Something about the false twin story has been bugging me. Why does Delia hate the mews? At least, that's what appears to be the case from King's prospective. And if that isn't the case, what is the truth?

Oh its absolutely not the case but King and the Mews were children when it happened! Quite literally barely into their toddler years.

Mews are curious creatures in my world, naturally wanting to see and explore, hence why theyre able to use their abilities fast but struggle with the mental aspect in comparison to other psychics. With that in mind, they just piece things together slower and often times miscontrue things.

Delia didnt hate the mews- but she didnt love them like she does Ash and Indigo and eventually Peach. She adored the scientific research that would have come with them, what they could learn. But when they 'died' it ruined her entire life, literally.

The Mews were the catalyst for Delia regaining back her Humanity, they are the sole reason why she started to detest the Rocket's way of teaching.

The Mews didn't know this. They didnt underatand that she was punished because of them- they didnt understand that punishment was a bad thing and thus, didnt see the reason why Dekia treated the mews differently from the twos.

It grew to longing, wondering why she never treated them that way.

And then Delia blew up the building.

It wasn't seen as an act to run away- the Mews have only ever known that rocket base and the humans there- it was seen as an act of hatred. She hated them so much to leave them behind, but worked to save the Twos.

Delia almost killed them because she loved someone else.

That's what its seen like to the tiny little Mittens who have known nothing but the lab and the research building. They have never known pain up until that moment.

And the pure unadulterated rage in Delia's face and connected it to her hatred for them.

It really is just a miscommunication.

And it costed everyone dearly :)

In Walked Trouble by Dana Hawkins - Review

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the chance to read an ARC of In Walked Trouble.

In Walked Trouble is a delightful queer romance about two rival bartenders who, in the process of competing for the same bonus, fall in love.

This book was not without its dramatic elements, and it was unputdownable from the very first page. I was immediately drawn to Remi and her tragic past, and found myself wanting to know more. Hawkins was quite skilled at making Remi's trauma both grounded and believable, both in what it was and how to effected her.

Maya, Remi's love interest, was equally as compelling. She harboured a broken heart after the death of her father and was desperate to connect to him. As she and Remi grew closer, they began opening up to each other about these things, and it was genuinely healing to read these characters healing themselves.

I will say I found the third act breakup to be contrived and I absolutely detest miscommunication. All they needed to do was talk to each other! It felt a little unrealistic as I was reading it, but as the story went on and Remi's trauma came to the forefront, it became a little more understandable. However, it was the one part of the story I didn't enjoy.

There were a few odd mistakes in the text that I found jarring, but they didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

I strongly recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading about competent women falling in love. I will be seeking out the first book in the series to read Charlie's story.

Thus, I’ll be going with the last two songs I added to my Spotify/YouTube-Playlist! One is Serotonin by Tom Walker - my cousin sang it during karaoke night and I fell in love; and the other is Take the Journey from Honkai: Star Rail because that scene hit all the right tropes that I love!

Show I'm watching: None at the moment, so I’ll go with the current game instead, which is the Atelier Marie Remake! I’m a big fan of the Atelier series and while only have started yesterday evening, I’m already five hours in :D

Book I'm reading: Also none at the moment, as I’m not able to decide on which to read next. So, instead get the mangas/webtoons I’m currently reading! (It’s getting long ...)

Oshi no Ko - I followed the hype and am curious about the ending, but have a torn opinion on that one ...

Spy X Family - My big love, I can’t wait for the next update, I just love it.

Kindergarten Wars - It is just SO fun, seriously, I really like it! It’s about a bunch of assassins becoming kindergarteners!

Kill Blue - It’s still quite in the beginning and might start disappointing me soon. The premise is nice, though, it’s an assassin becoming a high schooler and having to find out how to get his old body back while living as a high schooler.

Mission: Yozakura Family - Are we starting to see a pattern here? Spies, assassins, yep, absolutely my jam! A shy high school student tasked with protecting the daughter of an ultimate spy family.

