#me after coming 2nd at the mario kart tournament

Video
So, indulge me just a little bit with this one, because there’s a lot to unpack here...
Going into Yoshi Valley, which would be race six of eight in the finals, I had a 3pt lead on the scoreboard. This is nice because I can’t lose the lead in a single race, no matter how badly I do (the worst that could happen is someone could tie me). I’m Toad (4P), and as the third lap starts, I’m trying to reel in Josh (Peach), while Emily (Yoshi) has set her sights on me.
After a bunch of shells and defensive blockers come into play, (beautiful block by Josh with the fake item box, btw) I now find myself in 3rd place, with the leaders having enough of a lead on me to prevent the line-of-sight red shells of Mario Kart 64 from working. With 4th place a distant memory, I approach the hairpin turn knowing that a 3rd place is looking likely for me.
But, as many MK64 players know, there is a shortcut you can take by jumping off the track and landing on another part. The tournament rules at this venue generally ban all shortcuts, but allow this one (and Koopa Troopa Beach, obviously) as it is also allowed by the official Time Trials leaderboards. Other racers often go for it, but I usually play fairly conservatively and shy away from risky play. This time, as I already felt 3rd was a guarantee for me, I felt I had little to lose and everything to gain, so I went for it. Luckily, I hit it, and stole the race!
It ended up being very important in the standings, as well. I extended my lead to 4pts, and since Emily ended up finishing in 2nd place, she would have taken 1st had I not gone for the shortcut and taken the 3rd place I was in. This would have meant she would have gained 2pts on me in the standings, and I would have had only a 1pt lead with two races to go. I was weighing all of this, and it’s why I felt going for the jump was low risk and high reward (for once!).
So, there ya go. Here’s a highlight from my latest Mario Kart 64 tournament

Quick Tourney Report
Welp, the first Mario Kart 64 tourney of 2022 is over and done, and I scraped my way to a second place finish after doing really well in pools. It was a really weird night because I can’t say I had awful luck, it was just pretty consistently useless items. Like single red shells while in 3rd at an absurdly high rate. And I only got two lightnings in 17 races, which is pretty odd and far from helpful, especially given how we were all trading places pretty regularly. So, bad luck with items didn’t help me, and I didn’t really have many situations where I got breaks of any kind, whether good or bad. But at least I only got dumpstered twice, which is always a good thing.
Tim made some really key plays, the best of which were all amazing item steals with ghosts at the perfect time. He was really on point with those all night. And it was nice to see Emily have a cheering squad, as a middle school girl also entered today and decided she had to stick around after she was eliminated. I hope she makes it back because her parents seemed supportive of her wanting to come to another tournament.
Emily and I tied, so we had to go to an extra race tiebreaker to decide 2nd/3rd, which I won by tossing her off Dead Man’s Curve on Choco Mountain. It was also the first time in three and a half years that we went into the final race with me completely out of contention to win! I guess I have some work cut out for me. I seem to do better when I can get out in front early, which I was not able to pull off very often today.

Mario Kart with the Dekusquad
Word Count: 923
Warnings: None.
Headcanon: How good is the Dekusquad at playing Mario Kart, and who do they play as?
Characters: Midoriya, Todoroki, Iida, Uraraka, Asui.
Author’s Note: Everyone likes Mario Kart, a nice competitive game that you can play with friends, competing for the gold trophy (#notsponsored), so why not write about how the Dekusquad plays?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya:
Plays Luigi, or if he’s taken, Baby Luigi or Yoshi.
Not because of the green aesthetic, just because they have pretty solid stats.
The squad doesn’t leave him on character select too long, or he’ll go through every character and calculate the best possible character with the best possible cart.
He’s surprisingly bad at Mario Kart for someone who knows all the shortcuts, best places to boost, and tricks of the game.
It’s because of his horrible luck with items.
Even in last place, when you’re supposed to get good power-ups like stars and Bullet Bills, he gets a single banana or green shell.
So even when he uses all his Mario Kart knowledge, he still can’t get ahead because somehow Uraraka got a star power up and won the whole game.
Midoriya is in dead last, crossing his fingers as he approaches the item box. Everyone hears the jingle tune of the item box deciding Midoriyas fate, and everyone starts to chant for Midoriya to get a great power-up, Bullet Bill.
“Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill!!!!”
Midoriya, along with everyone else, sees the green shell that has landed in his racers hands.
“OH COME ON-”
Todoroki chimes in to try and liven the mood.
“At least the color matches your racer.”
Tumblr media
Shoto Todoroki:
Plays Toad or Shy Guy, and it is because of the aesthetic.
He prefers to just sit back and watch people play, but sometimes people will ask to race him.
Almost always it’s because someone just lost a race, and needs to play Todoroki to destress. He’s really bad at Mario Kart (because he doesn’t play much), and almost never wins, and doesn’t rage quit when he loses, so people like playing with him to destress after a hard race they lost.
He does get frustrated when a green shell hits him, because like… it’s a green shell, you have to aim that thing.
Todoroki has his race cut-off before he can cross the finish line, landing him with an 8th place spot. Asui pumps her fists in victory, crossing the finish line in 2nd place.
“Thanks, kero-kero. Losing that race to Denki made me a little angry.”
“... so… how did you win?”
“I just finished the race faster than you, Todoroki.”
“... I see… good game, Tsu.”
Tumblr media
Tenya Iida:
Plays Lakitu or Rosalina (Rosalina mainly if he’s going for stats, not just for fun).
The squad tried just not letting him see the stats, it didn’t work. He spent 2 hours going through every cart combo and character select… he settled on Lakitu.
He’s pretty good at Mario Kart, if he wins he gets super pumped about it, but if he loses he questions every decision, ever.
Iida just gets really into Mario Kart, really, really into it.
Drifting along one of the final turns in Rainbow Road, Iida’s only barely in first, followed by Uraraka. Lucky for the brunette, she throws out her red shell, hitting Iida directly, causing him to fall off the course. Iida, knowing this will cost him the race and the tournament, loses his mind. In a moment of pure rage, he throws the controller behind him, luckily being caught by Todoroki.
Uraraka, having won the race, slowly pans over to Iida. “... good race?”
Iida tries his best to come up with an answer. “IT WAS A GREAT RACE. THANK YOU URARAKA- wait did I break that controller?”
Tumblr media
Ochako Uraraka:
Plays Daisy or King Boo (King Boo because of the floating animation).
She is an absolute luck charm at Mario Kart.
Every time she picks up an item box, it’s the best item she can possibly get.
She isn’t even that good at racing, she’s just good at getting good items, it’s incredible, Midoriya has added it as a possible quirk.
The only problem is she drives off the map so frequently that she keeps losing the items she gets-
She’s perfectly fine with losing, except for one time Todoroki beat her in a race somehow, and she didn’t talk to him for 3 days.
“Uraraka, I’m sorry for beating you in that race, but I need a pencil. Can you please lend me a pencil?”
“...”
“Please.”
“...”
“Uraraka.”
“...”
“... Midoriya-”
Tumblr media
Tsuyu Asui:
Plays Yoshi if it isn’t taken by Midoriya, Koopa Troopa, or Metal Mario.
She’s probably the best overall player, she’s got a good skill range, knows some shortcuts, plays with good stats, stays on track, and is a good sport no matter if she wins or loses.
She always gets the job of comforting the loser and supporting racers in the moment.
She also takes frequent breaks to get snacks, blankets, and pillows so the game night can really start.
The real champion of game night, honestly.
“Kero kero, good race guys, I’ll be right back.”
*five minutes later*
Midoriya pans over, who took a break from racing, and sees Asui with at least 10 blankets and 10 pillows.
He speaks up, “A-Asui! Here, let me help you carry those. Why did you bring so many?”
“Because I need them to destroy you at the Bowsers Castle race, kero. Thanks for the help carrying these!”
