That would definitely be infinitely cooler than my idea! Gothamverse is the beautiful result of me playing arkham knight while waiting for an mcr livestream to start up and thinking ‘damn bitches from jersey are fucking insane! ....wait a minute’

It’s basically a silly little idea I came up last March with where all the mcr guys are from Gotham and what their villain origin stories would be etc. I followed the main Batman villain archetypes: extremist, anti-hero, camp, and serial killer, and I had a fucking blast! It’s very silly and just something I did for fun. I guess I can go a lil bit into it here.

full disclosure, I am psychotic and disabled and I do not believe in the vilification of mental illness or disability in media, all of these characters will eventually get the help they need. Batman at its core is about a mentally ill man helping others who have been failed by society and I will never forgive dc for making him into an overpowered, glorified cop.

Frank’s character (Francis ‘Frankie’ Stein) is the extremist (duh). He’s the son of a mafia boss who is steadily ruining their town with crime and Frankie just kinda snaps and kills him to take his place as the head of the family and try to undo some of the damage done. He has great intentions, he’s just very unyielding and kind of insane 💕 his moniker is Frankenstein! And his whole schtick is that he’s very hard (if not impossible) to kill. He’s also chronically ill and Jewish, these are not important to his character but they are important to me !

Mikey’s character (Micheal Way) is the serial killer. He’s a ‘sociopath’ (theres nothing actually wrong with him, people just suck and made him feel lesser and out of place :/) trying to fit in with everyday society but he always feels like something is missing and becomes a neuroscientist to try to find what exactly it is. He invents a machine (the empathsizer) that allows him to experience other people’s memories and emotions as though they are his own. From there he accidentally gets addicted to the chemical responses his brain has to doing that. And keeps doing it. Even after the testing phase is no longer accepting applicants. It gets worse after he experiences someone’s near death experience and starts chasing the high it gave him. Idk what his moniker is? It’s sandman for right now but that’s honestly so boring and uninspired.

Ray’s character (Raymond Ortiz) is camp but very loosely. He’s an engineer by day and a rockstar by night! He’s really only an engineer to save up enough money to pursue music full time but it’s hard because he doesn’t get paid that much. Winter hits and with it, cuts to his hours! So he’s forced to choose between rent and electricity. When he gets really sick as a result, he can’t afford a doctor. And when he wakes up with his hearing gone as a result, theres nothing he can really do but spiral into a depression. Until he realizes he’s a literal biological engineer. If he can’t fix his problem he can at the very least prevent it from happening to someone else! Research does cost money, so it’s very fortunate that Gotham has so many banks. His moniker is Dr. Megahurtz! His weapon of choice is his guitar, which has been retrofitted with sonic emitters to amplify and weaponize the hertz. Not enough to hurt, but enough to incapacitate.

Gerard’s character (Jules Moss) is the anti hero! She’s (yes I made Gerard’s character a trans girl, they took too long to make a trans character so I did it for them) has the same backstory as Gerard actually! On her way home from work she witnesses a terrorist attack, but instead of starting a band she decides to fight crime instead. She does so bad. Literally her first night out patrolling she gets killed by some priest who’s been driven insane by what he claims is an angel that’s ‘chosen him to impart gods will’ but it’s just a fallen star looking for a vessel to possess and the first guy it came across wasn’t dead lol. The star turns into a sword of pure light and that’s what Jules gets stabbed with, but also it fuses itself to her dna so she wakes up a few days later, schrödingers girl, with some scary new abilities and a voice in her head that definitely wasn’t there before. Her whole arc is her trying to find the guy that killed her and get revenge. Her moniker is stigmata! Because when she gets impaled it also goes through the palms of her hands and the wounds don’t heal.

but yeah that’s the bare bones of it all! I’m planning on making this into a comic series but the script is still being written at the moment! Thank you for letting me ramble about it 💕🥰

Black Eagles FEW Glow Up Tier List

Now that we have the redesigns for the BE as well, I have opted to put them into the tier list of glow ups! Here we go, and these are ordered within tiers:

Here’s the tier maker list I used as well

Ok so if I had to summarize the BE as a whole: they feel like when a tech company decides to completely change their UI for no discernible reason aside from making it look different. It’s usually not better, it’s occasionally much worse, and the changes they decided to focus on are always the ones no one asked for (Think, like, Tumblr changing the saturation of their blue tone instead of fixing the search bar, that kind of thing).

1) Linhardt. I’ll be honest I still don’t really care for the design, but I disliked his OG design so much that there was really nowhere to go but up for me. It’s the happy medium between the “WAY too much bangs” of his Academy design and the “no bangs at all where did they go” of his War design.

