just saw a tiktok of a woman who says that her boyfriend of three years has never seen her without makeup, and i genuinely can't comprehend it. in our four years together, my boyfriend has seen me without makeup, covered in spots, sick with the flu. he's held my hair back while i've vomited and rubbed ointment into my cuts and bites. he's seen me radiant in the summer with a tan and he's seen me depressed with dark circles in the winter. he's seen me at my heaviest and my lightest and has loved me the same at both. he kisses the freckles and blemishes on my face when i complain about them. he's walked me home stumbling and dead drunk and crying my eyes out. he tells me how much he loves my skin when i get out of the shower. he shows me beautiful nude classical paintings of women who look like me, and celebrates it. he's wiped my nose and washed my back and he kisses me when i haven't brushed my teeth. how are you people in relationship with men who don't even know you, whether that's through your own insecurity or his misogyny? how are you living like this?

#dogblr #dogs of tumblr #australian shepherd #2 years #kaija has become such a good little hiking buddy #this walk was gorgeous but also a bit challenging at times - for me because of some icy/muddy descents and steep ascents #and for kaija because we had to cross quite a few little rivers and creeks #but she did really great #she evaluated each crossing and decided for herself whether she would ford the river or go across these little log bridges #and during the rest of the walk too she of course was running around and exploring but only where it was safe #this trail would have been way harder to do with her at 1 y.o. since back then she tended to run and jump without thinking first #i was pretty impressed today-both with her physical capability as well as with how reasonable and thoughtful she was in her decision making

I can understand why people dont like the 3rd season of the walking dead game. Its very quick and dosent let you explore as much as the first 2 games. The 3rd game feels very railroaded. Now i didnt play the game when it came out and didnt keep up with its production but it dosent make sense to have split the first 2 episodes up. The 3rd episode goes by very quickly as well. Woth the first 2 games you could explore your surroundings a little more and learn about the world. Id love to know more about the places! But the game is full of walking quick time events wich is fine for the action but i want to know more about richmond and Prescott from the enviorment more than speach.

It just dosent have the same charm as the first 2 seasons.

For some reason, I woke up thinking about Elizabeth and the sort of physical dimension of the novel.

To back up a bit, Elizabeth's physicality as a character is pretty widely acknowledged. We know more about her appearance than that of any other character in the book, to begin with. She's the only character in P&P whose coloring we know anything about (she has beautiful dark eyes with fine eyelashes), while we repeatedly hear about her light figure, her summer tan, and her general attractiveness—she's not stunning, but pretty.

There's also a sense of physicality in terms of her actions and reactions. She habitually walks and runs. She blushes frequently; at Pemberley, before Darcy shows up, she blushes as she admits to knowing him, concedes that he's very handsome, and shortly thereafter blushes deeply again upon encountering Darcy himself. Her impression of Pemberley is powerfully affected by the physical features and aesthetic of it, more than by its grandeur. Upon meeting Georgiana, Elizabeth likes her but also can't seem to help noticing that Georgiana isn't as good-looking as Darcy. Later, when Darcy shows up in Hertfordshire with Bingley, Elizabeth blushes again, smiles with delight, and her eyes shine.

But something else I find interesting is that Elizabeth is also linked to physical things to some extent. There are the infamous muddy skirts that she drops her overskirt down to conceal. There's her book at Netherfield. She preserves Darcy's letter until their engagement and only destroys it for his peace of mind. She rushes to find her parasol for her confrontation with Lady Catherine. She wears a watch.

IDK, this isn't going anywhere in particular, but I find it interesting that we get this paraphernalia alongside a comparatively distinct sense of Elizabeth's physicality and how she interacts with the outside world. At the very least, I think the paraphernalia reinforces the sense of Elizabeth as a very physical presence in the world.