“... of course, Asui-”

Chapter 1: Baby Park
Part 1/2
“HYEJU COME GET YOUR FUCKING SOCKS OFF THE FLOOR BEFORE I THROW THEM AWAY, YEOJIN GET OFF THE FRIDGE FOR GODS SAKE, YERIM STOP CHASING HEEJIN WITH YOUR ROACHES!” Junguen screams at the top of her lungs as she sees her chaotic bandmates up to their usual antics.
As the chaos around her continues, Junguen takes a seat on the couch and puts her hands up to her head and sighs deeply.
“Hey baby, what's wrong” Jinsol, Junguen’s girlfriend of three years, asks as she exits the bathroom drying her newly dyed black hair.
“This” Junguen gestures violently at the ongoing anarchy of the dorm.
“Ahh it’s okay I got this, go rest up before practice.” Jinsol says as she motions her overstressed girlfriend towards a room in which four bunk beds are aligned neatly.
“Are you sure? Last time I trusted you alone with them they had you tied down to a chair, forcing you to watch Twilight” Junguen recalls the day she walked into the dorm after a quick convenience store trip to fetch some eggs after Yeojin and Yerim had used them all up to egg Haseul’s tinder date’s car as he waited for Haseul to come down. Fortunately for them, as they like to say, saved Haseul from heterosexual activity.
“I’ll have you know they let me choose between Twilight or Tall Girl, I think I made a bold choice. Now if you can, get some shut-eye, I can get everything under control.” Jinsol reassures her, sending her girlfriend into the clean bedroom (thanks to Vivi who cleaned before going to her part-time job) with a kiss on the top of her head and wooshed her away.
After the door shut behind Jungeun, Jinsol turned to look at the girls with her hands on her hips and a towel wrapped around her damp hair. She dusted off her lemon print shorts and cleared her throat.
“Okay feral chihuahuas, I want you to listen and listen closely” Jinsol furrowed her eyebrows and straightened her back in an attempt to look authoritative. The younger girls stopped at their pace and took a puzzled look at Jinsol’s bad attempt of control, but listened anyway.
“We’re feral chihuahuas? Then you’re a soggy, dusty, old Great Dane!” Yeojin yells out right away.
Jinsol ignores Yeojin’s comments and begins connecting Hyeju’s switch to the living room T.V.
“So who’s up for a Mario Kart tournament?” Jinsol asks with a smile as she holds up two Joy-Cons.
The younger girls all scream in excitement and run to grab their respective controllers.Yeojin plops herself in the middle of the floor as Hyeju and Chaewon, who’s wearing one of Hyeju’s black hoodies, settle next to each other.  Jinsol smiles to herself as the younger girls begin setting up the game and chat animatedly, save for Heejin who pulls out her iPad and begins working on a new drawing. The girls all rush to pick their characters, Yeojin immediately exclaiming that she wants to be Waluigi. Hyeju laughs at the smaller girl as she picks Bowser, Chaewon having already selected Princess Peach. Yerim then has an extensional crisis attempting to choose the color of her Yoshi, eventually settling on the pink variant.
“LET’S DO BABY PARK!” Yeojin screams out when they begin selecting maps.
Hyeju ignores Yeojin’s shouts for Baby Park and selects Special Cup.
“HEY! THAT’S NOT FAIR! YOU KNOW I’M NOT GOOD AT RAINBOW ROAD.” Yeojin begins to protest until the game finishes loading and the first race of the cup begins, immediately grabbing her controller and focusing on the screen.
 Jinsol continues to smile as she watches the girls play while they giggle and shout. She gets up from her seat on the couch and walks over to check on her tired girlfriend. Jinsol’s heart warms at the sight of Jungeun passed out on Jinsol’s bed with her face stuffed in the pillow, still leaving space for her. Jinsol gently shuts the door and returns to the living room to see the girls finishing off their first race.
~~~~
The first three races all end similarly, Hyeju placing first, Yeojin falling off the map attempting to drift and ending up around 5th place, Chaewon around 2nd or 3rd, and Yerim in 7th while still smiling and giggling. Everyone was finally settling down and enjoying their time together, that is until the end of the final race of the cup, Rainbow Road.
Just as Yeojin is finally about to place second (first still taken by Hyeju) she’s hit by a red shell while taking a turn, knocking her off the map. She shrieks and yells at Lakitu to hurry up and put her back on the map. Just as she's placed back on the map, she’s passed by Chaewon who is able to finish right before her.
“ᵃˢˢᵃᵎ”
“CHEATER!” Yeojin exclaims at Chaewon who’s doing a victory dance.
“I didn’t cheat, you’re just bad at the game!”
“YOU’RE SUCH A LIAR, YOU SHELL THROWING ASS FACE!”
“Hey!” Hyeju shouted and stood up, hearing Yeojin insult Chaewon.
Chaewon then moved behind Hyeju as she and Yeojin stood in front of each other, hurling insults.
“Girls! Calm down! You’re gonna wake up-” Jinsol, who spoke up when she realized the two girls weren’t going to stop anytime soon, was interrupted by the door to their bedroom being slammed open, revealing an angry Jungeun.
"I thought you said you’d have it under control?!" Jungeun glares at Jinsol. Jungeun bothered at the fact her mid-day nap has been interrupted by cursing teenagers.
"I do! I mean, I did" Jinsol remarks afraid to look up to see her girlfriend fuming in frustration.
As Jungeun is about to completely lose her cool, as if she hasn't already, the answer to Jungeun’s worries enters the dorm.
"Hi! Guys! I'm home!" A girl with short black hair and a bright smile greets the girls.
"Haseul!" Yeojin drops the controller she previously held running into the older girl's arms as if she hasn't seen her in decades, Hyeju instinctively reaches for the controller cradling it as if it’s in pain from the impact.
"The rest are waiting in the practice room, we should get going" Haseul smiles down at Yeojin, pushing up her sunglasses and shrugging off her leather jacket.
"Last one there is a rotten egg!" Heejin exclaims.
With that Yeojin, Heejin, Yerim, and Chaewon Naruto run out of the dorm, Hyeju following slowly behind.
"Go on Sol, I'll be there in a sec" Jungeun gives a strained smile.
Jinsol smiles and then runs out the door to catch up with the other girls.
"Is there something you want to talk about?" Haseul asks with a concerned look as Jungeun slumps onto the couch. Haseul follows and sits beside her.
"I need a break." Jungeun sighs out.
"You want to leave the group?" Haseul questions.
"No, no, not like that. I just want to break the routines and live a little outside of this dorm" Jungeun admits.
"Hmm…What if you ask management for a few days off?" Haseul suggests.
Jungeun gives it a thought and nods.
~~~~
Before heading to the practice room, Jungeun takes a look at the office right next to it, where their manager spent her days working away.
"Hello?" Jugeun hesitantly knocks on the slightly parted door.
"Kim Lip! Come in!" Their manager smiles warmly looking up from her desktop computer.
The manager's office was as neat as an IKEA model, filled with fake plants, this lady can manage 12 girls but not remember to water some plants. The only living thing was a succulent sitting at her desk that was a gift from Yeojin for accidentally covering her new car in toilet paper thinking it was another one of Haseul's potential boyfriends.
Jungeun walked into the lavender scented room taking a seat in front of her manager, playing with the slightly frayed ends of her flannel. The older woman waited for Jungeun to speak.
"Umm... I was wondering, since we currently don't have an exact schedule, if we could possibly take a few days off and go on a trip?" thinking of spending time alone with Jinsol.
"Oooh like a vacation?" The woman chirps
"Yes. Exactly, I just thought since-"
"Oh that sounds like a wonderful idea, just pick a destination and I'll take care of the rest for all you girls" the manager gets up excited for the execution of the said vacation.
"‘All you girls’?" Jungeun questions.
