Care Bears. Help
Tumblr media
So, as shown in my recent reblogs, I went on a bit of a nostalgia trip recently. I loved care bears when i was a little kid. The Care Bear Family series, The Joke-A-Lot and Big Wish Movies, and the Welcome to Care-A-Lot series, as well as Adventures in Care-A-Lot were Huge hyper fixation for me. I still have some rlly old care bear plushies around, and some figures. (id have to find em tho) Mostly of Bedtime Bear, who's always been my fave.
But I thought, hey- Why not draw All of my favorites? A lot of them are the cousins, tbh mostly just bc when all the characters are just bears - after a while - the lamb or cat character is the only really unique one. 😭 (Tender Heart is also a favorite of mine, but he isnt here bc i couldn't fit him on the page 🥲 rip bear grampa)
The Characters from top right to bottom left are:
Wish Bear, Bedtime Bear, Hugs and Tugs, Grumpy Bear, Cozy Heart Penguin, Perfect and Polite Panda, Gentle Heart Lamb, Proud Heart Cat, Good Luck Bear, and Harmony Bear. :>
Also, most of the characters are modeled after their appearance in The Care Bear Family Series, since its what I have the most nostalgia for. Especially good luck bear. :]
Also, can I just say- I adore how ungendered the characters are in the classic series. Seriously, Its immaculate. To long have we suffered under the tryrannical rain of disney gendering our anthropomorphic animal charachters. These classic designs deserve more recognition.
Like look at Perfect and Polite, The Brother and Sister Panda twins

I'm thinking about the fucking care bears big wish movie again, specifically the implications set forth by it, if you aren't familiar in this movie three fucks named me bear, messy bear, and too loud bear show up in care a lot, and they were said to be roadtripping looking for a new home. This implies that there are other, less desirable bears outside of care a lot?? Like where are they. Did this trio come from the forest of feelings, which is unmentioned in this movie? This drives me insane in the wee hours of the night and I need answers

These are the motherfuckers in question btw

ft. fushiguro megumi, fushiguro toji, gojo satoru, geto suguru, ijichi kyotaka, inumaki toge, itadori yuji, kamo choso, kamo noritoshi, mahito, muta kokichi, nanami kento, okkotsu yuta, panda, ryomen sukuna, todo aoi, yaga masamichi, yoshino junpei, zenin naoya

warnings: not all of these are romantic! reader is lowkey desi coded in some of them. reader is mentioned to have a brother, dogs, aunts/uncles, and cousins in some of them. reader slanders like 75% of the characters. honestly the characters might be ooc too i wrote this two years ago for fun and giggles and just found it again and wanted to post. also tw naoya!
Tumblr media
FUSHIGURO MEGUMI
Literally perfect
Your parents love him
Your dogs love him
You love him
Was kind of quiet at first but settled in eventually and opened up a bit
Was still kind of reserved but that’s to be expected from him
Your mother found it sweet that he tried to hide behind you when your uncles started interrogating getting to know him
He let your younger cousins play with his shikigami so that your dogs could get a break from being bothered
Really liked the salad your mother made and asked for the recipe
1000/10
FUSHIGURO TOJI
Actually not too bad
Was polite enough and liked the food
Showed your parents pictures of Megumi as a baby
They were suitably impressed
Your cousin asked him where he goes to the gym
He told him he doesn’t believe in gyms (thinks they’re oppressive institutions designed to disadvantage the poor?)
Did give him a discount code for some random protein powder that he’s sponsored by though
Asked your parents to donate to his charity
They were happy to do so and thought it was amazing that he has a charity
You decided not to tell them that his “charity” is literally just his bank account
4/10 for scamming your family
GOJO SATORU
Solid 7/10
Goofs around a lot but he did come so he gets points for that
Your parents hated him at first but then he showed them the album of cute Megumi pictures he has saved on his phone and they switched up
“He’s so responsible for raising a kid so young! And it’s not even his!”
Bullshit
He does NOT raise Megumi and you were the one who sent him half of those pictures
Demoted to a 6/10 just for that but at least your parents like him
Also the fact that he had an album was cute
Somehow managed to keep the dirty jokes to a minimum
Your brother kept making fun of his eyes being so blue so halfway through he had to switch the glasses out for the blindfold
Surprisingly high spice tolerance
GETO SUGURU
Honestly really a fun guy!
Actually brought his own dish to the dinner??
AND IT WAS GOOD????
Your mother wants you two to get married now
Asked if he could take some leftovers back for Mimiko and Nanako
Which was very considerate of him actually
Your mother told him he didn’t have to return the dishes she packed the food in
Let your brother win at Scrabble
Listened to your mother talk about the auntie drama
Apparently he’s going to start putting coconut oil in his hair now
Your parents are going to adopt him and kick you out
9/10 would’ve been higher but he didn’t beat your brother’s ass at Scrabble (he wanted to “make a good impression”)
IJICHI KYOTAKA
Similar to Nanami in that he and your father got along really well
Your brother called him “goofy”
He had to go to the bathroom and cry after that
He did compose himself and came back to eat
Can handle spicy food quite well
Complimented your mother’s cooking
Brought flowers as a thank you for the dinner
Was super sweet and grateful to be invited at all
11/10 would definitely invite him again
INUMAKI TOGE
Everyone was really excited to meet him
Let your cousins play with his hair and do his make up and paint his nails
Was your partner for Charades and you two won by a LOT
Kept sneaking treats to your dogs
Your mother ordered seafood for him because he could only speak in rice ball ingredients and she thought he really wanted salmon
He did eat it though
He would be a 10/10 but he accidentally used his Cursed Speech on your aunt so 8/10
ITADORI YUJI
Somehow lit the grill on fire
Managed to put it out but he did lose his eyebrows in the process unfortunately
Looked stupid without eyebrows
Spent most of his time hanging out with the little kids
Your family actually really liked him though
He’s too sweet to dislike
Helped wash the dishes and did not break any
7/10 because you almost had to call the fire department
KAMO CHOSO
Showed up an hour late
Was friendly but kinda nervous and awkward at first
Loved the food
He and your brother are best friends now
Genuinely he gets along better with your brother than with you
Impressed your father with his history knowledge
3/10 was too perfect and now your parents keep asking why you’re not more like him
KAMO NORITOSHI
He hates kids
Spent the entire first half running away from your cousins
Once he finally escaped he got along great with the adults
They really liked how responsible and mature he is
Thought it was impressive that he’s going to be the clan head
Your aunt told you that he was a keeper and you should “marry for money, hope for love”
Started crying when your mother asked him if she could hang up his jacket for him
It reminded him of his own mother who he was forced to leave as a kid
All of your aunts have unofficially adopted him now due to his tragic backstory
Deserves 10/10 just for being relatively normal
MAHITO
-892378/10 your parents couldn’t see him because he’s a curse
He was very happy to hear that and nearly destroyed your house
You had to call Geto halfway through to chase him off
Your family was thrilled to see Geto again though so at least there’s that??