2) Dorothea. She looks almost exactly the same, except her hair is now easier to animate shorter. And there’s a braid now, I guess. It’s not bad, it’s just kind of boring. The definition of “we needed to make this different but we didn’t exactly know how. I would have liked to see something a little more different or complex.

3) Ferdinand. Same deal as Dorothea really, it’s almost exactly the same. It’s just “his academy hair, but slightly longer but not too long so we can animate it. Again, there was so much they could have done with it and it feels like they didn’t put in any effort. Why not give us ponytail Ferdie, or Ferdie with braids, or just something like that? Felix got a long ponytail so we know they’re not that against the concept.

4) Edelgard. I honestly have a hard time quantifying this one. I definitely like it better than the fire truck red dress and the Leia buns, but I also honestly don’t think they were redesigning that version. I stuck it in sidegrade because it’s one of the only designs that seems to be taking cues much more heavily from the Academy version rather than the War version, which I find... interesting, to say the least. And it’s definitely not significantly better or worse than the academy version, IMO.

5) Hubert. Ok hear me out on this one. Yes, he looks like an MCR reject. However, he always looked like an MCR reject. It’s just that now he looks like he’s in his tween emo phase instead of his teen emo phase. It’s definitely not better, but it’s honestly not as bad as it could have been. Which brings us to...

6) Petra. I don’t know what they were doing here tbh. Her original hair had so much flow and movement and they basically just stuck a helmet on it. I don’t really understand why. I don’t think it’s a bad direction to go, I just think it could have been executed much better so it didn’t look like... helmet hair.

7) Caspar. My boy. Look how they massacred my boy. From Academy to War design Caspar had hands down one of the absolute best glow ups of any of the cast. All they had to do was not mess it up, and what do they do? They mess it up HARD. First off, what’s with the random scar coming out of absolutely nowhere? And the hair, he looks like he just stuck a fork in an electrical socket. Which, while definitely on brand for Caspar, is not necessarily the look I wanna see for him.

8) Bernadetta. My god. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone above the age of 3 wear their hair like that in public. Interestingly, I’d say that Bernie is the other character where they seem to be visibly taking a lot more cues from the Academy version than the war version. I mean it’s literally the exact same hair, just with a stupid bangs ponytail. No. I have too many opinions on this even just for this post.

My #1 post of 2022

My main thought about what happened during MCR's Riot set is this: if this was going to happen - if they were going to create conditions leading to an overcrowded show with not enough security and too much alcohol - thank god it happened during MCR's set. Yeah, since Astroworld, every artist has started taking care of their crowd. But MCR has always done this, since before there were videos of every single show, before the internet would tear apart anyone who didn't react to dangerous situations in the audience. They've been getting booed for telling people to be safe for years. Honestly, not everyone would have been as insistent as they were about keeping everybody safe. And if they didn't stop in between almost every song to tell people to move back and help each other, who knows how much worse it would have been. It's absolutely awful and terrifying what happened, but I don't think there's an artist in the world who was more equipped and willing to help than MCR.

Obligatory twewy for the fandom ask game

Blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): This one has to go to Beat, like I think I just legally would not be able to defend myself against the blorbo allegations. He's my everything. I think about him every day. He's the older brother I want and the positive role model I wish I had. I wake up in a cold sweat every morning thinking of new ways to put him through emotional torment. My one and only dream is to beat him in a wrestling match. It is one of my core emotional needs now to make sure at least one person is lovingly holding his hand at all times.

Skrunkly (character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): This one is a tie between Neku and Rhyme. I like Neku more for the obvious reason that he has like a shit ton of screen time in game 1, but I also ADORE Rhyme so much. I'm a twin who gets along really well with my brother, so all the sibling stuff hits me right in the feels 🥺. Plus I also really love programming so like, same hat!! Anyway I also have a ton of fun making Neku out to be way more emo than he probably is bc I had a hilarious edgy phase in middle school and he makes me want to give him my MCR vinyls and watch him freak out about the limited edition record patterns. Plus... oh my god his friendships with Shiki and Beat are so fucking heartwarming. Literally trying not to cry thinking about it.

Scrimblo Bimblo (underappreciated fave): Hear me out---Rindo. He's the main character of neo twewy and yet he gets so little love. What an adorable, anxious little dude. I'd put Fret in this category too, but I don't want to double up in too many places or I'm just gonna hit the whole cast at some point.

Glup Shitto (background fave): I have a number of shopkeeps that I'm fond of bc I frequented the stores so much but honestly none of them come close to the Don!! Love that eccentric chef man. Didn't matter where I was on the map, I'd always drag the gang back to his shop in both games when it was time to eat.

