“You okay now?” Luke breathed heavily as you fell against his chest, your head falling into his shoulder.
“Y-Yeah…” You looked at nothing. Your body slumping to the ground. Luke frowned, falling down on the ground with you in his arms. Alex and Reggie’s somber expressions staring down at you. They could feel a change in the atmosphere.
“I’m fine.” You croaked as you studied a crack in the floor.
“You’re not.” Luke shook his head. “You don’t have to be okay. He just killed you.” Luke looked up glaring at Caleb who drew his lips into a line.
“My god, what a sad fest. Don’t fret my darling. Being dead has its perks!” Caleb clasped his hands, throwing you a smile.
“How…?” Your voice cracked.
“Come to the Hollywood Club with me and find out. Unless you’d rather stay here with the boys and cross over…”
“W-What?” You rasped looking up at Luke. “What’s he talking about, Luke?” Your eyes threaten to shed tears. Luke looked horrified. He wanted to keep that part from you for as long as he could. It was too soon, too fast, and Caleb just ruined it all.
“They’re crossing over tonight, so exciting!” Caleb emphasized as Luke helped you stand up. You had never felt so tired. Your eyes were on the verge of giving out. You just wanted to…to die.
“Crossing over, like to heaven?” You turned to face the guys. Luke smiled nervously to attempt to level the tension in the room. “You were gonna leave…without saying goodbye?” Your voice grew small.
“Y/n I was gonna - we were gonna tell you. W-We didn’t want you to find out this way.” Luke stammered over his words.
“Then how, Luke. In a letter - with your lousy handwriting?” You hummed, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Well it wouldn’t have been mine, probably Alex’s…But that’s besides the point! I was gonna tell you. I just needed to find the right time. That’s been hard to come by lately though.” Luke scoffed. His face fell as his hand reached for your hand but you moved it out of his way.
“Like me dying…” You avoided his gaze. “Like you dying.” Luke nodded.
“And now you and the guys are crossing over.” You lifted your head and Luke sighed heavily as he saw you cry. “What’s gonna happen to me…I don’t wanna be alone.” You shook your head. This time allowing Luke to cradle you into his embrace, your head perched in the crook of his neck as he wrapped his arms around you.
“You’ll never be alone. Not as long as I’m still here.” Luke pecked your temple. “We won’t leave you, Y/n.” Reggie finally spoke up after a long event of chaos. “Yeah, we’re still here.” Alex added.
“This is beautiful, it really is, but about crossing over…” Caleb interrupted the moment with his voice. You pulled back from Luke and turned to face the old bat. Your expression was stone cold. Luke caught the look on your face and stood beside you. His hand extended out in front of you. Not to protect you, but to hold you back. “No one really knows what’s waiting on the other side…but I know what’s happening on this side.” Caleb smirked watching as all your faces fell. Caleb’s hand went in to blow a kiss, but the kiss was nowhere near endearing. The sound of his smooch had you staring at him in question until a gust of magical air blew towards you. You stumbled backwards fearing for your life. Luke had stepped in front of you to block you from it, but the air still managed to push everyone back.
Then you were gone.
Caleb had crossed his leg over the other. Resting back on his hands, cackling at how much he enjoyed doing that little trick of his.
He eyed your cold dead body on the ground and snapped his fingers making it disappear.
-
It had only been a few seconds before the four of you popped up again. You all gasped as your feet hit the ground. You all looked at each other. Then at the outfits you were wearing. Luke had only taken a second to taken in his attire, before his eyes fell on your outfit. He gulped as his eyes scanned you from head to toe. Caleb poofed you guys to the Hollywood Ghost Club, and your own outfits were misplaced by suits and…
“A dress! Oh he did not just put me in a dress.” You held back the two pieces of hair that dangled in front of your face with your hands, looking down at yourself.
Caleb came down a set of stairs filing his nails. He smirked and nodded to himself at his handy work.
“Well don’t you look nice.” His eyes raked over everyone’s, then he stopped at you. “Mmmm.” He hummed tilting his head, then bringing it back upright. You looked at him with your mouth agape and a scrunched face. You felt offended by his hum.
“Sweet threads.” Reggie’s eyes were wide as he gulped.
“How- How’d you know our sizes?” Alex put his hands out observing his sleeves and pink blazer.
Luke on the other hand felt like he was suffocating. Like he had a collar on that wouldn’t come off. His hands trying to pry the buttoned up shirt and bowtie off that adorned his neck.
“That’s your question!” He finally snapped.
“Is this material cotton?” You lifted one side of your dress trying not to step on it. You turned your neck trying to get a look at yourself. Your shoulders slouched as you felt like too much skin was being exposed.
“Satin! Don’t wrinkle it.” Caleb disapproved of your slouching and straightened you up. You huffed as his hands lifted your head up. “Confidence is a woman’s best weapon. Use it darling.”
“I’m not that confident though, and I’m…not wearing a bra, oh my god!” Your eyes widened. You turned around in a circle trying to find anything new about the dress. “Could have used some pockets…” You hummed in disapproval like he had done to you early.
“She can use mine!” Reggie’s mouth fell open finally getting a good look at you. Luke hit him in the back of the head for ogling at you.
“No pockets, and please tell me you are not a ditz in those heels.”
“Does platform boots count?”
“Did they have a heel?”
“Not really…” You grimaced and looked away.
“Satin help me…” Caleb muttered under his breath, closing his eyes to compose himself. “That’s okay no one will be looking at your feet during the party anyway.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well honey. The boys are here to play music, you on the other hand are a wonderful addition. Every host needs a right hand woman.” Caleb smiled, lifting your hand to kiss the back of it. You grew silent as Caleb kept talking. “I can see it now! The boys playing back up for the one and only mystique. Heart of an angel..Voice of a nightingale.” He motioned out with his hand in front of you two.
“I-I can’t sing though.” You began dismissing the idea.
“Not yet, a bit of vocal training…I mean torturing.” He chuckled. “I’m just kidding…a bit of touch ups…that hair needs some serious work too. I did what I could for tonight, but good heavens.” He put a hand on his chest. “We can even throw in lover-boy for a special duet. Two nights a week, V.I.P access only. Everyone will be dying to hear you sing.”
“What kind of twisted game are you playing here?” You mocked him with a laugh. “The glam, the fame, the music, the spotlight. Is that your lousy way of riling people in?” You stood in front of the boys. “No! You just want more people to praise you. Love you, yet you’re running out of options for new attractions…I bet your sorry ass that’s why you needed the boys. I can’t really say much for me, but I didn’t want to die today!” You yelled out the rest of your pent up emotions. “I was doing pretty fine on my own. I had a job that paid decently, I was starting school, then I came by the studio and my whole world flipped. I am so angry at you.” You point your finger at Caleb.
“You chose a hard one to love, Luke.” Caleb jokes, as he looks over your shoulder to look at him.
“Oh my god, enough with all the ‘I love yous’. Luke doesn’t love me. You’re only saying that he does, which I don’t believe. I won’t believe Luke loves me until he verbally confirms he does or doesn’t, and he hasn’t said anything yet, so he doesn’t, okay. So quit saying that he does and leave us alone! And for your information, I worked hard to provide for myself ever since my parents disowned me. I didn’t have a place to live before. I busted my ass to get where I am today, and you killed me. You ruined my life and it all feels pointless now…like it was all for nothing. You took that from me, and I can’t get it back.” You let your arms fall to your sides. “I don’t know what to do anymore, and you think putting me in a dress and making me look pretty is going to make up for the pain you’ve caused me?” You chuckled darkly. You shook your head gripping at your hair-do and pulling at the roots. “I can’t do this anymore…I can’t! Just make it stop, make it stop already. The pain, the frustrations. I can’t take it all…it’s too much! Everything changed so fast!” You cried tripping over your own feet. Luke rushed forward catching you. He looked up at Caleb then cooed at you. Telling you words of reassurance, but they all went over your head. “Just make it stop.” You pleaded with the man standing before you. Caleb held in a tear. Not wanting to let you win this round. He felt something in his chest that hadn’t been there in a long time.
Perhaps it was- no that couldn’t be it, emotions were pathetic, and he wouldn’t dare feel any.
“Just make it go away. I want it to go away…” You closed your eyes, slumping back into Luke’s chest. Your breathing shuddered.
“Okay.” That was all Caleb said before he snapped his fingers, and you were gone from Luke’s arms. He looked over his lap wondering what the hell just happened.
“Where’d she go?” Luke stood up, turning in circles.
“Relax, she’s fine. In fact she’s chatting up my guest right now…” Caleb smirked motioning with his fingers over to the curtain of silver strands. Luke, Alex, and Reggie walked over with hesitant steps. Caleb pulled back the curtain with one hand to let the boys have a look for themselves. Their faces fell as they saw a change in the way you held yourself.
Luke’s heart broke at the sight of you laughing at what someone said in the chair next to you. A man he’s never seen before giving you his undivided attention. You hit the man playfully then stood up to talk amongst others. Your whole personality seemed off. It almost felt like…
“Look at the way she fits in. She’s a natural!” Caleb watched in amazement as you made friendly talk with some of the people. Some being couples, or groups, even the staff, and the band of girls. “Just look at her, she walks with grace, such poise in her movements, and oh- look at that smile. When’s that last time you’ve seen her smile, boys?”
Luke gasped. “What did you do to her?”
“I did what she asked me to…I took all the pain, all her frustrations, away. She looks happier.” Caleb gestured towards you touching peoples shoulders and asking them if they had been enjoying themselves so far.
“She looks like-” Luke couldn’t find the right word for it. “Like an angel…” Alex commented.
“Like an angel indeed, Alex.” Caleb patted his shoulder softly.
“No it looks like you put a spell on her or something. That’s not her at all!” Luke seethed. “I mean look at her, the dress, the makeup, the jewelry, the heels. She hates them with a passion by the way. T-The hair, the posture, I mean down to the-” Luke choked on his words as he realized just how revealing the dress was. “-is that a slit running down her leg?” Luke looked like a fish out of water.
“Maybe why?” Caleb nudged him playfully.
“Wow okay…” Luke stared at you for another second before he snapped out of it. “T-That’s besides the point, the point is that she’s not herself. She looks like a carbon copy of herself. Y/n isn’t poise, and graceful, she slouches and trips over her own feet. She likes rock t-shirts and ripped jeans, and combat boots, not dresses with slits, and heels.” Luke looked back at you. “That’s not her, that’s not the Y/n we know.”
