Sorry if this is an inappropriate question to ask, but why do you want to rewrite pesterquest? Was there anything wrong with its original version, or are you just doing this for fun?

brain is a Lil Loopy rn so please excuse if this answer is semi incoherent - recovering from ankle surgery rn.

im gonna try to not harp on the original pesterquest as a project/talk about my percieved issues with it. from what I understand about the work environment where it was developed, it was hell -- poor communication, tiny budgets, little overall direction. plus every artist/writer involved was likely busy with other things at the same time (for example finishing the development of Hiveswap Act 2). they had so much going against them, and... it sorts shows in the final work, which isn't their fault. the original PQ team was passionate and cared and like. the absolutely last thing i want to do is disrespect them.

(generally also stating for the record that calling the original PQ "trash" or "replaced" is like. not good vibes. please don't do this if you're trying to enjoy PQR -- the last thing the original postcanon team needs is more harassment.)

anyway.

pqr is fanfiction, fundamentally.

i started making pqr because in september i was sick with covid, i wanted to learn renpy, and i wanted to study homestuck more. i wanted to figure out what made PQ tick, literally, figuratively, all of the above.

plus i really wanted to write a different story arc for mspar.

i also really love the side characters in Homestuck, and wish they all got more time to shine. the pqr prologue including a set of Spades Slick sprites just for a brief encounter i think helps establish what i want to do with the like. raw potential of the premise of a Homestuck visual novel.

damara is the other big thing -- i've wanted to make a story with her in it work for ages. (if anyone remembers the old MEGIDO hades mod, that was my first big public attempt. she was gonna be the protagonist, breaking out of scratch's mansion. turns out coding in renpy is WAY easier LMAO)

like. the plan wasn't even initially to have the prologue be a full damara route? i just let the writing take me where it wanted to take me. it's been deeply fun and cathartic.

the prologue's "bad end" has some incredibly intimate themes of like. inevitability, and worrying you've let everyone you love down, and i showed it to a college friend who i hadn't spoken to for ages and she set a screenshot from it as her background.

like. to me. that's pqr. that's why i make it.

pqr is the laundry room ending of rose's route, a deeply personal look into my own fears and anxieties as an author reflected back through this girl's circumstances. pqr is also the retcon ending of rose's route, a wildly stupid and indulgent romp through my own past fanfiction for a silly gag that people seemed to really love.

pqr is about dave and myself looking for a place to stay simultaneously -- pqr is about jade leaving prospit, and how i was adding to that part of the game in real-time as i dropped out of college, changing both of our destinies to something unexpected but hopefully better, at the same time.

pqr is also a silly extended sleepover scene. it's just fun to see them interact.

pqr is an excuse to turn over corners of homestuck and see if we can't peek behind them. what was it like for roxy, to think she lost joey and then find rose's meteor barely a year later? of course she'd think it's impossible for her to succeed as a mother. pqr is about finding empathy for yourself for your own mistakes, reflected back at you through homestuck characters.

because really, isn't that what we're all here for?

pqr is me coming back to my last long-abandoned attempt at an act 5 rewrite. pqr is an excuse to watch my girlfriend grow in confidence and style as she makes all the endcards and incidental art (except for joey route pt 2, but THAT was an excuse to work with a NEW friend!!!!!!!)

pqr is a friendship simulator that i am winning by having an incredibly supportive and collaborative group of friends in the dev thread who are cheering me on with every segment of text i post, friends who will hop in vc to check out the newest segment. friends like @dare0451 who literally yesterday rendered out some new audio to upgrade the June route to be even more fucking amazing and terrifying than it already was, AND DARE HASN'T EVEN PLAYED IT????? IT'S LITERALLY JUST. IT'S FRIENDSHIP MAN. PQR IS FRIENDSHIP

Person who sent the Vriska ableism ask. I am currently rereading and at least up through act 5 Vriska is the only one to be Horrifically ableist to Tavros. Alot of the troll characters *are* ableist but they're not vicious about it in the way she is, she actively seeks out excuses to call him useless and better off dead and like. While other characters do make ableist remarks about them they're both significantly toned down and also not usually to his face. I'm saying this as a disabled person- Vriska is ableist to Tavros beyond what we see as "normal" on Alternia. (This isn't me trying to accuse you of downplaying it btw. I wouldn't remember exactly how bad she was if I wasn't rereading rn and also hyperaware of it as a wheelchair user)

