Random/Obscure OC Questions: Jackal and Jace

tagging: everyone i can think of has already been tagged so if you wanna do it, go ahead!!

What modern-world candy would they love the most?

Jackal would love any root-beer flavored candy, simply because of how much she loves sarsaparilla. Skittles and other fruit-flavored candies would also be favorites.

Jace loves anything chocolate —M&Ms, Twix, Rolos, etc.

Chocolate? Vanilla? Other?

Jackal: Vanilla or caramel.

Jace: Chocolate. Coffee is a close second.

What was their first kiss like, if it has happened?

Jackal’s first kiss was very chaste, with a girl that went to her church. Nothing ever really came out of it, but she bragged to Jace about kissing a girl before he did (this was before it became immensely obvious that Jace was not into girls).

Jace’s first kiss was with a girl, because his friends dared him to and he was still trying to convince himself that he was straight. It was pretty clumsy and uncomfortable for both parties. The first kiss he genuinely enjoys doesn’t happen until he leaves home and joins the NCR.

Are their parents alive?

No, as far as Jackal knows/can remember. When she was a teenager, her dad, a Ranger, was killed in action and his body was never recovered. Her mom became very sick when Jackal was in her mid-20s and she hasn’t seen her since then. She assumes that she passed away.

Jace hasn’t seen their mom in a long time, but knows a bit more about what happened to her...

What’s their guilty pleasure?

Jackal: Comic books. They’re one of the only things she enjoys reading, though she’s somewhat embarrassed about liking them. She had almost every issue of ¡La Fantoma! when she was a teenager.

Jace: Smoking. It’s something he picked up as a soldier to deal with the stress, but after realizing that he wasn’t going to die young, he’s trying to quit. He only smokes when he’s feeling particularly stressed.

What’s their favorite ingame location?

Jackal: Anywhere in Zion. She loves the rain, the river, the cliffs, and the clear night sky. It’s a great place to get away.

Jace: Wolfhorn Ranch. It’s peaceful and quiet, and it’s usually where he ends up when he needs to think or just wants to be alone.

What would their World of Warcraft class be?

Jackal: Outlaw Rogue.

Jace: Holy/Protection Paladin.

If they were arrested with no explanation, what would their friends or family think they’d been arrested for?

Jackal: So many things, but the most common guess would be theft, simply because of how often she does it.

Jace: They’d assume he was taking the fall for someone else, which he has done before.

Do they think cereal is soup? Why or why not?

Jackal: Soup is hot, therefore cereal is gazpacho.

Jace: What? No. Cereal is sweet and soup is savory. Absolutely not.

And I really really really want to read the Idiot Brain by Dean Burnett.

With Fallout 76 coming up, my friend drew our OCs! The girls are (from left to right) Jacqueline, Dorothy, and Amalia, and the boy is Flint! A bunch of stuff about them under the cut!

Flint Kaglar is my friend’s OC! He’s mixed (black father in the military, white mother as a Vault Tec secretary). When he was little, a racist old lady did something horrible to him that made him super sick and lose his hearing. The vault had hearing aids, but out in the wasteland they quickly stop working and then break entirely, which is just as well because now he doesn’t have to hear people’s racist shit about his parents anymore!

Born to Sarah and Bobby Dotson, Dorothy was a wild child. Raised on magazines with powerful heroines like iLa Fantoma!, she was outspoken and always getting into things she shouldn’t, and she especially liked toys with moving pieces and machinery. Her parents, however, died when she was 8 in an accident where the vault’s reactor had a near meltdown, sealing them inside with a lethal dose of radiation. She was then adopted by Jack’s parents.

Born to Wayne and Beverly Schuster, Jack was assigned male at birth. From when she was very young, she knew something felt wrong but she didn’t know quite what it was until Dorothy came into her life. Dorothy helped her explore her femininity, even choosing a name - Jacqueline - that she could use, so that her parents calling her Jack didn’t trigger such violent dysphoria. When Jack was 11, she was finally caught by her parents, and her mother went ballistic. Her father, thankfully, protected her and defended her, leading the two to separate, Beverly living with another man she was seeing.