Poor little meow meow ("unproblematic" fave): Shoka, definitely. She was left in a wet cardboard box all alone and I want to pick her up, dry her off, park her in front of a heat lamp and give her little forehead kisses like with a kitten. Yes I'm aware she's a war criminal so what

Horse Plinko (character I would torture for fun): Look in my eyes and tell me you're surprised it's Joshua. Look at me. He's so fucking kickable. Even disabled and retired from wrestling I wish I could put him in a barbed wire chokehold and make him scream mercy. In an affectionate way, to an extent, but yes. I would LOVE to strategically break each of his bones

Sooo let's get on with it I guess -

Favourite colour: people keep telling me that black isn't a colour...so I guess not black (even though it clearly is. I heard one MCR song when I was 13 and my emo phase never went away. It only aged like fine wine 😌). Green is also very important. That kind of dark green you see deep in the woods on a rainy day. Do you smell it, that earthy, mossy scent? OH, and I'm obsessed with THAT shade of green - isn't it fantastic? Red and purple also need to be mentioned. That dark red you see in old theaters and cinemas, the colour of the curtains there, the velvet of the chairs. The blood stains on a white blouse, on the hands of the actor on stage. And purple, the light of a neon sign you see on your way home at night, the colour blueberries stain your fingers in. The shade of that cheap nail polish you bought at the drug store and fell in love with.

Currently reading: I saw that text post once that went "reading is like: I've read five books in 3 days; I have not read a single sentence in months" and I've never felt more understood. 😭 Anyways. I'm currently between books. The last one I've finished was Erin Morgenstern's "The Night Circus" and I really, really took my time with that one. Sometimes you need only one page to understand that you stumbled upon something truly special and you just...don't want it to end. Just like all the visitors at Le Cirque des Rêves. The next book I'm going to read is "The Dance Tree" by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. Can't wait to finally start it because Hargrave's "The Mercies" is one of the best books I've ever read. It's just so beautiful, sapphic, haunting and emotionally devastating. I've never stopped thinking (and hurting) about it.

Last song: I've got three songs I'm playing on loop 24/7 at the moment: "Cruel" by Jackson Wang (like Oh. My. God. that comeback was SO GOOD. Can't wait for the release of "Magic Man" in September); "Lift Off" by Labrinth (that man. All of his songs give me feelings I can't put into words) and "Revolution" by Bastille (I've been obsessed with them for 9 years now and I also can't wait for the new songs to drop <3).

Last series: "KinnPorsche". Because. I. Just. Can't. Move. On. 😭💀😭 (And I don't really have time to start a new series at the moment. But maybe I'm finally going back to "Tomorrow". I haven't finished that one yet because I myself was looking for a job at the time and everything just felt a bit too...close to home, you know. 💀)

Last movie: "Thor - Love and Thunder" because I'm still a Marvel Girl after all. BUT: the movie I still can't stop talking, thinking and be annoying about is "Everything Everywhere All at Once". That movie is just...perfection, the most insane, brilliant, silly, emotionally devastating cinematic masterpiece I've seen in a while. Or maybe even ever. I laughed and I cried and I did both at the same time and please, please, please watch that movie if you haven't seen it yet because it's film at its truest form. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Currently working on: I'm working a full-time job for the first time in my life now (I've been at uni before and only doing student jobs) and I'm still...trying to get used to it. It's a lot, ngl. 💀 How on earth do people have jobs, friends, hobbies AND a bearable sleeping schedule?! That's fucking insane to me. 🤯 But enough whining about that. I'm still having way too much fun with my KinnPorsche + Text Post Editions so there are a few more to come. And I really, really, really wanna get back to writing. Because I haven't done that in a really long time and my soul yearns for it.

Soulmate au: S - songs. Any song your soulmate sings will be stuck in your head

Saeyoung x MC (reader)

The first time that your soulmate sent you a catchy song was in your chemistry class, right as you were trying to focus on your task, trying not to spritz the liquid inside your test tube all over the counter, the bongo song started playing in your head. And it was stuck on replay. 

You knew it must have been your soulmate, since all the other songs that were stuck in your head were more… silent and didn’t feel like a live concert where you stood in the first row. 

Of course the liquid bubbled out of the tube and the experiment failed, but despite that you knew that they existed. That you had a soulmate. 

When you came home that day you talked about it with your parents, asking them what they felt when they first “heard” of each other. Your dad just panicked, as you found out, he was so nervous about this feeling, that he did not go out for weeks, hiding himself in his own little word. Scared how things might turn out, after “hearing” of your mom. 

Your mom however tried to communicate with your dad, “sending” him songs that she loved, coming up with questions that she wished for him to answer with another song, and after a while he did and actually she got to meet him just a few months later. From that day on they were always together. Never seperated.

