Northern saw whets are just the most owl. Giving them kisses forever
it's the eyes. they're designed to emotionally manipulate you. not particularly helpful with humans, but it does make capturing prey easier (kidding. this is a joke.)

A face-off between two incredible, popular cuties!
Burrowing owls range throughout North and South America, residing in dry, open areas such as grasslands and deserts. Like most owls, they do most of their hunting at dusk and dawn, but more unusually they are often active during the day as well. They eat a wide variety of food, mostly insects and mammals but some other prey as well, and even some fruits and seeds. They are named for their habit of roosting and nesting in burrows, such as those dug by prairie dogs or those that these owls dig themselves. Females lay large clutches of 6-12 eggs. Young remain dependent on their parents for 1-3 months after fledging. When threatened, burrowing owls can make rattling and hissing sounds that mimic a rattlesnake.
Northern saw-whet owls live throughout North America, favoring coniferous forests. They are one of the smallest owls in North America, weighing only 54 to 151 g (1.9 to 5.3 oz) with a wingspan of 42–56.3 cm (16.5–22.2 in). Because of their small size, they are often preyed upon by larger birds of prey such as Accipiter hawks and large owls. They use a sit-and-wait method to hunt small mammals, which make up 98% of their diet. These owls have a somewhat unusual mating system, in which the female will leave her chicks to be raised by the father and then find another male to reproduce with, thereby hatching multiple broods in a single breeding season.

Teeny tiny Aegolius face-off!
These owls have a somewhat unusual mating system, in which the female will leave her chicks to be raised by the father and then find another male to reproduce with, thereby hatching multiple broods in a single breeding season.
Boreal owls live in taiga forests across the northern hemisphere. They are known to be very shy and live in difficult-to-access habitats, so they are rarely seen by humans. They are very small, weighing 107–179 g (3.8–6.3 oz) and having a wingspan of 50–62 cm (20–24 in). They are often preyed on by larger raptors. These owls mainly eat small mammals such as voles, but also birds, insects, and amphibians. Young become independent less than 2 months after fledging.