"Oh I'm excited, let's spread the news and go tell them right now and we can get to picking!" the older woman says as she begins walking out of her office. Jungeun follows behind attempting to clear the confusion.
"France would be great or Australia" the manager continues as she stops in front of the practice room.
Jungeun anxiously opens the door, revealing her members practicing as if they are entering a national competition. The girls stop as they hear the familiar voice of their manager calling their attention.
"Girls! I have some exciting news! Thanks to Jungeun, it has been brought to my attention that you all need some time off or as I shall say some time away."
The girls looked at each other, some puzzled and some anticipating the news.
"You all will be going on a small vacation!" The manager smiles.
Jungeun looks around at her members’ reactions, seeing how happy they get makes her heart warm, especially the way Jinsol's smile reaches her eyes.
Maybe a vacation all together won't be so bad, Jungeun thought to herself.

Certain Victory (shigadabi, LOV bonding)
or: the League plays Mario Kart and someone almost dies. (~2000 words)
this is fun and ooc please dont take this too seriously tg3hq54j3awsedrftg written as part of a gift exchange, sorry i posted a few days late <3
(AO3)(masterlist)(ko-fi)
It was all Spinner’s fault. They were all just chilling in the bar like normal, as content as one could possibly be while planning on how exactly to cause mayhem and disrespect the law, when he just had to ruin the peace.
“So…….. Shigaraki. You’re a guy of good taste right? Like, you like video games? Do you, y’know…. have Mario Kart?” The group fell completely silent (actually it was still quite noisy, but the rushing noise in Tomura’s ears made that hard to notice) and tension filled the room (although at this moment the only one truly tense was Shigaraki himself, not that he managed to notice). This wasn’t just an innocent question, no; it was a Challenge, a provocation, a declaration of war. A war Tomura intended to win.
“Do you really want me to answer that question?” Spinner nodded in response, an ignorant grin lighting up his face as he failed to notice the fire igniting behind Tomura’s eyes, “Alright then, it’s fucking on.”
Of course he had to ask that.
Way to fucking go, Spinner.
And so, The Tournament was created.
So much had been put into this night, and Tomura knew it was going to be perfect; after all his planning, it had to be. If this battle was to be done, it had to be done right. After all, what was the point to utterly eviscerating the competition if he hadn’t an audience?
And the day had finally arrived.
The stage was set, Tomura meticulous in work. He had a wide variety of gaming systems, but extra controllers were needed; quickly he went to enlist Kurogiri in stealing some, the prospect of team bonding enough to get the misty man onboard with his plans while he shed a tear of pride. Tomura even went and cleaned a room so that they would have the perfect gaming arena in which to declare victor. Stolen beanbag chairs gathered around a large screen, couches and a small table where snacks would go in the background for the spectators, a pile of cheetos and doritos with bottles green tea and mountain dew to wash them down.
Perfect.
The time to fight was nigh, and Tomura was confident he would prove himself superior. After all, was the realm of games not his main domain? Yes, today he would indisputably prove his worth, and no one would dare question his authority.
While the sky was overcome by purples and deep blues, the sun finally leaving them from the night, Tomura let himself focus on the screen before him. It was his moment to shine, now, and nothing would get in his way. Even as the rest of the league filtered into the room, making their usual annoying and useless comments, Tomura let his heart and soul bond with the controller within his hands. Even while his colleagues gathered around him, picking up their own controllers and buzzing with excitement, Tomura felt nothing but a rush of calm. This might just be the most important trial of his life, but he would surpass it. He would fight.
He would win.
And so all players had entered the arena, gathered together and prepared for what was to come. It was finally time to fight. It was his time to shine, his...
“Tooomura, Tomuraaaa, can I pick the track thingy? Please, pretty please?”
Himiko grinned, looking over at her boss while the character selection page flashed onscreen. Shrugging, Tomura let himself focus again on the tv in front of him, “As long as we end on Rainbow Road I don’t really care.” And that was the end of his short and useless discussion, one not enough to distract him, but still startling him out of his trance.
Once everyone was ready, and Toga had her fill of flipping through the tracks as quickly as possible during her very professional and thoughtful selection process, Tomura let himself finally ease into things. He was gonna kick their n00b asses.
3… 2… 1… GO
Yeah, someone was probably going to die by the end of the night.
Two rounds had gone by in the blink of an eye, and Tomura was more confident than ever. Two rounds, and Tomura easily won them both. Already it was more than clear who reigned superior, so now all Tomura had to do was show one final time just who was in control. It was time for his final victory.
Half of the league had given up at this point, content to watch and joke around at the expense of those still playing rather than be involved themselves; some time within the first two rounds, Kurogiri and Mr. Compress had left to get more snacks, Twice was making a gripping commentary of all of the competitors moves, and magne had switched to being Toga’s personal cheer squad as part of their LOV Lady Solidarity Group. And so four were left to play.
In a few minutes time, there would only be One victor. Tomura would make sure he was the only one left with any pride. He would prove himself.
Everyone watched with bated breath as rainbow road filled the screen, their characters lighting up the dim room as the intro sequence quickly passed them by.  And then it was starting. The moment of truth.
All four players gave into the moment, bringing their focus on the screen as their characters started to move onscreen.
Toga was a laughing, maniacal mess as she leaned forward, uncaring as Bowser kept falling into oblivion; last place gave her what she truly wanted: a chance to blow up everyone in front of her, willingly giving up her chance at victory as a sacrifice for joy and general mayhem.
Spinner was intensely emotive, glaring at the screen as Luigi kept around 2nd to 3rd place and yelling out every time he fell behind. He wasn’t winning yet but he still had time to turn things around, Shigaraki wouldn’t know what had come for him.
Dabi, as infuriatingly attractive as ever, was lazily sprawled across the beanbag chair, seemingly uncaring of what was happening to Toad onscreen as he reached into a bag of chips despite actively playing.
Tomura, though, was unlike the others. There was quiet intensity behind his eyes, a hypnotic presence surrounding him as he put his soul into every press of his fingers, eyes glued to the screen as he sat, unmoving. The very air around him started to still, caught in the moment as he sped past everyone friend and foe alike, ready to finally have his success confirmed. It was the final lap now and not even the cheering, laughter, and incitive comments from the audience was enough to distract him.
Allowing a smug grin to stretch across his face as the finish line came into the distance, he continued to speed forward. This was it. His moment.
In one glorious second the heavens parted, leaving Tomura to bask in the smug certainty of triumph; finally he could prove himself superior, reaffirming his role as leader and supreme, as the one truly worthy of power, as not only the best gamer but the best person, as-
FUCK. No, no, fuck, it couldn’t be, it wasn’t possible,
“WHO the FUCK….Did you just fucking,,,,,, did you BLUE SHELL me?!?”
A silence fell over the room as Shy Guy fell into the oblivion below, the corner of Tomura’s screen blinking from 1st to 2nd, from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th. The moment Toad crossed the finish line, declaring him the Winner, a scream could be heard throughout the building, past the street, infecting the world as Tomura exploded in rage. Far off in the distance, several young heroes lifted their heads in confusion as they felt a disturbance in the force. Something terrible had just happened...
And Dabi was so fucking dead.
Like the little bitch he was, Dabi simply laughed at Tomura’s rage, grinning lazily as he waved his controller in front of Tomura’s reddening face and taking delight in the way Tomura’s glare washed over him. “What, you not manage to predict this, creep? And here I thought video games were your ‘thing’.” Tomura took a deep breath, collecting the hatred washing through him.
“Fuck. I’ve tried to be a good leader, but this….. this I can’t forgive.”
That was the only warning before a blur of black and pale blue sped over to Dabi’s laughing form, knocking him against the ground in a rush of righteous rage. It was a mess, many innocent beanbags lives’ being lost in the carnage. But Tomura couldn’t worry about that, his pride was on the line here. That little shit Dabi just thought he could go and steal his victory, and not only that, but he was so fucking rude about it! Dabi wasn’t even trying to win, he spent the whole time making shitty comments and throwing doritos at people (although in retrospect, he always was getting 2nd place wasn’t he?), and yet here he was taking what should have been Tomura’s.
