did the tribe recognize sharptooth/one eye as a haunting? also, you mentioned he mightve manifested as a HUMAN at one point, and that idea is so insanely cool to me- do you have any other ideas for what a human one eye could entail or was it a one-off? cool either way!
Thank you for giving me the chance to talk about this because OH MY GOD I do actually have a brief idea for each incarnation of One-Eye
One-Eye is a war diety, the god of summer, and his power grows with each kill (I need to pick a Special Number for him to achieve full power, which will be tied to how many cats died in the Battle of the Five Oaks (fourtrees) in DotC).
The Hog
The first reincarnation was a hog.
An old boar, a gigantic one, but still only a boar. The Tribe is full of hunters, and this is a quarry they would have figured out pretty easily. But they didn't know that he would keep coming back.
The Bear
The second was the bear, which, I'm gonna be honest with you, is because Ginga was baby Bones' first anime and I wanna see the tribe cats fight a big bear. The Stoneteller of that time was alive for the first two, and still couldn't confirm it, but now it was starting to become a pattern.
I'm still not sure if One-Eye has a trait he keeps in all his incarnations, but it's either that he's blonde or that his eye is doomed to get poked out or have something weird about it.
The Man
The third, the one before Sharptooth, was the Man.
I imagine he had a very intimidating presence, but to other humans something was wrong about him. He didn't really speak, didn't really have friends, but he hated cats. The local farmfolk know there's something odd about the cats in the mountain, but the Man took it to a whole new level.
And that was the deadliest incarnation. Enlisting the help of disgruntled sheep farmers (the tribe cats take maybe 1 or 2 sheep a year), he lead a campaign of eradication. Poison, snares, even shooting at them. Scores of cats died.
Physically, he was a huge human, I keep imagining one eye shining under his fur hat, and he carried around a shiny shotgun. I'm torn between making him look like a stuffy upper class fox hunter, or just some... weird, unsettling hunter guy who showed up one day.
I know he dies being body checked off a cliff, also killing the cat who head-jockeyed him. Something that you'd see in a movie as a kid and it would be fine, but then you grow up and think, "WOW that was pretty brutal." Kind of like the deaths of Gaston and that hunter guy in Tarzan, Clayton I think??
Sharptooth
So, by this point, the Tribe has killed this guy three times. Feathertail isn't doing anything special; but in delivering the final blow, she is now drawing the curse's ire.
(if One Eye is going to follow the Clans to the lake or absolutely RUIN BloodClan's and WarriorClan's days back in Chelford is still undecided.)
The biggest change I'm doing to Sharptooth is that he's probably going to talk now, if I figure out something good for him to say. He's a cat now, in his other forms he was silent to the Tribe.
Also, he's not a cougar. He's a Eurasion Cave Lion. He has no mane but the skin around his neck sags and he's gigantic. I'm sticking to species that would be present in England, god damn it, so I'm not having Sharptooth be some random puma zoo escapee.
He's a truly ancient terror, primal and horrifying.

I hope it's ok to ask your farmer expertise for writing purposes? if a farm was abandoned for c. 2 weeks, with no one to care for the animals, how would the ones you are familiar / have experience with fare -- starve, break out of barns/enclosures, etc? I'll drop dollar in your ko-fi if u answer thx
i'm gonna put this under a cut both bc it's long and bc some of the content might be upsetting, general content warning for animal death and injury
so, what kind of farm infrastructure you have/how it was left is going to matter here
animals with outdoor access are going to have a much easier time getting out than those closed up in a barn, though if they are closed up they'll push on anything they can get to move and doors can come off tracks/hinges, a big enough and desperate enough animal will break a chain on a gate or break a latch on a door. (bulls, especially, are great for fucking up gates for less desperate reasons than thirst. we had a mature bull jump over a gate for horny reasons, and there is now a permanent bend in the top bar.) sometimes they even lift gates off their hinges, which isn’t a perfect way to get out bc cows don’t like walking over that kind of stuff but they will if they have to.
chickens aren't great fliers but they can get over fences pretty easy if there's not a roof in the way, so if they're penned but not in a coop, they'll get out to look for food and water. they'll have the easiest time food-wise (unless it's winter) but will also be the easiest for smaller predators (hawks, raccoons, foxes, skunks, coyotes, etc) to pick off. this'll depend on whether or not your hypothetical farm was abandoned during the day with chickens outside or at night when they were shut up in the coop for protection, in which case, unless your birds have access to two weeks worth of water, they're fucked. mine made it about 8 days on the water provided them when we had to evacuate because of wildfires, but they were topped off knowing we might not be able to get back to them and given extra water because of it. we're talking a 2 gallon covered water can + a coffee can for seven hens, it wasn't too hot, and they were almost dry when i was able to come home.
chickens might be able to make it without food for two weeks, but they might also start cannibalizing each other. this would probably start with a bird at the bottom of the pecking order getting injured and then the situation escalating from there. (this, by the way, doesn't happen unless chickens are under a lot of stress. like chickens are fucked up but i feel the need to be clear that this is not Normal chicken behavior. they will give each other minor injuries but cannibalism happens bc of extreme stress.) chickens will also kill small snakes and rodents.
chickens that are outside without being able to get back in their coop will find a tree or other elevated place to roost at night. chickens that are outside with access to their coop might choose to roost in their coop or outside. laying birds will also start to pick fun new secret places to lay their eggs, under bushes and such. even fed chickens will sometimes eat their own eggs, hungry chickens are absolutely likely to become routine egg eaters. extremely hungry chickens will stop laying.
roosters might be able to fend off skunks and raccoons, but hawks drop out of the sky* and anything much larger than a raccoon is going to devestate an unprotected flock. chickens that are outside in winter and can't get out of the cold are going to be vulnerable to frostbite, particularly their toes and combs. also: if a chicken gets wet down to its skin there is a very high likelihood it will get sick and die.
