Word Count: 3,300
Content and Warnings: snz (male), NSFW
In which Oraion accompanies his Mistress Noelle to study dusty, old arcane tomes at a library, with predictable results.
----------------------------
The Tigate Librarium had stood in the central square of Tigate City for so long, no one was certain anymore if the Librarium was named for the City, or the City for the Librarium. What was certain, however, was that the current Head Librarian, Ms Ogtrop, was both the most efficient and organized Head the Librarium had ever employed, and also its most terrifying.
At six foot three, it was uncommon, though not entirely unheard of, for Demon Lord Oraion Leroux to meet those of his height or slightly taller. Encountering a mortal he needed to crane his neck to look at, though, was about as common as convincing a lindwyrm to play fetch, so the fact that he needed to tilt his head a fair degree to make eye contact with the Head Librarian was a novel, if somewhat unnerving, experience. The green cast of her skin and short tusks jutting from her lower lip only added to the singularity of the encounter. A full-blooded orc was a rare sight these days.
“Those books are on the second floor, Section B, fifth row, third bookcase, shelves four through seven. All books in that Section are restricted, and as such can neither be checked out nor leave the Librarium. Is that clear?”
“As crystal, ma’am.”
“Good. And if you think for a moment that you could possibly get away with smuggling any volumes out… Don’t. I will know. I always know.”
Oraion did his best to appear as a physical manifestation of conciliation. “Wouldn’t dream of it, ma’am.”
“Good.” The Librarian paused and took a moment to look Oraion up and down with her golden eyes. “My shift ends at eight o’clock, by the way.”
This, at least, was more familiar territory. Throughout his long life, Oraion had turned down countless hopefuls, though this time he had to admit he was tempted. The thighs that peeked out below the hem of Ogtrop’s skirt—the cut of which was painfully inadequate at fulfilling any sort of intended modesty on her towering frame—looked like they’d crack a watermelon like a walnut. A night with her promised to leave you with bruises and bite marks—and you’d thank her for the privilege. Instead Oraion inclined his head with grace.
“You flatter me, madam, but I am afraid I must decline. I am already spoken for.”
“Hm. Pity. However, your integrity is laudable. Well then, please note that eight o’clock is also when the Librarium closes, so you would do well to conclude your business before then.”
“Of course. Thank you so much for your help.”
“Yes, yes. Now, if you will excuse me, I have business to attend to.”
The imposing Librarian turned on her heel and marched off, her heavy footfalls reverberating through the floor with a rhythmic beat. Oraion’s gaze lingered just a moment on the way her full hips moved, then he returned to where his Mistress, Noelle Violette, waited by the entrance, wringing the end of her scarf.
“Were you able to find anything out?”
“I was indeed. The Head Librarian gave me the location of the arcane tomes you’re looking for—come, I’ll show you where they are.”
He guided Noelle to where Ms Ogtrop had indicated, passing along the rules for the handling of restricted books as they went.
“They can't be checked out? I suppose that makes sense, but… Augh, that means I'll only have a few hours to study them! I was hoping to take them back to the inn with us tonight and then bring them back before we leave to go home tomorrow…”
Oraion chuckled. “And did this plan of yours involve any sleep?”
A light blush of pink came to Noelle’s fair cheeks. “Well, some I’m sure, but this is a rare opportunity! I could always catch up on sleep later. Besides, that won’t matter if I can’t check them out. I’ll just have to use the time I do have wisely.”
Row after row of shelves were stuffed with a multitude of tomes. The air was laced with the scent of old paper and leather. Once they located the desired shelves, Noelle browsed through the volumes, pointing out a number of titles with great interest and enthusiasm.
“Oh! Look at this! They have a first edition copy of Nolan Kingston’s The Grimoire of Stars! And these scrolls—they’re from Tsothatan’s Noth-Yngath Esoterica! Just look at all of these: Artum Codex, Librum of Ninai, The Book of Far Realms— Oh my goodness, they have a copy of Tome of the Watcher! After it was published, the author Soth Sholei disappeared, and no one ever found out what happened to them!”
As she babbled excitedly about the texts, she handed book after book to Oraion until he was carrying a sizable, and somewhat heavy, stack. He couldn’t help but notice a thin layer of dust on most of them. Just the thought of it made his nose twitch. A smirk tugged his lips: perhaps this little study session wouldn’t be as boring as he’d feared.
“Mistress, I think perhaps this is enough to get started, at least. In fact, I’m not convinced you’ll be able to get through all of these before the Librarium closes.”
Noelle gave a little start, like she was waking up from a dream. “Oh! You’re right, I-I’m so sorry. Let’s find somewhere to sit down.”
Nearby were long, oaken tables surrounded by a large number of stout chairs with plush seats, all of which were presently vacant. The entire section of the Librarium they were in appeared quite deserted. Oraion carefully placed the stack of books on the table and took a seat next to Noelle, pulling his chair against hers. There were no arm rests, so they were close enough to touch, especially if Oraion leaned in.
“I hope you don’t mind if I read a bit over your shoulder? There might be something I can help with, after all.”
“Oh, um, a-all right.”
He ducked his head so his lips were close to her ear and dropped his voice.
“Always nice to have one’s nose in a good book.” He brushed the tip of his nose against the outer edge of her ear for emphasis. He felt a shiver run through her.
“Oraion, I-I don’t think now is the time…”
“Oh, of course, Mistress. My apologies. I wouldn’t want to disrupt your studies. Shall we begin?”
He took the tome from the top of the stack and placed it on the table in front of them.
“The Book of Sorcery. A fairly straightforward title.”
He flipped open the dusty manuscript with a flourish and probably a bit more force than was strictly necessary. In the light of the arcane reading lamps that hovered above the table, little globes of light encased within intricate brass cages, he caught a shimmer of swirling dust particles. Things were bound to get interesting now.
“So, Mistress, what would you like to review?”
“Hm, let me check the table of contents.”
As his Mistress pored over the book’s pages, Oraion felt a feathery flutter ripple through his sinuses, making his nose scrunch slightly. He said nothing, of course, but kept an eye on Noelle’s reaction. She hadn’t noticed yet, so he ran a finger beneath his septum and drew in a quick, sharp sniffle. Noelle’s leg against his own went tense for a second—she was definitely paying attention now. Oraion tried not to let his satisfaction show on his countenance.
“Um, m-maybe this section on conjuration? I would really, uh, like to know more about how you’re able to conjure things, you know, so easily.”
“Ah, you mean like this?” With a grin he held up his left hand and snapped his fingers, summoning his handkerchief. After all, he was going to need it shortly.
“Y-yes, like that.” Oraion noticed that Noelle’s gaze flicked from the cloth in his hand to his face, and back. He had a feeling he knew exactly what she was looking for in his face. As that feathery feeling intensified, he was certain his nose would be flushing pink soon, if it hadn’t started already.
“Well, the truth is -snf- that I don’t actually, ah, c-conjure anything. -sniff- I merely summoned it. I—” It was growing difficult to keep his breathing steady, and his eyes were beginning to water as his eyelids fluttered. Still, he could quite clearly see the pretty blush forming beneath Noelle’s freckles on her cheeks, along with the blossoming arousal he sensed within her. She squirmed in her seat.
“O-Oraion…”
“Oh dear, h-how terribly inconvenient. -sndf- These old b-books: they muh-must be du- heh- dusty…”
Below the table, he ran his right hand up her leg, squeezing her thigh while at the same time he pressed the handkerchief to his nose.
“ih-hiih- … hiihh! hiiHH’ISSHIUU!”
Through his hand on her leg he could feel the little jolt of pleasure and excitement she felt. He didn’t often get the chance to tease her in public like this. It made her titillation all the sweeter, the tinge of embarrassment she felt. She might not openly admit it, might even outright deny it or grow annoyed with him, but she could not hide from him that it got her even hotter.
“Oraion! S-stop that!”
“Y-you know I can’t heh-help it, Mistress. It’s the- the- eh-heh-heh! mmnh- the dust- HEHHSHIU!”
Noelle looked around nervously.
“B-but, you’re being loud! We’re in a library!”
He leaned in and nuzzled her earlobe, even as he felt another buzzing prickle building.
“Afraid we might gehehht in t-trouble? -snnff- hehh-hehhehh!”
“Y-yes!”
Oh, but she tasted so sweet like this. Gods, he would fuck her right here on the table if she wanted, library rules and propriety be damned. She would never go for that, of course, but that didn’t stop him from imagining it. Just how wound up could he get her, he wondered? He attempted the herculean task of holding back the itch that burned in his sinuses.
“B-but Mistress, you know heh-HEH! nngh- h-how teh-terribly ah-haahhllergic I am to du-dust. I ca-can’t hehhehhelp how sne- sne- sneezy it meh-makes me…”
He kept his nose touching her ear as his nares flared, letting her feel every twitch. As he did so, he slid his hand further up her thigh, pressing his fingers between her legs. He couldn’t last much longer, and if he had anything to say about it, neither would she.
“Th-the m-more I heh-heh! hold bahaahck, the w-worse it g-gets!” He gave a particularly wet sniffle right next to her ear. “Oh no- I-I’m guh- gonna- ehh-heh! M-Mistress, I n-need to sneeze!”
Certain he was about to incur the wrath of Ms Ogtrop, Oraion could not stop his chest from heaving as his nose crinkled.
“hiihhhIIHHhhh!”
With a little sound of desperation Noelle leapt up and grabbed his head, shoving his face directly into her chest and holding him there by hugging him with both arms. The fabric of her blouse pressed against his face, with his nose squeezed directly between her soft breasts. His hands found her hips, and he grabbed hold as the tickle overtook him.
“hhhchhfff! hh-isshhh! nnn… hhih- hii-hhssshhiuh! aeshhiu! … eh! … heh! … hehh-CHSSHT! CHSSHT! HISSHHHTT!”
What would have normally been a powerful and vocal fit was instead muffled and subdued as Noelle wrestled it into submission with the luscious mounds of her chest. Once Oraion’s sneezing subsided, she relented and loosened her death grip on his head, allowing him to at last come up for air. He looked up at her standing over him as he sat back, sniffling wetly. Her entire face was flushed a lovely bright scarlet—a color he was perhaps a bit partial to. His gaze dropped back to her blouse, where he found he’d made a rather wet spot between her breasts. He summoned an apologetic look as his gaze rose back to meet hers.
“I’m sorry, Mistress, but I… I couldn’t help it.”
To be fair, the books truly were dusty. It would have gotten to him at some point anyhow, so why not help it along and get it over with? Still, Oraion supposed he had earned the scolding he was no doubt about to receive.
It took him rather by surprise, then, when Noelle instead grabbed his chin and forced her tongue into his mouth. He was quick to adapt, of course, sucking on her tongue and chasing it with his own when she pulled it back. His fingers dug into her hips, pulling her towards him until she was straddling his lap. She draped her arms over his shoulders and around his neck as she continued to kiss him hungrily, sucking on and biting his lips and tongue. The lust that burned within her intoxicated him and stoked his Hunger.
He supported her back with one hand while the other loosened the catch of her leather leggings and slipped inside. She was warm and wet and waiting for his touch, and she moaned into his mouth as he pushed two fingers inside her. The feel of her became his entirety: the way she enfolded his fingers, the slick sweetness of her tongue in his mouth, the building pleasure that flowed into him more and more.
Noelle brushed the tip of his nose with her own, sending a ticklish wave through his sinuses.
“C-careful -snf- it’s still pretty sensitive…”
“Oh dear,” she murmured as she nuzzled him again, “how terribly inconvenient.”
Even as his breath caught she kissed him. The buzzing prickle spread, making it hard to concentrate, but his fingers did not stop their rhythmic stroking.
“M-Mistress, I… I n-need to- heh-HEH!”
It wouldn’t take much to send either of them over the edge. Oraion could hardly keep his eyes open, and he felt more than saw Noelle’s fingertip gently tease his irritated nares.
“W-wait- Y-you’re guh-gonna m-make me- ih-hihh-HIHH!”
Her hand still behind his neck twined into his hair and shoved his face down into her cleavage.
“hiihh-CHHWFF!”
Once more his sneeze was muffled by the supple flesh of her breasts, and in that moment her pleasure poured into him like a river breaking through a dam. It washed over him in waves, and he let himself drown in it as her hips bucked over his lap. Her pleasure became his own, no telling where one ended and the other began. Each held onto the other for dear life, Noelle clutching Oraion to her chest as he hugged her to himself with his arm around her back.
As they both came down from their shared euphoria, Oraion realized he was biting Noelle’s breast through her shirt. He did not remember making the conscious decision to do so, but she didn't seem to mind. He let go and looked up at her. She was taking her hand out of her mouth—she had bitten the side of a forefinger to keep herself quiet in the stillness of the Librarium.
He kept his eyes on her face as he slowly pulled out of her. The sweet expression she made and the little sigh that escaped her were the perfect dessert to his delicious meal. She opened her soft brown eyes, her cheeks still flushed and rosy, and she leaned in to kiss him once more. He nipped at her lower lip with a sly grin.
“Still afraid we're going to get in trouble?”
“Yes, but now I care less.”
Her lips touched his even as she giggled, a sound that twisted her ever deeper into his heart. Falling for her was a terrible idea, he knew that, but moments like this, the happiness she gave him, made him powerless to resist her gravity. No one made him feel this way, not since his first love, so long past that it may as well have been in another world entirely.
The sound of heavy footsteps approaching broke them from the hold of the afterglow, and Noelle hurried back into her own seat as she adjusted her clothing. She flipped open the pages of the book and leaned over them like she’d been studying them all along, though her face was still quite red. Oraion found his handkerchief had fallen on the floor at some point, and he quickly scooped it up and wiped off his fingers.
The hulking form of the Head Librarian strode into view, carrying a library cart in her hands. Oraion imagined her leaning over to push it normally, and he got a pretty good idea of why she preferred to carry it. She placed the cart down and filed away a few volumes on a nearby shelf. Oraion heard Noelle breathe a quiet sigh of relief.
"Everything all right over here? I thought I heard some sort of commotion, and you’re looking rather flushed, Miss."
“U-um.” Noelle’s voice came out in a terrified squeak, her eyes wide behind her glasses.
Thinking quickly, Oraion lifted his handkerchief to his nose as though he were wiping it, but instead he gave his nostrils a quick tease.
“S-sorry, it’s my fault, I- I- hih- ih-hihh! HIIHTCHHiuh!” He managed to muffle the sneeze by pressing the cloth firmly over his nose, which he hoped was a reasonable facsimile of how it had sounded into Noelle’s shirt. “Nguh -snnff- Sorry, my a-allergies are acting up, and- heh! heh-CHHFF! -snf- I’m afraid I’ve rather embarrassed her with the noise. -sdnf- This is a library, after all.”
The orcish librarian narrowed her eyes. “Hmph. Just keep it down, and do not disturb the other patrons, please.”
“I-I’ll do my best, ma’am… hhihghshh!”
Appearing satisfied, Ogtrop picked up her cart and moved on. Once the sound of her footsteps had faded, Oraion couldn’t help but laugh, smothering the sound behind a hand. Noelle playfully smacked his arm.
“I don’t see what’s so funny! We could have gotten into so much trouble!”
Though her words chastised him, a thread of laughter wove through her voice as well.
“You’re the one who jumped me!”
“Oh, and you didn’t stir up all that dust on purpose?”
“You know it would have happened sooner or later! Now, do you want to keep bickering and draw Ms Ogtrop’s attention again, or do you actually want to study these arcane tomes?”
“Fine, but this is not over!” She went back to the table of contents and found the page she had initially wanted to review. “Now, I believe we were going to talk about the use of conjuration before we were, ahem, interrupted. Weren’t you saying that you don’t actually use conjuration?”
Oraion grinned and placed his arm across the back of Noelle’s chair as they both leaned over the text. “Yes, that’s right. You see, conjuration is the art of creating something from nothing. Were that true, then the handkerchief wouldn’t exist before it appeared in my hand. I would literally be creating it from magic. What I do is a form of summoning…”
While Oraion continued his explanation, Ms Gwendolyn Ogtrop, Head Librarian of the Tigate Librarium, continued her work of filing away the book returns in Section D. She heaved a sigh and tried not to let her envy weigh too heavily on her mind. Men of that caliber were rare enough, but the fact that this one had adorable sneezes too? That human girl didn’t know what a treasure she had. Although, with how red her face was, perhaps she did…
Ogtrop tried to push it from her mind as she tucked another book away. Someday the perfect man for her would walk through that Librarium door. She would whisk him off his feet and into a whirlwind romance, instead of just another link in a lengthy chain of one night stands. Someday happily ever after would happen for her, too.
At least, she could hope.