(CONT.) The actual reason Vriska's ableism bothers me so much is partially bc I read with the directors commentary mod that lets me see what Hussie wrote for the books and Hussie repeatedly agrees with alot of the horrific shit Vriska says about Tavros so like. When people try to defend Vriska saying that shit it feels in a roundabout way like trying to defang REAL OPINIONS Hussie has about one of their only canonically disabled characters

if it makes you feel at all better, i don't think you can trust literally anything hussie says to actually be their 'real' opinion on anything ever (motherfucker thinks they're the dave strider of real life), but it seriously doesn't excuse any of that shit regardless, just because it's uncomfortable and terrible to have to watch, hear, or sit through.

i distinctly remember being incredibly uncomfortable whenever vriska was talking with or interacting with tavros, so i don't think you're wrong for saying that (it must be exceptionally worse for you, actually). also, as someone who often likes to take a dive into older fandom history-- i think you're completely right that the people who say that shit are trying to defang that stuff. worse, actually, i think they don't see what's wrong with it; there were a LOT of fucked up memes and posts and in-jokes that went around back in the day that people thought were fine just because they were 'funny'. like "oh no i'm not making fun of disability, i'm making fun of tavros, which is fine because he's a joke character in a webcomic", and then they refuse to unpack in their brains what that could possibly mean.

not that i'm saying older fandom was intentionally malicious, i'm well aware that 2012 was a different time in which rigorous self-examination and outspoken empathy wasn't as popular as it is now, and that sometimes when memes get really big people don't think about the message being sent behind them; but i also don't think it can really be excused with "oh it was 2012 and people made jokes like that". like, no, people (mostly hussie) can be aware of the sort of thing they're putting out into the world. it's not anything except deeply uncomfortable to write a series-wide extended joke about how a disabled character is useless/worthless and deserves abuse.

i guess basically what i'm saying (to people far in the past who probably already know this now, not to you, anon) is: critical media consumption, people. learn it.

you need to be able to examine the things you're reading/watching to see what it's saying to you, and what sort of things it's making you think or be comfortable with, what sort of person it's helping you become.

How the Homestuck kids would play Omori

Egbert: Gets bored, says it's a kids game based on the graphics. Rose and Jade pester them to finish the game. When they actually finish it, they learn to play final duet and make Rose join them. Dresses Casey up as Aubrey.

Rose: This game was made for her, between the psychology and the horror elements. She has played both routes and has made it her mission to get through every room in Black Space. Posts an unholy amount of fanfiction about Tako, Meido, and Uni, even though everyone else has no idea who they are. She develops a crush on Abbi, which she vehemently denies.

Dave: Claims to enjoy it ironically. Makes those vine compilations with too many references to the oyasumi ending and the incident. It's an excuse to make more stairs memes. Is a fan of Kel for normal reasons. Rose is the only one who knows he bawled his eyes out at the good ending.

Jade: Basil apologist. Headspace friends afficianado. Got the good end on the first try because she absolutely took care of the garden and completed every side quest. She is helping Rose complete her mission. The two of them pester each other about the game for months. Jade writes all fluff while Rose writes a bunch of angst.

Jane: Gets really into the mystery elements. Owns a bunch of merch. Heromari stan. She listens to the soundtrack a lot, especially the Orange Oasis section. She made an orange and coffee flavored cake and somehow managed to make it taste good.

Jake: Gets bored of the game. Or at least, that's what he says. He was too scared of the arachnophobia section to get through. He eventually manages to watch a let's play, but horror games still aren't really his thing. Has a crush on Captain Spaceboy.

Roxy: Got to the black space Mewo scene and hacked the game so she could get past it. She probably also modded the game so that white space is full of Mewos. She's the one who got everyone else into the game. Writes crack fiction. Mari lives AUs all around.

Dirk: Gets into the game to shut Roxy up about it. Plays the entire thing without stopping for days. Emerges a nervous wreck who claims "it was all right". He cried his eyes out at the ending, even more than Dave. Unlike with Dave, everyone knows that he did. He thinks he hid it. He did not. Writes as much fanfiction as Rose and Roxy. Somehow manages to be as angsty and self indulgent as both of them respectively.