High school was particularly difficult for the duo, Dorothy coming into her own, chopping off her hair and realizing she was into women, and Jack just being trans in general. Dorothy did a lot of beating up other kids and getting into fights to defend herself and her sister. A few years before Reclamation Day, during their junior year, Dorothy met a girl named Amalia, which put the siblings’ relationship in turmoil. The two were inseparable, and now this new girl was moving in on their relationship, attempting to take more time out of Dorothy’s life that Jack believed belonged to her. Though, admittedly, Jack was quickly won over when Amalia offered to help do her makeup and sew her a new dress.

Amalia had decent parents, who were only mildly disappointed that she ended up gay. Being plus sized, many of the vault residents said it was “a shame, since she was so pretty, that she felt due to her size she needed to settle for that short-haired dyke”. Though anyone who said that to Amalia’s face quickly found out why the very feminine girl’s nails were that sharp.

The four were among the last to exit the vault, and did so together, hoping to find a new place to call their own and carve out a little slice of wasteland where people could be themselves, free of the ridicule and torment they faced in the vault.

(Dorothy adamantly calls their settlement New Lesbos, though the girls won’t tell Flint, despite his asking)

Cazare Maramures Carta, Pensiuni Din Maramures

Tot cartonat de sanatatea copilului, [empty] in regiune s-a practicat ritul de „vindere a copilului". Astfel, cand copilul era morbos, muica il „vindea" pe fereastra unei femei cu copii inmulti si sanatosi. Cu aceasta prilej se a preschimba si numele copilului. Datul numelui era un timp important. Numele copilului il alegea muica si era de a sistematiza numele bunicului dupa babaca (denominare patriliniara). In Maramures, in conditii normale, ritul denominarii se celebra odinioara cu botezul; prin aceasta copilul era agregat in societatea a boteza si familiala.

Copilul era dus la crestinare de impotriva mama-mare si moasa (oricine de reglementa era moasa de mariaj a parintilor), Dindaratul botezare, nasa si bunica se intorceau acasa, conj avea loc „botejunea" (sarbatoarea propriu-zisa). Copilul era asezat pe masa atomica si i se puneau sub cap „sarsame de maistarit"; fetitelor li se puneau „cosale, tol, fusul cu zurgalai" (ca sa stie sa aleaga in razboiul de tesatura). La botezare participau parintii copilului, moasa, baica, neamurile, imprieteni (nu se aduceau daruri).

In Maramures, la botejune nu se zbenguire, ci tocmai se „foreste" (se plange). Femeile adreseaza noului nastere urari de sanatate si norocire. Cand copilul implinea septar ani, parintii mergeau cu el la moasa, sa-l rascumpere. Abia din acel timp se urmari ca el a depinde mamei. O conditie speciala se a zidi atunci cand copilul se nastea neinsufle-tit. In mentalitatea traditionala, copii nascuti morti erau considerati fantoma. De aceea, cand, precipita o asterida (insemnare ca a murit un puica nebotezat) cel cine o a remarca trebuia sa practice un rit de referat a numelui. Din, obiceiurile cine includ riturile de referat a numelui si botejunea se scoate ideea ca acestea nu sunt altceva decat rituri de agregare la societatea familiala (semintie) si la societatea sateasca. In cadrul obiceiurilor legate de copil, moasei ii revin si astazi sarcini deosebite si de aceea rolul sau este tare comod individualizat in integral ansamblul de ceremonialuri si rituri ce preced si urmeaza cest clipa. „Trebuie sa tinem cinste - mentioneaza Mihai Pop - ca in trai traditionala a satului, mositul era o destinatie, o cinste obsteasca, nu o profesie in sensul de azi si ca atare nu se retribui cu bani". Una dintre aceste obligatii era si este ca o datina pe an, intr-o zi special, baica sa fie sarbatorita in asa-zisul nacafa „Adunarea nepoatelor" . In Pensiuni Maramures Romania Libera (cazare-maramures.net), femeia mosita este privita de catre moasa ca nepoata, iar copiii ei sunt considerati nepoti. La „Adunarea nepoatelor", acestea ii aduc moasei daruri: fuior, lana, pictura, naframa, bucate, tuica. Petrecerea a porni de obicei la pranz, cand nepoatele vin la imobil moasei, care este pregatita de serbare. Ele sunt primite intr-o incapere in fiecare se afla un blid cu rachiu si un butculita de argint; nepoatele isi inmoaie mainile in aghiazma si o ispasi pe baba pe a pui si pe cuprins (simbolic), de trei ori, apoi o sterg cu un stergar, cu o naframa sau cu pictura din cele aduse in dar. Actantii principali ai nuntii sunt mirele si primula, socrii dilata si socrii a se micsora, nanasul si nanasa.

