hoo... absolutely sick to my stomach writing this. ✌ for more information, please read below! thank you all for following my stories, loving my bachelor challenge, and loving my little pixels as much as i do. 😊

Well, my darling fellow simblrs... it's happened. It's been a bit of a long time coming over the past few months, but I've finally decided to put my blog into a permanent sort of "hiatus mode". I am a person who is riddled with executive dysfunction and lack of self-control, and I know that if I don't legitimately cut myself off from Simblr™ and the disassociation it's allowed me, I will. not. quit. 😅

I originally joined Simblr back in 2021 during a really difficult and isolated time in my life. I haven't been able to speak much to it because of the legal issues it's tied up in, but Simblr became my escape whilst in the throes of seeking justice against my abuser in a time where my entire family had abandoned me, and my fiance and I were living alone in my parents' house with only the two of us to swirl in deep and massive depression. Sims has always been my escape; from 2004 onward, it has given me narrative control and visual fantasy for as long as I can remember, and it will always be a deeply comforting and "safe" game for me.

But when I joined Simblr, it was out of many of the reasons that I think we can all relate to as writers and creatives. I had the idea for Loved by the Sun, and as I kept imagining and writing and building this world, I thought: "I deserve to show this to people. I really want people to see this. And I really want them to think it's good." I had been existing on the fringes of Simblr on my own personal Tumblr blog: I've seen countless legacies rise and fall, countless dramas spread out across blogs that are no longer active and haven't been for years. I wanted people to wake up and roll over and check my blog, desperate for updates, eager for more.

And more than anything, I wanted to escape the day-to-day hell I was living in.

But as the years went on, I've noticed that the excitement and creativity that drove my creation of my account has dwindled beyond measure. And I will put that on myself - starting a Bachelor Challenge like Kiss Me in Komorebi was one of the beginning nails in the coffin of my creativity and enjoyment of Simblr. I do not regret it one bit, and I am so grateful for the following it's gained and the genuine enjoyment you've all had with KMiK. It's my proudest achievement, it's pushed me to be a better editor and a better screenshot-taker, it's challenged me in my way of playing and it's introduced me to so many wonderful people.

But of course... I me'd it up. 😎

I've become obsessed to an egregious degree with the perception of my handling of this challenge. I want everyone to feel as though their sim gets enough screen-time, I want everyone to feel that the creative effort they put into submitting their sims was respected, and I desperately don't want anyone to feel left out or as though they're being ignored in favor of other contestants. It became so much less of telling Dan's story and journey, and all about how I was appearing as the Master of the Game.

And to be honest, my obsession with "staying relevant" in the fast-paced scroll of the Simblr Dashboard, believing you all would stop caring or stop reading if I didn't post as quickly as possible, was my own doom from the start, fkdfdjk.

In my life, I've had countless opportunities to turn my life around and start changing for the better. And time and time again, the energy that could have gone toward improving my situation or bettering my relationships has gone toward Simblr, and this online environment. I have practically no life beyond the screen: my days off are spent taking screenshots or spending four hours on builds that I still won't finish, obsessed over every angle, desperately seeking out that ~sparkle~ of simplicity and not-trying-too-hard I apply to all of your screenshots.

I am a dopamine and serotonin fiend, and though I can pinpoint in my life where trauma and isolation has pushed me to my online spaces, I was hyper-aware of the reality that in a few years, I won't be involved in Simblr. I won't be posting constantly, I won't care about the mods or the updates or the custom content.

And the stories I've written will be monuments to the time I've wasted, working on chasing the serotonin monster instead of bettering my own life and my own situation.

And now, I've got a real chance to do something better with my life. My fiance and I are at a crossroads of choice - we can change our lives for the better this year, or we can accept that the years of inaction we forced ourselves into out of the fear of moving forward have doomed us to a life we're not happy with. And I am one stubborn bastard when it comes to giving up.

The friendships and connections I've made here are some of the most meaningful in my life, and I hate that I've pulled back in the way I have. Along the way, it became much more about the notes, the numbers, the interaction, the reblogs over likes - and I lost myself and my friendships to my own mismanagement of my time and energy. I could spend five hours on one build, going from 7am to 12pm in a lightning speed of disassociation and obsessive Alt-clicking, and at the end of the day sit there and go...

