Apologies - Once upon a time in Hollywood & plus size reader
Summary: You and Rick, like most siblings do, aren't talking because of an argument. The only thing getting you both to apologise to each other is a group of cult members trying to kill you. (Platonic, reader is Rick's step sister who he's helped raise, so no shipping.)
Trigger warning: Descriptions of fighting and injury, this fic is mainly based in the scene in the film were the Manson family try to kill Cliff, Francesca and Rick, so yeah, there's blood.
Comments and reblogs are much appreciated and help more people read my works.
Tumblr media
A/N: I like the idea of writing more fics with the sister reader, idk I think it would be sweet.
The ever constant headache for you both had started around fifteen years ago, you being around five years old whist your older step brother was in his prime staring in Hollywood films and bedding super models like it was a causal Tuesday night.
Around that time your mother had remarried Rick Dalton’s father and them both wanting to get away from it all (aka you) had dropped you off at a random film set were extras roamed around in fake blood and plastic disembodied limbs littered the ground like gravel.
Your ‘parents’ didn’t care that they had dropped you off on the day were a massacre scene was being shoot. Thinking back to that blurry memory you think they hadn’t even realised it was a high budget horror flick Rick was staring in, all they thought about at that time was ditching the hyperactive child on the rich enough son who probably could hire a baby sitter unlike they could.
Whilst Rick spent most of the day dazzling the camera crew and his female co-lead you had spent most of the day in the makeup trailer been cooed over by the hair and makeup ladies whilst stuffing your face with cheese puffs and apple juice.
At one point Cliff Booth had hobbled in, cigarette hanging from his bloody lips and his leg aching from the dangerous stunt he had just performed, his blue eyes going wide as a little curly haired child cheered as he entered the makeup trailer.
“Why is there a child in here?” he had asked whilst taking the cigarette from his lips with one hand whilst trying to rub off the fake blood dribbling from his face with the other.
The makeup ladies had to quickly wipe his face off with soaked cotton balls and wet wipes because he was just making the red mess even worse all whilst a bright eyed you began babbling to him like you knew him forever.
“I’m five!” you had happily declared as one of the women whispered the situation to Cliff.
“That you are little lady.”
So for the next hour instead of fucking off smoking half a pack and challenging cocky actors to fights Cliff Booth spent his time entertaining you. He had no clue what to do with a child but he knew at that moment he had to protect you, he’d always did with Rick and call it an itch but he had a feeling that you were going to stick around.
Now fifteen years later, you complain to Cliff as you dry brush a fake sword’s blade with a rust brown paint, pots of paints and film props surrounding you at your little prop master’s table ready to topple over.
Over the many years you’ve been in and out of your brother’s life, mostly due to your parent’s inability to look after you correctly, you’ve grown to loath the big screen and all the entitled people that come with it, instead falling in love with the small screen and indie films.
Many days you’ve spent watching Star Trek or Colombo on the telly with Rick pointing out which sets and props look to be made of Styrofoam and flimsy plastic.
Now at the age of twenty you have solid work as a prop maker for television. You love the job and you love the people.
Right at this moment you’re trying to make foam swords look real whilst Cliff tries to talk you around to apologising to your brother all because you called him an idiot for looking down on Spaghetti Westerns because they were ‘beneath him’.
“I’m not saying sorry Cliff.” You grumble as you dip your paint brush in a rusty looking solution made from many brown paints and diluting alcohol, “I didn’t spend most of my childhood stuck on his sofa watching B movies only for his failing ass to talk shit about them!”
Cliff hovers around you cluttered desk, the trailer you work in being cramped and filled to the brim with handmade props, no cigarette in sight for he has developed the habit of not smoking when you’re around (that and the trailer filled with props are so flammable that it would combust into flames at out flick of a lighter.)
“AND THEN, WHAT CLIFF!?!” your voice crescendos as you pad away any blotting paint on the prop sword, “He goes and does all those Spaghetti Westerns anyway getting the lead in that Nebraska Jim flick and what, a wife too! He’s funnelling money in the bin like it’s nothing and he still has the gall to talk shit about my line of work and what pictures I decide to create props for.”
You stand up you shin hitting leg of the table you work at making you swear up a storm.
Cliff only watches in slight amusement.
“I’ve worked on Star Trek you know, I’m friends with Leonard Nimoy, I’ve been inside DeForest Kelley house multiple times, I’ve been personally invited and gone to countless parties hosted by Grace Kelly and her husband all because I was nice to her that one time on the set of that musical film-“
“-I thought you didn’t like the Hollywood type.” Cliff asks in such brotherly way trying to get a rise out of you.
What, he might be fed up with your ongoing feud with Rick but he still sees you as his own little sister and he does find it fun teasing you.
“Yeah, well most of them I don’t but she is pretty and nice and she’s my friend- for fuck’s sake Rick is just jealous!”
“Well, that he might be squirt but I think-“ Cliff begins to guide you out the trailer away from the fumes of alcohol and oil paints, “- he might be more jealous that his little sister is being taken away by all these big wig actors.”
Hair a mess, paint covering your dungarees and magnifying glasses propped on top of your head like you some kind of mad scientist, a flow of extras on their break all in medieval garbs walking around, you turn around to Cliff with an anger on your face that melts into a profound sadness.
“He didn’t even invite me to his wedding, I haven’t even met his wife, for crying out loud Cliff I don’t want another absent father, I’ve already got plenty of those.”
Cliff was itching to get out a cigarette out of pocket but once he hears your outburst, once he sees your eyes welling up with years and your round body slump somewhat he bounds over and engulfs you in a big hug that only fathers and father figurers know how to do.
“Come home and talk with Rick. I’ll be there and you can meet Francesca.”
You look up at Cliff as you both begin swaying in the hug.
“Can Brandy come to?”
“Of course kiddo-“ he says tightening his grip on you, “-to be honest I think she likes you the best.”
You let out a loud booming laugh that says ‘Ha! I knew it.’ one that gets Cliff laughing too.
I didn’t go quite as planned.
At first when you showed up Rick tried to act like nothing had happened, he did his normal smooching. He offered you a drink and smiled that movie star smile at you all whilst not introducing you to his wife who stood in the background slightly confused at the odd ordeal.
You waved off his offer of a drink and went straight to the fridge plucking out a can of beer.
“You want one Francesca?” you had asked, she replied with a baffled ‘no’ before you plonked yourself down on the sofa making yourself right at home.
You truly wonder what Francesca Capucci thought at that very moment seeing a round young woman with a smile like Mama Cass and a the grace of Etta James all rolled up in pain stained dungarees and Dr. Martens boots.
One thing lead to another, you and Francesca became fast friends whilst Rick and Cliff went off for drinks, and now you're lounging on Rick’s sofa with Brandy’s head on your lap and Cliff offering you a LSD laced cigarette which he’s been smoking.
“Shit, things must be bad if you’re smoking near me?” you grumble as you pat Brandy’s head with a lazy hand, “Nothing was resolved so let’s get shit faced, because that always goes well.”
“At least you met Francesca.” Cliff mutters as his face turns all smiley as the drugs take effect.
“Hum, yeah, she’s real pretty ain’t she…” you ponder out loud as the front door gets kicked in.
You jump up slightly, Brandy not too bothered by the two greasy haired people clad in black who stand there trying to look menacing.
“Ahhhh, can I help you?” Cliff asks.
Another one appears all in black too, her face a pale sickly white, a knife in her hand.
And to think your day couldn’t get any worse because oh boy, it does.
One moment you’re complaining to Cliff about your idiot brother with Brandy on your lap trying to cheer you up, the next thing you know you have a gun aimed at your face by the ‘horsey’ guy and Francesca only in her underwear being forced out into the living room by the redhead.
Thank fuck Cliff is both level headed and slightly crazy at the same time because one moment he’s laughing like a clown and the next Brandy is attacking the fuckers which gives you a bit of time to move out the way of the gun.
It’s when this so called Tex starts hitting Brandy do you snap out you little panicked trace (having a gun aimed at you does that to a person) do you leap over the sofa and begin punching him square in the face, your body holding him down so he can’t kick his way out of it, Brandy still mauling his arm like it was a tug rope.
By the time Cliff has thrown the can at the face of the pale woman, knocking her straight down and breaking her little white nose, you’re fully on top of Tex trying to knock him out.
Now, you were never the best puncher, when you were fourteen you punched a bully who was teasing you about your weight only to breaking your thumb in the process, by my gosh is the adrenaline kicking in has you trying to knock out Tex.
The frightened screams of Francesca in the background spurs you on, the fear of the nice (and very attractive) woman getting hurt making you see red.
Maybe you’ll unpack your childlike crush on the starlet along with the ongoing feud with your brother later on when you’re not trying to wrestle a grown man (said grown man who’s now getting his balls bit by Brandy.)
(Brandy will defiantly get all the treats and cuddles later on.)
“CLIFF! DO SOMETHING YOU DUMB BITCH!” you scream as Tex punches at you, some hits missing but most slamming right into your soft sides.
Doing something Cliff clicks his fingers and Brandy is off mauling Samara. At the same time Tex pushes you off him and charges at Cliff like an angry bull, one eye already going black from you repeated punches.
It’s all a fucking shambles all culminating in you climbing through a smashed window to see your dear brother Rick using his fucking flamethrower to burn the pale bitch like he was finishing crème brulee with a blow torch.
How fun.
“Rick! Be careful!” you try to scream but it only comes out as a pain filled gabble, “Rick.”
Your last call of ‘Rick’ sounds more like a sob than a word, your soft body in so much pain. Your face is stained with splatters of blood and trails of big fat tears which when Rick sees he scrambles to take off his flamethrower (safely of course) to run over to you and engulf you in the biggest of hugs.
Your cries of your brother’s name as you break down and cling onto him cause the older man to start crying ugly tears, ones that are louder that your own sobs.
“I’m sorry Rick.” you sniffle out.
“I’m sorry too-“ he lays a kiss on your hair and starts rocking you side to side in the tight hug like he used to do when you were little and had a nightmare, “I’ve been ignoring you and I didn’t tell you about Francesca.”
“I’m sorry too for ignoring you as well.”
“I’m sorry for being so mean-“
For the next ten mites the two of you prattle off many apologises, too many really, so much so that when the red and blue flashing lights of emergency services clouds your blurry vision and paramedics try to pry you away from Rick you’re both still apologising.

Hello! Idk if it still doing requests but I just needed to get this idea out there: any of the ninja x magician reader where the reader just has the most riskiest performances ever and has people on the edge of their seats (idk it's just been in my head all day for some reason
Of course! I'm not very fast at writing and have a lot of oneshots at work, but I'll try to write this as best as I can. I really liked the magician idea, but mixing it with some 'dangerous' acts would have made this a bit boring. So I toned it down a bit, and took a more comedic approach to the act.
Also, I just couldn't get myself into the idea of having romance in this, because I liked it as just a platonic thingy, but I tried my best! I also chose Kai for the main focus of this thing, so I guess it kinda counts as a Kai x reader??? But mainly it's just a platonic thingy.
Kai x male! reader.
Set in very early season 1, You'll see why.
