okay sorry to be back on this shit again but it's fascinating to me how many ppl straight up ignore kitty's racism under Claremont or try to excuse it with "that's just Claremont talking through her, that's just Claremont writing"

and then turn around and shit relentlessly on nori ashida for. some very similar stuff?

reading academy x is like. Kyle and yost are creating scenarios for sooraya to be uncomfortable in. like they go OUT OF THEIR WAYS to write scenarios where she loses her niqab. over and over again, sooraya's beliefs and autonomy are violated. again and again, she's sexualized and exoticized. this is bad. but nori in this context is acting as an extension of Kyle/yost's desire to deprive sooraya of her faith/mock something that isn't theirs.

also to clarify so that no one can purposefully misinterpret this: none of nori's behavior was okay. even with the doylist explanation. like all of it was islamophobic and racist.

but it's still absolutely mind boggling how many ppl fall back on "well she's islamophobic" as an excuse to hate on nori while also posting about kitty pryde like "😍omg queen I'm sorry they're writing you like that 😔"