*hawks will kill a chicken but chickens are also generally too large for them to carry off, so they’ll leave most of the chicken where they found it.
a note on predators in general: you'll have to decide how aggressive they were before the humans were no longer around. where i am, the coyotes are pretty good about keeping their distance, but that's not true of every place, and if they were already a problem, they'll definitely increase their hunting in the absence of humans to keep them at bay. larger animals like cows and horses might be able to drive off or kill a coyote/dog or a small bear, but if they're contending with mountain lions that'll be more of a problem for them. not impossible to drive off/kill, but much more likely to successfully kill livestock.
i don't have much experience with sheep but a problematic dog can kill tons of them in a relatively short time so you can extrapolate from there. i can't think of anyway people tend to keep rabbits that wouldn't leave them dying of dehydration after a few days, unless they manage to pop a latch on their cage/hutch, but they too are going to be extremely vulnerable to predation, being small, unaccustomed to wild conditions, and possibly a highly visible color. domestic rabbits also can die of fright very easily. (my sister's rabbit, who survived a cow sitting on her cage and lived many years after, is an outlier and should not be counted.)
what kind of fencing you have is going to matter: cows don't give much of a shit about barbed wire fences even when they aren't thirsty and hungry, so that won't be much of a problem for them either. if the fence is old, they might push over a rotting post and get out that way. downed wires (barbed or otherwise) might result in an animal getting tangled up--they might be stuck or they might have a horrible ankle bracelet which will cut into them and get infected. they might break the wire from the fence, have a horrible ankle bracelet, and get stuck/tie up their back legs somewhere else.
electric fences are going to be a bit more problematic unless the power is down. cows (and i assume most other livestock) will go through an electric fence if the voltage is compromised in some way, which can happen just from having tall grass/weeds that get wet and short out the fence. if an animal gets tangled up in a hot electric fence and there's no one there to free it, then it's fucked. an electric fence isn't going to be hot enough to kill it fast, is the problem, just enough to make it harder to escape. (i had a rather frightening experience this last summer with a heifer getting her back legs tangled in a temporary wire. she's fine but she wouldn't have gotten out without my help and her legs didn't work for a couple of minutes, and she seemed kind of Off for weeks after that. you wouldn't know anything had happened to her, now.)
wire mesh fences are going to be the hardest to get out of. cow/hog panel fences can be busted where they're tied together/stapled to a post (especially, again, if the fence is old and the posts are decaying.) wooden fences they will just knock over or break through. hedges will be eaten and used for shelter. if for some reason this farm has stone walls that could be a problem for everything except maybe goats and chickens.
goats are escape artists anyway, as long as their horns to get stuck in anything/their feet don't get tangled up, they'll be out and roaming. they are smaller and thus more vulnerable to predators than larger livestock.
access to water is going to be the primary motivator in the short term and the thing that will kill shut-in animals the fastest, as for whether or not anything that manages to get outside will starve in two weeks time, that's going to depend on the season and place. the middle of winter in a place with snow and ice is going to be very hard, obviously, but if we're anywhere between spring and autumn and there is food to be had somewhere, then hungry animals will try to get to it. if they can't get out of fences, hunger might drive them to eat toxic plants they ordinarily avoid. how deadly that is to them depends on how toxic it is, how much is available for them to eat, and how big the animal is. a large cow can probably survive a few stems of tansy ragwort but not a field. (sheep, weirdly enough, can apparently eat young tansy ragwort plants without issue? again, not much experience with sheep but this fact has haunted me since i read it. tansy ragwort causes liver damage in almost everything but sheep, which die at the drop of a hat, Fine, I Guess.)
they'll also start chewing on things that aren't toxic but they might avoid for other reasons, like risking scratching up their nose by eating blackberry leaves, or lower branches of conifer trees. any branches of deciduous trees they can reach, if in leaf, will be one of the first things they go after. if they're regularly pastured under these trees, they'll already have pruned up the bottom branches to however high the tallest animal can reach. if it's autumn or after and there are apples or other fruit on the ground they'll absolutely clean those up, no matter how old--tho after two weeks anyone who finds the place will probably have missed the period of time in which there were drunk livestock. goats will also strip bark off trees, girdling and ultimately killing the tree.
if they can get out of fences they'll wander however far they need to go to find more food. how lucky they are again depends on the season and location. steep hills will provide more danger, especially if it's wet and slick. how regularly they return to the farm itself probably depends on where the water is and if there's better shelter there than anywhere else. (depending on how isolated your hypothetical farm is, wandering livestock might be the indicator that something is Wrong.)
if there are stores of grain laying around that ruminant livestock get into and gorge themselves on, they could get bloat and die that way. they'll also eat bedding straw if hungry, which isn't really nutritious, as long as it isn't covered in urine or feces. in a mixed species group of animals they're more likely to graze closer to/around the feces of other species than in their own. don't ask me why this is just something i've observed.
under severe stress like dehydration or hunger a lactating animal will dry up, which could have consequences for their offspring. if they're old enough to eat solid foods this isn't necessarily lethal, but could stunt their growth in the long term, or leave them more vulnerable to hypothermia bc of the decrease in calories.
some bullet points bc this is A Lot:
animals that are closed up in a barn/coop/etc are at a much higher risk of dying in under a two week time span than animals that aren't
thirst and lack of shelter will kill them faster than hunger
winter is going to in general be the most dangerous season for them to go two weeks without care
most livestock find ways to escape their holdings even when they aren't desperate
small and very young animals are going to in general be more vulnerable to weather and predation
that's about all i can think of off the top of my head, if you have any more questions i'm happy to help.

Sungirlc: the first people who appeared on the territory of Russia In 1955, on the outskirts of the city of Vladimir, near the sungir stream, the burial of a primitive man was first discovered. Since then, a number of remarkable discoveries have been made here, which allowed us to learn a lot about the first inhabitants of the territory of present-day Central Russia. At that time, it was the northernmost edge of the human ecumene in Europe.
According to the most recent radioisotope measurements, the settlement of sungir existed no later than 34 thousand years ago, and possibly even 39 thousand years ago. Thus, it appeared only slightly (on a retrospective scale) later than the time when CRO – magnons appeared in Western Europe-the first representatives of the modern human species in temperate latitudes. Judging from the remains of animal bones, the sungir people hunted mammoths, reindeer (their main prey), cave lions, woolly rhinos, wild horses, bears, wolves, Arctic foxes, hares, etc.