“Not the Y/n you love, you mean?” Caleb raised an eyebrow at him.
“She told you to quit talking about that!” Luke clenched his jaw. Staring at the man dead in that eye.
“Yet you keep failing to deny the obvious fact that you do indeed love her.”
“Why are you so adamant for me to say that I love her?” Luke sighed. “Why do you care so much?”
“Because you won’t admit it, or at least to her you won’t.” Caleb shook his head. “I see a fire in your eye when you look at her.” Caleb walked over to Luke turning him so he was facing the crowd of people. “She’s the only thing that matters. Y/n is the only one you want to see everyday. Only one and you’d do anything for her.” Luke’s smile fell as he watched you mingle, taking a sip of a glass of wine. “She cries, you’re there to dry her eyes. She falls, well it’s obvious you’ll always catch her. She’s upset, you make her day. She’s scared, you make her feel brave.” Luke looked down at his feet. “Yet it’s when she gives up entirely, you’re upset. Why is that?”
“Because that’s not really her being her real self, don’t you get that?”
“How do you know though? I didn’t take away the parts that make her, her, Luke.” Luke perked up at this furrowing his brows in confusion. “I just took away the bad parts that made her not want to go on anymore. I didn’t entirely change her…some of this comes from her own desires.”
“What do you mean?” Luke asked.
“He means that…she wants this? That’s why she gave in….” Alex looked up at Caleb saddened by the fact he was starting to understand it all. “She actually wants to be here? She doesn’t care?”
“Indeed.” Caleb only nodded.
“She doesn’t care about us?” Reggie felt like a kicked puppy.
“Y/n cares, Reg.” Luke reassured him, but he felt Reggie didn’t fully believe him. “She’s choosing to stay because she feels like she has no choice. Caleb took away everything she was holding onto, and now she feels like she probably can’t do anything other than this, that’s gotta be it, okay.” He chuckled nervously. “She does care, she cares so much about us, and that’s why we’re not gonna let anything happen to her, okay buddy.” Luke cupped Reggie’s face.
“Why change her mind at all, look at her, she’s happy and perfect.”
“She's hopeless!. You took everything from her and now she doesn’t know what to do. That’s why she gave into you. Don’t flatter yourself.” Luke spat. “Also you were wrong to remove her bad parts. The bad parts are what make her so unique. She’s been hurt and she built herself up from all that pain she went through. Without our bad parts, we’re nothing but perfect. Being perfect and just good isn’t what defines us. People need flaws, people have flaws. Y/n has flaws and bad parts, that’s what makes her- makes me…” Luke groaned in frustration.
“Makes you love her?” Caleb breathed out a small laugh, he riled up the boy, and now they were finally getting somewhere.
“Yes I do, okay. I love her, and that’s why we’re getting out of here.” Luke’s chest rose and fell.
“We’ll see...”
“We’re not gonna play your stupid club tonight!”
“Look I know you boys aren’t my biggest fans, and an eternity at my club might seem overwhelming, but I…just put you in sweet threads so humor me this one last pitch.” The boys all looked at him. “Now for starters isn’t it nice that you’re all here together.” The boys looked at each other. “And believe me everything that you two want.” Caleb pointed to Alex and Luke. They both felt intrigued, yet felt like this was a losing game for them. “Including Willie, and Y/n, is here.” He stepped closer to them. “On my stage you don’t vanish when the music stops. You soak in the applause for as long as you want.” Caleb put his hands out to readjust Luke’s bowtie that he tugged on early. “The connection that you will feel with that audience will be like no other. I promise.” Caleb laid his hands flat on Luke’s shoulders, reassuring him that he wouldn’t be invisible to the crowds they would play in the future.
Encouraging words from the one man Luke didn’t want to trust. Caleb smirked watching something turn inside Luke’s head. He leaned in forward to whisper in the boy’s ear. “And if you decide to stay, you can have a long eternity with Y/n. You’d get to sing with her, see her in gorgeous dresses. Hell, if you’re interested I’d let you two have your very own personal, private, dressing room, all to yourselves. Imagine the magic that’d happen in there.” He chuckled, watching the boy’s mouth open agape, not knowing what to say to Caleb’s offer. Luke’s mind went somewhere that’d only stay in his thoughts. Caleb knew it too, but wanted to screw with him a little. “I mean imagine the music, the songs, duh!” Caleb shoved him. “What were you thinking?” Caleb smirked.
Just as Luke went to say something Caleb shushed him.
“Oh do you hear that? They’re waiting for you…” The boys bent over as a jolt struck them badly. They groaned as each one intensified. “That one looked like it hurt!” Caleb shrugged.
“F-Fuck off.” Luke rasped out.
“Let me remind you. You don’t know if playing the Orpheum is your unfinished business. Do you really have time to make that mistake? I suggest you take my offer because the clock is ticking.” He sing-songed as he took a sip of a martini.
“Agh.” The boys hissed out in pain again.
“Ouch.” Caleb then turned around. “You know where to find me.” He called over his shoulder. He headed out to the stage. “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m back! Now I have a special person joining me on stage tonight.” He turned his attention onto you who had been sitting next to a group of people chatting. The spot light landing on you. “Everyone please give a warm welcome to our Nightingale, Y/n Y/Ln.” You looked up surprised, but with a smile, not expecting Caleb to do this. You smiled at one of the servers who took your hand and guided you up the stairs. Caleb taking over and grabbing your hand. He twirled you once and the crowd ate it up. He leaned over to whisper in your ear. The spell he had you under to fool the boys that you wanted to stay, wore off. His smile was fake as was his personality.
“Sing or the boys get it.” Your smile faltered for a second as you looked up at the man. Calen began singing the intro. The jazzy blues rhythm taking over. “You know you wanna take a chance and be a little bit bad. Ain’t nothing quite like living on the edge, so get ready to go.” Caleb sang over to the wings of the stage where the boys stood. Then passed it off to you with a point.
“I’m chasing down a thrill and lookin’ fit to kill.” You growled as you swayed your hips. Showing off your whole outfit. “So listen to the words a wise man said…” You smirked as you placed a hand on Caleb’s shoulder.
“He said Covington, I got an offer that you can’t refuse. Ha!” Caleb laughed. The chorus then picked up in tempo. You had no idea as to how you knew the words, but you did, and it was freaking you out, but Caleb was luring you into the song just like he was doing to the boys. “You got nothing to lose boys, lose, lose, lose. You got nothing to lose boys, lose, lose, lose. You got nothing to lose. Welcome to my stage, boys…”
The second verse began, which Caleb let you take over.
You stepped up to the center swaying and moving to the beat. “You know you want a little taste.” You bit your lips letting your finger slide down your lips. Luke was about to lose his cool composure. “Life’s short, not a minute to waste. I’ll take you higher than you’ve ever been. So come over and tell me how you’d like to begin.” You motioned them over with your pointer finger to say ‘come here’. Then came the chorus. Caleb was getting the job done as the song continued to commence further into the words.
“You got nothing to lose boys, lose, lose, lose. You got nothing to lose boys, lose, lose, lose. You got nothing to lose.”
The boys could feel the music in their feet first. Luke was having a hard time making his feet stop tapping against the floor.
Alex was the first to go. His hand twirling the stick in his hand. He had looked over at it, unable to stop himself before Caleb tugged him forward. Then he was revealed to the audience as he began hitting his drumsticks.
“Alex, show me what you’ve got!”
A chorus of “go Alex!” and cheers filled the hall as Alex played his intro verse. You joined in as you heard each hit of the drums. Reggie was scared to go. Fear in his eyes as he watched the music take over Alex. Caleb saw this and dragged him in second as he was the easiest to persuade and lure in. Caleb had dragged you onto the stage with him because apart from wanting to play their instruments, you were their weaknesses.
“Reggie! Swing it, baby!” Caleb played an air bass guitar as he watched Reggie do his thing. “Oooh.”
“That’s it!” You smirked bobbing your head along to the groove of his bass. Reggie felt like everything was going to be okay as he watched you smile and dance, yet fear still struck his face.
“Now Luke, yeah!” Caleb motioned him over. Luke was last because unlike Alex and Reggie, he was stubborn-headed. Always refusing to do something he was forced into. He swung his guitar in front of him, then tried shuffling back to the wing, but Caleb only smirked and tugged him by an invisible string. Luke was pissed as his own two feet shuffled over to Caleb to be center stage alongside you. “You and me.” Caleb sang as Luke’s guitar sang to him. His riffing caused you to bite your lower lip. Caleb pushed you over to be in front of Luke as he went off on the electric.
“That’s it Lu, let me hear ya!” Your smile wide and your eyes furrowed as you focused on the way his riffs drove through you. The falls and rises of each note matched the way your face scrunched and relaxed. Luke was angry to say the least, but when it came to playing in front of you. Every bad thought would go away, just like it did now.
“How you like my new band? You got nothing to lo-do-ya-do-la-do-do-do-lo-lo.” Caleb began scatting.
“So come over here baby.” You motioned Luke over. Your backs were now pressing against each other. Your head falling on his left shoulder as you sang out. “I got what you need. Let yourself go crazy.” You shook out your hair and sang to Luke. “All bets on me, it’s electrifying. From your hat to your shoes. I feel it in the air.” You belted.
“We got nothing to lose.” You and Caleb finished off together harmonizing. The clash of Alex’s cymbals being the last to hit. “Yeah…”
The boys were left short of breath as they heard the applause of everyone, they hadn’t disappeared like the many times they did with Julie. This whole song was not fun at all. You had tried to take the boys’ attention off of Caleb and onto you, but you could only do so much on stage with a full crowd gawking at your voices and instrument playing.
“Thank you all so much! We’ll be back shortly for a special duet, so stay seated and enjoy the horderves.” Caleb announced to everyone.
You all walked off the side of the stage to catch your breaths.
“Y/n.” You finally looked up as a hand pressed itself to your cheek. You gulped as Luke’s hazel eyes met your own. “Hey you okay?” He gave you a once over.
“I’m okay, why wouldn’t I be silly.” You smiled sweetly again, like you had done to all the guests. Your giggle filed the quiet space. Luke wasn’t having it though.