The Greatest Estate Developer - An isekai webtoon that I absolutely fell in love with. I really like how it plays with the trope and how the protagonist is so ... lovingly detestable :’D A modern architecture student gets reborn (?) as a lord’s son in a medieval fantasy world and begins developing his country with modern knowledge while employing very ... questionable methods.

Villain with a Crush - While I normally hate the miscommunication trope, this one is just pure comedy gold! A girl with superpowers falls in love with a superpower police officer. As she can’t quite control her power, she is mistakenly thought to be a villain and hunted by the police.

Currently obsessed with: Well, obviously The Magnus Archives with a sprinkle of The Mechanisms. It might turn to the Atelier game series soon, though, as I got myself a Steam Deck.

But TMA is having a special place in my heart because it’s the first fandom I’m actually writing fanfics for! I’ve only done fanarts until now for the other fandoms, but this is the first one I’m diving in deep with writing, so I think this obsession will stick around for a while!

Happy (belated) Storyteller Saturday! When you’re reading, which trope do you absolutely detest? Or is there a trope you like when executed well but hate when written badly? Which trope always finds its way into your writing?

Happy belated Storyteller Saturday! Thanks for the ask, Lexi!

A trope I absolutely detest is the miscommunication trope. It really grinds my gears, especially when the characters don't seem to act realistically. Sometimes it's like "why aren't you asking for more context and just leaving it there?" and I guess you could technically list it under "they're blinded by their assumptions of what the other person is already doing and therefore don't want to ask further" but honestly it always feels bad most of the time when I read it.

I think I would like any trope if they were written well honestly (even miscommunication). Like, I used to think that I hated reading tragedy. Cause you know, tragedy's sad. You get an unfulfilled ending. But recently I played a game that was a tragedy and now that game is my biggest hyperfixation and the tragedy is actually a good part about it. I can rationalize the tragedy. And it's funny because before then, sometimes when I thought about new plot ideas sometimes my brain would go "what if you then killed off the main character" or some other tragic event that made it so that the main character never reached their goal in the story. And I would sit there like "yeah that seems awesome to write but why do you keep wanting to write a tragedy? Why do you wanna write a tragedy so badly when you wouldn't even read one?" And now I think I do like tragedies, but only when they're written well. Only when they're written in correctly, and the rest of the story isn't depressing and dark and clearly shows a cynicism for general life. In fact the video game I'm talking about is all about the concept of hope and having hope, despite the tragedy that takes place.

Actually this game series also takes another trope I don't really like, time travel, and writes it in a way that I can appreciate it (which was extremely extremely confusing) but I really enjoyed it. Time travel doesn't bother me as much as miscommunication does, but I hate it when it's written wrong. I just really get and understand the writer for this game series, lol. Another trope that I don't like but would like if it was written correctly is love triangles. I think there's a way to write it correctly. I think most of the time it is not written correctly (and I'm mainly talking about one character faced with two options, not one character loves another who loves another who loves the first character) and that's why people dislike it so much (yet also consume it like crazy). I think there's a way to write a love triangle that doesn't feel like it's somehow cheating, or any of the unsavory things that this trope kind of feels like, which probably causes others to dislike it.

As for a trope that always finds its way into my writing. For some reason, ever since even my first romance story (that was extremely poorly written by 12 year old me) I've always tried to write "enemies to lovers" but ended up with "male love interest likes the female protagonist but the female protagonist is trying to hate the male love interest." Kind of like a Cardan-Jude (from The Cruel Prince) situation, except the male love interest is much warmer towards the female protagonist and sometimes isn't even trying to hide the fact that he likes her. This probably reveals something about me but we won't talk about that. I also tend to like to plot or think about a lot of Yin-Yang esque stories. Stories about the two characters in the romance being from opposite sides of two opposing magic systems, like light magic vs dark magic. I haven't even successfully written one but it was a trope that stuck up a lot when I was younger because I've always liked the idea of Yin-Yang and I really liked the idea of two people falling in love being from opposite sides yet they're so symmetrically different that they complement each other. Very beautiful in concept but extremely hard to execute in reality, especially when you're faced with trying to develop two magic systems and balancing them out.

