Enchanted Chapter I
Next>
“Why did I agree to come again?”
Was the thought running through the heads of two people, neither knowing how the night would end for them.
“I don’t believe I’ve ever seen you in one of these events, miss…”
“MDC, Monsieur. You can refer to me as MDC”
“Right… MDC you say…”
“...”
“So, what brings you to the Wayne Gala this year? Oh,I hope you understand the curiosity, it is the first time you’re participating in the event after all.”
Just because you make it sound polite, it doesn’t mean you’re actually being polite you-
To say Marinette was done with the fake and pretentious high-class pigs was the understatement of the century.
Just because you have enough money to be invited here doesn’t mean you’re all that. It just means that M. Wayne will have more money to donate to the associations that will actually use it for something productive.
But then again, she too was invited so it’s not like she can say much. However, she never covered her words with honey to insult someone.
“I’m here as M. Stone’s plus one” “Wasn’t M. Stone’s plus one his manager Ms. Rolling?”
“No! Haven’t you heard? This year he invited his  designer!”
Here comes the gossip…
“You mean the very exclusive designer known for working with Clara Nightingale and being the only one capable of keeping up with his extravagant personality?”
“I hear they keep themselves anonymous and so never go to galas and such even though many high-profile personalities invite them everytime.”
“THAT designer?”
The way they all turned to look at her could only be described as a predator ready to launch on their prey.
The compliments were very appreciated, even if her confidence sometimes made her think otherwise. Honestly, if it were in any other situation she’d probably be a blushing and sputtering mess, but considering that it came from these old people with nothing to do but flaunt their money all day, well, lets just say that she felt no remorse in putting the mask of professionalism that often came with dealing with annoying press *cough*Alya*cough* as Ladybug. She just wasn’t sure if the red and gold mask was enough to cover the glare she was sure was on her face. It sure wasn’t enough to cover the deadly annoyed aura she emitted.
“Yes, I-”
“M! There you are! Dad and Penny are looking for you!”
“Oh, Luka! I’ll be right with you! I’m sorry ladies and gentlemen, it seems I’m needed somewhere else. Wouldn’t want to leave M. Stone waiting now would we?”
If Marinette saw the pale faces of the people remembering a certain disaster pertaining to the impatience of one Jagged Stone, neither her nor Luka mentioned anything. And so, the pair of best friends left the group of pretentious old people to their gossip and judging words covered with honey so thick it might as well give you cavities. “Is Uncle Jagged really calling for me?”
“No, but I had to intervene, you looked ready to murder those people with your glare alone!” Luka said with a chuckle. “Ugh! Stop laughing, it’s not funny! Why did I even agree to come again! This is exactly why I’ve rejected all of the invitations!!”
“Well, you know how dad can be…” another chuckle
“Don’t I?! He threatened to destroy one of the suits I made him! And not just any suit, but the one specifically  made to open the stage on his upcoming tour!”
“It can’t be that bad, I mean, you made them almost 100% Jagged proof so no accidents could happen right? Even if he tried I’m pretty sure it’d be very difficult to damage them beyond repair”
“Oh no, you don't understand. He threatened to have Fang “play” with the suit! I may have made them Jagged proof, but they’re hardly CROCODILE PROOF!!”
“... You don’t really believe he’d go that far,do you?”
“Oh dear Luka, I don’t need to believe, I know so. And you want to know how I know that? Because he actually had the audacity of sending a picture of the suit dangling in front of Fang and the little menace looking at it like the most delicious snack ever!!!”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, oh.”
The silence that fell upon them was the comfortable kind, the one that wraps you like a warm blanket on a cold evening. Even though their relationship didn’t work, they didn’t let that get in the way of a very understanding friendship. Both parties know how to appreciate and lift each other up when needed, especially with the weight of the responsibilities held in their shoulders.
“I think I'm going to stay on the side for a bit. I'm pretty sure if I have to continue another one of these fake conversations, I'm going to say or do something I'll regret and maybe get Uncle Jagged in trouble.”
“It’s ok, after a couple months of following dad to these things I know how bad they can be. And by the way, you - more than anyone else really - should know that my dad doesn’t need you being honest with these people to get him in trouble. He gets himself in trouble all the time! Honestly, I can't say with 100% certainty that trouble isn’t somehow his middle name.” The snort that followed this comment was somehow covered well enough to look elegant, how he did it? She’s still trying to figure it out.
“Yeah, I’m well aware” a soft smile appears on Marinette’s face, memories of various chaotic fittings coming to mind when thinking of her honorary uncle. Sometimes she wonders how Jagged and Anarka managed to give birth to the most quiet (and shy, in Juleka’s case) kids she knows, considering their personalities! Kagami is the only exception to the rule since her quietness and composure comes from years of training and discipline.
“I have to go find dad, you know he needs someone to keep him in check and Penny is trying to get a night to herself. Are you sure you’ll be ok?”
“Yes, I'll be fine. Go find him and help Penny keep the few years that Jagged has yet to make her lose to stress” Marinette said with a giggle.
“Ok, but be safe. If you need anything just call and I’ll be right here.”
“I didn’t know I brought my mum with me.” She said with a roll of her eyes “Don’t worry, I’ll just stay on the side of the room, I’ll even text you if I decide to go and check if the gardens are as amazing as they claim.”
“Ok. I’ll see you in a bit then, you know dad wants to introduce you to his friend.”
“Oui, oui, now leave so I can people watch and judge if these macarons are good enough.”
After one last reluctant look at the petite girl he now considers a sister, Luka left to find his dad.
Marinette walks to the table holding the array of snacks and picks up a pink macaron, turning it side to side judging its appearance first and then taking a small bite. It’s not as good as the ones she bakes with her parents back home, but considering all she has eaten in the US in the past week, suffice to say that it was up to her standards. She would not mind having a second one.
Resting her back against the marble pillar at the corner of the room, she settles with people watching for the time being. Wandering bluebell eyes land on the group of kids on the other side of the room where they were playing with each other, before spotting the tall ginger gentleman in a crouch speaking with a little girl. At first she was suspicious, but judging by the little she can see of the interaction - the little girl giggling at something the man said - she relaxes a bit more, guessing it’s someone she knows or is acquainted with.
After people watching for a couple moments more, she gets bored and decides to indeed check the famous Martha Wayne Gardens, perhaps she’ll even get a strike of inspiration, who knows. Sending a message to Luka so he doesn’t worry,  she moves along to the exit, unaware of the little green eyes following her form.
-----------------------------
Roy Harper was definitely not listening to Jason Todd ever again. No matter what.
“It’ll be fun!” he said.
“I’ll be there with you the whole time!” he said.
“Lian will have fun!” he said-
Ok, that last one is true. She is enjoying herself and playing with kids her age outside of school. But still, WHY DID I AGREE TO COME TO ONE OF THESE THINGS? The suits are uncomfortable, the people are annoying, Jason is off somewhere (probably at the bar avoiding the dangling pieces of meat that can’t seem to understand the word ‘no’) the list goes on and on!
Turning around, Roy leaves to go check on the kids. He knows he doesn’t need to worry, the Waynes would obviously only get the best of the best, security included, so he knows his daughter is in good hands. But he still prefers it when he has eyes on his little girl, no need for unnecessary troubles…
And Jason can make fun of how she has him wrapped around her pinky all he wants, later.
Not like you can say much right, Uncle Jay Jay?
Going up to the little kids group, Lian spots him immediately and runs up to him, mischief clear in the same green eyes he sees everyday in the mirror.
“Hey baby. Everything good?”
“Of course daddy, I’m a big girl now! You don't need to go around worrying about me!” she exclaimed, puffing her little chest up and making herself seem taller to get her point across.
“I know princess. I’m sorry for doubting your capability of not getting yourself in trouble or not creating chaos”
“*le gasp* Daddy!” The grin that appeared on his face betrayed the look in his eyes. He would do anything to protect his little girl, mischievous or not. He’d do anything for her, hunt the whole world down for whatever she asked and from whoever had it, if only to be able to keep that smile on her little face everyday.
“I don’t get in trouble! Trouble is the one to always find me! What do you want me to do, ignore it? You yourself said that it was rude to ignore people..”
Oh Lord. She knew exactly what she was doing, and there was absolutely nothing he could do, so with a resigned sigh he looked up at his daughter again and cleans the little bit of cream from the pastry she was eating earlier.
“Was the cream puff so good that even your cheeks wanted a bite?”
“Yes! You should try some yourself!” The little giggle she released hid the glance she threw at the masked lady on the other side of the room.
“Let's go then.”
—----------------------------------------------
Glancing around, the gardens were indeed quite beautiful. It’s a pity that Martha Wayne passed away, because even though it’s been years since the accident and someone else is in charge of it, it’s very obvious that the foundation of the garden is still the same as it was some twenty years ago.
With the care she is sure the gardens receive everyday, she can see why they’re called the best gardens in Gotham after the Gotham Botanical Gardens. But that is only because it’s Ivy who’s taking care of them - it doesn’t matter how good you may be at caring for plants, no one can beat Poison Ivy’s ability of bringing them to the best of their potential.
It’s not long after moving around the gardens that Marinette hears her name being shouted from the entrance of it.
guess it’s time to go back to that insanity. It was good while it lasted
Getting up from the bench she found around one of the several fountains, she fixed her dress and moved back inside.
——————————————-
Seeing Lian try and “sneak” another cream puff from him, Roy decides that that’s enough.
“Come on little troublemaker, enough cream puffs. Your daddy won’t be able to endure another sugar high session.”
Ladies and gentlemen and non-binary people, this single statement brings forth the most challenging battle Roy has ever fought - and if you know about his… nightly past time, you know that he’s had several and very complicated battles, some even had him on the brink of death!
I introduce you, ‘The Pout’, by Lian Harper!
Obviously, Roy can never say no to his precious little girl. Who would be able to after seeing ‘The Pout’. At this point, not even Jason can say he’s managed to achieve such a feat!
“Princess, baby, light of my life, don’t do this to me. Please!”
“But daddy, just one more!” ‘The Pout’ intensifies…
“You said that last time too…”
“I promise! I’ll even get away from the table! We can go outside to the gardens!”
If Roy wasn’t so desperate to get his daughter away from the pastry and snacks table, he would have been able to identify the glint that appeared in his daughter’s eyes whenever she was up to no good. But alas, he was too busy.
“Ok honey, one last one and that’s that! You promised!”
“Yes, yes. Now let’s go into the gardens! I saw a fairy move there and I DEFINITELY need to meet her!”
“… a fairy?” The look of confusion on his face spoke volumes.
“YES! She was wearing a gold and red dress! And her hair was so pretty too! It shone in the light! I’m pretty sure only fairies’ hair shines like that!”
Thinking it was another one of Lian’s fairytail settings where he’s required to play along and help her uncover mysteries or save someone (*cough*princess Lian*cough*), Roy just sets her down, holds her hands and guides her to the closest balcony. It’s too cold outside for them to actually walk around the garden, but it’ll be fine to stay on the balcony where they can oversee them. Should be enough for whatever adventure Lian’s mind conjured this time.
—--------------------------
“Daddy look! It’s the fairy!”
Looking out the balcony towards where Lian's small fingers pointed, Roy finally understood what she meant when she said she saw a fairy.
There, standing in front of the fountain with a glass of what he can only assume to be the expensive champagne being handed around the party, stood the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid his eyes upon. Luscious strands of midnight hair fell down her back only to stop at the small curvature of her back. The strands were so dark it shone blue in the light of the full moon that for once was visible in the dark, gloomy and foggy sky of good old Gotham.
Her red dress fell down to the crisp grass he was sure Alfred kept at the exact same even height every single time. Whoever made the dress, knew for sure what they were doing, because it seemed to float even though he saw it drag through the grass  when she moved. Although there wasn't much he could make out from the distance he was observing her, he could still see the shine of the gold lining and details in the dress with the small movements she made.
And wasn't that a blessing. Because when she moved, he was able to see a bit more of her features; the pale skin that seemed to glisten in the moonlight, and the blue orbs that shone as bright as the bluest of sapphires to have ever been found, looked in his direction, and he was sure that time stopped right then and there.
Like some kind of spell, he was entranced by the beauty that stood feet away from him surrounded by the most beautiful of greenery, making her fit for the word his daughter had used to describe her: a fairy. A Garden Fairy. He should tell Alfred that he did such a good job at keeping the garden in shape, that it was blessed by the presence of the most ethereal of fairies.
After a couple seconds of eye contact, her attention was given to something else - probably someone calling her, from the way she seemed to react. And so, after another glance his way, the Garden Fairy (as he’s decided to call her until he finds out her name) turns fully towards the building and starts walking inside, finally vanishing under the big balcony he was standing in.
“Awww, she left Daddy!” his daughter spoke for the first time since getting into the balcony with him. Or he’s assuming it was the first time, since he was completely  entranced by the Garden Fairy and would probably not have heard any comment from his daughter. Which, by her mischievous smirk, was a very accurate assumption.
“She was very pretty wasn’t she? I told you she was! Did you see her hair? I told you it was amazing! I also want hair like hers!!”
“Yes, yes she was. And you were very right, she does have pretty hair. Maybe we should get back inside to get away from the cold and maybe find this Garden Fairy of yours to get some hair tips?”
“That’s a great idea! Let’s go!”
Picking up the 6 years old, Roy turns around to head into the salon, when his daughter gets his attention again. And the look in her eyes? It spelled trouble.
“But Daddy, I never called her Garden Fairy!”