“Drop the act with me, you called me Lu. You don’t have to pretend. I know.” His thumb caressed your skin. Your eyes close due to his touch. You leaned into his hand placing your own over his.
“Thank god.” You whispered. You let out a sigh. “D-Did that just happen?” You opened your eyes and scrunched your face in confusion. “Holy crap I just sang!” You said in shock.
“Wait so you’re not under his spell?” Alex extended his hand out in confusion.
“He changed you, you were acting differently.” Reggie looked at you sadly.
“Nope.” You shook your head. “Not anymore at least. Yet he couldn’t change me if he could. He just wanted to scare you guys.” You glanced down at your feet.
“So you’re still you?” Reggie played with his hands nervously.
“Still me, Reg. Well for now…” You reassured the raven haired boy. Your smile only faltered as you leaned onto one of your legs. Luke catching on to your discomfort.
“You okay?”
“Oh my god, get these off me, now!” You groaned trying to pry off the damn heels.
“Here lean on me!” Luke wrapped his arm around your waist letting you use him for support. One attempt after the other you tried taking them off but they wouldn’t budge.
“Are you fucking kidding me!” You huffed. “Are they glued on or something?” Your eyes widened.
“Trust me we’ve tried already.” Luke clenched his jaw. “These stupid suits won’t come off either.”
“You’d think magic would come with instructions or something.” You waved your hands around trying to find your balance. You almost face planted to the floor, but Luke caught you. He always caught you.
“Okay yeah, you need a break, or a chair.” He held you up.
“I just don’t want to be here.” You frowned. “J-Just take me somewhere anywhere please.” You went to grip your hair, but stopped yourself.
For that brief second, with you being in his arms, Luke remembered. He remembered how Caleb offered you a room, a dressing room for that matter. He remembered just how much you needed a minute to clear your thoughts before something big happened. You needed your time to scream into a pillow again. “Okay. Guys try and find a way out okay. I’m gonna go take her somewhere quiet.” Luke nodded to the boys before thinking of the room that was probably false, but as he let his thoughts wander to where he wanted to go. He found the room to be true as he opened them back up. The little jump you made as your feet hit the ground made you lose your balance but Luke was right there.
“What is this place?”
“Our dressing room I’m assuming.” Luke let go of you and started wandering around the room. It was better than what he thought it was gonna be. It was furnished and suitable for a Rock Star and Short Tempered girl. His expression fell as he nervously fiddled with his rings on his hands.
“We should go get the guys then-”
“No!” He cringed as he saw you flinch. “No I mean it’s not all of ours…” He furrowed his brows not knowing how to say what he needed to.
“What do you mean, you just said it’s ours?”
“Y-Yeah ours…” He motioned between the two of you. “That asshole, of course he’d give us a room like he said he would.” Luke muttered under his breath.
“Ours? Why would Caleb give us room to share that makes no sense-” Your laughter died down as you realized what was happening. “Caleb gave us our own room…” You trailed off, nodding.
“Yeah.” Luke stayed on one end of the room. “He seems to be so invested in our life.”
“Yep.” You bite your lip turning around to fiddle with the palettes of makeup laid out on the vanity that was placed in the room.
“I-I do, you know…” Luke stammered as he was finding the courage. This caught your attention. You turned around. Leaning back on your hands that laid flat on the vanity.
“Do what?” You shrugged.
“You know what.” Luke rolled his, smiling then scoffing. His cocky demeanor made its debut. He leaned back on the wall, one leg pressed against it. His hands in his slacks pockets. You could have killed for some pockets right now.
“I don’t think I do, Lu.” You smiled. He smiled back at you. You were playing coy. Yet you really wanted to hear him say it.
“You do. You do and I know you know that there is something going on here.” He gestured between the two of you.
“With, not being able to leave the club?” You jutted your lip out, as you played coy.
“You’re really gonna make me say it, huh?” He looked down at his white shoes. You crossed your hands over your chest. He looked up at you. Your brow raised as you waited. “C-Caleb ruined everything.” He pushed himself off the wall. “I was gonna tell you about it sooner, but I guess now is as good of a time as any, given the circumstances.” He nervously chuckled. “I-I had this whole plan, well it wasn’t really my plan, the boys helped too, but I- I had a plan to ask you out.” He shied away from your eyes. “I-I had a song and everything planned out, even your favorite flower.” He slowly walked over to you. Your arms uncrossing. “Maybe even then I would have taken you out on a walk through the city…It was stupid-” He shook his head.
“No!” You tilted your head to catch his eye. “No, it’s not. It’s sweet.” You pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I would’ve loved it.” You smiled.
“I’m sorry you had to die.” He whispered as he grabbed your hand to trace his thumb over it.
“Shit happens.” You shrugged. “We can’t control everything…” You trailed off.
“But I can control this.”
“What-”
“I love you!” He finally said it. “I love you, okay. So much it kills me...even though I’m already dead.” Luke laughed, his eyes gleaming over. His head pressing against yours.
“Took you long enough.” You muttered softly as you could feel his lips hover over yours. “I love you too.” You brought your hands up to play with the nape of his hair on his neck. Luke’s hands feeling over your satin dress. He pushed you back slightly. You obliged, walking backwards until you hit the edge of the vanity. Luke took the moment to bend down to lift you onto the counter. Your legs dangling over the edge. It was only then that Luke’s lips fell on yours. He took his time not wanting to rush your first kiss. Never getting the chance to have one in the 90′s, he finally had the chance to do it now. You tightened your eyes shut, running your hands up his hair. Tugging and pulling him closer. Luke moaned into your mouth as his hands ran up and down the sides of your dress that had the slit. His tender light touches caused goosebumps to create over your skin.
As sweet as the moment had been, you had been waiting for this moment. You pushed against his chest to depart from the heated feverish kiss to catch your breath.
“God I hate your suit.” You huffed, as your eyes trailed over him.
“Y-You do?” Luke began getting self conscious.
“Not entirely I just need to-” You ran your hands up to the edge of where his shoulder and sleeve met then tugged at the fabric. A tear filling the silence as you tugged harder. The entire sleeve coming off. Luke’s eyes widened as he watched you rip off his other sleeve. “That’s better.” You bite your lip. Then decided to remove his shirt and bow too. “Yeah these have to go too!” You grabbed some scissors on your far right and grabbed them. Luke didn’t even try to argue with you. Once you were done you leaned back on your hands and smirked. “God...Caleb should’ve let you show some skin, not me!” You chuckled.
“How’d you do that?”
“Scissors trump magic anytime..at least I think?” You laughed, running your hands up his arms. “How do you feel?”
Luke let his arms flex, then smirked. “Like I wanna kiss you again.”
“Nothing’s stopping you…” You smiled. Luke paused to let his eyes rake over you. For a second he thought Caleb took you from them, from him, but he didn’t. He could never take someone as amazing as you.
“God you’re beautiful.” He smiled, letting his hands caress your face.
“It’s the dress.” You shrugged, then laughed.
“That dress.” Luke’s eyes darkened as his hands fell into the slit. “I think this is the only time I will thank Caleb.” You giggled at his sweet words and pulled him in for a kiss.
Luke had tugged you closer to the edge of the counter. Your legs wrapping around his waist. Your lips smashing against each other harshly.
As he started bundling up your dress up to your waist. You grabbed onto the back of his slacks and pressed him into you. You could feel how hard he was getting. You hummed as you palmed the outline of his pants. Luke groaned moving his lips, attaching them to the side of your neck. Various love bites being left behind by the pull and sucks of his teeth and lips.
As Luke’s hands slid up the sides of your legs, his fingertips tracing over your laced undergarments….The door burst open.
“There you guys are- Oh god!” Alex exclaimed, turning around. Luke winced harshly, pulling back holding his lower lip you just bit down on.
“Alex, seriously?” Luke adjusted his slacks tugging at his legs to hide the fact he was still turned on. He stayed where he was not wanting to turn around.
“Nice timing Alex.” You nodded, then took Luke’s face into your hands. “Let me see…you’ll live, rockstar.” You leaned closer, pecking his lips sweetly.
“We’re trying to leave and you two are having sex?” Alex finally turned around.
“We were, you mean we were about to.” You corrected him.
“Okay, guys enough.” Luke butt in taking charge again. “Alex, anything?”
“No, Reggie and I tried any door we came across…” He trailed off. Something caught his eye causing him to go quiet.
“Alex? What, what is it?” Luke furrowed his brows. “H-How’d you do that?” Alex pointed to his outfit. Luke then examined his cut off sleeves.
“Y/n…” He motioned to you. “S-She ripped the sleeves off.”
Alex’s curiosity was now peaked, he looked over to Luke, then over to you, and that’s when he noticed it.
“Y-Your shoes.” Alex gasped, a smile pulling at the corner of his lips.
“What?” You held your two front hair pieces back and looked down. You gasped too seeing a pair of black converse take over your feet now.
“T-They changed!” Luke caressed your arm looking down at them too.
“Maybe we’re not stuck here?” You smiled.
“Hey guys, have you found a way to leave yet?” You all turned your heads to the door, where Reggie trolled in with his red blazer slung over his right shoulder. Your smiles widening and a scoff from Alex as he stared at the raven haired boy.
“Yeah, Reg, we did.” Luke pulled you into his side. “We got a show to play, guys.” You nodded, agreeing with Luke.
“Let’s go support our girl!” You exclaimed, hyping them up.
You all huddled together gripping onto the boys’ shirts. Then a flash of purple lit up the dressing room. They were gone, but you ended up falling back onto the ground.
You looked around the dressing room frantically trying to understand why you were still here. “Did you honestly think it’d be that easy.” You whipped your head around to meet Caleb’s eyes. “You forgot something my dear…”
“W-What?” Your voice grew small, but the scowl on your face made it known to Caleb you weren’t happy.
“Yourself.” With a snap of his fingers, your body appeared beside you.

I shouldn't have shook his hand. Everyday has been getting worse since then. Willie and I have been like his own little errand boy and girl. It's been hell, and I haven't even died yet. He's been flirting with me constantly and keeps calling me his queen. Every night I have to go there to play but as soon as I'm done, I get a couple of hours of freedom to feel again.