Oop, one last one, I almost always write about my characters being related to animals in some way, whether that's them being animals, being half animal (like satyrs), being able to talk to or command animals, or having animal traits or being animal shifters. I love animals and it shows in my writing I think. Vast majority of what I write has some animal or animal traits in the characters or setting or magic system.

The thing is my heart says bad buddy but part of me says that’s to predictable and it just ended so maybe I’m just living in the high of that but I truly do feel like it is the best bl of all time, I mean it’s my new number 1 of all time and for good reason, everything about it is so good from the acting to the storyline to the pacing and characters to how they handle and approach problems and situation they just do it in a way no other bl is out here doing it like truly no bl can even hold a candle to bad buddy like there’s no competition it’s just truly no other bl even remotely similar and that’s real rarity

That one bl that scarred you for life

Ok not a series, but a movie and that would be A cornered mouse dreams of cheese if you’re looking to be in depressive episode for a couple of days this is the movie for you, it is a really good movie don’t get it twisted but for some reason it fucked me up, truly sad that I cannot watch it a second time or else I’d rewatch it in a heartbeat but my mental health can not take it

Is there any bl that made you feel very single

A lot of BLs of course but the one that comes to mind as of recently is bad buddy, like I distinctly remember just sitting there talking about some scene or something and just being like “wow I never felt more single than I do right now” whatever it was it hit me hard

If you could Change one thing from a BL which one would it be

The miscommunication of we best love, like cause if Shu Yi talked to Shi De when he showed up in America everything would have been cleared up there I mean there would still be the problem of Shu Yi’s dad telling Shi De to stay away from him So like theres still angst for the second season but then at least he wouldn’t have thought that Shi De just went to America abandoned him, got married and had a baby for five years straight You know? I just thought that was just so sad for Shu Yi

Waterboyy listen hear me out I watched this and it was one of my favorites for like a while, I watched it very early on in my bl journey and It was before I was actually “evolved” in the bl community of it all (meaning before seeing peoples opinions and valid points that I just didn’t think of) so I think that’s why I liked it so much like at that time i just really didn’t know what was good and what was bad I was but a wee bl watcher I remember after a while that I watched it and I was more evolved in the community and seeing what people thought about It I thought they were wild I thought they were crazy cause like I watched it and it was good, But then people were making some kind of like valid points and I was like hmm ok maybe there a lil bit right so therefore I think if I watched it today I would have completely different opinion thus I will never rewatch it cause it will taint the version in my head

1. your all time favorite bl and why

ITSAY 100%. It’s my all-time favorite everything. It just feels like there is not a single moment that is not impactful and thought through in it. Everything, the acting, the writing, the cinematography, the color scheme, the camera work (OH MY GOD I LOVE THE CAMERA WORK) was absolutely perfect. But if I had to say what I loved the most it would definitely be that weird physical energy. As the characters rolled around the ground, paced back and forth nervously, fondled near-by plants and each other’s faces, I thought to myself this is what people are actually like. ITSAY captured something very very real about teenage love in a way that I don’t think I have ever seen before.

2. that one bl that scarred you for life

Regardless of how it’s going to end, IPYTM has already scarred me for life. It’s bringing me all of the anxiety of ITSAY but absolutely none of the comfort and excitement. Somewhere along the line we lost the love that was present underneath everything that happened in ITSAY and I’m not convinced it’s worth suffering like this without it.

3. is there any bl that made you feel very single?

Really weirdly, Why R U. That rotten beach episode with no plot only fluff must have been the last time I really thought to myself maybe it would be nice to have something like that. It passed by very quickly though.