The main feature by which the life of primitive people is judged is their burial: the type of burial, the nature of the burial equipment, etc. The sungir people carefully buried their dead, provided them with hunting tools, labor, and ornaments that could be useful to them in the "afterlife", decorated their graves, and apparently took care of them. They laid the dead in certain positions, no doubt with special rituals, and sprinkled them with ochre, charcoal, and sometimes limestone. Weapons were placed next to them – daggers and javelins made from split and processed mammoth bones, as well as stone tools.
The first burial of a tall (180 cm) man with a strong physique found in Sungir was particularly famous. According to modern expert estimates, at the time of his death, he was at least 45 years old, but given the nature of the development of the bone system, he can be given 65 years. That is, at that time, he was a real centenarian. Even now, perhaps, he would have been considered a man who had lived to a respectable old age. The ancient people were "more head" (and certainly not more stupid) than the modern ones: the brain of this venerable representative (perhaps a leader or shaman) of the tribe had a volume of 1,510 cubic centimeters (for comparison, the average brain volume of a modern person is 1,300 cubic centimeters).
Examination of his skeletal remains revealed the cause of his death – a dart to the base of the cervical vertebra. Thus, we know that he was killed (I wonder how long he would have lived if not for this tragic incident?), and we can now say with complete confidence that the relations in the groups of people of the stone age were far from idyllic. They were obviously fighting for prey, for parts of the hunting territory, that is, they were fighting according to all modern concepts. However, we will not go too far in assumptions: maybe it was a "bad shot" during the hunt.
The next burials found turned out to be children's-a boy 12-14 years old and a girl 7-9 years old, and, judging by the nature of the burial, they died simultaneously or one after the other. Modern genetic analysis has shown that they were brother and sister. They were placed head to head. Surprisingly, the boy (in fact, a young man) may also have died tragically: a trace of a powerful blow with a sharp object was found on the pelvic bone, although it is possible that it was not fatal after all. A few years later, a woman was reburied just above the twin children's grave-very likely their mother.
Remnants of sungir clothing have been preserved. It somewhat resembled the clothing of the Indians of North America, that is, it was adapted to the cold climate, although, of course, it had a more primitive design. Sungir people wore leather shirts, trousers, and fur coats cut like American ponchos, as well as soft shoes like moccasins (most likely in summer) and high, tied above the knees, fur boots like PIMS. Natural in this climate were leather and fur hats (shaped like "ski") and hoods. Clothes were held together with bone needles.
A striking feature of the sungir culture was their passion for jewelry. They made bracelets from twisted flakes of mammoth bones, and wore them not only on their hands, but also on their feet (up to 25 pieces on one leg), and also made beads from drilled pebbles and Arctic Fox tusks, including tying them around the head (3,500 beads were found on the remains of the first sungir) and attaching them to clothing. The girl mentioned above, judging by the development of her muscles, seems to have been mainly engaged in making and sewing beads in the household.
Another remarkable feature of the sungir people's life was their production of children's toys. In the mentioned burial of the boy, figures of a mammoth and a horse were found with a hole in the hind leg (probably to pass a rope).
The life of the sungir people was quite harsh, as evidenced by the traces of heavy physical exertion that fell on their musculoskeletal system. It can be assumed that in winter they used some means of transportation like skis, although the latter could not be preserved, since they were made of wood.
Although the sungir people mined mammoth, they did not build houses made of whole mammoth bones covered with skins (this technology was common among earlier inhabitants of the southern Russian plain – apparently, even among Neanderthals). The climate of ancient Sungir was colder than modern, but not glacial. The area was wooded, with an abundance of firs and birches. So we can assume that the sungir people built their homes like yurts from wooden poles covered with skins, and perhaps even built the first real log houses, although their remains are unlikely to be found due to the decomposability of the material. Let's add that the type of traditional dwelling is formed depending on the climate and material in ancient times and remains almost unchanged for a long time.
As for the anthropological type of the sungir people, who lived at a time when modern races were not yet formed, it bizarrely combines the features of the Caucasian and Mongoloid races and the features of the body structure inherited by the first representatives of Homo sapiens, who came out of Africa (elongated "tropical" limbs).

oc aesthetic - seren
tagged on this one by @undyingembers, thank you!!
mostly under a readmore cause i was feeling poetic and found myself writing!
Bold for always Italics for sometimes
COLORS
red. brown. orange. yellow. green. blue. purple. pink. black. white. teal. silver. gold. grey. lilac. metallic. matte. royal blue. strawberry red. charcoal grey. forest green. apple red. navy blue. crimson. cream. mint green. cobalt blue.
the green of the forest and the blue of the sky are the colors they chose to adorn themselves with, colors they could drink in for as long as they could want to. but they are not the only colors that follow them. the earthy browns of their horns and their fur, the shiny wheat yellow of their hair, the vivid green that’s wrapped around their body and shines in their eyes all trail after them as well. and the twinkling blues and purples that surround them as they watch the night sky, dipping to cascade over their shoulders in a cape made of starlight. all of these are the colors that follow this watcher.
-
ELEMENTS
fire. ice. water. air. earth. rain. snow. wind. moon. stars. sun. heat. cold. steam. frost. lightning. sunlight. moonlight. dawn. dusk. twilight. midnight. sunrise. sunset. dewdrops. magic.
seren is a child, born of the earth, but knowing only the sea and the sky. they take joy in the rushing of waves underneath, the salty breeze through their hair, the feeling of sunlight on their skin, all of the colors that paint and dapple the sky when day turns to night. this is what they know, but when this adventure is over, they will find themself again in the sound of rustling leaves, the feeling of dirt under bare feet, the softness of lying in a clover patch. these are their elements, earth, sea, and sky.
-
BODY
claws. long fingers. fangs. wings. tails. lips. bare feet. freckles. bruises. scars. scratches. wounds. burns. spikes. feathers. webs. sweat. tears. feline. scales. fur. chubby. curvy. short. tall. average height. muscular. lean. piercings. tattoos. lithe.
they look so small, so unassuming at first glance, small horns, floppy ears, and freckle-flowers, wandering around the ship barefoot, smiling as easily as the sun shines. they are themself, of course, always, but even still it’s enough to give pause when they strip at the bathhouse, seeing the bruises and scrapes and scars of battle that decorate their skin, and the hints of lean muscle underneath. they are small, maybe, and sunny, but that does not negate how dangerous a foe they are.
