HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND ROLL OUT!
Bestest wishes to Peter Cullen, the voice of 80s childhood icon Optimus Prime.
(this is a cosplay photoshoot I was fortunate to do with him in 2014 the day before a convention. And yes, I've finally run out of new photos from this and keep sharing them anyway 😅

This may be a dumb question but what are your thoughts on Leon and pet names? Cause boy do many fics have him use so, so many. But he seems to like using peoples names? Like when I think about him talking to the various women he interacts with I can only think of when he calls them by name. The only time I can think of is when he calls Ashley sweetheart in og4 and doctor high hopes is him being a bitch. Granted I could be forgetting something.
There's also this moment in RE4make.
But I think it comes from a few different places.
Foremost is probably the fact that a lot of nicknames -- not necessarily pet names -- get thrown around when it comes to Leon in general. Way moreso than any other RE character.
Like, Billy calls Rebecca "dollface" in RE0. Jill has "the master of unlocking." Chris gets called a "boulder-punching asshole." But like. Those are all really isolated incidents.
Leon has the whole "comrade/rookie" thing going on with Krauser. Luis calls him "cowboy" in both versions of RE4, and Remake has him constantly calling him "Sancho." Ada calls him "handsome" in both versions. OG RE4 has Saddler call him "The American Pig." In Damnation, he's referred to by several characters as just "The American."
There's also the whole "knight and the princess" thing that Salazar does in RE4make.
Leon also calls people names when he's trying to be a smartass. There's the whole "The BSAA's Golden Boy and Dr. High Hopes" thing but like. He calls Salazar "old man." There's the whole "Right Hand" thing re: Verdugo. He deadass calls Mr. X "Trenchy" in DSC like 4 different times and I swear to god I still have PTSD from it and, for a while, it was the only thing about DSC I even remembered.
RE4make and Damnation both have him using official codenames for people, as well.
He's also prone to mean-spirited name-calling because he's a fucking child. (Calling Saddler a bastard in RE4make, etc.)
And he's a big softie who, in RE4make, calls the dog "buddy" and "bud."
So, there's that.
I also think that Leon calling Ashley "Sweetheart" in OG really left an impression on a lot of people, because he meant it genuinely/endearingly/was not trying to be an asshole about it, and, to my knowledge, it's the only time in the entire series that any character calls any other character a pet name like that without it being sarcastic (see: Billy's "dollface").
He also says it really, really casually -- like, it just comes out almost by accident -- like, it's what he would've defaulted to calling her if they hadn't been on an official mission together, but they were, so he hasn't been, until he lets one slip out.
So, like.
Historically, for me, when I've written Leon -- I have him call people nicknames when he's trying to be funny and/or a dick. I also have had him pull out pet names when he's trying to hit on someone -- but like, only one and only one time. You can't overdo it.
And I've also had him pull out more affectionate pet names when he's trying to be comforting, but also only in very context-sensitive scenarios, and -- again, only one and only one time.
And then I'm kind of liberal about it during smut. That's when all of the "good girl" and "sweet girl" and "princess" and "beautiful" comes out.
ymmv but that's how I've always done it.

{Tokyo Bride Costest at the Zombie Walk}
//So back in October last year, I intended to do a cute cosplay with a friend at the Zombie Walk which involves a purple wig.
That didn’t happen!
But I recalled a cosplay test I did of the Tokyo Disneyland Bride with that wig! (as I plan to get the same wig in a lighter colour for her)
I was unable to cut the bangs, as I need them long for the other cosplay, but it didn’t hurt to test her out at the Zombie Walk! (I still don’t have the new wig yet so I’ll have to continue with the American version for now! (Which I still love!))
While I got MANY MANY photos done by various photographers! That would take up a lot of one post, so, here are my favourites!
I was actually swarmed by various photographers and people taking photos in general. There were groups of people from Korea (my friend speaks Korean and could tell from the language alone) and Japan (the same goes with myself, but I speak Japanese). Believe it or not, a group of Japanese guests recognized me!!
I kept my heart and candle a majority of the time to preserve battery, so while it looked great at night during the actual walk, I didn’t get many photos of it!
Here are the photos!\\

//Taken by my friend! These are my favourites!\\

//More from my friend!\\

//From left to right the photographers are: Steamkittens, Old Trenchy and Davina Joy!\\
Tumblr media
//And my favourite!\\
//There’s actually a story behind this one!
This was with the group of people from Japan who recognized me, three boys and one girl!
They took a group selfie with me before taking individual shots, the girl cutely held my bouquet with me, while in the shots with the boys, they would keel and ‘offer’ me the flowers! A photographer who I don’t know (unfortunately) managed to snap this candid from one of those shots at another angle!\\