Now they were both enjoying their cup of tea and after you told them about what happened your mom got up, ruffled through your hair and smiled. It was a bright, kind smile. The one she always had playing around her lips when she was proud of something you did. 

“Right now, just go with the flow my dear, see what happens.” 

“I’m so glad that there’s someone out there for you my sweetie” your dad said and hugged you. 

(And with that you began to listen to music more and more, exploring all kinds of songs, directions, until you got stuck in an emo phase lol)

You also got a lot of input from your soulmate who seemed to be around your age but also seemed to be pretty moody. You were wondering from time to time what got into them, if they were stuck somewhere they didn’t want to be. Sometimes you didn’t receive an earwig for days but then again they suddenly came up with the cheesiest meme song, those were the ones you hated the most, because they always popped up when you were in a very important situation. Like the time when you were about to start filling in the answers on the paper sheet right in front of you, amidst your exams, but you just couldn’t focus because your mind played YMCA on repeat. Leaving your brain blanked out with an image of a dancing mothman. (you hated it but it was more like a love hate thing)

But then on some days there were only sad songs, depressing ones and the ones that brought you shivers, leaving you crying with tears that burnt into your heart. They got so sad sometimes, that you were actually worried about them. In these times you always tried sending them a cheery sound, a song that always made you smile when you listened to it or one that felt like a warm hug for you, hoping that they would do the same, feel the same vibes of it as you do.

When the finals were finally over and you officially graduated (your grades weren’t that bad- thank god) your parents gifted you a trip to south korea, all on your own. 

Walking down one of the busy streets in Seoul excited you and your senses were flooded with the smell and the sounds of the city. You looked up, searching for the blue sky that peeked out between the gray clouds, that hung over the city, from time to time. You breathed in and let your mind wander to your friends for a while. 

It hurt you to see that they all found their soulmate in one way or the other but you still didn’t know a thing about your own. You were glad that they did but from time to time seeing them being all cute and lovey dovey with each other stung in your heart.

The only thing you knew was that they were under the same sky as you, which gave you at least a little bit of hope in finding them some day. 

Suddenly a flush rushed through your body, notes began to form in your mind and before you knew there was another song suppressing every other thing that occupied your mind. 

It started silent but got louder and louder, you knew it was them and you silently cursed your soulmate for the new song that stuck in your mind. Darude sandstorm. You would have never imagined walking down the streets of Seoul with Darude Sandstorm playing on repeat. 

Then a red Herari drove by with screeching tires, the windows slightly open, probably to get some fresh air, but what bothered you the most was the sound that came from the car. Darude sandstorm. The red haired guy that sat in the driver’s seat madly dancing along to the song that played on full volume. 

The traffic lights jumped to red and he stopped his car abruptly, waiting for the lights to turn green. You couldn’t decide what to do, you knew it was him, that this guy was your soulmate, but how could you stop them? 

You tried sending them signs, only coming up with stop and stare, but he didn’t stare, he still watched the traffic lights.  

Quick you have to do something, you thought and waved your hand, “hello, it’s me.” your mind sang, but still no response. 

The lights went green and the only thing that came to your mind now was to jump. You closed your eyes, hoping that he would stop. 

“Hey! Hey! Are you hurt?” An unkown voice asked, slapping your face to wake you up from your sudden slumber. You didn’t really feel any pain so you shook your head. 

“Thank god, man, why did you jump right in front of my baby? You could have got yourself killed” the young man sighed, looking at you with concern in his amber eyes. 

So those were the eyes of your soulmate, warm and kind, soft but with a touch of sadness lingering in them. 

“I, uh, I’m sorry, I didn’t want to do this, but I would have lost you if I didn’t.” You sighed, rubbing your forehead to get rid of all the things that rushed through your mind. 

“l- Lost me? What are you? A stalker? Now come on, try to get up, then I’ll call an ambulance for you.” The ginger sighed again. He helped you up on your feet in no time, rubbing his neck when you thanked him for it. 

“Oh sorry, I didn’t even introduce myself, I’m Luciel, nice to hit, i mean meet you, hehe” 

“I’m Mc, thanks again for helping me.” You smiled and shook the hand he offered you. 

“Now, let me make a phone call.” He said and turned around to pull his phone out of his pocket. He spoke pretty fast and you couldn’t understand a word. You suddenly felt lost, all alone in a huge city. What were you even doing there? What if he wasn’t your soulmate and just happened to listen to the song? You breathed fastened and your heart started racing. Your thoughts were running wild. 