Unabashedly love how Deltarune's main cast (Kris, Susie, Noelle, Ralsei) all seem to be based off types of horror monsters, combining very antagonistic/ off-putting personas with the average experience of being an awkward teenager.
There's Kris, the human, who's compared to a shambling corpse, a type of zombie lacking life for itself, bound to the most basic impulses for life, or perhaps a phantom knight, a ghost chasing after a otherwordly, personal liege to die for.
There's Susie, the bully, the gangster, the wild barbaric beast, the 'dark' one in the group, who played her role straight in chapter one, attacking anything in her path for daring to be weaker than her, and even once on the side of good, can't shake her doubts that she stands as a barely contained anti-hero compared to her friends.
Noelle, of course, is the witch & the ghost - both roles brought to the front throughout the course of the Weird Route. The Witch - she is the holder for some of the most destructive magic seen so far, a Knight capable of opening a Dark Fountain. And as the Ghost, Noelle is bound by history's tragedies to repeat them blindly, seeking a sense of closure for her family as it still cannot be found.
Ralsei, as he stands, seems to be some fae-type creature - a darkner that operates on a set of foreign, arbitrary rules - for whom friendship is paid with by acquiescence to said rules. How solid is his friendship? To who is loyalty owed to? We don't know. Neither does Ralsei - he's a shapeshifter, self variable and changing. If there is a price to pay, it will be paid dearly: Ralsei stands as the Prince of Darkners, and his CastleTown is both a hub for our friends, and the prison for our enemies.
There is something sweet about such a ragtag group of weirdoes finding community with each other, a chance to grow-up with friends and allies.

Not A Rival
Summary Surprising her boyfriend at Headquarters seemed like a good idea, but little did Vanessa know that 1. three captains were going to find out she was dating Nozel Silva and 2. that they weren't the only secret couple...
A/N Wrote this two years ago, one of my first oneshots for Black Clover... So, it was way before the famous Lucius plot twist, which is why Julius makes an appearance here