Hi. If you have the time, I'm wondering about something. Was it ever explained why the trench was so oversized? Jimmy didn't have the greatest fashion sense, but all his other clothes seemed to fit. Thanxxxxxx
Aww, go back and look at some of the pics of Misha wearing that old original suit, especially the few from behind the scenes where he’s not wearing the jackets. That’s like... such an ill-fitting shirt, and the suit also sorta fits him like a sack. :P
Like, this famous pic from the filming of 4.03:
Tumblr media
Like... nothing about his clothes fits properly. I guess we could blame Jimmy, right? Maybe his mother-in-law gave him that shirt or something? Or maybe it was the last clean shirt in his closet that day?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Point is, it wasn’t just the trench that was a wee bit too big.
Now, we do know some of the story behind how Misha picked out his wardrobe when he showed up to film 4.01. Let’s start with the complete reference source, i.e. the Superwiki’s page dedicated to the trenchie:
http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/Castiel%27s_Trench_Coat
From that page:
Misha has described how when he was cast in the role he had to fly to Vancouver to be fitted for the wardrobe, and he pretty much agreed to the first suit they had him try on - little knowing it would be all he would ever wear in the role![2]
Since Castiel is at least in part based on John Constantine, it makes sense that he’d have a more rumpled, disheveled look. But how can we justify that against Jimmy who theoretically wore this suit in his professional life?
Jimmy sold ad time for AM radio in Pontiac, Illinois. Not exactly a high-powered career. And if his job was like any of the folks I’ve known who worked in ad sales--
My first job out of high school was at a local magazine company that published a regional interest magazine, as well as several national trade-specific publications. My office was adjacent to the sales offices, and unless the sales team had some sort of meeting, the dress code was business casual. A lot of their business (like, maybe 90% of it) happened over the phone, through the mail, via fax, and email. (this was 1992... we didn’t have a website :P) So I saw how these folks dressed-- khakis, sometimes jeans, and comfy, oversized (think 1992 ideas of business casual) buttondowns, etc. (i.e. comfy for sitting at a desk all day on the phone)
So that’s my assumption on how Jimmy probably dressed for his job. Radio ad sales doesn’t seem like something one does in person, you know? Why spend money on expensive bespoke suits when he might not really wear them all that often, and when he did it would just be to sit at his desk all day networking over the phone or online? Comfort before fashion? Could be. Especially if Jimmy had been in that job since the mid 90′s (he’s my age, so that’s when he would’ve been entering the workforce, and the fashion back then was a lot baggier... could be he just hadn’t been suit shopping since he was hired).
Either way, Cas ended up in that outfit for years. I think now that Dean’s allowed himself more indulgence into quality clothes and well-fitted shirts, he should really take Cas shopping for a really nice suit. I mean, dude’s been wearing essentially the same thing for 10 years. It would be worth the investment. :P