I'm Here to stay.
Chapter two.
Later that night Marinette met up with Chat noir to explain the ...situation.
Marinette or well should I say Lady red soundlessly landed on Eiffel tower right behind Chat noir.
“Chat noir.”
Chat jumped a foot in air, startled and turned to face her with his baton outstretched in his hand.
“I don’t think I’m ever going to get used to you pulling a Batman and appearing out of nowhere.” Chat lowered his baton, his ears flat against his head, but perked up when she giggled.
They were both high enough on the tower that the people down in the streets couldn’t see or hear the heroes.
The air between them was tense and awkward with both of them staring at each other not knowing what to say.
Dame rouge broke the silence by asking “So, I’m guessing you want an explanation for earlier.”
Chat noir nodded “Who is he? How do you know him?”
Marinette hesitated for a second, contemplating just how much she should tell him before sighing and ripping off the proverbial band aid.
“...He’s family.”
Chat gaped, a million questions running through his head and on the tip of his tongue but he swallowed them down and listened patiently.
Figured he’d understand complicated family relationships better than most, given his father’s Hawkmoth, not that he knew that yet.
She turned away from him and faced the cityscape. And she had to agree there, Paris truly did earn the title of City of lights.
“It’s been a while since we last saw each other.” She laughed bitterly, thinking of all those days she spent grieving, not knowing if he was alive or not after news of the coup reached her “I honestly didn’t even know if he was still alive with all the rumours surrounding his ...situation.”
Chat looked pained with her confession, but he held his tongue.
He scooted closer to her almost touching her but still far away enough for her to feel comfortable.
It was quiet again. But she felt the urge to break the silence. And she might as well get it off her chest. It was high time she had this conversation with Chat. She’d been putting it off for too long already and today seemed as perfect as any other day to do this. After all what was one more emotional and slightly straining revelation?
“You probably know this is not the first time I’ve done this whole shtick.” Chat startled when she spoke, not expecting his usually private partner to talk unless necessary, much less about something this private.
He scratched the back of his neck, a nervous tick she observed him doing even behind the mask “Yeah I kinda figured that you weren’t new to the whole ‘fighting freaks’ thing after I saw you wipe the floor with bubbler.”
That got her to smile, even if it was just a small uptick. But Chat seemed to count it as a win.
She sat down on the edge of the tower and he sat right beside her without prompting.
It was silent again. Chat was waiting patiently for her to continue or just stay with her for comfort.
She swallowed heavily before speaking again.
“You know, there are usually only two types of people in our line of work.” Chat turned to look at her questingly at the abrupt change of topic but she resolutely avoided his eyes, staring down at the city below them “People who don masks everyday are usually either Heroes or villains. And until a few years back I was in the wrong side of that war. ” She might have heard Chat gasp, but she wasn’t really processing anything right now. “I only really donned the earrings to try and wipe out some of the red on my ledger.”
She clenched her eyes shut. Even after all these years it’s still hard to think about that time, to accept who she used to be. It’s gotten better after she met Sabine. Tikki and the other kwamis helped tremendously too, but it was still hard.
She felt strong arms wrap around her. It was an incredibly long and taxing day and it had been so long since she last felt this warm and safe that she just couldn’t hold it in any longer.
That night Chat noir saw his partner breakdown for the first time. He just held her as she cried and let loose all her emotions for the first time in a very long time. Even Hawkmoth didn’t risk interrupt them, not when Chat noir cataclysmed every akuma that even dared to come near them.

Bonus*
Chat looks at the time on his baton and winced. She had to agree, school tomorrow was going to be absolute hell.
He turns back to her and bows dramatically “Well M’lady, this cat has got to scat.” His jovial tone could not conceal his worry for her. No amount of acting and modelling classes were going to help him hide his emotions from her.
She waved off his anxiety.
He glanced back at her one last time, concern etched on his face, before he leapt off the tower with his baton in hand.
“Oh wait I forgot! You’re father is Hawkmoth!”
Chat noir’s grip slips and he falls off his baton.
Marinette curses as she unravels her yoyo to catch her frozen partner who was currently falling to his death.
“Damn it! I could’ve used more tact.”
Tikki can’t help but agree through their mental bond.
 *******
Hawkmoth and Mayura were defeated last week.
It hit Adrien hard, but he’s doing better now.
Honestly it was wonder he wasn’t akumatised. His emotions were all over the place.
Thank Kwami Hawkmoth was too busy panicking during the ambush to even think about sending out an akuma for Chat Noir.
But it probably wouldn’t have worked out too well for him either, considering all of Adrien’s emotions were targeted on him.
The fight was short. A quick in and out job with Gabriel venomed, Nathalie knocked out and the butterfly and peacock Miraculous safely tucked in her yoyo all in a matter of few minutes.
It was honestly a little disappointing. Hawkmoth spent so much time in his lair that his fighting skills were atrocious and Nathalie was little help in the battle, what with all her coughing.
They were neutralized so quickly, it was almost embarrassing.
Oh who was she kidding, it was totally embarrassing. For them.
Adrien had broken down when he saw his mother’s body hooked up to life support. She was still alive, if barely.
He broke down again when she told him that Emily Agreste could be saved.
He hugged her tightly, not letting her go even as their timers beeped down and she didn’t have the heart to push him off. So, that led to another awkward conversation where Adrien stared incredulously at his sweet and bubbly classmate who was supposedly an assassin and freaking Ladybug (Ugh she hated that name but the public were adamant to call her that.)
After a few more minutes of awkward staring(on her side) and incredulous(on Adrien’s) he finally nodded his head, apparently coming to a resolution.
“You know this actually explains a lot but also holy shit!”
The tension drained out of her frame and she started giggling, which soon turned into full blown laughter. Never change Chat.
But that was all in the past. Right now Marinette had more pressing issues than to think about some idiot who was in prison.
The media ban and the protective wards around Paris were lifted yesterday.
So now the entire world was in the know about the shitstorm that was Paris this past year. And that included the Justice League, who were all shamelessly persistent on meeting with her and could not take a hint despite the various times she had had to kick them all out of Paris.
She had finally agreed to meetup with them today (I mean there’s only so many times you can portal someone to the middle of the Pacific before giving up.)
But she was weary. Not only about the meeting but also about leaving Paris.
She had managed to dodge the League and their never-ending armies of assassins who were prowling the streets and even somehow in her school. (They were literally everywhere, like damn cockroaches. Everywhere you look you find them and no matter how many you squash, more come to replace them.)
She was leaving Chat alone with a few of the temporary heroes to hold down the fort while she was away.
She trusted them enough to leave Paris in their hands for a few hours, she really did! It was the League that she didn’t trust not to start shit while she was away.
So here she was, standing in front of her assembled heroes on some random Parisian rooftop giving them lecture after lecture on how to keep Paris intact for a few hours and to please call her if shit hit the fan and don’t try to tough it out yourself.
She transformed with Kaalki and turned back to wave one last time.
“Love you guys, be back by 7 and please please don’t let Paris burn down while I’m away.”
“Oh just go already.”
“We’ve got this.”
“Don’t worry so much, I mean what’s the worst that could happen?”
So with the questionable confidence given by her team, she opened a portal to the coordinates Wonder Woman had given her and stepped through hoping this wouldn’t come back to bite her in the butt.
She found herself in the Watchtower and honestly if it wasn’t for her assassin training she would have gaped like an idiot. But she’s not an idiot nor is an incompetent assassin, ex-assassin? So instead she walked up to the founding members of the Justice League looking the epitome of cool professionalism while she died on the inside. (Oh my god these assholes have a base in space!)
So this is what Damian meant when he said there was a surprise for her in the Watchtower. That cheeky little bastard.
Wonder Woman took the lead by kneeling down to one knee and bowing her head down deeply. “Chosen of creation, it is an honour to be in your presence sister.”
She bowed back in respect. “Princess Diana of Themyscira, it is an honour to meet you too.”
The rest of the Justice League did not seem to know what to make of this interaction.
Of the remaining of the trinity, Superman looked awkwardly between them, while Batman stared at her with an unnerving intensity that almost made her break out into a cold sweat. She was not going to get revealed now, and certainly not like this. Damian would never let her live it down.
Putting on her best poker face, she straightened up a cleared her throat, making almost everyone in the room jump. “Shall we start?”
Great. Now it was time to bullshit a room full of Heroes and detectives and make them think she was disclosing actually relevant and confidential information while in fact giving them nothing.
This was going to be fantastic.

*******
The meeting was going fine actually. So far they had discussed the charges against Gabriel and Nathalie, the impacts and repercussions of Hawkmoth’s reign and the effect on the citizens including the rehabilitation efforts taken. All common knowledge in Paris. Not that they seemed to know that.
She had artfully dodged every question asking about the Miraculous and where she and the other heroes had gotten theirs and how Hawkmoth had got his slimy hands on not one but two.
Everything was going better than expected, good even. All except for Batman. He did not stop staring at her through out the meeting and asked weird and completely unrelated questions. Even some of the other heroes had started giving him looks. She would have snapped at him much sooner if it wasn’t for Robin, who was seated right behind him making discreet cutting motions with his hand every time she turned to tear Batman a new one.
But honestly enough was enough. This was the twenty-fifth time (yes she counted) she could feel Batman’s unnerving and slightly creepy gaze zero in on her. And formalities be damned, father or not this overgrown furry was onto her and she was not letting it go. He was going down and 6 feet under. Damian would get over it.
She stopped mid sentence and turned to Batman with the sweetest and fakest smile she could muster. “Is there a problem monsieur Batman?”
Her voice was sweet as poison and her smile turned sharp. Batman narrowed his eyes, aware of the game she was playing and refusing to take part in it.
Well it seems he needed a bit more of a push.
“Do you have anything you want to say? I can feel you staring at me.”
Batman narrowed his eyes at her further till they were only white slits, but she just glared right back at him full force.
Meanwhile his brood all had varying responses.
Nightwing looked concerned. RedHood (ugh he has got to ditch that atrocious helmet.) seemed to enjoy the turn of events and looked invested in the drama. Red Robin, who looked forty with that hideous cowl took on discreet defensive stance and Robin looked two twitches away from face palming and sent her ‘what the hell are you doing?’ look.
Well what was she doing? She was getting herself a new punching bag. She needed someone to take out her frustrations on now that Hawkmoth and his minion were no longer viable options, so who better a target than the man who is supposedly your biological father and a right asshole towards your twin. That overgrown furry deserves everything he’s going to get.
And the only person who could maybe intervene and sell her out was not there. Lucky for her that BlackBat was in Shanghai along with Spoiler on a much needed vacation.
The rest of the Justice League looked between the two of them like they were at a tennis match with varying expressions of awe, fear and incredulity.
Marinette ignored all of them. Her glare was set solely on Batman.
A few minutes passed in a standstill and Batman grunted knowing it was his move. He tensed his muscles and visibly grit his teeth
“You’re an assassin.”
Well that was unexpected. She thought he’d say something more along the lines of ‘Who are your parents?’ 'Are you adopted?’ or maybe even ‘You are my daughter.’ Not whatever this is.
She blinked once but showed no other outward expression of shock.
Unfortunately the same could not be said for the rest of the Justice League. The Bats all tensed and fell into defensive stances, all except for Robin who whipped his head around to stare at his father in visibly obvious panic and shock. Wonder Woman and Aquaman both stood up and protested loudly, though one was more vehement in their objection. The rest of the Heroes all broke into various states of chaos after the statement left Batman’s lips.
Marinette meanwhile just crossed her arms and leaned back in her seat. The squeak of her chair was all everyone needed to quiet down and seat their asses back down.
“Ex-assassin and well, so are you and half your brood.”
Batman almost growled out loud and the table creaked from the white knuckle grip he had on it.
The Justice League was apparently made up of colour blind and shameless heroes because everyone looked between them like they were watching an interesting tennis match and not a standoff that could potentially cause bloodshed.
The Bats (Except for Batman, who she was in the middle of a standoff with) were all glancing nervously at Robin, probably expecting him to unsheathe his sword and jump over the table to attack her. But surprising everyone but her, he stayed put.
RedHood was the first to crack, clicking the safety off his gun and pointing it at her. Something she expected considering his temper and less than stellar history with the League.
This caused anther uproar with everyone standing and arguing.
She was the only one seated now, arms crossed and looking almost bored. A stark contrast to the coiled and tensed forms of literally everyone else in the room.
“Why are you here?”
She looked up from examining her nails, giving that Red bucket the most deadpan look she could muster. “You asked me to come here.”
After a few seconds of flustered silence and muffled laughter, RedHood had apparently scrounged up enough of his dignity to ask again “You working for the league?”
She straightened at this, all mirth fading away from her and her eyes sharpening. She uncrossed her arms and leaned forward and the Heroes all tensed in unison. She looked RedHood right in the eye.
“Now why would I go back to a place I fought tooth and nail to get out of?”
“...”
The air was almost electric with how charged it was.

Buzzz

           Buzzzz

                        Buzzzzz

RedHood startled at the sudden noise and shot at her.
She was unfazed just deflecting the bullet with her wrist cuffs. The same could not be said for the rest of the heroes as they all violently flinched.

Buzzz

       Buzzzz

                Buzzzzz

Her yoyo was ringing, she picked it up, checked the caller ID and promptly cursed the universe and everyone in it to the high heavens.
“Oh for fucks sake Chat I’ve been gone for an hour!”
“Heyyy M’lady.” There were sounds of fighting in background oh and someone was screaming too.
“So I know you told us to keep Paris in one piece while you were gone and Paris is still intact- Hey!” A katana missed taking off his head by an inch. “But ces assassins stupides popped out of nowhere and started attacking. But thankfully their blades didn’t pierce our suits not for their lack of trying.” he muttered the last part quietly but she still caught it and narrowed her eyes further. Then there was a banshee screech and Abeille wailed ‘My hair!’ and everyone within a 40 mile radius who weren’t completely tone deaf winced at the volume. “Anyway bug we’ve pushed the assassins off the roof, we’ve tied them up and we threw them in the bin.” He ducked as ninja star whizzed right past his head. “but they *whack* keep *whack* coming *whack* back *whack* Like maudits cafards!” A huge explosion ringed out and everyone was thrown off “Anyway we’ve totally got everything under control but- watch the tail! But um it would be great if you could come back. Like right now. And- Wait no no no no not again! ” Another explosion ringed out and the call cut.
Silence.
It was completely silent for the first time in forever in the Watchtower.
She snapped her yoyo shut with a resounding click that echoed around the room.
She took a deep breath and looked up to face the other heroes, giving them a smile so sweet and fake it put American candy to shame.
“Well as you can see, duty calls.”
The entire Justice League stared at her in incredulous disbelief. And there was something satisfactory in watching the world’s mightiest heroes gape at her in complete speechlessness.
She opened another portal, forever grateful for the ‘use your power more than once’ power up potion, and waved at the heroes cheekily “Au revoir!” before jumping into the portal and leaving a gaggle of sputtering heroes behind her.