MUTA KOKICHI
Sent a robot in his place obviously
Everyone wanted to know why you brought a robot to dinner
They thought you had hit a new low
You had to explain that Mechamaru was basically his body because of how weak his actual body was
Nobody believed you
-3/10 he was nice but it was overall a humiliating experience
NANAMI KENTO
Cannot eat anything spicy
Started tearing up at the appetizers alone
Had a massive stomach ache afterwards and his face was red for like twenty minutes
Your father liked talking to him about business and the economy and shit
Did not get scared when asked about his plans for the future
Actually has plans for the future
Your brother is kind of gay for him tbh (??) and threatened to marry him if you don’t
10/10 because he still finished everything on his plate so he didn’t seem rude even though he was lowkey dying
OKKOTSU YUTA
Tried his best
Your dogs tried to leave with him because they liked him so much
He brought gifts from Africa for your entire family
Did stop a toddler from getting kidnapped
Is physically really good at grilling but emotionally cannot handle the stress
Had a mental breakdown when you asked for a vegetable burger
Made the discovery that he really likes corn and proceeded to eat all of the corn you had bought for the night so nobody else got any
Summoned Rika and allowed your cousins to use her as their dress up doll
Rika was very nice and enjoyed the experience
She wants to be a fashion model now
2/10 he burnt your vegetable burger and you were really looking forward to having some corn
PANDA
Is a panda
Your younger cousins thought he was adorable
You got asked multiple times if he was a furry
5/10 he was only invited because he had nothing else to do and you had to chase him with a hose beforehand because he refused to bathe
RYOMEN SUKUNA
-1244129/10
An asshole but what’s new
Told your family to “go back to where you came from”
Degraded your parents
Degraded you
Degraded everyone really
You got into a fight with him and Gojo had to intervene
Did ask for one of your mother’s recipes so he could get Uraume to cook it for him
She did not give it to him
TODO AOI
See you thought this would be hell on earth
But it wasn’t???
Played with your dogs
Carried your cousins around on his shoulders
Your uncles were impressed by his muscles
He saved a kitten that was stuck in a tree
Did not ask a single person about their type in women
Annihilated everyone in Wii Sports Resort
Absolutely sucked at Just Dance though
He thought he was too manly for the wrist strap but then he threw the remote into the TV while playing Wii bowling and it broke
6/10 he said he’d pay for a new one
YAGA MASAMICHI
Literally your boss
Only invited him because you wanted a raise
He liked the food
Exchanged sewing tips with your mother
200/10 you got the raise
YOSHINO JUNPEI
Really cool!
Gave everyone good movie recommendations
Someone gave him a baby to hold and he nearly dropped it
Burnt his hand on the grill
Found your uncles’ shitty jokes funny so they all liked him
He was decent at debating with everyone and having intellectual conversations even though he cried whenever someone disagreed with him too harshly
Your parents were very dismayed to see the cigarette burn scars on his face
Your mother told him he could always come to your house if he needed to
4/10 because he almost gave a baby brain damage
ZENIN NAOYA
Told your parents about your sex life
Called your mother “woman”
Your cousins have a crush on him solely based on his looks
He thinks he has a harem now
0/10 they are all like 13 years old

☆⋆。𖦹°‧★ ☆⋆。𖦹°‧★ ☆⋆。𖦹°‧★ ☆⋆。𖦹°‧★
Hongjoong wasn’t expecting much of anything when he got to the food court.
Yunho had dragged him to the mall as emotional support while he clothes shopped. Hongjoong didn’t need anything, so he’d spent the last two hours giving mumbled opinions and sitting on his phone. Now Yunho had run off to the Panda Express queue, leaving him behind to rot (and, presumably, pick them a table). But Hongjoong wasn’t planning to eat. He sat at the nearest table he could find, a cup of lukewarm water from the jug at Spencer’s clutched in his hand.
It wasn’t like he was frugal. He just preferred to keep things to himself. He didn’t need to eat in front of people, so he wouldn’t. He didn’t need to divulge much to other people, so he rarely spoke. He didn’t need to look around him, so he looked at his shoes.
Except for now.
Secure in his seat, Hongjoong took the opportunity to glance around the food court. The walls were wood, the warm brown comforting compared to the glaring white walls from the rest of the mall. The tables were flimsy black ones, not connected to the floor underneath. He carefully placed his cup back onto the shaky surface.
“Oh, my, GAWD! Joong, you will never guess what just happened in that fucking line–” Yunho squawked. Hongjoong listened passively through the drama, nodding everytime his friend took a breath and staring a hole into his flimsy cup.
“And then Maddie was like why are you even here? and I was like the same reason you’re alive, bitch, and then—wait, Joong, look! That hot guy’s totally checking you out!”
Now he was interested.
“Yunho, what…?”
“Over there! The guy with the huge smirk on his face!” Yunho’s eyes bugged, and he pointed very obviously behind Hongjoong’s seat. Multiple times.
The young man was now laughing, his gaze still locked on Hongjoong. And Hongjoong had to admit…he was pretty cute. Godlike, actually. Achilean.
He looked like he was crafted from marble: long black hair, practically glistening in a curve framing the sides of his face. His eyes were slanted, catlike: his teeth a perfect row of white. His jawline could cut glass. His neck was—
“Not my taste.”
“Oh, c’mon!” Yunho whined, shoveling in a bite of orange chicken. “It’s not very often that someone…”
“Likes me? Yeah, well, there’s a reason for that.”
Because Hongjoong didn’t want anyone to like him. And he never would.
Yunho rolled his eyes, continuing to eat. Before he could get halfway through his food, Hongjoong felt a tap on the shoulder. A polite little tap.
Hongjoong hated being touched. Hated being disturbed. Why would someone be bugging him right now? Couldn’t they just fuck right the–
“Hello?” He breathed, the smiling dark haired boy now a foot from his face. He was frozen.
Up close, the boy’s pink suit was much…brighter. Gems everywhere. He smelled lightly of fruit. Everything about him had an air of polished grace. Electric grace. Like he didn’t care who looked. Who stared. Hongjoong’s eyes traveled lower, down the pink sparkles on the boy’s wrist, on his stomach, on his—
“Well, look at that, it’s time for Bible study! I best be off.” Yunho smiled knowingly, walking past Hongjoong on his way out. “Wrap it before you tap it!”
Hongjoong smacked Yunho on the arm as subtly as he could. He was going to kill Yunho later. Wrap it before you—Oh, he was gonna crawl into a hole—
“Well, I’ll take that as a cue to sit?” the boy slowly took Yunho’s seat, and Hongjoong dared to look him in the eyes for the first time. They glinted, a deep shade of brown. Hongjoong looked back down at his water cup, not wanting to meet them.
The boy was poker faced, though. Maybe he hadn’t heard Yunho’s Freudian Trick.
“Well…I’m Seonghwa…” the boy smiled softly, a shy contrast to the dominant smirk he’d worn earlier.
“Okay..” Hongjoong wasn’t sure what to say. “Seonghwa.” The name rolled off his tongue like butter. And after it, he let the silence roar.
“Not one for talking, are you?”
The more that Hongjoong tried looking away from the boy–from Seonghwa’s–eyes, the more Seonghwa stared into them deeper.
He wasn’t as shy as when he’d first sat down, that was for sure. He leaned closer into the table, closer than Hongjoong had ever had someone in his space. Underneath him, the table tilted on its leg, but Seonghwa didn’t even flinch.