-
WEAPONS
fists. sword. dagger. spear. arrow. hammer. shield. poison. venom. guns. axes. throwing axes. whips. knives. throwing knives. pepper sprays. tasers. machine guns. slingshots. katanas. maces. staffs. wands. powers. magical items. magic. rocks. pyre. teeth/fangs. rifles. words.
seren has known many weapons in their lifetime, wielded and suffered, but not all remembered. wands and rifles fit easily into their hands, and somehow the weight of a mace did too. really, though, all of those came second. they could do so much with a thought, crush, splinter, pierce. use peoples’ phantasmal insides to break their tangible outsides. it was... rather unnerving when anyone else thought about it for too long.
-
MATERIALS
gold. silver. platinum. titanium. diamonds. pearls. rubies. sapphires. emeralds. amethyst. metal. iron. rust. steel. glass. wood. porcelain. paper. wool. fur. lace. leather. silk. velvet. denim. linen. cotton. charcoal. clay. stone. asphalt. brick. marble. dust. glitter. blood. dirt. mud. smoke. ash. shadow. carbonate. rubber. synthetics.
seren’s mind makes itself out of wool and paper, out of iron and cloth and clay. it comes out in the weaving of wool, the scratching of lyrics on paper, the rush of breath through an ocarina. they collect rocks with their hands and dirt with their feet, and their days are segmented by iron weapons and cookware alike. the watcher is made up of many things, but most of all, themself.
-
NATURE + WEATHER
grass. leaves. trees. bark. roses. daisies. tulips. lavender. sunflowers. petals. thorns. seeds. hay. sand. rocks. roots. flowers. ocean. river. meadow. forest. desert. tundra. savanna. rainforest. caves. underwater. coral reef. beach. waves. space. clouds. mountains. poppies. galaxies. stardust. sky. rain. storm. sunny.
a child of the earth, a child of nature, they appreciate everything they can get from it. plants, trees and flowers and crops are petted as seren passes by. barefoot, they dig their toes into grass and dirt and sand alike, reveling in the texture. they lie on beaches and meadows, watching what the sky has to offer at any time of day.
-
ANIMALS + MYTHICAL CREATURES
lions. wolves. eagles. owls. falcons. hawks. swans. snakes. turtles + tortoises. bugs. spiders. doves. robins. ducks. vultures. whales. dolphins. fish. octopus. sharks. horses. cats. dogs. rabbits. hares. crows. ravens. mice. lizards. unicorns. pegasus. dragons. rats. livestock. tigers. panthers. deer. foxes. bats. bears. crocodiles + alligators. coyotes. seals + sea lions
seren knows of many animals, but only has experience with a few. they know stories of falcons and snakes and turtles and panthers, but does not remember learning them. caring for cats and rabbits and chickens is much the same, during the few occasions they help a local corral their livestock. the one that always makes them light up, though, their favorite, were bats. as dusk fell, they’d watch the diminutive shadows flitting from tree to tree, grinning and pointing them out to whoever was with them.
-
FOOD + DRINK
sugar. salt. bitter. candy. bubblegum. wine. champagne. hard liquor. beer. coffee. tea. soda. spices. herbs. apple. orange. lemon. cherry. strawberry. watermelon. vegetables. fruits. meat. fish. pies. desserts. chocolate. cream. caramel. berries. nuts. cinnamon. burgers. burritos. pizza. french fries.
fruits and meats and grains are their favorites, preferring savory and sweet. humming happily at the taste of honey glazed hen, sharing orange slices with whoever happened by on deck, flapping their hands at the spiciness of fire kelp but going back for more, crunching on candied nuts as they peruse the shops of queen’s berth. to them, food is very much a joy, and something to be shared.
-
HOBBIES
music. art. watercolors. gardening/growing plants. smithing. sculpting. painting. sketching. fighting. writing. composing. cooking. sewing. training. dancing. acting. singing. martial arts. self-defense. electronics. technology. cameras. video cameras. video games. computer. phone. movies. theater. libraries. books. comic books. magazines. cds. records. vinyls. cassettes. piano. violin. guitar. electric guitar. bass guitar. harmonica. harp. woodwinds. brass. bells. playing cards. poker chips. chess. dice. motorcycle riding. flight. climbing. running. swimming. healing/medicine.
they like everything surrounding music and the fiber arts, but there are other things, too. sparring with friends is something they enjoy, light fare to make days sailing more interesting. reading books, both fiction and non to pass the time in a gentler way, card games similarly when they want to spend that time with people. neither they nor their crew puts on theater, but in ports, seren loves stopping to watch, enjoying the story and the questionable acting skills in equal measure. being the herald of berath and the hound of eothas does not allow excessive room for hobbies, but they make time anyways.
-
STYLE
lingerie. armor. cape. dress. tunic. vest. shirt. sweater. boots. heels. leggings. trousers. jeans. skirt. jewelry. earrings. necklace. bracelet. ring. pendant. hat. crown. circlet. helmet. scarf. brocade. cloaks. corsets. doublet. chest plate. gorget. bracers. belt. sash. coat. jacket. duster. trenchcoat. hood. gloves. socks. masks. cowls. braces. watches. glasses. sunglasses. eye contacts. makeup. ties. uniform.
a brigandine and cape, forest green, sky blue, and white, are their battle armor, heavy but maneuverable. it is what they choose to wear for the necessity of it, but outside of battle it is not something they’d choose. they favor light shirts and tunics, open necklines and half sleeves, pants cut at the knee, secured with a sash that flutters after them when they run. an item cherished is their cape, the cape of the fallen star, that surrounds them in the beauty of the night sky and makes them a sight to remember on the few occasions they wear it.
-
MISC.
balloons. bubbles. cityscape. light. dark. candles. war. peace. money. power. clocks. photos. mirrors. pets. kisses. diary. fairy lights. mental health problems. sadness. bittersweet. happiness. optimism. pessimism. loneliness. family. friends. assistants. co-workers. enemies. loyalty. smoking. drugs. kindness. love. hugs. revenge.
seren is kind. kind, and light, and optimistic. their task is a heavy one, tense, and worrying, and precarious, so they do what they can to bring light, to show kindness against the uncertainty of the world.