Better than magic
So here they were, all five of them. Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane, and of course Little Lloyd Garmadon himself. He was the one who thought of this idea to begin with.
Right next to Mega Monster amusement park was now a huge circus tent and countless of stands were set all around it. There was something for everyone. It went from unfair and way too expensive carnival games to booths with shadow plays and even meet-and-greets with puppeteers and their puppets.
The little boy dressed in his favorite skeleton hoodie jumped up and down and led Zane, the one who decided to actually try to watch over the boy, by the hand all around the carnival.
Meanwhile the three others wondered why their Sensei even allowed them to come here in the first place. Oh well, if they're already at a carnival, might as well take it easy.
Jay and Cole for one were having fun.
"Oh my gosh!!! It's a Fritz Donnegan meet and greet!!" "And check out all these games! Hey, Jay, wanna go throw darts?" "Later, maybe. Wait for me, I have to go shake his hand!!" "Jay, look! A cotton candy stall!!There are so many flavors! Cherry, Blueberry, Popcorn-"
"Popcorn? Is that really a good flavor?" Kai wasn't really that excited. He had wanted to take the time to train, make sure he was in good shape. In the end he was still, against his will, dragged here.
"What? If you don't like popcorn, how about the chili flavor?" Cole asked, as Kai scrunched up his face in disgust.
"No thanks."
"Cole, Kai, look at this!!" An excited yell rang out as Jay ran back to the the two ninja. He lifted his hands up and shoved a picture of Cliff Gordon's face with the words 'For Jay Walker', written in fancy cursive letters.
"I got this from him! And guess what? I actually got to shake his hand!" The blue ninja acted like a kid with a sugar high.
"Nice..." Kai didn't even try to sound excited for Jay. Jay's happy smile turned into a pout, but before he could start whining, Cole spoke up.
"Hey, look at that." Cole said as he pointed to a crowd, a small crowd, but a crowd no less, surrounding a small show stage. It wasn't really much.
Jay immediately hopped over to the stage, as Cole walked after him. Kai let out a sigh before following after them, although reluctantly.
The three actually got to the very front, because there weren't many people around the stage. Some only stayed to watch for a second, before moving onto something else.
"Hey, you three!" A sudden voice called out to them from above, and the three ninja all looked up. Even Kai's eyes widened as he saw a boy, wearing a short cape and a top hat hanging upside down on a tightrope.
"Welcome, welcome! Enjoy the show!" The boy took his hat, which surprisingly didn't fall of his head on it's own, and lifted it off his head as a greeting.
The boy didn't stop to chat, as he noticed someone else joined the crowd, and called out to them, giving another greeting to them as well.
Right after that the boy lifted his hands onto the tightrope and pulled himself up and onto his feet on top of it. Standing up, he lifted his hat, before giving a bow to the few people watching.
"It's an honor performing here today! I've always wanted to perform with a tightrope, although my main strengths are, ah... are- Ah, Achoo!" The boy started off with a speech, before sneezing mid way, 'accidentally' making a dove appear on his hand. Some adults laughed while kids stared in awe.
"Sneezing doves, apparently." The comment just added onto the laughter, before the boy covered his hand with his top hat, and upon removing it, there was no dove in sight!
The boy did many generic magic tricks while walking left and right on the tight rope, nothing special. Well, that's what Kai thought, and his displeased face showed it.
Of course ordinary person could walk a thin tightrope just like that, especially while sneezing out doves and occasionally pulling bunnies out their shoes... I really wish I was kidding.
But it seemed like the boy had noticed Kai's boredom, and he smirked. Suddenly the boy stepped past the tightrope, falling off. A few kids gasped, but the boy caught onto the tightrope with one of his hands at the last second.
Although he was still much higher than the crowd, he was a bit closer to them, and his target, Mr. frowning-at-a-magic-show.
"You, wearing red." The boy pointed to Kai with his free hand, as Kai flinched in surprise.
"Me?" He asked as the boy nodded.
"Yeah, you. Wanna play a little game?" The boy asked, this time using his free hand to dig out a single coin from his pocket.
"No thanks, I'm not really into all this magic things-" Kai wanted to refuse, but his two friends quickly caught him off.
"Whoa, really? Kai, this kinda chance doesn't some often!" "Let's play! Let's play, Kai!" Cole and Jay pressured Kai until he ultimately had to agree.
"Fine."
"Great! It's easy, just guess which hand the coin is in." The boy showed Kai the coin, twisting it around to show there was nothing attached to it.
The boy's hold on the tightrope didn't loosen for a second as he threw the coin up, and caught it with the same hand as he had thrown it. Lastly, he blew gently onto his own clenched fist, before speaking up.
"So, which hand?" The crowd was confused, he had thrown the coin up, the caught it. His other hand hadn't moved an inch. It was impossible to get this one wrong.
"Your free hand, obviously?" Kai held in a scoff, as the boy smiled, and opened his hand.
"Correct!" The crowd was even more silent. But not because the magic trick sucked, but because there was no coin in his hand.
"Uh, where's the coin?" Jay spoke up, as the boy blinked, before turning his hand towards himself, before reacting like he didn't know what was going on.
"Ah! Where did it go? Did I drop it? Did you see where it went?" The questions he showed to the little kids in the audience, who shook their heads, not having seen the boy drop anything.
"Hold, on, I'll find it." The boy quickly spoke, before changing his position to instead hang upside down again, but only by his ankles. He even removed one foot and hung with only one foot as he checked his socks and shoes.
It brought a smile on people's faces, and adults and kids both chuckled before the boy's eyes suddenly fixated on Kai.
"Oh, hey, check behind your left ear, would you?" The boy said, changing back to holding on with both feet.
"My ear?" Kai let out, confused, but still raised his left hand to his ear, when he suddenly felt something cold behind it.
Kai stopped for a second, before pulling out a coin from behind his ear. He hadn't even noticed it was there. When had it gotten there?!
"Ah, thanks!" The boy took the coin from the shocked Kai as kids laughed at the red ninja, while an applause rang out for the boy.
"That was awesome!" "Totally! Too bad Lloyd missed that!" Jay and Cole laughed together as Kai finally broke free of his state of shock, and scoffed.
"It's just a magic trick, nothing special." But the boy had heard Kai's complaint loud and clear.
"Oh? Wanna see something better?" The boy spoke, having once again stood up on the rope. But Kai just scoffed again.
"Unless you can do a handstand up there, I don't think you can do any-" Kai was cut off as the boy jumped, grabbed the tightrope, and pulled himself up into a handstand using the slight momentum it gave.
"-better." Kai finished once the boy was in a completely still handstand on the tightrope. The crowd all clapped before (y/n) suddenly swung, and did an actual flip before landing on the stage, before bowing.
"I'll be here all day, so no need to worry! But I'll have to take a ten minute break now! I hope you enjoyed!" He spoke to the large crowd, who all gave an applause once more before they scattered, leaving to do something else.
"Oh, Kai, was it?" The boy asked when the three ninja were about to leave.
"Yeah. I really underestimated you, didn't I?" Kai finally admitted, as the boy gave a small laugh and a nod.
"It's fine, Magician don't usually walk on tightropes to begin with." The boy commented on his own performance as Kai noticed Jay and Cole take off to somewhere else. Probably the weird cotton candy stall.
"But thank you for co-operation, how about I do one more, just for you?" The boy offered, and took his hat off, before offering it to Kai, the bottom facing up.
"Put your hand in." Kai was skeptical, but the boy had been nice to him all this time, although he himself had been rolling his eyes and scoffing at his tricks.
Kai put his hand in, when he felt something, and grabbed it. Pulling his hand out, he saw the thing he had grabbed was rose.
"What's thi-?" Kai couldn't get to ask anything about it though, for he heard Jay and Cole calling his name from further away. The boy smiled, pulling the hat away from Kai and stepping off of the stage.
"My name's (y/n), by the way." The boy also put his hand into the top hat, digging out a business card, and shoving it in Kai's hands.
"Also, your friends are a good audience." (y/n) said, giving Kai's shoulder a pat before the boy left to go on his break.
Kai smirked, before running to his friends with a rose and a business card in his hands.

A Soul For a Soul
a/n: i think at this point im just writing too much lol but anyways: ANGST. this is angst, that's it. that's the plot. ~angst~. so people liked my best friend reader x yelena fics so i decided to uhhh do the opposite? if thats what this is lol
warnings: as said above, this is angst. long. also terribly written lmao. gif not mine
tw: mentions of suicide and self hate.
word count: 3.3k
taglist: @coolbeans32
prompt: the world needed natasha, yelena needed her favorite sister back, and you - you knew how to make that happen. but at what cost? (reminder: hawkeye takes place a year and two months after endgame- at least that's what i heard so thats what im using)
pairing(s): yelena x sister!reader; natasha x sister!reader; kate x reader; thor x platonic!reader; guardians of the galaxy x platonic!reader
Tumblr media
You stood on the ledge, hands in your pockets as you gazed down below. So this is where she died. Where Natasha decided to sacrifice herself for the greater good. Resentment stirred in your stomach. Normally, being at this height would make your head light and vision blurry but today- today your mind was clear. You knew what you had to do. Closing your eyes, you took a step back away from the cliff, letting the memoires wash over you one last time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was like being hit by a truck when everyone but Natasha came back from the Time Heist. You couldn't move from you spot, curled up against the wall - knees to your chest, for what seemed like hours. Clint explained what had happened. How he tried to stop her but she wouldn't let him. But all you could think of was how you were alone. Both of your sisters - gone, in only the span of five years. You didn't let yourself cry in front of the Avengers. You wouldn't let them think you weaker than they already did. But that night, your body was wracked with sobs, air desperately trying to fill your lungs. She was gone. Really, truly gone. The walls felt like they were caving in, trapping you alone in your sadness. What were you going to do now?
Bruce brought everyone back. Later, you were told that Yelena's first thought after reappearing was Natasha. She never mentioned you.
The battle happened. Everything went by in a blur. Thanos was defeated, Tony sacrificed himself. Now you had lost your sister and one of your only friends. You left immediately for NYC, finding an affordable apartment, trying to get some sense of normalcy. And for a while, you found her. Kate Bishop. One day, while you were sitting in a cafe, she walked in - wearing a sweatshirt covered in what looked like ash. The lady behind the register laughed.
"Kate Bishop, did you burn your breakfast again?" Kate nodded her head sheepishly before sitting in the booth you were in, obviously exhausted. She banged her head on the table before looking up and practically jumping out of her skin when she saw you. You waved awkwardly. Kate smiled nervously.
"Uh...hi? OH! I'm so sorry, I'll move-" You shook your head, for some reason, you didn't want her to leave.
"No! Uh, I mean, no it's- it's fine." You smiled softly at Kate, who grinned back at you, "I'm [name]. You're Kate Bishop?" She laughed and nodded.
"I'm kind of a regular here. Everytime I convince myself, 'maybe the cereal won't catch fire this time' and try to make my own breakfast, my smoke alarm is going off and I end up here. I'm not complaining though- their pancakes are kick ass." After that, you and Kate formed a quick friendship, which quickly led to more. You had been dating for a year before you heard the rumors. A Black Widow had been hired to kill Hawkeye. And she was coming to New York. Using every means necessary, you tried to get Yelena to notice you. To get her to visit. But she never came. Eventually, you stopped, not wanting your sister to control your new life. But when Kate met Clint Barton, started working with him, your life shattered. Kate told you of Natasha's sister, Yelena, who had broken into Kate's apartment. They had mac n' cheese together. Yelena warned Kate to stay out of her way. She threatened your girlfriend.