clenches my fists. okay i need to talk about this cause it's been on my mind. can we like . stop erasing bambi being aroace. like i get that headcanons exist and i don't have anything against people who do ship dave x bambi or whatever (btw shipping here refers to romantic shipping exclusively i have no problem with like. qppr content of them i don't see their relationship that way but Good for them!) and i understand you could just like . hc bambi as demiromantic or something. but at the same time it never feels like its ever acknowledged that bambi is somewhere on the aro spectrum in that situation. and i know people just headcanon him as not aroace but. that rubs me the wrong way. and also people saying "it's canon in golden apple!" isn't an excuse because it's actually Not canon and dave and bambi shipping cute was a joke song and no bambi is not gay in current gapple lore (see: this). and even if it was it's still a fan mod that doesn't make it canon and just cause it's popular doesn't automatically make it okay. it's just frustrating because every time there's an aro and/or ace character in like any media ever the fact they are aro/ace is IMMEDIATELY erased for the sake of shipping because people simply cannot wrap their heads around the fact that platonic relationships exist! friends can be close without it being romantic! friendship is not just a stepping stone for romance it's just as important and valid! and. again i understand headcanons and stuff and again I Do Not hate you if you ship bambi with whoever!! (as long as it's not like. a character that's a minor i KILL YOU if that's the case) i'm not telling you to stop having fun or anything and like. you can ignore this if you want because in the end i can't tell you what to do. but i just wish that we could have aro/ace characters without that fact getting completely removed from their existance solely because people just have to ship them romantically So Badly that they get rid of a part of who they are. and also i wish people acknowledged bambi being romance and sex repulsed specifically more!! i know that was more recent-ish information and people who don't use twitter probably just Did Not Know (technically i don't use twitter either i don't have an account or anything i just browse for dnb content sometimes LOL) but like. aroace people who don't want to be in a relationship are valid too! can we stop acting like aroace characters just don't exist. please if someone irl told you they were aromantic and/or asexual you wouldn't try to force them into having a relationship they wouldn't want (at least i HOPE you wouldn't). so why do the same to fictional characters? also no saying it's "just fiction" isn't a valid argument shut up i kill you with the power of a thousand suns fiction affects reality shut your mouth. aroace people need representation too, let us have it without completely erasing us. rant over thanks for coming to my ted talk. also reiterating again I DO NOT HATE YOU if you ship bambi ships!! i just don't really like it personally!! this is just my thoughts and feelings on the matter don't act like this is a personal attack i beg also this is all coming from an aroace person so i am very qualified to talk about this topic :3 but of course this isn't how other aro and/or ace people might feel about this, in the end this is just my silly little opinion

Introduction

If you’re reading this, you’ve found Horrorstuck Central! What this is, is basically a place for me (Mod Jax, the writer) and Mod Rox (the main artist) to post our art, ideas, and whatever else we want to make sure is certain in our AU, Horrorstuck. For those not in the know, Horrorstuck is basically my excuse to do a “what if the beta kids became classical horror figures, like the werewolf, ghost, and vampire?” The concept essentially snowballed from there. The main idea is that John, Jade, Rose, and Dave are a bunch of homeschooled 18 year-olds with no friends who run a paranormal problem-solving service... thingamajig. It’s basically like the Ghostbusters. Think of it like Supernatural crossing over with Scooby-Doo, crossing over with Gravity Falls, crossing over with Homestuck. Don’t worry, the major characters will really only be FROM Homestuck. No surprise appearances to be found here! We don’t have much else to offer, but we do encourage that you send us an ask! Who knows, maybe one of the characters will answer!

I expected a small class. Yesterdays blog listed all the people who have various excuses. Some others glommed on. Or maybe they previewed today's WOD and chickened out. Today was a HARD HERO WOD. Robert left town because of it.

Kayla's S.O. of course didn't make an appearance, and his excuse is uniquely and curiously suspicious. I mean, seriously, who goes to stock car races anyway ?? And who dates a bubba who goes to such races ? I suspect this is just one of a continuous litany of reasons why the S.O. will never submit to the required LHCF portfolio examination.

Truthfully, if I were to suddenly find myself (Oh Happy Day) in the dating pool, there is no way I would ever bring a young nymphette athletic lady-friend to the Barn for guys like Robert, Warren A, and Big Lew to evaluate.

Faith (The Kid) was unable to attend today due to an injury. She kinda has a "Runner's Toe" which is very painful. We missed her and hope she gets better soon since she has some races coming up.

Before she disappeared on vacation, we had some hints from Charrita that she was interested in renewing our Wednesday morning "Mom's" workouts. I just hope she comes back. Then we'll talk.

I think that October is Old Grandpa Joe Hall The Bird Mans' 1 Year at LHCF anniversary. He has rapidly progressed from super-slug to my personal super-hero. We must have a special day for him this week, maybe Thursday if he is not attending some little kids baseball game.