Then new song came to your mind and you started humming the lyrics, softly, barely making any noise. 

it’s something unpredictable but in the end it’s right, I hope you had the time of your life...  (<-- Tha’ts good riddance by Green Day an amazing song!!)

Luciel hung up on the phone, his eyes lingering on your face with shock in his eyes. 

“Say that again, will you?” He closed the distance to hear you better, and started singing the same lyrics you sang. 

Your heartbeat fastened another time, but this time you were excited. You stared into his amber eyes. Vision blurry from the tears that streamed down your face, you saw that he felt the same. It was him. He was your soulmate, you finally found each other. You pulled him closer, sobbing into his green shirt, laughing at the same time. 

 “So it was you who cheered for me all the time, huh? Thank you, Mc.” he sobbed, kissing your forehead over and over again. Whispering “thank you”s over and over again. 

“So it was you who sent me to the YMCA during my exams.” You chuckled, forming the letters with your hand as you spelled them. A heartwarming laugh bubbled out of his throat and he hooked an arm around you, after rubbing his eyes once more. 

“My god I’m so sorry.”, he laughed, while guiding you towards his car, smiling proudly. “Now let’s wait for the ambulance, and then I’ll take you home.”

6. are there any other preexisting characters that inspired an OC?

does real life dr**m count as a character. i mean ig since he wants his fanbase to ship himself w ppl so badly

to actually answer the question. i'm sure all of them have super subtle inspirations that i sort've subconsciously added on without really knowing it but specifically:

- the main 4 used to all be undertale ocs before i rebooted them and they still have very vague references to the aus i created them for. i don't really wanna mention which cuz just thinking about it makes me lowkey nauseous but it's definitely there

- similarly c4's based on grillby from undertale and c4 and java's dynamic is based on grillby's and sans's

- given how much avatar the last airbender inspires the pacing and writing style i wouldn't be suprised if requiem isn't at least partially inspired by the idea of the avatar (particularly with the idea of being a bridge between the spirit world [gods' and good/evil spirits' plane of existence] and the physical world [earth])

- like i said there's probably a lot of subtle references that even i don't know about djfkdhdk those are the ones i can think of off the top of my head

8. is there a certain song or playlist of songs you have that make you think of an OC/your story for them?

- here comes a thought from steven universe reminds me a lot of ruby/java

- regular lake and reviator lake make me think of swift and python respectively. these two songs make me very mentally ill

- fun fact! vysel was the result of me listening to lifetime achievement award by lemon demon on loop a trillion times and thinking "hey. what if that was an oc". but also kicks by barns courtney fits him so so so so so very well it makes me go stupid

- i just did a bad thing by bill wurtz also reminds me python which is funny cuz it sounds so Not like python but it just. works (particularly with the line "i just did a bad thing, i've ruined everything, and i've let the things i've ruined ruin me")

- dasher by gerard way also reminds me of java unfortunately. i think java would like gerard way nd probably mcr in general too lmao

- i could also sit here and talk about jack stauber all day but no one wants to hear that so let's move on lol

11. which character has been through the most design changes?

swift. easily. she used to took so different (and so worse tbh) it's crazy

ok remember earlier how i mentioned that the main 4 used to be undertale ocs. swift used to be from a completely different au. and her role/personality was completely different too. again i don't wanna go into details cuz i don't wanna remember my ut phase Ever but like. she used to have gray as a main color n shit and god her old design looked so ugly lmao

the main 4 all used to look so so different tbh. all of them has different clothes and stuff cuz i made their designs in motherfucking g*cha l*fe cuz i couldn't draw yet. (they all used to be part cat part demon btw. did i mention that i made these guys when i was 10.) but swift was the only one who went through a complete design overhaul cuz their design was That dogshit

(python does get an honorable mention in this regard because it used to be a girl but then i changed it cuz i had too many girl ocs. he transitioned in universe AND irl go figure)

17. who is your favorite OC?

ruby lol. i think it helps that she's the first ever oc i made period but also she just,,, ouhdjdhdjdh i really really like her design even though it's not the most interesting but she's so so so so friend shaped i wanna give her a hug irl. i project onto her the hardest so i feel very personally close to her too, she's the person i wanna be when i grow up. she's very easy to draw too, i don't have to force myself to draw her like i do my other ocs (not that i don't like drawing my other ocs but ruby is the one i go to the most when i have art block). and she's just a lil silly and she laughs and i don't make her wallow in her own sad backstory so when she really gets sad it feels so real and just thinking about her gives me the warm fuzzies :) i like her so much

18. who is your least favorite OC?