In the end, you made it to the party, desperately looking through the crowds of people evacuating for Kate and or your sister. What you found broke your heart. Yelena beating the crap out of Clint, calling him pathetic, until he did the whistle. The sound that acted as a barrier between you and your two sisters. You heard Yelena sob before proclaiming how much she loved Natasha and how she was all Yelena had. All at once, every thought of you not being enough resurfaced. You weren't the one Yelena wanted. It was Natasha. Natasha would always be Yelena's favorite sister, while you stood on the sidelines doing anything to get your big sister's attentions. A thought sparked through your mind, a phrase Clint had said. A soul for a soul. Turning around before your sister or Clint could see you, you pulled out your transponder, sending a message to Thor, who had been hanging with the self proclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy for the past year. They had all regularly checked up on you, constantly offering you a place on the team. But after meeting Kate, you rejected the offer each time.
"[Name]!" You heard your girlfriend's voice echo through the streets, her footsteps running up to you, "I was so worried about you! You weren't returning my calls and everything was going to shit and I didn't know if you were okay-" You cut her off with a tight hug before bringing her head down for a kiss. Slow and deep, you savored the taste of your girlfriend. You knew it would be one of the last times you would ever kiss.
"I love you." You murmured, Kate's face blushing before she pecked your cheek and tightened the hug. You pulled away, taking a deep breath.
"I- I have to go on a trip for a while." You forced out, watching as Kate's face twisted into an expression of confusion.
"Wha-why? Now?" Her voice held an edge of panic to it so you cupped her face with your palms, looking into her eyes.
"Kate, I-" you sighed, before telling Kate everything. Well, not everything. Just that you were the forgotten sibling of Natasha and Yelena, that you had no idea that any of this would happen, and that you needed to see the spot your sister died. For closure. Surprisingly, Kate wasn't angry. She understood why you hadn't told her. Which made your heart hurt worse.
In the evening, you heard the sounds of a space ship hovering above your apartment building. You grabbed your bag, packed so Kate wouldn't worry, and turned to go to the roof. Arms wrapped around your waist and you felt a kiss on the neck.
"Come back safe okay?" You turned towards your girlfriend, who had a look on her face you couldn't describe.
"Don't worry, I'll be back for Christmas at Clint's farm." That seemed to satisfy Kate, who let you go. You pecked her lips one last time before turning and walking out the door. Thor was waiting for you when you walked out, the giant of a man scooping you into a giant hug.
"It is so good to see you again [Name]! How are you?" You lied, saying you were fine, and boarded. In a flash of light, you were approaching Vormir.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's how you ended up here. Standing on the very spot where Natasha leaped off the edge - all for a glowing orange stone. You had decided it was time when a voice sounded from behind you.
"In all my years, I've never seen anyone jump without asking for the stone," The Red Skull floated beside you, his cloak flaring around in the wind, "But you do request something in return." You set your shoulders back, chin up.
"A soul for a soul? Isn't that the deal you have here? I'll give you mine if you bring her back." The Red Skull nodded, understanding what you were asking.
"Natalia Romanova. The one who sacrificed herself in love for Clint Barton. You wish to bring her back. You must know child, I do not make the rules. If the One Who Sees All approves, they will take your offer. If not, then you will have left everyone who you love and who loves you, alone." You hung your head, shrugging.
"I wouldn't be missed that much anyways."
"You can't possibly believe that." Rocket's voice startled you, making you turn around. The Guardians all stood behind you, their faces ones of shock and sadness. Thor stepped forward.
"[Name], I understand it's been hard-"
"No you don't!" You yelled, every emotion bubbling to the surface, causing tears to fill your eyes, "You don't know what it's like to always be the third choice. Not even the second! I was never seen growing up, it was always 'Natasha this' or 'Yelena that'! In the Red Room, Natasha was the prodigy who escaped, Yelena was the greatest assassin after our sister and me? Me?! I'm the one Dreykov had killed, the only reason I survived wasn't because of my skill but because the Widow assigned to me hesitated. I survived because of a fault in the programming. None of them looked for me! They knew I was alive and they. didn't. look. for. me! Natasha, figured out I was alive when she walked into SHIELD for the first time and saw me there. I was at SHIELD first but she," You sobbed, "She was everyone's favorite. Fury's favorite, Coulson's favorite, Hill's favorite. She was the first choice for the Avengers Initiative. She didn't even talk to me unless she had to! We only grew close after Thanos beCAUSE I WAS THE ONLY ONE THERE! I WAS THERE FOR HER AND SHE STILL JUMPED. SHE TOLD CLINT HE HAD A FAMILY BUT WHAT ABOUT ME? DID I NOT MATTER? I WASN'T ENOUGH, I WON'T BE ENOUGH UNTIL I BRING HER BACK. Yelena didn't even care about me when she came back. Her only thought was Natasha, she never thought to think how I was doing - her younger sister who had lost both of her older sisters. She didn't visit me. I had thought we had grew close after the fall of the Red Room but apparently not. Guys, I'm-I'm tired. I'm tired of my family casting me away. The world needs Natasha, Yelena needs Natasha. She doesn't want me - she never has. I won't be anyone's third choice anymore." When you finished your rant, tears were streaming down your face, and everyone - including the Red Skull- looked shocked. Rocket took a step forward.
"What about Kate? Are you her third choice? How will this affect her?" You swallowed back a sob at Rocket's question, shaking your head and looking away.
"Kate- Kate is strong...She'll get over me quickly and find someone better." Peter scoffed.
"Okay fine, you want your family to stop casting you away? Let us become your new family. [Name], you wouldn't be our third choice - ever. And Kate? She could never find anyone as amazing as you are. So come with us okay?" He held out a hand, "Kate can come with us - I'm sure she'll love to see space." You chuckled, imagining Kate's face pressed against the windows of the Milano, watching in amazement as stars blurred by. You nodded, stepping towards Peter, taking his hand. The entire group seemed to let out a breath. You let yourself walk with them for a few feet, with each step you could practically feel the stress leaving their bodies.
You almost changed your mind.
But then the flashes happened. The flashes of Yelena's disappointed face when you came back, after the Guardians eventually tell her what you were going to do. You imagined her asking you why? Why didn't you do it. So, you took a deep breath and looked around you, at the people, the only ones, who would probably miss you. Warmth blossomed in your chest, thankful for these last moments with the ones who cared. But all good things must end.
Just as you were about to cross the threshold of Vormir's entry, you pushed Thor's hand away from yours, twisting his arm back with all your strength. The God of Thunder let out a surprised grunt, the Guardians taking a step back as the tall man tumbled forward. You took a step back before turning around and running full speed towards the edge.
It was like time stopped turning. You could hear the Guardians behind you, each one rushing to grab you. You heard Quill power on his rockets, propelling him forward. You slid to the ground, quickly spinning around and using Peter's body, you kicked him back while flipping off the edge. You let your body relax, feeling the wind rushing behind your back, curling around you like one last hug. You saw Nebula reaching her arm off the cliff, a failed attempt to grab you. Rocket sat on the edge, his eyes full of regret as he watched you fall to your death. There was nothing you could do. You were already dead.
Before you hit the ground, you swore you saw Natasha beside you. You could feel her shaking your body - screaming no over and over. But you blinked and she was gone. The last thing you saw was the brightest light you've ever seen rising into the sky, exploding into a multitude of colors - illuminating the horizon with your soul.
Then...nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kate stood outside Clint's farm, watching the sky for any trace of your return. She had been at the Barton family residence for hours, patiently - okay fine - anxiously awaiting your return.
"Kate Bishop, staring at the sky isn't going to make her arrive any faster." Yelena's voice startled Kate.
"Oh come on, you can't blame me for being excited! It's Christmas! Plus, she's your sister Yelena. You should be waiting with me! Aren't you one bit excited to see her again?" Yelena acted indifferent for a moment before smiling.
"I am, Kate Bishop, it has been a while since I've seen my little sister. But I will wait where there is food and warmth." Kate laughed before nodding.
"Okay, okay. I'll come inside." Looking one last time into the sky, Kate walked into the house, where Clint, Laura, and their kids sat at the table, laughing at a story Clint was telling. Kate and Yelena sat down, leaving a seat in between them. Conversation flowed easily but each second felt like an hour to Kate, who's leg wouldn't stop bouncing from excitement. Suddenly, a large gust of wind burst into the room, rattling dishes and creaking the home's foundations. There was a bright burst of light and a figure stepped out. The room went quiet. Yelena felt tears and joy building up in her chest.
"Nat-Natasha?" The Black Widow looked confused but welcomed her sister as the blonde barreled into her, grasping her tightly into a hug.
"A miracle." Clint whispered in awe. The next few minutes were full of joy stained tears and lengthy but quick explanations. Kate stood apart from the group, waiting for her widow to show up. Soon, the group heard the Milano land next to the house. Kate sprinted out, Yelena and Natasha right behind her. Nat was the only one who felt dread building inside of her when you didn't walk off the ship. Kate looked behind the Guardians, oblivious to their somber and angry expressions.
"Where's [name]? Is she using the bathroom or something?" At the Guardians silence, Kate laughed nervously, no humor in her tone.
"Come-come on guys where is she? This isn't funny." Kate's voice was full of panic, her chest felt tight and her breaths labored. Clint placed his hand on Kate's shoulder, worry filling face. Yelena stepped towards the Guardians, annoyance flaring in her eyes.
"Where is our sister?" She asked, her voice hard as Natasha placed a hand on her arm.
"Yel-"
"Oh, so now you care about her!" Rockets incredulous exclamation shocked the two Widows. No Guardian made a move to stop Rocket's rant.
"What about when Dreykov tried to kill her? Did you care about her then? Or when everyone was dusted? Did you even try to be there for her? Or when Natasha died!" Yelena's eyes grew wide and she started to shake her head rapidly, fearful of what Rocket was about to say, "You were never there for her! You weren't her family!"
"How dare you-" Yelena started but Natasha brought her hand up to silence the angry blonde.
"Rocket." Her voice was chilly, like she was encasing all her emotions in ice and packing them far inside her mind - protecting her from what she was about to hear, "Where. Is. [Name]." Rocket let out a sob, his normally tough exterior cracking, showing his vulnerable heart to the world.
"Where do you think?" Came Nebula's rough voice, her fists clenched and body stiff as Gamora held her sister back from pouncing, "We went to Vormir. She- she said she wanted to see where you died." Kate was rapidly shaking her head, shoving her hands in her coat pocket. It's just a bad dream, you'll wake up any second now. She kept telling herself. Tears were building up in her eyes, flowing over and streaming down her face. Yelena was practically rocking back and forth on her heels, arms wrapped around herself as if to protect her. Gamora stepped forward, in front of Nebula, her eyes hard yet also full of pity.