“Nozel, stop, it tickles.”
“I highly doubt that this is the reason why you always laugh when I kiss you there. And… may I doubt as well that you really want me to stop?”
Gosh, that sounded hot. Vanessa swooned a little. Well, more than a little. He was right, she didn’t want him to stop. Nozel just let a smug smile appear on his lips before he lied them back on her neck. She couldn’t help but to giggle again.
Well, it was true, it didn’t really tickle. Maybe a little, but that wasn’t the reason why Vanessa laughed. She was just happy. Happy to be in Nozels arms. Happy to see him again after three days. Just happy.
It wasn’t easy to be in a secret relationship with a royal. Even more with a Head of House, who happened to be also the captain of the Silver Eagles. Not to mention that a relationship between a prince and a witch wouldn’t be well received within royal and noble circles. That was one of the reasons why Nozel and Vanessa kept their relationship a secret for now.
One day, they will make it official and be out in the open. Face those rules and all those stupid things that were expected from royals. Vanessa might be a tiny bit sorry for all those nobles with daughters they would have loved to see engaged to the Head of House Silva. That she could understand, Nozel Silva was a catch. But at the same time, Vanessa wasn’t sorry at all. It would be arranged marriages, no place for love. Nozels heart was hers and her own was his. She refused to give that up.
But right now, Vanessa didn’t want to think about nobility and those stupid, complex circles full of bigotry. Nozel was far more important to her and his lips way more enjoyable. They made their way across her jaw before finding her lips. Nozel didn’t waste any moment, kissing her deeply. Vanessa put her arms around his neck, pulling herself closer to him. Heavens, she missed his kisses so much!
“You should relax more often, honey. It does you good”, she giggled as they parted.
Nozel simply tucked some of her pink curls behind her ear, a soft smile on his lips. Vanessa sighed happily. She could swoon for that smile. They were together for a few months now. Getting used to see those genuine expressions on his face, usually hidden behind his cold mask, had been surprisingly easy.
“It is very easy to relax, when you’re with me.”
They kissed again, much softer, but still passionate. Vanessa was decided to savour any moments, to not miss one single second.
Three days without seeing each other, that was long. Vanessa had been on a mission at the border to the Diamond Kingdom, but most of the time, Zora, Gordon and herself had been more preoccupied to stop Luck to destroy anything. And when they came back, she just had learned that not only there was a captains meeting, but that all nine of them plus the Wizard King had been called for a meeting with King Augustus, because… well, the reason was most certainly something stupid and forgettable.
This had frustrated Vanessa quiet a lot. She hadn’t seen Nozel for three days and even worse, she didn’t have the chance to really say goodbye.
But then, a chance appeared. Noelle wanted to go to the capital to meet up with her sister, so Vanessa jumped on the occasion to accompany her.
Noelles bond with Nozel had become better and stronger, her relationship with Nebra was also on the way for betterment. Noelle was taking one sibling at the time to mend those broken bonds. After some awkward meetings, the relationship between the Silva sisters became slowly better, today Noelle and Nebra were on good terms.
Vanessa left Noelle with her sister at some noble but nice café, pretexting to go shopping at the Black Market. Nebra had made a confused face and Noelle began to explain while her squadmate let them be. But of course, instead of going shopping, Vanessa went headfirst to the Magic Knight Headquarters, determined to finally see Nozel again.
She just came right when the first meeting was over and when the captains had a bit time before the second one with the King. Surprising her boyfriend of a captain right when he was alone in a hallway, Vanessa dragged him into an empty room, where they fully enjoyed their reunion.
“Don’t you have a meeting with the king coming soon?”, Vanessa asked innocently as they parted from another kiss.
“That’s not of importance”, Nozel answered quietly, before rubbing his nose against hers.
But just as they were about to kiss again, the door to the room opened suddenly.
“Wha-… Oh, my! Oh my!”
Nozel and Vanessa turned abruptly towards the intruder, who was none other than Dorothy Unsworth, captain of the Coral Peacocks, very much awake, for once.
The other witch looked very surprised, but had still the biggest smile on her face.
Vanessa saw Nozel turning beet red and she suspected to be a bit flushed herself. Until now, only the Wizard King and Nero knew about their relationship; as well as Gordon, but he learned it by accident. Which had been enough for now, both weren’t ready yet to go out of secrecy.
Although, with captain Dorothy here, their secret was at risk to be no longer one.
“Oh well, that is unexpected. But how cute are you two! I mean, I suspected you to have a lover, Nozel, but I’ll never would have thought this person is a fellow witch! Congratulations! Aww, did I mention that you’re both cute together?”
“Yes, you did.” Nozels voice was calm and he straightened himself, like a proper royal. But he was still blushing a lot and he didn’t let go of Vanessa.
“How… did you had suspicions?”, the Black Bull witch asked. She didn’t know what else to ask.
“Oh, it’s subtle, but I had the feeling that Nozel was more relaxed those last few months. Happier too, he smiled more when he thought no one was looking. Besides, he took much more free time, which says a lot. Did you two knew that it is a mystery my squad wonders about right now? Why would captain Nozel Silva of the Silver Eagles take more free time? There’s a few bets concerning this and it seems that I won mine.”
Dorothy babbled, chipper as always. Vanessa was blushing again, though she couldn’t help but smirk a little. The thought that some Magic Knights had running bets about Nozel being in a relationship or not was a funny thought.
Her boyfriend, on the other hand, didn’t seemed very pleased. “Dorothy, I would be most grateful if you would keep to yourself what you saw.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll wait until it becomes official, I’m patient. And you know me, Nozel, my lips are sealed. You at least asked me.”
“What do you mean?”
“Oh, you’re actually the second secret couple I discover today. That’s way I came here in the first place, to take cover.”
But before Nozel could ask what she meant, there was a voice thundering through the hallway, “COME BACK HERE, MISS POINTY HAT, WE’RE NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!”
One moment later, a very angry Yami crashed in. Vanessa flinched. That wasn’t good. Her captain was surely one of the last persons she wanted to find out about her relationship with Nozel. Looking at the silver haired man, she just knew that he was thinking the same. She sighed. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult to continue to meet.
But then, captain Charlotte appeared just after Yami. Holding his hand.
Oh… Oh. Oh!
In that case, it maybe won’t be too difficult to continue to meet. She just needed to don’t screw this up.
“Listen well, Sleepy Hat. If you ever dared to tell anyone one single word about what you saw, I’ll personally-“
“Yami, please, you can ask her nicer.”
“Rule number 1, Prickly Princess, NEVER take any risks! I don’t want my entire squad coming after you. Or your fangirl getting overly upset every time she sees me.”
“We’re not there yet. None of our squads knows.”
“I know my brats, there’s only a matter of time until one of them finds out. And besides your fangirl, all your girlies might discover it soon as well.”
Dorothy just interrupted them with a cherry giggle, “One of your squad already knows, Yami dear and it has nothing to do with me. At least directly.”
“Dorothy!”
Nozels warning came a tiny bit late. Both Yami and Charlotte realized that Dorothy wasn’t alone. Slowly, they turned to the other couple in the room.
It was a bit an intense yet awkward silence. Vanessa didn’t know if she felt excited or embarrassed. Maybe a mix of both.
While Dorothy smiled like she had the time of her life, both couples just looked at each other, slowly trying to understand what was happening.
Silence.
Dorothy giggled.
More silence.
“What the fuck!”
That was exactly what Vanessa was thinking. Nozel and Charlotte probably had the same thought as well. But none of them would have said it out loud like Yami did.
“Hello there, captain Yami. Captain Charlotte, nice to see you.”
She had a joyous voice, but Vanessa knew that her cheeks were still burning. Hopefully, the other two wouldn’t notice it. After all, they were also flustered.
“Um… nice to see you… too… um, Vanessa, wasn’t it?”, Charlotte stuttered. She looked like she didn’t quietly understand.
“What the hell are you doing with a member of my squad, Bird Braid?”
Nozel straightened himself again. Despite the blush and the fact that he was still holding Vanessa, he looked very royal.
“Probably the same that you did with your own… girlfriend, Yami.”
“Girlfriend?”
Both Yami and Charlotte looked like their minds went blank. Which was quite a sight to see, but Vanessa was still a bit too flustered to laugh. Not like Dorothy, who couldn’t stop giggle right now.
Vanessa looked up to Nozel, a happy smile on her lips. “So… does that mean that I’m your girlfriend?”
“What else should you be?”
The captain of the Silver Eagles was still blushing, but when he looked at her, he was softly smiling. Vanessa couldn’t help but put a kiss on his lips.
She heard Charlotte gasping and Dorothy letting out something that sounded like an aww.
“For fuck’s sakes!”
The couple parted as Yami yelled.
“What is even going on? Braids is smiling and you hug him, kiss him? Did I miss the end of the world or what?”
“If it were the apocalypse, we wouldn’t be here, Yami.”
“Shut up, Birdie, I wasn’t talking to you!”
Nozel sighed, tightening his hold on Vanessa. Holding her helped him a lot to calm down.
“So… you’re together?”, Charlotte asked, a bit pale and probably still processing what was going on.
“Oh, come on Lottie, no need to ask, it looks pretty obvious, don’t you think? I mean, look how they still hold each other, even after getting caught.”
“Lottie?”
Yami forgot shortly Nozel and Vanessa to look at Dorothy, apparently stunned that she had such common nickname for his girlfriend. But Charlotte didn’t react to Lottie, she simply continued to stare at the two love eagles, who were indeed still holding each other tightly.
“Since a few months.”
“Months?”
Yami stopped to look at Dorothy to glare back at Nozel and Vanessa. Well, mostly at Nozel.
“And how long have you two been together?”, Vanessa asked, before either Yami or Nozel would say something insulting.
“Well… a few… weeks. Not as long as… you both”, Charlotte answered, with a very stuttering voice. Vanessa frowned a bit. Why was the captain of the Blue Roses this shocked?
“Oh, in that case… congratulations, captain Charlotte.”
“For you… as well, Vanessa…”
“Oh, for fucks sakes, to hell with the congratulations!”
“Language, Yami dear.”
Captain Dorothy seemed really to have too much fun right now.
“Vanessa, really? Hanging out with Braids for months? Come on, you have better taste than a wall of bricks!”
“Excuse me?”
Nozel was about to retort something, but Vanessa was faster.
“Captain, who I’m dating is my business, not yours. And Nozel is anything but a wall of bricks. Trust me, I already get countless proofs that he’s not made of stones, given how many times we-“
“Vanessa!”
Nozel put a hand on her mouth, while blushing even harder than before. But it was too late. Dorothy, Charlotte and Yami perfectly understood what she was going to say.
Charlotte blushed furiously, Dorothy giggled again and Yami looked like his mind went blank, surprisingly.
“Wait, Bird Braid. Does that mean that you’re not prude?”
Silence.
The two witches burst into laughter. Well, Dorothy already had a lot of laughs in the last few minutes, but this time Vanessa couldn’t help it, despite how flustered she still was. She didn’t even know if it was funny and why, she just laughed.
The other three captains didn’t laugh, though. Nozel simply sighed, resigned, flustered and still holding his girlfriend of a witch. He softly caressed her rosewood curls and seeing Vanessa this happy helped him to calm down a bit.
“Vanessa, would you please don’t speak about… this in front… of others? This is very… private.”
“Sorry, honey. I just don’t like that he insulted you, so I got heated a bit.”
“Not only is Bird Braid not prude, but he said please?”
Dorothy burst into laughter again. She really seemed to have the greatest time ever. All she needed at this point was popcorn and to sit down.
Just in this moment, the door opened again and Julius came in, visibly content. “Ah, there you are. Good news, I managed to persuade Augustus that the second meeting wouldn’t… Oops, did I interrupt something?”
“No, nothing at all, Wizard King. I just discovered that three of my captain colleagues are in a happy relationship and one of them even with a fellow magic knight witch.”
Dorothy couldn’t help it, it seems. She was lucky that the Wizard King knew about her and Nozel, but what if it had been someone who didn’t know? Vanessa knew that her boyfriend wasn’t eager to tell any of the captains for various reasons, especially Fuegoleon. But he had admitted that if one captain would not so much of a problem, it would be Kaiser. For Nozel to came to such a conclusion and to admit it, was already big.
Vanessa looked at Yami and Charlotte. They weren’t really disturbed by the present of the Wizard King, it seems. That might would mean, that Julius knew about their relationship as well.
Where there other captains in secret relationships he would know about?
“Vanessa, nice to see you. You’re really lucky, the second meeting won’t happen, so Nozel can take you directly on a date. Which is really less, less boring than the meetings, even for him, I’m sure.”
“Wait, Julius, you knew that Braids was dating one of my brats?”
“Yes.”
“So why didn’t you tell me?”
“They wanted to keep it secret, just like you and Charlotte.”
The Wizard King answered with a very happy smile, so that even Yami couldn’t bring himself to retort something. So, he decided to glare at Nozel again.
“Okay, but listen, Birdie, if you-“
“I know!”, Nozel replied, interrupting the captain of the Black Bulls. “If I hurt Vanessa, you are going to hurt me, no need to tell me. But it is not in my attention to hurt her. Besides, she can defend herself. She’s a very capable Magic Knight, after all.”
“Thanks, honey,” Vanessa chirped, kissing his cheek. Nozel blushed again, but he couldn’t repress that a small smile appeared on his lips.
“I can’t even threat you properly, Braids? No fair!”
Dorothy laughed again, clearly having a very fun time. This time, she was joined by Julius.
The couples, on the other hand, were still looking awkwardly at each other. That is, until the captain of the Blue Roses seemed to get a hold on herself.
“There is something I need to clarify. Vanessa, since you and Nozel are… well, in a relationship, that would mean… um, that you’re… not a rival, right?”
What was Charlotte talking ab- Oh!
Their contest at this Star Festival when the Black Bulls came in second. Back then when she and Nozel weren’t together yet, not even really acquaintances. When her crush was still lingering and given how she challenged the captain of the Blue Roses back then while she was already a bit drunk, Charlotte must have come to this conclusion.
Vanessa looked at Nozel and from his glance, she knew he understood as well what Charlotte meant. Of course he knew, she had told him about this crush on Yami. He had been a bit jealous, but he made big efforts to fight against it. After all, that crush was the past and Vanessa had countless occasion to prove him she was now his. And her feelings for Nozel weren’t a crush.
“Rival? What kind of rival?”
Of course Yami would ask. He had been oblivious to her crush on him and for someone who was able to read Ki, he had been wrong for long about Charlottes true feelings towards him. Even today, the captain of the Black Bulls seems to have no idea what his girlfriend was talking about.
On the contrary of Dorothy and Julius, who had known basically nothing about this, but still seemed to have put the dots together. The captain of the Coral Peacocks was still smiling cheerily, but now with a knowing glance. The Wizard was still smiling as well, but there was some worry in his eyes and he seemed ready to step in if something might happen.
Alright, time to put this non-existent rivalry back where it belongs.
“No worries, captain Charlotte. I’m not a rival and given the circumstances, I might never had been one. I found my luck somewhere else and I couldn’t be happier.”
Relief washed over Charlotte and for the first time since she entered this room, she smiled.
“That’s good to hear. I mean, um, well… I’m happy to hear it. And sorry that I think… that you were… well, my rival. Well, what I mean-“
“I think I get it and there’s really no need to apologize.”
“But when I believed it, I thought kinda badly about you and I was afraid that you would take… well, I’m sorry to have believed it.”
“Well, sweetie, you won and I’m really happy for you. Although I don’t consider myself as a loser, on the contrary”, Vanessa smirked while looking at Nozel with a wink. He smiled again softly, but not without getting flustered.
“Wait, Prickly Princess, what kind of rivalry did you had with Vanessa? Who’s the better knight or what?”
“Yami, for someone who reads Ki, this could sound rather stupid coming from you”, Charlotte sighed, slightly blushing and now holding his arm. Dorothy and Julius burst into laughter again.
Vanessa felt Nozels arms tighten around her. Oh, he must still feel a bit jealous, maybe. She grinned, leaning into him. She wasn’t mad, he made such efforts to come over it, even though it was in a Silva way. And even better, it would give her one more reason for staying at his place this night and prove him again that she was now his, only his. Something she loved to do.
“Don’t worry, honey. Even if he finds out today or another day, it will be not such a drama. I’m sure of it. Consider it something that you know and he ignores.” This made Nozel smile softly. “And I’ll show this night that I’m yours only.”
“Your place or mine?”
“Yours, we’ll clearly need some privacy after this.”
“Good, but let me take you out on a date first.”
“I’d love that, honey.”
“Oh, sweet love eagles, what are you whispering over there?”, Dorothy called out, causing Yami, Charlotte and a very grinning Julius to turn back at them.
“Just sweet nothings, captain Dorothy,” Vanessa chirped, leaning more into Nozel.
“Ugh, gross- Ouch! What was that slap for, Prickly Princess!”
“You never find it gross when I say sweet nothings to you, so stop being so contradictory!”
“I’m not contradictory, since it comes from Braids, after all. It doesn’t suit him!”
“It doesn’t suit you as well on the first glance, but you’re still doing it when we’re alone, my dear Dark Knight.” Somehow, captain Charlotte managed to sound angry and flirtatious at the same time.
The captain of the Blue Roses seemed more confident now. Was it because of the relief that after all, she didn’t have a rival to Yami’s heart? Vanessa couldn’t help but smile. She was really happy for them.
And she had something to use in case Yami would made some difficulties about her dating someone he respectfully didn’t like. After all, Vanessa loved Nozel, she wanted to be with him and she won’t let anyone take this away from her, not even her squad.
“So… who knows about those juicy little secrets? Besides me and Julius dear, of course,” Dorothy asked, with the biggest grin on her face.
“Well, Goldie Guts knows. He might have even known before Charlotte and I did. And that fat, winged Blue Rose there. Molly Something, I don’t know.”
“Yami, please, don’t call her fat! And her name is Puli, not Molly. Puli Angel! And don’t you dare whatever me, she was a great help for our relationship and still is.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
Vanessa, Dorothy and Julius burst into laughter again at the couples bickering. Even Nozel was smiling a bit.
“In our case, it’s Nero. I don’t know how she find it out, though. And Gordon, he stumbled on us by accident, when Nozel visited me at the Hideout.”
Vanessa still had no idea how Nero found out, but she was glad that this dear, silent girl did. Nero’s own story with the first Wizard King was heart breaking. Even more that the black-haired girl wanted to help Vanessa with her own prince. Her words. Vanessa has been very touched by Nero’s story, so that she offered her to be there whenever she needed to talk about her lost love.
As for Gordon, it had been an accident. He basically caught them in a heavy making out session while they were in one of the rare, not so crowded places of the Hideout. But it didn’t cause any problems. Vanessa couldn’t imagine if it had been Gauche, Magna or especially Noelle. Gordon at least was a silent guy, even genuinely happy for them. After giving them his congratulations, he had promised to keep the secret and left them alone. The next day, Vanessa got a glimpse of a new doll in Gordons collection.
“Don’t tell me you invited Braids to our Hideout?”
“Alright, I won’t tell you.”
Dorothy giggled.
“Did you never invite Charlotte at your place?” Nozel asked, as calm as possible. He was probably trying hard to not start a stupid fight. He was really trying so much and Vanessa was ready to generously reward him tonight, as thanks.
“Sometimes, but… well, it needs acrobatic measures to have some privacy back there.” Yami looked like he was himself trying to not start a fight. The fact that Charlotte was holding his arm tightly might helped.
“I have to agree on that.”
“Hey, don’t you dare insult my Hideout, Braids!”
“I swear, I didn’t mean it as an insult.”
“Leave my boyfriend alone, captain!”, Vanessa pouted. “He was just stating a fact and I agree on it as well!”
“Me too, actually,” Charlotte added and that made Yami close his mouth.
“How amazing! Nozel, Yami, what a treat to see you agree on something!” Julius exclaimed, clapping his hands.
Nozel and Yami just looked at each other, not sure how to react about that statement. Vanessa sighed, those two might never change in their opinion about each other. At least, they respected one another and that was a lot already.
Charlotte looked at Vanessa, who looked back. There was some resigned acceptance and understanding in their eyes, probably due to their respective partners. But also a new affection. Maybe now that this non-existent rivalry question was out of the room, maybe they could become friends. Vanessa would be happy about it.
“So, um… We agree to not tell anyone about our little secrets? At least, until we’re ready,” Charlotte suggested.
“Yes. I love my squad, but I’m not ready for them to learn about my relationship with Nozel yet,” Vanessa giggled. Oh yes, she definitely wasn’t ready for that. Well, Nozel and Vanessa were talking lately about to finally tell Noelle about it – a topic that Nero and Gordon were coming up as well from time to time – but they were still postponing. Noelle was surely going to have a shock learning this and well, she might overreact a bit like the Silva she was.
“Yep, you can count on me, cuties! I won’t say anything!” Dorothy added, making a peace sign. She was having so much fun, obviously.
Nozel only added in agreement. Yami said nothing, glaring at the captain of the Silver Eagles, but at the end, he nodded as well.
“Okay, I won’t say anything. But I’m not over with you two!”
Vanessa sighed. Like every Bull, she appreciated that Yami was protective of his squad. But sometimes, like now, she was maybe slightly irritated by it.
“Captain, please worry about your own captain. And just in case, leave Nero and Gordon out of it.”
Yami gagged a little. Either he didn’t even think about Nero and Gordon or he might had thought about scolding them as well. One day.
Nozel sighed, before he straightened and turned to the Wizard King. “Since the meeting with Augustus is luckily cancelled, Vanessa and I will take our leave. Have a nice evening.”
He took delicately her arm and lead her out of the room, like she was a real princess. Vanessa smiled happily. Nobody else treated her that way and she came to enjoy it a lot since she started dating Nozel.
They were out of the room, when Vanessa turned one last time. “Oh, captain, just so you know, I might not coming home this night, so don’t wait for me. Good night, everyone!”
“Bye, love eagles, have a good night!”
This undertone in Dorothy’s voice. She was really having too much fun. Vanessa was ready to bet that was going to tease Nozel, Yami and Charlotte endlessly during the future captain meetings.
Charlotte and Julius waved, the first with a small smile, the second happily grinning. As for Yami, he shot Nozel a warning glare, before sighing and giving them a nod. The door closed and they both were now alone in the hallway.
“Can I borrow one of your pigeons, please? To warn Nero and Gordon, just in case.”
“Of course.”
Oh, what a sweetheart. Vanessa really considered herself lucky with that boyfriend. She might have won the lottery. As thanks, she went on her tiptoes and kissed Nozels cheek quickly.
The silver haired man blushed a bit, but a small smile appeared on his lips. Yes. Charlotte has Yami while Vanessa has Nozel and tonight, she’ll will show him how happy she was to be with him.