4. if you could change one thing from a bl, which one would it be?

Just one thing? Well, if that miscommunication plotline had not been laid out so stupidly in Fighting Mr. Second, I might have actually watched it. I loved We Best Love but that special between the seasons sucked all of the enjoyment I was feeling right out of me like a balloon.

5. that one bl you detest (don’t hold back)

Nothing enrages me quite like TharnType. Just the way Mame uses rape and non-con as romantic devices is incredibly disturbing in all the novels she’s written but with TharnType there’s truly nowhere to hide from it.

Where My Eyes Linger! The very first bl I watched and it will forever be one of my favorites. It’s dark and twisted in a way that I love. The only reason it’s not in my top 5 is because like all the Korean ones it’s so short.

Gaya Sa Pelikula please come and save me from the disappointing sequel syndrome. I desperately need to see the rest of Gege’s story.

Its really interesting how the stories I've heard about the Beatles are really different from the truth. I've heard that no one was as big an intellectual genius as John and Paul was a twat but in interviews and videos he seems lovely and John just a regular nice dude. Yoko is apparently a matyr who is unfairly hated but really she's awful. I learned in the last few months that I absolutely grew up in a family biased towards John and who believe the JohnandYoko story hook line and sinker.

I really hate it. It's all so skewered.

Paul is just hard to get close to he's incredibly private and will put boundaries down. John most likely would've hated being touted around as some big intellectual genius-- Cor like any famous person, or someone with genuine talent he had some ego but at the same time John literally thought he had no real talent and that anything he did wasn't good enough.

I hate the John vs. Paul narrative it needs to die. They were equals, incredibly talented and unstoppable when together. Soulmates.

I do think it was foolish for her to be blamed for basically breaking up the Beatles-- Yoko might've played some part in breaking up the Beatles(as did Linda, though in a less direct way), like many other little factors, but it was really John and Paul's fallout/divorce/miscommunication that did it. So it's incredibly stupid to dislike her because of that. There's much more valid reasons to dislike and not support her (who she is as a person, really) Cor I think she prefers being hated for the stupid, unoriginal reasons like 'broke up the beatles' and 'being a witch'(though she's a self proclaimed witch so idk) because it gives her martyrdom and victimhood.

Luckily I grew up with a mom who loved all the Beatles (though her favorite is George) and detests Yoko, and recognized what John and Yoko had was really toxic (she was a young adult in the 70s) so I'm pretty lucky, I guess. Unfortunately my brother believes a lot of the bullshit about the Beatles-- thinks Paul is a twat and full of himself, thinks John is a serial abuser and twat, can't remember exactly about George but my brother doesn't like him either-- and then claims Ringo was perfect and the only good Beatle (the fucking naivety) I've learned not to talk much Beatles stuff with him, especially since John is my favorite and Paul's second.

Of course you sort of have to take a lot of what is said about the Beatles with a grain of salt, basically pull out what's fact and what's merely speculation/personal opinion wedged in there in all the things you can get your hands on. And even with what the Beatles say themselves can't always be trusted!

Getting seriously involved in this band is, is a lot.

here’s my life update (cw parents fighting and suicide mention)

i like the holidays. like they can be stressful but i genuinely have always liked the gatherings and the rituals and all that stuff. i’m not a person who gets dragged down by the holiday season

my sister (the one that’s married) is pregnant. her due date was the 17th, so she’s expected to go into labor any time now. when she does, my parents (who have been as isolated as they can be) are going to drive up to san francisco to see her

i have been so extremely anxious. not because of the holidays, not because of the baby, but because my parents have been fighting. and when i say “my parents have been fighting” i mean my mom has been yelling like a wounded animal, or collapsing on the floor and hissing “i hate you! i hate you! i hate you!”