"Vormir requires a soul sacrifice for the Soul Stone but-" She swallowed, shaking her head and making direct eye contact with Natasha, "for every person sacrificed, their soul can be retrieved, by another giving up their life- permanently. That's what [name] did for you Natasha. She thought," Gamora's voice broke, her own cool exterior falling apart, "She thought this would make everyone happier. You were always the favorite, she said. She thought she didn't matter enough to anyone, that she wasn't worth anything except bringing you back. Why would you push her to this?" Towards the end, Gamora had started to yell. Her voice broke on every word, like her heart was projecting it's sadness. At the silence of Natasha and Yelena, Gamora yelled.
"Don't you understand? She's gone! [Name] is dead and it's all your fault! Your sister is dead!" Gamora leaned her head on Peter's shoulder, "She's dead."
Kate fell to the ground, her body shaking from the sobs wracking her form. With trembling hands, she reached inside her pocket, pulling out a small velvet box.
"Kid..." Clint tried to place a comforting hand on Kate's shoulder but she slapped it away. She glared at the two Widows before standing up and walking away. Yelena stared at the ground, her mouth trembling as sobs threatened to break out. Natasha clawed at her chest, angry at the universe, angry at herself, angry at her soul. She moved her hands up to her head as memories flashed by. Your first birthday, your first mission, the day you saw her at SHIELD - eyes full of hope that was crushed when she walked away indifferent. Collapsing to the ground, Natasha clasped the area where her heart was and raising her head to the sky, released a scream so loud, it shook both Heaven and Hell, making even the most powerful beings look away in sorrow. Yelena just whispered, "My fault, my fault, not again, I can't do this again," over and over.
As Kate walked to her car, she heard Natasha's scream. Shaking her head, she collapsed in the drivers seat, sobbing into her hands. A light gust of wind blew through the vehicle. I'm sorry, my love. Through her tears, Kate opened the box, revealing a sparkling silver ring, simple yet elegant. As the light breeze circled around her, Kate felt as if you were sitting next to her. She swallowed.
"I had a whole speech planned, [name], a whole plan," she laughed through her tears, "I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, why- why would you?" She broke down into tears, not able to finish her sentence. I would've said yes, a voice whispered in her ear, sounding like yours. Thinking her grieving mind was playing a trick on her, Kate wiped away her tears and put her seatbelt on. But when she looked out the window, she saw a figure in the horizon - glowing the colors of a sunset. You raised your hand and waved one last time before dissolving into light, once again painting the horizon with your soul.

Love at First Sight
Pairings: James Hetfield x Female Reader, Kirk Hammett x Female!Platonic reader
Summary: Y/N gets introduced to James by her best friend Kirk while at a bar.
Theme: Fluff
Requested: Nope!
A/N~ Happy belated birthday, Cliff! We all miss and love you 💜
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Just a normal night a bar, I felt the need to go out and have fun with my life. I ordered a glass vodka and  sat at the bar watching the bartender do her job until I see someone sat next to me.
I turn to see a somewhat familiar face, “Kirk?”
The man turned to face me, “Y/N!”
He hugs me as I hug the guitarist back. Out of my right eye, I see a man with long blonde hair looking at the two of us. Who is he?! I thought. He’s kind of hot. Probably has a girlfriend.
Simply ignoring my thoughts, I turned back to Kirk.
“How’s it going, N/N?” He asked me as he took a sip of vodka.
“I’m doing good. How about you, Kirky?”
“I’m doing wonderful, N/N.” He replied, slurring his words. This man is definitely drunk.
“Oooh! I want you to meet someone.”
Grabbing my hand, he took me to where the same hot mother fucker man with long blonde hair, a misfits tank, and ripped jeans, that was looking at us earlier, sat.
Why does this man looked familiar??
The man put down his beer and raised a brow, “Kirk, who’s this?” Questioned his friend, he pointed his pointer finger at me.
“Y/N. Y/N, this is my band mate James.”
He was friends with the James Hetfield???
“Hi, Y/N.” He smiled a bit and took another sip of his beer.
“Hi, James.” I smiled.
“Well, I have to go find some chicks. So adios.” Kirk announced, making me get out of the booth.
He scooted out of the booth and went to find some girls. I sat back down and took a sip of my vodka.
“Shouldn't you be finding some girls as well, Hetfield?” I questioned him.
He chuckled, shaking his head and reaching for his beer, “Not today.”
I raised an eyebrow, “Why?”
He put down his beer and leaned towards me, “I already found one.”
He smiled and I swear to fucking god my cheeks rose. His smile was literally was to die for.
“James! I saw some chick focking a random guy in the boys bathroom!”

I know that you're hurtin', I know you still care
I know his voicemails sound like a lullaby
I feel that you're hurtin', I know it's not fair
I know his words still ring like bells in the back of your head
The woman rushes out of her car, heading straight towards the front door of the house of her best friend. She bangs on the door, her breathing pace increases as she stands there waiting for him. Her impatience makes her bang more on the door.
“Ashton Fletcher Irwin, open this damn door!” She screams at the door. There she sees the woman on the other side stand.
“I’ll go get him,” is all Kaykay had to say before she ran over to where Ashton was hiding. (Y/N) walks into the home, closing the door behind her. The emotions start to flood her senses when she sees Ashton round the corner. His eyes land on her, seeing the tears well up in her eyes. She runs over to him, holding onto him tight. Ashton holds onto her, rubbing her back as she lets go. Breaking down in his arms, he couldn’t help but wonder what happened for her to be here. Ashton suddenly pulls away a bit, gesturing his head towards the couch nearby. She sniffles, doing her best to hold her tears in. They get on the couch, her right back into his safe arms. He always knew how to make her feel safe again.
“What’s wrong, bear,” he uses the nickname for her. She looks up at him before pulling her phone out. She goes to voicemail, staring at the recent contact to leave her the voicemail. She plays the voicemail to Ashton, closing her eyes as she realizes this is one of the few things she has left of him.
“Hey, honey! I know you never pick your phone up but I decided to call to talk to you about dinner tomorrow night. If you could, just call me whenever you’re free. I wanna make your mom’s birthday great this year.” The voicemail ends, leaving the room silent. (Y/N) leans her head onto his chest again. Throwing her phone on the empty space on the couch.
“Ash… he got into a… a horrible… a horrible accident… the doctors said… they said they did the best they could.” Ashton’s heart drops, holding her closer to him. He closes his eyes, finally getting the clue in on what she meant. Tears fall down from her eyes again, they slowly grow red as she feels more alone than ever before. He continues holding onto her, not planning on letting go. Around two hours later, she sits in his arms with red eyes and puffy cheeks. Sniffles were the only noise in the air.
“I think we should go for a drive… like old times?” Ashton suggested to her. She looks up at her best friend, a small smile appearing on her face.
“I’d like that.”
We could take a drive downtown to the Pacific Coast
We could work it all out, tell me where it hurts most
We could tie another knot between us in some hope
We could, we could, we could, we could
The two sit in the car as Ashton drives. (Y/N)’s emotions were everywhere, she shouldn’t be the one behind the wheel right now. He looks at her, checking up on the silent woman in his car. She lets the small huff out, seeing the usual sightings. It was the middle of the day and she hadn't eaten anything since yesterday’s lunch. She was too busy stressing over him in the hospital. The windows were rolled down on that sunny day… the day didn’t feel too sunny to her. She just wants it to end already. Everything to end.
“Do you want to tell me… where it hurts?” Ashton asks her, breaking the frozen air on the warm day. She looks at him, seeing the look of concern written on his face as he continues to drive the car. She looks away from him, tearing filling her eyes again.
“I have… a raging headache,” she confesses the pain in her head from all the crying she’s done. He nods his head, pointing at the glovebox. She opens it to see the small bottle filled with ibuprofen. She gets the three pills, looking at the water bottle he had brought with him.
“You can drink out of it,” he says to her simply, already knowing the question she was going to ask. She nods her head, grabbing the bottle. She gets a mouthful of water before putting the pills in her mouth. With a quick swallow, the pills and water in her mouth was gone and down her throat. She puts the water bottle back, going to look out the window.
“My heart hurts too. You know, I’ve never experienced this before. I thought I would be alright and have come to terms with him gone. He wasn’t the best towards me like he probably should have been. But now that he’s actually gone… I don’t know what to do really.” Ashton nods his head towards her. He’s heard all the stories about him from her. He wasn’t the best of a role model for her like he was towards her siblings/cousins. She stares outside the window, tears going back to her eyes.
“I thought I would be a bit happy with him gone but I’m not. I wasn’t done with him.” (Y/N) sits there as she watches the buildings and signs past by. Some cars here and there but Ashton isn’t the best driver in California. She looks at him as he drives, seeing him bite the insides of his cheeks from the fact he wished he could help her with anything she wanted.
Ashton finally gets the car at the destination, a cliff that the two found one night driving around. Back then, they were younger and a bit more carefree. It was the first time they came up with the idea of driving around to explain their emotions to one another. The small road trips managed to make them feel better. But never have they gone on a drive for a death. Ashton isn’t too sure if she will bounce back right after the drive like usual. Sitting in the back on top of the small car’s trunk, the woman stares at the beautiful view. The cliff stares right towards the water of the Pacific coast. Even from high up, she could still hear the crashing of the waves. Wind blowing on her body makes her feel more alone. But he was there, holding her hand, watching her take the scene in as usual.
“Just drive,” is all she says before hopping off the trunk. She lets go of Ashton’s hand, heading back to her seat inside the car. Ashton stares at her inside the car, watching her slowly break down again. Her face in her hands as her body shudders. He looks away, back at the ocean. The scene did nothing for her. She never suddenly wants to leave after just arriving at their spot. He looks back at her in the car, realizing she truly is broken without him.
We could take a drive downtown to the Pacific Coast
We could work it all out, tell me wherе it hurts most
We could tie another knot bеtween us in some hope
We could, we could, we could, we could
Ashton drives the car in the forest, stopping for gas fifteen minutes ago. They have never driven this far away from home. He knows he’ll have to call Kaykay whenever they stop for dinner soon. She’s always been understanding of the friendship and how much these drives seem to help one another in the end.
“The suns going down… we should stop somewhere for dinner soon,” Ashton tells her. (Y/N) nods her head, staring out the window. She blinks a bit, her eyes no longer red but pink. A sniffle in response makes Ashton know she’s still alive at least.
“Have you eaten anything today?” He looks at her, seeing her shake her head. He lets the small sigh out, understanding what she meant a bit.
“I’ve been so stressed out since the accident,” she confesses to him. He continues driving as the windows start to get rolled up. He soon notices the small town, driving straight towards it. Looking around, he finds a small diner and parks the car outside of the building. He looks at (Y/N), she reluctantly takes her seatbelt off. Getting out of the car, Ashton follows along with her. He locks the car as she heads towards the diner’s front door. Walking inside with Ashton after her, they head over to the first booth her eyes land on. A woman walks over to them, her eyes land on (Y/N).
“Oh honey… it’s going to get better,” the woman says towards her. She just nods her head, not feeling the need to say anything.
