and starting a full time job as a staff attorney was rather time consuming. that said, my top five books this year:
The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz (contains an extremely accurate depiction of Vermont's beloved/beloathed RutVegas, and was one of three mystery/suspense novels about novels I read this year, the other two being Who is Maud Dixon? and The Writing Retreat)
Natural Beauty by Ling Ling Huang (funny, gross, self optimization but make it body horror and racism)
Sisters of the Vast Black by Lina Rather (queer space nuns against imperialism)
The Children on the Hill by Jennifer McMahon (frankenstein but the horror is actually the history of eugenics in Vermont and also psychiatry, not the monsters)
Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots (Nimona but with even more villains and more queerness and more disability)
interestingly, the last three were all December reads. Hench was possibly my favorite book this year--highly highly recommend.
my goal for 2024 is to read more weird creepy queer horror. if you have any recs, please share--the creepier the better.

Happy New Year, lovelies! These are the best books I read in 2022. (Many of them didn’t actually come out this year, and I don’t count rereads.) I read and fell in love with a lot of graphic novels this year, along with a lot of my usual horror! I participated in two challenges for Forgotten YA Gems (now on Discord!): the Annual Reading Challenge and the Summer Bingo Challenge. I also did a horror challenge for Books in the Freezer and participated in a group readalong of The Pale King by David Foster Wallace at the DFW Discord.
I also kept to my blogging goals of participating in at least one prompt for Tell Me Something Tuesday and posting one Readalike each month! It was a much better blogging year for me than the last, and it's been nice to enjoy reading and reviewing again. For now, I'm not setting my goals any higher in the hopes that it stays fun!
My favorite books of the year, in order of category and then favorite:
YA: Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall The Wicker King by K. Ancrum Our Last Echoes by Kate Alice Marshall Even If We Break by Marieke Nijkamp House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland
Adult: What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas The Goblins of Bellwater by Molly Ringle The Shadow Glass by Josh Winning The Whisper Man by Alex North
Graphic Novels: Hawkeye, Volume 1: My Life as a Weapon by Matt Fraction Captain America: Winter Soldier, Ultimate Collection by Ed Brubaker Castaway In Dimension Z, Book One by Rick Remender Runaways, Vol. 1: Find Your Way Home by Rainbow Rowell Runaways, Vol. 2: Best Friends Forever by Rainbow Rowell Winter Soldier: The Complete Collection by Ed Brubaker Hellblazer, Vol. 1: Original Sins by Jamie Delano
Fanfiction: Not Easily Conquered by dropdeaddream & WhatAreFears
Happy reading in 2023!

Art vs Artist 2022 and Yearly Recap
It’s been awhile since I’ve done an art v artist, and even longer since I’ve done a year recap.
2022 was a strange year, and as a 21 year old I’m in a very strange stage of life. So much of my future is uncertain, and a lot happened just this year. I’ve got smarter, I’ve made new friends, got traumatized, and learned that I might even have ptsd (unrelated to the trauma thing). It feels weird that it’s almost over.
Twitter turned to shit, and the tumblr kept getting better.
So many of my loved ones are getting older, and I’m contemplating mortality more than I’d like as a result.
One of my snakes burnt himself on a malfunctioning heat lamp and has a blister, and my family is treating him (so far he’s okay and he should be fine).
I can drink alcohol now, but the only ones I like are basically sodas that barely have alcohol in them.
I got my first jobs this year and also graduated as a certified electrician. My first job was working in an assembly line for Honda, and oh my god those were the most miserable 100 days of my life (and because it was a temp service I wasn’t getting paid fully or getting insurance benefits in a VERY unsafe work environment). That shit traumatized me (THIS is the trauma thing, not the ptsd thing) and now I’m very picky with jobs. I then got a job I actually did like, but after a month got fired because my boss constantly forgot to re-order stock and so we were unable to complete orders and people were withdrawing theirs and we were running out of stuff to do, so my boss was losing money and decided to just fire the newest hire to save money. But he didn’t have the balls to tell me the actual reason or do it directly, so one of the accountants had to basically pull me aside and say my boss was firing me “because I didn’t look happy”. That same weekend he took 2 employees out of state to do everything for him at a convention for 12 hours for 2 days; they each got paid 200 dollars, he made 60,000. Let me tell you, having to put on your resume that you only worked at your last job for a month makes it basically impossible to get hired.
This was also the first year I actually took commissions, so I guess I’m *technically* a professional artist? I also made a patreon, but it’s been up for like half a year and I still don’t have subscribers.
This year I also made some major leaps in my artistic skills (and in biological knowledge) and I’d consider myself a good artist. I have a very good understanding of anatomy and proportions now and can draw some special effects. But it also doesn’t feel enough at times and I secretly can get a little green eyed when I see other artists or creature designers (or professional biologists).
I didn’t get as much work done with personal projects as I’d have liked, executive dysfunction does that to a man, but I did get major stuff done. I even wrote an overview for my first book in my GUARDIANverse IP! I’m also getting better at not getting sidetracked and am slowly chipping away at my extensive to do list of smaller not as important projects. The god children gverse thing will be moved to next year. I even illustrated and finalized what I hope to one day turn into a vtuber model (the flesh god).
I’m still pretty far from my pipe dream of making money on the side as an author, having a Bogleech type website, and streamer, but I’ve made progress. I make skulls and charts for the Unnatural History Channel, I’ve been his top moderator, and generally help out sometimes, so my stuff is being exposed to a larger audience.
I also hand picked the chillest people out of the UHC server and made my own server, and finally after 2 years of not having a friend group, I finally have one. And I’m actually entirely comfortable around them! Which is big deal for me because after one too many bad personal experiences I have a hard time trusting people and am constantly analyzing them for red flags, but with the UHC crew (aka the “Poopenshitters” yes that’s the name of our friend group) I feel 100% safe (also I’m the ring leader which is cool). Pathetic? Yes. But is it a huge step for me? YES ABSOLUTELY.
And of course my friendship with dappercritter grows stronger each year.
2022 was also a great year for Kaiju content, especially in games. Also weirdly enough 2022 was the year of gigan, but that’s not unwelcome.
Sunbreak also came out, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it.
Well, 2022 is coming to a close. It was a weird year, but I’m growing, and hopefully the world is too.

2022 Wrap Up Post
Tumblr media
Physical stuff:
Worked out at least once every week; had 2 weeks where I didn't do any yoga, but got really close to that one; trained for two 10Ks, didn't PR but felt good and got 1st place in my age group for the one; hit the 500k! Barely! With a run on NYE!; didn't get either of the stretch goals but that's okay.
Financial stuff:
Umm... basically completely changed these goals over the course of the year. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But still saved a bunch of money and significantly increased my income.
Personal development stuff:
Currently sitting at a 930 day Duolingo streak and made a point of doing new lessons instead of just redoing an easy one to keep the streak up; running with audiobooks makes this one simple 😊; started violin lessons in February and am still working on that; didn't use up all my old fabric but did a lot better on not buying new fabric unless I knew exactly what I was going to make with it, and then actually doing it.
I try to set my goals for things that shouldn't be difficult to accomplish but will need some direction and focus to achieve. This is telling me that I did a decent job of that in 2022, but also need to more clearly outline my a/b/c and stretch goals.