what provokes this behavior? much of the time, absolutely nothing! sometimes a simple misunderstanding or miscommunication. she has all these personal rituals that she detests and gets stressed about and yet cannot divorce herself from, and i think that the possibility that she’ll have to drop everything without any time to plan is exacerbating her normal ambient stress and depression

i feel so bad for my dad, who is essentially blameless in all this and just becomes her punching bag. when i witness her treating him like this my blood begins to boil and it’s all i can do to stop myself from joining in the yelling. when i’ve intervened in the past they BOTH got mad at me, i think in part because my dad doesn’t want someone else fighting his battles for him. oh, and my mom keeps threatening divorce or suicide, as if she’s the one being mistreated here

the only real solution is to leave. the last two times things got bad i was able to go out in my car and escape for a while, but obviously i need to move out. i’m unemployed, however, and i’m doubtful of my employment prospects outside minimum wage essential worker jobs, and i can’t put my parents at risk anyway.

so here i am. stuck in the middle of my parents’ dysfunctional marriage, old enough to understand what’s going on and yet apparently impressionable enough to feel like i’m constantly in fight or flight mode

SnK 118 and Armin's role in the future

I know I'm a lot late in addressing this but when the chapter first released I had my exams and didn't really have a lot of time in hand to write a meta. Anyway, now that I'm free, I'd like to spitball some ideas about this particular panel which raised a lot of questions in the fandom.

What was the significance of Isayama including this moment from Chapter 90 and what exactly was he foreshadowing? Well here's my stance on this :

• Events of Chapter 90 : Let's revisit Chapter 90 and take a look at Armin and Eren's reactions and their eventual interaction when they reach the ocean.

•Armin :

Contrasted to everyone else just having fun, we find Armin staring hard at something. When he sets foot in the water, he is shown looking at something intently - a conch shell. Now, it may as well be coincidence and I'm just being pedantic but, the conch shell is symbolic of other things. The conch shell stands for control, harmony and overall coordination among living things in Hinduism and Buddhism. Apparently, deities holding the conch or being sculpted in a manner that emphasizes the concentric rings found in a conch, symbolize their hold on civilization which maintains stability and peace. Thus, a conch stands for order and implies proper functioning of civilization.

Armin is a character well known for being rational, logical and most importantly for being the one who is always looking for a truce. He wants to "talk", he is more than capable of making the most inhumane decisions but he's always wanting to "talk" things out first. He's the one always seeking a diplomatic solution. Him coming across the conch doesn't seem to be a mere coincidence. Also, not to forget that Armin is the narrator of the show. It is possible that he will be the one to restore order in the chaotic world of SnK once again. He may be one of the key figures in ending the war, working for peace and order in it's aftermath and then he narrates the story to the future generation.

Anyway, going back to Armin and the conch, we see the scene getting plenty attention even in the anime. They cut out Hanji holding a slime but they assigned a lot of time to Armin holding the conch. It may after all have more significance than is visible on the surface.

• Eren : When Eren reaches the ocean, we see him depressed unlike the others. The whole mood is melancholy because of Eren's overruling depression. He has just seen his father's memories, the cruelty of the world has been shoved into his brain and the disturbing images keep resurfacing. We see that happening when he attempts to cheer up Armin. Eren cannot be happy again, he cannot be freed from those memories unless he does away with the cruelty- that much is clear to him. That's why we see him saying - " If we kill them all, does that mean we'll be free?"

The ocean,or preferably sea, is more than often used in literature to epitomise hardships in life and the unfathomable human emotions that make it so complex. Here, the sea represents chaos, uneasiness and sadness for Eren. The people who think of him and his race as enemies reside on the other side of these unfathomable waters. Eren is at a loss and he fails to fathom their barbaric ways. There's no understanding between him and his foes (there cannot be any). He sees them as an impediment to freedom and feels impelled to kill them.