*****
The Justice League was in utter chaos.
Utter and complete chaos.
Damian was almost surprised by the amount mayhem his sister caused, but trouble always did follow after her like a lost puppy.
And while what she did was stupid.
And moronic.
And would definitely come back to bite her later.
He was mostly proud of her.
It was no easy feat to throw off his father. And it had been a long time since he had seen the Justice League this off balance.
He quickly wiped the smirk off his face. It would not help anyone if he got caught now. Marinette was not ready to meet father and he honestly can’t blame her. She hated mother and was right to do so, mother is a quote ‘piece of work’ and undeserving of Ukthi. But Marinette had also vowed to hate whomever their father was because anyone who Talia al Ghul decided was worthy of her and the al Ghul name was probably also a right nasty piece.
She lost most of her hostility once she discovered that the ever elusive ‘father’ was the Batman, but she was still suspicious. And he cannot blame her. While the League of assassins was horrifying and gruesome to him and was no place for a child to be anywhere near there, but Marinette had it much much worse. While he was the heir to the demon’s head and treated like royalty, she was the competition, a spare, a disgrace and most of all she was a girl.

Crash

He flinched slightly at the abrupt reminder that he was currently stuck in middle of the what would appropriately be termed a shitstorm.
Wonder Woman was having what Grayson called ‘an existential crisis’ and found it acceptable to throw her chair across the room.
Todd was staring at his hands in horror and was also having an existential crisis for shooting at a child. Tch Marinette is not just a child and she is more than capable of dodging a mere bullet.
Superman was holding Wonder Woman down and rest of the League were divided into two groups loudly arguing whether not Ladybug was working for Ra’s al Ghul.
But so far the most concerning was father. He was quiet, alarmingly so. And he had not spoken a word to anyone since Ukthi had made her dramatic exit. He was brooding and that spelled trouble for everyone involved.
Finally father stood up and the chair screeched loudly, silencing the argument. The eyes of the entire Justice League were on him, but he payed them no mind “We’re leaving.” Grayson started to protest “NOW.” He stormed out of the room with the rest of the pretenders following behind him dejectedly and leaving behind a room of gaping faces.
Hmm. Maybe dramatic exits were an inherited trait. He’s going to have to look into that. Mother also had a flair for the dramatics and it would certainly do no good if he was the odd one out.

*******
Being dramatic was definitely hereditary and a necessary trait if you want to be an Al Ghul much less an Al Ghul Wayne. Because then why else would Marinette open a portal right above the random warehouse the assassins decided would be an acceptable place to start a war and drop down onto the battle field like an avenging angel from the sky and knock out a horde of assassins from the impact of her descent alone.
Obviously, it was for no other reason than to sate her inner drama queen and to smirk at the gaping faces of her team.
It was like something out of a movie. Every single person, heroes and villains alike stopped to stare at her with conflicting emotions on their faces. But alas this wasn’t a movie but real life so the moment was broken by Chat being thrown off the roof.
“CHAT!”
“...”
“...”
“...”
“I’M OK!”
The fight resumed as normal. But instead of being in a standstill, the Miraculous team now had the upper hand.
Now to get the League out of Paris once and for all, or at least keep them out for a month at most. They’d have to burn the Lazarus pit along with Ra’s al Ghul if they wanted to rid them of the world forever. And oh did they want to do that.
She started the incantation for the spell while kicking an assassin’s kneecaps out, before tripping another assassin into the one running towards her.
She took out a dagger from her pocket and started carving out symbols on the rooftop but stopped to stab the assassin that was stupid enough to attack her right in the gut before taking it out and throwing it at the one trying to sneak up her from behind.
She took out another dagger and continued carving and simultaneously kicking ass.
The spell was almost over. She just needed a few more things now.
“I NEED THE THUMB OF A MINION!”
A pause, before there was a screech and a bloodied thumb landed smack dab in the centre of her carvings. Then Ryuku landed right in front of her covered in blood that was hopefully (probably) not her own.
“Thanks Ryu!”
Ryuko curtly nodded at her and smirked, before calling on wind dragon and picking up half the assassins on roof and dropping them in the trash.
Now for the hardest ingredient to find. The blood of someone who has fallen from grace. As if hearing her thoughts, an assassin was thrown on the carving with a murderous Queen bee not far behind, screaming obscenities that should not be told anywhere near a child.
“tu es con! I will tear you limb by limb and slowly and painfully kill you for what you have done.” Her once beautiful golden locks were now something akin to a flaming dumpster fire with chunks of hair missing and a few strands literally on fire.
She gaped at Abeille for a good few seconds before an idea from hell popped into her head and she smirked evilly.
This was perfect. She wouldn’t find anyone else fallen farther from grace than this, well except Gabriel Agreste, but she’d have to go all the way to Penitentiaire Inrichting Vught to get his blood.
While Chloé was on her warpath, Marinette discreetly or not so discreetly grabbed the heiress's hand and cut her finger with her magical dagger deep enough for her blood drip onto the carvings. All the while the girl in question was still too lost in her rage to even notice.
As she said the last part of the incantation Magic crackled and the wind blew violently around her. And now for the last part, the blood of the spell caster. She took her magic dagger and cut a line straight along her palm and squeezed her fist, watching as blood dripped down her palm. When the first drop of her blood dripped onto the carvings the wind stooped the and the carvings lit up red before turning blue.
All the assassins froze, be it mid fight or mid getting their asses handed to them before vanishing in a puff of smoke.
Shame it was right as Abeille was about to pounce on her prey.
While it was fortunate for everyone else that the assassins were sent back to where they came from, it was unfortunate for her cause now Abeille’s murderous gaze zeroed in on her for stopping her from exacting revenge.
Marinette raised her arms in surrender slowly backing away from the furious and slightly homicidal girl.
“Bee, Bee I can fix this.”
Chloé was not appeased nor did she stop her warpath.
Chat noir, her ever loyal partner sacrificed himself yet again for her by tackling Chloé before she could pounce and scratch her eyes out. Chat was now subjected to the blunt of Chloe’s rage and judging by the fear in his eyes, he knew that too.
Carapace reached out to help his best bud but Rena held him back muttering something about it being too late now.
And she was right. Chat gave himself up to the devil for her and she won’t let his sacrifice be in vain. She would fix this and save him.
She straightened, determination brimming in her stance. Her eyes glowed a brief red and she slammed her hand on the ground, discharging waves of magic that fixed all the damage caused by the battle including Abeille’s disastrous hair.
Satisfied with having saved Chat’s life and barred the League from even setting foot in Paris for the next month or so, she yawned.
“Everyone head back to base and someone debrief me. I’m long over due for my nap.”
No one even tried to argue with her, it was a miracle if she even slept at all and everyone wanted know what happened with the Justice League.

I have a pefect idea for this request as a story prompt, if anyone of you want to take it! Bio!Bruce Wayne & Batfamily.
After reading this from @unmaskedagain prompt here. This gave me an idea if any of you want to make this please tagged me so i can read it as well. Just love having overprotective family not over do it. I just wanna see some lawsuit and never mess with Marinette or deal with her family's wrath towards Principal Damocles, Miss Caline Bustier, Lila Rossi, Alya Cesaire, Gabriel Agreste (as Hawkmoth), Nathalie Sanceour (as Mayura), and Adrien Agreste. Leaving the Akuma Class to have their redemption.
Here is my idea!
Marinette had enough of this high road advice that Adrien gave her. She also realize that Chat Noir also gave her the same advice when Adrien told her which really started to annoy her after all she is the guardian now she took the Black Cat's ring without him realizing it. She went to her mother Sabine Cheng telling her whats going on in school which makes Sabine not very happy but also very angry towards Adrien to give that ridiculous advice to her daughter. She gave a phone call to Bruce Wayne.
After Bruce Wayne recieved an urgent message from Sabine about his daughter getting bullied by a classmate of hers along with her homeroom teacher Caline Bustier. The Wayne Family dislike bullies. Sabine had listed what that girl did to Marinette but there is one thing that caught his attention this girl Lila Rossi threaten his daughter in the girls bathroom cornered. And this boy Adrien Agreste gave her a High Road advice too he decided to have a talk with Gabriel about his son's advice to his daughter. Lastly her teacher Caline Bustier the incompetent teacher who does nothing about handling bullies yet telling her to give a good example this really annoyed him the most.
Bruce called a family meeting telling them that he recieved a phone call from Sabine Cheng about their sister after explaining to them the brothers and sisters were pissed at those who bullied their sister. The brothers wanted to kill Lila Rossi, Alya Cesaire, and Adrien Agreste; while Cassandra wanted to threaten her sister's teacher Caline Bustier. Bruce can deal with Gabriel Agreste and Principal Damocles for his incompetent job for not using the secruity cameras for footage of evidence.
The Wayne Family had enough and decided to end this bullying towards Marinette. It seems that Lila lied about being MDC which really pissed off Marinette and her mother Sabine and her step-father Tom they also inform this to Bruce as he decided to take it talk to the Mayor decided to say this in public broadcast with Nadja who is willing to help her goddaughter Marinette.
As for the Akuma Class they have decided to pretend to like Lila Rossi after experiencing the way Alya treated Marinette like a doormat and asking for free things which really. When Alix told the girls what she had witness the rest of the girls weren't very happy of Alya's demands towards Marinette they even told Marinette in private telling her that Alya is using her for free things which made her realize it the moment Alix told her. While the Boys namely Nino knew that taking sides was never good so he thought of breaking up Alya after seeing her treated his childhood friend Marinette for free stuff. And Max who had did his own research but feels bad for believing that napkin incident. The entire class minus Alya, Adrien, and Lila they apologize to Marinette and sided with her instead of that lying snake Lila Rossi they also found out that Adrien knew this they were angry at him.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng's Harem
explaining some things, especially with regards to possible future haters' comments
What it counts to MLB I'm in my MDC's harem era, which means I ship her with a few of the men in MLB world, plus crossovers.
Favorites: Daminette, Felinette, Jasonette
Honorable mention to: Chloe/Mari friendship & Lila exposed
This is fiction, if you want to read "socially acceptable" that's good for you, but stop being entitled and thinking that you can demand others to follow you - and your beliefs, ideas and opinions. They're fictional characters, they aren't one-dimensional therefore there's no such thing as only being acceptable in one way, like... That's not how it works.
In MLB, I started by shipping the square love, then I only shipped marichat. The 3 others parts of the square love are toxic, it involves obsession, stalking, among others [from both sides]. I still like marichat a bit, but it's tainted by 3rd season and the "Mr. High Road". Therefore I searched for other things and I found Maribat fandom and Felinette, I'm literally obsessed with those.
I know that people are toxic about these choices of pairings and there might be so many "arguments" that are easy to refute, but instead of it I'm going to give an advice: if you don't like something, block it, "not interested on", whatever you need to clean those things off your timeline. You are not being the bigger person by publishing those 15s hate videos, you're just spreading abusive behavior. You're just making sure that someone doesn't feel safe in the internet tru cyberbullying, and if you think that's ok you need help!
You're free to have your own likes, opinions and ideas, but you have no right to try to impose your beliefs on others: that's the same that people do with religion, politics and even LGBT community. Some of you are committing crimes without realizing: cyberbullying, slander/defamation...
You're only going to be happy when concentrating your life and time in what makes you happy. If spreading hate makes you happier, seek help urgently! These are all fiction characters. It's ok if you want to read vanilla, especially if you're a minor, but you're entitled as fuck if you think you have any say in what others enjoy in their free time.
Have a good day, with love...