✵ Genre: Fluff, Hybrid!au
✵ Pairings: Wolf Hybrid!Namjoon, Bear Hybrid! Reader
✵ A/N: Sorry for the long wait guys, hopefully you'll enjoy this!
Ever since the law saw a drastic change in regards of how those amazing creatures who take the name of hybrids should be treated, every school, workplace or house opened their doors and gave them the possibility to live just like how any human being should.
Of course, just like in every society, there were close-minded people against this change, who believed that hybrids were nothing more than animals changed in laboratories, but the most part wasn’t like this.
Those who attacked or mistreated hybrids of any kind faced strict punishments and ended up in jail if the crime was big enough.
Associations fought for the right of those few hybrids left without freedom, but other than those cases the situation wasn’t that bad.
Schools even started to hand out college scholarships to hybrids who couldn’t afford a proper education, giving them the possibility to get a proper degree and, later on, a job that could earn them money
That was exactly what happened with Namjoon, and how he found himself moving from his small city placed near the woods, to a farther one – ready to frequent the college of his dreams.
Even though the law changed, wolf hybrids were faced with a couple of problems, along with other predator hybrids who, sometimes, were treated like they could be dangerous.
Namjoon was aware of that, and tried to act and look like the most peaceful and kind hybrid on earth, hoping to escape any mistreatment.
He wasn’t loud, he stayed by himself and he studied hard – spending his evening at the library rather than at parties with other teens.
He always got perfect scores and his teachers loved him because of how hard working he was.
Thanks to that, around the end of his final year in high school, one of Namjoon’s favourite teachers helped him get in contact with the secretary of a prestigious college.
No one was impressed when the admission letter came to his house, in the end the wolf hybrid was known for his high IQ and the amount of study he went through for this moment to happen – but Namjoon wasn’t sure of the result.
He feared that once they found out about what kind of hybrid he was, they wouldn’t let him in.
But, as he then saw, that was not the case.
The day Namjoon moved in his new dorm, he discovered that he actually had a roommate and it was a grumpy cat hybrid called Yoongi.
He was quiet and liked to stay by himself, but he greeted him with a smile on his face when they first introduced each other.
It was awkward at first, especially because Namjoon tended to look for a pack, meanwhile the cat hybrid hated to stay in the same room of more than two people, but he eventually warmed up when Namjoon became friends with other hybrids that he than introduced to him.
The six hybrids became Namjoon’s pack around the first month of college, and he couldn’t get happier than that.
✥✥✥✥
“Are you sure you don’t want to come? You always say no whenever we ask you out.” Taehyung, a fox hybrid with bright red hair and expressive eyes, pouted while grabbing Namjoon’s shirt while whining.
“I have an exam tomorrow, I can’t go out tonight. Why don’t you just hang out without me?” He asked with a small chuckle to the hybrid that was now sitting on the floor.
“Jungkook always leaves me alone when we go and party out, he always flexes around girls as if he was a lion hybrid or something.” Taehyung answered, talking about his best friend as if he was not in the same room.
“That’s not even true.” Jungkook scoffed, looking at the fox from the bed where he was sitting.
“Yeah it is. You’re a bunny Jungkook not a predator. Deal with it.” The two of them continued to bicker while Namjoon stuffed his bag with books that he knew would be useful for his study session.
Yoongi was purring asleep on his bed, while Hoseok, a Labrador-Golden Retriever mix hybrid, played with his tail ignoring the words of discomfort that the cat had said only a couple of minutes before. He always tried to push other people away, but Hoseok knew that he needed a little bit of affection sometimes, and he was the only one who could actually touch Yoongi without earning hisses in response.
Jimin was also a cat hybrid like Yoongi, but a rather sweeter one. He liked to cuddle and play around with the others, sleeping only when he didn’t have any energy to play.
He was looking at the two hybrids bicker while eating the meal that Jin, the older tiger hybrid had prepared for him when he said that he was hungry.
“Are you going to the library?” Jin asked, leaning against the wall and ignoring the insults that Taehyung and Jungkook were throwing at each other.
Namjoon nodded, putting on a coat before picking up his bag.
“Yeah, here it’s a bit noisy.” He said looking at the others and making Jin chuckle.
“See you.” Namjoon said, looking back at his pack before heading out and close the door of his dorm.
✥✥✥✥
The warmth of the library’s heating helped Namjoon defrost his hands, that December’s cold weather had made numb, and with a small sigh, he greeted the lady that sat at the information desk before taking a sit on a table that no one had yet to occupy.
Looking around, Namjoon saw many other hybrids and human students that wrote on their notebooks, or that read books with a highlighter in their hand.
Maybe it was because he grew up spending most of his free time in libraries, but Namjoon seemed to find himself inside one every time he sought peace or comfort.
The smell of books, the sound of paper when a page of a book turned, it relaxed him like nothing else.
Putting his bag on the table, Namjoon started to take the books that he had out, ready to study for the test of philosophy that he was so eager to get over with when a sudden noise caught his attention.
Looking up from the table, he narrowed his eyes at the sight of a girl kneeled on the floor busy picking up a couple of books that she had accidently drop in the aisle full of historical novels.
She was wearing thick clothes and a beanie covered her head.
Her face was red, probably because of the cold outside and she was nibbling nervously on her lip while she got back to her feet.
He tried to take in her scent, to see if you were human or a hybrid just like him, because the beanie made it impossible to see what ears were under it – that’s when you look up.
Your eyes locked with his and you froze on the spot before hugging your books tightly around your chest and walking in front of his table, heading outside of the library without looking at him again.
It was then, when you walked near him, that the strong smell of suppressant came to his nose.
✥✥✥✥
After that unusual encounter, Namjoon couldn’t get you out of his head.
Why would anyone take suppressant to hide their smell, he could tell that the type you were using wasn’t for a heat, because the smell was very distinct.
You were trying to hide your real scent, and that made it impossible to identify your type.