And this wasn’t even something new! Dabi was always there, being an ass and making Tomura get all flustered and uncertain. But this, this was the fucking limit. There was a point where Tomura could take no more, ignore no further transgressions. Dabi stole his moment. It was only fair that Tomura steal something of Dabi’s in return. Something of equal value…. something like Dabi’s life.
The two rolled across the floor as Tomura reached towards Dabi’s exposed skin, hoping to finally have a solid touch; everyone else had stopped to watch the spectacle, unsure whether to step in. “Stop fighting back you piece of shit, I’m only trying to kill you!” Tomura growled, reaching for Dabi’s throat before being flipped, breath fleeing his lungs as he was caged between a crispy asshole and the unforgiving ground.
Lurching forward Tomura moved to headbutt him, hoping to loosen his grip so he could kill the raisin-looking fucker already. But despite his clearly outstanding strategy skills and tactical prowess, Tomura made a small miscalculation. When their foreheads met Tomura himself fell back, Dabi falling atop him as he groaned in pain and released his wrists. But that wasn’t the problem.
Dabi was directly on top of him, pressed against every inch of him, and, shit, this couldn’t be happening, did he just-
Opening his eyes, Tomura looked into the glowing blue hovering above him. The heat from Dabi’s breath ghosted over Tomura’s lips, reminding him of how the roughness of Dabi’s own felt against his. Dabi slowly pushed himself away with a smirk, taking in how Tomura was blushing, frozen beneath him.
“Wow, creep, if you wanted to kiss me you shoulda just said something. Who knew you were so bold.” His voice was as deadpan as his usual disinterested gaze despite the faint blush spreading across his cheeks, but for a moment a touch of emotion leaked through. Probably just cruel amusement, trying to make fun of Tomura as usual. What else could it possibly be?
“You….. I didn’t… what,” Tomura blinked rapidly, trying to process the turn of events.
Giggling, Toga and Magne shared a grin. “Should we leave? They seem to be having a moment.” Glancing around, everyone seemed to understand eachother, a visceral need to escape rising in their hearts. The rest of the League quickly fled the room, but the two boys on the floor hardly noticed, too distracted by the sudden magnetism of the moment.
Dabi smirked from above, raising an eyebrow to distract from the blush spreading across his own cheeks and down his chest.
“So. You gonna keep staring, or are you gonna kiss me again?”
“Was that a challenge, you crispy shit?”
Glaring up at him with a sharp light in his eyes, Tomura yanked Dabi downwards, messily smashing the mouths together in a flurry of lips and teeth. After a few moments Dabi grinned against him, pulling away to teasingly leave fluttering kisses along his jaw before Tomura yanked his hair to bring their mouths together once more. It was nice, despite everything, and Tomura felt himself melt into Dabi’s touch. This was clearly just another challenge, a new level where he could show Dabi who was boss, but still...
Maybe Tomura did win something after all.
epilogue:
Spinner let a single tear slip down his face, staring forlornly at the abandoned gaming system. He didn’t even get to finish playing…
Letting his hand softly caress the screen, he walked away with neon light haloing his silhouette. Tomura’s tantrum may have ruined it this time, but there was still hope. He wouldn’t let this be the end.
“I’ll come back soon, Mario Kart… we’ll play again, I promise.”
The darkness of the room didn’t respond.

"What if whoever gave us our Miraculous takes them back before we get the chance to tell each other?"
"We'll find a way."
Chat Noir knew he shouldn't push the subject. Ladybug had the right idea with keeping their identities a secret from one another. There were too many risk, too much danger at the moment. But he could not stop himself from wanting to know.
"How about this? We each write a letter," Chat said.
"A letter?"
"Yeah, we each write a letter with our name and a little bit of info on ourselves. We'll give each other the letter and keep it hidden away until the day we defeat Hawkmoth. This way if we lose our Miraculous before we can tell each other, we will still have a way of knowing."
Chat Noir was honestly rather proud of his idea. It was a simple one but one that could work.
"Okay, but how will I know you won't read the letter as soon as I give it to you? There's a saying about cats and curiosity you know," she teased.
Chat had planned for this.
"We each seal the envelope in a way that's hard to recreate, you know like wax seals or a doodle along the seal so that if we tried to reseal or get a new envelope it would be obvious. Then every few months we can bring the letter with us to show we haven't broken the seal."
The smile on Ladybug's face gave him even more confidence that his plan was a good one.
"You've really thought this out. Okay, next time we meet up we'll bring a letter."
It took all he had not to jump up in joy.
"But what should we write in them?" asked Ladybug.
"How about our name, our birthday, maybe some basic info like favorite color, and an email or phone number that won't change so we can contact each other?" suggested Chat.
"I think this is a good idea."
The next time they had a chance to meet up without an Akuma attacking the city was a little less than a week later on the 22nd of February.
Chat Noir could barely contain his excitement. His lady trusted him enough to give him a letter that would have her name. He wouldn't have to worry about never finding out who she was because now he had her name in a cute pink envelope.
"When should we bring our letters to check the seal?" asked Ladybug.
"How about the first of every other month? We can start with April 1st."
"I'm fine with that, but maybe we should do it on April 2nd. I have a feeling that there's going to be an Akuma that day."
"Good point. So, April 2nd?"
"April 2nd," she confirmed.
As soon as Adrien was home in his room, he stashed the letter away in his bottom desk drawer. He made a quick note to see if he could have a lock added to that drawer. Extra security was always welcome in keeping a secret.
"You know you're going to be tempted to read that letter Adrien," said Plagg.
"I know. But I won't. This is Ladybug's trust in me and I won't betray that."
Everyone could tell that Adrien was happier than usual.
Adrien's classmates didn't know what was going on, but there was no denying that something good must have happened to him the day before. He smiled through a physics test, didn't mind taking on one of Kim's dares, and didn't even seem too bothered with Chloe's usual clinginess.
Nothing could ruin his mood.
Not even Marinette tripping on the steps and knocking him over as they made their way out of the school.
"Oh Adrien! I'm so sorry. I was reading this flier and I should have been looking at where I was going."
Adrien tried to hush her as he helped her to her feet.
"Marinette, I'm fine. Don't worry."
She continued to ramble on and about how sorry she was but Adrien was more interested in the flier she held.
"There's going to be another Ultimate Mecha Strike Tournament III?"
"What? Oh this," she pointed at the paper, "yeah Max was telling me about it. He can't make it that day and was asking if I wanted to join the tournament. I'm not sure if I'm gonna do it or not since I'm already kinda busy with some other stuff and it's another partner event so I can't go if I don't have a partner and I'm rambling now aren't I…"
"A little," he did his best not to laugh at her flustered expression, "You know, I don't mind being your partner. It's fun playing with you."
"Really?"
"Yeah, what day is it? I'll need to make sure my schedule is cleared."
"It's April 3rd, it's a Monday so the tournament is in the afternoon."
"Who schedules a tournament on a Monday? No wonder Max can't make it."
Adrien took a quick look at the calendar on his phone. His father usually scheduled big events he absolutely could not miss 3 months in advance, so see that the day had no scheduled event meant he was free for the tournament.
"Looks like I'm good, I'll just have Nathalie save the day so I don't get a last-minute photo shoot scheduled."
"Great."
Adrien looked back to his phone to check the next day he was free.
"I'm a bit busy the rest of this week and up until Monday so can we meet up next Tuesday?"
Marinette nodded quickly as she said, "Sure, that sounds great."
Out of the corner of his eye, Adrien could see the Gorilla pulling up in front of the school to take him home.
"Ah, gotta go. See you."
"S-see you."