vysel. holy fucking shit. out of every oc i've ever made (for this universe of otherwise) i think he's the only one where i've actively given him next to no redeeming qualities cuz he doesn't deserve any. i don't wanna make him symathetic i want him to fucking die. his entire meta purpose is for me to vent how much i fucking hate e-celebs and how much i wanna see them fail. that's why he dies twice in the story he's just that fucking terrible

i do think he's fun to draw and write and i really like his contrast with python character-wise and how much influence he has over basically half the world and i REALLY like how java has a "don't meet your heros" moment with him but like. personality-wise i think i made him a little too hateable for my own good but. wtv it's ok

30. which OC has been the hardest to develop/design so far?

i remember vysel and especially swift were hard to design but i'd have to go with requiem. they're design is nooot veryy interestingg atm and while i have a good idea of how they fit into the story n such i just. i don't know how to write them. at all. and i never feel like focusing on them either so i'm stuck in perpetual hell lol

i think writing specific scenes with them in it would probably help but then that means getting into "season 2" of the story and s2 is a lawless land LMFAO

34. what scene that you've written/imagined is your favorite?

(okay here's the part where i go too way to hard in on responding lol)

python/vysel confrontation scene my heart goes out to you

it's set in the middle of the story and it sets the tone for both vysel's character and is basically the launch point for python's arc and like. it's the point where the story goes "oh shit we're getting serious now" and it sets the tone for the back half of season 1 and. please whoever's up there give me the strength to write this i'll go absolutely batshit

without fully spoiling everything building up to that moment, i do wanna say that python isn't a bad guy. not at all. but...

y'know. when you leave your life of endless work and ridicule from almost everyone around you, only to be forced to marry someone you don't even know at 14 (when it was born the world didn't see a problem with doing that). so you leave in hopes to find somewhere you can truly you call home, scamming and bartering for everything you have along the way.

and the you finally find that place, and you think that you'll actually be happy for once. and then some guy who doesn't know a thing about what you've been through makes you the laughingstock of the city. and you're fucking done being pushed around and forced to leave cuz everyone thinks you're a freak who doesn't deserve happiness.

so you stop the problem at its source.

and the audience and the rest of the characters don't know ANY of that shit. all they know is this: up until that point you see basically no genuine emotion from python, he just jokes and insults everyone around it and hopes that they hate him enough to never ask any personal questions. and everyone is used to that by that point. but then you see the anger, the heartbrokeness, the hell on its face when he sees the flyer and the characters don't understand why or what vysel even did but when python looks at them and says that this fucker has to die they know better than to try and stop him. and. and fuckenkasbwkdhwkevwkdhekev i go absolutely bonkers

i wanna save what's actually in the scene for another time though. i think it's better if the characters tell you what happened, not me.

if i ever do write it i'm posting it instantly this is the one aspect of the story i can confidently say i'm proud of

35. which OC would beat you up if they met you IRL?

vysel. i don't care that he's a whole foot taller than me i'm kicking his ass i'm grinding him into sawdust

just finished off my first issue of the new killjoys series, national anthem, here are my thoughts

‼️ spoiler warning lol‼️

instantly dragged me head-fucking-first back into my mcr phase from three years ago. i am ruined. there is SO MUCH i immediately love about this series, from the incredible, poem-esce beginning to the incredible retro art style. the characters are just perfect - on the same wavelength as the others we know and love from previous iterations of kayjay media. mike milligram is edgier than i expected, which is just perfect, because i always felt poison and the gang were a bit too cheery for being stuck in a post-apocalyptic hellscape after surviving a massive war.

as for the plot? amazing. the writing is just as stunning as it was for TTLOTFK and national anthem immediately leaps into the story without delay. the dialogue fits the aesthetic of what we know about the kayjay universe perfectly and the story gives us more insight to what came before the analog wars and what life was like right after. maybe it’s just my interpretation (and of course this is just the first issue), but id love more about what the wars were ACTUALLY like, what it was like to fight in them. i still can’t figure out who exactly the enemy was because BLI and the weird, unseen but ever-present, unnamed oppressor are still in existence after the wars. might just be me, so if anyone knows where to find more on that, hmu. but honestly while reading it, i don’t care about the pieces im missing. it’s THAT good on its own.

the first issue opens with mike bleeding out, which deeply upset me because i do not like to see my favorite characters die, but it was done in such a beautiful way. we get to see how useless he feels - how he’s literally been tossed aside like the garbage he thinks he is - and then our story begins.

we meet the rest of the original fabulous killjoys (i imagine this is a prequel to party poison and the other comic, in my mind poison and val are “generations” following mike) and BOY, they’re incredible. the codes, red and blue, are (i assume) beta versions of the red and blue we see in TTLOTFK. kyle 100%, whose name we don’t learn in the first issue, is pretty reminiscent of kobra but maybe it’s just cuz he’s blond and rollin’ with mike. his design is very new and i totally dig it. animax is probably my favorite of this crew, though. he’s very much new and his design ROCKS. a color changing suit?? for real??? amazing. animax strikes me as the dad friend of the group (he tries to calm down blue and mike at the playground scene with the a.k.as)