Excuse me mod for bothering,but can you give a summary of what's happend so far? I've fallen VERY behind with the blog,and I'd like to ask some things but don't really know what to ask.

Sorry for the trouble again-

(Okay so firstly; I am genderfluid, I don’t usually care about which pronouns you use! Unless I’m in a certain gender mood, you can use he/him if you wanna keep it safe since it’s my most preferred pronoun! Now The stuff with Reginald summary; So Kit(an asker) was talking with Reginald, Reg almost called em Svens name, got emotional, ect, ect, it's revealed that Reg is a sleep deprived fuck and dear Kit uses some magic and makes him fall asleep. Then a ghost RHM appears since Reg became unable to answer asks, Right was angry and confused at first since Kit just knocked out Reg(with magik), Kit called em down, they talked, Right had a Dad Moment and gave Kit a pat on the head Kit fell asleep and went into Reginald dream, in it Reginald was being insulted by his own guilt and self-doubt/hatred, Kit threw out a ball of light to try and attack the creature but it fizzled out(and caused some stuff I'll talk abt later) then realized it was just bad thoughts and talked to Reginald, didn't fully stop the whole "I'm a horrible person" thoughts but it did make him feel better Then Reginald woke up and Kit went into Daves dream ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Daves side: Evie(An Asker) appeared and talked with Dabve- or 'Sec', Sec talked about his lost memories then had a little simp moment. Stuffy(Or whatever their name was), an Anon, gave Dave a plush panda and there was a wholesome moment Evie poofed her and Dave to The Wall in the solitary confinement area to try and get Dave to remember his past, Dave has a small breakdown since small spaces are a trigger(which neither of them knew) for him but he did, for a moment, remember something and was eager to try again. Evie talked him out of trying again and Dave started to run out of power so they poofed to his carging port, where Dr. V was, she wasn't exactly trusting of Evie at first but she wasn't rude either, Dr. V told Evie to not try and help Dave get his memories back then fade to black Evie reconnected to Rupert. Rupert pointed a gun at her but Evie managed to make friends with em, Rupert talked about Dave, had a sad moment then kicked a rock into a tent Victoria came out of said tent pissed off, the light ball Kit summoned appeared and Evie tackled Victoria, saving here from getting crucified and a tent caught on fire! Quickly getting put out. After that the twins appeared! And now Evie is talking with them Dave is currently having a dream that’s being explored right now! It’s mostly his broken and scattered memories replaying in his head right now ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Henry stuff: Henry and Charles were chilling on a bench, an Asker came in askin abt timelines and Henry immediately went into attack mode since random people can possibly be dangerous, the Asker did some magic and then Charles ended up with his arms and legs stuck and Henry is currently trying to help him. Lyra(Asker) appeared and tried talking, Henry isn’t a fan of Toppats so he immediately had his arm turn into a sword and got on the defensive

When he went to your place and saw how you looked he was a bit worried "Holly shit S/O are you okay?" wich you just shrugged off and said that you were fine.

His face clearly said that he wasn't buying it. And you kept trying to either go around the topic or just make stupid excuses.

He didn't believe any of your bullshit but even though he wanted to he couldn't force you to take any mends.

You were currently hanging out at your place watching some shitty movies. He came up with this idea so you didn't have to move much it at all.

Also you were under the blanket all the time and it was comfy but you didn't fall asleep like he thought you would. Instead you asked what he wanted to do now after finishing few movies from John's recommendation list.

Yet again he picked something that didn't make you move much wich was playing games.

You played for few hours and decided that now was your turn to pick activity. So you wanted to go outside for a while.

He immediately protested and you repeated that you were fine. As you stood up you felt dizzy but kept walking towards the door and ended up collapsing.

Dave immediately knew what to do and oh boy was he going to tease the shit out of you once you wake up.

He picked you up and placed you on your bed your body was super warmed up and he actually couldn't belive why you couldn't admit that you were sick. You allways were stubborn. But to this point?

While he placed a wet towel on your forehead he thought of few ways to greet you once you were awake.

You woke up few hours later and he was beside you he noticed that you were awake and said "I am definitely not sick huh? Or was it-"

"shut up" you cut him off before he started saying your excuses against you.

Afterwards he took quite good care of you so you were back on your feet quickly. Dave warned you that next time he will not wait untill you collapse next time and he will take care of you right away.