What the hell have I done today? I could have messaged someone, I could have chatted with my friends, I could have done something. But no, I built a science lab, or a date location, and fretted the entire time until my stomach felt sick that it just "wasn't right" or wouldn't "look the way I wanted it to" in my screenshots.

I deeply, deeply love my stories, and I am so proud of them and what they've done for y'all and how you all have enjoyed them. I am incredibly lucky for the experience I've had on Simblr, and I know that there are plenty of blogs out there that sit with little interaction when they deserve so much more.

And yes, I will admit. The tendency of a 15-minute slapped together CAS edit of mine getting more notes and spotlight than the posts of my stories I've put legitimate effort into has fucked with my brain.

Simblr has changed from the story-laden place it was when I was following y'alls stories and legacies from 2015 onward. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that! Online spaces shift and change just as much as the social media sites like TikTok and Instagram, that go through trends and phases and fads and memes the same way we do. We are not above other social media in that regard, and I think there's a general sense from Simblr that we're some isolated island; we don't follow trends, we don't have fads, we don't have audio trends that get slapped on every other six-second video.

But I will raise you the Blender Phase and the Edit Phase as evidence every time.

I need to take some serious introspection time, and commit a lot of my energy to things that can bring me positive change outside of this online space. I hope to be able to come back as a better, healthier person, but to be honest, I don't really know when that will be. (Even this post is something I feel I have to do to be responsible, not just disappearing in the middle of this Challenge, leaving you all hanging djfh) I hope this doesn't come off as some high-horse rant, or leave a sour taste in y'alls mouths.

I just... I'll really miss this space. I'll miss the sims, I'll miss you guys, I'll miss your posts and your legacies and your sense of humor. I want to thank so many people, but I don't want to tag you all and shove this post into your activity streams dkfd.

I can't give any commitments to appearing more in Discord or even being present on this space - I've gone to the point of disconnecting the Chrome browser that's for rainymoodlet from my main icon bar, like I am going straight cold-turkey. I'll still be playing Sims, but I'm going to try and reconnect with it for myself - not for the screenshots, not for the stories, and not for the desperate want for people to understand what I'm posting or for it to make sense or satisfy, dfkj.

I am so, so incredibly grateful for every single one of you, and I hate to just drop this out of nowhere. But I need to do this, for me and for my future. And now I'm just sitting here like "Shannon, it's simblr, fucking chill." dkjfd I JUST... this space has done so much for me, and I genuinely feel a sense of loss in leaving. Especially in the middle of a story, fkgjfkg.

I really do genuinely love and care for you all. Please take care of yourselves, okay? Mama Shan does genuinely want the best for you, and I can't thank you enough for letting little old dorky ass me be a part of your community and your lives.

Taff Ebrum - The (almost) 20 year old Kirby OC

You did, in fact, read the title correctly! While Taff's real age may not be twenty, it's been almost twenty years since she was created. She was the first OC I ever created for ANYTHING. Her existence sparked my journey as a storyteller.

Let me start from the beginning.

Taff's creation:

It's December 2006 (I think). A younger me is sitting on the carpeted floor of my living room, it's in the middle of the afternoon, and Mom and I just got back from shopping at Walmart. I had turned on one of the episodes of Kirby: Right Back at Ya! that the DVR had recorded.

The episode playing was Masher 2.0. (which was my introduction to Knuckle Joe) I didn't fully understand what was going on in the episode, so I paid attention to the characters I had attachment to. Tiff and Kirby.

I must have tilted my head a bit, because I heard a light jingle on top of my head. I had deer antlers on, which my Mom had picked up for me at the store. I looked back at the screen.

It was this exact frame that the idea popped into my head. The jingle of the bells stuck with me. Younger me thought back to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, which had stuck with me. I pictured a small little deer at Tiff's side, maybe helping her bring the tray in.

That's when the idea of Taff was born. A small little pet deer. This was, of course, absolutely not a projection of what pet I may have wanted at the time...

...Okay, well, maybe I did want a pet deer, but that's beside the point.

Younger me lost track of the rest of the episode after that, as I got lost into my own world. I pictured different scenarios where the deer could be interacting with Tiff and the other characters. I played some more of the episodes with this thought in mind.