I've started drinking there, something I never thought I would do, but it's helped relieve some of the stress. School has been hell and my parents are never there. But every time I play my guitar, sing, and just being on the dance floor helps me get away from all that, all the stress and pain I feel.
♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩👻 ♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩
Flynn was quick to drag me out of class as soon as the bell rang. We ended up meeting up with Julie at her locker "Hey, underachiever." Flynn said as the two of us now stood by Julie. I held one of the straps of my backpack in hand, that same strap being thrown over my shoulder as Julie sent us both smiles.
"Hey, disappointment and crazy lady"
Me and Flynn looked at each other before going back to look at Julie "Okay, I know you don't want us to ask-" I cut her off while stating "Flynn, this is all you. Not me." I let out a small chuckle as she rolled her eyes and groaned a little. "Okay, fine. I know you don't want me to ask, but have you figured out what you're gonna do today?" Julie shrugged while shaking her head slowly.
She spoke "I'll know in the moment." I let out a sigh before commenting "So that's a definite no." Flynn sighed as well before trying to talk her into things "Really, Jules? That's all you're giving us? Mrs. Harrison said this is your last chance." Julie nodded her head "I know. I was there." An all to familiar giggle caught mine and Flynn's attention followed by an annoying high pitched voice.
"See you at the rally!"
Flynn spoke up first, as I glared daggers at the ogre across the hall. "Ugh, What is she handing out?" The three of us watched as she said hi to the students walking past while handing them her flyers. "Desperation?" Julie asked, causing me and her to snicker as we fist bumped.
The princess herself then started walking in our direction. I stepped back a little in annoyance as she stopped in front of the three of us. She handed Flynn a flyer "Here you go" she dragged out the 'o' in go, a forced smile on her face "My groups preforming at the spirit rally tomorrow." Handing another flyer to Julie, she slowly took it out of Carries hand. "I'm sure you guys have nothing better to do." A fake smile sat on her face.
Flynn sarcastically stated "Oh my gosh, Carrie. Thanks!" Carrie delightfully stared back just as dramatic "Oh my gosh, Flynn. Don't bother coming!" All while playing with her necklace. Carrie then turned to me, as I stood there leaning against the lockers, arms crossed with a glare on my face.
"Here you go, freak. Maybe you'll see a ghost there!"
She held a beaming smile on her face as I sarcastically chuckled, ripping the paper out of her hand in annoyance. She turned around and walked away as I angrily scrunched up the flyer and threw it somewhere down the hallway. "Yeah I'll see a ghost alright." Shoving my hands in my sweatshirt pockets I continued "Hers. When I shank her with my switch blade that just so happens to have slipped out of my hands and flew across the room to her face." I stated as Flynn and Julie stared at me with frightened expressions.
I shrugged "What? She already thinks I'm crazy" Julie smiled a little while stating "Yeah well now we think your crazy." She pointed between her and Flynn. Flynn nodded her head in agreement as I smiled at them and let out a content sigh, with a nod of my head "It's a gift." The two of them stared at me for a couple seconds more before shaking there heads and dismissing my anger.
Flynn scrunched up the Flyer in her hand as Julie's attention was brought over to the boy just a few feet away from us. I shook my head while saying "Oh lord here we go." Flynn was quick to question Julie "Nick? Still? You know they're gonna get married and have a bunch of unholy babies." Julie was quick to defend herself "Nick's a sweetheart." Flynn quickly responded "Yeah, you'd actually have to talk to him to know that." This caused a chuckle to arise from me.
"And only one of them has to be a demon to make a demon baby."
I looked over at Carrie only for her back to be turned towards us. I was quick to cup my hands around my mouth while yelling "Demon!" To her, she was quick to turn and look back at us. I sent her a big fake smile along with a wink as the other two turned their heads to avoid confrontation.
To our luck she didn't march over to us, the three of us snickered as I walked over to stand between them. "There's that smile." I stated while slinging an arm over Julie's shoulder. Flynn stated "Now, let's go prove everybody wrong." Julie chuckled lightly before shutting her locker, I swung my other arm over Flynn's shoulders as the three of us walked off to music.
♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩👻 ♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩
I was one of the first to go. "Okay Mrs. Harrison. What would you like to hear today? Pick an instrument." Mrs. Harrison laughed a little as I stood up chewing my gum that I purposely put in my mouth for this class.
'Pay back time, you demon spawn from-'
"How about the bass?"
I nodded my head and gave her a two finger solute "Yes ma'am" fixing the beanie that sat on my head, I chewed on my gum as I looked through the guitars grabbing the nice shining red bass in the corner. I was quick to grab a mic and a stand, deciding to play a full song as always. I was going to play Come As You Are by Nirvana but considering the fact that I had a revenge plan going I had to shorten it.
I stood practically in front of Carrie as I plugged the aux for the bass into the amp and made sure it was on volume one (But rock it on volume ten). I decided on a song I once heard before from a movie. I cleared my throat a bit before talking into the mic that was currently attached to the stand "This song is called We Hate You Please Die" I put on a fake preppy smile and mimicked Carrie's voice as I continued. "Enjoy!" Staring her down in annoyance.
She glared at me while crossing her arms a crossed her chest. I rolled my eyes in annoyance at her as my smile instantly dropped to my resting bitch face. Playing the bass for a few minutes I started to sing.
I can't feel you
I can't feel you
I can't hear you
I can't speak 'Cause
Love don't stink
Love don't stink
Love don't stink like that cottage cheese
I here my god in a coma freeze
I here my god in a coma freeze
Lonely
Lonely
I held out the note before playing the bass some more and continuing with the song which just so happens to be a repeat of the verse I just played.
I can't feel you
I can't feel you
I can't hear you
I can't speak 'Cause
Love don't stink
Love don't stink
Love don't stink like that cottage cheese
I here my god in a coma freeze
I here my god in a coma freeze
Lonely
Lonely
Lonely like you.
On the last note, I spit my gum out, only for it to land on Carrie's vest and part of her hair. Carrie's shriek of disgust echoed throughout the room, as most of the class let out a bunch of laughs. I feigned surprise by putting a hand over my mouth and widened my eyes. "Oops." I stated "Must've forgot that I still had gum in my mouth." I smiled innocently at her as she angrily stood up.
"You ruined my outfit and all you have to say is 'Oops' ?!"
I chuckled quietly to myself while shrugging my shoulders and taking the bass off me. Mrs. Harrison turned to me, shaking her head in disappointment "Ms. (L/n), please remember to take out your gum next time." looking over at a now pissed off Carrie she continued "Carrie you may go to the nurse to see if she can help you get the gum out." Carrie huffed in anger before stomping out of the room.
I looked over at Mrs. Harrison "I can also play that on electric guitar and drums if you'd like" she looked back at me while shaking her head "Once was enough (Y/n). Thank you, you may sit." I nodded my head and threw myself down in the seat next to Flynn. When my parents started going away 24/7 I started drowning myself in music, finding a different instrument to play almost everyday. Most of the time I taught myself but other times I had someone teach me. Flynn and I fist bumped each other in amusement as I leaned back in the seat and crossed my arms a crossed my chest.
♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩👻 ♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩
One by one everyone presented, Carrie eventually came back to class gum-less. Glaring at me on her way over to her seat, I smiled smugly at her in response.
Nick was now preforming but it was soon to end and was actually really good. Everyone clapped, hell even I clapped for him. "Nice job, Nick. Almost as impressive as your game against Glendale." Mrs. Harrison's comment caused Nick and the class to chuckle. Nick went to put his guitar down as Mrs. Harrison stepped forward.
"Ok, we have one last performance."
She clapped her hands together in front of herself "Julie." I looked over at Julie only to see her head down, her cap hiding her face. She slowly looked up at Mrs.Harrison, and got up to go over to the piano. Nick walked by her as he went to his seat and she made her way to the piano.
Flynn grabbed my arm excitedly, a proud smile on her face, a small one tugged at my lips as I watched Julie make her way to the piano. 'Come on, Jules. You got this.' I thought as Julie nervously opened up her notes and put them down on the piano. She sighed heavily before sitting down slowly in the seat, she looked up at Mrs.Harrison.
"Take your time."
Mrs. Harrison stated and Julie opened the fallboard, placing her hands slowly on the keys. Only briefly before they were pulled away, causing Flynn to shoot up from he seat. Julie stood up as well, shaking her head "I'm sorry." Flynn sighed in defeat as Carrie decided to speak up "Is this when we clap?" I glared at the back of her head as Julie annoyedly marched out of the room, Flynn following close behind. I angrily kicked the back of Carrie's chair almost causing her to fall off it.
"Watch it Carrie."
I spoke while getting up to follow the two of them out of class.

Chaos! 20, Reggie x Flynn
Reggie wasn't sure what the big deal was, really. He'd worn a suit! To a red carpet! So what if it was the same suit he'd worn to the last three red carpets, the pretty red one with the butterflies. It was a good suit. His favourite, in fact.
Okay, so it was also his only suit. But nobody ragged on all the other male celebrities for wearing boring black tuxes at every event.
So why was he the one who became a meme? And why did the some of them have to be so mean about it? Luke had dragged him away from his computer before he could start a twitter fight with some youtuber who said butterflies were overrated. And that thinkpiece about Reggie re-wearing his suit because he'd grown up poor had hurt, okay? They'd even gone after his ripped skinny jeans. Those were cool! He could afford normal jeans if he wanted to!
The label hadn't been too amused by his 'guess I'll wear the red butterfly suit' meme. Even though the ones on tumblr were pretty funny. He especially liked the one of him photoshopped into disasters like the Titanic and Godzilla attacking LA.
"Just go meet with a stylist, dude," Luke said. Luke was one to talk. Stylists loved him and his stupid biceps and his stupid sleeveless shirts. Nobody ever called Luke poor for his ratty-ass shirts that didn't even have sleeves. Maybe if his knees were really swole, people would leave him alone about the skinny jeans.
"I don't want to," he whined, flopping over and putting his head in Alex' lap. Alex looked a little disgruntled, before sighing a little resigned 'okay' at him and petting his hair. Victory. "Stylists are mean. The last one tried to get me to give up my flannel. My flannel, guys!"
Alex looked down at him, putting on his Stern Face. "If you want the tiktok youths to stop bullying you, you gotta wear a different suit to the next event," he said. "It's a big one."