“Do you have cheeseburgers?” Ashton asks the waitress. She nods her head, he looks at Ashton. He knows he should just order something for (Y/N). He orders her go-to order at restaurants she isn’t too familiar with, getting the drink she likes. He orders himself his own food before the waitress leaves the table. He pulls his phone out, seeing the worried texts from Kaykay.
“Bear, I have to go call Kay real quick, I’ll be back real quick.” She nods her head towards him, letting Ashton leave the booth. He walks outside, glancing at (Y/N) every other second to make sure she seems okay. He puts his phone to his ear, soon hearing Kaykay’s worried voice.
“Is everything fine? You guys would typically be back by now.” Ashton nods his head, closing his eyes.
“Her father passed away… I think our drive for today may go on for days.” He hears his girlfriend take a deep breath on the other side.
“I understand, tell her my condolences and text me updates. I worry about her more than you to tell you the truth.” Ashton laughs a bit, hearing his girlfriend so worried for his best friend. He looks at the booth, seeing (Y/N)’s hands covering face.
“I have to go, love you.”
“Love you too, now go help her.” Ashton hangs up the phone call, getting inside the diner again. He sits on (Y/N)’s side of the booth, pulling her in for the hug. She breaks down more in his arms again. He rests his chin on the top of her head, sighing as he rubs the circles on her back. The waitress comes back with their drinks and food. She soon leaves the check behind, he sees that the waitress seemed to have been nice and wrote that the meals were on the house. He knows better to leave a tip for the waitress on being so kind.
“Bear, it’s time to eat,” he softly spoke as he pulled her away from him. He helps her wipe her tears away, her nodding her head towards him. She starts with her drink first before staring at her food.
“At least try to eat… for me,” he pleas her. (Y/N) lets the small sigh out before nodding her head. She starts to eat the food he ordered her. He knows her too well. Ashton starts to eat before the small memory goes through his head.
“Do you know why I call you bear?” He looks at her, seeing her shake her head.
“Bears are one of the toughest animals I know yet they can be the most caring animals ever. They fight for family and do everything they can to protect them. They’re resourceful and do they love their sleep just like you. You’re my bear, (Y/N).” She looked at him, raising an eyebrow but finally for the first time that day, he saw a small smile on her face.
“Really?”
“That and just because of those baby pictures of you dressed as a bear for Halloween,” he was quick to tease her. She hits him playfully with her elbow. He sees her continue eating. Ashton smiles seeing her at least a bit happy on a horrible day.
Just drive, just drive, just drive tonight
Just drive, just drive, just drive tonight
Sitting in the car as Ashton drives to the closest motel nearby according to the waitress. He left the woman with a thirty dollar tip. He felt bad for her not letting them pay for their meal. He stops the car outside of the entrance to go get a room. He looks at (Y/N), seeing her asleep in the car. He smiles a bit, happy to at least see her seem to be at ease for once today. He heads inside the motel before coming out with a key to a two bedded room. He drives the car down to where the room should be, parking in front of it. He gets out of the car before getting (Y/N) out. He helped her out, hearing her groan at the fact she had to wake up a bit. Her eyes were still closed as he held his arm around her waist. Getting her inside the bedroom, he gets her to lay on the closest bed. He locks the door behind him before looking at her trying to get under the warm covers. He smiles at her, shaking his head at the sight. He walks over to the other bed, sitting down as he kicks his shoes off. He realized he didn’t see her do that with her own. He stands up, rounding the bed to see her shoes on the floor. He nods his head, realizing he doesn’t need to be so worried for her.
The following morning, after breakfast, they were back in the car heading home. (Y/N) continues staring at the world in the silence with Ashton. He has the music in the background this time, believing she’s at least a bit better after yesterday.
I'm here for you when the world is falling down
I'll be with you when the world is falling down
Down, down, down
(Y/N) notices the happy things in life, wishing she could feel what they were experiencing since she seemed to be unable to at the moment. Closing her eyes, she takes a deep breath in before the idea goes through her head.
“The beach.”
“What?”
“Take me to the beach.” Ashton looks at her, seeing her stare right at him with those (e/c) eyes. He nods his head before looking away from her. He continues driving the car, noticing the closest beach is about fifteen minutes away from them. Once arriving at the beach, he lets her go before checking his phone. There he sees the text messages from his other best friend being worried. Calum was panicking that (Y/N) hasn’t been answering any of his texts recently apparently. Ashton picks his phone up after he hits the call button. He watches the girl walk towards the sand, kicking her shoes off and taking the socks off before stepping on the white powder. He hears the phone ring two times before Calum finally picks it up.
“Ash, what’s happening?” Ashton takes a deep breath in, he continues watching (Y/N) walk towards the ocean after she puts her shoes and socks down on the small wall.
“Has Kaykay talked to you?”
“Nothing. I’m really worried, Ash. She leaves me on read and I know something’s up.”
“Someone in her family passed,” is all Ashton could bring himself to say. Calum went silent on the other side.
“Oh god, I’m an asshole.” Ashton’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion on what Calum meant by that.
“Cal, she hasn’t told anyone really. I know the feelings you have for her so it makes sense for you to worry. Don’t worry and just give her time to… grieve.” Ashton soon realizes (Y/N) was heading straight towards the water. He couldn’t help but look at the flags, seeing the yellow flag. Worry went through him as he watched her enter the water.
“Cal, I have to go. I’ll text you later!” Ashton quickly hangs up the phone before he gets out of the car. He makes his way to her shoes, staring at them before looking up to see his best friend in the water. He shot off towards her, not caring about his clothes and shoes with the sand or the thought of them getting wet. He noticed his friend wasn’t trying to swim or anything. He gets to her the moment the water reaches her neck. He instantly wrapped his arms around her waist.
“Let me go!” She screams as she instantly thrashes in her best friend’s arms. He starts to head back to the shore as best as he could. The current was strong and he was surprised he managed to get to her so quick.
“I need to talk to him! Tell him I loved him and not hate him!” She screams at Ashton to let her go. Finally getting close to land, he pulls her into the hug as the waves hit their legs.
“(Y/N) don’t, he knows, trust me. Please don’t.” The woman breaks into his arms once more, tears streaming down her cold face. Ashton could feel his heart beating out of his chest as the tears started to go down his own face. He pulls away and puts his hands on the cheeks of her face.
“Don’t ever do that again. I know you two didn’t get along and that you want to change that but trust me, he knows you love him. As much as you didn’t show it, he knew you looked up to him. That is enough for him. Please, please, don’t leave early just for someone who knows that you love them,” Ashton begs of her as the realization sinks into what she just almost had done. She looks at the ocean before looking at Ashton.
“I don’t know what’s happening anymore, Ash,” she whimpers to him before he brings her back into another hug.
“Don’t worry, bear, everything will be okay again.”
The violent voice is loud and deafening
Red lights, they burn us out like kerosene
The future's not so clear, I'll help you see
There's so much more to life than you and me
Standing outside as the priest continues on with his sermon. (Y/N) stares at the wooden casket, not knowing what to feel in that moment. She looks to her right, seeing her mother cry into her tissue as her cousin holds the box full of tissues for her mother. (Y/N) looks down at the black outfit she wears, feeling confused about the color she once wore as a way to express herself often. She looks back at the casket before looking to her left to see her best friend standing there. He stood besides her in the time she needed him the most. She looks down at his hand, grabbing onto it. She looks back up at Ashton, seeing him snap his head towards her direction. Tears forming in her eyes, doing her best to blink them away. He looks at the casket before looking at her. She nods her head, knowing he wanted to make sure if she was alright.
The funeral comes to an end and everyone goes their separate ways for the day. (Y/N) still holds onto Ashton’s hand in an almost death grip, never wanting to let go it seemed. They get over to his car, she stares at the headstone that she can see others still gather around. She stares before looking at Ashton.
“Take me home please.” He nods his head before helping her get in the car. He gets into the driver’s seat and turns the car on. His right hand is instantly taken by hers, she stares outside the window. He looks at her before looking away. He pulls out of the parking spot and heads straight towards her apartment. Ashton typically has been staying there for the past week to help her. Calum has come by to check up on her. (Y/N), of course, confessed what the situation was and apologized for seemingly ignoring him. Calum handled it well and told her it was perfectly fine, reminding her that he is always there for her.
Arriving at the apartment, he helps (Y/N) out of the car and into the home of her’s. She headed straight to the bedroom while he went to the guest bedroom he has been spending the night in. Kaykay would occasionally come by to check up on the two and mostly give love to (Y/N). Ashton starts to unloosen the tie, staring at himself in the full body mirror. He soon stops, looking at himself. The lyrics suddenly went through his mind. He has to do something about them. He rushes over to the notebook he kept nearby to scribble the lyrics down. The knock on the door pulls him away from his mind process, instantly closing the book when he looks up to see (Y/N) entering.
“I ordered Chinese if that’s fine.” Ashton nods his head, placing the book to the side. He sees she changed into sweats and one of Luke’s old hoodies. It warmed Ashton’s heart sometimes with how close the guys managed to get with (Y/N) but not as close as Ashton is with her. The moment she became his best friend, she became their close friend as well.
“Writing anything?” She asks as she sits down next to him. He looks at the notebook, a small smile appearing on his face. He nods his head towards her, knowing she will like the song.
Just drive, just drive, just drive tonight
Just drive, just drive, just drive tonight
Just drive, just drive, just drive tonight
Just drive, just drive, just drive tonight, tonight, tonight
Ashton paces the room, knowing she has to be the first one to hear the song he wrote just for her. He wouldn’t say it’s just for her since it could apply to KayKay as well but he got the idea while with (Y/N). Sitting on the couch at her apartment, he could remember the last time he wrote a song secretly about her. She doesn’t even know it’s about her yet. He has never been ready for that conversation just yet. His best friend doesn’t need to know his feelings he once had held for her.
“What was the surprise?” (Y/N) asks as she brings the drink of lemonade for Ashton. He looks up at her, seeing the small smile on her face. She looked so much better than what she would have been if he had made the song earlier. Of course, it took him awhile to write and produce the song but in the end he believes it’s worth it for her. He looks at his phone before looking back up at her to see her sitting down next to him.
“I want you to hear some of the music I’m working on.” (Y/N) smiles, nodding her head since she knew Ashton had been working recently on an album due to the pandemic that was happening. He looks down at his phone, hesitantly starting the song for her to listen to. He instantly pauses it after he starts it.
“I want to say before it starts, really that… I wrote this for you about your father.” (Y/N)’s smile disappears as she realizes what he is talking about. She looks away from him, nervousness growing through her as the song starts to play. She hears Ashton’s voice start to sing softly to her. She looks up from her hands, staring at the wall in front of her on the couch. Tears fill her eyes, a small memory of him taking care of her during her process of handling grief. He made sure she ate. He made sure she got her sleep. Whenever she would have a nightmare, he would cuddle her back to sleep. If she called him, he would answer. But most of all… he saved her that day she wanted to see her father again. Looking at Ashton, the song comes to an end. She instantly wrapped her arms around him, holding him close to her.
“You don’t understand how much this means to me,” she whispers to him. He couldn’t help but smiles as he held onto her in the hug. He nods his head, closing his eyes as he gets comfortable holding onto her. His chin rests on her shoulder, feeling her hair on his cheek. The two soon pull away. She wipes her tears away.