As he entered the car, Adrien could see Marinette jumping for joy with the flier held close to his chest.
He was glad he could make his friend happy.
For the most part, Adrien had an amazing time with Marinette.
For the next four week, he either went to her house or she went to his two times a week so they could practice for the tournament.
They didn't really need to practice. Their gaming was in sync and all their practice battles had been won with ease. Even if they played against other teams online, the two of them had no trouble winning.
They just both really liked playing together.
It didn't take them long to start playing other games after a few rounds of Ultimate Mecha Strike III.
By the fifth week, practicing for the tournament had just become an excuse for Adrien and Marinette to hang out. They weren't even playing it anymore and instead decided that other games would be better at testing who is the best.
"Seriously? Blue shell?"
"You're the one that suggested Mario Kart so I'm not going easy on you."
"What if I gave you tickets to the next fashion show my father hosts?"
"As tempting as that is, my pride would be hurt too much if I were to give into a bribe."
"Fine, I give up."
Adrien pushed his chair away from Marinette and looked over at her desk. He noticed what appeared to be a work in progress Chat Noir plush doll.
"What's this?" he asked while pointing at the half-finished doll. "I thought you already made a Chat Noir doll?"
Marinette looked around as if she was making sure no one else was in the room.
"Can I tell you a secret?"
"Sure."
"He sometimes visits me."
Adrien pretended to be surprised by what he already knew, "Chat Noir visits you?"
"I don't think he goes out of his way to visit me, but every time I'm out on my balcony when he passes by, he always stops to at least say hello. I know he probably stops by whenever he sees someone but he cheers me up sometimes after a bad day. I'm making him that doll as a thank you gift."
"That's very sweet. I don't think anyone has given Chat Noir anything, unless you count the statue to him and Ladybug."
Marinette stood up and walked over to where Adrien was. She moved some of the pieces out of the way before picking up a pink spotted box. She opened it with a key a took out a green heart.
"I even made a heart for the doll. I keep it in this my box so I don't lose it."
"That's so cool Marinette."
But Adrien's attention was not on the heart she showed him, but letter that was kept under the heart. A green envelope with a black cat paw drawn over the flap of the envelope.
His letter to Ladybug.
Just then his phone rang, telling him that it was time to head home.
As soon as he reached his room, Adrien grabbed the nearest pillow and screamed into it.
"What's wrong kid?" asked Plagg as he popped out of Adrien's discarded school bag.
"I messed up," he replied. "Do you remember the letters me and Ladybug exchanged?"
"Did you open the letter like I said you would?"
"No, I saw the letter I wrote to Ladybug in Marinette's room."
"Maybe she is taking care of the letter for Ladybug," said Plagg but there was no confidence in his voice.
"Come on Plagg, you know Ladybug would never risk someone else holding on to that letter."
Adrien sighed and let himself drop face first onto his bed. Plagg floated over.
"You're going to suffocate yourself like that, then there will be no one to give me camembert and I'll starve."
Not getting a response from Adrien, Plagg decided to poke him until he groaned and lifted himself off the bed and sat normally.
"I don't know what I'm going to do Plagg. We said we wouldn't tell each other just yet and here I am knowing who she is. I don't even know how I'm going to react when I see her again."
"Well look on the bright side, tomorrow is April Fool's day and there will probably be an Akuma that will take up anytime you could have used to talk to her. You will have one more day to think things over."
"Yeah," mumbled Adrien. "One more day to figure out how to tell her."
Surprisingly, there was no Akuma on April Fool's day. Even though it was a day dedicated to causing mischief, Ladybug and Chat Noir were not needed to stop an angry citizen.
It was good for the two of them, that meant another day they could relax and not get thrown half way across Paris.
But it was bad for Chat Noir because this meant he did not have one more day to think things over like Plagg had said. At least he wouldn't have to show his letter until the next day.
They both met up at the Eiffel Tower after making their rounds across the city.
As soon as he landed besides her he said, "My Lady, what would you say if I told you I knew who you were, but I haven't opened the envelope?"
She stayed quiet for a moment before a genuine laugh filled the air around them.
"I'd say this is your worst April Fool's prank yet."
"But you've only know me for one April Fool's before this one."
"Exactly."
"Meowch, I didn't even prank you last year."
"If you had, I'm sure it would have been just as bad as your puns."
"Oh, come on," he says while nudging her with his elbow, "you know you like my puns."
"Only sometimes Chat, only sometimes."
"I'm fine with that."
They stood there quiet, simply enjoying the night and each other's company. But they couldn't stay like that for long. It was getting late.
"See you tomorrow."
"Yeah, see you…" he trails off.
Chat Noir watched her leave before sitting down to have a moment to think in peace.
As soon as she left, his guilt and nerves returned. It was easy to forget his troubles when they just talked. Her jokes and smiles made him forget. But Ladybug's absence brought it all back.
He had to tell her tomorrow.
He'd tell her as he shows her the letter, still perfectly sealed, that he knew who she was.
But when they met up the next day, he couldn't do it.
Chat Noir knew his Lady would not be mad at him for finding out. She was an understanding person and would most likely find a way to blame herself over him seeing his letter in her room.
He wasn't scared of her being angry at all.
He feared his Lady being disappointed in who he was.
He didn't have a real reason as to why he felt she would be disappointed in him. It was more of an irrational fear that came with caring so much about someone. The last thing he wanted was to have her not like who he was without his mask on.
And for Ladybug to know how he found out, he'd have to tell her he is Adrien Agreste.
The letter was kept in her room, a place she only invited a few friends to and Chat Noir had no reason to be in Marinette's room.
Sure, he had visited her a few times while he made his way around the city on patrol. But only when she was outside on her balcony. He might stop to talk for a bit when he saw her. She even gave him some of her hot chocolate when it was a cold night. But he had never been invited into her room.
If he didn't tell her the truth, she could easily assume that he had broken into her room and looked through her private possessions.
He couldn't tell her.
Not yet.
The next day was the Ultimate Mecha Strike III tournament and the two beat it with ease.
But if you were to ask Adrien what happened during the tournament, he wouldn't have been able to tell you a thing.
Adrien had been incredibly nervous. Not because of the tournament, but because he was spending time with Marinette. He was so worried over the chance that something he would do or say around Marinette would give him away the tournament, besides that fact that they had won, was a complete blur to him.
All Adrien wanted to do was go home and sort out his feelings, to figure out a way to tell Ladybug the truth. But he could not drop out of the tournament. He could not let Marinette down.
As soon they were done and had accepted their congratulations on winning the tournament, Adrien readied himself to tell Marinette he needed to head home.
He didn't expect to be invited to dinner.
"Dinner at your place?"
"Yeah, you don't have to come if you don't want to but my parents wanted to thank you for partnering with me. I think they also have some idea in their head that they don't feed you at your place."
He really couldn't say no to her.
"Sure, let me just call Nathalie."
Dinner with the Dupain-Cheng family was so lively that Adrien nearly forgot the secret he held. It wasn't until Marinette walked him to the door on his way out that he remembered what was making him so anxious. The silence in the car didn't help and as soon as he made it home, be ran straight for his room and locked the door.
"You okay kid? You've been so tense since you saw your letter in the girl's room."
It was nice to see Plagg concerned for him, to know someone cared, but he still felt off. There was no point in lying to Plagg.
"No, I'm not okay. I need to think."
"Want a run around the city to clear your head?"
"No asking for camembert?"
"I'm feeling generous today. Don't get used to it kid."
Adrien could tell what Plagg meant. Despite his attitude, Plagg really did care about him.
"Okay then. Plagg, Claws out."
Running around the city might not have been the best idea. It didn't take very long for Chat Noir to end up running by the Dupain-Cheng's bakery and seeing Marinette on her balcony.
Chat Noir saw two options and he didn't like either of them.
He could turn back before she sees him and pretend he didn't see her. This meant he was running away from talk about the letter again, not something he wanted to do because he needed to talk to her.
