My wonderful friend Haya is only 18 years old and trying to get her sick mother (a kidney failure patient) and the rest of her family evacuated from Gaza to Egypt. They barely survived an airstrike that blasted all the windows out of the house they were in when Israel attacked Deir Al-Balah last week and were displaced again 02/24/2024 and the situation is extremely desperate. Hunger Striking for Palestinians

The genocide in Gaza has been going on for way too long. War crimes are being committed against the general population and causing widespread devastation and catastrophic levels of destruction, displacement, and starvation.

Next week, I am starting a hunger strike to stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza. I invite you to support me by sponsoring my hunger strike.

To support this (safe) hunger strike, I would like you all to contribute to my dear friend Hani’s (@skatehani) GoFundMe campaign, in order to help his family evacuate.

Hello everyone,

Brazil is underwater, and we come here asking you for your help.

As some of you may know, the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) has been getting torrential rains since last Monday (29/04/24).

In four days, it has rained 436,2 millimeters (17,2 inches), which’s triple the normal amount in a month, which is 140 millimeters (5,5 inches) 

More than two great rivers in our region had their volume duplicated, or sometimes, triplicated in size.

This means all the cities that are close to these rivers ended up completely underwater

There were more than 110 towns flooded and the estimate is that more than half a million people have been affected by this climate disaster. There are also thousands of people who are arriving in my city (the state capital, Porto Alegre) as climate refugees, coming from communities displaced by the floods.

Through this unprecedented tragedy we have been really happy to see entire communities mobilizing to help others. Still, there are people who have lost everything, especially those in marginalized communities living in precarious, unsafe and unsanitary housing.

That’s where you come in. We need money. Money to buy food, clothes, medicine, basic hygiene products, mattresses so that refugees have a place to sleep, basically everything.

Right now, the biggest demand is drinkable water: my city is almost completely out of water, because the water treatment stations have been flooded. 

We understand that you may be able to give very little, but also what is little to you means A Lot more to us. Just a dollar is enough to buy 5 liters of fresh water.

The rest are my sisters, including two toddlers, one is 3 years old, and the other is 2 years old.”

“My siblings were university students and had dreams too, but because of the war, they lost everything; they lost the university, our home, and our father. They aspire to continue their studies at the university, but the war destroyed everything. I'm now trying to get them out of Gaza to Egypt to rebuild their shattered lives. To do that, they need to be evacuated, and they need to pay for the coordination into Egypt. Due to war time prices, they're asking for 5,000 euros per person to get them out of Gaza because northern Gaza has been completely wiped out, with insufficient food and people scattered among the rubble of homes under heavy bombardment. Farah from Gaza and her family had their life turned upside down by the occupation. Their homes were destroyed, and her father’s shop— their only source of income, was bombed as well.

Farah was studying at Al-Azhar University, but that was bombed and destroyed as well. Farah, her brother, and her sister have all had their education cut short due to the occupation.

Every day, the situation gets more urgent— so let’s put our efforts into directly helping the evacuation of Farah and her family. Egyptian border fees cost about $7000 per person to leave Gaza, not counting the living expenses when they get there. So,