Po loňské oslavě automobilové historie Československa se letošní šestý ročník slavnosti LEGENDY zaměřuje na ikonické značky amerického automobilového průmyslu. Návštěvníci slavnosti tak mohou na hlavním nádvoří Výstaviště Praha nahlédnout nejen do bohaté historie těchto zámořských značek, ale seznámit se také s jejich aktuálními novinkami, dokonce výjimečně i v rámci výstavní premiéry v České republice.

K vidění však jsou, kromě amerických osobních automobilů, také legendární trucky, pick-upy a motocykly. Na své si přijdou milovníci amerických filmových vozů, kteří si prohlédnou třeba legendární Ford Mustang „Eleanor“ z filmu 60 sekund či verzi „Bullitt“ ze stejnojmenného filmu s nezapomenutelným hercem Steve McQueenem.

Vedle zmíněného hlavního tématu „Made in USA“ však přinese tato slavnost i letos víkend plný zábavy pro celou rodinu. Stejně jako minulý rok, jsou letošní LEGENDY koncipovány formou několika oddělených prostranství a pavilonů, kde mohou návštěvníci obdivovat více jak jeden tisíc exponátů s celkovou hodnotou přes jednu miliardu korun.

„Pravé křídlo Průmyslového paláce, které bude opět Pavilonem elegance, jsme zasvětili více jak padesátce těch nejúžasnějších a skvostných automobilů slavnosti všech ročníků výroby. Prostřední část paláce bude Pavilonem rychlosti, kde si návštěvníci budou moci prohlédnout pětadvacítku dechberoucích aktuálních hypersportů z celého světa! Nebudou chybět vozy značky Pagani, McLaren, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin a další. Kategorii supersportů budou letos reprezentovat také modely Chiron Sport a Veyron od značky Bugatti. Společnost Casio zde navíc vystaví monopost F1 Scuderia Toro Rosso,“ lákal ještě před začátkem akce ředitel akce Lubor Kos a dodal: „Naopak levé křídlo bude Pavilonem zábavy, který je určen pro odpočinek, hry a poznání. Samostatné expozice mají na slavnosti opět také vybrané automobilky, příkladně Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Subaru, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover a další. Významné výročí 100 let od svého založení oslavuje na slavnosti LEGENDY značka Citroën.

Novinkou šestého ročníku slavnosti LEGENDY je dynamická prezentace vozů zvaná Grand Tour, která nahradí loňský exhibiční okruh. „Bohužel vlivem nového termínu, který se kryje hned se třemi významnými domácími akcemi v motorsportu, jsme museli letos upustit od realizace exhibičního okruhu. Někteří závodní jezdci však přislíbili statickou účast alespoň v neděli. Přesto by neměli chybět například účastníci soutěže Dakar,” říká Lubor Kos. Exhibiční okruh je nahrazen tzv. Grand Tour, tedy prezentační jízdou vybraných pětadvaceti historických a novodobých vozů. Ty po trati jezdí několikrát denně.

Mercedes-Benz: Ohlédnutí do minulosti

K vidění je například historická ikona motorsportu Rudá svině – Mercedes 300 SEL 6.8 AMG, který je spíše znám pod přezdívkou „Rudá svině“. Legendární závodní vůz pochází z dílen Hanse-Wernera Aufrechta a Erharda Melchera, zakladatelů sportovní divize AMG, nyní Mercedes-AMG.

Pod svojí kapotou ukrývá tento závodní speciál upravený motor o objemu 6,8 litrů s výkonem 428 koní a k jeho předostem patřilo nejen zrychlení na stokilometrovou rychlost za přibližně 4 vteřiny, ale i maximální rychlost 265 km/hod. Není tedy divu, že při svém prvním startu ve čtyřiadvacetihodinovém závodě na belgickém okruhu Spa-Francorchamps v roce 1971 skončil Mercedes-AMG 300 SEL na druhém místě celkově a díky posádce Heyer – Schickentanzve zvítězil ve své třídě.

Oslava čtyřicátých narozenin géčka

Historický podtext má i prezentace aktuálních modelů terénní třídy G, která slaví letos 40 let od představení první generace. Na slavnosti LEGENDY představuje Mercedes-Benz dvě špičkové verze. První z dvojice je Mercedes-Benz G 500 s vidlicovým osmiválcem twin-turbo o objemu 3982 ccm s výkonem 422 koní v kombinaci s automatickou převodovkou 9G-TRONIC. Model G500 nabízí nejnovější technologie pro jízdní komfort i schopnosti v terénu.