Or, he could hop over to her balcony and tell her.
Neither were good options.
He landed behind her.
"You seem really happy today."
At the sound of his voice, Marinette jumps and sprays him in the face with the water she had been using to water her plants.
"Chat! Don't sneak up on me like that. I didn't hear you at all."
"I'm going to ignore the water to the face and just take it as a complement. You know people say I'm just dripping with good looks."
"Who let you watch anime again?"
"I see you took my advice and watched Ouran."
"Yup," was her only answer before she bounces back to spraying water on her plants.
Her joy could be seen from miles away.
"So, what's got you so happy today? I haven't been around here much so what could pawssibly have made you so happy."
"I was in a gaming tournament today and won first place with my friend."
"Congratulations Princess, I'm so happy for you."
"It was a lot of fun. Even better is it gave me time to hang out with Adrien."
"Who's Adrien? A boy you like?" he teased.
"Yeah"
He froze.
"I've had a crush on him for a while but I've been too shy to really even talk to him outside of school. I feel like playing video games with him really helped us get closer."
He needed to tell her.
"Marinette? What if I told you…"
He hesitates, trying to build up the courage to tell her. But when he looks at her, the way the moonlight hits her face takes his breathe away, leaving him speechless.
"What if you told me what Chat?"
"N-nothing."
Chat's mind was racing. No matter how many times he told himself to say it, to tell her he knows, the words refused to leave his mouth.
"Chat, are you okay?"
The worry and concern in her voice could have melted him then and there.
All he could think was that she was too good for him.
Too kind, too caring, too thoughtful, too beautiful, too brave, too amazing for someone like him.
As he was lost in thought, Marinette moved closer. She studied his face for any sign of what was going on in his head.
"Chat? You're starting to worry me."
Pulled from his thoughts, Chat Noir responds, "I'm fine, it's nothing, just a lot on my mind lately."
"You can tell me anything, I can keep a secret and it's not like if anyone will believe me if I tell them you peed yourself in public or something."
Her joke managed to get a small laugh out of him, "I know. I just don't know how to say things sometimes."
"I'm here if you need anything. It's the least I could do for you considering all you've done for me."
"Oh, and what have I done for you?"
"You mean besides saving me, my friends, and all of Paris from Hawkmoth?"
"But that's something I do for everyone, I'm a superhero after all. What have I done for you?"
Marinette pauses before pointed at him then herself, "This, you stopping to visit every now and then is something you've done for me. Superheroes protect the city but they don't have to make friends with the people they've saved."
In that moment, all he could think about was how much he did not deserve to even know someone as kind as Marinette.
He just needed to let it out.
Now.
"Marinette, what if I told you I didn't visit every person that I see when I'm out? That you're the only person I stop for? That I'm in love with you?"
She froze. A strained laugh left her lips.
"Very funny Chat, don't you know that April Fools was two days ago."
"I'm not joking."
"Are you just saying this because I said that I liked someone else."
Chat Noir hadn't expected things to go smoothly but he didn't like how it was turning out.
"No, I was planning on telling you either way. That's why I came tonight."
"But you like Ladybug."
"I know."
That's when it clicked.
"You weren't joking on April Fool's day."
"No," said Chat Noir.
The silence that followed his words was almost deafening. Marinette had to fill that silence.
"How did you find out?"
Before he could even open his mouth to respond she says, "Wait! I don't want to know."
"You don't?"
"Well," she said, "I know you didn't read the letter, and I trust that you didn't try to figure me out by following me. It was all an accident, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, it was."
"Then I don't need to know and we can leave it at that. If you tell me that you saw me somewhere or I said a certain thing that tipped you off, it might help me figure out who you are."
"What if I want to tell you who I am?"
"Chat you know we can't, it's dangerous enough with you knowing who I am."
"I'm fine with the danger."
"But I'm not!"
Both Chat Noir and Marinette are surprised that she raised her voice at him.
"Sorry… I didn't mean to yell. I care about you Chat, I don't want you in anymore danger than you already are just being Chat Noir."
"I don't get why it's so dangerous for us to know. If we are careful not to let Hawkmoth take control of us, we won't have anything to worry about. It's not like we are going to turn against each other."
"I know but can we just keep this reveal one-sided, for now at least? It's not that I don't want to know, I do, I just don't want to risk anything."
"You're so stubborn, but I understand."
"Thank you Chat."
He took her hand and kissed the back of her knuckles. "Anything for you Princess."
He dropped his hand but she didn't let go. They simply stayed like that for a moment, letting everything sink in. Running the words he had spoken earlier through his head, Chat realized he said something implied he originally only visited because he knew she was Ladybug.
"Oh, in case I may have confused you earlier, I didn't know you were Ladybug when I first started coming by. I only found out recently."
"Then why did you start coming by?"
"Because I liked your company."
She didn't say anything in response, instead leaning against him with their hands still together.
Chat Noir was sure he was dreaming.
"I should go before it gets too late."
"Before you go."
Marinette races back into her room leaving Chat alone for a moment before popping up from the trap door with something hidden behind her back.
"I have something for you."
"What is it?" he asks despite having a pretty good idea of what it is.
She handed it over to his so he could see. "It's a Chat Noir doll."
He knew she was making it for him, but seeing the end product really touched his heart.
"Thank you Princess."
He took a risk and planted a kiss to her cheek.
"Goodnight."
And he was off before she could react, but at least he saw her face go red.
He was coming by tomorrow to see his Princess no matter what.

The Tale of Danny Northshore: Madden Legend
Folks, We here at 4thdownsports have a confession. Some of us absolutely suck at football video games. Competitive Madden online? No chance. NFL Blitz on the couch against our friends who don't know that punt is not a good option on 2nd and 1? More of our speed.
Except.. well there is a man we have here that we know as Danny Northshore. Danny Northshore is the fucking king of sports games. Most video games, in fact, are conquered by Danny.
For example:
Once playing Mario Kart 64, he was in dead last on the final lap. Suddenly, a series of events occurred which caused all the others to fall apart. Tension struck the room, and Danny muttered 5 words that will always be remembered as our dying words "the game has corrected itself." It was the perfect description of how Danny lives. As if it is always going to go his way. And if it doesn't, the world is under his control and he will force it to adapt.
Such is madden, where Danny reigns supreme. He has competed against many friends and online players, beating opponents ranked nationally as well as all takers throughout High School, College, and in his professional life as a Golf instructor/ connoisseur of women (or so he claims).
Madden 05: "The Lonestar":
During a high school baseball tournament, where Danny took the Northshore on a national tour of madden destruction from the brisk springtime air of Ohio to the humid beaches of Myrtle, in the Carolina of North. Northshore's tour de force was equivalent to the Madden bus tearing through the US, as he invented a defense in Madden 2005 he termed "lonestar". Danny formulated a pass rush/coverage scheme that was unstoppable. He was shifting linemen and taking a speedy linebacker over the middle in which he would either rush the passer, or pick off or deflect any oncoming pass. Many tried to stop him, none succeeded.
Madden 06: "The QB Cone":
I joined the Madden bandwagon in 2006 after his beloved NFL 2k5 was bought out by Madden. Madden 2006 debuted, Donovan McNabb on the cover and a new passing system dubbed the "QB Vision Cone". The vision cone was controlled by the right joystick, and made your QB remarkably more accurate if your intended receiver was within the cone.  I was pretty good at NFL2k and figured this would translate into Madden, I also was very familiar with Madden since I played Madden 95 until I could put up over 100 points in Rod Woodson kick returns. This did not translate as well as I believed, and Danny Northshore wreaked havoc upon myself as well as Pat, and a large group of friends. One was lucky to put up any points let alone get a cheap victory. "The Broken thumb" game: One night, at a party at our host Pat's house, we had a projector ready for a big NBA playoff game in the garage. After some pre-gaming and drinking, Northshore decided to host an open Madden challenge. I took the chance due to one factor: Danny's broken right thumb.