“Thank you so much, Ash.”
“Anything for my little bear.” She couldn’t help but smile more at the nickname. She nods her head before she looks away. Fiddling with her hand she looks back up at him.
“I’m really excited for your album.” Ashton soon goes on about how much he couldn’t wait for the fans to get the new content. He just felt bored during quarantine really to where he had to do it. Besides he grew lyrically and musically by doing this album. (Y/N) listened to all of his words. The conversation soon developed into different topics. (Y/N) mentions how she misses hanging out with the boys. Ashton agreed with her but he talks about the interviews over Zoom they still do together. She sighs before the excitement goes through her suddenly.
“Oh, Calum asked me out on a date whenever we can finally go somewhere!” Suddenly everything hit Ashton, hearing those words from his best friend’s lips. He could feel the color in his face leave and his heart seemed to have stopped. The world went frozen.

Catch your breath part 2
Pairings: Jensen x reader, Jared x Plantonic!Reader, Misha x Platonic!Reader
Warnings: Fluff
 You just started your new job as an actress on “Supernatural”, playing a love-interest to Dean, and you get a little… Tingly, when you think about Jensen. So does Jensen when he thinks about you.
Missing something?
Part 1
Tumblr media
I LOVE Daneel and Jensen and their beautiful marriage, but for the sake of this fic, Jensen is single – I don’t mean any harm to their family or their love!
  You were currently working on downing your third beer – you weren’t exactly a lightweight, but your head was buzzing a little, making you a little more brazen than normally. Jared and Jensen laughed hard, drying the tears from laughter, and looked at you. “Are you serious? Jesus, I thought you had taste!” Jared giggled – a weird sound, coming from such a huge man – and snorted. “What!? I needed a job, and I thought it would be fun… I didn’t expect it to… You know, have actual gremlins in it.” You huffed. You had spent most of the evening recounting your previous work, and they boys had gone into hysterics, when you told them about the horror-movie you had starred in. “No, seriously, that’s amazing. I’m going to find a copy of that.” Jensen laughed. “Yeah, yeah, keep laughing, soap-opera-boy.” You said disgruntled. Truthfully, you loved the teasing. You felt so welcome, like they adopted you into the family, and you couldn’t be happier.
“Okay, shots and new beers.” Jared said with finality, standing up, moving to the bar. You and Jensen sat in silence for a heartbeat. “So, Y/N, how was the first day?” You opened your mouth, but he stopped you with a hand in the air. “Wait, I already know – it was a mind-blowing amazing experience, ‘cause you got to kiss me.” He laughed and winked. You grinned back. “Well, yeah. I mean, the kiss was okay, I guess.” He looked mock-hurt, slapping a huge hand on his chest. “You wound me, Y/N.” You laughed. “Sorry. No, honestly? It’s been pretty cool. I’m really happy about everything, and this is fun.” You gestured around to the bar, and Jared plonked down, shots on a tray and three beers in his hand. “Let’s do this. To Y/N, hopefully you’ll be around for a while” he winked at Jensen, who blushed slightly “and welcome to the family!” He lifted a shot-glass full of amber liquid in the air, and you followed suit, downing the shot. “Ick. What the hell is that?” You said, coughing slightly. “That – that is a secret.” Jared said, a hiccup intercepting his sentence.
 You spent several hours at the bar, getting thoroughly sloshed along with the boys. You glanced down at your phone and gasped at the time. “SHIT! Fuck.” You groaned. Jensen cocked an eyebrow at you, silently asking. “Fuck, I have to sleep in my trailer, I guess. I’m normal on the bus, and the last one drove two hours ago.” You huffed, finding your latest conversation with your best friend.
Hey, Y/F/N, I’m not coming home tonight – missed the bus. See ya tomorrow, sleep tight!” As you pressed send, you looked up – suddenly realizing you had missed a silent conversation between the boys, as Jared smirked at Jensen.
“Well, sleep well, Y/N. I’m going to go home and hopefully avoid a hangover tomorrow.” He said, standing up – albeit a little wobbly – and laid a hand on your shoulder, squeezing it gently. “See ya tomorrow, Y/N.” He winked at you and left. You looked at Jensen. He seemed to contemplate something. “What?” You asked. “what?” He answered back, a smile tugging at his lips. “You look like you’re plotting something, Jens.” He guffawed. “Well, nothing goes past you, huh?” He stretched. “Listen, the trailer’s not really comfortable sleeping in. sorry, but it’s friggin’ cold, and there’s not a comfortable space to sleep. So, I was thinking…” He hesitated before continuing. “Maybe you could sleep at my place?” You raised your eyebrows at him. “No shady business, promise! I’ve got a guest-bedroom and that bed is way comfier than the small couch in an un-heated trailer.” He rambled. “your decision.” He said, taking a sip of his beer as you pondered. It might have been your drunk brain, it might have been pure lust, but you quickly decided that you definitely were sleeping at Jensen’s place – damned anything else. “Alrighty, then.” You said. He beamed at you, finishing his beer and pulling his phone out. “Hang on, I’ll get a hold of Cliff.” He stepped away from your booth, and you drew a shaky breath. What the hell did you just agreed to? Your phone buzzed in your pocket, and you pulled it out.
Dude, what? Where are you sleeping? If it’s anything juicy, I have the right to know, as your best friend, Y/N!!! You grinned. Tell you tomorrow. Goodnight, Y/F/N.” You turned your phone off, not really in the mood for 100 texts and calls and finished your beer – as you took the last sip, Jensen came over to you. “Cliff’s here in like 2 minutes. Let’s go.”
  The drive home to Jensen had been unbearable – your body felt electric, and you constantly had to stop yourself from grabbing his hand, touching his hair or something silly like that. You kept trying to convince yourself that it was the alcohol, not you, doing this, but it became harder and harder, the more Jensen talked to you. You talked about everything – big and small – while Cliff drove silently. Finally, you stood in front of a massive house – you wobbled a bit, as you tried to look up, and a warm hand grabbed your waist. “Let’s go inside, drunky.” He laughed at you and led you inside. It was beautiful. “make yourself at home. I’ll be right back!” He yelled over his shoulder, as he walked up the stairs. You lifted your eyebrows in appraisal and walked aimlessly around. You stumbled upon the TV-room, and gasped. It was stocked full of movies – wall to wall, shelves full of DVD’s and Blu-ray’s, except the wall where a huge TV adorned the wall.
You walked around, looking at his collection – finding yourself in front of a section of horror-movies. You were scanning the titles, as a voice came from behind you. “Here, brought you some clothes to sleep in. It’s probably a bit too big, but better than nothing, I guess.” You spun around, looking at Jensen and then the pile of clothes in his hand. “Thanks.” You looked back at the movies. “You have surprisingly good taste, Mr. Ackles.” You grinned over your shoulder. “The wizard of Gore? Brilliant movie, man.” You took the clothes. “You know your movies, Y/N! I vote movie-night.” He grinned. You nodded.
“Bathroom?” You looked around. “The second door on your left.” He said, pulling the movie out from the shelf. “I’m making popcorn!” He jumped past you, laughing all the while.
You found the bathroom, and started undressing – for some reason, it made you feel a little vulnerable; you barely knew Jensen, and here you were, in his bathroom, half-naked. You shook your head and quickly pulled a t-shirt (Led Zeppelin, of course) over your head and pulled a pair of boxers over your legs. You pulled your hair in a bun and washed your face – finally leaving the bathroom and returning to the TV-room.
Jensen had already placed himself comfortably on the couch, a thick blanket over his legs. He saw you, and his eyes widened a bit. “That’s a good look for you, Y/N:” He said thickly. You blushed and jumped down on the couch next to him, pulling a bowl of popcorn in your lap. “Let’s do this, Jensen.” You grinned as he started the movie.
You felt a little bold about 1/3 into the movie and scrambled around – turning your back against his side, tucking you feet into the couch and leaning back. You could hear is breath hitch slightly, and grinned. He chuckled, and put his arm around you, warming you and effectively cocooning you in a blanket and him. And that’s where you stayed – even after falling asleep, you stayed right there – in his arms, a small smile playing on both of your lips.

I Can’t Help Who I Love
Summary: After Hannah Baker’s death, you’re life turned to shit. Your boyfriend broke up with you, your best friend is dead... Nothing could make your life worse. Well, maybe one thing... (I swear the actual story is better than the summary!)
Pairing: Alex Standall x Reader, Zach Dempsey x Reader (platonic), Hannah Baker x Reader (platonic)
Word Count: 5479
Warning(s): Mentions of suicide, mentions of teen pregnancy, A SHIT TON OF ANGST OMG, MeGa FeeLs (( I was listening to ‘River Flows in You’. I wAS SaD sO i sHAll CONdem YOu to BeiNG Sad As WeLL))
(A/N): As you can see, I threw my feelings up all over the fic. Someone needs to ban me from ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’, Alex Standall, and angst because this is the result. Put those things together and I poop out this story. I AM SO SORRY! Also, this is my first 13RW imagine so I’d appreciate the feedback. I really, honestly hope you enjoy it, because I really enjoyed writing it. I’m actually really proud of this piece, it’s easily one of my favorites.
You were the fourth. The fourth member of the little "squad" that had formed after Hannah's death. The fourth tape. The fourth reason... The fourth reason that Hannah Baker ended her life. You couldn't believe it when you heard the words "Welcome to your tape, (Y/N) (L/N)." You remember thinking, 'Why on Earth were you on this?' You racked your brain the whole entire night, trying to come up with some plausible excuse as to why you were on them. And you came up with nothing.
After listening, you couldn't believe it. Of course you felt guilty for what you did, but it's not like you could've helped it. As they say... You can't help who you fall in love with...
************************ "Now, tell me... Would you want to date someone who created a list, a list meant to get back at his girlfriend for not sleeping with him, but instead ruined another girl's life in the process...? I wouldn't. So, imagine my surprise when my so-called 'friend' decided that it would be a good idea to fall for him.
"Welcome to your tape... (Y/N) (L/N)."
************************ "(Y/N), hey! Wait up!" You hear from down the hall. Glancing over your shoulder, you spy Clay Jenson making his way through the crowd, trying to catch up to you.
They warned you about him. Justin, Jessica, Alex... They warned you that he had the tapes and that he was cornering them, threatening them. And since you were the next person, it was your turn.
Quickly trying to look for a way out, you bolt towards the back exit. Looking behind you, you notice that Clay was no where in sight. As you sigh in relief, you begin turning the corner only to come in contact with someone's chest. You yelp and fall backwards.
"(Y/N), oh sorry." He holds out his hand for you to take, which you do, and helps you up.
"What do you want, Clay?"
"I just want to know why you did it. She was your friend and you stabbed her in the back." Your eyes begin to tear up, the mere memory of her...
"Look, Clay..." You begin, releasing a shaky breath. "I can't talk to you about this, okay?" You turn to leave but he grabs onto your arm, forcing you stop.
"Why not?"
"Because, I can't." Feeling you try to pull away, Clay tightens his hold on you.