Druhou vystavenou verzí je Mercedes-AMG G 63, která disponuje zvýšeným výkonem 585 koní u konstrukčně stejného motoru. V této ultimativní verzi však přidává oproti standardnímu modelu několik elektronických systémů a technologií posilující výkon vozu na silnici i v terénu, příkladně vysokovýkonný brzdový systém AMG. Samozřejmostí je také optické odlišení AMG verze v exteriéru i detailech interiéru.

Česká premiéra nového Mercedes-Benzu CLA

V rámci slavnosti LEGENDY probíhá také výstavní premiéra vozu Mercedes-Benz CLA v České republice. Tento kompaktní sedan vstupuje na trh a přináší především zvětšené rozměry ve většině parametrů v porovnání se svým předchůdcem. Velký důraz je kladen, díky množství elektronických systémů, na celkovou bezpečnost posádky. CLA přebírá vybrané asistenční systémy z vrcholné třídy S a na trh vstupuje rovněž s možností polo-autonomního řízení při využití dat z navigace.

S pohledem na oblohu přes trojcípou hvězdu

V expozici německé automobilky nechybí ani prezentace modelů bez střechy. Prvním z nich je dvoudvéřový Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster, který byl prezentován na letošním jarním autosalonu v Ženevě. Tento model navazuje na čtyřdveřové kupé, které jsme nedávno testovali, a s nímž sdílí většinu použité technologie. Zajímavostí je stahovací střecha při jejíž konstrukci bylo využito vedle oceli i lehkých kovů, konkrétně hliníku a hořčíku, s cílem redukovat hmotnost celého vyklápěcího mechanismu. Na voze jsou rovněž aktivní aerodynamické prvky pro maximální využití závodního jízdního módu. Vůz se při sportovní jízdě opírá o elektronicky řízený zadní diferenciál a řízení s variabilním poměrem. Pod kapotou má tento roadster čtyřlitrový zážehový osmiválec s dvojitým přeplňováním, který dává výkon 585 koní. Mimořádnost vozu podtrhuje i zrychlení z 0 na 100 km/hod. za 3,6 vteřiny a maximální rychlost 317 km/hod.

Druhým exponátem je SLS AMG Roadster, které už nějakou dobu těší srdce milovníků stažených automobilových střech. Jedná se vlastně o nové pojetí legendárního modelu Gullwing z 50. let. Vůz je vybaven benzínovým osmiválcem o objemu 6,2 litrů disponujícím 571 koňskými silami a maximálním točivým momentem 650 Nm. V této konfiguraci dosahuje maximální rychlosti 317 km/hod.

Nad Bugatti svítí hvězda již 110 let

V roce 1909 založil Ettore Bugatti se svým synem, po několika automobilových konstruktérských pokusech, vlastní výrobní podnik ve francouzském Molsheimu. Prvním zde vyrobeným modelem byl Typ 13 s motorem o objemu 1,3 litru, neslavnějším pak Bugatti Royale z roku 1930. Bohatá historie francouzské sportovní značky Bugatti však zažila během 110 uplynulých let svůj zánik i tolik očekávané znovuzrození, nejprve díky konsorciu italských podnikatelů a poté převzetím značky koncernem Volkswagen AG v roce 1995. Právě jeho zásluhou přišly na svět úchvatné modely Veyron a Chiron, která mohou návštěvníci letošní slavnosti LEGENDY spatřit. Bugatti Veyron tu je dokonce dvakrát.

Letošní slavnost LEGENDY však dostala, u příležitosti oslav 110 let značky, zcela unikátní příležitost představit také současný model Bugatti Chiron Sport, který měl premiéru před rokem na autosalonu v Ženevě. Nádherné křivky tohoto hypersportovního vozu důsledně dodržují zákony aerodynamiky. Těžko uvěřitelný výkon 1500 koňských sil je dosažen díky osmilitrovému benzínovému motoru W16 s přeplňováním čtyřmi turbodmychadly. Vůz využívá ve své konstrukci v největší míře velmi lehká, ale ultra-pevná uhlíková vlákna. Oproti běžné verzi Chiron, došlo u verze Sport k výrazné redukci celkové hmotnosti. I proto dosahuje vůz elektronicky omezené rychlosti až 420 km/hod. Jeho hodnota v základní verzi přesahuje částku 67 milionů korun.