Paper Rings
Marinette met Jason when she was a little girl and he was a little boy. Everyday he would hang around their bakery, just looking at the food and the people who bought it. She was a kind girl who offered him an éclair and friendship, and soon started spending as much of her free time with him as possible. It was a match made in heaven, They soon became the closest of friends.
She and him. Irreplaceable. Unbroken. Forever,
But of course it all had to come crashing down. It always did. She was Marinette Dupain-Cheng after all. Nothing could ever go her way, bad luck was her middle name. But her bad luck had taken it too far this time. How dare it try and take Jason from her.
Due to the constantly damaging rogue attacks, her parents couldn’t afford to keep paying the repairs. It was something she’d learnt once she’d gotten older, but that didn’t mean it had hurt any less. To little Marinette it had been the end of the world.
“Don’t take me from Jay Jay,” she’d demanded at a young age, refusing to be separated from her best friend.
She was pulled into a hug by her mother, “I’m so sorry, sweetie. You’ll have a chance to say goodbye though. And you could always give him the number to our new home in Paris.”
“You can’t do this to me,” a young Marinette screamed at her mother. “We got married with paper rings. You can tear us apart.”
Sabine picked up her daughter’s hand, stroking it softly in an attempt to calm her down. “I’m sorry, but my answer won’t change.”
“No you’re not,” the little girl had hissed, an unnatural amount of venom in her voice for such a young child.
But that had been the end of that. Marinette had gone to Paris. She grew to enjoy life in Paris. She made friends in Paris. No one compared to Jason. Nothing could, no one could, no one ever would.
Although they did have to move, she managed to stay in contact with her friend for as long as possible. For the first few years they had managed to call each other with their home phones at least once a week. There had been a time where she hadn’t heard from him for ages, despite the number of calls she’d left on his home phone, two times actually. After the first time, he’d told her that it had been because he had been living on the streets and couldn’t call, he’d also told her then that he’d been adopted but never went into many details about it.
The second time had somehow managed to worry her even more than the first. She couldn’t help but worry that he was on the streets again. She’d lived in Gotham too, once upon a time, she knew how bad it could be for kids in the system. The second time he didn’t contact her for ages cover a long, extended period of time that had brought her more worry than she could have ever imagined.
It was fine. He was fine. And he was allowed his privacy. It just hurt, that’s all.
She’d managed to become a superhero and defeat a supervillain in that period of time. It had certainly been eventful for her and she would have loved to have talked to someone about it all. Someone that wasn’t a flying bug kwami who couldn’t relate to her issues.
Even so, the couple of best friends were nineteen when they finally managed to meet in person again.
Marinette had moved to Gotham for university, a long time dream of hers and Jason’s, but when she’d arrived she’d never been able to find him. He would sometimes call her, but it was never with the same number as the time before. The only way he would contact her was with burner phones. How that had hurt more than any of the other ways he’d blown her off.
For a while she’d refused to contact him. Sure she would have to pick up the phone and hear his voice, as she wouldn’t know who the caller was due to the freaking burner phones but as soon as she knew it was him she would hang up. That had annoyed him.
Good.
That had been the point. To make him feel some of the pain he’d caused her over the years.
And yet, she hadn’t been able to keep it up for long. When she wasn’t in contact with him, it felt like there was a pull in her heart drawing her to him. Which was ridiculous. She’d only felt this type of pull towards someone when she’d date Adrien and Kagami in the past. But she definitely didn’t like Jason that way.
She couldn’t. She was incredibly mad at him. And she hadn’t seen him in person for years. There was no way. That was stupid. That was impossible. Even so, she’d eventually given him and started taking his calls again.
But that had made the pull stronger, like it had deepened the connection. Even so, with each and every call she found it harder and harder to deny her feelings. To deny the truth.
Despite not physically seeing him in years, she was in love with Jason Peter Todd.
What a mess. How would she ever explain this to him? Maybe her newly started flirting on their calls would do the explaining for her?
Probably not.
Then one day she’d just snapped. “Either we actually meet up, or we don’t ever talk again,” she’d demanded. “I can’t keep doing this. It’s destroying me.”
“Pixie,” Jason had started sadly, “you know we can’t.”
“Give me one reason.”
“It’s not safe. You know how Gotham is, and there are people here who could hurt you,” he reasoned with a gentle voice. He wasn’t fooling Marinette though.
“There’s people who could hurt me anywhere,” she defended. “I can protect myself. I managed just fine during the akuma attacks. You don’t get to play that card against me.”
“The what attacks?” Jason asked curiously. Why had he never heard of these so called attacks. He thought she’d been safe in Paris.
“How about this,” Marinette offered with a smirk gracing her face, “I’ll tell you all about them in person.”
“Why are you so insistent about this?” He’d demanded. “You know we can’t.”
“Maybe because I want to reunite with the person I’m in love with!” She’d yelled, before realising what she’d actually said. “Shit.”
“The what?”
That was certainly one way to tell him, she supposed. But it had definitely worked, because there she was sitting in a coffee shop with Jason in one of the nicer parts of the city.
They were sitting there awkwardly, drinks in hand.
“So,” she’d started.
He nodded. “So,” he agreed.
“Are we ever planning on talking about that, or shall we just ignore it?”
“I say that we talk about it,” he offered, “but we don’t have to if you’re not comfortable with it.”
“I-” she started, struggling to find the words to continue. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have told you.”
“Don’t apologise for your feelings,” he said, reaching down towards her hands to give her as much reassurance as he could. “I feel the same way. I just have a lot of enemies that could hurt you, that’s why I pushed you away.”
Marinette could help it, but she started laughing. “You have enemies? That’s one of the strangest things anyone’s ever told me.”
“Well my adoptive father is a billionaire,” he shrugged.
“He’s a what? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I figured you knew,” he muttered, “it was on the news for months when I got adopted and when I came back into the public after a long break.”
She winced, “You’re kidding me right?”
“Nope.”
“Damn. Who?”
“Bruce Wayne.”
“Shit, that’s wild.”
“Yep. You see why I wanted to keep you away from that?”
She shook her head, “Like it’s going to work. I’m good friends with a supermodel, an Olympic fencer and Jagged Stone’s son. I also went to school with Style Queen’s daughter, one of Paris’s most famous bands, an Olympic swimmer, a famous DJ and more.”
“Damn,” he muttered. “What drugs was your school on?”
She smiled and shook her head, “That was just my class. And besides anonymous world famous designer, right here. You don’t need to protect me.”
“Alright,” he grinned, “then maybe I have feelings for you too.”
“Does that make this a date?” Marinette asked cheekily.
“I suppose so.”

I Could be a Better Boyfriend (sing-fic)
This is for Maribat Pride June 2023. It was suppose to be posted yesterday.
THEME: I have a thing for blondes
Marinette looked around the gala and sighed. It had been three year since she moved to Gotham and she still wasn't a fan of the galas in Gotham. Jagged Stone always gave her his tickets, anyways.
'Why turn them down when you live there, Cupcake? Show off you designs. Be proud!'
She knew he was just trying to help her out. Both him and Penny were trying to convince her to open up her deisgns and go public. After Paris, she didn’t want anyone trying to claim anything about her. She had been hurt too many times before. It didn't matter that everyone now knew the truth. She had been too damaged to go back. She preferred animosity; Jagged and Penny gave that to her.
Marinette sighed as she dropped onto her bed. She wasn't sure why she was so upset. She had seen Stephanie's boyfriend sneak out of the gala, several times over the last couple months. Sometimes, Stephanie would leave instead. Mari couldn’t help but wonder if their relationship wasn't as great as it appeared. Stephanie Brown would just smile when people asked where the CEO had gone and said he had to step out or something urgent came up.
It hurt to see her alone. She had spoken to her before about fashion and sweets. Marinette hoped one day she'd be able to call Steph a friend. They had spoken briefly a couple times before about fashion and sweets. She laughed when she learned she had a giant sweet tooth. She knew her parents would have loved her.
Marinette closed her eyes when an image of Luka came to her mind. It had been awhile since she thought of him, of Paris.
'Marinette, I know you don't want to say anything, but maybe you should at least write it down. You might not notice something right away, but you will be able to look back and see changes. Feelings change; it's normal. You might even notice something new or something you never even imagined possible.'
Marinette sipped her drink as she watched Stephanie and Tim Drake argue silently again. It seemed like the blonde was trying to get him to stop from leaving, but he broke free and left anyways. Marinette shook her head and turned at a compliment about her dress. She still wasn't ready for the world to know her identity. She would just smile and say her uncle's designer made it for her.
Once home, Marinette opened her notebook and began to write her feelings down. Many people had complimented her latest design. It was rewarding to hear so many compliments about her designs. What stuck out the most to her that night was Stephanie again. She hated feeling angry. I quick shower was the best way to wash away the anger.
Once she was out of the shower, she picked her notebook back up and read through it: I can't believe Stephanie is still dating Tim Drake. She doesn't seem like the kind to stay with someone for money. She should leave him! Stephanie deserves someone better than him. Who cares if he's a CEO?
Marinette frowned at her thoughts. She turned the pages back and began to read from the start. She had a year woth of notes. When Marinette had started this, she thought it would be a notebook full of abuse. She would show it to Steph and tell her how much better she was without Tim. That wasn't what she was reading.
Mari blushed as she read page after page, further cementing her thoughts. When she reached the page she had written that night, she turned the page and picked up a pen. Mari closed her eyes and quickly wrote down her feelings. She opened her eyes and saw it staring back at her.
'I haven't been upset. I've been jealous! Thanks, Luka.'
Marinette walked into the studio and looked around. She hoped to speak to Jagged about something.
"Hey, Cupcake." Jagged called out, "You usually don't show up in person, unless it's for a fitting. What's up?"
Marinette blushed and admitted, "I….I wrote a song."
"You did?" Jagged asked, standing up excited.
"It's probably not very good, but-" she began to say.
"Can I see it?" he questioned.
Marinette opened her bookbag and held out her notebook. Jagged looked over the lyrics, curiously and smiled.
"Think we can put a beat to it in the studio?" the rock star asked, "Would you be able to sing it?"
"Actually I wanted you to sing it." Marinette declared, blushing, "Not-It does not have to be released. I-I was thinking about giving it to someone."
"I have to hear you sing this." Jagged stated, "Please!"
I can't believe we're finally alone
I can't believe I almost went home
What are the chances? Everyone's dancing
And he's not with you
The universe must have divined this
What am I gonna do? Not grab your wrist?
I could be a better boyfriend than him
I could do the shit that he never did
Up all night, I won't quit
Thinking I'm gonna steal you from him
I could be such a gentleman
Plus all my clothes would fit
"You sound wonderful, Cupcake!" the rock star announced.
"So, you'll sing it?" Marinette questioned, happily.
"No." he answered.
"What?" his designer asked.
"This is your song." Jagged declared, "You have to sing it."
"But I can't!" Mari replied, "I-"
Jagged pressed a button and let Marinette's voice flow over them.
"Cupcake, I can't give this song the emotions youre singing." he stated, calmly.
Marinette sat as she listened to her own voice.
"It could be a single?" Jagged spoke.
"But it's personal." she whispered.
"Most songs are. Musicians write about what inspires us. It's not always happy feelings, either. We write and sing so that people know they're not alone. Why else would there be so many break up songs?" the rock star spoke, "I'm sure there are other people who are feeling the way you are right now. No one has to know it's you. We can think of a rock and roll name. Anytime you think of songs and you decide to sing it, we can put it under that name."
Marinette tilted her head as she thought about her options. Jagged refused to sing it for her, but gave her the option to record it. Instead of personally handing her the song, it could be something they talked about in passing. She would never know it was her voice she was listening to. Animosity wasn't something new to her. No one knew she was Jagged Stone's personal designer. Besides, she usually only sang in the shower. No one hear her singing in passing.
"Okay." Mari sighed, "On two conditions. We create another alias; not my designer name."
"Not a problem." Jagged smiled, "What's the second?"
"No one but the recording studio knows who I am. Not even Luka or Juleka." she declared.
"What?" he asked, shocked, "But-"
"Not a word." Marinette pleaded, "I don't wanna be up on stage or end up doing duets. Nothing like that."
"Deal." he smiled.
It had been almost six months since the last gala when she walked back through those double doors. Almost instantly, she was able to spot Stephanie. She was alone again. Marinette took a deep breath and made her way over.
I could be a better boyfriend
I don't need to tell you twice
All the ways he can't suffice
If I could give you some advice
I would leave with me tonight
The universe must have divined this, mmm, mmm
Ladies first, baby, I insist
Marinette quickly noticed that Stephanie seemed shocked by her presence.
'Oh, God. Maybe she didn't want to talk to me. Maybe she was avoiding me. I look fine, right?'
She had worn a sweetheart, strapless lavender dress with a cape. Marinette had worked her hair into a bun and curled the loose hairs. Before Marinette could ask the blonde if she was okay, Tim appeared in front of them with a smile. The designer smiled back, but Tim and Steph quickly recognized it as the fake 'Brucie' smile.
Tim cleared his throat, "I don't think we've ever met before." and held out his hand.
Marinette kept her hand at her sides.
"No." she responded, "You usually run off, at some point in the middle of these things, over the last few years."
Tim paled. He never expected someone to notice him leaving to change into Red Robin.
I could be a better boyfriend than him
I could do the shit that he never did
Up all night, I won't quit
Thinking I'm gonna steal you from him
I could be such a gentleman
Plus all my clothes would fit
I could be a better boyfriend than him
I could be a better boyfriend
"Ha-Have you met Steph before?" Tim questioned, nervously.
Stephanie smiles, "A few times, actually, but you know how these things are. We barely get to say hi or hear a speech before anyone can introduce themselves."
Tim nodded, "So, are you learning the ropes to take over the family business?"
"I left the family business a long time ago." Marinette stated, "I'm here for my own business."
"You're own business?" Stephanie asked.
"Yes." The designer answered.
Tim began to panic. He couldn't remember inviting someone influential around his age. Obviously, she was because she had been here multiple times.
'Who is she?'
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed his blonde counterpart bobbing her head.
"Are you to that song again?" He asked.
"What song?" Mari questioned.
The blonde looked around and popped an earbud out from behind her ear. She handed it to the designer. Marinette placed it in her ear.
'It's my song!'
I never would have left you alone
Here on your own glued to your phone
Never would have left you alone
For someone else to take you home
I could be a better boyfriend than him
I could do the shit that he never did
Up all night, I won't quit
I'm gonna steal you from him
I could be such a gentleman
Plus you know my clothes would fit
Marinette blushed as she watched Stephanie smile.
"Steph is obsessed with the song." Tim commented.
"It's amazing!" Stephanie declared, "I probably would have broken up him sooner if any girl had walked up to me and told me this."
Tim rolled his eyes, "It was a mutual break up."
"You-You're not together?" Marinette questioned.
"Nope." the blonde answered, "We're exes."
"Who are weirdly….adopted siblings or I guess you could say we fit better as siblings?" Tim tried to explain better, "Bruce has weird adoption habits."
Steph smirked and asked jokingly, "You wouldn't happen to have a tragic past or were possibly orphaned, were you?"
"Oh!" Marinette replied, shocked, "Um, bullied and emancipated. My parents bought my bullies bullshit."
Tim and Stephanie froze, before the side-eyed each other.
'Blue eyes. Black hair. Tragic past. She fits the Wayne bill, alright.'
Marinette giggled, "Don't worry. I've already been unofficially adopted by someone else. I'd like to see Bruce Wayne fight him, though."
"Fight who?" Bruce questioned, emerging from nowhere.
"Bruce!" his kids called him, shocked.
'They seem on edge.'
Bruce looked to the girl across from them. He had seen her at a couple galas, but could never place her.
'What did she do?'
"There ya are, Cupcake!" a voice cried.
"Jagged Stone!" Stephanie and Tim shouted.
"Uncle Jagged!" the girl cried as she hugged the rock legend.
"Bruce, this is my designer and neice." Jagged stated, "I've been giving her my tickets for the last couple ears since she lives in the city. M is an amazing bundle of talent and full of surprises."
"Wait!" Tim spoke, "You're a designer?"
Mari nodded.
Steph gasped, "Are you MDC?"
Marinette blushed and nodded.
"Can you design for me?" Tim asked.
"No, me!" Stephanie exclaimed.
"I asked her first!" Tim growled.
"She knows me better!" Steph declared.
Off to the side, Bruce and Marinette hid their embarrassment, while Jagged just laughed.
"Sorry, Stephanie, but you need to learn how to treat a lady." Tim spoke, putting his arm around Marinette's waist.
Marinette quickly grabbed Tim's arm, rotated it and threw him to the ground.
"I find it's better to keep a man on his toes." the designer declared.
Tim wavered under her glare. Bruce looked between them.
'Okay. Something definetly happened between these two. Is she one of Tim's exes?'
Mari shifted her attention back to the blonde, "I'd love to create something for you."
Stephanie quickly hugged her. Marinette quickly pushed her away and backed up towards Jagged Stone.
"Oh, um-" arinette began to mumble.
Jagged placed his hands on her shoulders, "Why don't you both go to the dance floor? Inspire yourselves."
Marinette slowly held out her hand for the blonde female to take. Stephanie smiled and took her hand, leading them both to the dance floor.
"Jagged?" Bruce questioned.
"Sorry about that, Mate." the musician spoke, "She isn't use to physical contact anymore. Cupcake can take care of herself, as your son found out."
Tim dusted off his clothes, as he looked at the girls questionably. He still knew nothing about MDC. He still didn’t have a name. Jagged called her Cupcake or M. He knew she was emancipated so her name could be completely different from what it once was, for all he knew.
Stephanie cautiously grabbed Marinette's waist as the reached the dance floor. Marinette tensed slightly, but forced herself to relax. Marinette took a step forward and began the dance.
"You know, I thought you and Tim were still dating." Marinette admitted.
Stephanie smiled, "We broke up about a year ago."
"Oh." Mari spoke, "It was…mutual; I think he said?"
"Yeah." the blonde stated, "We sorta mutually decided we wanted to explore the same sex, with out each other."
"Huh?" the designer asked, not understanding.
Steph giggled, "I was checking out girls and he was checking out guys."
"Oh!" Marinette spoke.
"Tim's dating a red head, who thinks one of his older brothers is secretly Nightwing because of the whole 'The Butts Match' theory." Stephanie explained.
Marinette laughed, "Oh, no!"
"We can see Tim loves him." the blonde smiled.
"That's sweet." Mari smiled, softly.
"I hope that doesn't make this weird?" Steph suddenly questioned.
"Weird?" the designer asked, "What is weird?"
"Us dancing." Stephanie whispered.
"N-No!" Marinette blushed, "I-I'm actually in the same boat…..actually."
"Really?" Stephanie asked in shock.
"It was a recent discovery." Mari admitted, "I know I've had crushes on guys in the past and-"
"You realized you might not be into just guys?" Steph finished.
Marinette nodded in embarrassment, "It took me months to realize how I felt."
The two left the unspoken words hang in the air as they continued to sway to the music. Stephanie recognized the familiar tune to her new favorite song, as the tune began to play in the Raycons. Before she could hum along, she heard the song louder than ever. The blonde looked up to see her dance partner's lips repeat the lyrics.
I could be a better boyfriend than him
I could do the shit that he never did
Up all night, I won't quit
Thinking I'm gonna steal you from him
I could be such a gentleman
Plus all my clothes would fit
Stephanie moved on auto-pilot, but she could feel her cheeks were burning hot.
'The cute girl who kept talking to me- I can't believe it; she's the singer to my favorite song! I wonder if I can convince her to meet up and have lunch with me. She looks adorable tonight! She's even wearing my favorite color! She likes girls, too. I might have a chance…if only I knew her name!'
Marinette pulled away from Stephanie when someone cleared their throat loudly. She turned and glared, only to spot Jagged looking sheepish.
"Penny has an issue with Fang." he spoke.
Marinette sighed, "He got into the closet again, didn't he?"
"F-Fang?" Steph questioned, still reeling over Marinette's identity.
"Uncle Jagged's pet crocodile." Mari answered.
"Sorry, Cupcake." Jagged apologized.
"It was nice to see you again, Stephanie." Marinette declared and handed her back her Raycon, "I'm sure I'll see you at another gala. I…have to go wrangle a crocodile and save what is left of my deisgns."
Stephanie stood on the middle of the dance floor. She watched as people quickly stepped out of her way with Jagged Stone, apologizing. She didn't even notice Tim approach her.
"What's got you all twisted?" he asked, causing her to break contact.
"New crush on the designer." she whispered, looking back to where she had left.
"Already?" Tim questioned.
Stephanie nodded.
"Well, that should stop Bruce from adopting her." he chuckled.
"Sooooo?" Jagged teased, as Marinette looked over her design book, "You have a thing for blondes?"
Marinette could feel her cheeks heat up, but kept her eyes focused on her sketches.
"I don't know, yet." she replied.
"Does she have green eyes?" he questioned.
"Blue." Mari answered.
"The song was for her, wasn't it?" Jagged asked.
Marinette merely nodded.
"Think you have a chance with this one?" he prodded.
"Yes." Marinette answered with a smile, "She liked my song."
Jagged merely smiled as his designer continued to focus on her designs.