Then, shortly after, I changed the idea around in my head. What if, instead of a deer character, Tiff had an older sister figure? I adored Meta Knight as a child, so I pictured this older sister fighting the monsters that appeared in Cappytown. That's the idea that stuck.

Early life & concepts

To those who may be on the older side, like me, you may remember an OC named "Petunia Ebrum". That was Taff's original name. At first, she didn't have much of a personality outside of "fight bad guy, love little siblings". But that didn't stop me from asking any fanfic author in the early 2000s to include her in their fics. :'D

No one ever did, if you're wondering!

So I decided to do it myself! I made my own fanfiction.net account and began publishing stories. Most of them stayed in my drafts, but some were lucky enough to make it out into the world. Unfortunately, I don't believe any of these stories still exist, as I deleted my fanfiction.net account after my mother discovered I had one. (I was not supposed to be online, you see.)

Unfortunately, I don't recall much of Petunia's early personality. I think I copied what other people were doing for their OCs personalities and placed that into her. Her personality kind of varied, heavily depended on what kind of story I was writing her for. She wouldn't truly become her own individual until 2011-2012, where I realized vaguely copying other fanfic creators wouldn't cut it.

Oh, and the forms floating beside them... well, I may have taken a bit of inspiration from Sonic the Hedgehog's super forms. I'm willing to elaborate on that further in the future! There are some fun plot elements to it ;D

Enough of the past! Let's talk about the current version of Taff!

Backstory & Lore

Taff was a welcome surprise to Sir Ebrum and Lady Like. Neither of them had moved into Cappytown yet around this time. Thus, the beginning years of Taff's life were relatively normal. She was incredibly outgoing from birth, waving hello to every person she made eye contact with. Since the small ocean village they lived in didn't have a school, Lady Like homeschooled her.

Every day after school was over, Taff would run outside to play games with her friends. They would draw shapes in the sand, play tic-tac-toe, build things out of sand, and splash each other with salt water. Sir Ebrum and Lady Like would watch over the children as they played from their porch.

Taff was the kind of child to make sure everyone could be included in their games. She didn't stand for any kind of bullying and spoke up whenever someone said something out of line. The other children followed her without question and she never took advantage of that.

When Sir Ebrum got his job with King Dedede, Taff was devastated to leave her home and friends behind. No amount of begging on Taff's end could convince her parents to stay in their village. They left. Taff's never heard from any of her childhood friends ever again.

Taff hated King Dedede from her very first interaction with him. While Lady Like and Sir Ebrum dressed to impress and acted the part, Taff refused to respect him. She would not bow to him, she would not call him King Dedede, and, she called him the worst insult she could think of at the time... "smelly".

Being the immature baby King Dedede is, he decided to "show that tiny spoiled brat who's boss". That's when Taff saw her very first monster.

She wanted to leave. She wanted to go home. She wailed and begged Sir Ebrum and Lady Like to move back. But they wouldn't. So long as they were in the castle, they were usually safe. They were safe, but the townspeople of Cappytown were not. Taff would watch in horror as monsters rampaged freely around Cappytown.

Sometimes, they would destroy property. Eat animals. Hurt the villagers. And no one did anything about it. Taff tried yelling at the King, she tried to encourage the townspeople of Cappytown to rebel against King Dedede, she begged her Dad to put a stop to it.

Nothing worked. The King acted on his own and no amount of pleading and sobbing would solve the problem.

They needed a hero.

Taff began to search around the castle for something she could use to fight back. To protect the people she cared about. No one else would do it, so it had to be her. Seeing the helpless state of everybody around her only inspired her to rise to an impossible task. To become Cappytown's savior.

After locating a sword in the Castle's basement, she began to practice with it in secret. Since both of her parents were occupied with meeting the King's every demand, they couldn't keep as close an eye on Taff as they'd like to, which left her with an abundance of free-time on her hands.

She got good. She was far from perfect, but she was good. She'd study at every opportunity, practice into the night, and never let her sword out of her sight. Taff thought out her plan as much as possible. She would practice on some smaller monsters, to learn what techniques worked and what didn't.

Taff was far from a master swordsman. But after a month of doing nothing but training, she decided to take on her first monster.

She didn't come out of the fight unscathed. She got really hurt. Nevertheless, she had completed the task she set out to do. Taff had come out victorious. She had defeated the monster and protected Cappytown.