"But I like my red suit!" he whined some more. Alex always looked hot at red carpets, but he had ten-plus years of gay spite fueling his fashion decisions. "How am I ever gonna find something as cool as that? I don't want to show up in some boring-ass black and white tux because people can't understand sustainable fashion." That was what one of the nicer blogs had said. He was eco-friendly, okay, not poor or uninspired.
"What if you talk to a friend of mine?" Julie offered. "My friend Flynn is super fashionable, but she's not a professional stylist, she's a DJ. We always try to go shopping together for events."
Reggie thought about it. Nobody ever had something bad to say about Julie's outfits. She was always 'cool' and 'fresh' and a 'slay it queen'. "Fine," he pouted. "I'll meet your cool friend. But if she tries to take away my flannel, I'm running, I don't care if it's rude."
Julie rolled her eyes, leaning over to fist-bump him. "Deal."
Which was why, a week before their next red carpet, he got a text from an unknown number to meet him at a vintage store tucked away in a back alley somewhere. (Yes, he did check with Julie if it was her friend Flynn. He was a himbo, he wasn't an idiot.)
When he rounded the corner and saw what he assumed was Flynn standing there waiting for him, his first thought was 'wow, she really is fashionable'. His second thought, when she turned to look at him, was 'oh no, she's hot'.
His crush only grew throughout the day. Flynn was funny, and cool, and smart. She actually listened to what he had to say, and she totally agreed that his red butterfly suit was cool. She even suggested he wear something different to this event, and then wear the red suit the next time just as a big 'screw you' to the media.
He tried on a bunch of different stuff at the first store, Flynn yay-ing and nay-ing on some indecipherable scale that Reggie didn't understand. He did kind of like coming out of the dressing room and hearing her wolf-whistle at the red plaid suit, though. And if his face turned red to match when Flynn called him 'eye candy', well, all she did was wink at him.
They took a break after a few hours, getting cinnamon rolls and coffee at a local café. Flynn was so easy to talk to, Reggie could have stayed there for hours. They talked about fashion, but also music, and their childhoods. Flynn shared some incredibly funny stories about her and Julie that Reggie couldn't wait to bring up to her at some later point. Especially when she was ragging on them for being dumb.
The afternoon flew by as well. Especially when Flynn looked at him with a glint in her eyes and asked him what he thought about dresses. If the Fashion Police and the label were gonna drag him for being boring, that would be a great way to get them off his back.
Reggie had never felt prettier in his goddamn life, okay? The gown was floofy and flowly and huge, black with beautiful sparkles. The train was long and reminded him of storm clouds, rustling behind him. And it had a split at the front so he could show off 'those pretty gams of yours', as Flynn had joked. He was going to beat Alex at his own game. Hell, he was going to beat Julie. He was going to Win this red carpet.
Flynn even arranged for an Uber to meet them so Reggie could practice getting in and out of a car in it without flashing anyone or tripping on the train. He tipped the driver fifty bucks and sent her on her way. Once he was back in his ripped skinny jeans and flannel (which Flynn had said were fine, by the way, take that, stupid stylist), he met Flynn outside the store again.
"Okay, so just tell Julie to let you borrow her silver star necklace, and you should be good to go," Flynn said, checking her phone. They'd gotten shoes, found him a cool couple of rings and a bracelet, and discussed make-up. He had two new suits in a bag and the gown ready to be sent to his apartment after being steamed.
"I was thinking, maybe we could meet up some time?" Reggie asked, as they were saying their goodbyes. He didn't really want this day to end, but it was getting late and Flynn had plans.
"You need me to walk you through putting on the eyeliner?" Flynn asked, smiling.
"I was thinking more... dinner and a movie?" he said, trailing off hopefully. Flynn looked back at him, her mouth a surprised 'oh'. "If you don't- I'm sorry, if you're not interested that's cool, too, but I've never had as much fun clothes shopping as I did with you, and you're so cool and fun and funny and-"
"Dinner and a movie sounds great," Flynn said, cutting him off before he could list all the things that were great about Flynn.
A few months later, he was on the red carpet again, in his red and black butterfly suit, with the most beautiful woman in the world on his arm, wearing a matching black and red dress.
Suck it, Stylists.

You know what’s really ironic about JATP??? The fact that three of its main charcters are literal ghosts and it deals with the concept of death, but it has brought so many people, not just Julie, but people in the real world too, to life. And I think that’s what I love most about the show.

word count: 415
You bounced from one leg to another backstage. The equipment is all set up on the stage and you can hear the crowd of teenagers chatting and singing, waiting for the show to start.
You felt someone putting a hand on your shoulder causing you to literally jump out of your thoughts.
"Woo, hey, it's just me, Alex." he says smiling softly at you. You sigh at your own behavior.
"I am sorry, Alex, it's just…"
"You are nervous. I get it, I know what it's like. I still get stage fright sometimes." he says. Just then Luke walks in causing you to stare at him. Alex chuckles.
"Just a quick word of advice. Focus on the music, okay? Close your eyes and imagine you are in the studio with us."
"Thanks Alex, you are the best." you whispered, smiling weakly, still not convinced. The drummer pats you back before walking off so you can talk to Luke. The singer wastes no time to jump next to you as soon as Alex takes off.
"We start soon, I just checked, the place is packed! Are you excited!?" he practically jumps up and down like an overjoyed puppy.
"I'm.. Is it too late to go home?" you ask, fidgeting with your bracelet you got from Julie for 'good luck'.
"What? Y/N, come on, dude you're going to kill it out there!" Luke exclaims.
"I just.. It feels weird standing here when Julie is laying in bed with a fever…"
You felt Luke grab your hand and lift your chin with so you were looking at him.
"It sucks. That Julie is sick. But she said it herself, there's no one else she'd rather have in her place. She knows you can do, the boys know it, I know it and deep down you know it too. You are incredible and when we go out in…"
".. 10 seconds" shouts Reggie
"..You are going to rock everyone out there and leave 'em amazed just like you amaze me every time I see you."
"Luke.." you say
"No, y/n. You are-"
" We are starting!" Alex runs to the stage, closely followed by Reggie.
"- amazing and you can do it! I believe in you, now come on, let's not keep the crowd waiting." before pulling you towards the stage he palaces a small kiss on your cheeks causing them to heat up. And walking out hand in hand, the concert didn't seem as scary as it did before.

The Reckless Songbird
Rated T
Paring: Alex/Luke/Reggie
Summary:
Luke stomps about the garage, still soaking wet and completely naked. Soap lingers in his hair and flows all down his body, sometimes stopping to cling to the lines where his muscles meet, like his abs. He tears through his duffle bag, dumping the contents on the ground.
He’s mumbling the same words over and over, and a deduction finally makes its way out of Alex’s hormone-addled brain.
“Uhhh,” Alex starts intelligently, and Luke rounds on him with that feral gleam in his eye.
Or: Luke is inspired at the worst of times, and he almost sends Reggie and Alex into cardiac arrest more than once. To complicate matters more, the two of them are also developing feelings for each other. Bobby pushes just enough to help out.
I went ahead and made a new post for this story because it didn’t have a header before, and it’s been nominated for a few fandom awards (favorite fluff and favorite rare pair)! Lots of amazing works have been nominated, so please vote if you have the time!

A bunch of people asked questions and I quickly took the mic from Julie "Holograms." Julie quickly nodded her head agreeing with me while saying "Yes! Yes, they were holograms." She swung an arm around me while pointing to the projector up top "(Y/n), plugged it into the ceiling projector before the show." I sent her a confused look and whispered "Why me?" Only for her to respond with "Because this was your plan now live with it." I rolled my eyes at her response.
I sent the crowd a fake smile as Julie took her arm off me "I'd explain it, but it involves algorithms and science stuff. "I said as the crowd cheered and applauded for the second time that night.
The stomping of feet on steps grabbed my attention as I looked over only to see Reggie shaking his butt in front of everyone. He looked over at me, sending me a smile and wave. I just rolled my eyes in response and crossed my arms a crossed my chest while bringing my attention back to the crowd.
"Ok people, shows over."
Principal Lessa stated, turning the crowd around "Let's get back to class, please." Everyone turned around and started to walk off, I noticed Reggie trying to talk to the girl he winked at as he followed her and Carrie. I looked in front of me, only to see Mrs. Harrison, deciding to focus on her instead.
"Mrs. Harrison, we're so sorry for not asking for permission."
Julie said as I let out a small laugh the two of us sat on the edge of the stage "You are, I'm not." She was quick to hit my arm in response and send me a small glare as if to say 'shut up' causing me to let out a light laugh.
Julie went back to talking to Mrs. Harrison "We just wanted to show you that I belong here." Mrs. Harrison shook her head "As amazing as that was, your spot's already been filled by another student." She gestured to a boy coming off the stage carrying a giant cello case. I winced as the bottoms of the case kept banging on the steps as he went down them.
'That poor instrument.'
"Come on, that thing is way too big for him!"
I nodded my head in agreement as Mrs. Harrison shook her head a little "He'll grow into it. I wish that I could help you, but my hands are tied." I noticed Principal Lessa, walking over to us as she stated "Mine aren't, and as much as I didn't approve of this little stunt that you two pulled, I will not go down in history as the principal who kicked Julie Molina out of the music program." I smiled and bumped Julie's shoulder with my own.
Julie let out a relieved chuckle while saying "Thank you!" Principal Lessa stuck up a finger "But... when you win your first Grammy, I wanna be thanked." Mrs. Harrison let out a small chuckle as Julie nodded her head "Definitely." Mrs. Harrison told her "thank you" and Principal Lessa turned around and walked away, Mrs. Harrison was quick to engulf the two of us in a hug.
"Congratulations!"
She stated, proud of both of us once she broke the hug she stated to Julie "Welcome back." Before walking off. I looked past Mrs. Harrison, only to see a confused Flynn. 'Ah, crap.' Julie was quick to hop off the stage and walk over to Flynn as I traveled close behind. "Wow. You did it." I could tell Flynn's angry switch has been flicked as Julie responded with "Thanks to you." She nodded her head in response, and I was slowly about to walk away, only for Julie to grab my arm to keep me there.
"Hey you okay?"