• Eren and Armin : We see how Eren and Armin find it rather hard to communicate. Or better put, they're not thinking along the same lines. It is not really possible as Armin has no clue about the cumulative weight that has fallen on Eren. He cannot grasp the strain of it all. There's clear lack of any meaningful interaction between the two of them. Eren is not interested in sharing Armin's enthusiasm upon seeing the ocean of his dreams. His voice is awfully impassive. What particularly catches my attention is how Armin is holding onto the conch shell and calling out to Eren to look at it but he remains unbothered. He just points at the horizon and talks about the enemy. Their thoughts are totally different and there is little to no connection.

If the conch shell is indeed representing order, then we can say that Armin wants Eren to take a look at it but, Eren is thinking differently. He knows there cannot be any order as long as the world isn't even willing to see Eldians as humans. Eren has seen what happened to Faye because of Grisha's immaturity.

The price that Grisha had to pay for freedom was this- the horrifying death of Faye. The world is cruel. It isn't willing to give room for deliberation. For now, Eren needs to eliminate his enemies to move forward. That much is clear and we see that happening with the Attack on Liberio. Eren had to wage war because he had to protect his friends. He knew very well that if the whole world went ahead with the idea of eliminating Paradis, there wouldn't even be an opportunity to propose a truce. It would be over. Eren had to be an agent of chaos out of necessity. That's why in Chapter 90 we see him indifferent towards Armin as well as the conch Armin is asking him to take a look at.

• Back to 118 : There's similar lack of communication between Eren and his friends. He has done his absolute best in trying to cut them off. But, given how dire the situation is his friends must proceed to aid him. Armin, when trying to make sense of Eren's behaviour, recalls Eren's words and says "No way".

Most of us interpret that as Armin's realization that Eren is actually going to trample on the whole world and therefore, he doesn't want his friends to have any part in it. But, that's not gonna prevail. Eren is not about to abruptly wreck the whole world with his Rumbling. In the long run, it'll just make the world even more apprehensive of Eldians and they'll continue to be discriminated against. Nobody knows better than Eren that one cannot rule with fear and oppression. Also, he is the one who absolutely detests the idea of toying with human life as normalcy, no matter the situation. It's clear in this panel.

It is unlike Eren to cause destruction just to show superiority of a race; it violates his basic nature. Eren did account for civilian casualties in Liberio but that was inadvertent. If he hadn't intervened there, the whole of Paradis would have been wiped off because they were simply not ready to defend themselves. He had to buy time, he had to act before it was too late.

However, things are different now with Armin coming back into action. The miscommunication between him and Eren that has been an issue will be resolved by Armin. Maybe that's why he's holding the conch, which stands for order and harmony. Isayama's purpose in including the panel could be more than just highlighting Eren's words rather, it throws light on Armin as it is essentially him reviewing his past. He doesn't know what happened to Eren at Marley- how he became empathetic toward his sworn enemies- but he does know that Eren will not hesitate to kill them if they stand in his way of being free. However, Armin is not about to let the world plunge into outright chaos with the rumbling. To make a show that Eldians can actually flatten the whole world will make things worse than ever. He will come up with a better solution, a solution that won't put the future of Eldians at stake AGAIN. He must be the one to bridge the gap between Eldians and the world using his diplomatic skills. Armin is the only one capable of bringing an armistice. He still has a card to play.

Also, it's highly likely that the devil is the ultimate villain and Armin will have to come up with a plan to defeat him in the end. Of course, Eren has to be the ace of Armin's plan. That has always been and that's probably the reason why Isayama shows Armin thinking of Eren. Armin still has a greater role to perform and that will most probably be him advising Eren in his battle against the devil. The devil or in that case whoever is pulling the strings seems way too crafty for Eren to deal with on his own. So, Eren will definitely have to depend on Armin to come up with a fool proof strategy in the final battle to save humanity. This could have been foreshadowed as early as in the serum bowl where Eren tries to convince Levi by citing all of Armin's achievements. He implores that it's not Erwin or him but, Armin who's going to save the world.