“She is probably taking an enormous quantity of suppressants.” Namjoon said to Yoongi, laying on his bed with arms under his head.
“Was she wearing a beanie?” He asked and Namjoon’s ears peaked up.
“How do you know?” He muttered confused, turning his head to face the cat hybrid who had his eyes closed.
“I think I know who you’re talking about. She’s Y/N. I have her in my history class.”
The days after that, Namjoon started to pick up Yoongi from class, hoping to see you once again.
The cat hybrid seemed unbothered by the wolf’s new habit of waiting for him outside of class, yet he couldn’t help but smirk every time he saw him looking at you with dreamy and curious eyes when you Stood up from your desk to gather all your stuff ready to leave.
“Close your mouth dog, you’re drooling.” He chuckled, before grabbing Namjoon’s arm and pulling him away from the doorframe.
To him it was like a torture, smelling the air around you hoping to sense something, and then smelling nothing other than suppressants – a smell that by now he had started to hate more than anything else.
You always had a beanie to cover up your ears, he always saw you by yourself and Namjoon’s instincts kept telling him to go up to you, throw the beanie away and mark you as his to bring you inside of his pack.
He didn’t know if the interest in you was caused by the curiosity of discovering what you were, or by the infatuation that he felt since the moment you two locked eyes. It was almost an unexplainable attraction that was slowly making him go insane.
“Maybe she’s your mate. I know that wolves believe in that kind of thing.” Jimin said as Namjoon and his friends ate at the cafeteria.
He had felt the need to tell everything to the boys before Yoongi could do it to make fun of him, but they were more than understanding to him.
“I don’t know, I wouldn’t know because she takes too many suppressants, I need to smell her real scent for once.” He grumbled, playing with his food while holding his head with his hand.
“Don’t play with your food. How old are you? Four?” Jin nagged slapping Namjoon’s hand lightly and the wolf sighed, laying down the spoon.
“I’m sorry I just…I don’t know I just can’t get her off my mind. I’ve been thinking about her for weeks now and I don’t understand why.” He cried out and Hoseok laughed.
“For being the smartest hybrid of the whole planet, you’re pretty dumb.” Jungkook said and the others chuckled.
“You like her, it’s not that difficult to understand.” Jimin said and Namjoon looked at him for a couple of seconds before going back to his food.
“I guess you’re right…” He muttered, but Taehyung’s sudden excitement recalled his attention from the food.
“You know what you should do? Come to the party with us tonight! You’ll have fun and you can also take your mind off for a couple of hours!” Namjoon thought about it for a bit.
“I don’t think it’s a bad idea.”
✥✥✥✥
It was definitely a bad idea.
As soon as he went inside the house were the party was held, Namjoon felt a mixture of scents that made his head spin.
He could tell that there were hybrids of all kinds inside the house, and humans to no end.
Some hybrids were even in heat, but he had enough control to walk away from whoever threw himself at him.
People were smoking, drinking, dancing and just making a mess.
The boys where nowhere to be seen, except from Yoongi who had decided to stay at the dorm and Hoseok who opted for staying there with him.
Namjoon found himself alone after an hour inside the house and, feeling his ears hurt because of the loud music, he decided to just stay outside and take a look around.
To his surprise, he wasn’t the only one who had that idea and his blood almost froze when he saw you sitting on the grass outside the house.
He stayed still for a moment, unsure of what to do, but she seemed to notice that someone was looking at her and turned around.
“Hi.” Namjoon muttered, before wanting to slap himself in the face for the awkwardness.
You hesitated before replying back.
“Hi.”
“Do you mind me being here? I can find another place if you want.” The wolf asked, feeling his ears twitch in embarrassment and she hesitated once again.
Namjoon took it as a sign that she wanted to stay by herself and turned around, ready to go back inside, but her voice came to his ears.
“You can stay, I don’t mind.”
Smiling faintly at the sweet sound of her voice, Namjoon took place beside her and sat on the grass.
The smell of suppressants was still strong but he sensed something else about you, a strong aura.
“My name is Namjoon.” He introduced himself to you and gave you a hand to shake.
You replied with a smile and shook it back.
“I’m Y/N.”
He felt like he was in heaven just by staying next to you. Maybe the boys weren’t wrong about the whole mate thing.
“I see you also don’t enjoy partying that much.” She chuckled and Namjoon nodded.
“My friend forced me to come.” She added and he listened with attention, feeling like this was a moment to remember.
“My friends left me by myself, plus I don’t really like the whole atmosphere neither.” This was her time to nod and a small moment of silence resounded between the two of them.
Namjoon didn’t know what was happening inside his head at the moment, but for some kind of reason he felt like the control that he was so proud of having disappeared.
“I really like you.” He blurted out and you widened your eyes at the sudden outburst.
“I’m sorry, I know that its soon and we literally just met but I remember when I saw you at the library and…I don’t know, something inside me just snapped.” You looked at his embarrassed face for a bit, not knowing what to said before speaking up.
“I don’t even know you.” You smiled at him as those words came out of your mouth and he smiled back, chuckling lightly.
“I’m Namjoon, I just moved here this hear from a city that no one knows and that was nice for me only because it has nice woods. I’m a wolf hybrid although I don’t act like it, I’m nice and I’ve never acted like a predator before in my life. I never get mad and I try to be sweet to everyone I know.  I prefer sour over sweet and, although I’m a wolf, I prefer fish over meat. I can’t stay alone for too much time and I have my own pack formed of other six hybrids. I was a loser when I was younger because I refused to go out with other kids, I studied and I basically lived inside my school’s library. I feel calm when I’m inside one and I love the smell of books because they remind me of home. That’s why I felt my heart flutter when I first saw you, you felt like home too even though I’ve never saw you before.” You smiled widely as he talked about himself and you felt your heart warmer when he confessed what he felt about you. Namjoon felt lightly scared when he finished talking, and you could smell that from him.
“Nice to meet you Namjoon.” You chuckled, looking at his eyes glitter.
“Would you like to maybe, go out for a coffee tomorrow?” You asked him and he widened his smile, nodding at your question.