When Sir Ebrum and Lady Like discovered what Taff was doing, they were fully against it. But Taff wouldn't take their no for an answer. Regardless if they supported her decision or not, she would continue to go out every night to fight the monsters off.

She wasn't perfect. She didn't win every single one of her battles, but with each battle, with each injury, she improved. The King was infuriated. Taff's actions could inspire a rebellion in the cappies and that was not acceptable. But it wasn't like he could get a monster to "clobber" her, she'd become a martyr if he succeeded.

King Dedede presented Taff with a choice. Either she become captain of his royal guard or he'd fire her dad and make sure that her and her families lives are hell, for as long as they live. Mortified, Taff accepted the deal. From then on, Taff's free-time was spent serving and protecting King Dedede.

She was also tasked with protecting Cappytown from any outside threats. Taff would be expected to not only patrol the castle, but patrol the outskirts of Cappytown in search of anything suspicious. Years of this torture went by. Taff bided her time; spending her hours of mind-numbing patrol coming up with the perfect plan - one that could take the King down for good.

When Taff was a teenager, she stumbled upon a light purple star-shaped ship; this was how she met Meta Knight, Sword Knight, and Blade Knight. She did not trust them, particularly after Meta Knight voiced his intentions on serving King Dedede. Meta Knight, Sword, and Blade were new factors she had to account for moving forward. It made doing anything against King Dedede more difficult.

She despised them. Later on, she would come to realize that their goals were aligned. But I'll save the details on how that came to be for now. ;D

King Dedede didn't fully trust Meta Knight at first, hence why he kept Taff as the head of the guard. Taff was grateful for this as well at first; she believed Meta Knight to be unpredictable and wasn't sure what he'd do with King Dedede.

Not too long after Meta Knight appeared, so did Escargoon, the Waddle Dees, and Waddle Doo. While that meant these new people would take on the responsibilities she previously carried, which allowed her more free-time, this also meant more people would be keeping a close watch on the King.

Doing anything she had planned was now impossible with all the Waddle Dees. Taff had run out of time.

Then Lady Like announced to Taff that she was pregnant again.

Taff was horrified. After all, Cappytown was not a safe environment to raise children in. She was terrified her younger sibling would grow up and force themselves into similar roles that she had. She desperately wanted them to grow up with a normal childhood, to feel safe, to be able to play outside without looking over their shoulder.

She attempted once more to sway her parents into moving elsewhere. Both of them had grown comfortable with their luxurious lifestyles, and believed the King would not bring harm to their children. Taff came to the realization that there was nothing she could do to stop this and broke.

She could do nothing... except take out the poison at its source. Taff would be sacrificing her own life to protect her sibling. She would take out the King and go on the run. But before she could put her plan into action, King Dedede brought Taff into his throne room and told her that Meta Knight would be replacing her as the captain - but she could still act as a guard.

Taff's plan relied on her authority as a captain, so this ultimately foiled it, and ripped away her last shred of hope. This would be around the time Taff realizes her goals align with Meta Knight's.

Years go by: Tiff is born, Fololo and Falala are adopted into the family, then Tuff is born. Monster attacks become warnings instead of disciplinary measures against Cappytown. They rarely damage property or cause injury. They merely serve to scare the villagers of Cappytown into compliance.

Taff, while working with Meta Knight, does her best to make sure Tiff and Tuff are kept out of harms way. While she's expected to keep a low-profile and obey the King's commands as to not upset him, she WILL attack a monster if that monster is directly placing her siblings in danger.

Younger Tiff and Tuff got along fine with Taff. As the two grew older, Tiff realized how messed up their situation was, and came to resent Taff for obediently going along with the King.

Which would roughly bring us to the beginning of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!

Personality:

Around strangers, Taff can come across as distant and stand-offish. She's purposefully a bit rude to people she meets, although her behavior is subject to change depending on how the stranger treats her. If she deems them to be a threat, she will close herself off entirely. But if the stranger is in need of her help, she'll be willing to show a more gentle side to them.

She does not trust easily and has high walls that surround her heart. Because of this, she is almost impossible to befriend. Even when someone has proven themselves trustworthy, Taff values consistency and will judge the individual for repeated actions.

Taff is a very good judge of character and can often tell when someone carries bad intentions.