MDC Commissions: The Ghost King
(A series of one shots where Marinette has some extremely unusual clients. What could possible go wrong? ao3)
When Marinette moved to Gotham after retiring as Ladybug, she had expected craziness and chaos. And living with her biological father and his family, had made her believe that she had seen everything. For example, when she sat down to breakfast that morning she had been fully prepared to see Damian and Jason engaged in a rubber band war over the head of a slumped Tim, who couldn't decide if he was awake or asleep. She didn't flinch to see Dick balancing six trays of breakfast food, while Alfred followed him with barely concealed panic. She didn't even raise an eyebrow when Bruce came in with bag under his eyes, and switched Tim's coffee with his own empty mug. Barbara rolling in arguing about the probability of aliens owning all of the bowling alleys with Duke was a completely casual conversation. And Steph filming everything while she cackled was just the cherry on top.
She sat down next to Cass (the only other kid who was quiet), as Dick precariously started setting down the trays, and Bruce called for his other two sons to sit down. They were getting a little violent, and he wasn't having much luck. It was only once the last tray was on the table, that everyone finally settled down to eat, but Marinette had a feeling that it was only a matter of time before Jason and Damian decided to start chucking food at each other. At which point, Dick would yell "Food Fight" and they'd all be required by sibling law to join in. However, Marinette was not prepared for what happened literally two seconds after everyone was seated.
Alfred had just set down the coffee pot, causing Tim to jerk awake, when a bright flash of light in the middle of the table had everyone leaping into a fighting stance. They stood silent as they watched the glowing ball of light drift lazily around the table and settle in front of her. She squinted as it flashed blindingly before dropping something on her plate with an audible "Thunk." Marinette blinked the stars out of her eyes and stared down at a thick, glowing green scroll. It was very official looking with a glowing green wax seal and a golden center.
Marinette stared at it in wonder, and took a long sip of her coffee. It was far to early for this.
"Uh Mari," Dick was the first to speak as they all stared at the scroll. "What's that?"
She looked up at him blank faced, "It's a scroll Dick."
"I know that but---" Dick scoffed but Steph interrupted him with an eager,
"What's it say?"
"I wouldn't open it Mars," Duke said hesitantly, "That green light around it is...well it's some powerful other worldly shit, I'll say that much."
"Hmm," Marinette hummed.
"Still," Barbara said, "We can't ignore it. What if it's Guardian business?"
"Has the Order ever contacted you this way before?" Bruce asked eyeing the thing like it was a bomb full of joker gass.
"Nope," Marinette said still not moving.
"We should destroy it," Damian said simply reaching for the sword he had stashed under the table.
"Bad idea," Cass said softly, "Important."
"But it could be a trap," Tim said lifting his mug and staring in confusion when he found it empty. "I can run some tests on it maybe."
"I'm with Demon," Jason said gruffly, "That thing is giving me the heebie jeebies."
"Did you just say heebie jeebies?" Stephanie said in confusion.
"Whatever it is I don't think you should touch it Mari," Bruce said.
"Seriously Jay?" Steph said, "Heebie Jeebies?"
"I agree with father," Damian said tensely, "This thing reeks of magic. Perhaps we should call a magic user."
"I can call Zatanna," Dick offered.
"Heebie jeebies?"
"Let it go Steph, this is serious!"
 "But...heebie jeebies?"
The dinning room descended into utter chaos literally not even five minutes into their meal. Marinette sighed and took another sip of her coffee as her family yelled around her. She had been up all night helping Barbara with Oracle stuff and finishing up some designs for her company. And listening to her siblings fight over how to deal with ominous glowing scrolls that appeared during their breakfast was not how she wanted to start the morning. She opened her purse and Tikki flew out to look at the scroll, as Jason knocked over his chair about to launch at Steph. Tikki nodded as Dick moved to stop Jason from attacking Steph. This time Cass had taken over recording the insanity.
Everyone froze as Marinette picked up the scroll. But nothing happened. She didn't suddenly combust or summon hellfire upon them all, so she took that as a good sign and broke the seal. Immediately, her entire family began to panic and some even lunged to snatch the scroll away from her. Marinette leaped back keeping the scroll as far away from them as she could. She sent them a confused, disapproving look as if to say, "Back off it's my magic scroll get your own!" But she read the words out loud just the same.
"To the right honorable, MDC, from the court of his Majesty the Ruler of the Infinite Realms, The Ghost King, Guardian of the Eternal Souls, Protector of the Living World, The Sleepless One, The Halfa, Keeper of the Abyss, etc. Greetings.
His majesty humbly requests your services in the designing of his coronation attire for his ascension to the throne of the Deathless King. Should you accept this most honorable, and glorious commission, simply preform the included spell before the end of five days. Preferably between 4 and 5 o'clock central. Money is no object unless you wish some other form of Eternal payment. In which case, terms will have to be agreed upon in person. You will also be invited, along with a guest of your choosing, to witness this most monumental event within the Infinite Realms.
Kindest Regards,
The King's Advisor, Physician, and Head Scientist, and Leader of the Far Frozen
Frostbite. "
Marinette looked up at her family who were staring at her in awe. None of them quiet new how to take this, so for a moment there was complete silence. In her head Marinette began counting down, "Three...two...one." And the entire dinning room erupted into chaos. Marinette just sighed as she returned her attention to the commission. "What even is my life?" she muttered.
Marinette summoned the Ghost King in the private studio at her fashion house. She reserved this studio for her VIP commissions like Jagged, Clara, Diana, and her family. At that moment it was just her, Jason, and the kwamis, which was already causing chaos as half of the little gods flew around in an attempt to help without actually helping. Jason was making no attempt to corral them like he had promised to do, and instead decided to just stand and scowl as Marinette prepared the summoning circle exactly as it was depicted on the scroll. Marinette had just wanted it to be her and the kwamis, but her family all resolutely refused. Apparently, summoning an unknown, mythical, entity of unquestionable power by herself was not something they were comfortable with. So they compromised and decided that Jason was best suited to over see the meeting. After all, one of the titles was "the Ghost King" and Jason was a zombie...technically.
Still Marinette wasn't sure how well he would do in a fight. If it came to that, then the kwamis would be her best shot at protecting them. She wasn't sure how Jason's guns would do against something called, "The Keeper of the Abyss." Still she was glad he was here, in a way. "Alright!" she said standing, "It's ready!"
"Hmph," Jason grunted, "I don't like this, Pixie."
"Oh come on," Marinette said with a smile as she tried to hide her own terror, "Don't tell me you're not a little bit curious."
Jason shook his head and muttered something about not wanting to die again, which Marinette elected to ignore. Instead she began the chant and called upon the Ghost King, the Ruler of the Infinite Realms, The Bringer of the Frost, Guardian of the Eternal Souls, Protector of the Living World, The Sleepless One, The Halfa, Keeper of the Abyss, etc. " Man this guy has a lot of titles," she thought. The runes began to glow as the light began to melt upward into a swirling portal of ink and stars. The edges of the portal were wrapped in a shifting green cloud that reminded Marinette of the Lazarus Pit. "That's...probably...not a good sign," she thought but it was too late. Because a white hand emerged from the blackness and Marinette felt the magic in the room surge with the sudden pressure of power. She gasped, and her breath came our in a cloud as the hand was followed by a foot. The kwami gathered around her ready to fight, and Jason's hand flew to his gun. They all held their breath as the Ruler of the Infinite Realms emerged, in all of his power and glory.
"All I'm saying, Jazz, is that I don't see the point! I mean it's not like I'm going to be dressing like this while I'm king!" A teenage boy cried as he stepped casually from the portal.
"It's not about you, Danny!" said the tall, red haired woman who followed him into the studio, "It's about your subjects. They need to see that you're taking this seriously, so they know to take you seriously. By presenting yourself as a king before them, they will be more likely to trust you as their king."
"She's right Danny," said a goth goth girl, "You're entering the world of high ghostly society. In those circles image is everything whether your alive or dead. Ha, you're gonna love it!"
The boy, Danny, groaned into his hands, and then turned to face Marinette and Jason who were staring in quiet shock and confusion. "Hi!" He said stepping forward holding out his hand to shake, "I'm Danny Phantom, future King of the Infinite Realms, nice to meet ya!"
Marinette blue screened for a moment as she took in her client. This...was not what she was expecting. She had been fully prepared to meet some sort of strange eldritch animal/human/void type hybrid. Instead she got a teenage, human boy who couldn't have been older than 16. The only thing unusual about was his snow white hair, and glowing green eyes. She could work with this. So, Marinette smiled and shook his hand, "Marinette Dupain-Cheng-Wayne, MDC, the pleasure is all mine. And this is my brother, Jason Todd, he's going to be assisting us today!"
Danny looked over at Jason and gaped, "Dude!" he exclaimed, "You core is messed up! What happened to you?!"
"Danny!" the red head, Jazz exclaimed, "Be nice! I'm sorry," she said addressing Jason, "My brother might be one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse, but he's still a teenager and often forgets his manners. I'm Jazz by the way!" She held out her hand, and Jason numbly shook it as his eyes expressed that he was still trying to mentally process what was happening.
"And I'm Sam," the goth girl said stepping forward as the portal closed behind her, "I'm a big fan of your work, Miss. MDC. Your eco friendly punk spring collection was truly inspired!"
"Thank you," Marinette said with a smile, "And I see you're wearing some of it! I have to say, the way you've dressed up the vest is amazing, I never would have thought to match it with that color skirt!"
Sam blushed as she straighten the faux dark green leather vest. Jason then took the opportunity to speak up saying, "I hate to interrupt but...what's the story here?"
"Oh," Danny said as they all moved toward the couches that surrounded the circular stage, where the finished products would be touched up and fitted. "Well you see our parents," he gestured between himself and his sister, "are scientists who for some reason decided to study ghosts."
"We thought they were crazy!" Jazz exclaimed with a desperate laugh.
"They are crazy," Sam said, "Just turns our they were also right."
"They built a portal to what they called the Ghost Zone," Danny explained, "It's kind of like the afterlife in between afterlives. A realm between realms...sort of...it's complicated. And that's not really the point, the point is, they thought it didn't work. Until, Sam, Tucker and I were goofing off in the lab and there was an...'accident.'"
"And you died?!" Marinette asked in concerned.
"Yes, no, sorta kinda," Danny said casually, "I half died. I'm half dead. I'm half ghost."
"The technical term is Halfa," Jazz explained.
"Danny is alive," Sam said, "But at the same time, he's dead."
"Schrodinger's kid," Jason muttered, and Danny beamed.
"Yeah, you see! This guy gets it!" He exclaimed. "So anyway, now that the portal was open someone had to make sure that the ghosts didn't overwhelm the land of the living, and vise versa. And since I am both living and dead, I was the only one who could do it."
Marinette twisted one of her earrings with a glance at Tikki, who was shuffling the other kwamis out of sight since there was clearly no danger, "I get that."
She and Danny exchanged an understanding look, before he continued, "Yeah, well, one of those ghosts turned out to be the actual Ghost King who had gone all tyrant, and tried to disrupt the balance between life and death thus destroying both realms. I might have beaten him in single combat thus accidently becoming the next Ghost King."
"How do you accidently become the Ghost King?" Jason said incredulously.
"By beating the former monarch in single combat, I thought we just established that?" Danny said.
"Any way," Jazz said purposefully, "Danny was still in high school at the time, so he couldn't exactly claim the throne. And besides there was a lot about inter-death politics that he had to learn. So we had to hold off on the coronation until he was ready."
"And now here you are!" Marinette said brightly.
"Here we are!" Danny said in return. "Got to say though, randomly becoming the guardian of one of the cornerstones of all existence before all before my 18th birthday, not how I expected my life to turn out. But like you said 'here we are!'"
Marinette glanced at the kwami again and said softly, "Yeah, I get that to."
Danny cocked his head at her, as his glowing green eyes met her piercing blue one. He nodded and said, "Alright then, let's get started shall we. I'm trusting you, Blue eyes!"
Jason scowled at the nickname, but Marinette chuckled and retrieved her tape measure, but stopped as she took in his outfit. It looked like a black and white, rubber hazmat suit that was custom made to fit him. It wasn't the worst thing she had ever seen, and the flaming D, she guessed was a nice touch, but it the girls were right. It didn't scream "King of the Infinite Realms." But it raised a pressing question for her.
"So how do your clothes work?"
"Uh...well...let's see," Danny said as he looked down at his outfit. "Well I suppose I should explain how ghosts work. You see all of this," he gestured to his face and limbs with exaggerated motions, "Is basically all ectoplasm, energy, and magic shaped by the self image of my psyche. So I can shift it to change based on my self image, and that includes my clothes, if I focus. The thing holding it all together is my core." He tapped is chest where his heart should have been. "Basically it's like a...vessel? Yeah, a vessel for my psyche, or spirit, or soul, whatever word you want to use."
"So do you want me to just draw you an outfit, and then you can shift your clothes into that. It might be easier."
"Nuh-uh," Sam said, "That wont work. He can shapeshift, but it's not his specialty. He always shifts back within thirty minutes or sometimes less."
Jazz nodded, "The best thing would be to make him an outfit for his human form, and then he can shift to match that. We can even infuse the fabrics with some of his ectoplasm, so it will be easier for his psyche to recognize it as a part of him."
Marinette froze at the phrasing, and suddenly why Danny was so hesitant to change his ghostly look. His clothes were a part of his self image. This was how his spirit perceived his existence. Marinette began studying hit clothes a lot more closely. Any thing she did could alter his self image for all of eternity, if she wasn't careful. Marinette took a deep breath. This was probably going to end up being the most important piece of her career. "Ok," she said allowing her voice to communicate to Danny just how serious she was taking this commission. "I think I understand. In that case, I'm going to need measurements of both your human form, and your ghost form. If there are any discrepancies, I'm going to need to know now."
Danny smiled softly at her. "Ok." And there was no more arguing or complaining, as he stood patiently while she took his measurements, first in his ghost form, and then in his human form. Jason was writing down the numbers diligently. Almost too diligently, but Marinette understood his silence when he said,
"So this core thing...you said I had one but there was something wrong with it."
"Hmm," Danny said, "Oh yeah. Did you die and get resurrected or something?" Jason nodded silently, completely engrossed in the notepad. "Well, whoever did it did an awful job!"
"Danny!" Jazz exclaimed.
"What? It's true!"
"But that's not how you say it. I am so sorry Jason, my brother can be a little insensitive."
"No it's ok," Jason said, "I'd rather have it blunt and honest, than sugar coated. So what's wrong with me?"
"Nothing's wrong with you per se," Danny mused after a moment of studying Jason. "So obviously you died. And the circumstances were just right so that instead of going to one of the 'afterlives' you went to the space between, the Infinite Realms. Which is probably why you don't remember what happened in between your two lives. Am I right?"
"You'd know better than me," Jason laughed dryly. 'Like you said I don't remember."
"Probably for the best. But anyway," Danny continued, "When you were resurrected, it was done very badly, because you're core is warped. Don't worry it's still intact, so your spirit's safe. But the warped core combined with the corrupted ectoplasm running through your veins! Yeesh! Frankly I'm surprised you're not frothing at the mouth, homicidal maniac right now. Cause that amount of contamination is not good for you mental stability."
The siblings froze and exchanged desperate, almost hopeful looks. "The pit madness," Marinette whispered.
"I get...angry sometimes," Jason explained. "I see green, and then red, and then I...I hurt people."
The girls looked at him with pity, but Danny just nodded with understanding. "Makes sense," was all he said, but Marinette could instantly see the relief of those words wash over Jason's whole being. She knew how much he fought, how much he struggled with his sanity. They tried to help, but pit madness wasn't like normal mental illnesses. It was steeped in ancient magic and the forces of nature them selves. In the end the only advice any of the could logistically give Jason was to fight it. Therapy could give him tools, but when push came to shove none of them understood what it was like.
And to have someone, anyone, say that it made sense. That his reactions to the corruption inside him were not strange, abnormal or grotesque. To have his actions fit inside the bounds of an expected response, a symptom of something that could be categorized...Marinette could not imagine the relief Jason must have been feeling. But it whatever his emotions were they all seemed to be summed up in his next chocked out words, “Is…is there a cure.”
“Yeah, of course there is!” Danny said with his cheerful casualness, that broke all of Jason’s carefully crafted walls. “I can schedule an appointment for you with Frostbite. He’s done some incredible research into the development of Ghost cores. Once, he filters that ectoplasm in your blood stream, it shouldn’t be too difficult to get your core back to it’s proper shape. You’ll have to spend a few days in the Ghost Zone, a week at most. But then your core will start filtering and shaping the ectoplasm on it’s own…think of it as a liver transplant, but with magic and shit.”
“Wow,” Jason breathed. “I…uh…ha…I.t…thank you!”
Danny smiled, “Eh, what are kings for. I mean you are technically one of my subjects.”
“I’m sorry,” Jason said still smiling.
Danny grinned. “When you die, again, you’ll go to the Ghost Zone. My zone. You’re stuck with me buddy!”
Jason threw back his head with a clear bright laugh that was all too rare in Marinette’s opinion. And hearing it now as it rang with hope and joy, only made Marinette’s smile brighter and fuller. They continued to talk about what it would take to get Jason to the Ghost Zone for his “core transplant” as Danny was now calling it. And Marinette was slowly getting a clearer picture of what she was going to make for the young king.
When she finished her measurements and pulled out her note book to start some rough sketches, she turned back to Danny and said, “Ok so we can talk about what you don’t want once I have some ideas mapped out. But first I want to know if there is anything that you do want. A favorite color, a piece of jewelry, a type of belt, anything like that?”
“Your symbol,” Sam said immediately. “You need to have your symbol.”
“I think you should keep your usual color scheme,” Jazz said calmly, “It’s like your signature.”
“Danny?” Marinette asked pointedly.
He thought for a moment and the grinned saying, “Can I get a cape?”
The girls rolled their eyes, and Jason put his head in his hand. But Marinette just beamed and said, “I’ll see what I can do.”