You see, Danny broke his thumb playing football the week earlier and was in a brace. This was supposed to not end well for him. Unable to use a thumb to hit the player action buttons and truck stick should stop a player in his tracks, but not Danny Northshore. He drubbed me and my precious Pittsburgh Steelers with a beatdown that would lower my Madden morale beyond belief.
The Summer of defeat:
The summer of 2008 marked a new era for Madden. We finally saw some awesome graphics via the new Xbox 360 console. New graphics, new gameplay, new commentary, same old results. The entire summer, I would head to Danny's to play Madden on the off days from a college summertime job.   Danny was more hooked on Madden then ever, thanks, in part, to a show on ESPN 2 where players would tour on a Madden bus worldwide. Dan had high aspirations, and learned a few new catchphrases from the show's mostly ghetto white participants. Danny's favorite? "Dont tryyyyyy meeeeee". In one particular episode, a player was taunting another by screaming this phrase to his face. It results in punches being thrown and a DQ for the round. I do not doubt this was Danny's objective when screaming this phrase.
Throughout the summer, Danny and his new catchphrase dominated in Madden on the Xbox 360. My faith and confidence in my video game skills diminished as well as hopes of keeping up.
"Broken controllers and dreams": With the Xbox 360 came better broadband networks, a really good Xbox Live experience, and the boom of online play. Danny took advantage, playing and beating numerous peers and online ranked players. Many times, players would grow frustrated with a newly found glitch called the "Nano Blitz". Danny would like up linemen tight on the Center, pinch the linebackers, and would send an all out blitz. The results were infuriating. Instant sacks. Handoffs being taken by defensive linemen instead of the running back. Chaos.
Players became furious with Danny. He can recall friends slamming headsets, punching doors, putting holes in the wall, and throwing controllers. The controller spike was a normal reaction to playing him.One of which I was very familiar with. But one particular opponent took his frustrations to the next level constantly... A college friend of Northshore's would compete online with Danny nightly in online "friendlies" as well as a league. Nano blitzes and an unstoppable offense would leave him infuriated. The results: Controllers spiked through a shattered glass table, holes punched into a wall, a very angry girlfriend after hearing the constant screaming, and the coup-de-grace: a controller spiked into the ground ruining a brand new LED TV.
"The Madden Bowl": Eventually, a larger group of friends formed, and super bowl hangouts became more prevalent into adulthood. The one childhood nostalgia we wanted to keep up with: Madden tournaments. What could be more fitting to start off a super bowl with than to play some Madden in a tournament for some money? Good times...right...? Danny Northshore won every Madden bowl we ever held.
Until, Feb 2, 2013. Super Bowl 47.
Danny Northshore ripped through his opponents while I did the same on the way to the Final Battle. Title on the line, a preview of the game was to be played between my chosen 49ers and his Ravens. Bets were on the line, I had been prepping in secret by playing Madden like a fiend. My training was complete, I was ready to take down the champ.
The game goes by as expected, Dan is up by 7, then 14-0. Then suddenly, it happened. A fumble. Move downfield and score, 14-7. Then another turnover for a score, 14-14. Halftime comes. Danny to receive a kickoff and hope still in the air. Onside kick! Recovered by me! I have a chance! I go up, then Dan mounts a comeback. Down 21-14 he evens it up and the goes ahead 28-21. 1 minute left. Driving down the field with my 9ers I throw a Play Action route to TE Vernon Davis for a HUGE gain. No huddle, run the same play, HUGE gain again! Third time, seconds left on the clock, Davis in the corner and it looks like we're going into overtime!
But then, I make a decision. I knew going into OT I wasn't going to make it out alive. ..The tension mounted as I picked a sure-fire play. FB fake HB Toss on the goaline for the win of Madden Bowl 2013. Fake goes to Frank Gore, Kaepenick with the toss... NANO BLITZ SACK! "
"Are you fucking kidding me!?" I shrieked as I spiked my controller into the wall. It was over. Danny was victorious yet again.
Since that Madden bowl, we have given up on the thought of competing with him. We have tried other bowls, Tecmo Bowl, Blitz Bowl, other games where you can rely more on luck than skill.
Still, the game always finds a way to correct itself, and Danny is victorious year after year. Many of us have given up on modern gaming, probably for the lack of ability to keep up with the times, but one legend still has the magic in his eye. Blitz Bowl may be fun, but nothing is ever the same as the Madden Bowl.

4 Times Damian Lost Family Game Night, And One Time He Didn't
Title: 4 Times Damian Lost Family Game Night, And One Time He Didn’t
Rating: G/SFW
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1728
Fandom: Batman/Batfam
Ships: None
Characters: Dick Grayson, Tim Drake , Jason Todd, Damian Wayne, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown (maybe more)
Notes: I’ve actually been working on this for a while,,,,, so I hope it’s good!
Summary: Tim is extremely ticklish. Damian finding out is his downfall.
-1-
Every month the Waynes have their family game night. They realized early on, that they couldn’t play board games on this night. It just wasn’t an option. Things tended to get very physical very fast when they played competitive board games, so instead, they found other games.
This month they got into teams, and they had a Mario Kart tournament that lasted the entire night.
Today the teams were Tim, Jason, Steph, and Bruce, against Dick, Damian, and Cass. Damian and Dick had already been eliminated, as well as Bruce and Steph. So currently Cass was kicking Jason’s ass. It was kind of like a relay the way they played. Two people would start, one from each team, and whoever won got to stay on, whichever team went through all of their players first, were the losers. Cass was the only one team blue had left, and frankly, she was their best player.
After she got Jason out however, Tim was on. Tim, was by far, the best Mario Kart player in the house. He’s dedicated. As the round began, Tim had quickly passed Cas, and was almost close to lapping her on his 2nd lap.
Dick stuck his hands forward, a playful grin spreading on his face. He leaned a little into Tim from his position behind him, and began to poke Tim wherever he could reach.“Dihihihick thahahahahats cheheheating” Tim giggled, a death grip on his wii remote. He was trying to avoid the fingers, by scrunching up his various body parts, but he was surprisingly going steady. Dick stopped after a few more seconds, but Damian stared on. What was that? How did Dick get Tim to react like that? Eventually his thoughts were disrupted by Tim’s shouting. Their team had won, and Damian certainly didn’t like losing.
-2-
This month’s game in the Wayne house was hide and seek. Yes, it seemed pretty juvenile, but who doesn’t love a good game of hide and go seek?
It was in the last round, and Cas was it. She looked everywhere, but being trained assassins and ninjas, the Waynes proved to be pretty hard to find.
She walked into one of the libraries in the manor and pulled the secret book. It caused the bookshelf to open like a door, revealing one grimacing Damian.
“How did you find me first?” Damian asked angrily. This meant he would now have to help Cas find the rest of the clan.
As Damian walked deeper into the manner to search, he began to hear giggling. Giggling that closely resembled Tim’s from their last family game night. The closer Damian got to the secret room under the stairs, the louder the giggling got.
Once he opened the latch, it revealed a disheveled Tim getting tickled and prodded by Jason.“Found you.” Damian said in a monotonous voice.“But you still lost” Tim responded with a smirk.

The next family game night consisted of Twister. In a family full of ninja-trained athletes, Twister got pretty competitive. They had an extended mat so that the eight of them; Tim, Dick, Jason, Damian, Bruce, Steph, and Cas could all fit on it.
They were all in extremely awkward positions as Alfred read out the instructions on the spinner.
“Left foot green Mater Damian,” he spoke, watching as Damian tried to get his left foot over his right even though his hand were both on the mat.
Damian came down hard, toppling Cas, and Steph in the process.
“Damian! You’re such a dildo!” Steph yelled, pushing his shoulder.
