“When writing poetry one is always assisted and even carried away by the rhythm of all things outside, for the lyric cadence is that of nature: of the waters, the wind, the night. But in order to shape prose rhythmically, one has to immerse oneself deeply within oneself and detect the blood’s anonymous, multivaried rhythm. Prose is to be built like a cathedral: there one is truly without name, without ambition, without help: up in the scaffolding, alone with one’s conscience.” — Rainer Maria Rilke, from “On Language,” The Poet’s Guide to Life: The Wisdom of Rilke, ed. and trans. Ulrich Baer (Modern Library, 2005)

dude help i just relized that mee seeing patterns in almost everything isn't something that happen automatically in everyones' brains and it has something to do with neurodiversity and i never felt so diffrent in my life
Like all the diffrences in my life even before knowing i'm autistic were clear, and even understandable since i over analyze things my entire life, so i knew about almost every single things that's a diffrence
But the fact that i actually see world literally diffrent just schocked me, like how come others not see it when it's just infront of them ? I need an explaination because non of the sources i usually search from like scince.direct understand my question
Also what do we call this feeling ...? Do you also see pàtterns diffrently ?
Greetings again, I am pleased to see you're still around. And apologies for not answering, I started answering & I had to pause it & then it sort of got under the radar - I am truly sorry, @kidron
I actually have SO MANY inbox messages/asks & I truly want to answer every single one. Do not worry if you sent one & I haven't answered it yet.
What you are referencing to is called
Pattern recognition.
The autistic brain excels at recognizing patterns. In fact, brain regions associated with recognizing patterns (temporal and occipital areas) light up more in autistic people’s than in the general population’s.
People on the Autism Spectrum tend to be very good at finding meaningful patterns in both meaningful & "meaningless" data. They are able to take information, find the patterns within it & thereby explain why things happen.
Overanalysing the world is not uncommon for autistic people & it takes a lot of energy from us.
We truly see the world differently. I can not walk around and NOT see patters everywhere.
It's a skill on one hand because it surely makes me able to excel at analyzing & people do treasure the ability, but given the fact I can not consciously stop it, it is also a burden.
Some examples of my pattern recognition skills (?)
I can usually forsee the plot of a movie after a few minutes of watching it. This also applies to books as well
I can categorize human behavior to general concepts & analyze the meaning behind it (very tiring & it stems from trying to read "between lines" & I actively try to stop that because it is not worth my energy)
License plates. I love to see common patters in numbers & how they connect to the person who owns the car. I also like to decompress by just sitting on a roof & making lists of license plates to categorize them (YES, I am weird, get over it).
Numbers & the beauty of math. I remember the joy I felt when I first recognized some connections between the math operators I learned & the concepts in physics I studied. Real-life connections should be more common in schools because then it would make SENSE to the students.
I can recognize ADHD & Autism in others very quickly due to them being special interests. Mikey calls me an "autie spectrometer" (highly amusing!)
I have been told that my ability to reflect on my own behavior is exceptional

I love reading fanfiction to better understand characters I watched in a TV show or film. I can get to know them so much better from the words on a page, than watching them and hearing them speak.
I see patterns in facial movements, I see gait patterns, I see patterns in the shapes made by limbs and bodies. I hear intonation changes in voices like music. I notice patterns everywhere - it is making sense of these patterns and connecting things with their meanings that I struggle with, greatly.
When it comes to real people, if I watch long enough, I start to pin the meaning to these repeated movements and expressions and sounds. With fictional characters, I can't do that, as I can't ask them what their own behaviour means. I am unable to "read between the lines" at all.
When I read, the words hand me the meaning at the same time as explaining the visual or auditory that goes along with it. There is less necessary "reading between the lines", as those gaps are filled by words much more than on a TV show, where there is only dialogue.
I can tell when dialogue is cleverly written, I can find links and patterns, I can recognise when there is a reference to something - either that happened earlier in the show or timeline, or to something external that I am not aware of. My difficulty is that I simply don't understand it. I can't get all of that information from reading, either, but I certainly have a lot less gaps to fill.
Afterwards, I can rewatch and have a much deeper understanding of the characters. I start to be able to see them as fully-formed people, rather than just the words they say from the script.
I like to read different people's interpretations, also. Whilst it can be confusing, not knowing which interpretation I agree with more (as I can't much interpret behaviour or figurative language at all, on my own), it is also useful in giving me different perspectives to consider.
I might read several different fanfictions on a specific character or pairing, then rewatch relevant scenes several times; each time with one of those fanfiction's interpretations in mind.
Some of my favourite characters ever only became so strongly favoured because I read a fantastic fanfiction revolving around them, and started to understand them beyond the lines of a script.