BIO
Noelle was proud of being a witch, they were quite a good at it in fact, but a terrible decision one evening changed the course of their life. All because of one stupid book that had been in their family for generations, one that they had foolishly thought they could yield, surely they were powerful enough to control it and with the added plus of extending their life, what could go wrong?
Even after warnings from their family to let it be, that somethings were best not to be tested, Noelle made the decision that they knew better, they would prove to their parents and relatives just how great of a witch they were, how wrong they had been, the one rule they had to keep and they broke it and now there is a curse upon them. Heart no longer beating, a never ending coldness, the burn of the sun and worse of all being casted out from the family that they held so dear.
It all came as a shook and with their new found predicament Noelle had to find their footing alone, hiding away in shame of what they had done.
Time passed and the former witch now vampire lost sense of the world outside, leaving only when necessary. It was during one of their travels to London that Noel heard rumors of a place, a town named Greywood, in those stories they found a spark of hope, maybe a place to start a new and so they arranged plans to move.
They have now lived in Greywood for a year.
EXTRA INFO (in no particular order)
Noel used to live in a small cottage in Surrey before moving to Greywood ( was this somewhat inspired in the Holiday? Yes). They do miss it at times.
Enjoys reading, mostly thrillers and mysteries, and crosswords even if they aren't the best at it.
Names every bird they meet, a habit from their childhood.
A bit awkward but will always talk enthusiastically about gardening and their interests.
After coming to town Noelle found themselves able to control and manipulate the plants and the vegetation around them, always having an affinity to nature it was a welcome gift.
Sleeps under many many blankets.
Still trying to catch up with technology, fascinated by it really.
Can play the violin.
Is part of the Book Club, Art Club and Gardening Club.
Decided to take up work as a librarian in the hopes that maybe they can find a way to break their curse, do they know what they are doing not really.

Kizuna no Allele Spoiler-Filled Review
Tumblr media
Kizuna no Allele is an idolish music series directed by Kenichiro Komaya. Wit Studio and Signal.MD produce the series. The latter is known for series such as The Ancient Magus' Bride and Spy x Family, and the former for FLCL Progressive and Atom: The Beginning. In addition, Deko Akao wrote the show's scripts.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the forty-sixth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on August 25, 2023.
The series itself has a strange origin. It is an adaption of a YouTube channel by Kizuna AI, a Japanese virtual YouTuber, known as VTuber. This has led to claims that the series is a "forced meme" or that it embodies the "artificiality of pop entertainment in Japan." Whether that is entirely true or not, the series clearly has some positives in its favor. Well-known studios are producing it. A scriptwriter (Akao) is known for her work on My Roommate Is a Cat and Komi Can't Communicate. One of the show's composers (Go Sakabe) composed the opening and closing songs for Gosick. The show's art director Masakazu Miyake worked on series such as Fate/Zero, Spy x Family, and Steins;Gate.
While saying all of this, I had serious reservations about Kizuna no Allele, regardless of whether it an attempt by Kizuna AI to revive her brand or not. For one, the musical sequences, reportedly resembling actual VTubers, seem awkward and strange. This is especially the case to those who don't watch that sort of content.
The main character, Miracle (voiced by Ayumi Hinohara) is not as sympathetic as she could be. She is trying everything she can to become a virtual artist/performer, i.e., a VTuber. She attends a school named Artist Garden (Aden) Academy dedicated to that goal. That school is almost equivalent to a school where people train  to be influencers on Instagram or a YouTuber. It is clearly absurd.
One character shines through: Noelle. Voiced by Yuka Nukui, she challenges Miracle, a huge fangirl of Kizuna, to be better. Both go to school in the virtual world. Possibilities are said to be limitless. At first, it appears that Noelle is bullying Miracle. It is later revealed that her family pressured her to be "the best."
Later, she becomes a mentor of sorts telling her to face songs head-on. She brings her to a room where bubbles light up different colors depending on the interaction. In a touching scene, she declares that if you understand a song's lyrics, it will come out differently. She encourages Kizuna to tap into her abilities.
She has stronger character development than Miracle. This truly begins in the show's fifth episode. Some painful history which weakens her emotional connection to her parents is implied. In a final scene, she declares that everything must be "perfect."
One parallel is Kōsei Arima in Your Lie in April. His mother gives him strict piano instruction. He is so scarred that after her death he stops playing piano since he can't hear sound when he plays. This series is different. Noelle is pressured by her parents (and sister) to be the best. However, she has the notion she must be "perfect," even though they never directly told her this. Miracle plays an important part in making Noelle a more whole person.
The series seems to be pro-A.I. An A.I. named Vaity wakes up Miracle in her swanky high-tech apartment every morning. The character, Chris, is hinted as A.I. before episode seven. Chris (voiced by Hikari Codama) is clearly crushing on Miracle, calling her cute and kissing her on the ear in the second episode. As such, the series is yuri-ish, as much as Ippon Again!. It isn't directly yuri like Yuri Is My Job!, Birdie Wing, or Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. The latter, not the former, makes the series enjoyable, including when Chris gives Miracle tips on how to improve her dancing.
The person in the atrium adds mystery to the series. This character eats neatly and drinks tea. In some ways, the character reminds me of Victorique de Blois in Gosick. He seems out of place since much of the series takes place in Aden Academy and like a character in another show. This is the case for a (different) character named marumaru. Miracle often uses marumaru as a pillow, with the latter calling the former "ordinary".
youtube
While the fact that there are contests and school administrators is consistent with other idol shows. What sets Kizuna no Allele apart is the direct mention and almost encouragement of A.I. In a post-credits scene in the third episode, there is a question about non-fungible tokens, known as NFTs. A simple explanation is provided. NFTs have clear copyright, storage, environmental, and security issues.
This is compounded by the fees charged and manipulation of NFT prices. Some have voiced concern that these tokens are pyramid/Ponzi schemes and pointed to financial uncertainty of the data files. They function like cryptographic tokens, but are not so-called "cryptocurrencies." This isn't mentioned at all. This led some to say the show is shilling for NFTs. In this series, A.I. tools rank V-Tubers. In the 11th episode, participants in a music festival get an event NFT as a prize.
This uncritical focus on A.I. stands in contrast to the omniscient, godlike A.I. as depicted in the six-part OVA named The Orbital Children. This series almost encourages creation of anime by A.I. The latter is not possible. A.I. tools like ChatGPT are "incapable of creating anything new." They can only pull in what already exists. Consider Angela Carpenter in Carole & Tuesday who works with Tao, a music producer who uses advanced A.I. to ensure performers are profitable. That plotline is better constructed than Miracle wanting to write her own lyrics rather than A.I. tools.
Other series are more critical of A.I. than Kizuna no Allele. The same can be said for Cleopatra in Space. It has a paranoid A.I. scared of ghosts, near PYRAMID Academy which generates electricity for the campus. Later, an evil A.I. named Cyrano created by Octavian tries to control one of the protagonists.
Star Trek: Lower Decks and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur portray A.I. with more depth than anything this series has to offer. The former series has a malevolent computer A.I. in the second season. The latter has a "living" A.I. supercomputer and an entire episode on the dangers of A.I.
Otherwise, this series also reinforces, in many ways, expectations of idol femininity, even if it possibly subverts it. This isn't, necessarily unique, as those series within the Love Live! franchise, BanG Dream!, and If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die, to name a few of the over 90 idol anime and manga out there, do the same.
Undoubtedly the series has a strong animation style and intriguing designs. But, it isn't as nuanced as Do It Yourself!!, which gives the lesson that do-it-yourself (DIY) ethics can mesh with techno-optimism and technology. Instead, Kizuna no Allele appears to be taking the side of the tech bros who favor A.I., rather than approaching the topic in a more critical way. This is one of the many downfalls of this series, to build upon what I've mentioned earlier in this review.
Another one of the issues of Kizuna no Allele is that it took time for all those in the opening sequence of the series to have a significant role in the series. For instance, Riz (voiced by Arisa Hanawa) does not have much a role until later on in the series. In fact, she begins to get a spotlight in the end of episode eight, when she declares that she might have collected enough data as she rides on her fogelboard (a hoverboard-like device) catching the viewer's attention for the first time in the series.
The music in this series is only passable, apart from opening and closing sequences, by Ayato Fujiwara and MikitoP respectfully. While this is the first series Fujiwara has worked on, MikitoP has composed for Kochoki. Sometimes it feels like the V-Tuber music would be better to listen to than watch. The animation sequences with characters in V-Tuber form can look a bit ghoulish.
youtube
Apart from previous criticism of Kizuna no Allele, in terms of subpar music and positive views of A.I. (and presumably NFTs), there are some positives. For one, Noelle takes Miracle under her wing and teaches her the importance of music, while Miracle does the same for Noelle. In fact, in the show's sixth episode, she helps give Noelle the confidence to write her own song, and get beyond her previous dedication to be the best she can be, which even resulted in self-harm.
More importantly, Miracle, and the show itself, emphasize that you should follow your own goals, not those imposed on others, and that it more important to be someone you love than to be perfect. This emphasis on self-love allows Noelle to open up more to Miracle, resulting in her smiling, and laughing, for the first time in the series.
There is the continuing mystery of marumaru and Chris. The series, like Ippon Again, seems to be saying that hard work can pay off. That isn't always true. Furthermore, the animation of this series flows well and there are some cute scenes with Miracle, meaning that she is relatable.
In the seventh episode, Chris goes on a journey to find herself. Miracle and Noelle look at her previous streams to find out more about her. They become such good friends that Noelle finger-flicks Miracle on the forehead when she gets annoyed. This shows their connection between each other.
The importance of self-discovery fits with other themes in Kizuna no Allele. In episode seven, one of the best episodes in the series, there is an unsurprising revelation. Only half the students base their avatars on their real-life appearance. Chris seems to be a real-life student, but Miracle doesn't want to bother her.
This episode builds on previous plot development. Specifically, Chris is even more direct with her romantic feelings with Miracle, declaring she can only overcome obstacles with Miracle in a sort of love confession. She later adds that she wrote lyrics only thanks to Miracle, who says she wants to be better friends with Chris.
All of this interlinks to the growing camaraderie, by the seventh episode of Kizuna no Allele, between Chris, Noelle, Miracle, and even marumaru. Miracle is criticized by Noelle for "dragging" them down, as she hasn't produced original lyrics. Even so, Miracle still supports her. Almost akin to the sub-plot in Alice Gear Aegis Expansion, Principal of ADEN Academy reportedly has a devious, or evil, plan. One character says in the 11th episode they need to stop ADEN's plan. The academy is described as existing across the world and run by the ADEN Network.
Many loose ends are tied up in the eighth episode of Kizuna no Allele. At first, it seems like any other episode, with the video streams of Noelle and Chris. Miracle worries that she is falling behind in her rank and views. However, something important is revealed: marumaru is actually Quan (voiced by Rina Kawaguchi). Miracle has been confiding in marumaru since episode one. Only the audience knows they are the same. As such, it is clear Quan has been front and center the entire time. Miracle even states that marumaru is not boring or pathetic.
The 11th episode turns this on its head. Noelle, Riz, Miracle, and marumaru perform at the Shower of Sound festival. While they fail, marumaru feels that their present form isn't good. Even though Miracle says that marumaru doesn't need to change anything, they transform into Quan, their "true self." This Quan is not like the one in the aviary. Rather Quan is a girl who appears in the series' opening sequence. Quan in the "real world" is a mystery, but could be a trans girl who hasn't transitioned. If so, Quan would have similarities with Snapdragon in High Guardian Spice, a trans woman shown prior to transition.
youtube
One of the strangest parts of Kizuna no Allele were the post-credit scenes in V-Tuber style, described as "recommended videos". While some were on topics like drawing, design, food, in-universe trivia, or something else entirely, they pale in comparison to those primarily about Sakura's outfits in Cardcaptor Sakura and Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card.
A later episode features a competition where characters race on hoverboards. In the case of the former, Riz got a lot more airtime. She becomes a stronger character, sharing the lesson that you shouldn't spread fake news. It appears she has a crush on Miracle, saying Miracle really interests her. The comradeship between Riz, Miracle, and Miracle's other friends, makes the series that much more enjoyable.
Riz, who only wants to get better data and cares little about her rank, served as a vehicle for the story to push Miracle forward by stating that she should think for herself rather than relying on others. Predictably, this causes Miracle to post videos and people accuse her of "copying others". She gets so much negativity that she even thinks of quitting becoming a V-Tuber!
This anxiety she faces is nowhere near what a high school student, an owner of a popular cat on social media, experienced in the 10th episode of Too Cute Crisis. In the case of that series, she could more effectively deal with her anxiety by not desiring to keep every single picture perfect, drawing from the terrible blurry photographs taken by protagonist Liza Luna of her cat Yozora.
Coming back to Kizuna No Allele, I liked that Miracle's friends don't abandon her, but cheered her up. In fact, Riz states that Miracle shouldn't be dependent on her friends and should walk alongside them instead. This causes Miracle to declare she will express herself the best she can in the virtual world, showing her "true" self. She expresses this even more directly in the series finale, where she embraces the idea of them playing a collab concert so they can qualify for the Virtual Grid Awards (VGA)
Furthermore, this episode not only highlights the clash between Lapin d'Or Ada (who heads the VGAs) and ADEN Academy principal Auris (voiced by Masumi Tazawa), but the value of originality. For one, Lapin is concerned about collaborative concerts, feeling they are copying one another and look all the same. She changes the system so students aren't rewarded. Many students to abandon the idea as a result. The latter impacts the friends of Miracle. They believe that working individually is  "better." This quickly dissipates as each of them realizes their connection to her.
In a powerful end to Kizuna No Allele, Chris, Quan, Noelle, and Riz all sing and dance together with Miracle in a concert as PathTLive. The 3D animation of the concert isn't terrible. It is more passable than previous 3d V-Tuber videos in the series. The lesson in the episode is that connecting and inspiring others is a good thing. It can even allow people to overcome obstacles, as Miracle and her friend make their way into the top 15 qualifiers for the VGAs. The series ending leaves open the possibility of a second season. Although it appeared to be very unlikely, when I wrote an earlier draft of this review, it was reported that another season will be premiering in October!
On the other hand, the show is not critical, in any way, whatsoever, of the YTuber culture, equivalent to social influencers in the U.S. There are no episodes, like those in the first season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder or Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Both focus on the dangers of online trolls and the power of a social media influencer. Instead, the videos have in-universe product placement. There is an advertisement for a bubble drink in one episode and an ad on the reported "value" of e-sports. Getting a high rank in the virtual world is indicated as important.
Such an emphasis reinforces the problematic idea the highly rated/ranked content is "good". In reality, this cannot be further from the truth. Even if a video has a lot of views, comments, and reactions, this doesn't mean that it is "good", as it can be actively harmful. Such content may not be to everyone's taste either. There can be "hidden gems" which don't get as much recognition. Although the show implies that Miracle's videos are awful, she is obsessed with getting a higher ranking, so she can compete in the virtual award competition.
While the series is watchable due to the interactions between Miracle and her friends, the yurish subtext, important of self-love and self-discovery, and sometimes absurd storylines, there are many issues. This includes non-existent criticism of VTubers, social media influencers, and A.I. Subpar music, lack of character development in the protagonist, and other problems are additional problems. Hopefully, a second season would fix these issues.
Kizuna no Allele is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