Julie asked Flynn only for Flynn to shake her head a little "Uh... I'm great." With a shrug of her shoulders, she pointed to the stage while asking "When did you two start playing with a hologram band?" Julie was quick to dismiss it "Oh, it was just one song." And I added onto her statement "We're not a band." Julie added on some more "They're a band, a hologram band. Definitely holograms." I shoved my hands in my pockets.
"Yeah I saw. Why have you two been keeping those cute boys a secret?"
"There's a reason for that." I stated, not wanting to make this a huge deal "The reason we didn't tell you is because they're-" Julie was quick to cut me off "From Sweden! They're from Sweden. Yeah. Turns out that they're not only great at making meatballs but also good at making music." I sent her a confused look, as did Flynn. Julie moved her arms around making gestures with her hands while explaining "They play there, We stream them here, we play together, they leave, then that's it." She clapped her hands together "Anyway, who's excited that I'm back in the music program?" Putting her arms out and then bringing them back for jazz hands.
Flynn narrowed her eyes at Julie "Jules are you Lying to me?" She looked over at me while asking "Is she lying to me?" I scrunched my nose up a bit as I was suddenly put on the spot "Uhh... well... um..." I said in a high pitched voice, looking everywhere but at Flynn. She scoffed and looked back at Julie, and she answered honestly.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm lying."
Flynn was now upset as she asked the both of us "Since when do we lie to each other?" Julie sighed "Flynn.... I'm sorry." She scoffed in response " 'I'm sorry'? That's all you've got?" Julie stayed silent as Flynn scoffed and ran out of the gym. Julie followed close behind.
"Wait! Flynn! Wait, no! Come... wait. Come on. Flynn!"
I sighed and went back on stage to grab my guitar. Sitting back down on the edge of the stage, strumming my guitar. I hummed to myself as the bell was soon to ring. I stood up on the stage and went to walk off while playing my guitar only for the boys to appear in front of me, causing me to bump into Reggie's chest.
I was quick to step back, feeling a blush make its way to my cheeks. Looking around, I noticed the gym empty, so I turned back to talk to the guys. "Aren't you guys supposed to be bothering Jules?" I walked passed them, only for the three of them to follow. "Well, Julie's in class and we were hoping to get some answers from you." Luke stated.
I rolled my eyes while moving my guitar to sit on my back. "Listen, I'm just as lost as you guys. There is only one other ghost who can actually be seen by people, and I wouldn't like to go to him for answers." I traveled down the steps and off the stage, only for the three of them to appear in front of me again, causing me to stop.
"Please (Y/n), there's gotta be something you can give us."
Alex asked, practically begging me, I looked between the three of them before letting out an annoyed sigh. "There is one thing I could probably do, but it's in my room. Lucky for you, I was planning on ditching anyway." Reggie sent me a wide smile while responding with "Awesome. We'll meet you there!" I glared at him "Reggie stay out of-" before I could even finish the sentence, he put his arms around his friends shoulders and the three of them disappeared.
"-my room."
I let out a long exasperated sigh before marching off through the gym doors.
'If they touch anything I'll make sure they die a second time.'

Once I got home I parked my truck and hopped out, only to see Reggie leaning back in the chair on the porch, feet up on the railing as he strummed his bass. I walked up the porch causing Reggie to take his feet off the railing once he noticed me, a smile making its way to his lips, he stood up and put his bass on his back. "Hey (Y/n)!" I walked past him, to unlock the door, but didn't respond to him.
The scene from earlier still playing in my head, causing my stomach to churn. 'I shouldn't be acting like this. Hell, I shouldn't be feeling like this.' Reggie leaned against the wall by the door  his brows furrowed in confusion as he tried again to get me to talk to him.
"Hey, you okay?"
I let out a sigh before pushing everything that happened, to the back of my head, as to not think about it. Looking over at him I sent him a small smile "Yeah I'm fine." He only gave me an unconvinced look in response.
Opening his mouth to say something, only for Luke to appear behind him "Hey is she-" cutting himself off when he saw me, he put a hand on Reggie's shoulder. Reggie looked back at him a bit angry for interrupting, only for his mood to change completely as he sent Luke a smile. "Great. She's here. Listen (Y/n), Alex kind of ran off." Reggie nodded in agreement before turning his head back to look at me.
"Yeah, he was all stressed and poofed away."
I shrugged in response while opening the door to my house. The two boys behind me followed as I walked inside, not wanting the door to close shut on their faces (even though they could walk right through it). Tossing my bag to the side, I looked from the dinning room to the right of us, to the stairs in front of us, and lastly my eyes drifted to the empty living room to the left of us.
"Home, sweet home."
I mumbled as Luke walked passed the two of us in aw. "Woah...." he stated as he looked around the giant place that is my house. Going over to the couch with a giant smile he continued "This place is huge!" Throwing his arms up in emphasis, he flopped back across the couch. Reggie nodded his head in agreement, while shoving his hands in his pants pockets. "Yeah (N/N), What are your parents, rich?" he followed Luke into the living room, eyes glued to the giant TV.
I shrugged before making my way towards the stairs in front of me "Don't call me that. And yeah, I guess you could say that. But it doesn't matter anyway." I started climbing up the steps to my room. As soon as I stepped up onto the last step, they appeared in front of me, causing me to jump a bit and lean back. I would've fell down the stairs, if it wasn't the quick hand that grabbed my arm, pulling me into his chest.
I leaned back, only to notice the white shirt, beaded necklace, and red and black flannel which belonged to none other than boy I was trying not to focus on. Reggie's hands rested on my biceps to keep me steady, I slowly looked up only for my (e/c) eyes to come in contact with a pair of concerned green ones. "You okay?" he asked, almost to quietly for me to even hear him, I felt heat travel to my cheeks, as I quickly stepped out of his hold sending him a nod of my head.
"Yeah. Fine."
I walked off towards my bedroom door while saying "Stay there." The guys surprisingly listened and didn't follow me into my room. Shutting the door behind me, I leaned my back against it, letting out a small sigh, I stayed there for a few seconds trying to recollect my thoughts and calm myself down from what happened just a few seconds earlier. 'Damn it, (Y/n).' I thought 'Get it together. You just met the guy. Sure, he's cute but I'm not letting him get to me. He's just a dumb flirt.' Lightly shaking my head, I huffed in annoyance, bringing my thoughts to focus on the task at hand.
'The book. I need the book and the box.'
My gaze shifted from the ceiling, to the closet almost directly in the middle of my room. Pushing myself off the door, I slowly made my way to the closet, not wanting to even touch that book. But I needed answers, and I certainly was not about to go to him for help. I wasn't going to let those boys get sucked into things with a man who is more of a demon than a ghost. I slowly slid open both doors to my closet, my eyes staring at the stacks of shoe boxes on the floor, I sat down on my knees, parting the stacks in front of me, only to reveal a secret compartment in the wall hidden behind the stacks of shoe boxes.
A rigid sigh left my lips as I stared at the compartment, an emotional pain sitting in my chest, one I haven't felt in a long time. 'I haven't touched this stuff since..' I cut off my own thoughts before they got to far. I didn't want to think about them. But it was all I could think about whenever I even dared to come near the book. I couldn't help the scared feeling that ran through me as I slowly reached out to open the medium sized compartment.
I froze my hand as the fear took over for a quick second, my hands only a couple of centimeters away from the door-like compartment, but I shook my head a little 'No. I gotta help the guys. Julie will probably be wanting an answer as well.' opening the compartment, I noticed some old candles, some halfway burnt through, others almost gone. Taking out the candles I put them off to the side, before slowly reaching out to grab the two books off of the medium sized box, hearing their screams in my ears, I closed my eyes in response, clenching my fist as the heavy pain in my chest grew.
Unclenching my fists, I opened my eyes, and quickly grabbed the books before I could give myself anymore time to think about it. Looking at the two books in front of me, one black with a purple pentagram on it, my book of spells, the other was an old brown book, seeming to have been around for centuries, the warn out parchment held facts about every ghost my family has ever encountered in it. Much like a diary, whenever someone was handed this book in my family, they would write down every experience with a ghost they had, whether it be good or bad. But only the ones with "The Gift" (as my grandmother calls it) get these books and the box.
If you couldn't tell, "The Gift" is basically being able to see and touch ghosts. It was a tradition for the older witch to teach the new one, and when they were ready, the older one would pass down the torch. My grandmother taught me for a couple of years before she passed, I ended up getting her witch stuff in the will. My parents thought both of us were crazy, so I ended up hiding the stuff from them in the hidden compartment. When I was practicing with my grandmother I understood everything, and was a great witch, but as soon as she was gone, I felt lost. Every spell I tried to cast to help someone back fired, I couldn't do a simple spell, I couldn't help ghosts, I felt useless.
Pushing up my sleeves a little, revealing the dark purple stamp on the inside of my right arm. "Alright.." I mumbled while pulling the old brown book towards me "Let's see if there's anything in here." opening up the book, I skimmed over each page carefully, as to not miss anything. About three pages in, I heard a soft smooth voice next to my ear.
"You find anything?"
I jumped in surprise before rolling my sleeves down and slamming the book closed. Turning my head only to come face to face with Reggie who was currently leaning over my shoulder looking down at the books in front of me. I stared at the side of his face, which was only a couple of inches away from mine, feeling my heart beating out of my chest. 'Come on (Y/n). Get it together.' I thought as I cleared my throat, turning my head to look back down at the books in front of me.
"No..."
Shaking my head I continued "No, I haven't found anything." Luke appeared on the other side of me, sitting crisscross "Woah, what's all this?" He tried to grab the black and purple book, only for his hand to go right through it. Huffing in slight annoyance I stood up abruptly, taking Reggie and Luke both by surprise. Reggie stumbled back, wide eyed, but was quick to catch himself as Luke jumped at my sudden movement.
I turned around with my arms crossed a crossed my chest, an annoyed look on my face. Luke stood up, noticing the annoyed look on my face, and quickly went over to stand beside Reggie. I glared at the two of them while asking "Do either of you ever listen to anything anyone says?" Luke threw an arm over Reggie's shoulders wearing a confident smirk "Never." Rolling my eyes in annoyance from Luke's response, I turned back around and kneeled down in front of the books.
"Can we help?"