“Well, I’ll do the talking, I guess.” Seonghwa grabbed the water cup from under Hongjoong’s hand, taking a swig of it and putting it back in the same hand. Manipulating Hongjoong’s fingers, one by one, around the width.
Hongjoong exhaled slowly, almost too frozen to respond. On the edge of the cup, bright pink sparkle gloss stained the cloudy plastic.
“I’m Seonghwa. I saw you from my seat. I liked your hair. And then you turned, and I liked your face. And now I’m here.”
This boy had some real confidence; Hongjoong had to laugh. He shook his head softly, incredulous.
“What? Find it hard to believe?” Seonghwa raised a manicured brow, managing to look even hotter.
“No, I just–” Joong put his face in his hands, exasperated—“I don’t know, I just...Nothing close to this has ever happened to me, so...”
“Well, have you ever been on a date? Like, a real one?”
A real one?
“No, I just…”
“Are you free on Saturday? I already have a reservation at Mikuni’s. I could use a plus one.”
Hongjoong stuttered again.
There was no way he could let himself do this. He was the shy one. The mysterious one. The Scorpio, or whatever.
And more importantly, he’d never done anything with anyone before. And he was sure that’s how it would stay.
What if he did get with Seonghwa? Marry him? What if he got overstimulated one day, and lashed out at Seonghwa, like he did with everyone else? What if Seonghwa couldn’t handle his anxieties, his mood swings, his baggage?
What if he went out with Seonghwa, and he wanted to go back to one of their apartments afterward? What if he had to say I don’t know or I’ve never done or I’m sorry if that hurts? What if he couldn’t verbalize those things?
And he would not be pushed down. Not again. He’d outright refuse. He’d have to be the on Seonghwa—
Seonghwa.
Seonghwa was looking at him, his eyes a little wider. Expectant.Like a lost little puppy that needed a tug on his collar to keep walking.
Sigh.
“Yes. I mean, sure. Sure, I’ll go.”
//
Hongjoong didn’t know what he wanted to wear that night. He didn’t own any suits. He didn’t own much clothing at all, for that matter.
He kept thinking about Seonghwa’s last comment. I already have reservations at Mikuni’s. Had he made them in hopes of meeting someone that day? If it wasn’t Hongjoong, would it have been…
Another man?
He wasn’t sure why that smarted. He’d seen Seonghwa once in his entire life, and he was already imagining him with other men. Ha. Ha, Ha, Ha.
He decided on a regular pair of black pants with the blandest button up he had. It wasn’t like Seonghwa would care, anyway. He’d met Hongjoong wearing a T-shirt and jeans.
But what if he did care? What if Seonghwa showed up wearing something even more elaborate than the pink suit? What if he was in a whole ball gown and Hongjoong was stuck in his thrifted shirt? Oh, fuck, he should change—
ding.
Or not.
ding.
Hongjoong unfroze, running through the hallway toward the front door. He brushed his sweaty hands down his pants.
God, this was so embarrassing. He was straight out of some cringe movie. Jesus.
ding.
He opened the door.
“Thought you’d keep me waiting?”
Seonghwa was leaning against the door frame, the pink sparkles traded for a plain black three piece with matching black glasses. His hair all slicked back. His brow raised.
Hongjoong crossed his legs and hoped his partner wouldn’t look down.
An amused smile grew on Seonghwa’s face.
“Why are your ears bright red?”
Hongjoong’s mouth fell open, and he stuttered. (Stuttered! Like an idiot!)
Seonghwa laughed, taking his glasses off and folding them on the collar of his dress shirt. He grabbed Hongjoong by the arm, pulling him closer.
“You flatter me.” He said, his voice low. He led them out the door, where his small red Miata was waiting for them, on and humming.
Because of course, the man had a Miata.
The drive was quiet. Seonghwa seemed confident in the silence, but Hongjoong squirmed in it.
He was usually so annoyed when anyone tried to speak to him. He’d sit in the back of classrooms all through school, he took his lunch breaks at work hiding in his car. But with Seonghwa?
Hongjoong wanted to know everything about him. He didn’t know why, but he did. He felt like he’d need to put on a show tonight; talk as often as he could, or risk losing his chance. Losing his Seonghwa.
They got to the restaurant, and Hongjoong watched as Seonghwa talked to the waiter (reservation for Park Seonghwa, yes that’s Park with an R…) and grabbed his hand once more to lead him down the rows of seats, rows of people, smiling people.
The room smelled lightly of sage, and the deep red walls were set off by the lights above every table. The waiter left them alone with their menus and their awkward hitched breaths.
Seonghwa already knew what he wanted, (Had he been here before? With another—)
“Man, I missed sushi. I used to get the Safeway kind nearly every night after work.” Seonghwa said. “Do you work anywhere? Or do you live at that mall?”
The way Seonghwa leaned against the table, sitting under the dim lights like Hongjoong was the most interesting thing he’d laid eyes on…Hongjoong crossed his legs again.
“Well, it’s not the most exciting work. It’s just a grocery store deli job. I cut the lunch meat, or whatever.”
And made the sandwiches that he couldn’t afford on the store’s own salary. And dealt with all the most obnoxious rich customers in the entire city. And sat unblinkingly in his car for an hour at the end of every shift because he was too drained to move.
“So I should get sushi at your store next time, is what you’re saying?”
The waiter dropped their sushi rolls off, and the conversation paused as they said their thank yous, organized their cutlery, their drinks.
“Well, where do you work so late that you don’t have time to make dinner?”
Seonghwa sighed.
“Well, I work at the law firm down F street. But I’m just a secretary, and one of two secretaries, at that. Nothing special.”
Hongjoong had gotten a spicy combo roll, but it was hard to take a bite when he was too busy looking at the light glinting over Seonghwa’s skin.
“How late does a law firm stay open?”
“What?”
“Are you picking up Safeway dinners because it’s so late you can’t cook, or can you just not cook for shit?”
Seonghwa got flustered in a way that reminded Hongjoong of the brief moment he’d seen at the food court the other day. Hidden glances under the shell that he hoped he could—maybe, one day, potentially—break.
“I leave at five. I just can’t cook for shit.”
Hongjoong couldn’t help it. He giggled through his chopsticks.
“Don’t laugh at me—!”
“No, no,” Hongjoong snorted, “you’re fine. I’ll do the cooking, you’ll do the cleaning, I guess.”
“Oh, am I your little housewife now?” Seonghwa, ever quick to recover his confidence, quipped.
“Of course, why else would I be here?”
Their laughter calmed down, and Hongjoong stared into his sushi platter as he finished the last of the roll. He could’ve gotten something on the side, but he was still a bit anxious about the night, and he figured going lighter was better.
“Why did you come here?” Seonghwa asked, looking down at his own plate. His voice sounded suddenly small.
Hongjoong was caught off guard.
“What do you mean? Well, you asked me!”
“No, that’s not what I meant. You’re clearly super new at this. No offense, of course,” Seonghwa reached for his hand across the table. “I just don’t know why you’d say yes to someone like me.”
Hongjoong was less new than he looked. But of course, only he would know that.