As you may know, Black Clover is having an online exhibition. If you look at it here (has to be on mobile though) you see 0/20 and 0% in the corner. I saw the screenshots that some people shared also have zeroes and wondered... After some clicking around and struggling with Japanese, I’ve gotten a full score :D
So for those who want to know what to do, or can’t see the exhibition yourself for whatever reason, I’ve made a walkthrough that’s what it’s called right?
First, you’re asked to please turn on the sound and enjoy. There’s an ON and OFF option
Tumblr media
Devil Possessed Work Is On Display. DEVILS AND ~THE DON’T GIVE UP MAGICAL EXHIBIT~ Black Clover 6th Year Anniversary Celebration
The Spade Kingdom’s evil devil hosts have set their hands on Black Clover’s online exhibition, the “Don’t Give Up Magical Exhibit”, from the 5th year anniversary celebration!? Only the “devil-possessed works” were shining a suspicious light in the transformed exhibition hall.
[yellow/gold box] To the Devils and Don’t Give Up Magical Exhibit >>
Asta has newly awakened devil power!? -- Together with the devil Liebe, get power to confront the invasion of the Spade Kingdom, including the Dark Triad!
[white/silver box] To the Don’t Give Up Magical Exhibit >>
Complete Revival of the “Won’t Give Up Magical Exhibit”!? -- Because of the Spade Kingdom’s invasion, the “Don’t Give Up Magical Exhibit” has ended up in miserable condition, but Nero’s sealing magic has succeeded in completely returning it to the way it used to be! Let’s dive into the work and explore Asta and friend’s “won’t give up magic”
I recommend starting with the previous year’s exhibit, so flip your phone to the side and click the white box with Nero on the corner..~
Tumblr media
A little tutorial: you can click in the picture frames, swipe, and pinch the screen. Nero says “I’ll tell you if you get lost. Don’t worry.”
Tumblr media
“Not giving up magic” isn’t only Asta’s magic.
Everyone who supported Black Clover will surely have the power of “not giving up magic.” Now, with your magic power, let’s dive into the world of Black Clover’s story.
Tumblr media
PROMISE -- 約束 (yakusoku) -- The source of the power of Asta’s “not giving up magic” was a “promise” with his rival, who pursues the dream that they can never give up on, called “to become the Wizard King.”
Nero says “Tap the framed picture.”
This causes a little manga movie to play - about Asta and Yuno of course. Their promise, words exchanged at the dungeon, that time they saved Hage, and times they fought side by side in the Elf Arc are shown. When it comes to an end, it displays this manga spread:
Tumblr media
Nero says “Tap the demon’s bones...”
This plays a manga movie about Licht’s and Lumiere’s tragic battle...
Tumblr media
Nero says “Tap the icon on the upper left to return to the original world.”
You’ll be taken back the Promise screen and should now have 1/20 at the bottom corner
Tumblr media
PRIDE -- 誇り (hokori) -- Magic Knight Squads that protect the world with magical power. The Wizard King with the magic knight captains whom he brings together. It is that “pride” built up due to their overwhelming achievements that is the source of power.
Again, tap the framed pictures. A slideshow of their most prominent moments (before the timeskip) play. At the end is a panel of their most impressive spell at least that’s what I think they were trying to do here?
Tumblr media
Nero says “You want to know more about your comrades right”
Tap the yellow button next to her (it says “see details+”). This pops up:
Tumblr media
At the top is their type of magic. Then a short description about them. The rest is mostly stats that were already in their manga profile’s + a little extra. In order it’s: {their name ☘, age, height, birthday, sign, blood type, favorite thing, birthplace, and rank}
Yami’s birthplace is the Land of the Sun; Dorothy’s is the Witch’s Forest; Jack’s is in the Common Realm; everyone else was born in the Noble Realm
Tumblr media
COMPLEX -- 劣等感 (rettoukan) -- A person who can deal with their “inferiority complex” is also a blessed person who has the chance to become stronger than anyone else.
*note: the kanji specifically refers to “inferiority complex”
A manga movie about her struggles with magic plays, then switches to this:
Tumblr media
Nero says “Pinch out and move forward.”
As you “zoom in” panels of Noelle’s development with spells, from Sea Dragon’s Lair to Valkyrie Dress, rotate around, ending with:
Tumblr media
“I... won....!!”
Tumblr media
FRIENDSHIP -- 絆 (kizuna) -- For their precious friends, sometimes a person can even go as far as surpassing their limits. A magic blow vested with the “bonds” of friends has defeated any despair.
*note: the kanji means “bonds (between people)”
Nero says “If you look at all the framed pictures of bonds…”
When you click on each framed picture, you get panels like in the Complex section but these one’s don’t rotate
Tumblr media
It focuses on an important fight for each Black Bull, I think one that emphasizes their bonds with someone and/or teamwork. Magna & Luck share framed pictures; Gauche, Gordon, Grey and Henry share another. Usually at the end you see the kanji for their magic attribute (Charmys ends with “food magic”)
Tumblr media
Like with the captains, there’s also a panel of them looking impressive. Again, Nero says “You want to learn more about your friends right.”
Tumblr media
At the top is their name, description about them, then Profile ☘ and stats in the same order as the captain’s in the Pride section. I want to note that Charmy’s birthplace is literally “?”
But Before You Finish Looking At All The Frames-!! swipe left and take a look 👀
Tumblr media
Try to tap this~  Nero says “If you look at all the framed pictures, there will be something good.”
After you watch the 8th one, you’ll find that the middle frame has lit up
Tumblr media
“Tap the framed picture” Nero says. A manga movie about the Black Bulls plays, showing their good and awesome times, then ending in the group shot of when they busted in during Asta’s and Nero’s trial --but wait!! there’s more!!!
We’re moving left-?! Omg SECRE-!??
Tumblr media
“Well done, you undid the seal.”
Tumblr media
“I will undo the seal with my magic.”
Tumblr media
Sealing Magic
Inverse Release
Tumblr media
LOVE -- 愛 (ai) -- The magic of Black Clover has been sustained by the “love” of everyone who continuously supported all the characters, including Asta and Yuno, and this story. Thank you very much for so much “love.”
That’s right: you just unlocked Love :’)
Tapping it opens up a high-quality image that you can download for yourself.
Nero says “It’s a commemorative wallpaper. It’s yours.”
Tumblr media
☘ Instant Posting Magic ☘ Let’s share with everyone that we came to play Black Clover’s 5th anniversary project “Never Giving Up Magic” 📖 Use Instant Posting Magic
Tapping that opens up twitter. Nero says “Post in celebration.”
--but wait! there’s even more!! swipe one more time 👀
Tumblr media
Zenon, what are you doing here? staring at a framed picture of the Heart Kingdom... Tap it, Nero says
Tumblr media
oh shit
a preview of volume 25 plays
Click Here For Part 2~! ☠
※✧※
*Disclaimer: The exhibit used 諦めない魔法 (akiramenai mahou). Akiramenai is the negative form of the verb akirameru "to give up" and mahou is "magic." It's definitely a reference to Asta's "my magic is never giving up" line, and I guess it could be translated as "magic that doesn't give up" but doesn't that make it sound like he has magic? This becomes more of an issue when they begin to apply it to others beside Asta... So yeah, sorry that sounds awkward. Also depending on context and because I got tired of repeating the same phrase I changed the form from "don't give up" to "not giving up" and others.
I was using google translate quite a bit, after I looked up kanji by parts because I couldn't copy-paste the pictures (it was decent practice; I think I can totally identify the word "not giving up" now). This isn't an official release, but I did try to clean things up to at least sound coherent and give you a better idea of what's going on.