“I need to go now but, I’ll see you tomorrow after class.” You stood up from the grass, holding your beanie before smiling back at him once again and walking away from where you were sitting before – leaving Namjoon starstrucked.
✥✥✥✥
“So you have a date?” Taehyung asked and Namjoon stuttered.
“I-I don’t know. She just said that we should meet up but maybe she doesn’t intend it like that.”
“Dude you literally confessed your love to her after you met her, another girl would have run away as far as possible.” Jungkook joked, but Namjoon didn’t feel like smiling back.
“Maybe I went overboard, I don’t know I feel like she just did it to be nice.” He muttered and Hoseok looked down at his watch.
“Well, History class finished two minutes ago, you should hurry up.”
Widening his eyes, Namjoon started to cuss and he ran out of the dorm – leaving his pack’s laughs behind.
He hurried down the corridors of the college, ready to greet you outside of class and hoping that you’d still be waiting for him in front of the door, but the scene in front of him wasn’t quite what he was expecting.
You were there, but you weren’t alone and those guys around you didn’t look like they were your friends.
“C’mon, just take the damn hat off.” One of them snapped and Namjoon recognized him from his calculus class, he was a hybrid as well – a dog one.
“Go away.” You struggled to walk away from them, having another one to block you from moving away.
“I can smell your suppressants from miles away, are you that disgusted of being a hybrid? Take this fucking beanie off.” Namjoon felt his blood boil at what those fuckers were saying, so he decided that for once, he should’ve followed his instincts.
“Hey!” He called out for them and walked towards you.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” The dog hybrid laughed, already knowing who Namjoon was.
“Namjoon just piss off, you might ruin your sweet façade.” He laughed but a low growl from Namjoon’s throat made him widen his eyes.
“Go away before I snap your throat.” He growled and you looked at him in shock.
Namjoon’s authority made the others back off, feeling victims of his dominance, and they left you alone in seconds.
“I..” You tried to speak, feeling far too overwhelmed.
“I thought you said that you’ve never act like a predator.” You said looking at him in the eyes.
“Are you okay?” He ignored your words and took your hand in his.
“C’mon.” He pulled you out of the corridor, walking outside of the school and he seated you in a bench, taking place next to you.
“Maybe you need to take a bit of fresh air.” He said sweetly and you nodded, not used to this amount of care.
“I was in a shelter as a child.” You said and he looked at you surprised.
“What?”
“They kept me in a shelter and I got freed only when I was sixteen.” You said, now looking at him in the eyes.
“I don’t…” Namjoon muttered and you cut him with your words.
“It’s the reason why I hide my ears and my scent. I was scared of being found again.” You confessed and he seemed to understand more.
“I thought that shelters were considered illegal.”
“They are, they found a way to hide me and keep me and other hybrids away from pro-hybrid associations.” You said and you felt Namjoon’s hand caressing your own.
“I just grew feeling embarrassed of it, I wanted to be treated normally.” You continued, feeling teary eyed and Namjoon scoot closer to you – wrapping his tail around your leg in comfort.
“You’re free now. You don’t have to be scared of who you are.” He said slowly, keeping his hands on your own and you sniffled.
Moving your hands on your hat, you slowly took off your beanie – revealing your ears to Namjoon who looked at them stunningly.
“Can I?” You nodded and with a hand, he caressed them with care and delicacy.
“What are you?” He asked and you smiled at his surprised face.
“A bear.” Saying it felt like taking off a massive weight from your shoulders.
For a moment you felt scared of his reaction, but you relaxed when his words came out of his mouth.
“You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” He muttered and, feeling like it was the best thing to do, you slowly cupped his face and leaned in gently, and kissed his warms lips - feeling a rush of adrenaline in your whole body.
Namjoon moved his hands around your waist and he held you closer, kissing you back and squeezing lightly your side.
He didn’t need to smell your scent to know that you were his mate.

Arriving fashionably late to the party, I’m joining this KAL! When your not on the up and up on the knitting community things like this can slip by as they often do. Not this one!
Oh, and hi! I have a new laptop! At last!
Tumblr media
I’m sorry! Laptops and phone plans are expensive and I’m poor. I’ve missed being on here. But let’s put that behind us.
I’ve been catching up on my Youtube feeds and this was among them: MarlyBird’s My First Sweater. Now this isn’t my first sweater but it is different from the other four I’ve knitted. There’s no evidence of the first two and that’s a good thing believe me.
So the Hygge Charm yarn this sweater is made with is being processed and should be here the beginning of next week. Fashionably late, I may have mentioned. SO, I’ll be cramming two weeks into one to catch up to this KAL but no biggie.
Marly Bird has more info on her blog here: https://marlybird.com/announcing-the-2019-spring-kal-with-marly-bird-and-red-heart/
I’m so excited!
Also, I know I promised pictures of what I had been making since a while ago and I’ve got them!
Tumblr media
Ok first up, This little bunny is made of felt and I made up the pattern myself. She still needs eyes and I think I’ll have to make them from felt also, I tried buttons they weren’t working out.
Tumblr media
Now these two are also from felt and cloth. I got the pattern from Purl Soho here: https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2009/04/08/mimi-kirchners-hand-sewn-felt-doll/
The faces are blank on purpose. Maybe future dolls will speak to me.
Tumblr media
Here’s a little scarecrow shelf ami from Allaboutami: https://www.allaboutami.com/scarecrowpattern/
Her’s is super cute but I was feeling the Batman villain Scarecrow vibe in the Fall as I was making him and leaned a bit that way. The pig ami is also my own pattern which I didn’t write down I just realized. Still unfinished, but it’s a nice blank.
Tumblr media
The blanket is from my crochet stitches book and the yarn is acrylic and hemp from Hobby Lobby. At first I thought it was good enough for a home decor kind of yarn, but after washing it and snuggling on the couch with it, I think it would be a decent sweater yarn too. The hemp bits give a rustic look but they’re not prickly or rough as I had first thought they would I was working on the blanket.
It’s actually quite soft.
That is a spring/summer top I’m working on with Fresh Haven (also Hobby Lobby) from Purl Soho’s Over-the-top Top: https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2015/05/22/over-the-top-top/
I’ve been learning all kinds of new techniques these last couple of months and I’m very happy with the projects that I’ve been able to make.