“Well…are you done with that?” Hongjoong pointed at Seonghwa’s sushi.
Seonghwa meshed his brows together.
“Well, yeah, but…”
“Let’s pay, get back to the car, and then I’ll tell you.”
//
Seonghwa slumped into the driver’s seat with a dramatic exhale. He sat for a minute, not looking at Hongjoong, who’d been playing absently with his fingers since he shut the passenger door.
After a moment of silence, Seonghwa finally met Hongjoong’s eyes. They were like little boba pearls, catching the light reflecting from the street lamps and twisting Hongjoong’s stomach.
“So..?” Seonghwa broke the silence.
Hongjoong took a breath.
“If we’re being completely honest. I don’t know why I’m here. I don’t like people.”
Hongjoong broke from Seonghwa’s gaze. He wasn’t sure he could stand it. But he managed to continue, hushing his tone.
“I think I like them and I try to be more talkative and then I regret it, or I get overstimulated and snap at people until they think I’m weird and leave, or I get depressed and stay in my fucking bed until everyone stops texting me.”
Seonghwa opened his mouth, but Hongjoong interrupted.
“Except Yunho, of course. The apocalypse won’t make him stop texting me.”
Seonghwa put his face in his hands to stifle a laugh, but when Hongjoong started laughing, he joined.
“Where did you find that guy, anyway?” Seonghwa asked, cautiously patting a tear from his eye (was he wearing mascara?).
“The fuckin gutter, I guess.” Hongjoong said. “I met him in middle school.”
“I still can’t believe he said wrap it before you tap it. And you just let him leave—“
“Okay, well what was I gonna say? Thanks, Yunho, I’ll double rubber just for you. Have a nice Bible study-“
He stopped, nearly choking on his own cackles. Seonghwa was still laughing, too, and he absently reached for his hand to play with the boy’s fingers.
“Oh, so you want to rubber, then?” Seonghwa said.
The blood rushed to Hongjoong’s face (and somewhere else). He stuttered a bit, but Seonghwa spoke again before he felt pressured to respond.
“I’m kidding. You don’t have to think about that. Unless you want to, I mean—“
“Oh, no, there’s been moments…”
“Moments?” Seonghwa started laughing again.
WHAT WAS HONGJOONG SAYING?? What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck he was such a bumbling idiot—
“Oh, no, I mean, I don’t, I didn’t mean that, like, I just meant like—“
And Seonghwa’s lips were on his.
// AAAA thank you for reading!! warning: chapter two is basically pure smut throughout the whole thing, and will get into some of the secret backstories of both characters which do include a bit of trauma. but i’ll update when it’s done!

Not me watching Kung fu panda and starting to view the relationship dynamic of Shifu and Tai Lung as that of a father and his firstborn daughter.
From the first part (when Tigress narrates about them) i find so many parallels with the childhood of a daddy's girl: the care, the beginning of a strong bond, the faith in Tai Lung's great destiny (in a field that Shifu, the 'father', has mastered, which not only allows him to be a guide but also excited because they share his interest). This way, Tai Lung believes his 'father' and has to be at the same level of his high standars, which leads to him internalizing Shifu's expectations and strictness: he had to be a great warrior (he showed early talent and was also the first student to reveal the thousand scrolls of Kung fu, so hella impressive); but he needed to be the Dragon Warrior.
However, as he grows, both are faced with reality. The daughter shows signs of being different of what his father thought (Tai Lung's destiny full of greatness was not what he was told), and the disappointment she feels is only surpasses by the one of her father. Of course Tai Lung destroyed everything, he had a rage only compared to that of a woman who feels betrayed by those closest to her, even herself (because it is obvious that he blames Shifu, but deep down the pain comes from Tai Lung's realization that he cannot be more than himself, as his master had visualize at first). And, of course, they had a painful battle. That's how a daughter realizes she no longer is her daddy's girl, and the father distances himself. Despite all the similarities that they may share or the expectations for her, she is just a growing woman that he can't control, not her future, not her rage. And that's when the father starts to feel a certain fear of her, of what this girl freeing herself is able to do. In Tai Lungs case, Shifu is concerned because he knows only a part of his students' power, one he wasn't able to stop when confronted.
From the second part, when they are fighting while the people of the valley run away, the daughter-father relationship continuous, but this is the dark reunion in which they finally talk their feelings. Or at least that's what Tai Lung does.
On the one hand, Tai Lung spent years being imprisoned. After showing his fury, he was isolated and under severe vigilance while rotting. His pain comes from the realization that, despite all the preparations and training to be what another longed for, Shifu wasn't even capable of moving a finger when Oogway denied him as the Dragon Warrior. The tittle wasn't the source of his rage, it was the quick resignation of Shifu.
On the other hand, Shifu doesn't even acknowledge his responsibility (truly a 'daddy issues' kind of parent). He denies his blame. He denies everything; at the scene they meet each other, Tai Lung literally says "I have come home, Master" and Shifu denies their past, their feelings, the right of Tai Lung to call that place his home ( where he was raised ?!?!?). Many daughters spend years trying to be nice and polite to their fathers in order to regain the love and friendship they shared in her childhood, but it is all in vain. They can't go back in time. In Tai Lung's case, the cut is even deeper because Shifu now has Po, a new student who can be able to fulfill his expectations. A new favorite, as he says.
However, the moment I started to think about their relationship from this "daddy issues" point of view was much later in the film, when their battle is finishing and Shifu is losing.
Because that's when Tai Lung starts to scream that he did it all for Shifu. He desired the love of his father so much that he was able to endure the most extreme training that said father put him through. Similar to some firstborn daughters, Tai Lung only wishes to be recognized. To hear his father tell him how proud he feels, even if he is not the Dragon Warrior. To feel, for once, as if he does not need to do everything perfect because he is, in fact, enough.
And when he finally hears it, when Shifu finally says those words, it's too late. Anyone can see that Tai Lung hesitates for a second after such confession. It is but a moment, in which he clearly reconsiderates their situation. He could stop, they could apologize and take another route. But how can a simple 'I'm sorry' replaced years of sadness and rage mixing in the coldest isolation. Why couldn't he said so from the beginning? Why couldn't he love the daughter the way she asks him to be loved? Why does she need to ask? Is it because, deep down, both know she is not enough? Is Shifu saying the truth or is he only lying in order to protect the valley? How could we expect Tai Lung to forgive him so easily?
So, in conclusion, Tai Lung is just a girl and had severe daddy issues that more than one eldest/firstborn daughter can understand. I mean, who hasn't dreamed of shouting their rage in a kung fu battle against their stupid father?