Bio dad Bruce Part 1
Wattpad , part~2 , part~3,...
Note-My characters may not be like the original dc universe as i haven't watched/read the dc universe .Everything i know is from many fanfics that i have read .hope y'all enjoy it.
Marinette had to go to Gotham. Now you would think why are we even talking about this well the thing is tom isn't her biological father he is her step dad. Well who is her biological father you ask none other than Bruce Wayne. And the problem you see is that till she was 5 she lived with her father but on her 6th birthday he dropped her at her mother's house and never returned.
6 year old Marinette thought her father hated her and that is why he didn't want her there. Marinette started living with her mother and found out that she liked it here in paris with her mother and step dad.
Now she is 22 a successful designer and singer known as MDC and Nettie and her dad (that is her legal guardian jagged stone)was doing a concert in gotham and wanted her to be there. Now you might ask how this happened. Well liela rossi happened, when she was in high school everyone liked her because of her personality and behaviour but then this liar came and started telling lies and her classmates the bunch of morons that they are believed the liar over their friend even though many of them knew her from childhood. they started ignoring her and calling her mean things. At first marinette was very hurt first her father and now her friends. The only one that knew that the liar was lying was her ex crush and he advised her to take the high road the coward that he was.
So after her ex moronic friends started ignoring her she had much free time and started her own bussiness at first she didn't have many customers as the website was started by a newbie but then jagged stone announced that his personal designer was MDC and thus her business started blowing/blossoming this was 4 years before.
Somehow her classmates got to her parents and worse they believed it and told her to leave their house as a bully and someone who had disgraced them wasn't their daughter . This was the last straw for Marinette as everyone she had loved had left her except her friend Luka, jagged stone and penny Jagged's assistance .Marinette packed her stuff there wasn't much as she had bought a studio after her business had skyrocketed so she took the few things she had and left as she was leaving Sabine and Tom looked at her and for the first time saw that Marinette wasn't showing any emotion and was wearing something which had no pink at all and her hair was in a french braid she left without saying anything.
her hair but in midnight blue colour.

After a month of leaving her home jagged returned to paris as he was doing a tour and when he asked mari where to come to collect his clothes she gave him a different address which wasn't the bakery now jagged didn't know about liela rossi as mari didn't want to burden him but as jagged care for marinette as a daughter he knew there was something amiss in her life and he was waiting for her to tell him what it was.
When he reached the address mari opened the door and let him in as he was looking around he saw there was a kitchen and a room and studio he asked her,"blueberry are you living here?"
"u-um yes i am" she replied looking nervous.