Black clover is an amazing show/manga and anyone who disagrees is wrong. Yeah thats a strong statement but its true. Black Clover is shamelessly shounen but in the best way possible. The main character is an underdog, so far so shounen, but the thing that makes him different is that his underdog status is never magically resolved, yeah he got a cool new power but unless he had spent years training his body that power would be useless, and as the witch arc showed us even after he got the power he had to do a whole training montage with a weird guy in the woods just to learn how to use it properly, his skill now is a culmination of a decade of work and everything he achieves will be because he put in the effort. Also people don’t recognise that he is as amazing as we know him to be, he's just that weird kid from the black bulls, the kid with no magic, he doesn’t get taken seriously until he shows off what he can do and even then some people still think that there's a trick. This is starkly different from shows like BNHA that give like an episode long training montage and then kinda call it good enough, give the mc a cool power and then they use it recklessly. Asta is painfully aware of his own incompetence. He knows that if he screws up thats it, so he has to be careful with his body, take care of it, eat, sleep and keep up with his exercise or else he’s doomed. “He still got hurt” I hear you say” and you’re right, he did get hurt because it was hurt his arms or let everyone he cared about die, and then he sat there yelling at fate saying he’d find another option and that he won’t stop. Its a kind of shounen tenacity that you don’t find many other places, in mha if izuku hadn’t been given a quirk he probably would have given up, he was kind of fed up with being told he couldn’t do it and was ready to agree, Asta only agreed once and for a single moment because the moment he stops thats it and he knows it. How they incorporated rivals was fantastic, most shows pick one or two rivals and that's about it, but in black clover just about everyone has declared themselves astas rival. They are acknowledging his strength and daring both him and themselves to do and be better. It lends an air of intrigue and tension to just about every scene he’s in because they’re competing, always This leads into my next point, the pacing is fantastic. Maybe not in about the first 18 episodes which was largely responsible for its downfall in the anime community due to the (bullshit) "three episode rule". However its like demon slayer in that it goes from action to action to action, it gives you maybe an episode or two of what me and my friend call "TA episodes" where it gives you a moment to breath but otherwise its moving forward, every action scene progresses the plot or the characters in some unique way that makes it so you can just...binge it all since the end of the episode is never the end of anything, theres always something more, something to wait up at night or to wake up early for when the new episode airs. It does have a "harem" I guess if you wanted to call it that, which lends back into the "shamelessly shounen" aspect of the show but it doesn't disgrace these characters, the three characters who are in love with him, noel, mimosa, and that girl he saved in that town that one time (can't remember her name, sorry) haven't changed anything about themselves to make themselves more appealing to him, they don't fall over themselves for him, yeah they're awkward but like...thats how love works. There is only one "fanservice" character in the whole thing, which is vannessa however shes not dressing for anyone else but herself and despite the fact that shes wearing a bra and panties and drunk af most of the time none of the characters sexualize her and treat her badly/as less than because of it. This show drinks its respecc women juice and you cannot change my mind on that. On that point, although there is a clear male female imbalance within the group the women are pretty strong and they're hella respected, nobody fucks with meleorelona, nobody questions dorothy unsworths place in the captains even though she sleeps all the time, a whole squad of girls? yeah and nobody teases or gives them shit for it kuz they know they will get beat the fuck up. Also going back a moment, Asta, despite having a harem only has eyes for one girl!! his whole life he just wants to marry the nun from the orphanage he grew up at, he has girls desperate for his attention and he still just wants to marry this one girl and if that isn't the greatest dedication you've ever heard of in a shounen (aside from everyone loving nezuko in demon slayer) you get get the fuck out. Then the foreshadowing, the whole first arc/plot story thing with the elves had so much foreshadowing, they played the magic king defeating the demon in the start of every episode and I had no thoughts I skipped it every episode after the first like 20 times and then it shows it again and you learn this giant lesson about how there are often two sides of the same coin, because to the people it was "yeah the magic king defeated the giant monster" but to the magic king it was a mercy kill on his best friend who didn't want to hurt anybody but it was the best of his few and all bad options. It was the biggest slap to the face that nobody expected but it was perfect anyway. Thinking about duality, many people in the story have an issue where they were brought up a certain way and think a certain way, often that they are incapable, or that their power is somehow flawed or useless. But the show straight up says that its not that your power its useless you just haven't found the right application for it yet. noelle thought she couldn't do anything but with more training, a wand, and more defensive spells or the suit shes able to accomplish things she never thought she could. Finral was always told his magic wasn't useful because it was passive rather than attack magic, but when used in conjunction with vannessa and asta they were able to down one of the eyes of the midnight suns biggest guys, it wasn't that he was useless he just wasn't thinking of how to apply it to make it useful before and now that he does he has so many options its amazing. these are just my off the top of my head reasons why I think that black clover is one of the best shows ever but yeah, tell me what you think, or not, totally up to you.

Black Witch Magic - Mila Nicks: A Review
Tumblr media
Librarian by day, cursed witch by night: Selene Blackstone spends her days camped out in library corners with her nose glued to books. In a town like Brimrock, where she’s an outcast, she prefers her book friends to her real-life enemies. They’re a lot less judgmental. The rest of town believes she descends from a family of witches—including her evil witch grandma, Luna. In this case, the truth is stranger than fiction. She is a witch, and she’s cursed for all of eternity. Good thing her to-be-read list is pretty long… Prickly Paranormal Investigator Aiden O’Hare speaks two languages: sarcasm and more sarcasm. He travels the country—and sometimes even the world—investigating strange phenomena with his best friend, Eddie. Their investigations bring them to a cozy New England town called Brimrock, home to fabled evil witch Luna Blackstone. Armed with his dry wit, his bibliophilic love for books, and far too much free time, he’s determined to find out just what happened to Luna… When Aiden meets Selene, he decides he must get to know her. When Selene learns Aiden is in town investigating her grandma, she knows she must stop him. He’s out to expose the truth. She’s out to keep it a secret. Neither expects to fall under each other’s spell, but sometimes love is supernatural.
Expected Publishing Date: October 30, 2020 on Kindle only
First, I'd like to thank Netgalley for the ARC for an honest review.
This is my first novel by Mila Nicks, so I can't compare it to anything else of hers, but I have to say that I really enjoyed this. It had a mystery within the novel as well, so it wasn't just a contemporary romance. I thought the book blended both elements together, and I'll be honest the twist towards the climax of the book actually surprised me.
In Black Witch Magic, we have Selene Blackstone, granddaughter to the infamous Luna Blackstone who the whole time despises. We don't ever actually know why, just that there is a curse on the Blackstone family made back back in the late 70s by either a jealous or jilted lover. I couldn't quite figure that part out. I wasn't sure if it was some white hag of a witch who was beyond delusional, or if her fiancé was having a legitimate affair with Luna. I do think that could have been fleshed out a little more, but perhaps that was the point, that there is never just two sides to a story, but the truth somewhere in the middle. Anywho, due to said curse, Selene is destined to live her life in Brimrock, a fictional small town in New England. Everyone hates her or thinks she's weird. They don't know that she's a lunar witch except her best friend and sister from another mister, Noelle who is a green witch. She's just trying to live her life with the crappy people of this town, and honestly, the fact that she hadn't decimated them all by this point was a miracle in itself.
In comes Aiden O'Hare, paranormal investigator part of a duo with his best friend, Eddie. Eddie's aunt and her family live in Brimrock, so they decide to go there for the holidays before investigating into Luna Blackstone's history as they said the town is haunted by her ghost. All these strange happenings are occurring, mainly to the male sex, so this would be prime footage for their 50th episode of their little YouTV (Youtube) channel. Aiden doesn't particularly like Christmas, and he finds Eddie's family, especially his Aunt Priscilla overwhelming. He wasn't far off because they are a lot, especially the aunt. She's a Hallmark Christmas movie made flesh, and even I hated her by halfway through the book.
Due to a rideshare mishap, our two lovebirds meet and eventually keep meeting until they decide to go on a date. Aiden lies about who he is, Selene doesn't completely tell the truth, but this all comes to a head pretty early on in the book. Soon enough, our Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew are doing their own investigation into the unfortunate happenings to two men in town. The whole town believes Selene is responsible, and Aiden just isn't having that.
I really enjoyed Selene and Aiden together. I felt that they complimented each other well despite the fact that they were both awkward turtles when it came to dating or people in general. They had some snafus throughout the book, but they actually sat down and discussed them like healthy adults, especially after their first go around in the bedroom left Selene very dissatisfied. I loved that Mila went there. She made the first sexual experience a total dud, complete abolishing the trope of a wonderful, orgasmic first time. It was embarrassing, mortifying, hilarious, and real. Yet, our lover boy Aiden was not going to go down without showing her that he knew how to take care of a woman, and boy did he ever. There isn't a lot of steaminess in the book, but that makes the sexy times even better.
The story itself is nicely paced. I don’t think there were any particular moments that dragged on. I don’t think there was any insta-love, just a very deep connection based on mutual respect, admiration, and fondness for each other. There were no “I love you” tossed around after knowing each other for less than a month. I also really really loved Selene’s friendship with Noelle. These two were ride or die, and they meant it. I could have read a whole book of just them being best witch friends together and breaking the curse themselves.
I will say that if you are going in thinking this is set during Halloween, it isn't. It's set during Christmas, but the mystery of the book does provide a certain spookiness to it. I think this is start of a very cute series with these two, and I can't wait to read more about them.
Goodreads Rating: 4 Stars