SPEAKING of the a.k.as.... holy fuck. adore them. all of them are SO COOL and offer totally new insight to what it might have been like to crawl around in the zones right after the analog wars. so many new faces! new concepts! new headcanons! once again, im in love with their designs and concepts (god bless shaun simon and gerard) and it’s times like these that i wish i was a more talented artist.

another thing i really enjoyed is that the identity of some of the killjoys is more revealed and accessible. blue is called maria right before her (sobbing) death in mike’s arms and we see about halfway through that mike was a grocery store clerk. i’ve seen that red’s name is sophia in some official character design sheets, but we haven’t heard her name in the book yet. but to know that these were normal, real people in the world we live in gives the story a different, heavier context. these characters had their lives uprooted and torn to bits by a war they had to fight in. no wonder mike is so miserable and “screwed up”.

national anthem also immediately touches on trauma more than once and, in my interpretation of the underlying message, points out how trauma is an important tool in shaping who we are as individuals. the pretty subtle thing about the pill marketed to treat the affects of trauma is something that really fascinated me. how the antagonist of this series markets a pill that treats trauma but the side effects essentially make a person lose themselves, navigating life like a zombie.

i also loved the subtle callbacks to the original kayjay universe we know and love, with an appearance of tommy chow mein and a reference to the phoenix witch. however, ive got some criticisms.

first, was not a fan of the romance subplot between blue and mike. blue (and red, for that matter) are characters we know to be lesbians and i really don’t think that should be muddled with. even if blue is bisexual, even polyamorus, and has romantic connections to both mike and red, id personally rather have her stay with red exclusively. maybe it’s just my heterophobia /j but im not a fan. apparently she was even pregnant with mike’s child before she died? ehh.

second, and this is probably just because it’s the first issue, but i feel like there are a lot of questions unanswered. is this an AU or the same universe as TTLOTFK? if it’s the same, what is the timeline for mike milligram and party poison? do they exist at the same time or is party poison inspired by mike, who came before him? or do they exist completely separate? i hope i get these questions answered.

honestly, i may write up something of a review for each issue i read (i have three). it helps me remember what i read, anyway. kinda like an english essay. but overall, i really love this series and this universe. i kinda fell out of kayjays for a few reasons, but a lack of content was definitely one of them. i never thought i’d see killjoys media again and then gerard goes and presents us with this amazing series with new characters and a new story to delve into and it ROCKS.

anniversary: bones of rubber, heart of steel

can y’all believe this fic began one year ago today? i can’t, it feels like i was still fumbling through essays and reports and trying to get a skeleton down lol. i’ll ramble more below, but in case you missed it, here’s the ao3 link and pdf!

i still am super proud of it, although the pdf could have used some work in formatting and close editing but dude I’m one person making this so I’m cutting myself one big ass piece of slack cake! it’s also... sorta my baby in a weird way--pm is my og disaster child currently going through it’s hot topic/mcr phase but i love it. bones/heart was just easy to write, a pleasure to edit and fun to format. i wanna take a moment and talk about why i wrote bones/heart, some influences i had, music, etc. 

as i said in the author’s notes, i had a completely different vision for this fic—originally, faye was to be a hot-headed mage who was invited back to the castle for a ball and met tobin and new feelings blossomed but i really couldn’t get behind that for whatever reason. eventually i thought of one of my favourite tropes—differences becoming strengths. y’all know what I’m talking about right? like you have a mage with low def and pair them up with a knight who’s res is low, they sorta prop each other up? (yes im talkin abt fayelukas hhhh) anyways ya girl got run over by that trope bc hey... archers have limited mobility and pegasus knights get ko’d by arrows so yeah gimme that shit... and mage!faye would end up coming back in wildflowers but we’re not talkin abt me crying into a keyboard.