- [leaving afghanistan / babylon / republiqua americana / my brother's former kind or X-type / michael byungju kim]
All I have are novel-ideas.  I don't finish anything anymore.  I only ever finished "Hot Pursuit" but the ending was like "All That Is."  A new faith.  They decided to stay married to their spouses like in "South of the Border West of the Sun."  I remember Professor Coiro at Rutgers whose friend had a wedding ceremony where they quoted "Paradise Lost" - "with wandering steps."  Like getting married is the same as being exiled from Eden?  The first marriage occurred within Eden.  We read "Rain" by Billy Collins which I can't even find on the internet anymore.  When you start saying you're a Christian or you care about young people they want to run you to death.  Teachers burn out all the time.  The point is that the selfless will discover God's plan for themselves but I never had thought problem; I understand that being generous is selfish.  Other people have a slave-mentality - in past I thought... I understood women... Executing understandings is tiring... I feel like the Grand Inquisitor... Can you go to Heaven if you have ideas of Heaven on Earth?
- What is the poor in spirit?- I don't know.  I thought it was people who talked with their hands.  People who would give up authority - no.  But people who looked forward to things.  Have you seen "A Millionaire's First Love?"  People to whom 5 dollars... It is technically people who realize their dependency on God.  I reflected that in this age Christianity attracts people as it's intellectually satisfying whereas in the past people wanted emotional or physical comfort or consolation; many Christians still think people need to be soothed but if anything the problem with America today is everything is soothing from fentanyl to comfort-animals to videogames to Jordan B. Peterson's tone of voice.  But only Christianity can put it all together and only a few people have, Tim Keller, John Piper.  "Blue" - intelligent relation.  I got taken to task on 4chan for comparing Minju from IZ*ONE to the planet Solaris a super-sentient being that evolved towards generalization or what I would call "neo-foundation" or "distality."  Some lesbians think they're telepathic but the manifestation of language-invention / -neogenesis as well as actual awareness shared across super-vast distances is undeniable.  Houellebecq wrote about this but I cannot recommend you read him either unless you want to learn how to contemn women and smash them and see how stupid and weak and needy and desperate they are.  I waged a private war against everyone.  Even if I limited my means or freedom of action.
It seemed as though at Cafe Centraal they were always talking about blockchain / cybersecurity but it was pozzed to be in Milwaukee at all.  There were always real and unreal objects in a certain kind of human mind but when the real objects were meals or drinks they always disappeared.   When the present always became the past - when action became history or record only - then the future could tend to subside as well.
- This was why I wanted to be pure as well.  Those who are pure... but I reflected that the ones who want to have something or be something are those who live in the future, or those who dream something at least.
Thinking about cultivating a woman - “nurturing” - as though and all along his whole and main and only problem had been that he’d imagined his future wife to be “established, super-girl-woman” and as though he’d only have to dote on his daughter and carefully train his son, while she was doing yoga in the home-office or training her upper shoulder-muscles and neck-line(?).
Maybe he had seen a movie when he was extremely young, or it was in the air, this “heroine spirit” or it might have been the Protestant - Methodist, Episcopalian - churches.
He remembered writing a letter to _ _ _ at UWM with the hips, the flats.  She was not his type but he was her type.  They approached him at BN, “What are you reading, what’s it about.”  Vulgarly he was like “Slick” from Sinfest; precisely, as tohugh to say, “He looked on her with the Robin Williams-esque love of a man who is not quite 6′0 looking on a woman who wants for a man to be 6′0 and is sometimes sad she is 5′7 and sometimes not.”  It was the last time that he had felt any kind of spiritual(?) lust and after that he only wanted satisfaction or to get married someday, say, after cherishing a woman for a long time or if and/or only if corrollary to establishing a career.
Clear water by a grassy precipice.  Ducks gather, rabbits.  Sometimes people would sit.
A mistake not to bear his Cross of Lorraine to the end - because he was dealing with dangerous idiots.
“What should I write, what should I do, la la la fuck me, why am I asking you.  Aye elbereth gilthoniel, aniron, don’t cross that bridge, don’t answer that question, intent insidious.”
“What would you do if you caught a fish today?”
“Teach it to fish,”
“Should I laugh at that?”
“For years I grew my hair really long because it is shameful for a man to have long hair,”
The problem with Milwaukee Babylon was everything was policed, and privacy itself was a spectacle.
In America once you began to talk of “soul” or “inner life.”  “Fuck me or praise God, in actual fact fuck God and praise me, they should make a TV series!”
Everyone in the mental hospital was talking about Seinfeld; they were talking about “cunts unite poetry.”
The water glistened and glistered.  He remembered reading “Butterfield” or was it “Appointment in Gomorra” and Jessica Jung in black silk, inner thigh where the girl stabbed herself, that muscle that hurt when you skated, Eternity, also Meaning, or more like Gravity / cathexis / destiny.
It was all imprecise.  The point was people were linked but not always nailed together or handcuffed; nor did they know everything about each other.
“I was driving around Madison and listening to ‘Waiting for the Siren’s Call.’  I don’t know why in retrospect I tried to cheer myself up about the whole world when I could’ve kept in hot pursuit of one white home, so to speak.  Then I read ‘Sentimental Education’ as a challenge to myself and after that I didn’t care about challenging literature because blessed are the poor in spirit even when they spy on all reality in spring trenchies and silver dresses.  I didn’t see the point in being epic when I felt that little people, other than Obama, would rule the world.  I should’ve borne in mind that Biden’s Irish-French, is he not?  I should’ve realized that when I set out to amuse myself like ‘get Asian girlfriend ignore frat-party’ or ‘studying sub-Arctic country on tropical island paradise’ it’s not really self-mockery and God is also a comedian to an extent though Man’s existence tragic.  Have you ever seen ‘The Place Promised in our Early Days?’  In past the Midwest fielded Heaven summers and lunular autumns.  The teenagers would all unite around braziers - seniors I imagined.  But when Sayuri is just soaking up love I guess - it’s not the same as old people in sun, a memory of warmth or blessing like an Ozu film with old people on park benches, ‘ii-no.’  Young people dream on beaches.  In Ocean Grove I dreamed of Russia, St. Basel’s.  The rest is between me and God but I reflect now that my first love in a way was ‘not even Stegner’ but Herriott, things bright and beautiful, Creation, or the healing of sick Creatino which is Redemption but rather pre-Redemption which is the physician, but why be the physician when you can be the Lion of Judah or the Paraclete, and in a world so desperate for any kind of grandeur?”