In which a sleepless night gives way to an important milestone in Noelle and Oraion's relationship.
--------------------
Noelle tried to hold her breath and avoid coughing again. Her ribs felt like someone had taken to them with a sledgehammer, and every cough made her wince and whine. She felt pathetic. Not only that, but she didn’t want to wake Oraion, asleep next to her in the bed. The past few nights since she’d been attacked on the road, the demon had slept by her side. It was nice. His warmth, the brush of his skin against her own, the gentle rise and fall of his breathing: his mere presence brought her more comfort than any medicine, even Quinns’s elixirs from the Knights’ own healers.
Exhaustion gnawed her bones, but still she couldn’t sleep. She was at once boiling hot and freezing cold, tossing and turning as she alternately burrowed into her blankets and threw them off again. Her throat prickled, begging her for relief, but still she clamped down on the urge to cough. It wouldn’t help to give in, not really, so she pressed her tongue to the roof of her mouth and waited the tortuous seconds for it to pass.
Even worse, her throat wasn’t the only thing that was irritated. Her sinuses were absolutely full of this cursed cold. She was sure she had sneezed more in the past few days than in the entire year since she’d summoned Oraion, and she was so congested she could hardly breathe. Quick on the heels of the tickle in her throat came one through her nose, and she pressed both hands to her face in an effort to quell it.
“hh-hihh-ngxt!”
A stifle was all she could manage, sending a dull ache through her abused ribs. She was so tired. Why couldn’t she just sleep through all this misery?
As she rolled over, a little spark of shame said she very well knew the answer. The unpredictable, featherish fluttering in her sinuses, her struggling attempts to hold back her sneezing, the need to be quiet so as not to wake Oraion—gods, it all got her so damned turned on.
“nnchgt! hng’cht! gshchiew! Ishhiew! Ow…”
Shit. The relentless itch broke through her effort to stifle it, lighting her chest with far sharper pain, yet even so the heat between her legs pulsed with intensity. Behind her, she sensed Oraion stirring.
“Mmm… Mistress?” His voice was muzzy with sleep.
“S-sorry. -snfft- I, um…”
As Noelle fumbled in the dark for something to wipe her nose, she felt his chest press against her back as his hand alighted near her shoulder and traced down her side. Her back arched slightly as his lips found her neck. Perhaps she should have been more concerned about her arousal waking the sleeping incubus, she reflected, rather than any noise.
“Mistress…” Now his voice was a purr in her ear. “You smell so good. I… I, uh… O-oh dear- hih-HEH-HIHHTCHIU! EH-GISHIU! HISSHIU! G-gods- HITCHOO!”
He misted her neck and shoulder with spray as a sudden sneeze fit seized him. He was prone to sneezing when he woke, yet this was particularly intense. Noelle bit her lip as a moan threatened to make her cough again. She could feel his every spasm and hitching breath through his body pressed close to her back. Once his fit subsided, he sniffled and rubbed his nose with a little squelching sound.
“Nnhh… s-so itchy… -snf-”
Noelle turned over to face him as a burning need started to claw inside her, but that damnable cough finally stole its victory, wracking her body with painful spasms. A completely different kind of moan came from her then: a pitiful, whimpering thing. In the darkness, Oraion held her close to him, enfolding her in his sheltering embrace.
“Oh, my poor Mistress. You’re still so ill… yet, you burn bright with such delicious desire.” Conflict was plain in his voice, as though he were at war with himself. “I don’t know how to help you. I know so little about human illness that I’m afraid I’ll hurt you somehow. Please, tell me what I should do, Mistress…”
Noelle licked her dry lips, her voice hoarse. “I want… I want you…”
She was burning all right, with lust and fever both. Trembling, she leaned forward to seek out his lips in the dark. Instead, the first thing she encountered was Oraion’s nose, which she bumped with her own. Almost instantly, he gasped in a shaky breath.
“Ah, c-careful! Hih-HIHGHSHIU!”
He turned his head into the pillows at the last second, so as not to accidentally headbutt her, she imagined, given his ramlike horns. His arms tightened around her with the paroxysm, clutching her against his heaving chest. In turn, Noelle clung to him even tighter, fingertips digging slightly into his smooth skin.
“Mmmh… I do love how sensitive your nose is.”
“-snff- All for you, my Mistress.”
“Makes me want- w-want you even more- ishtchiew!”
His breathing grew heavier, but she could tell it wasn’t for a sneeze this time. The demon’s last feeding had been some days ago, and no doubt she had stoked his Hunger with her arousal and provocative words.
“I will gladly pleasure you, if that’s what you desire…” Oraion hesitated for a moment. “Are you sure you’d be alright?”
“I don’t have much energy, but… Ugh, I can’t stand it! Maybe I’m delirious, but I think I might lose my mind if I don’t sate this- this craving. I-I need this, please. I need you.”
Any further words she might have had were sealed by his lips. He pressed them tight to hers, his hands beginning to roam her body as he slipped them beneath her nightgown. The incubus was no less amorous than usual, but Noelle could also sense an especial care in his touch. His movements were slower, more sensual. In his more impassioned moments, he might pull her across the bed, but now he handled her as gently as if she were a porcelain doll. Perhaps he still feared he’d hurt her.
With a gesture and an infusion of her will, Noelle called on the lamp at her bedside to cast a soft glow into the room. Oraion’s face came into view as her eyes adjusted, close enough that she could clearly see the lovely flush of pink across his nose, even without her glasses.
“There you are,” she whispered, the corner of her mouth curling into a smile, and for a moment she was almost certain his cheeks flushed, too.
Then the sly, roguish grin that suited him so well broke across his face, and he moved his hands to the front of her nightgown with a flirtatious tug at the fabric.
“Some light to see by, hm? That should make handling these buttons easier.”
Despite his words, he needn’t look at all as he swiftly unfasted the buttons, choosing instead to shower her neck with lingering kisses. They both sat up as Noelle shrugged out of the garment, Oraion resting his large hands gently on her shoulders as he pulled her into a soft kiss on the lips. Then she took hold of his arms and leaned back, guiding him down with her. The demon obediently followed until he was perched over her in the bed, cupping her breast with one hand as he kept on kissing her and tracing her lips with his tongue.
Between kisses Oraion sniffled, his breath stuttering with a few soft hitches. When they touched, his nose twitched against her own, until he suddenly pulled back with a gasp, nostrils flaring.
“hhHIHPTSHIEW!”
The outburst hit her across the chest, drawing a sound from Noelle that, in her fever-exhausted state, came out more as a needy whine than a lustful moan. Oraion’s hand trailed from her breast down her belly, coming to rest between her legs, stroking her through her undergarments. For a moment, Noelle thought she might orgasm right then and there, but she didn’t want it to end yet. As she barely managed to contain her pleasure, a shudder ran through Oraion’s body.
“Ooh my… seems we’re both a bit sensitive tonight, eh Mistress?”
“Mmm, it’s not my fault,” she pouted, hips squirming, “It’s this damnable cold that has my nose all itchy… I can’t help that it gets me hot…”
He took her lips with his own again, a suitably devilish grin lighting up his face.
“So then, how might this humble Servant slake your burning thirst, my Mistress? Shall I please you with this silver tongue of mine? Ah, I’m certain a bit of true silver would thoroughly do me in with how terribly ticklish my nose is right now. Would you like that?” He paused to lean in and nuzzle her neck, just below the ear, teasing them both until he stifled a sneeze into her shoulder. “Or, -snf- perhaps I should keep my hand right where it is—minus the clothes, of course. All the better to keep my nose where you can best play with it, hm? Whatever you desire, Mistress, you need only name it and I shall obey…”
He was ever suave and confident in these moments of carnal passion. What flashed into Noelle’s mind, however, was not the various moments of erotic pleasure they had shared, but the small, sad smile he had worn as he bathed her and cleansed her wounds only a few nights ago. And the way he’d blushed so deeply the first time he saw her own sneeze. The worry in his eyes when he’d pulled her from the rubble after accidentally bringing part of the tower down around them. His infectious laughter when they’d nearly gotten caught doing something incredibly naughty by the Head Librarian at Tigate Librarium. And countless other moments, large and small, notable and mundane, that had passed between them over the course of the year they had spent together.
She had yet to remove the crystal pendant he’d fastened around her neck the other night on the anniversary of their meeting, a near perfect match to his crimson eyes and hair. It lay on her chest even now, dimly sparkling in the low lamplight.
“... you.”
He kept kissing her neck. “Sorry, darling, I didn’t quite catch that.”
“You… You’re my Servant.”
“As I live and breathe, my dear Mistress.”
“Then… You’re mine. I- I want… I want all of you.”
Oraion froze, body going tense against hers. He drew back with a start, searching her face with widened eyes.
“You do?”
All that confidence and charm fell away. Noelle reached up to cup his cheek with a soft smile and nodded. These moments of genuine emotion suited him, too, she thought.
“Mm-hmm… I-I’m ready.”
He blinked slowly, like he was still unable to process her request. She would have laughed if she didn’t think it would make her start coughing again. The longer he took to respond, however, the hotter Noelle’s face became, and this time it wasn’t fever.
“Do- do you, um, n-not want to right now?”
Without a word he took her up in his arms, lifting her up as he hugged her fiercely to his chest.
“I… Yes, of course I will share myself with you, Noelle. All of me. I am yours.”
Then she could no longer get a word in edgewise for his lips upon hers, stopping only to allow her breath with how stuffed up she still was. Before she knew it their remaining clothes were gone. Had Oraion made them vanish with magic? Or was it the combined haze of passion and fever that caused her not to notice? The question faded from her mind, unimportant, because all of her attention was focused on the beautiful creature holding her close, his pale gray skin almost glowing in the light. Her fingertips traced the markings on his shoulder, slightly darker patches that ran in dappled bands down his back and tail. The only man to make love to her by her own choice was no man at all, but an incubus, a Demon Lord, who would not even be in her life were it not for a magnificent accident one year ago.
Her other hand, lying on the bed next to her face, he grasped in his, intertwining their fingers. His eyes shone with a scarlet gleam as he took a moment to gaze upon her face, his voice a whisper.
“Are you truly certain?”
Her hand tightened around his.
“Yes… Please, Oraion… I want you.”
He was so gentle with her it made her heart ache. She was afraid, but that fear, her trauma, would always be there. She didn’t need to let it define her, or make her choices.
Now, she chose to seize for herself the enjoyment and pleasure that was denied her past self when her first experiences with sex were instead filled with violence and pain.
A sigh left Noelle’s throat as Oraion pressed into her, slow and easy. This—this was what intimacy was supposed to be. Tender. Caring. A connection between lovers that each fulfilled the other, that gave as much as it took. Her trust in him was absolute, not because he was her Servant, but because that trust was returned, magnified. Everything in the past year had led to this moment when their bodies became united as one, when the contract between them took on a new form, a new meaning.
The pleasure that he ignited within her was unlike anything she knew. Whether it was his nature as an incubus, the bond they shared, or their heightened emotions; nothing could compare with this feeling. His hips moved over her own in a slow, steady rhythm as he made love to her, his rigid member filling her over and over.
“Gods, you feel so good,” he murmured in her ear, his voice low and husky. “Mistress, your pleasure is truly the sweetest I have ever tasted in all my years.”
“It must be because it comes from you,” she whispered back, running the fingers of her free hand into his mane of red hair. “No one else could make me feel… the way you do.”
“Noelle…”
The next few minutes passed in a sweet haze, such that Noelle almost forgot her illness. It did not forget her, however, and in the midst of their lovemaking her sinuses began to prickle.
“Oh… Oh gods… I-I’m gonna…”
The sway of Oraion’s hips sped up ever so slightly, the demon no doubt sensing the feelings stirring within her. Noelle turned her head and brought her free hand to her face as the buzzing itch sweeping her nasal passages overtook her.
“ih-hitschiew! ishiew-ishiew! Mmnh!”
She could hold nothing back now. Her own hips bucked, grinding against Oraion’s as intense pleasure flooded her and drove her mind blank. She was so tired and her throat so raw that she could make only a series of plaintive, moaning gasps as she rode out the climax. Their clasped hands bore a white-knuckle grip, and Noelle realized a moment after the fact that she had raked the nails of her free hand down Oraion’s back.
For some few moments the only sound in the room was their collective breathing in heavy pants and spent sighs. Oraion let go of her hand and instead stroked her cheek with his fingertips. The corners of his lips tugged up into a sweet smile, yet the slight furrow of his brow betrayed some concern.
“Are you all right?”
She returned his smile with one of her own, a soft chuckle whispering past her lips as she reached up and brushed some hair out of his eyes.
“Never better… Thank you.”
His smile widened.
“Well, it’s an important occasion. I had to make sure.”
“No, I mean… Thank you for being so patient with me. For never pressuring me. For waiting so long.”
“Oh, Mistress…” He leaned in and gave her an achingly soft kiss. “Do you remember what I said, all those months ago? I am literally here to please you. That will never change, and it is why your desires and comfort will always be paramount. If you’re not enjoying our time together… well, there isn’t much point, then, is there?”
“I suppose that’s true, but… I still appreciate it.”
The expression on his face was something like adoration, soft and warm that made her heart skip a beat.
“You’re welcome… my Mistress.”
Noelle chuckled again. “I’m only your Mistress by accident, you know.”
The demon grinned and brought his lips to hers once more with a whisper.
“Fine, then. My Accidental Mistress.”

So, you mentioned way back you headcanoned Nozel had a crush on Dorothy. So... Could you do some Nozel X Dorothy headcanons?
Haha yeah I can
This is a head canon that came from a dumb fanfic I wrote while drunk lol
I don't know if I actually ship them but the idea of Nozel being infatuated by an adorable little witch always made me laugh
+Nozel likes how quiet Dorothy is, he isn't a fan of loud people and whose more quiet than a girl whose always asleep
+whenever they have long talks they go to the dream world and Dorothy creates a beach scene for them since she knows Nozel has a lot of find memories of him and his family on the beach
+helps him repair his relationship with Noelle
+she tends to wake up a little more when she's dating him, she doesn't want him to feel ignored when they go out for dates and such
+telling the other captains was fun
+Fuegoleon wasn't surprised, he knew Nozel had a crush on her the moment he saw her
+Yami slapped his back as hard as he could and said "good job bird boy"
+Mereoleona rolled her eyes
+the only bad part for Nozel about dating Dorothy is he has to see Kirsch more
+not a pda heavy couple but v kinky in bed, they are two incredibly powerful, high stamina people who risk their life daily
+was a little awkward introducing his family to a non royalty partner but Dorothy is a captain so that helped
+what made her fall for Nozel? He'll always make people shut up so she can sleep in peace

‘ love potions are not something you should mess with.’ at the giggling words that were escaping the young girls that found a local wiccan shop. they were browsing through spell books - that noelle was close by. she was browsing the selection of herbs she was low on and that didn’t grow well near her home - and doing a simple run while she was in town , when she overheard the girl's conversation about making their crush fall right in love with them.
now it was her turn to voice her unneeded opinion - as a witch, only to gain a pair of sights that seemed uncaring or upset that she said her commen sense. it made the witch feel a tad awkward now as she just - awkwardly smiled before adding ‘ just .. saying.’ she whispered before pulling the pools of her honey orbs away and ducking down behind her bangs as she scooped up a few things that she didn’t need and walked right away.