"You knew what he did. You knew he ruined her, yet you still dated him? Explain it to me. Why would you-"
"What do you want me to say, Clay?! That I'm sorry? That I'm stupid for choosing Alex, out of all people? Well I am! I'm sorry and I'm incredibly stupid! But that doesn't change anything, does it? Me saying sorry isn't going to change a damn thing..." You were full on crying now, sobs breaking up your yelling, making you sound weak.
"Hey!" You heard someone yell furiously.
"What the hell are you doing to her? Back off, man!" You felt Clay's grip get ripped off of your arm as he got shoved away from you. Looking up, you saw a furious-looking Alex standing in between you and Clay.
"Alex, it's okay..." You mumble, pulling him away.
"No, it isn't. You're crying, and he's the cause of it." He pointed to a miserable looking Clay.
"Why do you even care, Alex?" He turned to look at you, disbelief written all over his face.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"It means we broke up, so you can stop pretending to care." He stood, silent. His mouth opened for a split second, as if he was going to say something but he closed it before he could. He just let out a scoff, walking away as he shook his head. You turn back to Clay, wiping the tears from your eyes. More just took their place.
"You can't help who you fall in love with, Clay... You of all people should know that." And with that, you walk away, leaving Clay standing in his place, processing what just happened and what you had said.
************************
"We met at Monet's. You were sitting alone, sipping your drink, slowly. Alex and Jessica were talking about how unfairly some substitute was to their class, while I just sat there, drinking my hot chocolate, staring into space. I was the one who suggested we go over there and say hi, seeing as you looked lonely.
"Why?" Jessica asked, looking over at you with a weird look in her eye.
"Well, because she looks lonely." They didn't say anything so I got up and went over to you. Your eyes glanced up at me, slight hope sparking in them. That spark went away as soon as you saw it was me.
"Sorry, I thought you were someone else." You mumbled, going back to chewing on your straw.
"Waiting on someone?" I knew the answer, but I asked anyway.
"Yep. Got stood up, again. I need to learn not to trust guys." You laughed. Despite the sadness you probably felt, you laughed. And I laughed along with you.
"Yeah, guys are dicks."
"Amen, sister." We sat there, just laughing.
"I'm (Y/N)," you stuck your hand out for me to shake.
"Hannah." Alex and Jessica waved over to me, beckoning for me to come back.
"Hey, would you want to come sit with us? My friends are over there." I pointed at them.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Would you?" You sat there, silent and thinking. Finally, you smile and nod.
"I would love to." And just like that, another member was added to our tiny group. Three became four. And even after Jessica and Alex disappeared, you stuck with me. You never left.
I can easily say that you were my best friend, (Y/N). We had sleepovers, talking about cheesy things like boys and you would go all fangirl about your crush on Montgomery De la Cruz, or I gushed to you about how a certain someone looked at me or talked to me. We walked home from school together, went on coffee dates to Monet's. You would always swing by the Crestmont to see me whenever you could. You wouldn't even watch a movie, you would just stand there for hours and we would just talk.
I could come talk to you about anything and you would listen. And even after everything... After Justin's picture or Alex's list, you never left me. I remember showing up on your doorstep, crying, and you took me in. You let me rant and vent all I wanted. I remember asking you why you were still my friend.
"Because," you told me, "I don't care about your reputation, Hannah. I don't care if you did or didn't do that stuff because to me, they are just rumors. You are my best friend, Hannah and until you flat out tell me that they are true, I won't believe a word. And besides, guys are dicks." It was the nicest thing anyone had ever said to me."
************************
You had decided to go the cliff to get your mind off of things, but it only made it worse. Tears streamed down your face as you reminisced about all of the memories you had with Hannah or about the ones you had with Alex. You didn't know where it all went wrong, with either or them. Everything had seemed so fine one second but came crashing down in the next. That was just life, you guessed.
************************
One day at lunch, you practically came skipping over to me, all smiley and giggly.
"Why do you look so giddy today? Oh my God, are you blushing?" I laughed, moving my stuff out of the way so you could sit. You rubbed your cheeks, unable to wipe the smile off of your lips.
"Shut up!" You whined before getting back on point. "Okay, so you know how I had that crush on someone, but I never thought it was going to happen considering he just got out of a relationship and all that?" Nodding, I urge you to continue.
"Well... Last night, he took me out on a date."
"Oh my gosh, really?" You nod happily.
"Are you ever going to tell me who this mystery guy is?"
"Oh Hannah, I don't kiss and tell."
"What? You two kissed?"
"It was completely accidental, but it was awesome nonetheless." I was so happy for you, (Y/N). I didn't think much of it that day, but I could've sworn that I saw a weird look cross your face. One full of remorse and guilt. I didn't understand why. I also didn't understand why you didn't really tell me anything about the guy you were dating until a few weeks later, you arrived at the Crestmont. With Alex.
"Two tickets for 'It' please." I was working the booth that night, so when Alex showed up, I had to at least pretend to be nice.
"Oh... Hey Hannah." He mumbled once he saw it was me.
"On a date?"
"Uh... Yeah." That was when you approached.
"Hey, while you get the tickets, I'll go ahead and get our po-" you stopped your sentence short when you saw me.
"Hannah? I-I thought that you weren't working tonight..." I got the feeling of overwhelming deja vu. But most of all, I was hurt. Alex excused himself, letting us talk privately.
"Alex is the mystery guy?"
"Yeah, listen Han... I'm really sorry." You knew what he did to me, yet you still dated him. Looking back at all of the times you gushed to me about your 'new boyfriend', it never occurred to me that it would be Alex. I didn't realize that you were going behind my back with the person who started it all. I felt sad, empty... Most of all I felt betrayed. You were my best friend. But best friends, they don't do what you did... So I had assumed that you were never really my friend.
Now... Now I realize that you were actually my friend. No one can fake it for that long, so well. I just want to know... why'd you do it?"
************************
Over the course of the next few days, you did your very best to ignore Clay, and Alex. But, you knew you couldn't for long. And Zach voiced your fears.
"(Y/N), he getting closer to his tape, which means-"
"I know exactly what it means." You snap, immediately apologizing.
"I'm only trying to look out for you."
"I know, Zach." Before Hannah died, you and Zach became best friends. It was mostly because he was the least obnoxious out of all of Alex's new friends. You two had remained friends even after the break up and Hannah's death.
"Look, maybe he won't put the pieces together. I mean, none of you guys did, so..."
"Clay is smarter than the rest of us." He was also one of the only ones who you told your secret to. You are hoping to keep it that way.
"Look, I'm not that worried. It'll probably blow right over his head." The truth is, you're terrified. Clay is smart, really smart.
"As long as your sure..."
~CLAY'S POV~
He was so close to being done. He was on tape number 12, having already listened to his tape. He felt a feeling of dread, it seemed as though as the numbers progress, each reason is worse than the last. Taking in deep breath, he presses play.
************************
"I just want to add something, a story, before I get on with reason number 12... Now, let me be clear. This section of the tape is not a reason. But, it is something significant that I feel I should mention. I won't be giving any names as to who it is I'm talking about, it's not my place to. But perhaps maybe it will help them...
This happened the same night of Jessica's party. It came before everything that happened with Sheri, Justin, and Clay...
She had approached me while I was sitting on the couch. I was alone, so it gave her the perfect time to walk up to me, looking as if she was about to burst into tears right then and there. She asked if we could talk for a second in private. Now, why would she come up to me of all people in a house crowded with them, you may ask? Well, all I'm going to say is that she was my friend. Whether I admitted that at the time, she was my friend.
"I know that we aren't on good terms at the moment..." She began, pausing as if she was thinking about a good way to word whatever it was she was going to tell me.
"And I know that you must not want to see me, but I didn't know who else I could talk to, who else I could trust..." She seemed to be struggling with something major so despite everything, I gave in.
"What is it?"
"Something happened... And I don't know what to do. I haven't told anyone, not even my parents." Her words were broken by the tears that began flowing down her face. I placed my hands on her shoulders as she looked at me with teary eyes. Whatever it was, it had to have been bad because this girl hardly ever cried in public. Sure, she's cried to me a lot, but never was it in a public setting. And here we were, at a party.
"You can tell me. What is it? What happened?" I knew her and her boyfriend had recently had a pretty bad break up, so I assumed that it had something to do with him. But, what I was expecting her say and what she did say were completely opposite of each other.
"I-I," she stuttered, tripping over her words. I waited patiently, knowing that you can't rush her in these types of moments. Finally, after about a minute, she whispered something. It was so low, and the music from inside the house was so loud, I couldn't make out a word that she had said.
"What?" She said it once more, only slightly louder. This time, I read her lips. My heart was pumping because of what I thought she had said. It couldn't be though, could it? No.
"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" She took in a shaky breath, and you said it so loud, you almost shouted it.
"I'm pregnant." In that moment, everything that had happened to me, all of the shit that had happened... I don't think any thing could compare to what she was feeling in that moment. I pulled her in for a hug, knowing that she needed comfort. She cried on my shoulder for a long time.
"How far along are you?" I asked, just out of curiosity.
"Only about two weeks, I'd say. I found out last week." She sniffled. We had moved back into the house, and were sitting on the couch.
"Is it his?" I hesitate to ask this, but, again, I was curious. And she needed to talk about it.
"Yes...
"Are you going to tell him?" She looked at me as if I was crazy.
"What? No, Hannah. You can't tell him."
"Why not? If it's his then-"
"No! He's a teenage guy, and besides, he already dumped me. Do you honestly believe that he will accept this?"
"I don't know, maybe." It was hard to believe, but it was her we were talking about. Her ex loved her very much, even I could see that. I still don't know why he broke up with her. He absolutely broke her heart. And I disliked him even more after that, if that was even possible.
"Hannah, you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone. Especially him." I argued with her, saying that it wasn't for the best that she keep it from him, asking her what she was going to do when the bump was noticeable.
"I'll figure it out but please. Promise me. If you've ever been my friend, you won't tell him." And, reluctantly, I agreed.
I am still keeping my word. I have never told a soul. Not until now at least. And even now, I still didn't give you a single name.
As for the girl... I'm sorry. I know that I promised. I also know that it must be disheartening to hear about yourself on a series of tapes giving reasons on why a dead girl is dead... But I assure you, this was not a reason. I thought about this over and over, turning it over in my head. I hope this will give you the courage to tell him, if he doesn't know already. You were, and always will be my friend. Don't forget that.
Now... Onto the true twelfth reason..."
************************
Clay sat, silent. He didn't understand. Someone pregnant? At their school? He hadn't heard anything about it. From anyone. He instantly tried putting the pieces together. How did Hannah and these tapes relate to this girl?
Clay stayed up all night, brain on overdrive, making it hard to sleep. For some reason, he just couldn't let what he had heard go. And it gave him a powerful headache to just keep thinking about it. But, he didn't stop. He wasn't going to stop trying to figure it out until he did.
It was so frustrating. It felt as though if he could just rattle one little piece of memory from his brain, he could figure the whole puzzle out. Everything would click. And, eventually, it did. Right when his alarm clock rang through the early morning air.
~(Y/N)'S POV~
"(Y/N)..." You roll your eyes, slamming your locker door shut.
"Please, Clay. Enough. Just leave me alone, okay?" You turn to walk away.
"I know. I know about you, (Y/N)." His words make you stop in your tracks.