Tumblr media
Isn’t she cute?! Foxes were such a Fall staple that I couldn’t not make one myself. I even made her a jacket with a fun and cute monogram!
Tumblr media
I’ve been getting an inkling to make a bear amigurumi next. We’ll see.
Tumblr media
The hat and fingerless glove set are from a Noro issue I can’t find--it’s from last year Fall or Winter. The gloves were inspired by the hat and I used Lion Brand Landscapes in a now discontinued colorway. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on them but BUT the yarn isn’t great. It feathers...not quite a pill but a pulling and it wears out quickly. Makes me sad.
The dragon is from Once Upon a Crochet Ever After that I borrowed from my library but didn’t finish before the book was due. ( It was Christmas and I had other projects too!)This little guy needs his horns and wings and a button. Why a button? Because he’s a neck warmer!
Tumblr media
(ba-dum tss! I am not funny).
Moving on.
Tumblr media
A hat and scarf set. The pattern is from men’s crochet winter set that I borrowed to make the hat have texture and the scarf is all chains. Just a long, long, long, long chain. And pom poms!
Tumblr media
The scarf is also LB Landscapes and also feathers but less than its black and white counter part. The snowflake hat was fun and I finished it in a day. The pattern is also from Crochet Ever After and is also made with the same yarn I used for my rustic blanket (Yarn Bee Rustic Romantic). Also comfy. The rainbow hat is a 2019 is a stash buster using Purl Soho’s Classic Cuffed Hat sans pom pom: https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2014/10/22/classic-cuffed-hat/
Tumblr media
This is my second to latest 2019 project (the newest is in progress on the blanket I showed you, the hat was in between). It needs to be blocked but otherwise it’s done! It is my first top-down sweater using the Brick pattern by Clare Lee on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/brick-2
I went for a V-neck and quarter sleeves as well as a stagard break line from one solor to the other. It was quick and fun. I think it took about two weeks give or take a day that I didn’t work on it. One of my fastest projects yet. Winter is not wanting to let us go here in the south so I used the weather to my advantage and cranked this one out. Yay!
However, I’m tired of grey even though I didn’t make any grey things but this and I blame the weather. Oh, wait. I actually harvested this yarn from a sweater I was making in November 2018 but didn’t swatch (that’s a no-no) and it was so many sizes bigger on me. I was too stubborn to frog it when I had the chance and finished the body when reality Gibbs-smacked me upside the head and...
Tumblr media
<__<;    >___>        Look a DIY!
Tumblr media
Another 2019 project: I took a pair of jeans I ruined in a painting experiment and finally did up-cycled them! I have been watching a couple of sewists? seamstresses? on Youtube and got my courage and a free day and went to work on it. It took most of the day but I’m proud of how this turned out. I just need the weather to cooperate so I can wear it outside.
Also this 2019 (in February), this lovely sweater in acrylic and alpaca.
Tumblr media
I learned the “tubular” cast on for this one!
Tumblr media
...
(Still not funny. Never mind.)  It’s my first raglan sweater that I also had to remake because the first one was too short and since it was made from the bottom up...At least the sleeves and the hem were done so it was another quick do-over.
Aaaand that covers it. Whew! You made it this far so give yourself a pat on the back and get a treat.
I’ve picked up a little bit of sewing to add to my crafty repertoire and I like it. I don’t see it becoming a constant like crochet and sewing but it’s definitely more fun than I remember it being in Home Ec class back in the day.
Besides the spring top I’m working on and the arrival of yarn for the Marly Bird KAL, I’m brainstorming something for Mermay...We’ll see how much I can handle, though by then the KAL should be over.

Episode 11 Guess List
Alex’s Guess 1: It’s a person, but it’s like a werewolf kinda. Maybe like a cat, not like a furry though. Maybe like an anthro. They’ve got a big blue tail with some grey fuzz at the end and big grey furry ears coming out of their head, but they're wearing normal clothes, but they’re crawling around on all fours for some reason, but they’re really human. They look really weird and they’re in a forest.
Mason’s image: A dude wearing blue jeans and boots and he’s walking through a forest and he shapeshifts into a fox.
-
Mason’s Guess 1: A golden eagle and he is soaring over the plains and you just see from his view and he’s looking down and sees all of the plain animals like the lions and the elephants and the giraffes and he flies down and he just perches very gently on top of the giraffe’s head. The giraffe is just like “that’s cool, brah”
Alex’s image: A flame-gate that marks the border into a desert plain. You can see coyotes and shit playing around out in the plain.
-
Alex’s Guess 2: Little tiny mole people, but instead of having a degenerate mole society, they have a thriving mole society. Very nice, very flapper-esque. Little mole ladies in little mole hats and little mole dudes in little mole bowlers. They’re just living their lives in their little mole Manhattan. Drinking little mole cosmos.
Mason’s image: A spider. You’re just walking along, and all of a sudden boom! A SPIDER! Instead of all the eyes, it just has three eyes. It’s just looking around and then all of a sudden they just lock on to you.
-
Mason’s Guess 2: A good old country jug band. There’s one dude with the banjo, another dude’s got the jug that he blows into, another dude’s got the washboard
Alex’s image: A shag rug with a distorted cat face on it. The rug is puce green and the cat is just a grey tabby cat
-
Alex’s Guess 3: Lemon wallpaper on a lemon wall.
Mason’s image: One of those Instagram filters (or something like that) that just keeps putting your face on things. One of those that transforms your face into a traditional yellow smiley face, then it zooms out and the smiley face is the WORLD.
-
Mason’s Guess 3: A doughnut store, but everything in there, all the names are literal. So the bear claws are actual bear claws. The long johns are just long johns. They’re folded neatly with the butt flap on display. Apple fritters are apple potatoes. The lady asks you if you want some doughnut holes and when you say yes she just gives you a bag of air.
Alex’s image: A cathedral, but it’s a tree house! People in their Sunday best climbing up the rickety rope ladder. A little boy wearing a crepe paper priest’s robe  is the preacher. When he passes around the offering plate he asks for a piece of candy and when the sermon is over people slide down the fireman’s pole to leave the tree house cathedral.