~How I almost died trying to deliver Applebee’s last night~
So if you don’t know i’ve been delivering for DoorDash while i’ve been waiting for the government to get it’s shit together and let me take my real estate license exam. It’s helped a lot in providing some extra income and I really don’t mind it. I meet nice people every day and make good tips. Except last night.. So last night it was pouring rain, which is good for me. People don’t want to leave their house. More likely to order delivery. So i’m out and i get like a $20 order for applebee’s for like 7 miles away. A bit far as i like to stay within a 5 mile radius from the shops and restaurants that I frequent, but i do it because it’s a bit more. So it’s an unfamiliar area to me. I should have known as it had “canyon” in the name. So i’m soon led to just that. A dark canyon road in the middle of the night and it’s pouring so hard i can barely see out the windshield. This canyon road leads me to a dirt road covered in trenches more suited for an off road vehicle than my little nissan suv. So i’m taking it slow more annoyed by the minute then the road narrows even more. On either side of this now very small dirt road are big ravines. It’s now looking less and less like a road and more like driving through the wilderness, and I now notice that my car is struggling to make it through all the mud. The only reason i didn't turn around yet is because my turn is coming up and moment and honestly the road was so narrow I couldn’t turn. Then comes my turn and its up a very steep dirt hill that dosent even look like a road covered in even more deep trenches, water cascading down it like a waterfall. So that’s when my inner voice said “oh... this person can go fuck themselves. I’m calling customer support and canceling this shit..” On top of that i’m worried about turning back around. I can’t see around my car and i know i’m on a very narrow road. So then i get a text from the person like “oh i see on the app that you went the back way. You’re going to have to go up the hill and my house is on the left” Honestly... fuck that lady. No regular car was going to make it up that hill in the pouring rain. I don’t know what she was thinking or what kind of selfish asshole she was to be having anyone deliver her food when she lived in this treacherous wasteland. Like what the actual fuck lady?? So i explain to her that my car will not make it up that hill without getting stuck and i’m likely going to call customer support and cancel the whole thing. Then she’s like well if you come back this way there’s an easier way. So I already have to turn around so i’m like fine. I’ll just go this other “more easy” way and yeah it was just as shitty. The road didn’t narrow and there were no hills, but it was a very long and very trenchy muddy and dark dirt road. I got to her door so pissed. I didn't say a word to her in fears that i’d only cuss her out for asking anyone to do that shit and come to find she was a perfect bodied individual around my own age with several cars in the driveway. I was so pissed. Whyyy would you do that to someone? I live on a very short dirt road and even i would not ask someone to deliver me food when it’s raining like that. That’s dangerous and if i were driving a normal sedan type car i would have for sure been fucked. Anyways... I just left her a bad review on the app. After that i got a very nice old man who met me at my car with his cane and an umbrella telling me he was worried about my commute and apologizing ‘cause he didn't realize how hard it was raining when he made the order and he himself lived in an average neighborhood. He left me a nice tip and then I went home deciding to end my night on a good note.
And that’s why i stay within my 5 mile radius. I’ll add that place to my ‘do not deliver to’ list. That along with apartments. Fuck people that live in apartments ordering food in the dead of night not adding specific directions on how to get to their specific apartment building. When i first started i’d always get those and it’s dark outside so you can’t see any of the apartment numbers, and they always forget to give you the gate code and they almost always always live on the third floor. I’m always checking addresses now before accepting an order. I’ll never deliver to an apartment again. >__>
Anywayyyyyy
that’s all on that topic.
Hope you guys have a nice night. Be nice to your delivery drivers pls.

"Stick to the classics and you can't ever go wrong."
Did you spot my quartet of old faves at Adelaide Oz Comic-Con over the weekend. Please tag and share any photos or videos you took of me, I'd love to see them. OR maybe you were accosted by one of my incarnations for a bit of video (yep Optimus has a camera on him too). In that case keep an eye out on my socials for when I upload my cosplay music video(s), hopefully in the next week.
A massive thank you to everyone who made the weekend at Adelaide OzCC so much fun. It was a great and energetic two days of geekiness that I always love and look forward to every year! And especially thank you to all the wonderful and positive reactions to my cosplays, it makes this old fool feel seen again.

This scene has played out *almost* every year (minus obvious exceptions) since 2009. In the same parking structure, the same section of the parking lot, the same few parking spots, three different cars, numerous cosplays.
Although I had been making costumes before then, AVCon 2009 was my very first convention and pretty much where it all began for me. Sometimes it's with a partner, often on my own. It happens in the morning, it happens in the middle of the day to change into my second cosplay like a diva but always this same ritual of suiting up behind my car, buckling myself in, and psyching myself up for the next few hours. It's the quiet before the storm, my meditation, my ritual.
It's been played out many times since that first time, at many events, in many carparks, and I am most certain I am not the only one. But I just wanted to capture this moment, this tradition, one more time just in case it's my last.