Kamo Noritoshi Headcanons
SOULMATE
f!reader
Tumblr media
i imagine neither of you believe it
your clan is known as scholars of the jujutsu world. wise beyond years; cursed with knowledge and understanding. and an ability to see demises, so it’s said
that means you already knew your place in the jujutsu world when you could understand what a curse is
even though your schooling is different than the normal sorcerer route, you’ve taken up faculty in Tokyo as the school’s ‘Director of Curses’ - in literal terms a librarian
you’re young, barely a year or two older than third year students
an emergency had come out and the Kyoto students were brought out to Tokyo- scared murmurings taking over campus
which you ignored of course you can’t be bothered by politics
you’re just walking from your faculty apartment to the cursed library to finish translating an old text for a sorcerer
it’s then you run into the first and second years
who look like they’re ready to fight due to their dislike of the other school’s students
itadori drags you out there with them
in mere seconds you’re near the entrance to the school and see the unfamiliar figures
your eyes scan over the students until -
a tall boy with black hair, longer too, eyes wide open with starlike blood marks splattered
for a second the two of you swear you can’t breathe
your insides churn as you know what this is
so does everyone else
the kamo clan having blood matches is a fun story to tell
it’s like fantasy everyone’s heard about but never will see
in that moment everything within noritoshi shifts as he looks at you
your body feels hot. feels like your blood is thickening making you feel full and nauseas
you’re out
noritoshi is panicking
you’re passed out on the ground, who’s name he didn’t even know
and you were his blood match
him, the heir to the kamo clan is the one to finally get his blood match something he wishes his mother could have been to his father
he’s literally scared though. never had the thought of having a partner
he’s not going to open up to you - who now, his clan would expect him to court
so he runs
the following weeks have been hectic so you hadn’t seen noritoshi once
more like you’re avoiding him
you barely leave the cursed library where few can enter
the week that followed, you heard nothing of the man you were meant to be fated for
then that changed and he wanted to meet you -per panda’s word
you aren’t sure how you feel, it’s all too fast
one day you’re leaving your room when your ambushed by megumi. he wouldn’t move out your way till he ‘delivered you to kamo’ , and some reason noritoshi trusted him to do it
you can’t argue with the much stronger sorcerer as he pulls you down the hall
your heart is racing
you’ve had too much time to think, to research, to listen to gossip
this is someone that you’re supposed to be with for life this is no light thing
and you know nothing about noritoshi and only bad things about the kamo clan- so you know how serious he’ll be
and you know the clan knows and are insistant on the courting process to get moving
noritoshi isn’t alone in the room, a bunch of elders sitting with him
it’s the most awkward conversation of your life and you’re ready to die
expectations upon expectations are being placed on you
be the perfect wife to the sorcerer in the room with you.. who was younger than you! who doesn’t know the first thing about you
y’all are left alone then
and he’s just staring at you like you’re his entire world and more
“I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself sooner.”
he’s polite to you, clearly trying to keep his distance even though you can tell he wants to touch you
but you can’t handle it
so begins the following weeks of your cat and mouse game
noritoshi has practically had to move to tokyo just so he can see you
sits outside the library waiting for you
is like your own shadow
until one day he’s finally able to get you to listen. he gets you cornered in a hall, trapping you in his arms
you can’t deny he’s attractive, you can’t deny the feelings towards him in your chest
“stop running from me.”
“i don’t know you.”
“then let’s get to know each other. can i take you on a date?”
you realize he’s so kind, generous towards you, and very a tentative to everything you have to say- like all his pride and cynicism is out the window with you
he feels happiness from you and is ready to give you the whole world and more
he hangs on your every word like it’s his bible
slowly but surely over the weeks you two gets closer and realize besides being soulmates- both of you want to date
kisses you with all the passion in the world, grasping you tight as if you’d disappear at any second. long and loving kisses, or sloppy and quick as you two lay in bed to cuddle
forehead kisses, quick pecks in passing
always wants you in his sight which is impossible because you’re in tokyo and he’s in kyoto
which means even if you don’t want to, you’re moving to kyoto
issue is- you are his.
cannot handle the thought of anyone else having you or you being taken away
he has a slightly dark way of viewing his ownership over you but he just thinks he’s worried for your safety
you both open up your inner wounds to the other, talk about future, family
you’re a nervous wreck about him taking jobs, even if he is unbelievably talented
his family decides y’all are to be married within the year
which you’d prefer having longer time to get to know him but oh well
y’all’s hearts belong to the other, blood matched and the constant yearn to be close is always taking over
he stays up as you sleep, rubbing your back
learns how to do hair because you love having it curled or in braids
is the type that follows you while you shop- holding all your things and watching your mini fashion shows
in a way he’s becoming your best friend and you two are properly falling in love with each other along the way
veryyy protective over you
has to know where you are at all times
drives you nuts with that for sure
also like you end up bffs with the kyoto (besides mai bye) squad but you definitely miss tokyo (especially nanami)
plays with your hand as you watch tv, places soft kisses on your skin that make you shiver
i feel like he’d properly ask you out and for your hand in marriage so it’s all ‘normal’ as if fate hadn’t predetermined you two to fall in love
and he’ll make sure you always feel loved, always are protected in ways he wish him and his mother were
i feel like after long amounts of angst dealing with the tension of being each other’s soulmate- it would go amazing :)
haha this was long like damn shoulda just made it a fic
had this idea bc i love soulmate shit and was like waittt the blood techniques makes it interesting i can use that

Okay all right okay I've been enabled, I'm gonna go full Pepe Silvia with my Care Bears villain headcanons, here we go:
Beastly, at one point, long ago, was a Care Bear cousin.
His original name was Beast Heart, his domain was idk wild roughhousing fun on the playground or something. Looked like a fuzzy Treat Heart. More dusty pink than brown.
"What happened to his arms and legs then?" mutated by evil. Anyway,
Like Polite Panda and Perfect Panda, he was separated from the Care Bear Family as a baby. cub. piglet? Whatever.
He stumbled on some poor kid stuck in tragic life circumstances, was instinctively driven to try his best to help out, but like, he was a baby, they were both babies, he couldn't help.
baby Beast Heart and the kid get ~*suuuuuper traumatized*~
the kid also has a sibling who had just as rough a time, but who DIDN'T have a baby Care Bear Cousin to help prop up their crumbling mental health, so they came out even worse off. this sibling spawned Shreeky.
the kid gets enough magic power to break out of his terrible situation and resolves to inflict the pain he went through on the rest of the world. Caring only hurts you, caring cannot save you. No one will care ever again.
Beastly's all in on this. He went through the same rotten childhood.
They're like. Super codependent.
They adore each other, but they can't say so out loud with their words because the language of "love" and "caring" and "goodness" has been poisoned to them, they're both in on the "bad is good and good is bad" backwards-talk so both of them know how the other one feels but they can't talk about it directly.
Despite the mutual (unspoken) caring, their inability to express their true feelings directly hampers their ability to have complex & open communication, so despite being each other's best support system they've been stuck in the same mutually unhealthy mental place for centuries.
Anyway, in conclusion:
No Heart actually took Beastly's last name in the wedding.
Yeah his first name is "No."

Triton and Pandae Quotes
Triton
“So, you still worried about your baby sis huh? She’s almost an adult ya know. You can’t keep babying her forever,” Triton said, snickering as he walked alongside his cousin.
Zagreus grunted. “There’s more and more titans popping up lately. She might think I’m being overprotective, but you know as well as I do how dangerous they can be,” he said, narrowing his eyes.
“Yeah, but I also know there are exceptions to the rule. I mean, look at my ma’s side of the family.”
“That’s different. You’re not one of them, so don’t try to pull that crap….”