“Steph,” Bruce said as a warning “Don’t call your brother a dildo.”
Damian, and Steph walked over to couch and sulked, and Cass sat down next to them (her usual ray-of-sunshine- self).
Quickly after that, Jason was out too, claiming that it’s harder to play twister in jeans. They watched as Dick, an acrobat, Tim, the best fighter of the Robins, and Bruce, the mentor of all of them, battled it out on the Twister mat.
The losers could see the players getting tenser as the time went on, especially Bruce who had trained both. As Bruce’s turns went on Damian noticed that his father would try to skim Tim’s sides every time he had to move a hand.
Eventually Bruce fell over, leaving Tim and Dick to battle it out. Bruce was mad that his kids had beat him at a game based on flexibility, but he went over to sulk with the rest of his kids.
“I was in the circus for most of my childhood Tim, I can do this with my eyes closed.” Dick taunted
At some point, just to show off, Dick did a bridge and held it, but he managed to align himself so that his face was in front of one of Tim’s sides. Tim’s shirt had ridden up from being in such an awkward position, and he giggled as Dick blew, almost losing balance.
“Dihihihik yohohohoure a cheheheahahater.” He giggled, using every ounce of his energy not to move away. Dick extended his bridge as much as he could, and his lips were basically touching Tim’s side. Dick began to blow raspberries on Tim’s side.
“NOHOHO!” Tim squealed, bucking his hips without his limbs leaving the spots. However, his hip bucking was enough to knock over the outstretched gymnast beside him.
Tim got out of the awkward position and began to cheer for his win, but not for very long. Because soon he was sprinting out the door running from an angry Dick.

May’s family game night wasn’t really a game, but more of a competition. Bruce, Dick, Damian, Tim, and Jason all headed to the batcave’s gym, towards the monkey bars. They were going to have a competition to see who could hang upside down the longest.
On the surface, this would appear to be easy for the bats, but they really weren’t used to hanging upside down. They move quickly, and never stay for too long, so this was a new challenge.
Jason decided not to take part, so he went from person to person and attempted to make everybody crack.
First, it was Bruce. Jason opened his mouth to speak and Bruce climbed down, sighing.
“I’m getting to old for this, I don’t even want to know what you were going to say.” Bruce spoke, walking out of the room.
Next was Damian, who was nearly as easy to knock as Bruce. Jason made ocean noises, reminding Damian how seasick he would get on water, and Jason could’ve sworn Damian turned green. He was off those monkey bars almost faster than the flash.
Damian used his inherited skill, and brooded while he watched Tim and Dick. Jason walked up to Dick and leaned really close to his ear, and simply whispered “The flying Graysons.”
“That was a low blow Jason, but I’m not gonna give up.”
“Fine. So be it…. Heyy Timmy,” Jason said, walking closer to Tim. Jason got a look in his eyes that scared Tim.
Tim’s hands were dangling above his head and Jason was ruthless, he knew what was coming. He felt fingers enter his armpits and he absolutely lost it.
“NOHOHO JAHAHASOHOHON NOHOHOHO!” Tim screamed, falling to the ground beneath him.
Dick won this competition, but Tim sure still beat Damian.

Tim was bored and it was hot. It was really, really hot, and he was really, really bored.
It was him, Damian, and Jason sitting in the game room of the mansion. He had already beat Dami in air hockey and Jason in Guitar Hero Live, and he didn’t know what else to do.
Suddenly he got an idea and turned on the television, throwing a Wii remote at Damian.
“You. Me. Mario kart.” He spoke, jokingly staring Damian down.
“It’s on Drake.” Damian replied, actually glaring at Tim (because ya know, he’s Damian).
They began the race, 800cc with Tim as Daisy and Damian as Donkey Kong. Tim was surpassing Damian by a whole lot, lapping him once, and almost twice.
As he began to gloat, finishing his 1st lap, he felt pokes to his side. They were small subtle fingers, testing the waters.Tim grit his teeth, quickly turning to look at Damian. “W-what are y-you doing D-Dami?” He questioned, attempting to finish the race.
“Hmmm… Just testing something out Drake,” Damian spoke, a mischievous grin on his face. Tim was going fine for half of the 2nd lap, until Damian kicked it up a notch. He tossed his controller at Jason, knowing that Jason was usually on his side, and began to dig harder into Tim’s sensitive sides.
“Dahahahamihihiahahan! Stahahap ihihit!” Tim tried to speak, his giggles getting louder.
“Try his neck Demon-Spawn,” Jason told Damian, attempting to finish the race (rainbow road is a real kicker).
“Jahahasohohon! Yohohou’rehehe ahahah traiahaTOHOHOR DAHAHMIHIHIAHAN STAHAHAP!” Tim squealed, trying to scrunch in his neck.
“His hips and armpits get him pretty badly too,” Jason continued.
“JAHAHASOHOHON IHIHIHIM GOHOHONNAHAHA KIHIHIHILL YOHOHOU!” Tim screamed, thrashing so hard he lost the death grip on his remote.
“I really never expected you do have such a silly weakness Drake.” Damian spoke, kind of enjoying torturing Tim.
At this point Damian was scratching at Tim’s neck and clawing at his hipbones, overwhelming the older boy. Tim was screaming and squealing, thrashing madly. Tim is really, really ticklish, and at this point he was going absolutely mad. For someone who never knew affection as a child, Damian was oddly good at this. Damian’s nimble fingers and knowledge of the human body’s nervous system were really driving Tim up the wall. He didn’t know how much more he could take.
Tim went into silent laughter just as the congratulatory music began to play. Damian hadn’t stopped tickling though.
“DAHAHAHAHAMIHIHIAHAHAN PLEHEHEHEASE! YOHOHOHOU WIHIHIHIN! YOHOHOHOU WIHIHIN!” Tim laughed out in agony. Damian didn’t stop until he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“You should stop now Damian, we don’t want to kill Tim,” Jason spoke, leaning in to whisper “trust me, i tried. Bruce wasn’t too happy.”
Damian finally got off of Tim, cheering because he had finally won something against the former Robin.
Tim really wanted to give him an ego check and remind him that Tim had won all the other times, but he was definitely not up for a round two.

Mario Kart 64 tourney summary!
Ok so I had another fantastic time in Columbus, playing Mario Kart 64. Thanks for support, guys! I’m glad to be still playing the best Kart after all these years.
Tourney was pretty stacked! Literally HALF the participants were veterans who had played in the finals of previous tournaments (not just the tourneys, but the finals!), and I got stuck in the toughest pool group! My pool had one newcomer, who was pretty good, three past finalists, and two past champions (including myself). The TO decided to do two rounds of pools, so eight races. I struggled on Moo Moo Farm, as I always do, and finished in 3rd in the first race. But, then I got 1st in each of the other 7 courses in Mushroom and Flower Cups!! I was a little surprised, but I was doing my best to just knock out the biggest threat every time I got an item instead of trying to get out in front, and it worked! I didn’t get to play Peach, though, so I had to go with Toad.
In the finals, I didn’t get to play as Peach or Toad, so I went for the fan pick and used Wario. I managed to claw back on DK and Yoshi Valley for two 1sts, and was in 1st the entire race of Banshee Boardwalk. Thanks to the fact that the same person didn’t finish in 2nd every time, I knew I was mathematically guaranteed 1st overall, so Rainbow Road was just a fun race for me. I ended up getting 3rd, but I could have taken 2nd if I didn’t horribly miss-play the end of the 3rd lap. But, it didn’t matter in the end! I won another trophy, a Mario lanyard, a little light that looks like a [?] block, a shirt, and $40!
Now I’ve got 3 tournament wins from 4 attempts in Columbus and I’m really enjoying the tournaments there! I’ve talked to a few of the other players and they are mostly good people, with only a couple of Salty Stevens. Hopefully they keep coming back because the races today were all really competitive and close.