HS^2 bloggin’ upd8 2020-01-17

Alright, morningblogging yesterday’s 2020-01-17 upd8 to Homestuck^2 let’s go! Spoiler-free again. I kinda don’t want even the next chapter names image-spoiled above the cut anymore so I’m going to have to figure out WHAT to put above the cut in these liveblog posts for visual reinforcement... a unique silly icon? Going back once I’m done with the upd8 and posting something non-spoilery but weird-looking out of context?

Eh, can’t be assed. Just know that after this I’m going to pony up for the Patreon commentary and skim it for anything plot-useful to y’all (in a separate post). Let’s get started.

Okay, what’s next: Any bonuses? Oh, none! Phew. Unless those are coming faster too and just staggered differently, which would mean I gotta overcome my irrational pre-Homestuck-reading anxiety even MORE often. :T

(FYI, HS^2 has been good to my emotions so far, quite a balm for the epilogues, so once I START reading I’m usually fine; but after being hurt so badly how could I possibly convince my lizard brain to trust it until it’s right in front of me? Seriously, just hearing that the upd8 has landed messes me up a bit until I come fix it by reading w/ y’all here.)

Okay, so whose feelings? As much as I’ve been waiting for Jade, I hope this isn’t about Jade.

Ah fuck, we’re finally with the Pursuit Crew. Bracing myself. That means we get to see probably sleeping Jade ( :C ), full-swing DaveKat (approving nod), the first canon onscreen look at masculine-mode Roxy (<3), a probably pretty pissed off Kanaya (possibly either the feelings target, the one Saying How Are Your Feelings, or both), and uh... did they drag Callie along? Or leave her back there with her meta freakout? Probably left her back there, but... hm.

Let me turn up the brightness on this screen to sear these next pages into my retinas. (Also, it feels odd to still be using a four-person “==>” for these, although if Jade is still asleep the numbers might fit on both ends... :c )

Please let her wake up between speak-throughs, please tell me you’ve learned that trick?? I already know you’re gonna pull an “oh she was asleep pretty much all of those THREE YEARS OF TRAVEL” thing on me and that’s hard fucking enough to deal with.

KARKAT: JESUS CHRIST!

He’s actually using the full curse correctly, huh?

...These commands. Guess part of the puzzle is how much alt!Callie is being typically morbid and how much she might actually be wising up enough to get a kick out of this.

Has CallieJade chilled for even a single second this entire trip?? Is he asking just if Karkat’s okay or Jade too???

--yeah I’m overblowing things out of nervousness. Just wait and see a bit, boots.

Alt!Callie has at least learned to be more of a smartass:

(Did alt!Callie alchemize adjustments to did she just luck out to have a red-symbol’d Bec belt and accent leggings? I’d prefer the former, because as much as it would be acceptable within Homestuck proper, using the transition between the epilogues and this new-author’d work to just HAPPEN to give her a fitting outfit without an excuse via providence is kind of lazy.)

KARKAT: OH, PARDON THE FUCK OUT OF ME FOR OVERREACTING A LITTLE WHEN MY GOOD FRIEND "POSSESSED JADE" BUSTS INTO MY RESPITEBLOCK AT 5 AM! KARKAT: NEXT TIME I’LL JUST PULL THE COVERS BACK AND LET HER CLIMB IN! JADE: i am uninterested in that scenario. KARKAT: GREAT! POSSESSED JADE ISN’T EVEN HORNY! HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT?

...please let that mean he’s not used to her being possessed all the time and she wakes up sometimes. PLEASE.

DAVE: but im pretty sure i locked that door JADE: i unlocked it with my mind. DAVE: fuck KARKAT: FANTASTIC. JADE: the prince’s powers are growing, but so are mine.

Dave, I’m pretty sure regular-ass no-Green-Sun Space powers can flip a few lock tumblers too. (--though, I guess from context this was a Jakeship technolock. Confirmation on the ship’s bad taste in design. --I think I’m foggily remembering it said in the Epilogues that they took one of Jake’s ships just like Dirk did, too... man, being depressed so much by the Epilogues sure took a lot out of my ability to recall them decently.)

KARKAT: LIKE YOU DON’T FLOAT AROUND LIKE A CREEPY PIECE OF SHIT ALL DAY AS IT IS?

God DAMN IT she’s been asleep and possessed the whole fucking time.

More obligatory DaveKat being cute, somehow only emphasized by the embarrassing glowing-with-power observer who doesn’t really get any of it.