Triton smirked and slung an arm around his shoulder. “Ah relax a little. I know you’re just trying to protect your family, I can respect that. If my girls were in trouble I’d be the same way. If anything goes down let me know. You’re family too after all,” he said.
~~~~
Dai Tai blinked as she noticed the slightest of tugs on her hair. “What the-?” She looked down and saw Triton was braiding a part of her hair. “Um, excuse me?” she asked.
Triton waved a hand. “Sorry, sorry. I was bored. And it's a force of habit, ya know. I got three girls after all, and one of them wants to try out all these hairstyles the mortals are doing and junk,” he said. “Hey, ya wanna see pictures of them?”
“Ugh…”
Before she could answer, he formed a bubble in his hands, and a image of three young girls popped up. “There they are! That’s Triteia, that one is Pallas, that one is Calliste! Ain’t they adorable? Pallas is the one who wants to try out all those new hairstyles. The mortals sure know how to make stuff kids like, don’t they?”
Dai Tai smiled nervously. She had a feeling she should have politely refused when she had the chance.
~~~~
Triton narrowed his eyes down at the young boy, a scowl on his face. “So, you’re the little one my youngest has been seeing visions of huh?” he said, kneeling down to get a better look at Dusk. Even crouched down the tall god still loomed over Dusk. “What’s your name, boy?”
Dusk raised an eyebrow. “You… there’s no way you don’t already know my name.”
“You sassin me boy?” Triton asked. “Don’t go thinking just because you’re Queen’s Titania’s kid you can go getting all cozy with my daughter.”
Dusk turned and began walking off. “Mom, there’s some weird guy here.”
“You running off to your mama?! What kind of man are you?!”
Pandae
“Big brother Asterossa. I’ve come to Mewni in search of worthy opponents. Tell me, are you children of age yet? Surely they’re old enough to have-”
“No,” Astro said, cutting her off.
She looked surprised. “By why?”
“Because if I let you fight you’re going to go overboard.” Maybe not with Dorado, but most certainly with Lacerta. And lord help them if she ended up coming across Scent. “I’ll spar with you later if I have the time.”
She was silent for a moment, but then pouted and looked away childishly. “You never have the time. You're always too busy doing kingly duties.” This was just like when she was younger. Taiyo always had Umbriel to play with, but Astro was almost always too busy to hang out with her.
Astro sighed. “Tartarus help me… come get your child Heracles…”
~~~~
Pandae raised her club and pointed it up at the beast. “Heed my warning creature! You stand before the mightiest of Heracles children! Relent now and you will be spared! Proceed and you will meet a most unfortunate end!” she shouted.
The creature just roared back in response, and Apollo chuckled from beside her. “I don’t think it can understand your words,” he said.
She raised her club up higher. “Then perhaps it will understand my club!” She charged forward, ready to attack, while Apollo shook his head. She was certainly an energetic one. But he could’t find himself to dislike her despite her usual choice in company.
She was, after all, a perfect combination of beauty and power.
~~~~
“Are there any heroic deeds or labors that you need from me, Hera?” Pandae asked. She had initially been distrustful of the blonde. Partly because she had taken her aunt Asterope’s spot as supreme goddess, and partly because she had a great dislike of the old Hera. But she had since learned that the woman was quite nice.
Hera smiled back at her. “Not today dear. Please just keep an eye out for any trouble though,” she said. The girl had a strong sense of justice, much like her father. And she always wanted to be useful.
Pandae pounded her chest. “Rest assured, no enemy will break through our gates while I am here!” she said.

Hi again....Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks....
I'm going to split them up between my favorite male and female characters, because there's just too many!
I'll start with the boys:
Laurent from Captive Prince- Laurent is my favorite character of all time. Everything about him just comes together in a perfect storm. His humor. His cast iron bitch attitude. The way he puts up armor to protect himself but lowers it when he's surrounded by people who actually care about him. The way his trauma is handled. And I'm fully aware the reason I love him so much is because we see him through Damen's eyes. We start out seeing a spoiled brat, and we learn the truth of him slowly. I can't even find the words to describe how much I love him and why.
Tumblr media
The rest aren't in any particular order:
L from Death Note- The first anime character I was obsessed with, because he was one of the weirdest characters I'd ever encountered but somehow he shared all my habits. He sits like I do. He eats tons of sugar, like me. He's bad at social interaction, like me. And (spoilers!) he was one of the first characters with a death that truly impacted me emotionally. I'm totally showing my age, but I will always love this ridiculous trash panda.
Tumblr media
Xie Lian from Heaven Official's Blessing- It might be recency bias, but he has skyrocketed to my top favorite characters list. I have a weakness for characters who have gone through hardship and come out smiling no matter what, and damn if that isn't Xie Lian. He really shows the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows in humanity, but he still believes everyone deserves to be cared for. He's also absolutely hilarious, and I love the dichotomy of having this (formerly) insanely strong martial god be so mild mannered and polite (most times).
Tumblr media
Izaya Orihara from Durarara- And so begins my love of absolute shitheads. I don't have an explanation for this. I just love the idea of an information broker in a big city who knows everything about everyone and uses it to stir up trouble. And of course I love his flippant attitude that can change on a dime (and his extremely homoerotic relationship with Shizuo). I appreciate characters who always have something up their sleeves.
Tumblr media
Wylan Van Eck from Six of Crows- Similarly to Xie Lian, I love Wylan because of the dichotomy of his character. He can be so mild mannered and shy one moment, and the next he's making bombs and threatening to drown his romantic rival in a river. He's also the only YA character I can think of with dyslexia (aside from Percy Jackson characters, who are technically middle grade), and I'm glad that it never gets associated with him being "stupid." Wylan is smart as hell while also being sensitive and creative.
Tumblr media
Magnus Bane from the Shadowhunters series- Probably the funniest character I've ever encountered. A chaotic bisexual warlock who insists he doesn't want to help but ends up helping anyway while complaining the whole time? Sign me up. He's fashionable. He's powerful. He's a father of two and a crazy uncle to everyone else. He's everything. Alec is just Ken 😆.
Tumblr media
Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet- My forever boy. The protagonist that aided in my asexual awakening. I loved having a main character in a children's movie that was dealing with his angsty teenage years in a realistic way AND DIDN'T END UP WITH A ROMANTIC INTEREST WHO SOLVED ALL HIS PROBLEMS. He's reckless, but he's also very smart and cares about doing things right.
Tumblr media
Fushi from To Your Eternity- (technically more like nonbinary or even gender fluid, but he mostly identifies as male so I use he/him a lot). Another take on an immortal character that I love! I love that we see him learn how to become human from scratch and how he forges relationships with people throughout hundreds of years. I was debating about whether to put Bon or Kohaku on here instead, but I think Fushi and his journey will stick with me longer.
Tumblr media
Nico di Angelo from the Percy Jackson series- This is a character I feel like I've grown up with. He was one of the first canonically gay book characters I'd ever seen (this was back when queer characters in YA were almost unheard of, let alone in middle grade books). But Nico was one of my favorites even before the reveal. I loved seeing how he went from a nerdy, hyperactive kid to a brooding pre-teen to mellowing out the way he is now. I'm a sucker for the mysterious side characters that show up every now and then to make the audience wonder if they're really on our side (especially ones with really dry humor).
