Oc kiss week day 1: almost (caught)

Because military law doesn’t allow romantical relationships between military staff, Casther and Val have to be sneaky not to get caught. At first Briggs pretty much everyone knows what they are to each other, but they still couldn’t get caught by commanders.

Casther and Val have multiple spots around the fort where they meet (the medical room is their go to, but sometimes it’s too busy). Luckily Casther has very sensitive hearing and can easily notice when someone’s approaching. Pros of having a boyfriend who’s a chimera and has heightened senses.

The command of Briggs

Or more like: Who has the best death stare?

Genuinely love the contrast between these four, not just in terms of height (tho that IS hilarious to me). Olivier and Miles are 24/7 serious, Olivier and Buccaneer are best at looking intimidating. Tho Buccaneer has his goof moments, he mostly looks fully serious as well. But Casther? Dude is nonchalant, smiles often and he’s prone to goofing around. Don’t misunderstand him, Casther is very much capable of being serious and he can be chillingly intimidating. He just decides not to show that side of his most of the time. That has multiple reasons honestly

1. He’s just an overall more chill person

2. He doesn’t see himself in an usual commanding role. He does his duties and is part of the command chain. But never would be try to be as serious in his job like Miles. Casther never wanted to be a commander, but Olivier believed in his skills and he came to master this responsibility. Does he live it tho? No, not ambitiously.

3. Him being so nonchalant as a leading figure is something that drives Miles crazy from time to time, so that’s a win for Casther.

4. Most importantly: If you have a place like Briggs that’s lead by deadly serious people like Olivier, Miles and Buccaneer, someone like Casther stands out for sure. Outsiders that don’t know him, might just see his easy demeanor and don’t put him on the same place as the others. They underestimate him. Casther doesn’t care for rank and reputation. So other’s underestimating him and waving him off as “that strange Captain”, gives him an advantage.

5. Not everyone at Briggs can be broody. Casther’s role is to train soldiers and doing that is much easier if he has a bond with everyone. Also if new recruits come to a place where everyone scowls at them, it gets uncomfortable. Casther sometimes purposely takes the role of the easygoing superior, so ppl can relax and feel welcomed. It’s also good to resolve tension.

It’s equally a parts of his nature, his past experiences and him just putting up an act. Also: If you look irresponsible, you get assigned less work. Bingo. It’s a shame Olivier and the others stopped falling for that tactic YEARS ago.

Btw those heights aren’t even headcanons, I have literal proof that Olivier is tiny af.

Yes Buccaneer is shown deadly serious a lot but you can’t tell me that man wouldn’t participate in harmless pranks every once in a while. Of course no one would ever be brave enough to make Olivier target of these shenanigans, which is why Miles has to take it all as the second in command

Talk shit get hit 🫵

I like to think that they train together quite regularly to hone their skills. Some days they’re just sparring together and on other days they go all out, a spectacle that other Briggs soldiers like to watch.

This was mostly an exercise to improve my full body drawings, that’s why Thea is wearing historical inaccurate sportswear. But hey, military uniform inspired training clothes would be neat!

One body, two souls

Alright I want to give a bit of context to it: After becoming a chimera, Casther’s been 50% humans and 50% wolf. His body didn’t gain that many visible attributes from the wolf, most things are internal or not obvious, like his heightened senses. However during the transmutation, his and the wolf’s soul both came into the same body.

Most of the time Casther’s souls is dominant/in charge, just because him and the wolf are very compatible and because the wolf is very peaceful and enjoys “watching”. However there are circumstances where Casther loses control or where the wolf takes over by force. During these moments he’s not hostile per se (except for when someone threatens their “pack”). But he *can* be dangerous.

For Casther the state of losing control to the wolf is highly traumatizing. Ever since becoming a chimera he has been absolutely terrified of losing his humanity and becoming a monster/animal. And losing control of his body fully triggers that fear in him.

The wolf however doesn’t strive for control and sees everyone Casther holds dear just as much as family. Because the wolf sees and feels everything Casther feels and he too is very protective and loyal. Casther doesn’t know that though and fights against the wolf, which makes both of them very unstable.

It didn’t happen often and most of the time, Casther can’t even remember what happened later. To him, it’s like he just blacked out. However the feeling and paranoia stays. There is a point where they can arrange themselves better, but we’re talking about maybe 15 years after the transmutation.