Hero outfit, understated... her his choice of heart-shades color-coded to stand out from Dave more to avoid further mistaken identity cases. Works well! (Holy shit I only JUST remembered at the end to go back and correctly gender Roxy as him, that was close. I blame the epilogues for a lack of visual reinforcement; I shouldn’t have as much trouble soon enough. Seriously, I don’t remember ANYTHING without visual reinforcement, I think that’s why I remember so much of Homestuck proper so clearly.)

KARKAT: OH SHIT, THERE SHE IS! I DIDN’T EVEN HEAR HER FOLLOW US! ROXY: sometimes a girls just got to get her drift on i guess ROXY: it be like that

I missed Roxy so much, you guys. I need more of him remarking on all this crazy shit if I’m gonna stay sane though all this. (And I need more of him and AWAKE JADE kicking ass independently or together if I’m going to continue to believe there’s justice in the world.)

We rarely saw Rose drinking anything but the rare coffee in canon, but I think Kanaya would have gotten her plenty into tea, yes. Or at the very least, wanting the aesthetic of drinking tea with Kanaya would have gotten Rose into tea even if it never crossed Kanaya’s mind to try the stuff.

ROXY: well i mean who knows what she drinks now ROXY: dirk probs tossed the coffee machine out the space window right away ROXY: dude doesnt "believe" in "substances" > the prince is contemplated for a moment in silence.

FUCK, Dirk can see the narrative all the way out here??? No wonder alt!Callie’s forced to have possession turned on 24/7. That’s fucking disappointing. How the hell are we going to get any proper Jade time with THAT hanging over our heads? She’d only be able to do anything when Dirk’s knocked out, and maybe not even THEN!

I was virtually promised more of actual non-asleep Jade getting shit done in HS^2. Now there’s an even longer wait on it than I expected. This sucks.

(EDIT: BOY did I misread that link line. Thinking “is contemplated” meant is sitting contemplating, when it meant "is being contemplated by everyone here". That was dumb of me.)

Oh my goodness, Roxy joined the Bird Hair Crew. It makes him look like a fucking asshole but I kind of love it.

KARKAT: IS THERE MILK?

I can’t believe Karkat is okay with drinking milk. --yes, culturally Trolls are more comfortable with animal excretions than we are, but you would’ve thought years of railing against Equius would have purged any tolerance the idea of milk from his psyche.

I guess Dave introduced him to cereal, and it was all over from there.

Oh no, don’t ask for the nursery story, Dave. Unless it turns out to be a funny one or a Rose twist on an old story or something. Which it probably is, I should stop worrying.

Mother fuck I’m even going to have to see our protagonists warped by Dirk when they’re ostensibly FULLY SHIELDED aren’t I. There’s only so much of that I would be able to take, you know.

KANAYA: It May Simply Stem From My Longing To See Her Again And How Much Is Indicative Of Something More Sinister KANAYA: She Is A Goddess Of Light And The Only Of Her Kind We Know Is Alive After All KANAYA: Maybe Shes Wrested Dominion Of The Entire Concept In All Its Appearances Within This Frame Of Reference

Hm. Well, it being a product of Rose’s ascension instead of Dirk’s is possibly a more charitable take, with Ultimate Rose projecting the delusion enforced on her backward, visible to past Rose’s Sight when she isn’t paying attention and thus paving the way for Dirk to paradoxically exploit that “ideal” as something Lighty and Important and “Perfect”. I still don’t fucking like it though.

Well, if you want to blame Lord English for instance... we never saw Caliborn and Karkat interact much, but the parallels between the two were drawn so severely that Caliborn was basically the idealized, multiverse-threatening Ultimate Kismesis that he’d always dreamed of. And operated against him without him even ever quite realizing it.

If a level of “respect” went from Caliborn to Karkat, too, from his Lord-Englishy vision nigh-omnipresent, then this outcome isn’t very surprising at all.

(I don’t quite feel I get why Roxy shifted to this exasperated-Dave expression, but I get logically that he’d been waiting for Karkat to make a breakfast choice... Homestuck proper rarely pulled a “last line said corresponds to next-panel’s expression” without either leaving the conversation blank or having the NEXT lines of the conversation reinforce it, to prevent this inelegant misunderstanding. Andrew was really damned talented in getting his point across visually, in that regard. Just like, that careful visual intent delivery.)

Alright, I guess that’s it for this short upd8! Meeting the pursuit crew was both more and less difficult than I expected. Hopefully I get desensitized a bit as the characters continue to feel semi-almost-sorta-fine.

I have NO idea how this group is gonna work as a proper crew when we get to whatever weird other-players’ session this shit is going down in, though.