Reggie's voice could be heard from behind me, as I opened back up the brown ghost book. "You guys are ghosts." Flipping through the pages to get to the spot I was before, finishing with "So you guys won't be much help." I skimmed through the rest of the third page before flipping it. It went silent for a couple of seconds as I dragged my finger underneath each word on the fourth page, skimming over to see if I could find anything about other people seeing the ghosts.
I heard someone sit down to the left of me, I paused looking out of the corner of my eyes, only to see Reggie sitting to the left of me in a crisscross fashion. Bringing my eyes back to the book in front of me he spoke "So, are you a witch?" I didn't look at him as I continued to skim through the pages of the book. "What makes you think that?" I asked, still not taking my eyes away from my book.
"Well, the fact that you have a black book with a pentagram on it, is very witchy, don't you think?"
I took a quick glance at Reggie, only to see him reaching over to grab the black book. This caused me to widen my eyes and quickly slap his hand. I grabbed the book and put it back on top of the box in the wall compartment. I responded, while going back to looking through the brown book "Yeah, well, I don't do that stuff anymore." I flipped the page, practically feeling Reggie's eyes on me as he asked "Why not?" I looked over at Reggie, only for his green hues to be starring curiously back at mine.
His head was tilted a little, causing some strands of hair to flop over to the side, mouth slightly agape as he took in small breaths of air. Eyes full of curiosity, as he tried his hardest to get to know me even more. Reggie's face easily reminded me of a puppies. The way his head tilted, his mouth slightly agape, but overall curiosity shinning through. As if a puppy was looking at me, not knowing what I was saying but interested anyway, because it loves the attention.
'Cute.'
I thought as I stared at him for a couple of seconds, the couple strands of hair grabbing my attention 'I wonder how it would feel to run my fingers through it...' feeling another blush coat my cheeks from just that thought alone, I tore my eyes away from him. Clearing my throat I looked back down at the book in front of me. Leaning on my hands I glared at the book in front of me, angry at myself, as I responded "Because I just don't." It was silent between us for a couple of seconds.
"Hey (Y/n)?"
Reggie and I both turned to look back near my bed, only to see Luke sitting on it while looking at the picture on my nightstand. "Are these your parents?" Pointing at the picture I held most dear. I nodded my head before turning back to look at the book in front of me. "Yeah, those are my parents." I heard a shuffling noise beside me, only to look over and see Reggie making his way towards the picture.
I watched him as he stopped in front of my bedside table, kneeling down to get a good look at the picture from when I was 8. I suddenly felt a bit self conscious of the picture, closing the book in front of me, I stood up and started to walk over. "Where are they, anyway?" Reggie asked, his gaze still fixated on the picture, as if trying to memorize every little detail.
I quickly snatched the picture off of my nightstand, grabbing both Reggies and Lukes attention, as their eyes now stared at me. "New York." The lie came out of my mouth so naturally at this point, having already said it over 100 times. I've said it so much, that you'd think I'd actually start believing it, that they are both just in New York on a business trip. But I know the truth. Having witnessed it all first hand.
Luke and Reggie looked at each other for a few seconds, as if having a silent conversation of there own. "What are they doing there?" Luke asked, I shrugged in response while walking over to my bureau. "They are on a business trip" I placed the picture gently on my bureau, eyes fixated on it, as thoughts swarmed my head.
'Just keep lying. The only person who needs your baggage is yourself. Don't be a burden.'
Reggie's voice dragged me out of my thoughts "Do they both work for the same company?" I closed my eyes and shook my head a little to bring myself back to the present conversation. Turning back around, only to see Reggie now sitting on my bed, I leaned back on my hands, which sat on top of the bureau "I guess you could say that." I looked over at Reggie, only to see him already staring back at me, brows furrowed seeming unconvinced.
Luke cleared his throat and was quick to change the subject "Well..." Reggie and I's attention was now on Luke, he got off my bed "We, were thinking..." moving his thumb to point at both him and Reggie while stepping in front of me. Reggie got off the bed and walked over next to Luke as he continued "You should join Sunset Curve!" The two of them held giant smiles on there faces, and I let the sentence sink in for a couple of seconds, before letting out a small huff in amusement.
"Yeah, no. I don't do bands."
Reggie rolled his eyes a little taking a few steps forward "Oh come on (Y/n), can't you make an exception?" He brought his hands together and interlocked his fingers, bringing his hands up underneath his chin as to exaggerate his plea. Reggie stuck his bottom lip out in a small pout, his emerald green eyes seeming to grow bigger, as to sway my decision. I let out a small laugh before shaking my head feeling a blush coat my cheeks from how cute Reggie was being "No. I already said I don't do bands." Luke shrugged while throwing his hands in his pockets.
Stepping up next to Reggie he stated "What if we got Julie to join, then will you join too?" I crossed my arm and raised a brow, I was about to respond, only for Luke to cut me off as he continued with "Pretty please?" The two of them now looked at me with the same face with their hands together and fingers interlocked.
I let out a long sigh before rolling my eyes in annoyance "If I say yes, will you two drop it and leave me alone?" The two of them smiled and high fived while saying "Yes!" Reggie's attention was quick to move on to me, pointing at me with his index finger. "But. I will definitely not leave you alone. You're gonna be seeing more of me around here." Reggie sent me a wink at the end of his sentence, a wide smile sat on his face, causing one of my hands to fly up to my mouth as I let out a small giggle in response.
Taking my hand away from my face, I stated "Okay, but make sure to knock. Oh, and don't touch things that are off limits" I stuck out my hand for him to shake and he was quick to take my hand in his own, holding it tightly, while shaking my hand eagerly. "Deal. But, what is the stuff that's off limits?" I let out a small chuckle before shaking my head and pulling my hand back, Reggie seemed to frown at the loss of contact but was quick to bring back his smile.
"You'll figure it out."
Reggie nodded his head, only for Luke to clear his throat. "Well.." Luke stepped up behind Reggie, putting his hands on his shoulders. "As cute as this whole interaction was, Reggie and I are gonna head back over to Julie's." Luke pulled Reggie back, causing him to stumble a bit backwards as Reggie stared at me. I went back over to the two books in front of my open closet and sat down in front of them.
Luke started to drag him out the door before Reggie stopped "Wait!" I looked over towards the two boys in the doorway, only for my (e/c) eyes to come in contact with a pair of forest green ones. "Would you like to come with us?" Reggie asked hopefully, I sent him a small smile, along with a shake of my head. "I would love to, but I can't. Julie's dad thinks I'm at school right now, so I'd rather not ruin my chances of skipping." Reggie nodded his head "Gotcha" he stated as Luke dragged him back out.
"Come on."
Luke stated as a giggle of amusement left my lips, causing me to shake my head, amused at Reggie's behavior. I turned my head back around to look down at the open brown book in front of me. 'Okay (Y/n)...' I thought as I flipped to the next page, and started skimming over it.

existence. {alex x willie}
All Willie wanted was for the night to take away all his thoughts, any whisper of the blond drummer he'd once crashed into. Unfortunately for him, his subconscious had other ideas.
also posted on ao3 if you want to read it there
The subconscious works in mysterious ways. Willie just wanted some space, wanted to skate away and ignore all his emotions, ignore how he was trapped here and Alex was passing over, ignore how much he didn’t want to lose him, even though it was definitely the best option he had. But his brain was always thinking of Alex, no matter how hard he tried to put him out of his mind. Which is probably how he ended up in front of the museum.
It was almost midnight, so the museum was closed and empty. Like it had been when he’d brought Alex. Before, when it had just been the two of them without a care in the world. Before he ruined everything by taking them to Caleb. Before he’d effectively ruined the (after) life of the most wonderful person, and his best friends. He never should have taken them to the Hollywood Ghost Club, but they’d wanted a way to be visible, and he had wanted to do everything to help Alex that he hadn’t even considered that Caleb would stamp them as he had him.
He stood in front of the building for what felt like an age, before taking a big breath and stepping inside. He made his way to the bench where he and Alex had shouted all of their worries away. Somehow, in such a short period of time, he had wormed his way into Willie’s life and heart.
He had played the Orpheum tonight – they all had. Opening for Panic! At the Disco, no less. Willie would have given anything to see them play, to see Alex in his element, but it was too dangerous. He couldn’t risk Caleb finding him watching. He had pretty much forbidden him from seeing them until they joined him. And watching their concert would have been the worst place to be caught.
They were getting their unfinished business, actually finishing it. He was so happy for them, of course he was, but it left a gaping hole in him that hadn’t been there a couple weeks ago. Part of it was that he would never complete his unfinished business. He didn’t even know what it was, but even if he did, there was no way Caleb was going to let him cross over. That was not a part of their bargain. His soul was Caleb’s, and there was no unfinished business that could be completed quick enough to do before he noticed. But the other part, the bigger part of the emptiness, was because of Alex. Willie knew that. He had never met someone who he clicked with that quickly. Someone who just wanted to spend time with him, whatever they were doing. That must be why the thought of him crossing over was so upsetting.
Or there was the other explanation. He had never really, truly been in love before, but he imagined that this was what he was feeling. May as well admit it to himself, since there was no one else to admit it to. He would never get the chance to tell Alex, but he could at least be honest with himself. He had fallen in love with him. The cute drummer who had died from a bad hotdog. The boy who’s mind raced a hundred miles a minute, with every question known to man. The ghost Willie would have followed anywhere, if he was able. He missed his smile, the way it felt holding his hand, the feeling of his arms wrapped around him. Would they have had more embraces like that? What would it have felt like to have his lips on his?
This line of thought was dangerous. He was never going to get a chance to find out, so there was no point in dwelling on the unknowns. But his head was filled with images of the blond, so he may as well indulge in fantasies.
Spending the nights running around Hollywood. Teaching Alex to skate. Introducing him to Justin Bieber and his empty pool, perfect for skateboarding in. Watching Alex rehearse and perform. Asking him to be his boyfriend.
His face felt hot, his nose stuffy. Without realising it, he had started crying. He stared numbly as a few stray tears dropped into his lap. Head placed in his hands, body bent forwards, he let the emotions overcome him.
-
They were free. Julie had saved them. Alex had absolutely no clue how that worked, but for right now he wasn’t going to question it. He was allowing himself that luxury. They had escaped a painful removal from existence, so he deserved it. And they had played the Orpheum. They had finally played the Orpheum and lived to tell the tale. Well, not exactly lived, and there wasn’t really anyone to tell the tale to, exactly, but you’ve got to count your wins somewhere.
