I always thought killing Gaston in Beauty and Beast was an odd choice.  A story which is centered around learning, growth, and not taking things at face value has its resolution just kill the main antagonist. (The entire rest of the town sure gave up real quick afterwards, huh?) Gaston never got to realize he was wrong and he got to escape the consequences of his actions.  It seems like a waste of potential. I want Gaston alive; scarred, hurt, scared, humiliated, but alive. I want him to learn. I want him to have to recognize his mistakes and try to make up for them.