Around people she deeply cares about, Taff is a lot more laid-back. Her old outgoing nature truly shines through when she's speaking to them. She enjoys joking around with Sword, Blade, and other friends she has in the castle. She's often the one to carry conversations. Taff goes out of her way to stay on top of her family and friends lives.

She is intensely protective of Tiff and Tuff, so much so to the point where she gets angry at Lady Like and Sir Ebrum for not keeping a better eye on them. She adamantly refuses to let either of them help out in bigger fights and becomes infuriated if others attempt to involve them.

If either of her siblings need her for anything, Taff will be there for them in an instant. Taff is decent at giving advice, but difficult at explaining it in a way that consistently makes sense to Tiff and Tuff. She also enjoys assisting them with their homework; this often just leads to her doing it for them, which she's aware of but doesn't mind.

Taff has lost a lot of her sense of self due to her childhood. She is incapable of picturing a world of peace anymore. Without her title as a protector of Cappytown, she is unsure of who she is. Taff's made peace with the idea of dying for Cappytown and fully believes that she will likely die in battle someday.

Conclusion

There is so, so much I excluded from this post. Almost two decades of brainstorming will do that to a character. I'm willing to reveal more lore for Taff (example: how she changes some of the episodes of Kirby: Right Back at Ya) the further she gets in the tournament.

I'm really excited to have this opportunity to share Taff with the world!!! I don't talk much about my OCs with anyone, so I'm super happy I discovered this tournament. Thank you to the hosts for the opportunity and good luck to all!

i generally have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to the discussion of art (especially online but that goes without saying), which is to be expected as pretty much everyone's exact interpretation of any given work of art and art in general varies wildly person to person, and pretty much any discussion there is to be had surrounding art and the creation of art has been beaten to death over the years (but especially recently due to afforementioned internet),

all that preamble to say that i hate it when people say "its okay to make bad art" or "making bad art is necessary to get good at art" or "make more bad art", when what they really mean is amateur art, messy art, unpolished art, "anatomically innacurate" art, or anything in that vein... because ultimately, there is no such thing as bad art, because all art is subjective (of course), but also because every work of art represents something, something personal, cultural, and emphemeral, it can represent a stepping stone on a journey, it can represent a passion, a fear, an inspiration, a desire, a thought - pretty much anything, and even if you disregard all of the theoretical & emotional elements at play you're still left with the fact that it is significant in some way, and therefore has value -

even when i struggled with my fine motor skills to the point where i couldnt draw a straight line and i struggled with simple tasks like buttoning up a shirt or plugging my headphones in, i still drew constantly because of what it meant to me, because i loved something, because i wanted to share my passions with others, and i still do! and i dont think any of my old art is bad at all, in fact im still very fond of it

Would you look at that, another post that's not about anime? WILD. It is about MXTX novels though so the hyperfixations continue. I'm actually in the process of planning a very lengthy analysis of all three of her series but this is a warning, don't expect too much. I was never good at those in school plus it's been almost 7 years since I've last written something like that but I feel so passionate about her works that I really wanna try to share what I thought about the novels. Nevertheless, this isn't actually those analysis posts since those are gonna be separate and will probably be written after I re-read each series. However, since I'm actually finally fully done reading all her series - including the extra side chapters - I wanted to quickly share some of my opinions and how I feel after finishing all 18 of the books.

This goes without saying but just in case - SPOILER WARNING for Heaven Official's Blessing, The grandmaster of demonic cultivation and The scum villain's self saving system novels.

First off, if you haven't read any of MXTX's work before, prepare for trauma and tragedy. Most of her characters are either deeply traumatised already or in the process of. I will always encourage people to read content warnings before reading her books.

Starting off with my favourite - TGCF or Tian Guan Ci Fu (aka Heaven Official's Blessing). This story means a lot to me. I got introduced to TGCF through the donghua before I even knew it was queer fiction and even with censorship, the closet is made of fucking GLASS so I had to look for the source material. Honestly it took me a while to commit to reading the whole series as I've been struggling to pick up books for years now but TGCF actually got me back into reading (I think in total it took me about 8 days to read all 8 volumes). More than just the story telling being good, I got so incredibly attached to every single character (except Jun Wu, he can eat shit - tho the fact I'm even saying this speaks volumes about how well MXTX can write characters. It takes a lot for me to hate a character this much).