Witch Activity
FursTech employee Noelle combats corporate espionage
It had started just like any other day. Most days started like any other day. Noelle rode the train to work, from Kenosha to the heart of the Danesville Metropolis. She walked from the station to the coffee shop she regularly bought breakfast at, reading the overnight news on her phone all the while. She bought a breakfast bagel sandwich and coffee, and ate it while she proceeded to her job at the FursTech building.
She worked on the 255th floor, a kilometer up. The first elevator only went to floor 150, so she transferred to the second elevator, which took her to floor 250, and instead of transferring to another elevator she took the stairs the remaining 5 floors. She scanned her Employee ID at the door out of the stairwell, and entered the FursTech national development lab.
Noelle was a hardware developer for the largest technology company in America. She was currently the lead on a new phone project, the most ambitious device the company has ever made. Her team was one of the most secretive groups in the company, surpassed only by the CEO’s personal projects.
No materials were allowed to leave the floor, and designs were only allowed on permanently installed computer consoles and their associated machining booths. This project was the most top of corporate secrets.
When Noelle arrived, CEO Aradia Furst was standing at the project station, examining the team's progress. Aradia, despite being a world famous technologist and inventor, was also widely known to be both a pagan witch and a christian sorceress. Instead of shunning this conception about her, she embraced it, and always dressed the part. She was rarely seen not dressed in long, flowing dresses or robes, exclusively colored black and gold. The phone Noelle was working on, the Pendant, was an endeavor by Aradia to bring simple, functional magic to the commonperson on the street, so it may be integrated into modern culture and the stigma around its use dispelled.
“How is the Pendant coming along, in your opinion?” Aradia asked as soon as she sensed Noelle arrive.
“It’s coming along very good, I think,” Noelle answered. “I think I’ve finally figured out the best materials to infuse to give the most user friendly experience. I’ve got a list drawn up...” Noelle, as a high-ranking FursTech engineer, had been given personal magic lessons by Aradia herself. She used her moderate amount of training to summon a hologram from the project console, showing the list of materials with an awkward contortion of her hand.
Aradia examined it for half a second before commenting. “With some substitutions, it’ll be unparalleled.” She expertly altered the list, replacing a number of archaic components with purer modern equivalents. “There. One last prototype and test, and I think we’re ready for the production model.”
“Yes, definitely. I can't wait for this to finally get into the hands of the software team. This will give us a big leg up on the Tokyo Workshop.”
“Speaking of...” Aradia dispelled the holograms. “The Workshop has a number of mahou in the city ‘on business’, so be extra cautious of espionage this week. I know for a fact that somebody on this floor leaked preliminary info on the Pendant, and that damned kitsune running the Workshop would literally kill for the designs for so compact a spell base. At the very least, brush up on your defensive and summoning spells before the next time you leave the building. If they ambush you, don’t be afraid to summon me to protect you.”
“Yes, of course.”
Aradia left, and Noelle got to work assembling the prototype with Aradia’s substitutions. She had a fully functional phone in her hand by the time she had eaten lunch.
It of course wouldn't be equipped with any offensive spells by default, but it had a number of defensive and utility spells built-in, with room for software devs to program more. Noelle and another member of the team took turns casting increasingly powerful spells of varying types against it, to test its capabilities.
An average citizen would be able to protect themselves not only against the average witch, but more mundane threats, like a mugger with a knife or gun, and be able to call for help for any more substantial threat. It would change the world, for the better.
After the day had ended, Noelle handed the phone over to the software team to begin developing the final version of the OS and program the full suite of spells. Noelle walked to the train station, careful to stay on well-lit streets, her focus completely on her surroundings. She boarded the train, picking a seat at the very front where she could see every passenger and through every car.
But she never truly expected the japanese coven to be so bold as to attack her in public.
Noelle only barely managed to get a ward up before an arcane bolt struck her, pushing her into the wall behind her and denting the panelling. She was in a daze as the three elegantly dressed mahou approached her, and cast an immobilization spell upon her. The tallest of the three hoisted Noelle over her shoulder, and then they cast a teleportation spell.
They sat Noelle in a chair, in a small dark room. Without any decorum, they immediately started casting painful spells upon her, in an attempt to forcefully pry her mind open to be read.
After a few fruitless minutes of this, they started conversing in japanese, in frustrated tones. While they were briefly distracted by their argument, Noelle hastily and quietly muttered a summoning incantation, only barely finishing it before one of the mahou caught her lips moving silently.
“Stop!” The shortest said, in a thick accent.
Noelle, through the thick mental haze of the pain she had been experiencing, smiled.
The shortest of the mahou approached Noelle, hand out to slap her, but froze suddenly. Aradia stepped out of the darkness, contorting her hands rapidly, effortlessly counterspelling every one of the other two mahou’s panicked spells and counterspells. Aradia, with a flick of her wrist, sent all three mahou collapsing to the floor. Aradia picked Noelle up in her arms, and cast a portal back to FursTech.
She gently set Noelle down on the altar in her private labratory, and cast a slow but powerful healing spell upon her.
Once she was certain Noelle had been stabilized and numbed, she returned to the dark room, and bound the mahou in a magic silk string. She strung them up from the ceiling, like a spider hanging it’s future meals from it’s web for safekeeping.
When she had fully fortified the containment spell, she woke the mahou up, and told them “I’m going to have a word with that damned kitsune.”
Aradia cast a communication spell, summoning a full hologram of the fox-devil before her.
The kitsune was tall, with black hair and ear-fur, and eight night-black tails. Her black yukata was trimmed with gold and silver, and tied with a red silk belt.
“Still working on your ninth tail, I see,” Aradia started.
“<I refuse to converse in your barbarous language,>” the fox-devil replied in Jōdai Nihon-go, an ancient form of Japanese.
“<So be it.>” Aradia returned in the same language. “<Your underlings have gravely wounded my favourite apprentice.>”
“<And what are you going to do about it?>”
“<I demand reparation.>”
“<As if you ply such influence over me.>”
Aradia reached out to grab the hologram by the throat, and the fox-devil jumped back instinctively to avoid it.
“<You say that, yet you still fear the unknown boundaries of my power,>” Aradia observed. “<Send me one of your apprentices and I'll release these three, and not further pursue you for this slight.>”
“<Keep the little one. She has potential but is too irksome to teach. I don't want her anymore.>”
“Sensei!” the short mahou cried, hearing her master’s dismissal of her.
“<As you wish,>” Aradia said. With a snip of her fingers, she cut the silk the other two were hung by, dropping them through trapdoor portals to the Tokyo Workshop. She seized the short mahou’s string, and they dropped together through a portal to her laboratory. Noelle, already awake, greeted them.
“Thank you, Miss Furst,” Noelle said, “I would have been a goner without you.”
“It was nothing. Help me unbind this mahou. That damn kitsune has ‘reparated’ for the attack on you by pawning off one of her disciples.”
“What are we going to do with her?” Noelle asked, cutting through the magic silk around the very young-looking japanese witch.
“We must treat this girl as one of our own, and show her a kindness that the fox-devil likely never did. That will be our true revenge.”
“Does she speak english?”
They both paused and stared at the girl. After a long moment of not being answered, they continued with their conversation.
“She likely doesn’t,” Aradia posited, “but we should remain tight-lipped around her just in case.”
They finished stripping her of the magic silk, and Aradia held out her hand to help the girl up. She cautiously took it.
“<What is your name?>” Aradia asked.
“Sakura Hina,” she answered.
“<Welcome to my laboratory, Hina-san. This is Noelle, and you may call me Furst-sensei, or just Aradia if you feel comfortable abandoning honorifics. How long did you train under the Kitsune?>”
“<Two years.>”
“<Then you must be quite skilled. Niponese Hermetic, primarily, I assume?>”
Hina nodded.
“<Do you know what my school of expertise is?>”
“<Kitsune-Hime told me you were you were dangerously skilled in all of the western arts...>”
Aradia took note of the fact that Hina had just called her former master a princess. “<My expertise is in the fact that I am multidisciplinarian. My grandfather may have been a more powerful sorcerer, and my mother a more powerful witch, but I am powerful enough at both and many other magics to have eclipsed them. I wish to bestow upon you as much of my skill as I can, as I have with Noelle.>”
“<Thank you... Furst-sensei.>”
“<Now, let’s get to work.>”

Christmas Movies on Disney+ Streaming Guide
https://ift.tt/2WazCa1
Like frozen fractals spiraling all around, winter is here once more, and with it is the most wonderful time of the year. Tinsel is being strung around trees, cookies are in the oven, and millions are practicing the hazardous art of exterior illumination. When the days are short, and the nights long, it’s the perfect time to lean into family tradition, and maybe watch a traditional classic movie or two.
Of course with everyone glued to the nostalgia emanating from what is sure to be a new family tradition—Disney+—you might be wondering what holiday gems are hidden in its streaming bag of goodies? Well, we’re here to answer that question and offer you a recommendation on the best holiday cheer to be had in the Mouse House.
Frozen (2013)
Disney+
Frozen, an animated movie you might have heard of, technically takes place during summer. But it sure doesn’t feel that way after Queen Elsa freezes the fjord and belts songs about the snowmen she and her sister want to build. Indeed, there is hardly a more festive film for the holidays than this celebration of self-love and familial love. Rather than being the story of a princess falling for a prince, Frozen is about the love between two sisters, Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell), and how that bond can transcend fear, isolation, and lifelong trauma like losing your parents at an early age.

Frozen 2 Ending Explained
By David Crow
Fairly sophisticated stuff for an animated movie, Frozen became a bona fide classic in large part due to its songbook by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, with “Let It Go” standing out as an anthem for self-empowerment and the realization of identity. And if you overlook the fact you heard that song probably five thousand times, it still has that same resonance, which is why children are drawn to its message, as well as Elsa’ irresistible ice powers brought to dazzling life. When you factor in Anna’s own awkward charm, the power the two radiate together is warming in any season.
Home Alone (1990)
Disney+
Another holiday classic from Fox, Home Alone remains a millennial touchstone for this time of year, and a gift that keeps on giving. Yes, everyone remembers the end where Macaulay Culkin tortures two bumbling goons (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) as if they’re Elmer Fudd, but the movie has a lot more going for it than just slapstick sociopathy. Indeed, when Kevin McCallister isn’t being a sadist, this film has an earnest appeal about celebrating the fantasy of a kid living by himself at home.
When his parents leave Kevin McAllister home alone for Christmas—it was an accident!—he has a luxury house to himself that he lounges about as if it were a giant playground with free ice cream, pizza, and R-rated movie viewing parties. Things go a little pear-shaped though when crooks try to rob the joint, but he handles that in glib fashion, all while sweetly pining for his mother. In fact, as you get older, Catherine O’Hara’s trials and tribulations to get back home to her baby boy in time for Christmas are as amusing as Kevin’s hijinks. (John Candy! Polka music!! Polka Christmas music!?!) But probably the reason this is a real classic has a lot to do with John Williams’ eternally heartwarming score.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
Disney+
A prime example of a sequel just doing the same thing again but to lesser results, Home Alone 2 is nowhere near as good as the movie that spawned it. However, Lost in New York has its charms. For starters, once Kevin accidentally gets on the wrong flight in a sequence that is sweetly dated to pre-2001, he winds up checking into the Plaza Hotel. This leads to a mirthful new subplot involving Kevin outwitting hotel management, including a movie-stealing Tim Curry as the concierge. The film is also responsible for the groovy Darlene Love holiday standard, “All Alone on Christmas.”

Is Home Alone The Best Christmas movie of All Time?
By James Clayton
Otherwise, yeah, it’s pretty much the same movie with Kevin being even more sadistic on the crooks… even as he lets the biggest criminal of them all escape his grasp during Donald Trump’s cameo.
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
Disney+
Michael Caine revealed the secret of playing Ebenezer Scrooge against Muppets is to act as if you’re doing Shakespeare in the Park. By playing his humbugging, anti-Christmas malcontent completely straight, he gives a whiff of legitimate menace to a Dickensian adaptation that features Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy as struggling Victorian parents.

The Christmas Chronicles 2 Trailer Has Kurt Russell Back as Santa for Netflix Film

A Toy Store Near You Season 2 To Release on Christmas Day (Exclusive)
By Tony Sokol
Okay, so it’s not the best adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless classic, but it is a sweet one with a nice message and a few good songs to accompany its silliness.
Noelle (2019)
Disney+
We’ve seen movies about Santa’s wife and Santa’s brother, and a trilogy about Santa’s murderer claiming his job, but what about one focused on… Santa’s children? Such is the appeal of Noelle, one of the first films ever developed exclusively for Disney+. Written and directed by rom-com stalwart Marc Lawrence, this is a film about the difficulties in assuming the mantle of Santa Claus. Ostensibly that duty must fall on the latest Santa’s son, Nick Kringle (Bill Hader), but after he goes AWOL, it will become Noelle Kringle’s (Anna Kendrick) responsibility to find him and perhaps assume the title of Santa.
Grab a FREE TRIAL of Disney+, on us, right here!
It’s a pretty silly premise, but Kendrick and Hader are both winsome personalities who tend to elevate any material they’re given, and there might be something refreshing of the North Pole being viewed from the perspective of Noelle instead of St. Nicholas. With that said…. We haven’t quite gotten around to loading it up on our Disney+ yet either.
The Santa Clause (1994)
Disney+
Tim Allen really was on top of the world in the 1990s, wasn’t he? The star of ABC’s popular Home Improvement sitcom, and just a year away from becoming a Pixar legend in Toy Story, Allen could get any family entertainment greenlit. Thus enters Disney’s The Santa Clause, a movie that posits “what if Tim Allen became Santa?” That’s pretty much what happens when Allen’s schmo-y Scott Calvin inadvertently is responsible for the death of the previous Santa who slips off his roof.
The consequence of Scott’s mistake is he puts on the red and white outfit to finish Santa’s sleigh ride that night, much to the delight of his son Charlie (Eric Lloyd). Little does he know that by donning the suit, he has entered into a “Santa Clause” which means he becomes the big guy—literally so as he gains 100 pounds of weight and a white beard overnight. It’s still amusing now, but our favorite bit will always be David Krumholtz as the no-nonsense North Pole elf from Brooklyn.
The Sound of Music (1965)
Disney+
A movie that has sold more tickets than almost any other film ever made—only Star Wars and Gone with the Wind were seen by more people in theaters—The Sound of Music is a musical epic that’s as endearing as it is saccharine. With a sweeping plot that documents in the rosiest of tints, the Von Trapp family growing up on the eve of World War II in the Austrian Alps, this is an all-time classic from 20th Century Fox because of its wholesomeness, and because of its many great songs belted by Julie Andrews.

Christmas Movies: A Complete Holiday Streaming Guide

In fact, one of them has become a Christmas classic. “A Few of My Favorite Things” is actually sung by Andrews’ Maria during a thunderstorm, and not Christmastime. But her inflections about “girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes” are so joyous, it could only live on during the most joyful month of the year. And the movie does indeed mark the holidays, and every other major event in the lives of the Von Trapp family’s six children that sees a nun go from being their nanny to their new stepmother, spiriting them away from the Nazis. Happy holidays, kids!