Was he just bluffing to save his friend's life or did these words carry a subtle foreboding of the future? Let me also stress on Floch referring to Erwin as the devil out of nowhere in the same scene. We know, in the end, Armin survives and Erwin is made to rest. Is it mere coincidence that the one tagged to be the saviour prevails and the one referred to as the devil meets his end or is it another indication to the course the manga will take?

The last thing I want to talk about is Armin's dream. His dream is to see the whole world. It was never just about seeing the ocean. He wants to see the "lands made of ice", "snowy fields of sand", etc.

Who's more convenient to bring peace in the world than someone who actually wants to see all of it? If the world plunges into chaos again, Armin's dreams will never come true. If the world continues to shun the Eldians, then Armin can never fully see the world in all it's beauty. Therefore, he has to be the one to unite it. Armin will intercede into any plans of outright wiping out another race and make way for pacification. He'll be the one to do away with all the warfare and discrimination. That's his role in the future; after all there's no one more apt.

An unpopular opinion: I’m one of those obnoxious AJ fans who ignores AA5/6 and I’m not sorry. my canon OTP: Phoenix/Iris Non-canon OTP: All my ships for this series are canon most badass character: Gumshoe is more badass than he gets credit for. What makes me sad about them: I don’t think there was anything? things done in fanfic that annoys me: I haven’t read any yet, so I couldn’t say. things I look for in fanfic: I’d like fics where Bismuth is awkwardly trying to confess her feelings to Pearl. Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Bismuth/Peridot is great. I also used to be big into Pearlnet, but I’m really so much any more. They’re still fine though, so I guess that? My happily ever after for them: Bismuth takes like 4557 years to pluck up the courage to tell Pearl how she feels and even then, Pearl doesn’t get that she means that romantically for a while. So after a series of wacky miscommunications they eventually manage to confess, realise the feeling is mutual and get together. who is the big spoon/little spoon: Bismuth is the big spoon, Pearl is the little spoon. what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Roller-skating~ Clive Dove How I feel about this character: Clive’s great! I still love Clive even now and since I’ve got distance from the fandom, I don’t worry about saying so anymore. All the people I ship romantically with this character: Mostly just Layton. Maybe Dimitri a little bit, but I’m less into that. My non-romantic OTP for this character: Clive & Luke friendship. My unpopular opinion about this character: I mean Clive’s always been divisive, so it’s hard to say what’s an unpopular opinion when half the fandom detests him and the other half adores him. 1. Your all time favourite bl and why: I wrote an answer to this but after going through the rest of the quiz, I’m changing it. Definitely Bad Buddy. It has been absolutely revolutionary. They really said a big fuck you to all the usual tropes and what I love about it the most is that we saw Pat and Pran put so much effort into their relationship to make it work. They have the most beautiful relationship I’ve ever seen in BL. THE COMMUNICATION. I love that miscommunication was never used to drive drama. My previous answer was that I wasn’t sure between Bad Buddy and History 3: Trapped because Shao Fei almost feels like he was written for me. I love him so much. I also like that the BL is but isn’t the main plot. It makes it entertaining to rewatch. But yeah, Bad Buddy, definitely.

2. That one bl that scarred you for life: MODC 🙃

3. Is there any bl that made you feel very single: Bad Buddy for sure. I’ve never seen a couple so disgustingly in love.

4. If you could change one thing from a bl, which one would it be? Either the last episode of MODC or the 2gether high-five (although it looks like they may have fixed it in the sequels? They’ve been on my to watch list but I never got around to it. I literally quit it on the day the sequel started to air)

5. That one bl you detest (don’t hold back): Hate a lot of things about TharnType, so much I couldn’t keep watching it, but I don’t think I detest it? They’ve got such great chemistry that I kind of love bits of it. I loath the acting in Together With Me... I love MaxTul but I’ve never watched it because of this.

It’s close enough. Possibly too close, because when Mal sees her dripping wet from the rain and plastered in sheer white cloth, her brain blanks out and – for a moment – her instincts purr.