Taking place in a beautiful fantasy world, we follow Xie Lian and Hua Cheng through tragic traumatic past and present and we learn of the horrible truths about the lives of immortal beings. We also see two idiots in love take their sweet ass time to confess. I love me a good slow burn full of longing and pining. I eat that shit UP every time and MXTX gave it to me with every single one of her series.

TGCF for me was a journey full of kicking my feet at fluff, second hand embarrassment (because xl I stg, what do you MEAN you were taught how to resist the advances of women but not how to resist hot men you gay lil shit the closet is made of glass) and honestly, lots of crying. The hundred stabs incident, ruoye's creation and hcg's last death made me sob and scream (no exaggeration, I was stomping around my room, crying and yelling GIVE HIM BACK RIGHT NOW).

Also, in a not so unpopular opinion (I think?), Pei Ming is my fave because 1) he's the no.1 Hualian shipper - check the whole Mt Tunglu adventure for proof and also 2) he's just a lil slut with a big heart. I could seriously talk about him forever because I went from hating him after he tried to throw the blame for the Banyue Pass incident on Xie Lian, to loving him after I realised that everything he does, he does because he is truly just a kind man who loves a good fight. He's so silly! Just a lil guy! Go Pei Ming go!

Fuck you Jun Wu. Again. (I hate him just as much as I hate Mahito. Maybe a little less. I really hate Mahito).

Moving on to my second favourite (but honestly it's such a close one), MDZS or Mo Dao Zu Shi (The grandmaster of demonic cultivation). Take a wild guess about how I got introduced to it... Fandom of course, because very few people talk about TGCF online without mentioning MDZS so I just had to give it a chance.

The great grandmaster of demonic cultivation has been dead for a while but when he gets gifted a new body through a not so well known demonic ritual, he runs into an old acquaintance. We learn about Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's past and current world of cultivation and hear stories about messy betrayals and conspiracies. Aaaand we find out about some more trauma and tragedy because is it really an MXTX novel without it?

And talk about a rollercoaster because (and please don't hate me for this) I found Wei Wuxian annoying initially.... But it's okay now because I kin him so go figure. Tho I actually kin only his adult self, I was a very introverted and rule abiding teenager, a lil more like Lan Wangji. In any case, wwx is the same stupid chaotic bisexual that I am and he is babygurl. Yeah and what if he murdered 3000 people? It was self defense. THEY ATTACKED FIRST. Your honour, he did nothing wrong and he does not deserve to be punished!

On a serious note, MDZS explores so many themes that are personally important to me, my favourite being the power dynamics of the world. It’s truly moving that even with all the pain Wei Wuxian went through, how far in his cultivation and how powerful he got, he still couldn't protect those he loved (until Lan Wangji of course because Wangxian is perfect together and they always protect and defend each other. Wangxian my beloved). While it might be a stretch for some, it really reminded me of how powerless we are in the world. People aim to educate themselves and go on to do whatever they can to better the world in their own way and yet, it really feels like nothing’s improving sometimes. I could talk about this for hours but maybe I’ll leave that for another time and another analysis post since this is supposed to be a shorter one (lmao)

Last but not least, RZFZX or Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong (honestly this one I use the english name for because I can’t pronounce the chinese as much as I try - The scum villain's self saving system or Svsss). This one I actually kinda struggled with - first of all because WHY BUGS MXTX. Not much bothers me in fiction but BUGS? Too far. Heads with spider legs? Raw flesh with maggots? Blood mites? I was out (for about half an hour and then I kept reading). Please note that it's not the raw flesh that bothered me, it was the fucking maggots. I can read about graphic murder, creepy hauntings, torture and many more but as soon as there are bugs? Nope! I’m done. People have phobias and that’s mine I guess. Enough ranting about bugs!

The story follows Shen Qingqiu, the scum villain of the hit web novel Proud Immortal Demon's Way (or PIDW for short, as it's referred to in Svsss) who is actually one of the original readers - and haters - of PIDW, who transmigrates into the book in order to fix the plot holes left by the original author. With his guide “the system” he does his best to lead the male lead of PIDW, Luo Binghe, down a better path than in the original story.