Now the girls!
(Uh...spoiler alert I guess) Akito Sohma from Fruits Basket- My favorite anime villain of all time. Part of why I love her is because of the build up. For a long time, we only hear about Akito, and we don't know what to think about her. Then we meet her, and she seems...off, but the characters all have different reactions to her. And then we learn how fucked up she is. She's a great example of a character who does awful things, gets a tragic backstory and a slight hint of a redemption arc, but it doesn't change how the audience views her. Her backstory helps you understand her, but you never really forgive her for the shit she's done. She's manipulative, abusive (in every way you can think of), creepy as hell, and yet I still love her because she's insanely entertaining whenever she's around.
Tumblr media
Daria Morgendorffer from Daria- This character was basically me in high school, in both looks and mannerisms. I molded my entire personality after her. I love characters with dry humor and I still quote this show relentlessly to this day. Daria was for all the girls who felt like total outcasts because they spent their time reading instead of making friends, but she also showed that you kind of need other people to...well...not be depressed. Also, it might not be explicitly canon that she's asexual, but there is an entire episode revolving around how she's doesn't want to have sex with her boyfriend...so do with that what you will.
Tumblr media
Emma from The Promised Neverland- READ THE MANGA I'M BEGGING YOU! My insanely smart, redheaded mastermind of a daughter is such a great main character. I love having a young girl who is cheerful and optimistic while also kicking ass the same way shounen protagonists do. She's so friendly and hopeful that even though the story is super grim, we want to believe she can find a solution to every problem even when it seems impossible. Such a shame we never got a season two...wonder what that would have been like....ha...ha...ha................
Tumblr media
Inej Ghafa from Six of Crows- I was trying to keep myself from using characters in the same series, but I couldn't help it. She's just so well written. She's badass. She's vulnerable. She's smart. She puts so much stock in faith but it doesn't make her weak or evil. She ties the group together so well, and she and Kaz are so ace coded it hurts!
Tumblr media
Yona from Akatsuki no Yona- I haven't finished the manga yet, but she's another great example of a perfect character arc. Yona starts out as a typical teenage princess. She was never mean or a bad person, but she was selfish in the way most spoiled teenagers are selfish in that she didn't think about the world outside her palace walls or anyone besides the guy she liked. But when she's forced to run for her life, she sobers up and sees the world for what it is very quickly. And instead of relying on others to do things for her, she learns to fight and helps the people of her country the best she can. She's a character who we learn with and grow to love over time.
Tumblr media
Kino from Kino's Journey- Definitely one of the most interesting characters I've ever seen, and I mean that in the sense that we don't know much about her at all (until the end of the 2017 anime at least). She is a great example of a solitary character who still loves interacting with people. She's not insanely smart. She's not a badass bitch (she can defend herself and fight because she has to, but she's not a fighter). She's not magical or the chosen one. She's just an average person who wants to experience as much of the world as possible.
Tumblr media
Yuuko from xxxHolic- idk what to say about her, she's just the best. She's got chaotic wine aunt energy for days, but she's also got this hidden Dumbledore-esque wisdom and tragedy under her fabulous outfits. I feel like her and Magnus Bane would be best friends.
Tumblr media
Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games- People who've only watched the movies will never understand. Her dry humor and rough around the edges personality are just so well written, but so many people relegate her as a stereotypical "girlboss" YA protagonist in a love triangle. She's brave. She's funny in subtle ways. She's kind of an asshole but not in an off-putting way. I like Katniss because everything about her feels so genuine. Her love for her family and the way she deals with the world around her are so...real. And I think that's why so many people connected to the series. READ THE BOOKS!
Tumblr media
Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter- I don't care if it's cringe, I was fucking obsessed with her in middle school. Again, I'm drawn to characters that have experienced trauma but still come out smiling. I think Luna helped a lot of people who didn't fit in feel more at home in the world. She's fun, she's kind to the people who need it the most, and she's a great friend who helped save the world!
Tumblr media
Linda Belcher from Bob's Burgers- This might seem like a silly pick, but I just love her spirit! She's the ultimate mother figure and supportive wife who also has a distinct personality with wants and dreams of her own. So often, moms in cartoons (or anything really) are relegated to being support or a background character for their husbands or kids, but Linda demands a starring role. She loves her kids and her husband and will go to the ends of the earth for them, but they also frustrate her in a very human way. Episode 1 of the new season shows her breaking down in tears because she just doesn't know how to manage the kids, and I think that's something a lot of parents probably go through. I'm not a parent or a spouse, but her struggles and general mom energy feel so real.
Tumblr media
There you have it. I really wanted to put a Vinland Saga character on the list, but Thorfinn, Canute, and Askeladd are all so well written I couldn't decide on one, so I had to leave them out 😅

Prompt #20: Hamper
Characters: Ivaurault, mention of Armand @thedarknesssings, Dauvaunt @pocket-panda, Osmont @klynk-klank
Tumblr media
Crack!
The sound of a lance striking a target splits the silence, cutting through the evening air like a knife. Above the sky had already turned dark, the moons already starting to peek over the spires of Ishgard; most people, especially those fortunate enough to reside in the grand, sweeping estates, had long since retreated inside for supper.
And yet a young boy of perhaps eleven or twelve summers continues to linger on the grounds of the Courcelle manor.
His sharp green eyes are fixed upon the target in front of him, as though it had personally offended him. His breath heaves in his chest as he steps back, his lance in hand. Sweat trickles down his skin despite the chilliness of the air as he brings the dulled point of his weapon to bear on the training dummy once more. Another crack! fills the air, causing the older elezen coming out of the manor to wince.
"Master Ivaurault," the servant begins, taking advantage of the pause before the boy could line up another strike. "Lady Courcelle has requested that you come inside. Supper is almost ready."
The boy glances over towards the servant as he speaks, but rather than set down his lance, he shakes his head with all of the stubborn indignation that a child can muster.
"Tell Mother that I am training," he declares. "And am not hungry." This was, in fact, a lie; one easily proven by the rumble of his stomach at the thought of food.
The servant is far better trained than to exhale a sigh at the willful look in the young boy's eye, but it takes much of his self-control.
"Young Master," he begins. "I'm afraid I must insist. The Lady seemed very concerned about your well-being; she is afraid that you will catch cold if you stay out here much longer."
The boy, who had gone back to sizing up the training dummy, looks back towards the servant, an exasperated look on his face.
"Mother doesn't understand," he protests. "Father promised that I could become a squire in a year or so if I worked extra hard and stopped bothering Osmont during his lessons." The last bit is a bit mumbled.
"And I have to!" he continues, his voice rising once more with the insistence. "If I don't become a squire then I'll never become a knight and then I'll never become a dragoon. And Dauvaunt will continue to get everything." He glances down at the lance held in his hands, at the well-worn wood and gleaming (if blunt) speartip. "Everyone goes on about him because he's the heir, even though I'm already far better with a lance than he is."
The servant listens to all this with the polite expression of someone waiting for another to finish speaking so they could pass off the problem to someone more qualified to deal with it. When the boy finally seems done, he speaks up once more.