A FAILED VAMPIRE SEDUCTION WRITTEN FOR ME. polly here is lovely and maladict trying to figure out how the hell to make this work even more so. they love each other! they're very bad at it. i'm in love and the narrative voice in this is perfect, wry and funny and just very warm.

the thing i like most about this ot3 is the long sense of history they all have with each other, and this takes all that and makes it a story about the way they keep drifting toward each other until all of them fit. very fun, with dialogue so sharp it crackles, lovely to read.

Tommy's got a house full of rented furniture and a dog that chews anything that lets her. He gave away half his possessions before he moved and he feels lighter for it, cleaned out.

There’s space, here, for him to think maybe.

truly excellent voices, it is really impossible to overstate how much this feels like a real chat, incredibly fun to read all around.

I haven’t been able to see the episodes of Welcome yet but I saw photos and short clips on twitter and something stood out. It’s the fact that even though this show has one of the most ridiculous and nonsensical premises ever, it seems to be holding onto stereotypes and troupes that I am extremely tired of. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older or if my patience is just dying but I detest constantly being bombarded with these plot lines/character troupes.

First, Miscommunication. We got this one straight off the bat. It’s the entire reason that Jae Sun and Sol Ah started off this season at odds of sorts. I understand on one hand it was to generate a source of drama but the fact that it has dragged on this long without being properly discussed is INFURIATING. TALK TO EACH OTHER. PROPERLY. This extended miscommunication is not only breaking hearts, it is taking the great chemistry and potential that this couple has and setting it on fire. I don’t know if this is done for contrast effect to show how much better this cat guy is then him and how she should fall in love with a cat because obviously Jae Sun is the worst thing since the plague but I literally want to strangle all those involved with creating this ridiculous miscommunication conflict. And not saying that people would mould themselves based off of any character in this drama, but speaking for dramas as a whole it is almost enabling this behavior, especially in guys. To give the idea that to be a cooollll guy is to keep all your words to yourself and never talk things out IS STUPID AND KIND OF TOXIC. PROMOTE COMMUNICATION WON’T YOU?????? Show that it is something that may not come easy but working on communication will prove to be fruitful.

Second, Incessant second lead suffering. I am seeing this crop up over and over again in many a drama. Where the male lead is presented as a second coming angel and the second lead has some sad backstory that makes them all types of wrong for the female lead. And then other than a moment here and there to make the male lead jealous or establish why the second lead is.bad.for.her, they are absolutely sidelined. The rest of the plot develops and there is no screen time for the second lead. No time to let him grow, to let him be HAPPY. They just let him stew in being miserable the entire freaking season. And often these second leads aren’t bad people at all and often have more chemistry and potential with the female lead than the male lead does. But I am so sick of it to see a character be consistently broody and silent and miserable and never growing because it would take time away from the stereotypically happy couple. What is the point of having a second male lead character at all if this is how they are going to be treated?!!!! I don’t know how this became popular but it is really NOT ENJOYABLE to watch.

You see this with Welcome how a misunderstanding spiraled out of control. And instead of there being screen time to repair and resolve this, all of it is devoted to some questionable cat antics of Hong Jo. And then you rarely see Jae Sun and if you do he is never smiling. And I have a really bad feeling that they are not and will not even be giving his character a chance. So he is going to look sad and melancholy (and most likely get his heart broken at some point) the entire freaking season when HE DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER!!

And again, the plot of this drama makes not an ounce of sense so they could have really pushed the envelope but they didn’t. Just like with Extraordinary You, they just took the stereotypes that already existed and put them on steroids. And I can’t help but wonder how much the actor himself effects the storyline of the character. If this would be happening if someone far more plainer looming than Kim Myungsoo took the role of Hong Jo? Would they actually not shove this “romance” into the audience’s faces and repair and develop literally every other relationship??

I’m kind of like... it’s 2020.... can we eliminate these please?!!!!!