Actually, there was one person he wanted to tell the tale to.
The three ghosts and Julie had been cuddling on the couch in the studio, none of them willing to give up the blessing that was the ability to touch Julie. Which is why, when Alex stood up and extracted himself suddenly, the other three looked at him curiously.
“I have to go find Willie. He thinks we’ve crossed over.”
Luke and Reggie glanced at each other, grinning widely, but it was Julie’s soft smile and answering “Go get him, tiger,” that emboldened him even more. He poofed out of the studio to the place where he and Willie had first collided, not quite sure where to begin looking for him.
The street was a bad idea. There were still a lot of people around, and if Willie was here he wouldn’t be easy to find. Alex started jogging down to the bench where they had first chatted, when streams of afterlife questions had been flowing from his mouth, as if someone had turned the tap on and forgotten to turn it off.
The bench was empty.
Alex stared at it for a long moment, almost trying to make Willie appear by imagining him there, but he didn’t appear. With one last glance around, Alex set off in the direction of the only other place that held meaning to the two of them; if he wasn’t there, then it would be a long night searching.
The lights were off in the museum, but for once that didn’t deter him. He only cared about seeing if Willie was in here. What if he was? Would he be happy that they hadn’t crossed? That they were free of Caleb’s mark? What if he wasn’t? Why was he suddenly overthinking this?
All of his worries slipped his mind as he entered the next room, seeing another person hunched over on the bench he and Willie had moved. Not just any other person. It was Willie.
A gut-wrenching sob echoed through the empty room. Alex stopped still. Willie was crying. This wasn’t how he had expected to find him. He stepped forward slowly, lightly, until he was stood directly in front of him. His eyes must have been tightly shut, for though his hair covered his face, he didn’t look up and see Alex. He hadn’t registered that he was no longer alone.
“Willie?"
-
Willie had been sat on the bench for about five minutes, overcome with emotion. Tears streaming down his face, sobs coming out in full force. He hadn’t been this upset since, well, dying. He was so overwhelmed that he didn’t realise he wasn’t alone until someone spoke his name.
“Willie?”
He slowly unfolded his body and glanced up, into the worried eyes of one cute, blond drummer.
“Alex?” He whispered, afraid that speaking too loud would shatter the illusion that his mind had surely conjured. “Are you okay? What’s wrong?” “Am I okay? What about you? Shouldn’t you have crossed over by now?” Willie stood up gradually, careful not to make any sudden movements. “Are you even really here?” He murmured.
“Oh,” Alex breathed, with a knowing expression on his face. “Yes, I’m really here. Come here.” He wrapped his arms around Willie, and for a moment, Willie didn’t care if it was his imagination. His arms snaked around Alex’s torso and squeezed so tightly that Alex wouldn’t have been able to breathe, if he’d actually needed to.
“The Orpheum wasn’t our unfinished business.” Alex spoke softly, so as to not spook Willie further, as it was evident that the skater had been going through something. “And I don’t really understand it, but after the show, when Julie came to see if we’d passed over, she was able to hug us. And then Caleb’s mark lifted. I don’t know how, and right now I’m not questioning it. I just, I needed to find you and tell you.”
Willie held on even tighter, ever conscious that his tears were falling onto Alex’s shoulder. “I, uh, I thought I’d lost you forever. That I was never going to see you again. And I hated it.” “I’m right here. I’m right here, I promise.” Alex kissed the top of Willie’s forehead, and Willie fell even more in love with him right then.
Willie drew back, just enough to look at Alex. He hadn’t noticed properly when he first saw him, but he looked handsomely dishevelled, in a light pink blazer and a white shirt which was unbuttoned to about halfway down his torso. His hair was messy and in his face, and Willie was convinced he had never seen anyone quite as beautiful as him. He shifted his gaze to Alex’s eyes, which were still glistening with concern for him, another thing Willie loved about him. They hadn’t crossed over, they had almost blinked out of existence, and Alex was worried about him. He didn’t deserve him, but he was going to make sure he cherished him. Taking a deep breath, he started, “I have something to say.” Alex nodded for him to continue.
“The thought of losing you was the worst thing I could have imagined. It felt like there was an ache in my soul, that nothing else could have soothed. So I need you to know, Alex, that I am so deeply in love with you.”
Alex stared at him, eyes searching his face for clues as to whether he was genuine. Apparently finding an answer, he stuttered, “I, uh, I..” then searched his face again, and pulled his face towards his own.
When their lips met, all worries of Alex not returning his deep sentiments left his brain. His lips were as soft as he’d imagined, and though he had been pulled forward with some urgency, their kiss was sweet and tender. Alex’s hands cupped his face, gently, and Willie’s hand had moved to grip the back of his head. Alex was the first to pull back, resting his forehead against Willie’s, and whispered delicately “I love you too.” And Willie was not to be held accountable for pulling Alex back to his lips.
After they broke apart again, Alex wiped the tears off of Willie’s face, and Willie noted that he was wearing a dopey smile that he was sure was mirrored on his face.
Willie gave Alex a full glance once over, noting how good he looking in the 3 piece. A small smirk returned to Willie’s face, as he exclaimed, “You clean up good, hot dog. But you didn’t need to get all dressed up to come and find me.”
Alex blushed bright pink, as he seemingly stumbled for words. Willie’s favourite version of Alex was flustered Alex. He laughed, loud and heartily, all the sadness of the night forgotten. Alex looked exasperated, but also glanced at him adoringly as he continued to laugh. Soon enough, Alex was laughing too, Willie’s amusement too cute to ignore. There was a lot that needed sorting, Caleb’s control of himself, how they had managed to break free of his mark, but all that could wait. They could figure it out together, but for tonight, they would just forget about all their worries and exist together.

Willex - Love and Monsters AU [moodboard]
[contain major spoilers for the movie below the cut]
Alex and Willie had been friends for a while but were just starting to get their shit together - relationship wise - when the world fell apart.
Nick was the kid eaten by his goldfish (sorry, Nick :/)
After Alex parents died, some people grabbed him and took him with them away from the monsters.
Luke and Reggie ended up in the same colony as Alex.
Cut to seven years later
Alex, Reggie and Luke became best friends.
Out of the three of them, Luke is the only one allowed to go on supply runs (and only after being reminded a thousand times that he can't just start singing whenever he feels like it once they're on the surface). Reggie doesn't have the heart to kill the monsters, he says they're all misunderstood. Alex either panics or freezes, there's no in between.
It took a while, but Alex found Willie's colony on the radio and they've kept in touch ever since.
Reggie likes to draw the monsters and writes down every little detail the search parties are willing to tell him about them.
Emily and Mitch Patterson are also in the colony, as well as Ray.
Ray got separated from the rest of his family and believes them to be dead.
He kind of, unofficially, adopts Reggie and Alex.
Carrie and Flynn are at the colony too. Carrie and Flynn make a badass team at killing monsters.
After the breach in the colony and a cut off radio call with Willie, Alex decides that he can't just sit around anymore, always worrying about Willie and letting his anxiety get the best of him. He decides to ignore his complete panic at even the thought of going outside and go find him.
Luke and Reggie immediately volunteer to go with him.
Luke's parents don't want him to go, they fight. Luke goes anyway.
They find Bobby on their first day out, and he saves them from a giant frog.
Bobby is touch and company starved, having spent the most part of seven years on his own.
On their second day, Alex and Luke fall down a monster hole. While Bobby and Reggie try to figure out a way to get them out, they're saved by a girl and her little brother: Julie and Carlos.
The guys don't make the connection between this 'Julie and Carlos' to Ray's 'Julie and Carlos' because they're oblivious.
The Molina siblings agree to let them tag along, since they're not heading north yet. They teach them how to survive outside, how to kill monsters, how to hide, how to fight, how to avoid them; they tell them about their strengths and weaknesses, etc.
Julie and Carlos lost their mom when the monsters breached their colony at a subway station. They've been on their own since then, and are making their way to the mountains because the high ground and the cold helps keep the monsters away.
Juke fluff because I said so 💜
Reggie and Carlos get close too.
Eventually, they have to part ways. Julie and Carlos try to convince the guys to go with them to the mountains, but Alex won't leave Willie, and Reggie and Luke won't leave Alex.
Luke tells Julie he'll come find her sometime. She says it's a date and kisses him (because hey, they could all be dead tomorrow).
Julie gives Alex a grenade for an emergency.
They go their separate ways. Luke pouts :(
After fighting 'the Queen,' and blowing her up, Alex, Luke and Reggie are poisoned.
They fight and yell at Bobby, and Bobby goes off on his own :(
Willie finds them and nurses them back to health.
Willex kiss 💛
Willie's colony is going to the sea with a yacht Captain, Caleb, and his friends - Dante & Diego.
They're the bad guys, but shhhhh.
While they're celebrating after organizing their stuff to take to the yacht, Luke uses the radio to talk to his parents, but the call is cut off when another monster breaches their colony. He thinks his family might be dead/dying and decides to go back.
Then he notices the berries that Bobby told them not to eat. He tries to warn the others, but it's too late. They're all knocked out.
In the morning, Caleb reveals his evil plans and unleashes the mutated crab on them.
Willie and Alex go to stop Caleb and his crew.
Bobby comes back to help by freeing the rest of the colony (which are mostly older people).
Luke and Reggie fight the crab monster that Caleb had been shocking into submission, until Reggie tells him to stop because the monster looks so sad, (he remembers what Carlos told him: not all monsters are bad, "It's all in the eyes.").
He frees the monster from Caleb's jolts, and the crab eats Caleb and his crew.
Alex decides to stay with Willie to help him fix up the colony.
Luke, Bobby and Reggie go back to their old colony, and find their family still - mostly - alive.
Reggie uses the radio to send out the call about the monsters' weaknesses and strengths and how to fight them. Luke tells the people that it's time to take back their home and stop living in fear.
Epilogue
Luke reunites with Julie and, to everyone's surprise, reunites her and Carlos with their dad.
Julie, Flynn and Carrie immediately bond over their weapons and all around badassery.
Up at the mountains, in a safe place that becomes a meet up point to anyone who's still alive, Luke and Reggie reunite with Alex and Willie.
All is well... for the moment.
The end :)