"I didn't understand at first. But, slowly, the pieces began coming together." You turn to face him.
"What are you talking about?"
"I saw you with her the night of Jessica's party. You were hugging her, your shoulders shaking as she comforted you. I didn't remember any of this until earlier this morning. After I stayed up all night, trying to figure out just who she talked about right before tape 12." Your mouth dries up and your heart starts to beat faster and faster.
"Sorry... I have no idea what you're talking about." He walks closer to you, making you back right into the lockers. The school hallways were empty, with the exception to you and Clay. If anyone was in the school, they'd be in the gym, preparing for the basketball game. No one was around to save you.
"Don't play coy with me, (Y/N). I know. Okay? It took me a while to figure out what she meant by 'despite everything that happened between us' or 'you were, and always will be my friend.' It took me awhile to realize that the girl she was talking about was on the tapes...was you. But everything clicked."
"Clay-"
"You're pregnant, aren't you?" Your eyes widen.
"Keep your voice down!" You say, before you have a chance to stop.
"I knew it. Does Alex know?"
"No, and you can't tell him."
"Why shouldn't I? I mean given what Alex did to her... He ruined her life. You both did. Your life is already ruined by the baby, so why not ruin his too?" As he was saying all of this, your hands ball into fists. You clenched them so hard, you could feel the blood trickled from your palm.
"You shut your mouth, Jenson! You think I planned for all of this to happen? Do you think I planned to fall in love with Alex Standall, a boy who created a list that potentially drove my best friend, Hannah Baker to kill herself? Do you think that I planned on betraying her by doing so? Do you think I planned on becoming a single mother? You think that I planned to be a mother at all right now? The answer is no! But it all just happened. I didn't mean for it to, but fate's funny like that." Tears we're pouring down your face, your face had gone red, your hands still balled into fists.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry that all of this happened, and I know you lost the love of your life. But, guess what? I lost mine, too! Both of them! So, who are you to continuously badger me for questions? Who are you to stand here, and rub it in my face? I get it! Do you want me to say it out loud? FINE! I killed Hannah Baker. Did you hear that, or do I have to say it louder?" He was speechless, so you yelled to the top of your lungs, voice breaking due to your tears. "I KILLED HANNAH BAKER! ALL WHILE CARRYING ALEX STANDALL'S BABY!" Your voice boomed through the hallways. You failed to hear the footsteps that echoed down the hallway, coming closer and closer.
"Are you happy now, Clay? ARE YOU FREAKING SATISFIED!?" You dropped to your knees, unable to hold yourself up as you shook uncontrollably, hard, loud sobs racking your body. Before Clay could say a word, he looked over to his right. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw two figures running over to the both of you. Shaking your head, you lowered your head into your bloody hands.
"What the hell, Jenson!" That was Justin's voice. While him and Clay were arguing, you felt hands gently wrap underneath your legs and around your back. You were being lifted into the air.
"Zach?" You cry, blinking your red, puffy, teary eyes at him. He smiles sadly down at you while he takes you away from Justin and Clay.
"Yeah, I'm here. Don't worry, I've got you." You wrap your arms around his neck, hugging him as you sob into his shoulder. Normally, you wouldn't be this broken up, but you had enhanced hormones and with the conversation you just had, well you deserved a good cry. And Zach let you. He always let you come to him and cry on his shoulder, and now was no exception.
Zach had took you to the bathroom, letting you get cleaned up. Your eyes were still puffy and your face was still kind of red.
"I'm sorry." You mumble, walking slowly with him back to the gym.
"Don't apologize. Jenson is the one who should apologize. He had no right in cornering you like that."
"Maybe he did. I mean, everything he said was true. Everything I said was true. I really did kill Hannah Baker. And now he and Justin know that I'm pregnant. What if he tells him? What if he tells Alex? What am I going to do then? God, I'm such an idiot."
"Stop it, you aren't an idiot. You lost your best friend and you're carrying a child, and you're only 17. You're still a kid. No kid should have to go through this. And about Justin... He wouldn't tell Alex, I know that for a fact. He may seem like he's an ass but he's... He's a good guy."
"But, what about Clay? He threatened that he would."
"He's been threatening everyone. He hasn't done anything yet." You sigh, looking down at your stomach.
"Zach, what am I going to do? I'm nearing three months and I'm beginning to show more and more." Zach looks at you with sad eyes, his facial expression giving away what he's thinking. You shake your head.
"(Y/N)..."
"No, don't say it."
"I think it's time to tell him." Tears prick your eyes for what felt like the millionth time.
"No, you don't understand. I can't."
"But why not? What are you afraid of?" You're quiet, staring down at your toes.
"If I tell him... It will make it too real," you whisper.
"What do you mean?"
"If I tell him, it'll mean that this is all real. That it's really happening." He puts a comforting hand on your shoulder, smiling sadly.
"(Y/N), it's already real. It's happening. And there isn't anything you can do to stop it."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your leg was bouncing up and down nervously as you waited for him to show, heart beating a million miles a minute. You were chewing on your nails as you delicately traced little circles on your stomach.
"(Y/N)?" His melodic voice flowed through you as glanced up at him, standing up quickly.
"H-Hey. Can we talk?" He scoffed and crossed his arms.
"Oh, so now you wanna talk?" You didn't miss the hint of venom laced in his words.
"Alex, please," you pleaded. "This is important." Sensing the serious tension, he dropped his arms and walked a little closer to you.
"What is it?" You sit on the bench once more, patting the spot next to you.
"Here, sit down." He complies, furrowing his eyebrows at you. You turn slightly so that you are facing him.
"I-I don't really know how to say this, and I don't know how you're gonna take it... Oh, who am I kidding, I know exactly how you're gonna take it." You rambled, stopping only when he placed a comforting hand on your leg. You glanced down at his hand, slightly balling your fists.
"Hey, calm down, okay? Whatever it is, you can tell me." Staying silent, he shifts a bit, taking his hand off of your leg.
"Are you afraid that I'm gonna get mad?" You nod shyly, tears starting to form. He almost immediately pulls you in for a hug, noticing your tears. He rubs your back soothingly as you sob lightly into his shoulder.
"It's gonna be okay, (N/N). Whatever it is, I promise not to get mad."
"Don't make a promise that you won't be able to keep."
"Listen to me. I promise you that I won't get angry. Please, just tell me." You take in a deep breath. 'Here goes...'
"I-I'm pregnant..." You whisper into his ear quietly. He tenses up, pulling back slowly. You are unable to meet his eyes as he stops only when he can fully see your face. He scans it, almost as if to see if you were lying to him.
"What did you say?" He stuttered. You slam your eyes shut tightly.
"Y-You're..." You simply nod.
"And it's mine?" You look at him with wide eyes.
"Of course it is!" You snap, angry that he would even insinuate...
"Holy shit." You pull away from his grasp, putting your face in your hands.
"I'm so sorry." You cry. You felt his arms wrap around you once more.
"This is isn't your fault. Hey, listen to me," he gently pulls your hands away from your face and pulls it so you could look at him. You finally meet his teary, ocean blue eyes.
"This isn't your fault. Do you understand me?"
"But-" he shakes his head, closing his eyes.
"No. I won't let you just blame yourself. Okay? It was both of us."
"Are you angry?" He sighs, opening his eyes once more to look into yours.
"No, of course not. I promised you that I wasn't going to be. But, is this why you've been acting so weird?" You nod.
"That and I didn't think that you wanted anything to do with me."
"What in hell made you think that?"
"You did. You said it the night that you broke up with me. That among other things..." You hear him sigh.
"(Y/N), I am so sorry." You sniff, shaking your head, pulling away from him once again.
"It's not your fault. You didn't love me anymore, that's all. And I respect that, I just... I don't know."
"Don't you dare say that, of course I still love you."
"Not the way a couple should love each other. Not in the way that I want you to..." Once more, he hooked a finger underneath your chin, bringing it towards him, you being forced to look in to his eyes.
"Yes, I do. I love you, so much. So so much."
"Wha...? No, stop. Don't lie to me. I don't like liars."
"I'm not lying to you, (N/N). I really do still love you. I regretted breaking things off the minute that I did it." You take in what he says, furrowing your brows in hurt and anger.
"Then why the hell did you do it? You broke my heart, Alex! I had no idea why you did it or what I did to make you do that. All you did was shout at me, call me names. And now you expect me to just sit here and listen to you break it even more?" You angrily wipe your tears away, turning your face away from him.
"No, no, no, (Y/N). It wasn't like that."
"Okay, then tell me what it was like, tell me what I did because I sure as hell don't know."
"You didn't do a damn thing! It was me, I was the problem in the relationship. I spent to much time with the guys and not enough time with you. I hardly took you out, I... I just wasn't good enough for you." He finishes quietly, staring at the pavement on front of him. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see a tear drop from his eye. He hardly ever cries, so you knew he was being sincere.
"Did I make you think that? That you weren't good enough for me?" He turned toward you, grasping out for your hand. You didn't pull away because, in all honesty... you missed the contact.
"No, baby, no. Don't even think that."
"Then, why...?" he sighed.
"The guys made me believe it. They convinced me that you were better than me, that I wasn't the right guy for you, that once someone better came along... And the way that they'd talk about you, it was vulgar. I couldn't stand to listen to it anymore. I was angry... at them for saying all of that, at myself for believing all of it, and you for putting up with it. I took it out on you, and I'm so sorry."
"See? This is why I never talk to your friends. They are always wrong and stupid. Especially for saying all of that to you. But, you're stupid too, you know." He knew it was true, so he didn't argue.
"You're stupid for believing all of them. I could never think that about you, Alex. Look at me," he hesitantly met your eyes.
"I love you, Alex, and only you. I'm so freaking in love with you, I can't look at anybody else, even if I wanted to. You are my life, my world. That will never, ever change. You can break up with me a million times, call me every name in the book, curse my name, whatever. Deep down, I will never stop loving you. You're the love of my life, Alex. I only wish that you'd believe that...." Without hesitation, without even thinking, he crushed his lips to yours. Lips moving desperately against each other, missing the feel of the other against them.
"I love you, (Y/N). I never stopped, and I never will. I'll never let you go again. Please, give me a second chance. Please..." he whispered against your lips.
"Are you sure that this is what you want? Do you want to be in my, and the baby's, life? Truly?"
"Yes, I really, really do. Only if you'll have me."
"Okay. Okay, all is forgiven." He grinned widely, pulling you up from where you both was sitting.
"Thank you. For everything." He pulled you into a tight, but gentle, hug, rubbing your back soothingly. From a distance, you could see Zach waving at you with both hands, giving a wink and two thumbs up. He had followed you, kept an eye on you in case Alex lashed out. He was definitely your best friend. You close your eyes and rest your head into the crook of Alex's neck, inhaling his scent once again.
'Hannah, I'm so sorry. I miss you, so much. And I'm sorry for what I did to you... but it's true. You can't help who you love, and I'm not ashamed of it. He is so remorseful about what he did to you. Making that stupid list was the worst thing that he ever did, I know this for sure.
We are going to start a beautiful family, and I only hope that you can find it in your heart up there to forgive me, to forgive us. I love you, Hannah.'