Všechny modely Bugatti byly na slavnost LEGENDY zapůjčeny ze soukromé sbírky.

Století Citroënu v duchu francouzského automobilového stylu

Psal se rok 1919, kdy André Citroën vstoupil se svým prvním modelem Type A (10 HP) na světový automobilový trh. Od té doby dokázala značka Citroën na svých více než třech stovkách modelů demonstrovat zcela osobitý design, technologické inovace, a především elegantní francouzský životní styl. Příkladem technologického potenciálu je unikátní hydropneumatické odpružení. Do historie Citroënu se nesmazatelně zapsaly především model 2CV (známý pod přezdívkou „kachna“) a také ikonický model DS, který mimo jiné proslavila francouzská filmová trilogie Fantomas. Výrazné úspěchy si Citroën připsal také ve světovém motorsportu.

Oslavy 100. výročí jsou významnou součástí letošní prezentace automobilky, i proto představuje Citroën na své rozsáhlé expozici ve třech místech slavnosti LEGENDY většinu svých slavných modelů. Tím úplně nejstarším je Type B z roku 1921, aktuální modely naopak reprezentuje SUV novinka C5 Aircross a návštěvníci se po celý víkend mohou těšit rovněž na bohatý kulturní program včetně slavnostního krájení narozeninového dortu i exhibičních jízd.

Průřez šedesátiletou produkcí Subaru

Ke své slavné šedesátileté minulosti se na slavnosti LEGENDY tematicky vrací také Subaru, která představila první svůj model 360 v roce 1958. Za šest desítek let proslula japonská značka především mimořádnou technologickou úrovní svých vozů, zejména vývojem a výrobou motorů s protilehlými písty (známé jako „Boxer“) a stejně technicky dokonalý je dodnes pohon všech kol Symmetrical AWD. Subaru na slavnosti LEGENDY ukazuje celkový průřez uplynulými šedesáti lety. Zajímavosti expozice je Adventure zóna a prezentace modelů XV, Outback či Forester. Zájemci o techniku se také mohou seznámit s novým atmosférickým motorem 2,0 litru, který po modernizaci dostal Levorg.

Japonská sportovní ikona se vrací: Toyota GR Supra

Legendární sportovní vůz Toyota Supra se po 17 letech vrátil na trh. Pohání ho přeplňovaný řadový šestiválec s objemem 3,0 litru a s výkonem 340 koní. Točivý moment vrcholí 500 Nm. Samozřejmostí je pohon všech a všechna provedení Toyoty GR Supra prodávaná v Evropě budou používat aktivní diferenciál.

LEGENDY 2019 dají možnost seznámit se s tímto vozem vůbec poprvé v ČR v rámci expozice TOYOTA, kde si nová generace odbývá svou českou výstavní premiéru.

Ale i další exkluzivní automobily…

Automobilová slavnost LEGENDY ukazuje i další (nejen) sportovní vozy mnoha zvučných značek, které mapují různé dekády vývoje automobilového světa. Obdivovat tak návštěvníci mohou například Aston Martin Vantage GT8, který v mnohém připomene současný závodní speciál kategorie GTE ze seriálu World Endurance Championship.

Mezi další skvosty bude patří historický soutěžní vůz Fiat 131 Abarth, který vyhrál MS v rallye v letech 1977, 1978 a 1980 díky legendárním jezdcům Marku Allenovi a Walteru Röhlovi. Automobilové soutěže reprezentuje též ikonická Lancia Stratos HF, která se dočkala prvního vítězství v roce 1974 s Italem Sandro Munarim za volantem na populární Rally San Remo.

Z několika vystavených vozů italské značky Ferrari jednoznačně vyčnívá červené Ferrari F40, ale i F12 TDF, což je jeden ze 799kusové edice dvanáctiválcového modelu F12 Berlinetta, nesoucí označení Tour de France.

Britskou supersportovní scénu připomíná McLaren 570S GT4. Jak název prozrazuje, jedná se o závodní verzi GT4 a od sériové verze se liší především množstvím aerodynamických prvků. Vůz disponuje výkonem okolo 400 koní díky uprostřed uloženému přeplňovanému osmiválci M838TE o objemu 3,8 l s dvojicí turbodmychadel.