Enchanted Chapter II
<Prev
Marinette has decided.
Jagged Stone should never, ever be allowed in another of these Wayne Galas.
If he’s normally difficult to handle by himself, then he’s absolutely insufferable now that he has company that eggs him on!
Now I understand why Penny almost begged me to come…
Not only does she have to take care of Jagged on a daily basis as his manager and long standing friend, now she also has to reign in his childhood friend because lord knows what would happen if they were to be left unattended…
Honestly, Marinette was expecting more from this Bruce Wayne guy. Jagged talked her ears off about how amazing of a friend he is and all his accomplishments and the work he does for charity and the community. Even Penny joined in saying how great he is.
But, so far, all she’s seen of this guy is him drinking his brains out along with Jagged and making themselves look like fools.
And none of his sons seem to be around to reign him in either. be it because he’s like Jagged and can’t be reigned in, or they just don’t care enough to do it.
Hopefully they aren’t as bad as he is at these events…
Now that she’s done the whole “introduce to the childhood best friend” part of her duties as her honorary Uncle’s plus one, she’s going off and as far away from these “grown adults” as possible.
Maybe I’ll be able to find the gentleman from the balcony - ahhh - what are you thinking, Marinette?!
She had removed her mask while in the corner she found in the garden - wearing a mask all night long is tiring and restricting, even if she insists on using it to keep her identity secret until she feels comfortable sharing it with the world.
She wasn’t expecting to turn around and make eye contact with the gentleman on the balcony. It was quite a distance from where she was, but after years of being Ladybug, all her senses have been greatly amplified - eyesight included - so it came as no surprise when she managed to make eye contact with him, if only for the fact that it allowed her to see his beautiful green eyes.
Maybe Kagami IS right and I do have a thing for green eyed men…
It’s such a pity that it was a short encounter, being interrupted by Luka calling her back inside to meet the famous Bruce Wayne.
Stealing one last glance his way, she placed her mask back on and turned around.
Now, after having complied with her duties as a plus one, she’s basically free to do whatever, and she’ll take advantage of that and try to find the mysterious green eyed, ginger gentleman.
Maybe mingling with the socialites of Gotham would help in finding him
The thought made her shudder, but for some reason something told her that she needed to meet him. And if there’s anything the Kwamis Guardian training has taught her, it was to trust her instincts, and right now, they were SCREAMING at her to at least find out his name before the end of the party.
The reason? She did not know, but she also did not completely mind it.
So, with a new mission in mind, she left off to find him.
--------------------------------------------------------------
After dropping Lian off at the kids section, Roy moved to the bar hoping to find Jason.
And if he paid more attention to the people in the ballroom in search of the midnight haired Garden Fairy, no one needed to know.
“Who are you looking for?” Jason said, startling him out of his musings.
“Wow, are you ok dude? What got you so distracted that you got startled by that??”
He was so lost in his mind that he didn’t even notice he’d reached the bar and Jason had approached him.
He’ll never let this go if he knows that I got distracted over a woman
“Sorry, I was just thinking about having to leave Lian alone” please buy this, please buy this. Roy knew it was a losing battle, but he could at least try, right?
“Yeah, yeah. dad of the year award and all that bullshit, congrats. I mean who’s the woman that got you distracted like that, you idiot.”
“It’s not-”
“And don’t give me that crap. I know you Roy, you can deceive yourself, but you definitely can’t lie to me. The only reason other people fall for it is because they’re either not trained like us, or they don’t know you. Now spill them beans bitch.”
“Fine.” and with a long sigh, Roy explained about how he found a Fairy out in the gardens and how he felt like he absolutely had to find her again.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA- I’M SORRY- HAHAHA- A FAIRY! A GARDEN FAIRY HAHAHA! you’ve definitely been playing too many fairytale fantasies with Lian!” Jason said between gasps of breath while trying not to die of laughter.
Roy knew that this was coming, but it was just ridiculous. Come on, he’s a dedicated dad and “Garden Fairy” was definitely the most suitable of names for the beauty in the middle of the well cared for greenery!
“Haha, we got it, it’s hilarious! Are you going to help me find her or not?” Roy rolled his eyes when Jason was still gasping for breath and trying to stifle his laugh at the same time, which wasn’t exactly working.
“I’m sorry, haha, I will! Of course I will! Just thinking about the last time you got laid makes me want to cry for you, so of course I’ll help when you show interest in a woman for the first time in almost 6 years now. She could be the one you know!”
insert deadpan look “Are you for real now Jason? And I’m the one playing too many fantasies with Lian? What about you and your romances? Aren’t you sticking your nose too far into the books at the newest book store around the corner of that one safe house?”
“Hey! Those books need to be read. They’re masterpieces that you’d never even imagine yourself to be able to understand. The sentences are immaculate, the plot is well plotted, no holes in a single chapter. The reading is so smooth it’s like laying on a bed with brand new silk sheets, it’s-”
“Ok nerd, I got it! You like reading them and I’m an idiot who will never get it, now get your romantic brain to work and help me find her”
“Alright, alright. Bossy much?”
“I heard that.”
After all the bickering, both men turned and discretely glanced at the crowd while making short conversation, looking for Roy’s mysterious Garden Fairy.
It took a bit, but finally, his eyes found her form. For some reason, she was now wearing a red, black and gold mask that she wasn’t previously wearing in the garden, and that may have contributed to how long it took to find her.
She was talking with a family that owned some sort of textile company in Old Gotham, but her eyes were glancing around the room, seemingly looking for something. Or maybe someone.
He didn’t like alluding himself, because it could not be true, and the disappointment would be too much to handle. But she really seemed to be looking for someone, and each time she failed to do so, he could see her nose scrunching - even with the mask - and the disappointment was clear in her bluebell eyes.
He was begging every entity to have her eyes meet his, and it seemed his prayers paid off, because not even a second later, her eyes landed on his. He saw recognition flash through them and a bit of pink took over the part of her face he could see. He was happy to see that reaction on her, it meant that she wasn’t completely uninterested as he had feared she would.
He started moving towards her and hoped he could convey in their conversation with their eyes, just how fascinated he was to have found her in those gardens earlier and that he would like to know more about her.
—————————————-
Marinette saw the ginger gentleman from the balcony move towards her, and from his eyes, she could tell he was just as interested in finding out more about her as she was about him.
So, turning away from the prospective business partners, she moved towards him, eventually standing only a couple feet from each other almost in the middle of the dance floor.
Glancing at the people already waltzing, she turned towards the ginger gentleman, an invitation clear in her eyes.
He took a step closer, hand reaching out for hers, and in the smoothest voice she’d ever heard, he asked her for a dance.
She placed her gloved hand on his inviting one, and that was all he needed to pull her closer and start the waltz that would change their lives.

I'm Here to stay.
Chapter one.
Marinette al ghul was the younger twin sister of Damian al ghul and the granddaughter of Ra’s al ghul.
She and her brother were both trained from birth to be assassins and claim their rightful place as demon head.
But Marinette knew the truth.
There could only be one heir to the demon and it wasn’t her.
They both knew it.
Which is why Damian understood when his sister left when the chance finally presented itself a week after their eighth birthday.
His sister wasn’t meant to be an assassin she was too full of light to stay in the darkness that was the league of assassins.
He understood. but that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt.
While Damian was in the shadows Marinette was always meant to shine bright.

Marinette successfully left the league of assassins despite the resistance she faced while escaping.
She survived and somehow found herself in Paris.
Her plans to skip through the city and to London on a train were thwarted when she was spotted.
Normally Marinette would never be caught, she was a trained assassin, she could infiltrate and take down countries overnight, getting caught by a someone is an insult to her training.
But she was tired. And injured. She had been on the run for weeks now. And the person who caught her wasn’t just anyone either, it was Xiao Bing, Talia al ghul’s right hand before she disappeared on a mission a few years back.
Despite her various injuries she took on a fighting stance, she did not flee from the league just to die in Paris of all places.
To her surprise and shock Xiao Bing did not attack instead calmly walked forward with her arms raised in a show of mean no harm.
“Your supposed to be dead.” Marinette hissed still on guard.
“And your supposed be back in Nanda Parbat.” Xiao casually replied while checking her injuries.
Marinette narrowed her eyes, shifting her stance “What are you doing in Paris?”
“It’s a beautiful city thought I’d stay here for a while.” Xiao replied.
Marinette’s hand went to the dagger at her hip , eyes never straying from Xiao’s, glaring her down “Don’t lie to me.”
Both of them were now glaring at each other.
Xiao gave in first and looked down.
She sighed and looked back up at Marinette slumping in defeat “On my last mission I found myself in Paris, I met someone and fell in love. I realized there was more to more to life than the league, I did not want to be an assassin …so I left”. – she showed her wedding ring – “I got married and run a bakery with my husband now.”
Marinette stared at her in shock, a rare show of emotion because holy shit one of the deadliest assassins in the world married in the city of love and bakes bread for a living.
After a few a moments of silence, awkward on one side and incredulous disbelief on the other Xiao spoke up again “Would you like to come with me? the cut on your shoulders needs to be treated and you look like you haven’t eaten in days.”
Marinette wanted to decline and run the second she could but Xiao Bing’s body language indicated that she really was genuine in wanting to help and food did sound really good right now. plus Xiao Bing could easily catch up with her if she ran and she didn’t think she could win a fight in her condition. So, she hesitantly agreed.

The bakery was in the heart of the city packed to the brim with customers. You could smell the baked goods from a street away.
They entered the bakery through the backdoor and Xiao vaguely explained the situation to her husband (Marinette nearly took a step back when she saw how big he was) and he ushered them upstairs, to apparently where their apartment was.
The apartment was cosy unlike her room at the league and had a lot of pictures and decorations that made it feel lived in. Marinette kind of liked it.
After stitching up her wounds and eating the most Marinette had in weeks, Xiao handed her a set of fresh clothes to change into “These clothes should fit you well enough, tell me if you need anything else.”
Marinette looked up at her in gratitude “Thank you Xiao Bing.”
Xiao smiled softly at her “ I go by Sabine Cheng now and your welcome to stay for as long as you want.”
By the end of the week Marinette al ghul officially became Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

Thirteen-year-old Marinette Dupain-Cheng was staring at the hexagonal box on her desk in shock.
She recognised the symbol on the box.
It was the symbol of the Order of Guardians.
She hesitantly approached the box opening it with shaking hands hoping it was not what she thought it was.
A bright flash of light blinded her, she took out her dagger and pointed it at the light on instinct.
“Hello Marinett- eeep” Tikki cut herself off once she saw the dagger.
Not waiting for even a second she harshly questioned the kwami who was blinking owlishly at the dagger that was pointed at her.
“Why was I given a miraculous?”
Tikki’s gaze snapped to Marinette at that “You know what a miraculous is?” she asked confused and with a hint of panic laced in her voice.
Marinette nodded, warily watching the kwami –who was not supposed to be here. Her fingers were clenched firmly on the dagger that was still pointed at the god “I know all about the Miraculous especially the Black cat and the Ladybug. Now answer my question.”
Tikki seemed hesitant but answered the girl who was supposed to be her chosen “You were chosen to be a hero along with your partner, the black cat to protect Paris from the butterfly holder.”
Marinette completely stilled at that, her eyes widened and jaw dropping in shock because she’s not a hero she’s a killer– nope don’t think about it, now is not the time for a breakdown Marinette you can’t show any weakness, do what you do best, and pretend that everything is fine. She steeled herself, masking her emotions but she couldn’t help the incredulous tone her voice took. “You want me to be a Hero. Look the Guardian choose the wrong person, I’m not a Hero.”
Tikki whipped around to Marinette so fast she nearly fell out of the air. The expression on Tikki’s face would have made Marinette laugh if not for the current ...situation “You know about the Guardian too! how do you know about the Guardian!?”
They were interrupted from their riveting conversation (read: hostile interrogation) by an emergency broadcast reporting on a stone being tearing down the streets.
Both Marinette and Tikki turned to face the computer playing the news, watching in horror as Stoneheart threw a car at a crowd of people panicking and trying to evacuate the area, the civilians scrambled trying to get out of the way but it was inevitable that not everyone escaped, watching as blood slowly pooled around the car with someone’s arm sticking out from under it before it was blurred and censored for the viewers.
Despite their efforts the police were useless in trying to contain him.
It was silent for a while. Marinette was processing. While she was used to seeing blood and bodies and was long since desensitized to it. But the fact that there currently seemed to be no plausible way (other than to don the earrings) to stop Stoneheart made her queasy.

Tikki broke the silence, there was a calculating look in her eyes as she studied Marinette. “Marinette, you know how the miraculous works don’t you?”
No this is not going there– “I do but–”
“Then you need to go out there and stop the akuma.” Tikki’s interrupted, voice sharp but there seemed to be kind edge to it.
I’m not– I can’t be a hero “I’m not a Hero, I–”
“Hero or not you were chosen for a reason, people are going die and you are the only one who can save them.” Tikki was firm, staring intently at Marinette her blue eyes piercing Marinette’s soul.
“I–” Marinette wanted to protest because there is no way in hell she could even be considered a hero of any sort but Tikki was right people were going to die, and if there was even a chance that she could save these people then she would take it because if she didn’t, their blood would then be on her hands and she can’t afford to have any more red on her ledger, she can’t waste time arguing right now, she’s got to go out there and help even if all she ever knowns to do is hurt and cause pain, so she’s going to pretend. Pretend to be a hero. Pretend for once that she isn’t the villain but the person saving the day. Pretend just until Stoneheart is defeated so she can return the earrings.
Marinette took a deep breath and picked up the miraculous just barely managing to stop the shaking in her hands. She hesitated before putting them on and glanced at Tikki, who smiled encouragingly at her, and put the earrings on. She clenched her eyes shut praying that she made the right decision and transformed “Tikki spots on.”
She felt power rush through her, her conscience merging with that of a God. It was unlike anything shed ever experienced. Unlike the Lazarus pit which felt like drowning and acid burning through your skin, clouding her mind with vengeance. Tikki’s power felt warm, like the sun or like running through a grass field during spring. It felt safe, content, happy. It felt right.
She looked down at her costume in awe..
Her transformation was similar to her league attire but enough to differentiate hero from assassin. Her weapons were more or less the same with the addition of a yoyo. The green was replaced with red. She had a black mask covering the lower half of the face and a hood covering her braided hair and casting a shadow over her face so the only thing visible were her iridescent blue eyes.
But the most shocking would be her wings that are normally hidden to look like a cape, but would stretch out into beautiful transparent ladybug wings.
She felt the fabric, It looked to be made of a mix of metal, Kevlar, spandex and something else but was impossibly light of a material. She admired the costume, before snapping out of her trance by a scream.