I wrote bones/heart because not only do i love the dynamics and pairing, i love the characters separately. i relate a lot to Tobin’s desire to be something and help his family, and Faye’s desire to be loved and help her friends and plus i was mad pissed about how they wrote her. i mean, i have a LOT of problems with a lot of the girls’ writing in echoes but i can overlook it because echoes is such a good game. anyways, my goal for this fic was not only to make faye a more relatable character, but show that she’s unfortunately thrown into a shit situation. like ingrid in 3h, I think she is a victim of bad writing, because she’s got the potential to grow as shown with her supports with silque, but she’s really... outta her element (plus she might be going through personal shit bc of being attacked at the beginning of the game? Yeah maybe that :/)

i wanna talk about the repeated phrase, “bones are made of rubber, but a heart is made of steel”, something that Faye’s nana says. i’m almost 100% certain that i didn’t coin this, my single brain cell was like “say something about not winning every battle!!!” if you’ve read any other fics of mine, u know i am a sucker for repetition—in peacemaker its repeating the phrase “promises are forever” (very cheesy), the forget me nots in SGSN and the repetition of faye seeing wildflowers and being called her pet name as a form of submission. anyways, this one was structured to not only prop faye up, but also tobin. these guys are fighting a literal war and will be hurt and broken time and time again, but a heart is incredibly strong, especially Faye’s. a bone can break, but you can heal it—if your heart is broken it takes much longer to heal. my headcanon is that Faye’s nana was always in her corner and would tell her the phrase when she wanted to be with her friends but had other duties, etc.

if you asked me a year ago which was my favourite scene, I would’ve said the barn scene in chapter 3(?), but now it’s faye and tobin sitting by the campfire in the first chapter because it’s just... tender and they’re trying to see each other on the same level, you know? I’ve always felt there’s this huge divide between faye and gray and tobin; maybe it’s because faye is optional or maybe its smth superficial like her being a girl (with better growths and classes, gold knight makes me so gay dude)

Oh yeah and if yall forgot i was walking home from school one day and looked down a hill and it was like muddy and gross and was like “oh no I hope i dont fall” and then fell like a dumbass and my immediate thought was “god faye I’m so sorry” lmfao. ANYWAYS TLDR: i wrote faye falling and fell on my back not even like a day later and instantly regretted my entire life.

anyways, happy birthday bones/heart! I’m still so so so proud of this fic and if you haven’t read it, maybe try giving it a shot? I know that pairing seems weird but it’s good kush, I haven’t gotten outta faybin hell for a solid year and a half! i hope y’all look forwards to the new plans i have for those dumb villagers..

oh fucking ABSOLUTELY dude i love talking abt my tattoos lmao ive got 6 but i did two of them myself on a bender one night when i was like 21 and its just a shitty little saturn on my wrist and the black lodge symbol from twin peaks on my inner elbow/forearm area and my dumb ass really didnt think they’d stick around but theyre still very Present nearly 6 years later so lmao but my REAL tattoos in chronological order ARE:

(u can also see my black lodge stick n poke lmao) this was my first tattoo and i got it partly to cover some pretty gnarly self-harm scars but also just bc i think floral tattoos are really pretty?? and my mom has an actual Obsession with toile print its like a central design element in like 6 rooms of our house so i liked the idea of doing toile flowers so it’d always remind me of her!! :-) she was like “well i dont like the idea of tattoos but if you HAVE to get one i guess this one is okay” which is about as much as an approval im ever gonna get from her on the tattoo front lmao

this was my second one and i finally got it done last november after wanting it since i was like 13 and my tattoo artist is so cool and wonderful and was So Excited to do this one and she played mcr the whole time and we talked at length about our respective emo phases and it was a blast :’-)

i literally got these wrist stitches bc my brother gave me $100 for a late xmas present and im frank iero trash like thats literally It i had a day off and i just walked into a tattoo parlor and showed them a blurry pic of franks wrist tattoo and was like “how much will this cost me” and like 40 minutes later i was on my way home lmao

this one is my most recent but also my fav bc fucking LOOK at her dude okay. so literally i just saw another tattoo someone had of joan on this hellsite and was like “oh thats cool as fuck i want one” like it Did Not Go deeper than that and it wasnt even supposed to be an mcr-related tattoo in the beginning but like in the time between emailing my tattoo artist and the actual appointment i learned about how joan of arc was gerards favorite historical figure at one point and how he related to her as someone called by god or maybe touched in the head and willing to die for their cause and how he’d have nightmares of her burning at the stake and thats when it turned into an mcr-adjacent tattoo and i. literally Cannot believe how incredible it turned out dude like i am So Lucky to be able to have this on my body forever i owe my tattoo artist my whole entire life??? also i got it on the back of my arm because once again i am frank iero trash and i wanted it in the same spot he has his lady of sorrows bc theyre both saints lmao

as for tattoos i want in the future i THINK next i wanna do a bullets tattoo next since i already have one for revenge and tbp (kinda) and i want it to be the hanging man tarot card but with the hanging houdini silhouette and the text at the bottom in the bullets font?? but i also kinda lowkey wanna have frank write his own lyrics for me to get tattooed in between the cincinnati and louisville shows but i. havent decided on which lyrics and ive only got like less than a month to decide bc my shows are in early june lmao