Svsss employs a comedic way of storytelling, with our protagonist being omniscient, it allows for the narration to be sarcastic and poke fun at a lot of moments that are cliche or badly written, as interpreted by sqq. Honestly, this is just a personal preference but I favour the more serious storytelling way of MDZS and TGCF (give me hurt until the very end when the main characters get together and then give me comfort).

To me, Svsss is a lot harder to analyse as a lot of its themes are unfamiliar to me, especially considering I’m the furthest from having any sort of humanitarian education (I have 2 engineering degrees). Using a story within a story, MXTX is able to deliver two main overarching themes; one about abuse and its results through Luo Binghe as well as one about the relationship of author and their readers, the feeling of being trapped by the readers' opinions and wanting your story to be liked through Shang Qinghua (to be honest, I hadn’t really picked up on this one until I saw discussion about this in the fandom).

If I'm being completely honest, I don't think I grasped this series as well as the other ones and I'm finding it hard to digest lbg and sqq's relationship. I'm unsure as to what it is that's holding me back from loving them as much as Hualian and Wangxian. I do tend to prefer tropes like theirs more than the whole "had to convince him to date me" thing which is what Bingqiu's relationship seemed like to me up until the end of volume 3. It’s also why I'm glad I actually followed through and finished the extras in volume 4 (I was really tempted to stop reading once I finished volume 3 not gonna lie). I believe those to be integral to understanding sqq's feelings towards lbh and while I understand that sqq did actually love lbh from the beginning (denial is a river in egypt and the gloset is made of glass - what the fuck is with MXTX's bottoms and the damn glass closet), I struggled to see the tipping point of where he actually understood his own feelings and what was going on in his head and that he was actually in love with lbh. Which is why I think to really understand Svsss, I would seriously need to reread it.

I also would love to eventually talk about queerness in MXTX's work because in each book, sexuality and queerness is explored and examined in so many different ways. As a queer person myself, it fascinates me as I can relate to so much of it. To be honest, I think I could write a short thesis on just this.

Honestly, while I'm very passionate about my favourite pieces of media (if you've heard me talk about any of my top 5 anime you'll understand what I mean), there hasn't been a lot of things outside JJK and MXTX's novels that have made me wanna dive deep into analysing every single detail. It genuinely makes me feel like I'm gonna implode sometimes. These 3 series have seriously reignited my love for reading. I was shown that a good book - in my opinion of course - doesn't need to avoid difficult topics. It simply needs to use them well as a means of delivering a message and a story, rather than them being included just to be included. They also reminded me that I love queer fiction and I need to read more.

I actually would really like to read Erha (or 2ha or The husky and his white cat shizun) but I've read the content warnings and I'm ~~apprehensive~~. While not a lot of things bother me, I'm not sure I want to read about that stuff (please look at the content warnings of this book, or any piece of media in that matter, especially if you have topics that easily bother or trigger you). Remember, it's our responsibility as readers/consumers to look out for ourselves first!

Please recommend any good danmei (other than MXTX) and possibly include links where they can be read! I would also highly appreciate recommendations for some good wlw fantasy fiction as I really would love to read some wlw novels - or even anime/movies/webtoons/manga. Just in desperate need of quality wlw content.

"Big" Manifestations vs "Small" Manifestations :

The concept of big and small manifestations is definitely not something I have not heard, but I want to address some of the issues with phrasing it this way. I have noticed that when people bring up manifesting something big, it can imply that the desire is difficult or not easy to obtain. The opposite applies when we address small desires because this can be seen as easy or realistic. 🌿

Try to take your desired goal and treat it like a math problem. You don't solve an equation in one giant step it happens in small steps. The same is true here. Take your desired goal and break it down into small desires/steps that are more manageable and feel easier for you to achieve. Not only will it make things less overwhelming, but you will feel a sense of accomplishment each time you complete a step to your desire. 🌿

I also recommend trying to use affirmations that intertwine a positive mindset as well as cater to your situation. You can create these or find ones online that you like. In my experience, I found sleeping with affirmation tapes to be the most effective and helpful. Lastly, I encourage you to listen to the following videos. I've watched countless videos by these channels, and they are what pioneered my LOA journey and helped me even to this day. 🌿

Another colourful year is coming to an end and what an interesting one it’s been. Of course, it hasn’t been without struggles and hardships but no year is; on the flip-side some pretty awesome things happened like me finally going on vacation in South Korea after two years of pandemic throwing a wrench in my plan.