Marinette dropped back into her room after defeating Stoneheart detransforming mid flip (boy was she glad that she kept up with her training even after leaving the league)
Chat noir seemed to have a little experience in a type of sword fighting probably fencing but was otherwise untrained.
She was snapped out of thoughts by Tikki clearing her throat “I have a few questions.”
Marinette sighed and looked down at her feet she knew this was coming “Ask away.”
“How do you know of Miraculous and about the Guardian?”
Well here goes nothing “My grandfather has told me and my brother all about the Miraculous – jewellery that bestows its wearer unimaginable power, that it’s inhabited by gods. He had a lot of stories to tell, especially of you and your counterpart Plagg.”
Tikki’s eyes narrowed in suspicion and curiosity. “And who is your grandfather?”
Marinette looked down shrinking in on herself – she knew what would happen after this, Tikki would think she’s a murderer and she would be right. After all the things she did while with the league being called a murderer would almost be too merciful–
Marinette steeled her nerves and stuffed her emotions, readying her self for the backlash she was sure to get, looked Tikki in eye and uttered a name that truly did belong to a demon. “Ra’s al ghul.”
Tikki gasped at that, eyes blown wide–because no even he’s not that cruel. The girl standing in front of her is just a child, he couldn’t have–
Marinette started rambling at Tikki’s silence, barely managing to hide the tears that pricked her eyes. “I told you I’m not a Hero, I’ve got blood on my hands. I understand if you want me to return the earrings. I will willingly give them to the Guardian as soon as possible. I’m sure you don’t want a monster like me to be your holder–”
“No.” Tikki cut Marinette off, voice firm and dark far from the cheery tone she normally has.
“What?” Marinette looked up to see the floating god through blurry eyes, the sudden remark shocking her out of her spiral.
Tikki was furious and radiated danger, but softened at the confused and hurt voice of her chosen. She flew up to Marinette and looked her in the eyes, her voice strong and firm “You are not a monster.”
Marinette went shock still.
Tikki continued not bothered by Marinette’s silence “And I’m not mad at you, I’m mad at Ra’s. It’s not your fault that you were born the granddaughter of a demon, who is obsessed with immortality.”
Marinette was silent for a few moments’ eyes wide. Then spoke up softy. “Why don’t you hate me, you know who I am, you know what I’ve done why?” Why was Tikki still here? why wasn’t she running away with the earrings why doesn’t Tikki hate her? Does Tikki not understand that the miraculous are in danger here with her? Why?
“Oh Marinette I don’t hate you, you were a child, still are, you should not have gone through all the horrors that you have.”
“You don’t understand, I’ve tortured and killed people all for information or a mission. I was raised as a weapon; all I do is inflict hurt. I’m a killer, a murderer ...a monster.” A traitorous tear slipped down her cheek.
Tikki’s voice was carefully controlled not to show her rage “You are not a monster Marinette; you’ve just had a hard life did what you had to do to survive. You may have been raised to hurt, but that’s not who you are. You are not just a weapon Marinette you are so much more than that.”
Marinette miserably looked up at her – she did not deserve her sympathy, not after all she’s done –
“B‐but I’m not a good person. I’ve done horrible things–”
“Do you regret doing it” Tikki cut in, looking at Marinette in the eye, not willing to let this go.
Marinette hesitated for a moment, but steely resolve flashed in her eyes “Yes.” Her answer was barely a whisper but cut through the silence in the room like whip.
“Do you want to make up for all the pain you caused.” Tikki stared at Marinette like she could look through her very soul.
“I do.” Marinette replied softly, not a single doubt in her mind, her thoughts clear for the first time in a long while.
“Then I don’t think you’re a bad person.”
“huh?” Marinette bluescreened, not able to follow.
“Marinette you’re not a bad person and I have decided that I want you keep my miraculous, you would make a great hero.”
“I–I’m not I can’t–I can’t be a hero!” Marinette sputtered out unable to comprehend because there’s no way Tikki meant that, she’s not a hero. she’s an assassin, the daughter of the demon. Not a hero. She’s got blood on hands so much blood. She can’t be a hero. A hero doesn’t kill, doesn’t torture. A hero isn’t a walking weapon. A hero hasn’t spilt so much blood that red now permanently stained her hands, a hero isn’t ... her . She’s the type of person a hero fights against, a villain.
Seeing the clear distress on her chosen’s Tikki flew down to Marinette and lay her hand-paw on Marinette’s cheek smiling softly when panic filled eyes met her calm encouraging ones.
It was quiet in the room with Marinette processing Tikki’s request and the kwami smiling kindly at the girl.
Marinette found her voice after a few moments.
“You really want me keep the earrings even after you know what I’ve done?” she whispered in disbelief, still unable to comprehend the turn of events.
“I meant what I said Marinette, I want you to be my holder.”
“Why? Why do you want me to be your holder, I’m a MONSTER!” Marinette vision turned blurry with held back tears.

“Marinette you could’ve taken the ladybug miraculous and ran or you could’ve easily stolen the black cat miraculous from Chat noir considering all your training, you could have even gone to your grandfather and given him your miraculous. But you didn’t do any of that instead you went out there today and saved people, saved Paris. Your past doesn’t define you Marinette, the choices you make in the present do and I’d say you were a hero.” Tikki fiercely defended "I choose you Marinette. I choose you to be my holder for a reason."
“I can't– I–”
It was all too much for Marinette.
She couldn’t hold it back anymore, all her trauma and emotions that she carefully stuffed in a box finally burst.
She broke down.
She starting laughing hysterically “My grandfather spent half his life searching for the miraculous and I found it five years after leaving the League without even having to try and now I’m somehow a Hero.” Marinette’s voice cracked and her cackles soon turned into sobs.
Tikki’s heart broke watching her chosen sink to the floor sobbing. She went and nuzzled her cheek comforting her as much as she could. ‘I really should take Plagg with me sometime and blow that little assassin base of his to the ground’ Tikki internally raged.

It had been nearly a year since Marinette received the ladybug miraculous and took up the role of Dame rouge or (Lady red).
And as of last week, Marinette was now also the Guardian of the miracle box.
Due to the change in Guardianship the magical Barriers –that Fu put up– protecting the miraculous from outside interference were taken down.
She was able to get the Barriers back up, but it was already too late. While the general public were still unaware of the situation in Paris. The league of assassins now was.
Marinette knew it was only a matter of time before assassins start popping up left and right. She was hard at work learning magic and casting spells. She found a spell which allows only the Guardian to remove a miraculous from it’s wielder. That should help, while Chat noir has gotten better at fighting he is no where near as ready to face off against the league of assassins even with the enhanced abilities, it should keep the league from getting his miraculous much harder.
Marinette was patrolling the city with Chat noir when she felt that something was off. And lo and behold a knife was hurling through the air, straight for Chat noir’s neck.
Marinette wasn’t fazed, she caught the knife between two fingers. The same couldn’t be said for Chat noir, he stumbled and nearly fell off the roof in shock.
Marinette relaxed once she saw the knife.
“And you always said I was dramatic” Marinette drawled towards a shadow in the corner, twirling the knife.
“Tt.” Was replied as a person practically melted out of the shadows. (Chat noir did fall off the roof at that but gathered his bearings fairly quick.)
The person was masked and dressed similarly to Dame rouge but green accents instead of red and sounded male. He also had plenty weapons strapped on his person and did not look to be wearing a miraculous despite the clear physical activity it would take to reach the secluded rooftop they were on.
“So, Paris” the masked stranger raised an eyebrow and asked a little judgingly.
“It’s not that bad and last I heard you relocated too” Marinette replied looking expectantly at him.
“I was sent to live with father until the issues were resolved but I’m considering staying there. It’s not what one would call peaceful but it certainly beats the desert.”
“Please anything beats the desert.” Marinette scoffed.
The hooded figure shrugged “It’s not...as bad as I thought. There are a few rules in place but I otherwise still get to stab people and my katana is well used in that cesspool of crime and corruption.”
Marinette’s eyes widened; she could read in between the lines, she already had an inkling of who her father is with Talia’s vague descriptions and Sabine’s hesitance about the topic, Damian’s clues only confirmed her suspicions, there could only be one person who could be their father.
“He is your father.... Well that certainly explains the brooding and emotional constipation. How much grovelling did you have to do after the attempts on their life for them to let you on the field?”
The hooded figure crossed his arms and glared “I did not grovel!”
Marinette raised an eyebrow.
The figure looked away after a few seconds and scoffed “you never did explain why you’re staying in Paris of all places.”
Marinette smirked at that “I’m staying here with Xiao Bing.”
“isn’t she dead?” the person looked up in shock.
“No, apparently they just stopped the hits on her after the ninth failed attempt.”
“I feel like I should be worried.”
“Don’t be, she doesn’t know that I gallivant around the city as a magical girl catching evil butterflies.” Marinette waved him off.
“Ah yes about that. How did you become a miraculous wielder?” The figure questioned.
“I helped an old man cross the road. I’m also the Guardian now”
“...your the holder of the Ladybug miraculous and the Guardian of the miracle box because you helped some old man cross the road?.” Was asked incredulously.
“Yup”
He was quiet for a few seconds, then he snorted “Grandfather would blow a fuse if he ever found out that you are possession of the miraculous. He has been trying to get a hold of it for over 600 years and you just stumbled upon them five years after leaving the League.”
“Honestly, I want to tell him just so I could see his face. The disgrace in possession of his life long dream has to knock him down a peg....or a tower.”
“Speaking of, grandfather is probably aware of the situation in Paris now, are you in need of assistance with that complication or the moth problem?”
“Don’t worry I’ve been preparing for that and the moth should be dealt with before Saturday.”
“WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?!” Chat noir interrupted finally having had enough of his confusion and shock, looking wildly between the two of them.
“Ah yes, I forgot. Akhi this is Chat noir.” Lady red introduced.
He just grunted.
“Chat noir this is... What do you want to be called?”
“...Shadow.”
“Well Chat noir this is Shadow.”
“That doesn’t answer any of my questions!” Chat noir was still confused and panicking.
“Are you sure you need to keep the–” Shadow started to speak.
“Don’t be rude shadow.” Lady red chastised.
Shadow just rolled his eyes.
“Chat noir I’ll explain this when Shadow leaves.” Marinette glanced at Shadow while talking to Chat noir.
“You can deal with this mess now. I have to leave anyway; the others will be able to track me in an hour and I don’t want them knowing I’m in Paris."
Ah so the Justice league are still unaware of the situation here, probably Damian’s work.
Marinette went and hugged her brother
“لقد اشتقت لك كثيرا”(I missed you so much.)
“كما فعلت أنا ”  (As did I.)
Was whispered to each other as the siblings hugged tightly. Marinette not noticing the note that was slipped into her pocket in her happiness and grief.
And if their eyes were a little glassy no one needed to know.
Shadow pulled away first.
And jumped off the roof with a smirk and the parting words of “I’m still taller.”
It took a moment for Marinette to register his words but once she did, she started cursing after him in all the languages she could remember in her rage.
He’s a dead man walking. Brother be damned.

Marinette landed in her room and detransformed.
Tikki flew off to get a cookie.
Marinette was lost in thought absently watching as the kwamis played around her room and fought for the computer.
They all stopped what they were doing and flew towards Marinette once they noticed she arrived from patrol.
“Um Marinette?” Tikki drew Marinette from her daze.
“Yes Tikki?”
“I found this in one of your pockets in the suit.” Tikki handed Marinette an envelope.
It was dark green and tied with golden thread.
Marinette opened the envelope and started reading the letter.

I do not blame you for leaving the League. At first, I was angry and hurt that you left me but I understand.
Mother and grandfather hated you and were sending you on increasingly difficult missions hoping you wouldn’t return; I noticed the extra scars and wounds you were trying to hide from me.
I am also now no longer in association with the league. I was taken to Father when Slade staged a coup and almost killed grandfather. I was to be living with father until mother took care of the traitors. But I decided stay in Gotham. I no longer want the title of demon head. I much prefer being a vigilante to an assassin.
Living with father is certainly different from the league and it took a while to get used to, especially with father’s ‘no killing’ rule.  Richard is by far the most tolerable of the strays that father insists on keeping. And I suppose Todd and Drake have proved their worth.
I also own pets now Alfred the cat, Titnus, Batcow and Goliath (the dragon bat). You would love them.
And before you panic, No. Father does not know of your existence.
I only found out about your whereabouts because I was actively searching for you and only found results when I’m assuming the magical barrier fell. The glamor failed to hide your identity as I recognized your fighting style but I suppose it is only because we are twins and grew up together. No amount of magic is going to help you hide the fact that you gallivant around Paris catching butterflies with a yoyo from me.
I was able to cover all traces of the miraculous when the barrier fell so the justice league is still unaware of the situation in Paris as well.
Unfortunately, the league of assassins are now aware that the miraculous are active and in Paris.
+1 XXXXX XXXXX
I have included my contact information in case you are in need of assistance.

I do not intend to lose you again.

                                                                                                    – Damian al ghul Wayne

Staring at the letter the day’s events finally hit her
She met her brother. She found him again. He’s not dead.
Tears were streaming down Marinette’s face as she clutched the letter in hands.
The kwamis were staring at her in concern, Tikki herded them into the miracle box before they could bombard the Guardian with questions.
“Marinette?” Tikki hesitantly questioned when she was still staring blankly at the letter.
Startled Marinette snapped out of daze looking around her room.
She wiped the tears with her hand and shakily picked up her phone.
After a moments hesitation she input the number and texted her brother.
Marinette: You're not loosing me again, I’m here to stay.
Smiling when she got a response.
Damian: of course you are, I’m not stupid enough to let you go again.

Marinette & Jagged
There are soooo many fics where Marinette is Jagged's "honorary niece" or where her career is propelled by his endorsements.
I'd love to see a fic that does this, but then we get the reveal that Juleka is Jagged's daughter, maybe Marinette even is the one who discovers it while in his home office working on a commission? And then she has to deal with the fallout.
This is her friend who was abandoned by her father! But this is also a man she only knows as kind who helped her on her path to achieving her dreams.

Jodido Mariposin
Hola Shuumatsu no Valkirye
Damian : Si habrias tenido ordenado tus prioridades, nada hubiera pasado