"Mayhaps you should tell that to your mother, young Master," he suggests, all while silently praying to the Fury that the boy would take the bait.
Ivaurault pauses at this, his lips pursing in thought. Then he nods once. "Mayhaps I will," he declares. "But later." And then another crack! splits the air as he rushes towards the target, the spear of his lance impaling it in a perfect strike.
Defeated, the servant does exhale a soft sigh as he retreats into the house. He had tried. The matter was now up to the headstrong boy's parents.
He wished them luck.

My may top 5 movies:
Kung Fu Panda trilogy (2008, dir: Mark Osborne, John Stevenson; 2011, dir: Jennifer Yuh Nelson; 2016, dir: Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Alessandro Carloni) [Rewatched the first two after a decade and watched the third for the first time] Listen, I don't know what happened to me or to the world that made me uninterested in these movies somewhere between the second and the third one, but I'm glad that went away because these are actually really good. Like, the animation, the aesthetic, the story: they're all great and enjoyable, and a lot of fun! -
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018, dir: Ol Parker) [Rewatch after five years] The songs are still bangers and a lot of fun, even though this is way more sad than the first one. Wacthing it with friends is even better! -
13 Going on 30 (2004, dir: Gary Winick) [Rewacth after seven years] Still a cute and fun rom-com. The time-travel and the moral consequences of a 13 year-old in her own older body are never even thought about, but that's probably for the best, because I genuinely enjoyed it as a kid, even though I didn't want to grow up. -
Sky High (2005, dir: Mike Mitchell) [Rewatch after more than a decade] Just okay, I remember liking this a lot as a teen, but never seeing it again. Loved the whole character of Warren Peace, his name and his backstory and to be honest I wish the whole thing would have been about him. But still not that bad! -
So I Married an Anti-Fan (2016, dir: Kim Je-young) [First time watch] No idea how I found this, but it was pretty fun. I haven't really written anything on my notebook about it other than "not that bad", and all the letterboxd reviews are about this k-pop idol whom I don't know, I'm so sorry.
Favourite series in may:
Spy x Family (Japan, 2022) [First time watch; anime] A spy needs to infiltrate the family of an important political figure to stop the war between the two prominent regions of his nation, but to do so, he needs to have a wife and a daughter. He finds them in a secret assassin and a mind reader respectively. This anime is so much fun!! It's hilarious and even heartwarming at times. I decided to read the manga as well because I fell in love with the characters so fast. -
Ted Lasso - season 3 (USA, 2023) [First time watch] This series has been a very nice comfort show since I started season 1 last year. I loved how everyone had a character development and I very much enjoyed the positivity and feeling of hope throughout the series and especially in the end. -
Schmigadoon! - Schmicago (USA, 2023) [First time watch] This musical series is still one of the most innovative around and I LOVE the songs and the references to the musicals it parodies. I think I might have enjoyed this second season more than the first because I like more musicals from this era than the ones referenced in season 1. I still wish they will eventually make a thrid season, because if they manage to make parodies of all musical eras, they will have my whole heart, although this had a perfect ending, so I am conflicted on this. -
Dark Blue Kiss (Thailand, 2019) [Rewatch after a year] This was the first Thai series I've ever watched, but I had overrated it, so I decided to revisit it with a better knowledge and some more place for comparison. It turns out that it's still pretty good! Pete and Kao's story and its stupid jealousy, their cute bickering, and Kao's will to come out to him mum but fear of rejection is still very well done. Their breakup phase is still so sad! New's little pouty face should be enough to make people forgive him, especially when Kao didn't do anything outwardly terrible. The communication problem in this couple is still annoying, but the last scene makes up for everything and they have my heart. I'm not the greatest fan of the second couple - when a lot of fans would say the opposite - but I still love fellow Pokémon Go fan Mork and I still think he deserves better, I'm not sorry. -
Quacks (UK, 2017) [First time watch] As usual, six-episodes-long British sitcoms that are about specific time periods were cancelled after one season, and so was this gem. This series was about several doctors working at a Victorian hospital and trying new ways to cure patients. It was very interesting other than pretty funny.

Hey panda!!
Was curious if you would ever write for Javi G? He is just a perfect soft baby and I've been wanting to read some more stories with him! Or i was curious if you had any recommendations to read!? 🩶
Hey Nonnie!
So! I've got two Javi G drabbles that I posted before you can find them here and here.
I do have an idea for a full Javi G fic eventually, but I just need to get through some of my other WIPs first! In terms of what I'd recommend to read, I haven't read a huge amount of Javi G before, but would definitely recommend Advanced Politics of Human Sexuality by @psychedelic-ink - if any followers have any other Javi G recs then please pop them in the comments for anon!

okay but you HAVE to listen to me. sorry for being a croods apologist first of all. second of all I see this movie (franchise ig I haven't rewatched the sequel since it came out) as the biggest waste of thematic potential in the dreamworks arsenal. the croods teeters right on the edge of goofy kids comedy (trolls, boss baby, etc) and a really really interesting, visually unique, and well-written addition to the dreamworks catalogue (httyd, kung fu panda, etc). it's right on the line and there are faint glimmers in all the chaos and revelry where you can see that beautiful, touching movie hidden within the exterior shell of the final product.
the story is not perfect, no. but like I said, it's RIGHT on the line and you can see that beautiful movie peeping through the cracks in the wall. I think, given the time, I would write this story as I see it. because actually it is really relevant to our current political climate and ohhhh my god I have so much to say about it. okay? okay. listen:
the story is framed around this conflict between eep and grug (what a way to start off a serious tangent, I know). but it's more representative of fearmongering and tradition- grug understands that this one way of life, a life of complete fear and avoidance, is what has worked for him. he is not willing to change or adapt to anything else because he is afraid of what he doesn't understand. I also want to say that the movie makes it clear that grug is not making up these rules; he is enforcing them, yes, but these are just things that were passed down to him from experience.
whereas eep is curious, accepting, and open to the world, grug is extremely reserved, suspicious and defensive of anything he doesn't immediately understand. again, this explicitly comes from a place of fear. he pushes tradition because he KNOWS it's what works for him, and he doesn't understand why it's not working for eep. he sees her ideas and dreams as not only frivolous and ridiculous, but outright dangerous. and while his reasoning is somewhat solid- the world is dangerous, this is inevitable- he is extremely rigid on his rules and stubborn in a way that is actively putting his family in even more danger.
the conflict is that grug sees any change he doesn't understand as dangerous. he is not open to new ideas, thoughts, or identities because he fears the unknown, and that fear manifests in anger. then he perpetuates this cycle of fear and tells his family things that are not true (though he really does believe them) because what's new or different is scary and therefore it's a threat.
but the entire movie focuses around change. it's literally the plot! the earth itself is changing, which is dangerous and is scary, but the message is so clearly that in order to survive this changing world, you have to have faith in the people around you, you have to have faith in the things you don't understand, you have to learn and even teach yourself, and you have to take that jump, or you'll be left behind.
there is SOOOO much to unpack, I've barely scratched the surface. but overall I wish so badly that these themes were explored because it really is such a good movie with an amazing heart that I NEED to see developed more. well anyway the croods is a trans allegory.
